Recently: Vlad has been getting busy and you know have a gigantic pile of eggs at Professor Fir's lab. A film crew is documenting your journey, and you agreed to do product placement instead of more obvious shilling. You're on a ferry to Lace Point, an island off the coast.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes or always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just a 1d100. Sometimes you can get a modifier to make a move more/less accurate, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever!

Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

Aww yeah pokemon quest!

Seeing as we're going to be encountering lapras is there any chance we'll get to take one on for the team? They're great HP tanks ( in game) and lovely companions too outside of the games
>>
If we not able to gamble this thread a riot is going to break out.
>>
>>38854896
I'm sure there's a chance, with how they were mentioned. Do we really want a third water-type, though?

Lapras does have that handy ice subtype though, plus they're lovely creatures in general.

We're good. Jenine, Robin, or Vance might want one though.

“We need to talk about Vance,” you tell Clair as she looks up at you from her bed.

Her angry expression turns to concern. “Why, what happened?”

You fill her in on your conversation with him. He was feeling down and confused about his hesitation to take things further with Jeanine. When they were younger and her brother Vance was starting to ignore his sister and enjoy the attention of girls, Clair did something in his head that dissuaded him from ever really getting with any of them. You know how she deeply regrets that, but she’s never told him, and has been happy to see him seemingly move passed it by getting a girlfriend.

Clair sits up. “First, ew! Second, have you seen Jeanine?” Clair puts her hands in front of her chest, imitating gigantic breasts. “She’s like a supermodel amazon hippie! I bet she does kegels or whatever too. It probably is just nerves.”

“And if it’s not?” You try to keep your tone neutral. You know what a sensitive subject this is even if she’s trying to avoid acting like it.

Clair sighs. “Kat. I...I don’t want Vance to hate me. Maybe I can...I don’t know, go in his head again and fix it. I’m a lot more experienced now.”

>Yeah, that’s not a bad idea. Clair knows what she’s doing now
>No! She needs to just tell him!
>Maybe it actually is just nerves. That’s pretty common. Let's just leave it be for now

Except for the fact that is against the law to capture one. That was a big pony in the last thread. Also surprise Gobble got a few more for ya! Though they gonna be spaced out.

Tough girl Robin?
>>
>>38855298
Sure, but she can tell him after he got over it. Better for everyone.
>>
Clair talks to him about it before anything else. If she just ducks with his head again whose to say it would help? Then again whose to say it wouldn't? This has to come out dinner than later and Clair bringing it up is better for everyone than trying to pretend nothing's wrong. Vance is going to feel betrayed no matter what but Clair taking responsibility beforehand lessens the risk of a rift forming that is uncrossable.
>>
“Yeah, that’s a good idea,” you tell her. “After you tell him, and he agrees to let you!”

She slumps. “You’re a real bitch, you know that? What if it’s nerves and telling him just makes it worse?” She let’s herself flop fully on the bed. “Let’s give it a few days, then I’ll tell him, okay? If it’s nerves, he’ll be over it by then. If not, then we’ll know for sure. Then we can talk about me trying to fix it.”

“A real bitch would have told him,” you counter. Your fists fall from resting on your hips. “I guess that’s a reasonable plan though. We’ll give it three days.”

Clair sighs in relief. “Thanks.”

“It’ll be good to tell him. I was this close to losing Robin because I couldn't get myself to be honest about my past lies. I don't want to have to pick sides between you and Vance when the bubble eventually bursts.”

Clair looks at the ground, uncomfortable.

You think of something to break the silence. “so...kegels?”

Clair laughs. “Figures.” She gives you a brief explanation, squeezing your finger for effect. After that, you both spend some time in silence, pretending like you’re not trying it.

You leave her room and head out. It’s really late now.

You’ll do some gambling tomorrow morning. You’re rolling in money, so there’s no pressure.

Before you go to sleep though, you have one more thing you want to do. You head out onto the deck and feel the night air. There’s a lot of room for you to have a private conversation with Vlad.

Professor Fir told you that the Zubat line tends to have a lot of babies and not really care for them the way humans do. Still, Vlad made a lot of eggs. Maybe he should reign it in. Or maybe this is good for him. You’re not sure how you want to approach this. You’ll have to do something with all those eggs.

