Interlude: Cover Band

You relax into your seat after finishing sorting through more paperwork than you would care to ever see again in your life. The business dealings and power of representation entrusted in you as an idol manager are usually less involved, but working for a single idol and managing her affairs with total trust, control, and confidence beyond her occasional veto is draining.

Your name is Sugao Saito, and you have just managed to complete review and approval of a number of license agreements for your charge’s hit single. C’est la vie will be featured in numerous still filming and in final production television and film properties. It will appear in assorted dance and music games. Even the reprint rights for those IPs for streaming services have been purchased and paid for.

“Haha,” you laugh and set down your pen and stretch your fingers, “Victory at last,”

Managing Venus Aino’s young career has been a joy, and not just as the goose that laid the golden egg, because of her youthful exuberance and acquiring her mother as a business connection.

Your good mood is broken by the arrival of your assistant.

“Excuse me, sir,” he says quickly and with some deference as he presents a folder to you, “This just arrived and everything is in order accept for your approval and signature,”

“Argh, I knew this freedom was fleeting,” you grouse and take the paperwork and wave the youngster off, “Thank you,”
>>
>>38855453
Opening the folder you find a standard cover performance license and cover recording license. Other small artists and bands performing covers of Venus’s work is expected, and after fair purchase quite encouraged. Mostly though you expected to deal with Disc Jockey remix and sampling, but this looks like an actual band.

Reading through the information, your blood suddenly runs cold. A familiar band name catches your, and the recording company sponsoring their bid for cover rights. Its only Venus’s first album...these hoodlums are already targeting her?!

You need to contact your charge immediately. She has to know. You drop the paperwork as you go for your phone, letting it splay across your desk. A photograph clipped to the forms slides out, revealing them in all their controversial glory.

The makeup prevents their age from being properly known, but given how recently they showed up and when their shows are...they are likely young. Four of them, four demons of music. The lithe witch in very little leather, face hidden by the brim of a black hat. The hulking and fat oni, painted blue and clad in piecemeal armor and tiger pattern tights. The slim and dapper suited devil with red skin and a drawn pencil moustache. And ahead of them, white hair cascading almost to the floor and framing the black and white skull makeup on his face, clad in a ruined straight jacket and leather pants.
>>
>>38855497
Demons. Four demons who take the hopeful and happy efforts of idols and perform them, only to suffuse and rebirth them in grunge and metal and gothic horror…and then perform them alongside their original works. They’re local. They’re small but with a cult following, but now...

Someone gave them a record deal…

“Moshi Moshi!” chimes the innocent child on the other end of the phone call.

“Ah! Venus-chan. I am so glad I caught you,” you take out your handkerchief and dab at your forehead, “Could you swing by the studio. I need you to review a cover license request which I strongly suggest we turn down,”

Interlude: Sticky Silk

“Tracking her comings & goings has been difficult lately,” you frown as the report concludes, “We have seen a general uptick in time spent in the company of Midori Mori. Mori herself has been spending more time with the undesirables; the morning of the Tokyo Tower event, they were seen in the company of Kairi Osaka and Mikage Chiba,”

“This is not looking good,” you bite your lip in upset, feeling the shared empathic relationship you’ve cultivated with the assembled fan club tug with uncertainty, “We need to reduce our measures in tracking Keiko-sama...once school resumes we must target the undesirables...make them feel unwelcome not only in our idol’s presence, but in the school itself,”

There are murmurs of acceptance and agreement from the crowd, the pale flicker of dark energy behind their eyes bringing any dissenting opinions you feel across this bond to heel. Your club has grown, almost doubled in size.

“For now, divert attention to spreading our gospel to your classmates before school resumes. Then, when it does resume, we can begin taking action to protect our idol,” you steeple your fingers and smile.

“What if they don’t back down,” barks a gruff and recent convert to your club, “She isn’t called Princess No because she does what other people tell her,”

You pause and clench your fist. Anger rises up and feeds the power within you. Reclining into your woven throne of soft strands, you snarl.

“If she doesn’t take the hint. Then we remove her,” there is a murmur of chittering agreement from the floor and ceiling, “Neither of them deserve to join our family or bask in the presence of our idol. Club dismissed,”

They fall silent, and make their way to the doors. Walking single file or crawling back to the ground along the walls when space opens up. Your club members, soldiers bound to your will, would die for the glory of your idol.

And perhaps, so will the undesirables.

Quest Start:

Well, this is weird.

In front of you is an exceptionally unconscious woman, who is probably some kind of shadow monster or doppelganger, that your best friend has tied to a chair inside the abandoned remains of a possessed mad scientist’s underground laboratory. The only lights are those the two of you brought with you, their white electric glow casting long shadows on the wall.

You are Mikage Chiba, second year high school 15 years old, and a long time ago you were the third person to be the Champion of Love & Justice Sailor Moon. In fact you are in the very place where you stopped being Sailor Moon.

