Eclipsed Moon Quest Episode Ω͝҉͔͍̠

Interlude: Cherry Road

Its a point of stability in a maelstrom. Two frequencies synchronized but out of step, linked and halted in this instance by a connecting bridge.

The storm persisted because they were held in stasis, a reverb through the space between them and others. Its a unique phenomenon, only achievable because these two versions of this world are so similar, and their events intertwined.

Split off from one another at pivotal point and sustained across and altered timeline...its an oddity.

You don’t have the freedom to appreciate that right now. Your presence in this channel leaves you...indistinct.

Upon the axis, the bridge that binds and was extended to bring about this storm, you land. They’re here to? Was someone watching for them, did they create this storm from stasis as a means of protection?

They aren’t falling upon the storm, they stay at the edges...building in number and volume.

This isn’t how they operate on their own. For now you’ll have to watch. You’d seek the help of the force likely behind these unique circumstances...but it wouldn’t do to expose those possibly unaware of what lies beyond to it. For now, you’’ wait.

Interlude End

Quest Start

Time Stands Still.

You are Mikage Chiba, second year high school student age 15. Presently you are sitting in a booth in the Crowne Arcade being hugged by your sister. No one is moving. There are no sounds. Still, static, and frozen.

Cars are stopped outside. Pedestrians frozen in mid walk. Beside you, you don’t even think Koyomi is breathing, a tear is frozen in its fall down your face.

Sitting there for a time in confusion and shock, you realize a digital clock over the counter is stuck on the same time for at least three minutes now.

Strangely, in this mysterious wonderland of statues…you are mobile and aware. One of the necklaces hanging over your chest is warm.

Could this be the work of an enemy shadow?

Ah, this was me
>>
You try to twist and squirm out of your sister’s anaconda grip. Time itself isn’t moving, so that likely means that you can’t just bust out of her grip with raw strength, so you’ll use your superior flexibility and shimmy your way out.

You struggle to slide out of your little sister’s hug, but even after an immeasurable stretch of time you are unable to budge. The way her arms are wrapped around you, and so frozen in time, preclude you from gaining the leverage or range of motion you need to slide free. Straining against her thin fingers, you manage to pull out your shoulder.

Dear fucking god that hurts. Your grunt of pain and subsequent gasps echoes through the still arcade.

In the midst of this movement, you are clearly able to notice the warmth against your chest is the key necklace...not the locket.

Is it keeping you moving when time is frozen? Is it freezing time? Can it do that?

No one else is attacking you here...so if it is an enemy action, you aren’t being targeted.

>>
>>39178024
it seems unlikely. We were in contact with Koyomi at the time, so she'd probably have been dragged into time stop with us if it were the key.

It's probably just reacting to the time stop. I'd guess the reason why we're wandering around is probably to do with Usa's somewhat unusual status as a time-refugee version of us.

But Usa's not in this timeline atm, as far as I know. So, either she's back or... someone else?
>>
>>39179230
Usa hasn't left yet. Her boyfriend and girlfriend are bringing her home from the hospital this evening for one last family dinner together.
>>
>>39179338
I'd say phone her, but suspect the phone won't work if time is stopped.
>>
>>39179230
>>39179338
Uh oh

What if she took the time-stop hit FOR us? She's frozen, we're not.
>>
>>39179381
It seems more like this is something that could be going on regularly - we're just not normally privvy to it.
>>
Taking a deep breath, you center yourself and concentrate on the heat against your chest and the natural flow of magic within you. With a few labored breaths you are able to extend the heat on your chest into a soft aura.

It dilates around you, and spreads across the stillness of your sister. Her breathing returns and she tightens the hug around you.

>you’ve spent 5mp

“Please,” she mutters into the crook of your neck as if nothing had happened.

~Ahem,~ you cough as she seems to notice your position has shifted...and then she notices the state of the rest of the arcade.

“Uh...Koyomi-neechan,” she ventures carefully, “What’s going on?”

~Hell if I know,~ you grumble, ~Now let go of me and pull my arm,~

You walk her through popping your shoulder back into the socket and growl in annoyance at time being frozen.