You can tell Vlad really likes you, but it’s because you’re always giving him a lot of freedom. You know his evolution hinges on his affection. You’re worried you might say the wrong thing, but you have to say something.

“Come on out!” You throw his Pokeball to the sky. Vlad does his signature loop and flies around you excitedly.

“Well, you’re in a good mood,” you catch him gently out of the air and start petting him. “Listen, Vlad, we should talk.”

>Tell him he can’t keep making eggs. No more outings on his own.
>He needs to slow down and settle down. Just keep it under control, okay?
>Way to go Vlad! Keep up the good work you lady killer!

You high five his wing. “You lady killer, you!”

He licks your face with his massive tongue.

“No wonder you’re so popular with the ladies,” you joke as you give him a soft nuggie. You’re pretty glad nobody else heard that. You think only Vance would appreciate your sense of humor on that one. “I guess you take after me.”

Vlad flies around, ecstatic. You watch how fast and graceful he can be, but you see the strong muscles pumping underneath. He must be popular because he’s so strong.

He has a lot of energy too. It must be because it’s night.

You take out one of the toys you bought a long time ago and start playing with Vlad. You toss it out and Vlad zooms out to catch it in the air long before it hits the water.

“You’re really fast,” you comment. “Must be those strong wings.”

That seems to motivate him to go even faster. You throw two, the three out. He snatches them all out of the air.

“Alright, alright. Let’s play another game,” You balance a toy on your head, “Think you can grab it without messing up my hair? I want to keep on looking great, you know.”

Vlad zooms into the darkness, then suddenly fires over your head. You have to check the top of your head to make sure the toy is gone. You didn’t even feel it!

He flies down into your arms again. This time you play a game you can participate in too. Patty-cake!

You think back to the day you caught him. He was actually the second Zubat you threw a Pokeball at. “I’m really I caught you, Vlad.”

He stops what he’s doing and thinks. You can't explain it, but you feel a lot closer to him. He looks like he feels the same way. You think he's ready to go beyond being a Golbat very soon.

You're exhausted. You put Vlad away and stumble back to your bedroom. Robin is fast asleep on the bed, wearing a sexy little number.

You slip into bed and snuggle in close to Robin, giving her a quick peck on the cheek before falling asleep.

You wake up the next morning feeling pretty tired, but not exhausted. Robin’s in the room, playing with Sylveon, Joltik, and Vulpix. “Morning!”

“Morning. Sorry about taking so long last night.”

Robin blushes. “I-it’s okay...”

“I’ll make it up to you later,” you promise.

The two of you meet everyone else for breakfast. You see the camera is already rolling on Jeanine, Clair, and Vance.

Jeanine looks up. “Hey Robin, did you give any more thought to what we talked about?”

Robin nods, “I think it’s probably a good idea, it just feels weird.”

They must see the confusion on your face. Jeanine pulls your attention. “We talked about trading Pokemon. Her Houndour and my ditto.”

“Why?” Vance says between bites.

“I always felt like Houndour doesn’t like battling much,” Robin says. "But my dad didn't care."

“And Ditto seems to really want to, but I can’t really give it the battles I think it wants,” Jeanine says.

You pile some food into your gullet, stalling for time while you think.

“I can’t really say anything. I mean, I guess you can always trade back if it doesn’t work, but it’s ultimately up to you two.”

Robin and Jeanine both nod, respecting your limited input.

“Lets do it when we get to the island,” Robin says with newfound conviction. “I think it’s best for both of them.”

Well, you guess you’ll see how it goes. You hope everyone knows what they’re doing.

“So,” Vance says as he starts gobbling down the food Jeanine left on her plate. “Are you going to hit the casino? Seems like a tradition at this point.”

You smile. “Yes. Yes I am.”

You’re already getting use to the camera. You see it zoom in out of the corner of your eye.

“I’m going to play some poker, right after breakfast!” You start shovelling the rest of your plate down. You can’t wait.

“Doesn’t Jeanine look hot today?” You can Clair saying to Vance.

He looks really confused, like he’s expecting some sort of insult. “Uhh, sure. I guess.”

“”You guess!” Clair forces a laugh. “Ha! You kidder. If I were you, I’d be all up in that. Like, right now.”