A year and a half ago, you thought you killed a man you were trying to save. He was the father of the girl standing beside you now, Kairi Osaka. Said girl was, just hours prior to that unfortunate death, turned into a huge and powerful monster inside of this very lab by a thing wearing her father’s corpse as a suit.

You were able to save her, else how would she be beside you now, but unable to save her father. For a long time, you believed that you had killed the man. Theoretically, just being back in this place should have reduced you to inconsolable and uncontrollable tears...and yet you feel a strange detachment instead.
>>
>>38855619
Kairi, likely reliving and remembering her probably torturous forced transformation, had such a breakdown. You comforted her and cried your own tears, though you don’t know if they were sympathetic or your own lingering feelings about this place. The weight on your side reminds you, briefly, that you still might break down. There is a case, handle held firmly in your hand, containing something you left behind in this place on that terrible night. It found its way back to you...and when you were told you needed to investigate this place...you brought it with you.

“Six zip ties, two feet of duct tape, and three meters of nylon cord,” Kairi brushes her hands off on her pant legs, “Think it’ll hold her?”

~I wouldn’t have asked you to tie her up if I didn’t think it would do anything. I’m only really worried about her nails,~ you shrug.

“Nah, her fingers are taped together and splinted,” she huffs, “She won’t have range of motion to cut herself loose. I’m just worried about her magicking her way out,”

You chuckle to yourself.

~Maybe...but its two on one...even if she could prove challenging,~ you sigh before smirking, ~but luckily I know exactly where she’s vulnerable,~

“That’s a bit cruel for you,” she giggles.

~Blame it on Miki,~ you stick your tongue out at her.

This young woman had been stalking you in the lab, invisibly. Upon calling her presence out, it caused her to fall faint. Careful inspection revealed this was not a ruse.

>Wake up your guest, time for an interrogation

I'd say persuade. Seems too skittish for threats, either she already gets them too much or will just panic.
Go for persuasion, we have or means to employ if that really doesn't work out.

Makes sense, either from a 'good cop' angle or just being nice because Moon clan.

Don't forget Healing and Friendship.
>>
>>38857878
>>38857924
How do you rate the potentials.

I know Kairi is top tier right now.
>>
>>38858113
Kairi's waifu powerlevel is by far the highest right now.
Sasha leads the husbando charts too.

That said we still need Aiha time before we make that decision. And I still think Gai a cute.
>>
>>38858167
Personally I find Aiha better as a waifu than Kairi. Kairi is perfect as a best friend like she is now.
>>
>>38858167
I still think Keiko is the best Waifu.

Plus Yoshi should some screen time, we know almost nothing about him.
>>
>>38858259
Aiha would be great waifu.
I'm also thinking Kairi may be taken by Gai very soon.
>>
>>38858265
When it comes to guys, Mikage clearly likes her boys bad these days. Yoshi comes across as too much of a good and dependable guy in the few bits we've seen of him as readers.
>>
>>38858362
That's old Yoshi though. New Yoshi might have a wild hair to him that we don't know about because of the trauma
>>
Rin is awesome.
Just sayin'.
>>
>>38858403
Well, we had a friendly relationship with him in middle school, it may have been something more.

We seem dismissive and almost hostile to him now. We seemed to like the idea that he got us those classmate signatures...but then went harsh on him when we learned he got them while collecting signatures for Keiko.

So, a girl he may or may not have dated in middle school shuts him out for over a year, and then just repeatedly pushes him away.
>>
>>38858520
>Well, we had a friendly relationship with him in middle school, it may have been something more.

I think artemis himself confirmed that it was something more.

It's just it was something more juuust before the trauma happened. After that we associated him with all the bad things in our school life and abandoned him.

If him being jealous of Sasha is anything, he's never gotten over us.
>>
>>38858712
He seems like the kind of guy who wouldn't be playing the field.

I like Sasha, but it would be nice to at least know something about the other guy.
>>
>>38858821
School soon.

>>38858906
Of course, how could I forget about the end of spring break.

May I suggest we purchase a can of raid?

Well, might as well try to get some answers. What was this monster girl doing here? Was she following you? How the hell did she even know to follow you? Time to get some answers.

~Alright, Kairi-chan,~ you say with a sweet smile, ~Do you have a canteen in your bag of tricks,~

“Indeed I do,” she nods and passes you the wide bottle from her bag.

Unscrewing it and pouring a cap full, you approach the bound and unconscious young monster and gently shake her shoulder.

~Wake up,~ you sing a bit and keep your smile keen as she groans.

Bringing the the cap to her lips, in her awakening daze, she drinks the water greedily. The unexpected quenching makes her eyes snap open and she looks about worriedly. Kairi is at the edge of the lantern light, her flashlight is off. It might as well be just the two of you.

“Ah!” she chokes a bit on the water.