“Uh...why is everything stopped, and why aren’t we?” she asks after a moment of quiet.

~Don’t know why, and I extended the aura from the key mom gave me,~ you tug on the chain and show off the key of time and space to her.

“Huh, Usa-neechan has a key like that,” she muses.

~Same key, this is the one that belongs here,~ you explain.

“Oh...so, what do we do?” she ventures and touches her finger to her lip.

The emotional outpouring from before seems to have been derailed by this strange occurrence. You think you see movement in the corner of your eye, but its just the mirror behind the snack bar. The image of you and Koyomi hugging in the booth remains frozen there along with the rest of the arcade...then what did you see move?

>Poke around the Crowne

I think the time stop is more area effect, and having the key is shielding us from it, or, more likely, allowing us action within someone else's time effect.
Difference being one of scale, in one case possibly all time is paused, in the other we're stepping in on a moment out of sync with time.

As you and Koyomi gather your bearings, a knock sounds from the door to the Crowne Arcade. Well, it looks like someone else wasn’t frozen.

Which is good, considering it could only really be Usa or Pluto, you imagine.

~Awesome,~ you sigh and look toward the door, the glass door, where no one is standing.

It reverberates with a knocking sound again. Koyomi looks to you in worry, hand edging to her broach after gulping and giving you a nod.

“Sis...what should we do?”

Two shadows lance across the street, something jumping across between buildings likely, in the shape of a person and the shape of a sphere.

Something knocks again, harder this time. Something angry.

We've still unlocked the barest of that potential. I don't think we're rivalling Moon, yet.
>>
>>39180970

Transformation is a huge boon, yes.
We took the Always On option instead, not as much raw power, but better accessibility.
>>
>>39180970
Not mom or Usa sure, but we have like 5 levels and at least a couple Mythic tiers over Koyomi. We're a lot stronger than her, period.
>>
Well, no time like the present. You stride toward the angrily struck doorway.

~If no one who works here will answer the damn thing,~ you sigh as Koyomi stifles a worried laugh.

You consider yourself...and that you don’t like the anger beyond the door. It doesn’t do to go out there unarmed or unprepared. And that goes for both of you.

~Koyomi,~ you say plainly, ~Transform, it looks like you might get your wish about fighting together side by side sooner than you thought,~

“Uh, right,” she nods and raises her hand, “Moon Prism Power, MAKE UP!”

>Sparkly Transformation Sequence.

You don the white mask after pulling it from your pocket and unfolding it. You are clad in pauldron, cape, armor and wrapped gauntlets. The black case containing your flute finds itself affixed to your belt, hanging at your side.

As she drops from the sparkling light, Sailor New Moon gasps at the sight of you.

“Mikage-neechan?” she wonders as she takes in the outline of your clad shape.

~Impressive, right?~ you smile smugly.

“I think I’ve seen that...somewhere before,” she says softly and twists her pigtails.

~Well, think later. We’ve got something ahead of us,~

Opening the door, you are momentarily amused that the image in the glass stays the same, much like the reflection on the mirror had. Beyond the door to the Arcade is a...creature.

Every angle of the fractured thing reminds you of the frayed edges of the fissure in time and space atop Tokyo Tower. It roars in strange dimensions and reverberations as its arms slam on either side of the door and it snaps in, barely missing your shoulder.

“Dead Scream,” an orb of green energy slams into its back from above and it pitches forward from the explosion, sticking itself in the door.

Sailor Pluto is here!

Sailor New Moon is primed beside you and prepares to attack.

>>

It said from above. Have we seen Pluto?
>>
>>39181678
We saw/hear her attack strike it, she might not be in melee with it yet, but she is behind it.

Blocking it here keeps it out of Melee with Moon and may allow for Pluto to keep at it from behind.

Us with shield and combat expertise will make for a good doorstop.
>>

You step in front of the creature, in a guarded stance. As long as it keeps its attention focused on you, it can’t hurt your sister.

“Right,” she nods and removes her tiara, “Stay on guard Oneechan, LUNAR LIGHT BEAM, CHARGE!”