Vance gives her a weird look as he chews his food.

Eventually you head over to the poker tables. Robin excuses herself, but everyone else sticks around to watch. There are a few tables with varying buy-in amounts.

You figure the game will wrap up just in time for you to arrive on the island. You should decide how much you’re going to go in.

You play for a good while, not gaining anything or losing anything. At the last minute, you pull ahead and make a small winning and turn in your chips before the game ends.

“Figures,” Vance pats you on the back. “You usually bring down the house, but the one time cameras are rolling you don’t get lucky.”

“M-must have been nerves,” Robin offers.

You, Clair, and Vance all look awkward. Luckily the intercom announces that you’re arriving. Everyone starts packing up and getting ready to debark.

The port looks like something out of an ancient world history book, except for the little bits of technology hiding here or there. There’s a stone path leading up the port to a cobblestone paved city. Trees cover the island everywhere there isn’t a path.

You head into the Pokemon center at the edge of town. Even though your Pokemon are still fresh, you figure that’s always the best place to make your first stop. Those woods look interesting though. You make a mental note to head into them later.

The nurse there looks bored out of her mind, and shocked when she sees you. “Oh, people! Hi! Welcome to our Pokemon center.”

“It’s pretty dead in here,” Clair comments. Master of subtlety. “You’d think there’d be more tourists here.”

“You don’t know?” The nurse looks surprise. “There’s plenty of tourists, but everyone’s downtown. It’s the royal parade.”

Now that she mentions it, you can hear a lot of cheering and noise in the distance.

“Come on! Let’s go check it out!” Jeanine grabs Vance’s arm excitedly.

“Who cares,” Clair says. “They’re just some more plain old people as far as I’m concerned.”

The nurse looks offended at Clair’s remark, but doesn’t say anything.

“Sure. The parade sounds fun!”

You haven’t ever been to one. Well, not a real one anyway. Your home town had some very small parades for local events, but it was just a bunch of townspeople watching some terribly painted vehicles go by. It was a great place to pick pockets though.

Huh. Been awhile since you thought about that.

You start leaving when the nurse calls out to you. “This is a weird question, but you look really familiar. Have I seen you before?”

You look to the director. “We haven’t put anything to air yet. The footage we sent back is stil being edited.”

You shrug. “Uh, I don’t think so, sorry.” The nurse doesn’t look familiar at all. Well, she looks like all the other nurses.

You walk towards the parade. Before get there, you tell Clair to keep any negative comments to herself. You don’t want to make people angry for no good reason.

“Making people angry IS a good reason,” Clair says. “Most people are at their most honest when they’re angry.”

Everyone glares at her.

She sighs. “But yeah, sure. Zipping it for now I guess.”

The parade grounds are packed! People crowd into the streets, waiting for the royal family to come by. There’s a bunch of old medieval looking soldiers marching down the street first. Confetti and balloons are everywhere.

>Get right in close. You want a front row view!

You grab a quick snack from a vendor for everybody and sit back at a distance. You’re not watching the parade, you’re watching the crowd.

Jeanine, Clair, and even Robin head in closer to get a better view. Vance stays back with you.

“You told me before I need to get better at reading my opponent. I figure this is good training.”

Well, you sure feel like a wise coach now. “Alright. Keep your eyes peeled.” You take a bite and chew it. “You’re looking for people that fit in.”

“Everyone fits in,” Vance comments.

“No, they don’t. See that couple? Look how awkward they are. I bet they like each other but they’re not going out yet. And that guy with his daughter on his shoulders. He’s not even watching the parade, just trying to keep her ice cream from melting on him. That man with the camera is fussing over the lighting and angle.”

“...You’re right. None of them really fit in. They all look awkward in their own way.”

You nod. “A forest of trees that don’t fit. They don’t belong on the street. But see that old lady right there? She looks natural, like a fixture on the street. She's a human fire hydrant. Watch her.”

True to form, the old lady bumps into someone. You and Vance just barely catch her take a wallet before apologizing to her victim for being so clumsy.

The camera crew are focusing on your other friends and the parade. The only people that saw that go down were you and Vance.

You let her go.

“We’re not going to do anything?” Vance looks shocked. “She just stole that wallet!”