~Easy,~ your lips offer soothingly word as you rub the small of her back, ~Wasn’t expecting you to faint when I called you out,~

“Y-you,” she stutters and strains against her bonds, “How did you see me! No one should see me! Stop looking at me!”

~No need to be so panicked,~ you’ll play good cop for now, if it doesn’t go anywhere it’ll be time to play vampire cop, ~Why were you following me?~

You slide around behind her, breaking eye contact and letting go of her shoulders. She doesn’t like to be seen, does she? Your mind drifts back to your earlier thought, a vampire cop would make an awesome drama series or manga.
>>
>>38859009
“I...I wasn’t following you. I don’t even know who you are,” she explains and seems to calm down.

~Oh, who were you following?~ you ask plainly.

“I wasn’t following anyone,” she pleads, still uneasy, “I was sent here to pick something up,”

~Lucky for us then,~ you click your tongue and rub the trembling girl’s shoulders, ~What are you? Why do you hate being seen?~

She freezes, tears well at the edges of her eyes. You shush her fears and whisper softly that everything will be okay.

“People never notice me…” she begins, “Or they never did. I didn’t like being lonely, but I hated being noticed...I had problems,”

She shivers a bit in her chair and then rattles off quickly.

“Then, then I got infected. It started in my dreams...and I became something else, and the people who made me wanted me to do things,” she turns her head to try to look at you, “I’m so good at not being seen...and I can make other illusions. They wanted to use me, they wanted to make me a weapon. They sent me to make people afraid, but I choked up and chickened out. I didn’t want so many people to see me,”

Hmm...the way she acts. Its like no one has ever been nice to her before.

~Who are they?~

“I don’t know the guy in charge,” she whimpers a bit, “Hiddenite just calls him Lord, so does Amazonite and Doctor Borealis,”

Hiddenite!

~Why are you here?~ you ask her plainly.

“Doctor Borealis said he needed something from here...from a hidden room, he said PIT wouldn’t have found it...but only I could sneak in without somebody noticing,”

~Where is it,~

“In the records room...the wall behind the third bookshelf if magic. Passphrase is ***, it’ll become immaterial,” she shudders a bit.

~Do you like being their weapon?~

“No...they make me do things. I was made early, so even though I have to do as they say I’m...I’m still enough of myself to miss being me,” she cries out, “I’m lonelier...I feel worse about myself everyday,”

You turn to where you see Kairi in the dark and give her a firm nod, calmly you rest your hands on the reluctant monster’s shoulders.

~Do you want freedom from them, do you want to be yourself again?~ you lean down and whisper.

“I do…” she whimpers and whispers, “they made me hurt people,”

Kairi looks away for a moment, in thought, at the lab table where she was transformed into Magician’s final act. This girl’s state is probably a heavy reminder of her own trauma.

~Who is Doctor Borealis?~ you say calmly to the girl as you shift around from behind her to in front of her, meeting her eyes.

You can see the sudden aversion to this in her sunken eyes, she looks askance almost immediately. She could be playing you, but that won’t matter much when you force the darkness out of her.

“He made the stuff that made me a monster. Based off of his own research and stuff taken from here a while ago,” she closes her eyes, “He’s a scientist...he came across nice, but he was actually really scary,”

~What else have you done,~ you cup her chin and make her look at you gently, ~Who have you hurt? It’s alright. I’m not going to judge you,~

She hesitates and looks down into her lap.

“I covered their abduction teams. After what happened at the middle school with the Senshi and the guy calling himself Eclipse...they had me cover their efforts to recruit soldiers,” shakes, “And when the Doctor wasn’t meeting their demands quickly enough...they made me pump him full of his own medicine,”

She continues to struggle and squirm, uncomfortably. A quick look over her shoulder confirms that she hasn’t made any progress or significant effort against her bonds.

“He’s blue now...and big,”

~We’ve met,~ you sigh.

Even though she’s looking straight at you, you’ll be a fleeting spectre to her memory. No one of importance, your face and specific details about you a fleeting memory just beyond her reach.

~Alright then,~ you pitch forward and rest your forehead against her own as she rocks back in the chair frightened, ~Thank you for being so forthcoming,~
>>
>>38862695
You smile. And touch either side of her face, pouring your restorative magic into her. As easy as it would be to sink your fangs into her and draw this corruption from her, for some reason you don’t want to frighten her anymore than she already is. So instead you pour your magic forth and cast the darkness from her soul. It takes time, and effort. By the time you are done your magical reserves ache with use. It took your over a full minute of concentration and expenditure to root out every trace of shadow.

Your stomach whines at the wasted meal. It can go hush itself. It doesn’t own you.

>You have cast Lesser Restoration a butt load of times
>Remaining MP 27

It took well over a minute, but by the time you’re done and lean back, you are looking at a pale girl with sunken eyes, stringy hair, and a dirty school uniform instead of the tatters you first saw her in. A glance over her shoulder reveals no clawed nails extending from her splinted fingers.

“Huh...wha?” she groans groggily.

