Let's see, news.

Not much, really. depending on how this week goes, we may do a Saturday thread, but don't count on it. We'll get one if we don't get to where I expect we should today, but we may just wait till next week and kind of extend this bit out. We'll see.

Anyway, archive here:

"So you talked to Tabby?" Slider asks, getting a kitchen knife out of the block and grabbing four plates. She pauses as she grabs them, then takes a fifth as well. "For Sammy." She says, noticing your look. "She's got, like, a sixth sense about this kinda thing."

You grin and nod, indicating to the girls they should sit down at the table, while you grab some glasses and the jug of milk that's labeled "FOR AMERICANS". For some unknown reason, the milk made here in Europe is strictly off limits, and no one has the time or the transport capacity to ship thousands of gallons of milk across the Atlantic. You've all been making due with either 'powdered dairy mix'- which is what this is- or concentrated milk that's been watered down to about the right consistency. Honestly, you prefer the powdered mix, it's not too bad, but it's certainly not milk.

You pour some of it for the girls as you answer. "Yeah, we talked to Ice." You say, indicating to the girls to try some of the stuff, see how they like it.

Seemingly detecting something amiss, they look at it, then at you, then at each other, before they both back look at their glasses. Stasya picks hers up and takes a sip- then sets it right back down. Can't win them all, you guess.

"And?" Slider asks, passing out the plates and opening up one of the two containers with Santa's cake.

You shrug. "Not much. We're going to rearrange the flights, I'll have an all-steelwing flight, Wendy and Sakamoto will move over with Rosalie and Katya."

1/3
>>
"Huh." Slider responds. "Seems like a waste. Here, hand me those plates."

You shrug, passing her the plates from in front of the girls. "Makes sense, the XFA-27s were designed to support the Wyvern." You take the first loaded plate and set it down in front of Lilya. "Besides, this doesn't really change our role with the VDNI."

She nods. "Yeah, I guess. I'm not really sold on that, but it's your ass, I guess." She says, tilting her head at the sound of feet coming down the stairs. "Wanna bet that's her?"

"Sucker bet." You respond with a laugh. "Besides, the move means that no flight is understrength, they're all putting two elements in the air."

She shrugs. "I guess. So that was it?"

You nod. "Yeah, should there have been something else?"

She shakes her head- and hands Merlin a plate as she rounds the corner. "No, just curious. You were gone a while, thought you two might have some catching up to do."

You shake your head. “Nope, just shop talk.” You say. While that's not strictly true, You don't feel like airing the conversation you had about the girls in front of them.

“What's going on?” Merlin asks, taking a seat next to Stasya, her cake in front of her, and reaching over for a glass and the 'milk'. That stuff has never seemed to bother her, which is something you envy. Stuff just isn't a good replacement- or even a reasonable one- for the real thing.

“Nothing much, Merlin.” You respond. “How about you?”

“Well, Kimiko and I were going to go to the gym in a bit.” She says, waiting patiently for you and Slider to sit down before she starts in on her cake. “I want to work on my forms a bit and she agreed to help.” She smiles. “She says I'm a natural!”

2/3
>>
You nod, smiling back. “Good! You got your own blade yet?”

She shakes her head. “Not yet. Kimiko says I'm close to earning one though, if I keep up like I have been.” She pauses. “What about you, Frank? What are you going to do today? You could always join Kimiko and I.”

You shrug- you weren't really sure. There's the rec center, of course- plenty of things to do there, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to take the girls there to socialize a bit, especially since so far, they've barely even tried to talk to anyone who isn't you or Merlin, despite that promising initial showing. There's also the hangar- even with no flights scheduled, there's sure to be work to be done down there, and an extra pair of hands won't hurt, even if the girls can't help too much. Then, of course, there's always the option of just hanging around with one of the witches all day- Slider or Wendy, maybe? Ice is probably in her office doing 'paperwork', though you can't believe she's really that far behind, and knowing Katya, she's at the rec center, monopolizing the piano.

Let's see what trouble we can get into with Slider. We should also abduct Wendy and force both her and the girls to socialize or make an attempt to be normal.

[] We figured we'd spend the day with Slider

You pull out your own seat next to Lilya, who scoots a hair closer when you sit down. “We figured we'd spend the day with Slider.” You say, accepting your own piece of the cake- and a glass of 'milk'- from Stasya. You nod and thank her- she smiles at you in response.

“Oh, you did?” Slider responds. “What happens if I'm busy today?”

“Are you?” You fire back, grinning. Merlin's digging into her own cake, while the girls seem to be regarding theirs carefully. “Go ahead, girls.” You tell them, motioning for them to eat. Stasya seems kind of hesitant to take a bite- probably because of the milk, you think.

“Not really.” Slider admits, taking a bite of her cake. “But you coulda asked.”