>Look out aura activated
>Lunar Light Beam cast

The gemstone in her Tiara shines bright red as the creature snaps it jaws at you. Its translucent and fragmented maw bounces off of your protective field. It snarls and struggles in the unmoving door frame, the outline of your shield revealed in a crackle of energy.

“Dead Scream,” a dispassionate voice cries out as you see something land in the street through the creature’s inconsistent and angular mass. It struggles and is rocked by another impact.

“Lunar Light BEAM!”

Two beams lance out. One strikes the creature in the shoulder, the other misses through a gap in the door above its head.

~Fall back and take cover, sis!~ you call out and leap back behind a bank of video game consoles.

You hurl your knife in a quick jabbing motion toward it, landing right between the uneven and shifting eyes. Its body shatters like glass, pieces steaming and vanishing. Your little sister pumps her fist in victory, though her movement seems sluggish.

“All riiii-” you stand up from behind the cover you ducked behind and approach her.

Slowly her face twists in confusion and then worry. The dilated aura upon your key feels like its returning to its previous warmth.

As the creature falls apart, you see Sailor Pluto standing in the middle of the street. Beside her is a floating black sphere with cat ears, an antenna, and a smiling facsimile of Luna’s face. Complete with Moon Crest.

You think you have seen it before, in a dream. When you found Usa reliving a pleasant childhood memory by a fountain.

Pluto and the floating sphere begin to approach. A stern and serious expression are etched upon her face.

Deciding to wait, you turn from Koyomi and cross your arms at Pluto’s approach. Better have some regal bearing in all of this.

“Hooooooow arrrrre yoooooooooooou mooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnng sssssssssssssssooooooooooo faaaaaaaaast?” your little sister wonders as the key continues warming up toward its original heat.

She blinks slowly and turns toward Pluto & the sphere as they enter the arcade over the dissipation remains of the creature.

“Princess Mikage, we have urgent matters to discuss with you,” she pauses and looks at your sister, “Princess Koyomi, I did not expect to find you here active,”

Koyomi asks her, in drawn out fashion, to slow down because she cannot understand her. You share a look with the guardian of time and she sighs.

“I see you extended the key’s power to her,” she reasons, “Doing such is only a temporary measure when in an extended state of temporal stasis,”

You nod, motioning for her to continue as Koyomi slowly looks incredibly confused.

The black sphere glows, becoming a window to another image of Pluto. Identical to the woman before you, she speaks.

“At great cost, princess, we have been forced to freeze time on this earth and my own,” the pluto visible through the sphere explains.

Looking your sister dead in the eye, not that she’s noticed yet, you utilize your powers of telepathy to communicate with her at the speed of thought.

-Koyomi, I’ll tell you what’s going on after its done, for now you need to drop your transformation and try to get back to the booth before you fall back into local time,- you explain before turning back to Pluto, to miss your sister’s shock slowly etch onto her face.

~Now then. What do you need of me?~ you regard the present and projected image of Sailor Pluto.

“We need you to go to the Cherry Road and investigate whatever is on approach beyond it’s boundary,” your Setsuna Meioh explains, “Determine its intentions, and see about resolving them with whatever means you find appropriate,”

“There is little we know about this incursion,” Usa’s Pluto sighs, “Just that several things of magical potential have breached the cherry road before we were able to set up the stasis barrier...and one breach occurred after,”

She kneels down and picks up your knife, holding it out to you after closing the blade.

“You’ll need overhead clearance to activate the key’s ability to bring you to the Cherry Road,” your Pluto says, “At this point, time is of the essence,”

Reaching out, you politely take your knife of Setsuna’s outstretched hand. Testing it’s weight, you return it to your side and think.

~Is there anything else you can tell me about what to expect?~ you ask tentatively.