You recognize this girl, you don’t know her name, but you recognize her. Also remember her, as if you couldn’t before. She’s in your class, sits in the back by the window.

~You’re safe now,~ you smile at her, ~You’re free,~

“I think I’m tied to a chair,” she says weekly and sweats nervously, “T-that’s like the opposite of free,”

~Do you know how you got here?~

“Vaguely,” she mumbles, “A-are you going to…”

~To what?~

“I dunno,” she fidgets and screws her eyes shut and mumbles about things happening like one of her doujins...she also blushes.

Done. Just. Just done.

~Okay,~ you back up and turn toward your unsuited knight, ~Can you handle this? I’m just going to scope out the secret room,~
>>
>>38862728
“Sure,” Kairi steps into the light and crosses her arms, “Hey, Umeki-san, let me get you out of there so we can talk about what happened,”

Well, you know the girl’s family name now. That’s something.

“Osaka-san?” she asks confused and mumbles under her breath in mirth about seeing one of the few girls less popular than her, “W-what are you doing here?”

“Facing my fears,” she says as her eye twitches at the noticed comment; there is no way Umeki doesn’t notice the redness in her eyes as you stalk off into the dark, “You know this is where I got turned into a monster,”

She stares up at your red headed bestie a moment in confusion, perhaps reconciling her own memories of middle school with her likely now fleeting memories as a monster. Kairi begins undoing the girls bonds, carefully.

“Huh...I guess that makes sense,” she reasons and seems confident, “Who was your friend?”

Apparently knowing she’s talking to someone lower on the social totem pole is making her more bold. Lovely.

Approaching the stripped room that you assume to be the study, you force the prescribed bookshelf out of your way and stare at the solid piece of wall.

~***~ you utter the nonsense words given to you and are surprised slightly as the wall ripples.

You are beset by a sudden sensation of grim foreboading.

Hmmm...whatever is beyond this door...okay.

You draw the white domino mask from your pocket and look at it. It gives you a certain amount of strength, the idea of donning this symbol of your authority and heritage.

Sliding it over your eyes, you are clad in white. The cape cascades behind the shoulder pauldrons. You are the daughter of Endymion, the princess of earth.

Summoning the shades of Kunzite and Zoisite to your flank, you take a steadying breath. Flexing your magic, you shield your body and clad your mind in armor.

Something important is beyond this passageway.

~Alright,~ you gird yourself, ~Lets do this,~

And so you advance.

It shimmers and parts, and you gasp.

<No way,> Zoisite sharply breathes in, despite being an incorporeal ghost.

<Can it be?> Kunzite grits his teeth, <That they would do this,>

There, before you are strange consoles flanking a wide tube filled with translucent and glowing blue fluid. Tendrils of dark black hair float about within the tube, suspended. A woman, tall and slender, rests in the water. One of her arms lacks flesh, leaving exposed ebony bone. The exposed muscle and skin seems to grow along the bone and then burn off sporadically.

Her face is eerily familiar. You stare at it for a moment as the machines pump and beep and do other things around you.

Her eyes snap open, and you take a step back. They stare at you, lifelessly. They are deep and red, like your own.

Letting the shock and momentary disgust leave you, you regard the woman.

~uh...sup,~ you offer the woman in the tube and glance at the fleshless black skeletal hand, ~Do you need a hand?~

She says nothing, nor does she react. Amid the assorted readouts you notice electrical charts...EKG maybe? It shows no activity.

<Princess,> Zoisite sighs, <That joke was in poor taste,>

~Why was it in poor form?~ you groan, ~I thought she might like a hand out of there,~

<She wants for nothing,> Kunzite clicks his tongue as he looks at the assorted medical readouts, <This poor husk deserves our reverence and pity, princess,>

~Why does she deserve those things, Kunzite?~ you wonder and place a hand on the glass of the tube.

<She was once a mother, and a kind soul,> the knight marshall of the Shintenou grouses, <Now, this is a defiled corpse clothed in cloned flesh. This was Queen Kalyke of Elysion, mother of Prince Endymion,>

Maybe they're using her as a magic battery or something,
Could be that they need her to claim the Elysion royal bloodline.
Or maybe she lets them to command the Neo-Shittenou.

There's all kinds of evil-ish things they might be using her for.
>>
>>38867717
Whoever's in charge might make do with that, but I can't see anyone claiming themselves to be a shittenou, neo or otherwise, putting up with that.

It seemed to me that there was a strong indication of some Shadow of her being the force behind things or perhaps something playing the part, this seems to be an attempt to bring her to life directly. Which may or may not serve the Shadow Queens's interests.
If the Shitennou's instincts are right, this could be her ancient original bones, which is freaky-scary in it's own right, with a an attempt to regrow the flesh from the obviously deeply corrupted bone material.
>>
>>38869541
Saturn cleansed the solar system because everything still alive would have been tainted by Metallia who is an aspect of Chaos.

