You’re traveling light, part by design, but mostly because you left quickly. You don’t have much to distract you. Still, though, not much isn’t nothing, which is about what you had up until not very long ago at all.

You pull your knees up under your chin in the driver’s seat, since it’s not like you’re doing anything anyways, and pull your earbuds out of a pocket. You have an audio tape about...something. You started it the day before yesterday, or whatever. You don’t really remember. Something about a man on a mission and he’s killing terrorists.

Whatever. You’ll just start over from the beginning. It’s like three hours on the road combined.

Three really, really boring hours on the road. Karan and the car by extension are taking you through an enormous amount of residential areas where the speed limit has been lowered down to only 25.

It looks like an ordinary house. You keep your eyes forward and trust that Karan has the surveillance gear rolling. There’s nothing you can do anyways but not show your face.

At least it’s over quickly, unlike the rest of the trip.

By the time you get to the restaurant your entire body feels stiff. Still, as far as you could tell, there seemed to be no attention paid to just another car rolling through the neighborhood. You sit in the car, parked in a stall, rubbing your ears after taking the earbuds out. They aren’t very comfortable.

Your knees pop and crack slightly as you stand up. The diner seems… something. You don’t know. It has lots of polished aluminum siding and even at night there’s still a lot of light reflecting off of it. You suppose it looks nice.

Inside is busy, close to full. There’s a booth along the west wall, by the counter, that the young host shows you to. He leaves a menu, returns with a small glass of ice water, and leaves again.

It’s weird to be alone again. It’s been a weird week.

Google Docs reports that we have 20 pages of writing that has never been comitted to an actual archive, so here it is reproduced in probably-full: http://pastebin.com/4eR7j886 . I advise reading it, it’s not like my writing is particularly dense or difficult.

Important Housekeeping: It sounds like I got the job i was interviewing for today. If confirmed I will be working from 10 to 6 or 10 to 7 Thursday through Sunday. I will have very little time for the traditional quest days.

I will have Tuesdays off. I am not sure if I will run the quest then. It will be one of the few free moments I have to do things like see my extended family or attend to school needs.

In short, I don't know how things will shake out. I don't want to nor will I just drop the quest, but we'll see what sort of time and energy I'm left with.

get a simple burger and some fries, then once we're done get a caramel milkshake to have on the way home
>>
>>38837547
if you don't have large windows of time you might want to more seriously consider moving this to Akun if you want to maybe just throw out an update every couple of days when you have an hour available or something

while /tg/ is and always will be great, threads require a bunch of time to sit down and run, which sadly life gets in the way of
>>
>>38837574
I have a feeling I'd lose what readers I've managed to obtain if I moved, while probably not adding new ones.

I don't know yet. I won't know until it does happen. If or when, I'll adjust accordingly.

Maybe work won't feel like work. I'll be at a pretty hip place.

I doubt it, this quest is pretty chill and so are the other players

A waitress stops by, eventually. You weren’t keeping track of time.

You think she’s probably around your age but she’s much prettier than you. She has all of her hair.

You tell her you want a plain cheeseburger with regular fries, but you don’t explain why. It didn’t seem necessary to tell her that a great way to get the shits was by eating unwashed fruit and vegetables.

There was only so much water and it wasn’t to be used to wash whatever someone pulled out of the dirt.

So you eat it plain. You never liked tomatoes anyways. They were gross and wet and slimey and acidic.

She brings it to you, along with your generic cola drink.

It’s hot and hurts your hands but you’ve had worse and these things are better hot than cold. It tastes ok, but now you’re left alone with yourself.

You eat in as much peace as you can find. Tonight, it’s tolerable. You people watch some, looking over the bun of the cheeseburger. Everyone looks poor. Maybe you’ve gotten used to being around Skyler and Wendy because they shower regularly and in Wendy’s case she spends a ton of money on clothes, but now the contrast is pretty obvious. They don’t look as worn down as you, but they don’t have anywhere near the money you make.

As you’re finishing you have a big paper cup full of milkshake brought out to you.

Shitting your pants has never been tastier.

You pay quickly and leave quickly and wonder for a while if you tipped enough.

The way back is even more boring than the way there, and once again you’re sure to avoid looking at the house directly. You don’t see many cars on the road.