You watch the old lady. She takes the money and drops the wallet on the street. Someone will find it and return it.

You finish eating your food and stretch. “Nah. She’s alright.”

The woman pockets the money and buys some food from a vender. She eats it like she's hungry.

Vance looks like he wants to say something, but he catches himself. “I guess that’s fine.” He doesn’t seem overly happy about it, but he respects your wishes. "Things aren't always so black and white, are they?"

“Well, let’s go watch with the others and-” You pause. There’s someone putting up a poster with a sketch of your face! It says to report any sightings of you to the royal guard right away.

“What are you looking at? Vance asks, but he can see it by the time he finishes his sentence. “What? That’s you!”

You glance around. Nobody has seen you yet, but the person is putting up a second poster.

You keep your head down out of instinct as the royal family goes by, flanked by guards. “Vance, get everybody and meet me over there,” you point to a heavily shaded area behind some trees.

He nods and you slip away through the crowd. You grab a poster off a wall in a swift motion as you dodge between people. You look over it after getting to where you were going.

Lets see. It says you’re wanted for questioning, but not under arrest. It doesn’t say why. Just that you’re a person of interest. The sketch is uncanny though, that’s got to be you.

But why?

Your friends arrive with Vance. It looks like the camera crew has followed too, but they’re just filming. You guess this makes good TV, regardless of the circumstances.

Everyone takes a turn looking at the poster.

“But you didn’t anything!” Jeanine says, shocked. “Err... you didn’t, right?”

“Of c-c-course she didn’t!” Robin steps in to defend you.

Clair looks into the crowd, focusing on a guard. “Ugh. Big crowd, lot of emotions and voices flying. But that guy thinks finding the girl on the poster is hopeless. He feels pity for the queen. Oh, the queen herself ordered this. She’s looking for...answers? Closure? He thinks professor Cedar is giving false hope.”

The guard gets lost in the crowd.

“I lost him,” Clair says. “Surface thoughts are easier. I had to dig for that. He had the stupid Escape Rope jingle in his head and now it’s stuck in mine.”

“Is there a reward?” You ask.

Jeanine goes over the poster. “Doesn’t look like it.”

“I didn’t read anything about it from the guard,” Clair says.

You ask Jeanine you talk to a guard and make absolutely sure there’s no danger or missing information. If it’s fine, she can bring him back. She goes to find one and returns after a short wait.

The guard looks shocked. “We found her,” He quickly radios in. “Miss, I need you to come with me.”

More guards quickly converge on your location.

You’re not sure about his tone. “What about my friends, and the camera crew?”

“We’re all going together,” you state, “or none of us are.”

The guards look at each other, unsure of how to handle this. A massive one steps forward, dwarfing even Vance.

“It’s fine,” he looks down at you and your friends. “We won’t get any trouble from a bunch of teenagers and some silly camera crew.” He glances at the director. “But when I say that thing goes off, it goes off. Understood?”

Mr. Kroustou nods and gulps.

The guards escort you and your friends to the palace. You keep checking your Pokeballs, making sure they’re at the ready. It’s a strange if short journey, being led to such an obscenely fancy place. You go through the gates, and then arrive in the front lobby. Guards break from flanking you and take positions at the stair entrances.

You see a young man eating an apple walking at the top of the stairs, with a younger girl in a very fancy dress following. He stops when he sees you. He points with the hand still holding the half eaten apple. “Uh, who are they?”

The massive lead guard takes a knee. “My prince. Your parents asked us to bring this girl. I cannot say why.”

He studies you and your friends, then tosses the apple core backwards. A servant catches in and bows out of the room.

“Well, I should introduce myself. I’m prince Arledge.” He takes a bow and kisses your hand. “May I have the pleasure of knowing your name?” You can read this guy like a book. His eyes linger on all the wrong spots.

You pull your hand back. “I’m Kat,” you say simply. “I’m just here to get some answers.”

“Rude,” he comments. “Very uncouth. I like that. Most girls just say what they think I want to hear. Come girl, I shall give you a tour.”

“Excuse me!” The smaller girl says. “That’s not how you’re supposed to address commoners.” She offers you a curtsy. “Mom and dad says to treat everyone like they’re royalty, remember? Ask, don’t command.”