The Queen was killed either just before the cleansing or after. She said she died alone and afraid in the pluto interlude.

Whoever JT works for wants this as either a figure head or a false ressurection. Their goal of The Shadow Will Fall is aimed at destroying the lunar legacy and building a new Elysion.

So JT and whoever he works for are survivors of Elysion...and knew where to find these bones. They had JT stealing stones, probably looking for the stones now on the other three neo shintennou's being rezzed. Remember, Amazonite bled black.
>>
>>38869541
given the way she acted in Pluto's vision through the gate, she my have memories when she is awakened.
>>
>>38869592
Eh, I'm leaning more toward the theory that some tainted shadow of the queen was unearth and has inspired a certain billionaire to leading a Cult of Elysium, so to speak, dedicated to 'the Earth and its peoples' and ruling them for their own good no matter the means or cost.

Still believe that Eclipse and Shadow talk on their end is a deeply terrifying foreshadow of this group who has the ability to infect and control things through their literal shadows, and the upcoming eclipse in game. The Moon shall be a vital battleground for the fate of the Earth.

Big questions are things like how exactly did Hiddenite survive directly to the present, what force is really behind things (I'm betting on at least two layers of proxies here), so many questions about the Shadow Queen, and really worrisome concerns about the nanotech thing that was the Magician- every hint more we get about what it was up to is a look further down a rabbit hole.

There is Something it wanted to prepare against and was amoral enough to engage in whatever activities it saw fit to do so.

“Kinda surprised you knew my name,” the dark haired girl grunts and stretches after the last of her bonds are undone,”Nobody really pays attention to me,”

To your surprise, she’s a full head taller than you. That didn’t really didn’t come across in her bound state, nor in your memories of her from class.

“You don’t need to bother with being so surprised, I only picked it up from roll call. I don’t actually remember your first name...or you being so tall,” you sigh and begin packing away the untied rope and used up tape and zip ties.

“ufufufu,” she chortles and lets her sunken and half lidded eyes glance to the side, “That’s because I’m a champion sloucher. If people noticed how tall I was, might wind up the object of ridicule. Then I’d really never make any friends,”

“Then why aren’t you slouching now?” you sigh and rest your hands on your hips.

“Because why bother hiding it from someone even less popular than me. I mean come on, you’re the monste-” she pauses, probably shocked by the challenging glare you are giving her, “Err...I guess we’ve both been monsters...huh?”

“Yeah,” you say, unamused, that she would bring up your school nickname.

“Eh...heheh...well I spent most of my monster time being invisible, so slouching now would probably hurt my back,” she shrinks into herself a bit and has the good sense to be embarrassed.

“Nice save,” you laugh, “Digging yourself out of that hole,”
>>
>>38871740
“T-t-thanks,” she stutters and blushes before clapping her hands to her cheeks and visibly rubbing them before turning away from you...seemingly unaware you can still hear her soliloquy, “Aw man, what do I do. I’m talking to someone who people revile while I’m just ignored. I mean, we’re both friendless losers so maybe I have a shot!”

“While you were away, Mikage-chan and I reconciled,” you explain with exasperation as the girl reels around in shock, “I’m not exactly a friendless loser anymore,”

You leave emphasis on the friendless loser phrase.

“Whaaaaaaaaa?!” her half lidded and sunken eyes snap open and surge forward a bit before biting her thumb and talking to herself, “Oh no. Princess No and Monster Girl joining forces? That means I’m back at the bottom?”

Your eyebrow ticks in annoyance.

She collapses her lanky frame into a squat and hugs her knobby knees into her chest. There is a sudden pallor of defeat clinging to her as some swirling and dark miasma.

“Come on, get up,” you grab the girl’s shoulders and lift.

Releasing the near to panicked girl, you extend a hand.

“I’m Kairi Osaka, its nice to meet you,”

“Uh…” you gesture to your open hand again and stare her down, “Uh, I’m Saori Umeki...nice to meet you,”

She takes your hand and shakes it.

“Well, Umeki-san, I think we have a lot in common. I’d like to help you through dealing with your experiences being turned into a monster,” you offer, if a bit exasperated.

“I...well, I guess that’s okay,” she admits and hides her mouth with her free hand as her eyes take on their usual half lidded and sunken state, “Not that I need it or anythi-EEEEEOUCH, too tight!”

You relax your suddenly tensed grip, and offer a prayer for the patience to not strangle this girl to death before you leave this terrible place.

"Mr. Artemis?" You venture carefully as you step through the scintillating portal of light in the doorway to an empty and mundane Karaoke room.

Through the portal you stand in a brightly lit white room. One part stage sporting karaoke parlor, one part dressing room with a row of vanities, and one part tactical war room. The large bank of giant monitors and computer consoles the owner is working on now

"Hand me the blue soldering crystal array," the owner calls out to you with a paw extended from beneath the main console.