You nod . “Yeah, fair enough. We will next time.” You say, taking a bite yourself- it's every bit as good as you remember. By the looks on the girl's faces when they finally try it, they're suitably pleased too. You smile at them again. “Good?”

Stasya nods, but, somewhat surprisingly, it's Lilya who answers. “We've never had this before.” She says. “What is it?”

“You mean Santa's cake?” You ask. She shakes her head. “No, just... this is cake?”

“You've never had cake?” Slider asks, her voice flat. Lilya shakes her head, taking a bite and letting Stasya talk.

“Never.” Stasya says. “Our diets are very strictly controled.” Slider quirks an eyebrow, and looks at you.

“They are?” You ask. Stasya looks at you, surprised.

“We had assumed-” She shakes her head. “We're sorry papa.”

You shake your head. “It's ok, you're kind of right.” You say. “This kind of thing is a treat, not something you can have everyday. But you can eat whenever you're hungry, ok?”

She nods, though she still looks uneasy.

“What's wrong?” You ask, setting down your fork.

“We-” She hesitates, and Slider gives you a worried look. “We don't know how to make anything to eat. We were never allowed to even watch our own food be prepared.” She says.

You chuckle, and Slider gets a little laugh out of it as well. “Is that all? Don't worry about that, there's plenty of people here to teach you.” You smile at her again. “When they're done, you'll both be expert cooks!”

“Well, so long as you don't pay too much attention to Patty when she tries to teach you.” Slider says. “Girl can't cook unless it's deep fried. And even then she's iffy.”

You nod, agreeing- she'd even had problems with the EZ-bake oven she'd gotten as a Christmas gift one year.

Stasya nods, and goes back to contemplating her cake- both she and Lilya, in marked contrast to Merlin, eat it slowly, savoring every bite. Neither of them have touched the 'milk' though, which doesn't bode well, really. You'd hoped they'd at least be able to tolerate it.

Merlin, to no one's surprise, finishes first. “Are we going to have more later?” She asks, eyeing the other cake in it's plastic case.

“Later.” You affirm. She smiles happily and nods.

“Ok! I'm off to the gym, I'll see you later! Bye Stasya, Bye Lilya!” She says, skipping out of the room.

“She's in a good mood.” Slider remarks to you, as she finishes her own piece of cake and deposits her plate and glass in the sink.

“Yeah.” You say. “Has been since we got the implants.”

She nods. “Yeah.” You're not sure if she's agreeing or not. “So what did you think I was planning to do today, anyway?” She asks. “It's not like my off duty days are filled with fun and exciting shit, like Ice or Katya.”

You shrug.

[x] I'm sure we'll think of something.

“I'm sure we'll think of something.” you say, shrugging.

Slider looks suddenly... uncomfortable. “Well, I mean, if you're going to spend the day with me, there is something...” She says, trailing off.

“Oh?” You ask, surprised by the sudden shift in her tone.

She nods. “Y-yeah. It's ah- well, I mean, you and me and Ice and Katya, we need to talk. Maybe we should have Wendy take the girls for a bit, and we can go see if the boss is in her office?”

Something about this smells... off. It's Slider, you think, and she's not tried to pull a prank on you in a long, long time. Then again, you also don't remember her being quite this good an actor.

Of course, with the girls, the question is- if it involves you, it'll probably involve them, eventually, anyway.

[] Ok, we'll go find her, then I'll meet you there, that ok?
[] If it involves me, it kinda involves them anyway. What's up?

There are some similarity between the two but of everyone in our unit she has the best flight basics, and as for why not to get get Katya to teach them, would you like to hear from someone you don't like or are afraid of the that your basic are bad? If you want Katya to teach the girls you should make sure that they aren't afraid or dislike her first.

Surely you jest

In seriousness, though

ACAH has an actually well-polished PC port, but it's generally shit, so it's your call
Otherwise, your best hope is PCSX2 and the files for 4, 5, and Zero
1, 2, and 3 are passable on a PS1 emulator, but it's advised you wait for a fan team to patch 3's superior JP release to English, as the US and EU releases of 3 are pretty much shit
>>

Ace combat 3 is best story-wise too.

Joysticks have never been compatible with AC, with the exception of a special-made one that worked with 5 and another special-made one for 6
Controllers won't be much use either

[x] Ok, we'll go find her, then I'll meet you there, that ok?

You look at the girls, who look back at you, their expressions, as usual, blank and unreadable.

Looking back at Slider, you nod. “Ok.” You say. “We'll go find her, then I'll meet you there, that ok?”

She nods.

Finding Wendy, as it turns out, is something more of a challenge than you'd initially expected it to be. She's not in the house at all, and checking the gym and the hangar yields no results either. The rec center similarly proves empty, and the chow hall, predictably, doesn't have her either.

“Where did that girl get to?” You half-ask the girls, meaning it more for yourself.

Lilya, on your shoulders, shrugs- you feel her weight shift a bit with the gesture. “We don't know, papa.” She says. “We could just come with you.”

