RULES AND STATS: http://pastebin.com/5q9fPFjz

You are KARLA WEISS, a Belkan fighter pilot looking to carve your own place in the skies!

Right now, you had pretty much been talked into by your old teacher Professor Fleisher to try and talk one of his students out of joining up with One Belka. Apparently, she reminded him a lot of you.

But did you always looks so sour and snot-nosed back then?

"Hi there, Milly." You say a bit nervously. You honestly didn't know how to deal with kids, much less kids old enough to have grown an attitude as well.

"Yo." The young redhead grunts, still giving you a sour look. "You're going to ask me if I'm part of One Belka or something?"

"Well... are you?"

"No. And even if I was, why would I say yes?" Milly rolls her eyes.

"Yeah, I kind of figured that." You nod as you drop down in the chair across from her. "But you've at least thought about it, haven't you?"

"...maybe." Milly grunts, not making eye contact with you.

"So, Milly." You say somewhat awkwardly. No sense getting into things too fast. "I take it you like Professor Fleisher's courses?"

"Yeah, I guess." The younger girl nods, this time her gaze centering on you now that he subject has changed. "I really like his stuff about Belkan history in particular. Lots of cool stuff that we did in the past."

"Hm? Like what?" You ask.

"Well," Milly starts counting on her fingers, "the Belkan Knights, who roamed all over the country fighting evildoers and kicking all kinds of general ass. And then the first Belkan/Osea War between us and Osea where we first used planes on them and totally caught the Ossies with their pants down!"

Ah, you were starting to get an idea of what she was into.

"And THE Belkan War?" You ask.

Milly suddenly goes very quiet, and them mumbles under her breath.

"We should've won."

Yep. Hitting off all the checkpoints here.

"I see." You nod. "And what do you think that would have accomplished?"

Milly just sighs and looks out the window with sort of... what do you call it? Sorrow? Longing?

"We'd still be a country." She says quietly.

"We fought, we lost. That's all there is to it." You shrug.

"Really? That's all you have to say?" Milly seethes. "How can you-"

"Look, kid." You cut her off. "I'm not sure about your circumstances, by my father disappeared during that war, and I lived through some serious shit through my life because I had the bad luck of being born on the wrong side of an imaginary line when the peace treaty was signed. If there's anybody that's got a right to bitch about what happened, it'd be me, and I'm smart enough not get get bogged down by wars that are over and past."

Milly just looks at you in surprise, and her jaw drops open and closes back up several times as she tries to find words, but fails, until she can only croak.

"I'm sorry. About your dad."

"Don't sweat it. I still haven't given up hope he's still out there." You sigh. "What about you? How are your parents?"

Milly goes deathly quiet. It's at this point Professor Fleisher coughs loudly to catch your attention.

"This is a sensitive subject, so I will explain. Milly, like many of my students, is a ward of the state. Her parents were killed in an allied bombing run."

Oh, jeez. You turn back to Milly, who's now stood up from her seat, her expression obscured by her long hair.

"Milly..." Professor Fleisher says pleadingly.

"I gotta go." Milly grunts as she spins on her heel and storms for the door.

"Yeah, well, better than-"

There's a sharp CRACK that rings throughout the hall as your palm impacts Milly's cheek, immediately silencing her. She just looks at your surprise in bewilderment, her cheek already starting to redden as it swells.

"Now listen here, I'm done fucking playing around." You scowl and lean forward. "You've already joined up with OB, haven't you?"

Milly visibly shrinks and nods, almost imperceptibly.

"And you were flying that Morgan yesterday, weren't you?"

Milly reluctantly nods again.

"Thought so." You sigh. You had to admit, though, a kid her age being able to fly a superplane like that? She really was as talented as Professor Fleisher said, but she was still a brat. "You really need to work on those tells of yours."

"Are..." Milly whimpers. "Are you going to turn me in?"

Yup. Maybe, if we can get her to think past her hatred (which she has done; she looked sorry when she heard about Karla's father) and think long-term instead of short-term, Milly might turn over a new leaf early.