“Only that you should not judge based on appearances. Sometimes it is just a traveler passing through...one large enough and beyond our immediate understanding that we perceive its presence as a threat,” she explains, “Diplomacy has its place in this task...as does a strong and stern warning to dissuade hazardous creatures away,”

“There are many things, familiar and alien, beyond our corner of time and space,” the other Setsuna continues, “That there are multiple separate...entities and more amassing at the border...I can only urge caution,”

~Was this thing,~ you motion to the last vanishing vestiges of the creature you fought, ~Indicative of what to expect?~

“No...this was a side effect of freezing time on this scale,”

~Alright then,~ you step out of the Crowne passed them and into the street amid the frozen flow of traffic both pedestrian and automotive traffic, ~So, going into a place I’ve never been to face a thing I’ve never seen...do I just say Scotty Power Beam Up or?~

“Beseech Chronos, God of Time, to open the Cherry Way for you,” future Setsuan says with a soft smile.

~I don’t suppose that you’ve got anyway to fill back up my magical reserves?~ you wonder, ~I’ve burnt out a lot of energy today,~

Both of them shake their heads in negative response.

Back in the crown you see Koyomi, no longer as Sailor New Moon, floating in mid running stride toward the booth the two of you had shared. A mild panic is spread across her face.

Taking a deep breath, you hold the key aloft and call to the heavens.

~I BESEECH YOU, CHRONOS, MASTER OF ALL TIME,~ your voice echoes in the stillness of the city as the key grows warmer and shines with soft crimson light, ~OPEN THE WAY FOR ME UNTO THE CHERRY ROAD!~

Wind picks up, whipping Sailor Pluto’s hair and causing the spherical screen beside her to bounce and shudder. A vortex of pink and white light spins into existence above you, a tunnel outside of local laws of space and time. Your tightly braided pink hair lifts up, as you too are pulled against gravity to the vortex. Giving in to the force, you ride it up and into the tunnel, watching the two Setsuna as you leave them behind.

You soar through the swirling vortex, guided by some unseen force, eventually touching down on the hardened edge of the vortex. The placement allows you a far view down the distance of the...imposingly huge and long pathway. Ethereal mists drifts across the space as the surface becomes translucent.

Beyond the boundaries of the wall are glimpses of a luminescent and shifting expanse. Scintillating in color and beautiful despite a swirling maelstrom of nebulous clouds beyond...though there in the light beyond the storm are writhing clouds of dark, which remind you of what you saw beyond the fissure...the hungry things. More than that, are dotted moving humanoid silhouettes in the distance within the Cherry Road.

The surface of the vortex interior is rigid enough to provide you with traveling cover, even as it slowly shifts beneath you. With that in mind you set off down toward the silhouettes in the distance, but keeping your eyes open and upon them.

Dismissing the Raiment, you don the Regalia of Eclipse. Dark robes wrap around you and flow back into a keffiyeh and cloak. Dressed for the task, you dart down and toward the figures...when you notice it.

Something is moving among the indistinct figures. You’re familiar with the shifting light refraction left by the movement of mostly invisible creatures, yourself included. For the second time today, your eyes pick up the illusion of invisibility.

Damn you have good eyes.

Smiling, you get further down the Cherry Road while keeping a sharp eye on the invisible figure. It seems to be keeping its distance from the darkening silhouettes...and soon you have an idea why.

Though larger, and with lankier arms, they are the creatures you saw at Tokyo Tower. Glowing eyes and twitching matte black bodies scurrying about. Empty things...normally possessed of a hunger that gripped you when you supped upon their hollow void of emotions.

They drift about, searching for something. Reacting to one another as if communicating. They move with purpose leaping about on two legs or scrambling about on all fours. Antenna twitching.

They and the invisible figure have yet to notice you.

Hmm...well, it might be best to find out why this invisible thing is among the hungry creatures. And you can do so without outing your position thanks to your burgeoning telepathic powers.

You are still too far away to make telepathic contact to the invisible figure, let alone talk to them. So, you continue ducking and stealthily moving around the area. You quickly discover that gravity works here strangely, in that the entire inner surface of the vortex is a walkable surface, even as its several hundred yards wide. Luckily, the silhouettes are clustered closely together on a near enough plane.

Keeping your eyes on the invisible entity and the dark creatures is...telling.