"Ah, yes sir," you nod and search the strange and eclectic assortment of magical, alien, and mundane tools set out on the table.

It continues to unnerve you that proprietor of the Crowne Arcade is a magical talking cat. Further unnerving is that he saw fit to trust you with his identity after you stumbled into the secret lounge. This trust came with a slight uptick in your work availability, and a raise, so you aren't going to continue to rock the boat or freak out.

You hand him the device you think he asked for, and step back a moment while an almost musical sound comes from the monitor bank.

"So, what brings you back here, Yeon? Do we need to order more stock for the kitchen? I know we've been busy with the Highschool closed," the white cat hops out from the console and leaps up to set the device back on the table.

"Actually, you have a visitor," you explain as the portal reopens to your surprise and a girl with long black hair steps through, "and she apparently has a Crowne Pass,"

"Oh," she squeaks in surprise, "I thought I was supposed to distract you and sneak back. I didn't know you were in on the secret, Yeon-san. The girls didn't mention you were when they gave me my pass,"

"Well, actually you're the first of them to come back here as far as I know," you laugh nervously, "Mr. Artemis brought me in when I stumbled upon this room after the younger Chiba-san won her cards,"
>>
>>38891767
"What brings you over today, Sugimoto-san?" Mr. Artemis inquires as his tail snakes back and forth.

"Something is wrong with my transformation. Every time it does something different with my hair," she sighs.

"There haven't been any monster attacks since the tower," the owner muses, "Why are you transforming?"

"...practicing...and my frie- I mean I think I look cute in my Senshi outfit," she blushes and demurely hides her face.

"Well, let's see what the problem is," your boss says.

"Should I head back out?" You ask uncertain.

"No. I won't be able to assume humanoid form for a while yet. I may have need of your fingers," he explains and you nod.

"Sol Power, Make Up!" Sugimoto-san calls and is wreathed in golden light.

When it fades, she is indeed clad as the recently debuted Senshi of the Sun...except her hair is set out in a giant frizzy and glowing puff.

She sighs dejectedly and you struggle not to laugh.

Maybe we can soak her in the node spring we took over?

Carefully and deliberately, as not to disturb your hastily donned wig, you remove the insulated headphones and stare at the laptop screen with critical intent. Your manager and agent had called you into the office so that you could make a decision based on his counsel. For your own purposes, you had given him authority to approve license requests for your intellectual property at fair cost with the condition that you review all matters in which he would like those requests declined.

This is the first time he has had to call you in, and academically you understand why.

“See, Venus-chan,” he smacks his open palm and flourishes at the screen, “Hoodlums and villains. Can you imagine what they’d do to your song,”

You consider the possibilities carefully, and imagine just what this local band could do if given a licence to perform and record a cover of your song. Smiling from ear to ear, you turn to face the eccentrically dressed Sugao Saito and all but cheer.

“I sure can!” you then giggle to yourself.

“Eh?!” both your manager and your caretaker balk at your declaration.

“What?” you bring a finger to your chin and tilt your head a bit to the side as you look up at them, “You too, Sophia-swan? I expected Sugao-san to dislike the idea, but you?”

“You’ll have to excuse me, Miss Aino,” she recomposes herself and takes out a cloth to clean her reflective sunglasses, “You merely caught me off guard,”

“Doesn’t excuse your delivery if you knew I’d react like that,” your manager huffs and dabs his forehead with a handkerchief, “I can’t tell anymore if you’ll be my ticket to early retirement or an early grave, Venus-chan,”

You sigh and lean back into the too large for you reclining office chair. Sugao-san has good taste in comfortable ergonomics, you decide, and kick off his desk lightly and repeatedly to swivel back and forth.
>>
>>38912171
“Don’t bank on an early retirement just yet,” you smile and sigh, “The goal isn’t money, it’s branding and saturation. For my music to touch as many people as I can reach,”

As quickly as you can. You don’t say that part.

You stop your swiveling and hop down, walking around the desk and retrieving your hat from Sophia-swan. Fixing it in such a way to secure your long blonde wig, you turn to your manager and hum loudly in thought.

“The crowd who listens to their music is half of the audience for some of my biggest contemporaries,” you gesture seriously, “If it gets people who might not otherwise hear my music to hear it, I’m all for it. Your request to decline is under review,”

“Under review, but you’ve already listened to their sample tracks-”

“No, I want to meet them,” you explain as Sophia-swan passes you a juice box.

You take a long sip as you watch Saito cycle through his usual over dramatic range of emotions, before he sighs in defeat.