"I have no choice." You say grimly. "OB are a dangerous group. I don't what they've been telling you when they recruited you, but you have to know that they don't have your or Belka's best interests in mind."

"At least they're doing something about it." Milly scowls.

"Look, Milly." You sigh and back off a bit to give her some space. You weren't afraid of her trying to run away. "There's got to be a better way to do this. How badly do you want to fly?"

"Huh?" Milly raises an eyebrow, confused.

"I mean, are you flying purely because you want revenge, or do you have that urge deep down that can't explain, but just longs to reach up to the sun, or even higher than that?" You ask.

"I... I don't know." Milly frowns. "I never thought of it that way."

"Okay, then how about this." You cross your arms. "I'm pretty sure I can pull some strings and give you a chance to fly. Legitimately. Everything legal and above the table. Would that convince you to leave OB? Nobody else would have to know."

"Why are you doing this?" Milly asks, her voice barely a whisper. "Anybody else would have just arrested me."

Having to live day by day dodging both Belkan nationalists and Osean military police was not fun at all. You got it pretty fucking easy, growing up all the way here in Dinsmark."

You decide you should keep this in the family. You could give a call to Uncle and see if he could pull any strings. He'd also be in a perfect position to keep an eye on her, too. To make sure she didn't go back with OB, or at the very least keep them from trying to get back at her. Plus, he was family. Family that you could trust.

"Don't worry, I happen to have a few connections. My uncle is very well placed, in fact. He'd probably be able to get you into the Belkan Defense Force."

"Really?" Milly's eyes widen.

"Yes, really." You smile. "No guarantees, but at least it's better than slumming it with terrorists, right?"

"Y-yeah..." Milly says nervously. "But, can he-"

"And yes, he's well placed enough to keep OB off your back."

"Ah, ok." Milly visibly sags. "Um, I guess I should return the favor and tell you something important."

"Really?" You ask.

"OB.... they're planning to attack the economic conference. If they pull it off, they can eliminate the current government AND the Osean president at the same time."

"When? How?!" You hiss.

"Once the conference begins. They'll come disguised as BDAF aircraft and the hit the conference building."

SHIT. You needed to get back the airfield NOW.

Now AC: Infinity...my god. We're they high when they proceed that fuel? The game looks good, but I'd be retarded to spend hundreds of dollars on it.

"Come on." You grab Milly by the collar. "You're coming with me."

"Wait, what!?" Milly croaks as you drag her along.

"Can't afford to let you out of my sight!" You grunt as you poke our head back into the room. "Professor, I'm going to borrow Milly for a while. Is that okay with you?"

"Have fun, but not too much fun." Professor Fleisher grins wryly.

You down kick open the door to the room your wingmates were resting in.

"ALL RIGHT, GIRLS, GET UP! DUTY CALLS!" You bellow.

"Oh, we got a mission!?" Lara shoots up from her couch, her eyes shining like an excited puppy. That girl just had way too much energy.

"Oh my, I thought we'd have more time..." Lilian yawns.

"Five more minutes." Amy mumbles in her sleep.

"Come on, girls!" You continue, pulling Amy up to her feet. "We got a President to save! Again!"

"Who's the new girl?" Lara asks, pointing to Milly.

Huh, should you tell them?

"She's my squire." You say simply, noting the utter look of embarrassment on Milly's face. "Now get moving!"

You quickly usher your wingmates out the door before they even have a chance to say anything. Professor Fleisher said he could let you borrow one of the school vans to get back, which you gladly take up.

"So, mind explaining what's going on?!" Lara asks as she holds on for dear life as you barrel your van down the street. Fortunately, it was still early in the morning, so traffic was fairly light.

"Just got some intel that OB are planning to crash the conference today." You grunt as you swerve around a corner, nearly flipping the van over in the process. "We've only got a few hours to intercept them."

"Well damn, let's hurry!" Lara nods.

"Ugggghhhh, can't we just call ahead?" Amy groans, rubbing her forehead. "Warn the conference guys?"

"As if they'd believe us." You grunt. "More likely they'd arrest US for wasting their time."

"Point."

"Are you sure this information is credible?" Amy asks.