Traffic does pick up some, as once you leave a thirty mile bubble of the address, the car routes you back onto a faster, busier road. It’s still not very busy. It’s pretty late, even for this city, you guess.

You get back home, feeling tired but not yet exhausted, late. The car parks itself in the garage, and turns itself off and settles into its own mechanical sleep.

You empathize. All things need rest.

You didn’t see Wendy’s car, though.

You walk in through the door connecting to the garage.

Karan announces helpfully, “Wendy has not arrived.”

“I’m aware.”

You pull your boots off and leave them by the front door.

“I have assembled an adequate amount of images and footage from the car.”

“Good. That was boring as shit.”

“Do you wish to review them now?”

So now she’s being pleasant.

Message Wendy wondering where she is and when she'll be home.

well, this is problematic.

probably just a word or phrase it doesn't like, maybe try breaking the post into several smaller posts?

what time is it? I'm under the impression that its late after we had karaoke after work

we should probably shower and clean up before getting some sleep soon if it is late

"Sure, hit me while i'm fresh, but I'll need to review it later too. "

"Karan, have you ever planned something like this before?"

Text wendy. Ask if she's OK. We did kind of have a falling out.
>>
>>38844445
Pretty late. It was getting there before you left, now that you're back, solidly so.
>>
>>38844409

God michelle is pathetic.

>>38844520
a little bit late there fellow anon, we just checked up with Wendy, though we could review the surveillance of the place now we're back home
>>
>>38844530
And you thought she was bad in person. I wanted Michelle's voice (text) to be a special, unique kind of awful.

You have a few things left to do, but a lot of them can be done at once.

You climb the stairs up to the second floor step by step, swaying back and forth with each step as you feel the surface and texture of the steps.

You like the way it feels through your socks, although you’re quickly sitting on the edge of your bed, pulling them off along with the rest of your clothing.

You want a shower. A hot one.

The water is warm nearly instantly, and hot enough in less than a minute. Big billowing clouds of steam follow, and you close and lock the door behind you. You give it a minute for the tilework and walls and floor to warm up before pushing your back against it and letting yourself slowly slide down the wall so you’re sitting, water falling on you.

You look over at the small army of products you have. The soaps and washes you understand, and you know shampoo, but “conditioner,” still seems foreign to you. You’re not sure if it helps after, but it does make your hair feel soft and smooth while in the shower.

“Karan.”

She doesn’t appear visually in here. Either she can’t or won’t.

“Yes, Michelle.”

“Have you done this before?”

“Define “this.””

“I don’t know. Whatever this is. Have you done this before.”

“Obviously not, Michelle, I do not exist in three dimensions.”

“You know what I mean.”

“Yes. Would you prefer that I answer truthfully?”

“Yes. That’s literally the only reason I said yes.”

“Very well. I don’t trust you enough to answer.”

Maybe you prefer it when she’s evasive and lies.

“Oh.”

The rest of the shower is quiet. You dress yourself in towels and sit on the edge of your bed, looking out over the water, idly wondering if anyone is staring back at you.

We should probably get some sleep, tomorrow we've either got some planning to do (which I'm not entirely sure what we need to be doing for planning), or will be making sure Wendy and Skyler don't die from their hangovers.
>>
I'm signing off for tonight. I do quite like this new native archival feature that moot installed a while back. If we do get cleaned off the board it's still possible to archive the thread through sup/tg/, and that's nice.

Catch you guys in the morning for day three of the One Year Annepalooza.
>>
>>38845049
thanks for the thread today OP, I might be able to give it another one, maybe two bumps before heading to bed myself

hopefully the other couple players can keep it alive the rest of the night
>>
>>38845069
If it happens it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't. I do wish we could reliably keep it all in one thread to preserve context, but, that's the game we play.
>>
>>38845089
could keep a updated googledoc of the quests content, whenever a thread dies upload the story posts to it and such
>>
>>38845115
Have been, dog. the quest gdocs page is 332. What I mean by context is all the posts that aren't story posts. Chatter about things, voting, discussing choices, etc, all of which become harder to understand when threads/narratives get broken up.

I know I said I was going to bed but I'm reading my book about F. G. Powers. Soon(TM).
>>
bedtime bump from this anon, if there are any others around, please keep the thread alive for OP to return