“Very well,” he begins and returns to his now vacant chair, “I’ll contact their contracting company and arrange something,”

“Nothing so formal,” you dismiss the matter and set your box of strawberry flavoring down and look up to Sofia, “When’s their next gig, Sophia-swan,”
>>
>>38912186
“Are you sure that’s wise?” she asks you evenly, “It will likely be very late, and we’ll stand out. Even with your status, they might not let you into the venue,”

“Hmmmmm...well then I just have to be creative,” you hum a happy tune and then smile broadly, “Luckily I think I know someone who’ll fit into that crowd, or at least help me and a few others look the part,”

Any excuse to convince Pinky Bunny-chan to do your makeup is a good excuse; and if she likes the whole dark and brutal thing, this might help cheer her up after everything that went down at the tower.

You are a good friend and a genius. This’ll totally offset the destroyed giant bunny in the revolving door thing she had to witness.

Will we save her bacon? Sounds like she wants a favor from the beast.
>>
>>38914741
I'm pretty sure this isn't a favor as much as she thinks we would want to dress her up fancy-like again.

and we do.
>>
>>38915534
The Red Eyes Beast will beget gothic or death metal Venus-chan!
>>
>>38915585
I wonder what Minako would say if she found out.
>>
>>38916166
Minako might be...out of town when this happens. All the moms might be.
>>
>>38916306
I'm saying IF she found out.

We're banking on that she doesn't.
>>
>>38916405

Minako: They what?

Usagi: calm down, Minachan.

Minako: They went to a dive for a death metal show!

Usagi: yeah, and when I was their age I used the disguise pen to sneak into a jazz club and got drunk.

>>
>>38916738
This has to happen now.
>>
>>38916738
Minako: And they went dressed like WHAT?!
>>
>>38916956

Mamoru: (trusts his kids & his wife's judgement. Gets curious, googles band, reads rumors about lead singer) WHAT?! (Dons Endymion Armor, draws sword)

>>
>>38917388
Incidentally, where is Mamoru on the power spectrum these days? On par with the other Elder Inners, or maybe somewhere between their power level and ours?

Or are we already in a position to eclipse him?
>>
>>38909999
If they secure and get the palace nexus transmitters set up again, then they can tap into their home's power from afar once more, for the first time since ancient times.

Which is bound to be super awesome.

My understanding places the modern scouts, new and old, as far more capable without their planets directly fueling them than they were in ancient times, so combining them would be very potent.
>>
>>38918110
Keiko is left out. We must colonize the Sun.
>>
>>38912194
Once again, Venus-chan is awesome.
>>
>>38918169
Or sink an automated Palace/Nexus into the sun's core?
>>
>>38918206
is she ever not awesome?
>>
>>38918169
I dunno, there might be environmental hazards. Skin cancer, right?
>>
>>38918107
Mamoru is above you in power scale, but below the inner Senshi.
>>
>>38916738
Well we obviously need adult supervision. We should make disguises for Sophia and Saito so we can bring them with us.
>>
So, on deck we have
>Clone Gramgram
>Spider Island/school
>Brutal Concert
>>
>>38923456
>Ghost Hunt
>>
>>38922418
Who else could we tap for chaperone duty?
>>
>>38924363
Yoshi
>>
>>38926529
Not an adult,
>>
>>38923456
Was this Art?

>>38927143
College student that works hard. More adult that most.
>>
>>38927401
Yes, reminding myself of in progress plots, but forgot my trip.

&

Yoshi is 15, and still in Highschool. Even if he acts more responsible than some in story adults. However even if it's a bit out of character it would be funny, for reasons.
>>
>>38923456

>Spider Island/school

Should probably keep an eye on that and whatnot.
>>
>>38927534
Once we know it's happening, it'll probably explode. The whole of the Keiko Sugimoto Fanclub possessed by one girl's obsession.
>>
>>38918110
When you have less raw power, you get more creative in it's use.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
>>
>>38921159
Well, power's never really mattered for him anyway. He's a ninja.

....Or he would be if he weren't such a gigantic ham.
>>
>>38927534
Meta. Mikage doesn''t know anything about that yet.
>>
>>38928886
and from the way things are looking, how we seem to have lost the ability to distinguish normal bad vibes from actual infection, and our kinda poor (comparatively) Perception & Insight...we might not know until it all comes down.

Considering we the players know that the spider boss wants to give us the ultimatum first...we may get a normal and uninterrupted day of school before things explode.
>>
>>38928681
Ninja Ham, the most difficult to find yet most delicious white meat.

>>38924363
Mikage has at least one college friend from the fashion circle. Flowers!
>>
>>38928886
This is what makes Eclipsed Moon tick over nicely, despite the expanded cast. It always feels like there's things going on that don't directly involve us.
>>
>>38931313
Events march on with the rest of the cast even if we aren't present.

For example, right now Ami and Aiha are likely either fighting or bonding.
>>
>>38916738
Usage: And didn't you sneak into adult movie theaters when you were fourteen? Repeatedly?
>>
>>38928681
The kind of ham that windsurfs into a scene. D20 lacks a dynamic entry special power.
>>
>>38933599
I would love to be a fly on the wall of that room.

hint hint, kitty.
>>
>>38937881
Should I read into that?
>>
>>38938184
Just want to see Aiha trying to work up the courage to talk back to her mother but failing gloriously and retreating further into her shell.
>>
>>38938258
Will she go back into her shell?
>>
>>38939234
That's what I would like to know!