He rolls his eyes. “Mom and dad aren’t here.”

She ignores him. “I’m princess Beatrix. It is a pleasure to meet you.”

Everyone turns to the loud commotion coming from behind. You see what can only be the king and queen, flanked by guards all around. One of them whispers to the royal couple, and the rush to your location.

The large guard turns to the television crew. “Camera off. Now.”

The queen looks at you in amazement. The king does too, but it’s much more reserved.

“It’s her, Gerald. Look at her. My baby has come home!” She rushes passed everyone and hugs you, the covers you in kisses. “I’m so sorry. I missed you so much.”

You freeze, feeling completely stunned by the situation.

“...what.” You finally manage some words. Not as eloquent as you hoped.

The king gently pulls her off. “Dear. We don’t know anything for sure yet.” He looks to you. “I’m sorry. This must be terribly confusing. Let’s take a walk, shall we?”

“Uhh, sure...” You say. You and your friends walk with the king and queen around the back, towards massive, lush gardens. Robin gives your hand a squeeze. She’s equally as confused and speechless. Even Clair has a sympathetic look. Vance and Jeanine look protective, like some animal is threatening their young.

“I think there’s been a mistake,” you say. “I’ve been an orphan my whole life.”

The queen seems more composed now, but she looks like she’s on the verge of having a breakdown. She mutters. “It’s her. It has to be.”

The king seems apprehensive. “Maybe I should explain. Just over sixteen years ago, we had a young, baby daughter. She was our first born. The heir to the throne.” He sighs heavily. “There was an...incident, and the child went missing.”

“I turned my back for a minute,” the queen mumbles. “Just a minute. Out in this very garden.”

Jeanine covers her mouth.

“...I read about this,” Robin says. “You think that baby is Kat?”

“Dear, maybe you should get yourself some water.”

The queen fidgets and paces, looking both incredibly posh and overwhelmed. She eventually leaves to fetch a servant.

The king looks off over the garden as his wife. “I don’t know. We were just very recently made aware of an imaging technique to see what our daughter would look like.” He clenches a fist. “My wife had managed to forgive herself, but this whole episode has sent her on a downward spiral.” He turns to you with a little suspicion. “I’d like to run DNA testing on you immediately.”

You and Clair exchange a look. You can tell she’s already on it.

You nod. “I agree. We should do a test.”

“I don’t want you to get your hopes up,” You both say in unison.

There’s a long, awkward pause.

“If this will help the queen, then I agree it’s a good idea. But we should treat it like a failure no matter what. This isn’t my life. I think you should do multiple labs too,” you say. “What can you tell me about the imaging technique, and who did it for you?”

His apprehension drops a bit. “I’m impressed. You’re a smart girl.” He describes the science behind the imaging. You look to Robin to keep track of that. “The researcher in charge is a professor Cedar. My people tell me he’s a bit of a recluse, but has an impressive research history. Unfortunately he doesn’t live in this region, so our communications have been by videophone.”

The queen comes back, followed by a servant with tea and treats. “I understand you’ve come to use the name Kat,” she says, a little unsure of herself. “I’d like to apologize for my outburst earlier.”

“Dear, she’s agreed to do testing,” the king says. “It’s my understanding these things take...”

“Approximately 24 hours, sire,” a servant says.

“24 hours,” the king repeats. “Would you and your friends like to stay with us in that time?”

You look to your friends. None of them have any objections. You can’t see the director or camera crew anywhere.

Clair gives you a look. She hasn’t found anything that contradicts what they’ve been telling you so far.

You have to admit, you share a lot of features with them. The queen has this hopeful look in her eyes that reminds you a bit of yourself.

Stop it. You’re imagining things.

“Yeah. Yeah, okay. We can stay. But first, I’d really like to talk to this professor Cedar, if I can.” You fiddle with your Pokeballs.

The queen motions for the servants, and they get to work arranging a call. “We’ll see if he’s in right away. Of course! Anything you want!”

“Josephine...” the king says. He looks really concerned for her. At least it’s not some loveless marriage.

She gets a hold of herself. “My apologies. Let us go to the calling room.”

All of you head to the so-called calling room. It’s a massive room with a huge screen. As it flickers on, you’re greeted with an unfamiliar face. He looks down at you, showing a surprised expression.