The dark figures individually are an even challenge to you. Possessed of minor innate self enhancing magics that mimic spellcasting, are resistant to non magic weapons to a large degree, are vulnerable to light magic and magic closely tied to extreme emotion, are even more vulnerable to something you cannot clearly define, that they are possessed of a distinct hive mind and have the special power to…

They eat emotion. Not like your consumption of built up surface feelings...but deeper and in a more violating manner. They consume all emotion, down to the bone, rending the heart and soul from a body to fill their own emptiness...and this act breeds more of them from their prey. You shudder at the thought. They are creatures somewhere between undeath and life forms from higher and lower planes...souls as physical forms. And mentally...they are uniquely but infectiously pliable.

>Game terms, Undead (Augmented Outsider)

This in mind, that they outnumber your by at least a score, you turn your eyes to the invisible figure.
>>
>>39189227
Words are delicious. Especially ours.
>>
>>39189246

She is stronger than you, that much is immediately evident. She is certainly a spellcaster...but the depth of her magical potential eludes you, though it certainly lies with illusion. She is vulnerable to poisons, but extremely durable...even to magical power and weapons. She is a skilled ranged combatant and protected in melee by telekinetically controlled and bonded metal, the make of which eludes you. She exists outside of your concept of time and space, as if she shouldn’t exist, but clearly originated within a familiar concept of space time. She feels somehow...similar to you, but artificial.

Finding nearby purchase, you pulse with your mind...though still weighed down with worry.

-Uh...hi?- you venture in a moment of uncertainty, but quickly bolster your confidence and words with an expenditure of the energy of your starseed and speak again.

The figure is startled, the tone and pitch of mental gasp alerts you to her probable youth. You imagine her eyes scanning left and right about the vortex.

True to the face you wear as Eclipse, you speak in a way that would make your father proud.

-Tell me, traveller, what brings you to these worlds I would protect,- you say sternly but with polite inflection, -And what know you of these other beings? I hope they are not friends of yours,-

Her faint outline of form shimmers as she takes physical cover, still clad within the confines of her invisibility. Quietly, your thoughts are responded to along the open channel.

-What brings me is their presence,- she whisper in caution but kindness, -I’ve been tracking them...I’m worried about their buildup on your...worlds? How does that even work? Anyway...they’ve been behaving strangely. Normally they just invade en masse...but instead, they’re looking for something...or someone. So, guardian, who are you? Are you responsible to this protective time stop?-

>Write in

You suppress the urge to claim yourself as batman. You suppress it as hard as you can.

-I am not, other guardians have arranged for this defense,- you explain and peak around your hiding place to observe the now cover seeking invisible girl, -I’m here to investigate the problem and if necessary repel the incursion,-

-Then it is a relief to me that we have something in common,- she releases a breath you think she didn’t realize she was holding, -I do not wish them to overrun your world...or any others. However I need to know what they’re looking for...and maybe who they’re searching on behalf of. If you would indulge me...I could use your help,-

Her voice in thought is outwardly earnest and youthful. There is worry and hope behind her intent...and given their numbers you wouldn’t mind a stronger ally against them. However, that she hadn’t yet engaged them concerns you. Would she be willing to risk harm to your home or people just to learn a piece of tactical information.

There is also something in her that you aren’t immediately trusting of, in what you have observed of her through your supernatural assessment. In the same way that Belief in your more known aspects seem to inspire powers of shadows and of restoration...she has the power of deception. The power of lies.

Is she as young as she presents herself? Is she something to be feared over these intruders?

You don’t know...not yet, but you aren’t sure of what choices lie ahead.

Worst case I can see is that is provokes someone to try and attack us in the belief that it'll end the time stop.

On the other hand, it also makes us appear like less of an entity to be trifled with. So, only insanely overpowered entities we can't hope to effectively fight anyway will even try.

Omake

Bored.

You are so bored right now. Normally when this happens, your compact goe off and you have to rush off to deal with some minor negotiations or display of magical force. Its exhilarating, no, exciting!

This time you aren’t in any shape to deal with things. So obviously the two Puu have sent your little sister to deal with things, mother had given her the key.

Still, there is one nice thing about this. The incessant background beeps and blips of the hospital are silenced. No echoing noise, or doctors rushing, or public announcements interrupting your rest.