Really I just want to see Aiha get bullied
so we could save her
>>
>>38939398
You want to see bullied a potentially unstable psychic who is also a magical girl?

Why not?
>>
>>38941465
Briefly imagine a series of events where to ones in charge of the blood got drunk and passed out instead of getting it setup and then everyone kept going on awkwardly having her as prom queen waiting for a prank that never happens.
>>
>>38941465
because Hell Hath Fury
>>
>>38941465
>>38943527

I'm having a bit of hard time imagining Aiha and Ami causing that much of a scene with their talk
>>
>>38943678
Yeah, I'm imagining more regretful tears and hugging over a longstanding misunderstanding of motives.
>>
>>38946433
So much misunderstood.
>>
>>38943009
Then Carrie's life takes on a Matilda-esque tone as she gains the confidence to make her own happy ending and didn't have to murder an entire graduating class.
>>
>>38947235
Indeed, so much misunderstood. So much dragged to the surface near this time of temporary departure.
>>
>>38948835
Seriously, I keep mistyping my tripcode something fierce. That didn't even remotely look right.
>>
>>38939398
Pls no bully the Aiha, or Rin will put a curse on you.

Huh, good topic of discussion. How do the daughters seem different from their mothers?

Kanari: Just as reliable and good a friend as her mom before the chip on her shoulder happened. Didn't seem to have any loneliness problems having grown up with a family & doesn't seem to have a problem being perceived as feminine.

Rin: Quiet and reserved, though her mother was a cool beauty with a short fuse...she is more calculating. There is a definite loneliness about her, even when she's around people the secrets she keeps seem to weigh upon her.

Venus: A hyper active nine year old...whose turbulent waters surprisingly run very very deep. Too early to tell if she'll develop her mother's love of love and lovely things.

Aiha: Lonely because of her power, similar to how her mother was made lonely by being smarter than most people around her. On a personality basis, she actually has more in common with her mother than any of the other scouts, save Koyomi.

Speaking of which...

Koyomi: Fighting evil by moonlight, taking love by daylight. Damn, girl is proactive.

>On a personality basis, she actually has more in common with her mother than any of the other scouts, save Koyomi.
With the big difference of Ami going out of her way to be the opposite of the pressure cooker of demanding high performance and test scores that she had growing up.. so much so that Aiha is resentful of the lack of involvement from Ami's efforts to give her daughter more freedom.
>>
>>38949753
I kinda wonder Venus' parenting situation.
>>
>>38954450
Wonder what?
>>
>>38954481
Not him, but I wonder how much of Minako's time is spent on doctor visits vs work vs her daughter's career.

It's amazing she's even able to sleep at that rate.
>>
>>38954742
Yeah, she's have to be magic to balance all of that
>>
I bet if we shut down whatever it is that's rapidly growing the flesh, the resulting horrors how would be pretty metal.
>>
>>38952493
Funny how that caused a rift, is it a commentary on not repeating the perceived failings of one's parents?
>>
>>38954481
>>38954742
I think Minako is running really hard from Venus' situation, afraid she can't keep it together. Throws herself into her work to distract herself from it while telling herself it is to fund her treatment, tutors, manager, and support Venus' career. I mean, she fully supports and understands what Venus wants to do, and loves her even more for it, but her heart is coming apart. Not certain if it is pride or fear of breaking down that keeps Minako from opening up to the other Scout. It seems she has kept them largely at arms length until recently, perhaps there are more events we are unaware of that are affecting her present behavior.
>>
>>38927457
>>38927401
Wait, was thinking of Yeon.
Though Mr. Class Rep does seem like a pretty level headed guy.
>>
>>38961386
...poor Yeon. Imagine his actual reaction to learning the young ditzy girl who is crushing on him, and eats more icecream than should be possible or sane, is also Sailor Moon.
>>
>>38960807
They grew up, drifted apart a bit even though they still had a presence in each others lives.

Minako, like Usagi, was the only one to ever really spend a lengthy period of time fighting the good fight alone. Artemis alluded to her doing such again in her adult life...and we know she had a failed marriage.

If she wasn't about to go to space, methinks there might have been plot there. She probably spent the most time away from everyone else on her rise to stardom.
>>
Entering the cast into a Hunger Games simulator was a terrible mistake. The feels are too real.

Odd naming is due to there being two name lines, and I used the second for titles, and it turned out to only describes things with those second line names. Heirs are the originals, Sailors are the new generation.
>>
>>38963300
Though it seems even the simulator ships Aiha and Rin.
>>
I am scared to read this simulation.
>>
>>38963300
>>38965274
Huh, well that was something.

Surprised that this simulator also sees Aiha and Rin adorably.
>>
>>38967795
some things are fated,