"Yeah, Milly here was part of OB. She's the one who gave me the warning." You say.

Your wingmates all just look at Milly in surprise, and she just sheepishly nods.

"Well then, I suppose we should hurry." Lilian says.

At this point, you've already reached the airport and screech to a halt in front of the hangar. You leap out and see Samantha coming to greet you.

"Sam, we need clearance to take off!" You say. "OB is planning to hit the conference!"

"Where did you hear that?" Samantha asks, clearly not expecting this to be the first thing to hear in the morning.

The US has been doing various crap, such as making our own modern enemies (Saddam, Bin Laddin, those roving Militas in Aftganistan, etc)

in short, our record isn't as bad as some countries, but to presume we're saints is a bit much. Funny enough we admit to the massive shit we did to the Native americans, but not so much the massive meddling (with a high chance of backfiring) we've done as a country.

"Hey, since when did you get a fifth pilot?" Smokey scratches his head as you walk in.

What part of "Systematic denial that anything even happened" and "Insistence that they didn't do anything wrong" don't you understand?

Comfort Women? Beheadings? Forced death marches? The rape of Nanking? Even if these 'alleged' war crimes did happen, Imperial Japan did nothing wrong.

Japan is the land of taking the wrong damn lessons out of things, this is just more proof of it. "People hate us because of what we did in WWII! "Let's load up some QAAMs." You say.

"As expected." Smokey nods. "It'll be 4AAMs for your friend here. She's not cleared to use anything else."

"Understood." You nod and turn to Milly. "Think you can handle it?"

"Who do you think I am?" Milly grunts as she drops into the Falcon's cockpit.

"Right, right." You nod, having to remind yourself yesterday that she had been flying that Morgan against you the other day.

"All right, girls, you're clear for takeoff." Samantha announces over your radios. "You'll be put on CAP duty over the conference area, and I managed to convince the Belkans to set up a no fly zone around the area so only your birds will be cleared. That said, ID your damn targets before you shoot! I don't have to tell you the sort of shit we'd get in if you friendly fire an ally!"

"Yes, Samantha." You and your wingmates drone as if being scolded by your mothers.

"And I don't have to remind you that you're flying over an URBAN AREA, so watch where the hell you're shooting!" Samantha adds.

"Yes, Samantha." You all drone again.

"Good. Just so that's clear."

Your five planes all pull out of the hangar and line up on the runway before slowly taking off one by one.

You know what ticks me off more? There's people with a FAR higher death count than Hitler, but nobody knows or cares.
Going up from Hitler
>Stalin
Gulags, siberia, purges, et cetera. This guy is actually pretty well-known and well-documented, if only because of "those gosh-darned commies". Also the Holodomor, which was the Central Food Distribution denying ALL of Ukraine food for somewhere around a decade.
>Tojo
See conversational topic. Rape of Nanking, Bataan Death March, Comfort Women, Unit 731, numerous attacks on (and executions of) civilians by IJA.
>Mao
Great Leap Forward. Thirty three million people starved to death in one of the biggest modern famines, all because Glorious Chairman Mao said "Stop growing food in your backyard and make pig iron instead". In the words of one of my Chinese friends, "Six million people in China is a fucking rounding error"

What really ticks me right the fuck off is that there's all these people who were WORSE than Hitler, but nobody knows or cares. And the only reason for that is publicity; One of the major groups that Hitler genocided happened to be the same group that wields disproportionate influence in mass media.
That is, Hitler is literally the worst person ever only because he killed six million jews, and the Jews run the papers, the movies, the news, et cetera.

They ignore it. Hide it. Don't freakin' talk about it. There are people in Japan who don't even remember why Japan attacked America's Pearl Harbor.

They were literally never taught. So they just assume it's because the American's attacked first or encouraged the Japanese to blunder.

You cannot have Japanese feel bad about anything if they have no clue of what happened.

> "People hate us because of what we did in WWII! Better deny anything ever happened!"

It's not that. There is a very VERY deep seeded aspect of japanese culture which is that there is a very strong stigma against admitting that there is a problem. This is something that permeated all aspects of japanese culture from health and safety, to political decisions.