It is so boring. You’d take off the key if you didn’t know doing so in your state would hurt like hell. Well, you can always make the best of a bad situation. Perhaps you could explore a bit. You are certainly feeling well enough to take a brisk walk...and perhaps mess with people while time is frozen a bit.

Nothing too upheaving...just little japes you’ll be amused by later. All within reason, of course.

Hopping out of bed, and tying off your long pink hair, you stride to the door with mirthful intent behind your eyes. The sight around the corner makes these feelings drop, but inspires new ones all the same.

They stand only a few yards off, walking to your door, frozen in conversation. He has his arms spread wide in gesture as if to describe something, his face construed in confusion as though he is parseing through his words to explain something with which he is unfamiliar. She, for all her usual seriousness, is laughing with a closed hand brought up to hide her open mouth. A warmth spreads through your heart that they’re making an earnest attempt at your wishes to build friendship.

That warmth is fleeting, as your mischievous streak rises up again. Especially at the possibilities their presence can give you.

You haven’t even begun, and you are already amused. You’ll apologize to Hotaru and Helios later. They will probably forgive you, all things considered.

Not that anon, but New DC cosmology is said to have 52 stable dimensions floating around in Hypertime, with forces working to keep it at that number as the most stable configuration.

Joker is a DC character, so saying that Jokers come from outside the 52 is an interesting statement in that context.

Exactly.

Will other Earth's count for purposes of the Earth Heir perk? Also Moon and Moon Child?
>>
>>39216672
For that matter, is the Earth Heir perk working while we're on the Cherry Road?

Moon Child is only an issue of night time, Not sure about the other question.

“Anyway, western mangaka should stop trying to coopt Japanese style magical girls. Frilly dresses don’t fit the setting for space cops, and that concept was already just a bastardized Lensman anyway. And don’t get me started on this one,” she waves the unrolled comic book with a sad looking red head staring longingly at a lasagna in the hands of some kind of vampire girl on the cover “, until they vamped her out she was just a collection of tired tropes,”

“Okay, thanks for catching me up on those...books,” you roll your eyes.

With a small tinge of regret, you think back on why you asked this girl to tell you about the things she likes. The plan was to get her to talk about things she was comfortable with, and then ease into the hard stuff. Instead, you spent an hour long walk listening to why everything is a shit. This is a shit, that’s a shit, and your waifu a shit.

And, despite thinking all these domestic and foreign comic, animation, games, or dramas are shit...she has encyclopedic knowledge of them. Though she won’t stop complaining and claiming hate, she’s invested in these things to a startling degree.

She comes to a stop in front of a perfectly average home in the middle of the suburbs. Your own house is only a few blocks away. Saori Umeki fidgets for a moment, then turns to in a stammer.

“This is me, so...um...do you...doyouwannacomeinandhangout?”

“What?” you venture.

“Please, I’ve never really had a friend over...and I don’t want to face my parents about this alone,” she links her fingers and twiddles her thumbs, “I’ll be the one to talk to them...I just need someone to back me up,”

“Yeah, okay,” you offer her a warm smile, “Its not problem to help a friend with that,”

In fact, that’s exactly what you want to do. To help others who are recovering from having been forced into becoming monsters.

“Mom, Dad, I’m home!” she darts forward to the door in a smiling tizzy.

Her slouched but lanky frame moved quickly, probably thanks to a longer walking gait. Seeing moments like this make you feel good. Like you’re making a difference. Exactly the kind of thing you hoped you would do when you signed on with Mikage-chan.

“Mom?” Saori Umeko calls out again into the house, tentatively.

“Saori-chan?” an older woman’s voice sounds from down the hallway.

She peeks her head out of an open archway which you assume to be the kitchen, if her apron and the spoon in her hand are any indication. She seems confused as she looks her daughter up and down. She shares few traits with her daughter, aside from being tall and thin. Her face is certainly fuller, she has a happy demeanor, her skin is flush with color, and her eyes exhibit all the signs of being well rested.

“You were out?” she queries at her daughter.

Umeki-san, for her part, doesn’t falter. She laughs under her breath dryly for a few seconds as you come up behind her.