“You found her!” he exclaims. “So quickly! It must be fate!” He looks just like a typical scientist. Old, grey hair, lab coat, horn-rimmed glasses. He has an almost grandfatherly look about him.

Huh. You were really expecting someone else.

Maybe this is legitimate after all.

Or maybe it’s not a good idea to get your hopes up, idiot.

“Professor Cedar, I’m Kat,” you introduce yourself.

“Well, that may not be the case,” he corrects. “Your name might end up actually being Sera.”

Your eyes narrow, but you keep your tone diplomatic “You should know that we’re doing multiple DNA tests.”

He smiles warmly, despite the implication. “Of course. That’s a perfectly logical thing to do.” He playfully wags a finger. “But my lab will get the results first! We’re very good.”

“I look forward to it,” You do your best to avoid sounding cold. “I’m sure we’ll be sending a sample shortly.”

“Can’t wait,” He says cheerfully. “Sera.”

He seems awfully confident.

“Can I make a call?” You ask.

“Of course. Anything at all,” The queen's calmed down. This time it’s a warm, supportive smile instead of the desperate she was giving you before. “If you’d like, I’ll call you Kat for now. You seem more comfortable with that.”

“Uh, thanks.” You feel really, really weird about everything happening.

The king and queen wait outside the room, letting you make your call in private.

“Hello?” Professor Fir answers. “Oh, hello Kat.” He laughs. “You wouldn’t believe what the caller ID says right now.”

You fill him in on everything. He’s as surprised as you are.

“Of course I’ll do a test. Send a sample right away.”

“Thanks,” you tell him. He’s always been tripping over himself to help you. You’re feeling especially vulnerable right now, and it’s good to have an adult in your corner who actually cares. You swallow that down for now though. You don’t want to feel anything for a little while longer. You know how bad this will mess you up if you dwell on any of it. You just need to keep moving.

My reaction to this would have been to fly into a mad rage fueled by spite and denial. Even if I found out irrefutably that these people were my parents I would probably flip my shit all the harder, and throw whatever bullshit they offered me right back into their faces for failing me hard as fuck.

Honestly, I'm just really insecure about coming from a poor background, having someone dangle status and wealth in my face like they have power over me based on whether or not they decide to give a fuck about my existence is really aggravating. As if I'd take their faggot pity money anyway.

>>38866543

I don't get what your saying.

Flipping the fuck out would have been acceptable because it's wealthy people dragging you with force to their home.

"You might be my daughter. Stay."

If we're not they're going to toss her out again.

But DNA COULD BE FAMILY OMG ZOMG SO NEAT!

Instead of justified anger at being treated like shit.

Either by A Being lost or abandoned as a child. Or B Just some random "peasant" who was dragged off the street because she looks like their long lost daughter.

You send some money for the zubats. You have way too much to deal with right now, so you figure the safe choice is to just keep them fed and at his place when they hatch.

“What do you know about a Professor Cedar?”

He thinks hard. “I’ve never heard of him. Hold on.” You see Fir go off screen. You hear him asking his assistants about it. He returns. “Sorry, nothing. That might not mean anything though, especially if he operates in another region. There are are a lot of professors.” He can see there’s a serious look in your eyes. “But I’ll look into it.”

“Thank you,” you say. You’re really starting to feel the emotional weight. You feel your walls crack a bit as little bits of anger, guilt, desperation, confusion, self-pity, joy, and everything else leaks in. You take a breath and force it away.

Robin puts a hand on your shoulder. You look her in the eye in appreciation, but then suffer a small hit of guilt as you see her eyepatch.

You take another breath. This is going to be a long 24 hours.

Guys not me, but I feel it's OK for me to project a bit in this circumstance considering I have a background similar enough to Kat's (Mom walked out on me, alcoholic dad. Not an orphan, but I did not enjoy life one bit.) that I can empathize with the situation.

>>
>>38866827
Dude, the fact of the matter is even if I am projecting a bit, it's still in character for Kat.

What I said can be interpreted thusly.

A. These people are intolerable asshats because blah blah blah
B. It makes sense for Kat to feel the same way
C. I understand these things because I empathize with this situation

Just because C is projection doesn't invalidate the rest.