It's about keeping up appearances. Fat people don't go outside, disabled people are not accommodated, and psychiatric help is something only read about. If they admit that there is a problem then they are rocking the boat, and in japanese culture where the neighborhood/group comes first over most everything else, YOU DON'T ROCK THE FUCKING BOAT.

That's only part of the issue. The other half of the issue is that it concerns Europeans other than Russia. You hear anyone raise a hullabaloo over what's going on in Africa? What's going on in the ME other than killing "Christians"? Hell no! Only people who matter are those of Western decent.
>>
>>38844010
>japans cultures is both proud, and hold there ancestors in high esteem
You know all that BUSHIDO shit they paraded around in World War 2? That's manufactured. When Imperial Japan was just kicking off, they said "Okay, we need some cultural icons for people to latch on to!", and thus BUSHIDO STRONG SAMURAI WARRIOR

Only to other eurofags. You'd bet your ass if the Africans had the ability to scream to the world about everything being fucking terrible, if the Ukranians could get decades worth of propaganda out of the Holodomor, I won't say anything about the Chinese because they actually do do that but they don't export it.

You get the idea. If you have media influence, you get your stories told. If not, maybe you get a side-column or two, but nobody really cares. The bigger your soapbox is, the more people you can yell at from it, so the more people know, so the more people care, so the more people remember.

That's only part of the issue. Another part of it is pride. Japan is a proud nation. So are its people. You cannot appear weak. You cannot make others appear weak. Pride can drive someone to deny something has happened, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Let's not even talk about TODAY.

New Fucking Komeito is solid evidence that the Republicans don't have a monopoly on rightwing religion strangling governments.

We're not even gonna discuss the 1994-1995 sarin gas attacks, which were basically religiously-motivated TERRORIST ATTACKS.

And they basically love the fuck out of BUDDHISM. A religion that says "BE KIND TO EVERY FUCKING THING AND EVERY FUCKING ONE" OR ELSE YOU GET REINCARNATED INTO AN ANT OR WORSE..

I find it hilarious to a certain extent. My great grand father fought for the Imperial Japanese Army in world war one. He actually captured a bunch of Germans and had them interned. There was apparently a Chinese province that was colonized by the Germans.

The Japanese were extremely scrupulous in World War One for following the Geneva Conventions. Some of the German prisoners I believe actually stayed in Japan after the war. I only remember this because my great grandfather wrote a long complaining letter to his brother how one of the German prisoner's managed to marry a girl he was interested in. It was pretty hilarious.

Ah, those silly Germans. Always finding Lebensraum anywhere.

I thought one couldn't move backwards in Buddhism...

And the Republicans aren't completely based on religion. Only two areas that could be qualified as that are their stance on homosexuals and abortion. Even then, I'd argue that the stance on abortion isn't entirely religious, but rather by values that go along with the religion.

New Komeito is much more based on religion than that.

I was grossly oversimplifying, no doubt. it's just- you know, I'm kinda a student of history, and Japan fascinates the hell out of me. How can you have a nation that does shit like go from backwater feudal bullshit "Please colonize and unequal treaty the FUCK out of me" to fully modern power in like, what? 60-ish years? not even that? And still make such hilarious mistakes consistently across the board. It's the land of getting shit almost right.

living on the other side of the world sucks for this particular reason unless I stay up all night. ;_;
>>
>>38844217
Japan is certainly an interesting study, glad to see another person with similar reasoning as my own. I also find it interesting to look at what happened when we effectively castrated Japan following WW2. Just watching how a society tried to put itself back together is astounding.

I'm hazy when it comes to syncretic religions. Actual Buddhism does not have religion, but Japan got their Buddhism from CHina and not India, so I do believe that Chinese Buddhism is... different from the Buddhism we're familiar with.

Welp/ It's interesting, all right. And highly fucked up.

Oh? So she gets a little bit drunk with power and starts trying to 'reclaim' her Osean and Ustian friends 'clay'? And all but force them back to her 'lebensraum'?
Are you sure Lara is the gropey one?

and yes Lara is the gropey one, also gets pretty hands on with her lips too