“Yes...I was out,” the girls slumps in defeat.

“Huh, I never even heard you leave,” the woman muses, “Will you be joining us for dinner tonight or will you take it in your roo-”

She pauses while Umeki-san slowly takes her shoes off. Grumbling all the while that no one put out slippers for her. Her mother’s sentence cuts short followed by the tall thin woman clad in apron, blouse, and capris darting out of the kitchen and grabbing her child by the shoulders.

The act has the unintended side effect of straightening Saori’s posture. Her mother stares at her wide eyed for a moment, as a sudden fear strikes her.

“I haven’t put dinner out for your in well over a week,” she whispers in dread and realized fear, “I didn’t even think to,”

Saori squirms uncomfortably under this scrutiny, looking away from her mother.

“Stuff happened,” Saori mumbles.

She stands there and gives an awkward account of her mostly unknown whereabouts. Her mother doesn’t let go of her as she explains that she got turned into a monster and how because of that people forgot about her. She rambles on about how it sucked, and she was even more pathetic because it amplified her negative traits, but it wound up being okay because her classmate Osaka-san (you) and Sailor Moon found her and saved turned her back to normal; and not the new Sailor Moon, the missing one.

“And she totally crossdresses now,” Saori finishes with a huff and rolls her eyes before pleading to her mother awkwardly, “I think she has some kinda white knight complex. Can I go to my room now, mom,”

Instead, the thin woman hugs the girl with a strength you didn’t expect.

“My baby went missing and I didn’t even remember her!” she wails and whips the girl back and forth.

“MOM!” she shrieks, “YOU’RE EMBARRASSING ME IN FRONT OF, LIKE, THE ONLY FRIEND I’VE EVER MADE!”

The woman pauses and practically drops her daughter. Her eyes finally zero in on you, standing there just in her doorway. There is a worrisome disbelief in her eyes.

“you have a friend?” she whispers first to her and then to you, “you are her friend?”

“Ah, yes. Kairi Osaka. Your daughter and I are also classmates. I have experience dealing with what she’s been through so-”

You don’t get a chance to finish your words as you find yourself crushed against apron, flesh, and bone.

“MY DAUGHTER HAS A FRIEND!” she cries tears of joy, “SHE WON’T LIVE ALL HER DAYS AS A HERMIT IN HER ROOM!”

This explains so much.

Squeemusement.
I like her mom.
>>
>>39212433
I feel like Saori and a certain frumpy alter-ego must have met before, even if we couldn't recall her at the time (darn magic).
>>
>>39217229
You've met her in passing, just another face at the comic shop who you don't normally interact with. Same goes for the vice versa on her part. Congratulations, when normal plot resumes at school, you can argue about what is a shit and what isn't.

Besides, you have a lot in common, once Mikage or Mimi gets a proper introduction.

>frilly dresses don't fit the setting for space cops, and that concept was already just a bastardization of Lensman

...LIES AND SLANDER! It is not we or our waifu who a shit, I posit that it is in fact...Saori who a shit!

Because she's too much like us. 'Us' us on 4chan, not Mikage.

>>39217187
she is adorable.
>>
>>39217172
What do you think it explains?
>>
>>39218171
That Saori a shit, but her mom is great?
>>
>>39219351
borderline hikki daughter, doting and enthusiastic mother. It was an interesting combination. Haven't worked out their family dynamic yet...and had meant her as a one off gag for the Omake.

Though, apparently you guys like moms.
>>
>>39217079
So... Saori x Kairi?
>>
>>39221018
It would be adversarial, she seems to have the power to easily insult and annoy Kairi.
>>
>>39221018
Kairi getting fit from her mom's training contrasted against a tall, lanky, skinny nerd in poor health.
>>
Umeki is going to tell the internet that we cross dress, isn't she?
>>
>>39221780
As frilly as that suit is, I don't see where she gets off claiming that unless she thinks ladies should't wear pants. In which case she is a double shit.

The only frills are the pauldron tassels. It's a masculine cut otherwise, at lease I think it is.

Well, we need someone to be a shit now that Hotaru is less of a shit.