Hell, I was just being honest. If I said the same exact shit except at the end I said "At least that's how I think Kat would react, though those feelings in no way reflect my feelings." it would still be perfectly plausible.

Learn to avoid ad hominem arguments yo.
>>
>>38866913
And I'm saying you misunderstand the situation exactly because you are projecting, and therefore it does, in fact, invalidate the rest.

And I'm just being honest too. I think your (and the other guy's) reactions of FLIP THE FUCK OUT NOW BE ANGRY AT EVERYTHING are grossly unreasonable and very, very stupid, given the circumstances.

Because my understanding of Kat's character is that she's a lot smarter than that despite (or possibly because of) her background.
>>
>>38866940
It's not about smarts. It's about understanding when you're looked down on. Just because the people treating you like a shitstain aren't doing so with malicious intentions doesn't mean they aren't being pricks to you.

When someone wastes your time on a whim and treats you like you should be grateful for the possibility of being related to them because they have money and power it's natural to be upset.

But you know what let's just take it down a notch, I don't wanna quarrel with you man.

It would be a mistake to flip our shit right now, or ever, about this shit. I concede that. But can you at least agree that they're being patronizing as hell about it all?
>>
>>38867011

How's this for a rebuttal to the royals?
>>
>>38867011
Possibly. What i'm seeing is the Queen flipping out and being too emotional to think straight; and the King being extremely worried that this is a gigantic scam. Not just because of the possibility of someone abusing their desire to get their daughter back to become Heir to the throne and crown princess, but also of the effects on his family - his wife lost their daughter once and by his account it fucked her up for years. What do you think losing her a second time could do? This trauma goes both ways.

I'm taking into account circumstances - what clair found while mind reading; cedar's anonymity, etc.

So yeah, they're keeping Kat at arm's length, and yeah I suppose it comes off as patronising. But from what i'm seeing it's a perfectly reasonable thing for them to do in this situation, unpleasant or not.
>>
>>38867081
The way they had her brought in is patronizing. A more formal invitation of some kind would have been nice instead of a "WANTED FOR QUESTIONING" poster.

That just sent me the wrong message at the get go.
>>
>>38867098
I'd have expected a more discreet method of searching, honestly. The Wanted poster comes off less patronising as just plain stupid.

I almost get the feeling the King had them put up to appease his wife who's hopes were all gotten up by the imaging crap and was being insufferable about it, not that it was an actual serious attempt at locating a long-lost daughter.

Alternately, the Queen is just that stupid and did it herself because she actually thought it'd work. I dunno, I don't know enough about them to make a call yet..
>>
>>38867081
The king is suspicious we're a lowly thief after his money (Once upon a time that would have been a wise assumption). He seems to have a change of heart halfway through meeting us, but still.

The Queen thinks we're her daughter, and that our life was an accident she wants to fix. Cedar feels the same way, though his reward isn't a daughter, it's probably an assload of cash.

A Prince that is happily surprised we're not a bootlicking scrub like he expected us to be, but still refers to us as "girl" despite having just been told our name.

And a Princess that reminds him it's their duty to be courteous even if we are a commoner.

Honestly the princess is the only one not infantilizing us in some manner.

We shouldn't throw anything in their faces, but we do need to come up with some kind of method of weathering this with our dignity intact at the end. We need to make it abundantly clear that we're because of our generosity in helping with their peace of mind, not because we're greedy for their stuff or because the told us to.
>>
Are people really this upset about the whole situation? Especially since it isn't nearly as patronizing as people seem to think? Whenever royalty is involved people will take the most minor of things and say they are looking down on them. It's almost a guarantee really.

So when we look into it next time we're gonna find out from other scientists that Professor Cedar is completely legit, and the DNA tests are all gonna come back positive, right? Because at this point I feel like that's the "twist" here: for once it's not a trick or a mistake, and we're actually stumbled onto our family. More of a twist, they're not addicts, gamblers, or drunks, but royalty.

I can see that being huge for Kat, whose entire worldview seems to have been built up around assuming she'd never meet her parents and would just be disappointed if she ever did.

They don't?

Most of the removals of monarchy in the last 100, 150 years has been through forced abdication, not assasinaton.

Like, The French and Russians got violent. that's... pretty much it.