It's kind of out of character for them to not just accept whatever you tell them to do- it's really a good sign, though it could come at a better time.

[x] No, I need to see what they want, then I'll tell you. We might have just missed her, let's check around again.

You shake your head. “No, I need to see what they want, and Slider wouldn't have asked if she didn't think it wasn't important.” You say. “Sorry kiddo.”

“It's ok papa.” She says, though she does sound kind of sad. “We like Wendy. She's fun.”

You laugh. “Really? You should have met her when I did. She was pretty sad back then.”

“She's told us.” Stasya says. “She said we were very fortunate we met you over Crete, and not another pilot.”

“Another pilot couldn't have won.” You say. Stasya looks up at you, searching your face for something. Finally, she nods.

“Not another single pilot, no.” She says. “But we knew the trip was one way when we launched. Even if-” She hesitates. “Even if we had succeeded, there was no way to avoid the carrier's fighters and their witches a second time.”

“Well, let's not worry about what-ifs.” You say, reassuringly. “It never does any good, trust me.”

She nods. “We're happy that everything happened as it did.” She says. “We only wish we hadn't hurt you so badly.”

You shrug. “I think we're ok, so long as you don't go making a habit of it.” You say, smiling down at her.

She nods again, her face serious. “We won't, papa. We'll make sure no one can hurt you like that again.”

That sounds a little- well, creepy. Before you can respond, though, You see Wendy, walking along one of the sidewalks, headed towards the base exchange. “Wendy!” You call out, conversation, momentarily, forgotten. “Hey! Wendy!”

>>
She turns around, and smiles when she sees you and the girls. “Si- uh. Mister Bishop!” She says, trying to settle on a 'safe' honorific.

“Mister Bishop is my dad, Wendy.” You say. “Call me Frank.”

She nods. “What can I do for you?”

“Wanna watch Stasya and Lilya a bit?” You ask. She smiles.

“It would be my pleasure!” She says, sounding like she means it. “I was about to do a bit of shopping, if you girls should like to join me.”

You set Lilya down, having to reach across your back and help her off your shoulders and to the ground. Both of the girls weigh almost nothing- the docs put their age at somewhere between eleven and thirteen, but they seemed stunted and a bit underdeveloped for their age. When you'd been told that, you'd been pretty outraged, though now, you've come to terms with it and have been working to make it up to them.

“How long will you be out?” Wendy asks. You grin.

“Why, hot date?”

She blushes lightly. “No, not exactly.” She says. “But it's my turn to cook supper, and-”

“We'd like to learn how to cook.” Stasya says. “Will you teach us?”

Wendy recovers from her blush quickly. “I'd be delighted to!” She says, nodding. “Where will you be, si- ah. Frank? If we should need you?”

“Bosses office.” You respond. She nods.

“Ah, say no more. We should see you later then!” She says. “Come along girls, let's go shopping!”

“Wendy, what's shopping?” You hear Stasya ask as they walk off- you wonder if it's her odd sense of humor kicking up, since you took them shopping once before.

You head back through the admin building. With flights canceled, it's not that busy, though most of the offices are still staffed. Walking into the outer office of your squadron, though, it's dark, and quiet, with the lights off and no one at the desks.

The door to both Ice's office and Slider's office are closed, and you can't really tell if either is occupied- there's light coming from underneath Ice's door, but that's entirely likely that's just from the window behind her desk.

“Man, if this is a joke...” You mutter to yourself.

[x] Knock on Ice's office door anyway. Just to be sure.

You take a second to look around the darkened outer office- there's no signs of anything being amiss, no obvious tripwires or anything, everything looks to be in order, really. You nod lightly to yourself before knocking on Ice's door, kind of from the side, hopeful that if it's going to set anything off, you'll be out of the immediate blast.

Nothing happens, but you hear Ice's voice filter through it. “Come in.” She says, after a pause.

You do, noting that she, Katya, and Slider are all in here, and all of them look at you when you walk through the door- it's kind of unnerving.

Katya nods at you, while Ice and Slider don't really seem to know what to do. “Heya, boss, Katya.” You say. “Slider. What's up?”

“I believe I will attempt to be explaining.” Katya says. “Would you like a drink?”

You shake your head, and scowl at her. “Aren't we supposed to stay dry, just in case?”

She shrugs. “A little vodka will not hurt. Do you think I am such a lightweight as to need to worry?” She asks- though the last is said with a smile.

“Nah. I was worried for myself.” You say. “I know how strong Russians brew that stuff.”

She nods. “I would ask how, but it is no matter. So.” She says, taking a shot of the vodka. “You are wondering why we wanted to talk, the four of us?”

[] I had a pretty good idea, actually.

[x] I'm slightly curious, yes.

Against your better judgement, you take a seat on the futon- which is completely unoccupied. “I'm slightly curious, yes.” You admit. “I mean, I figured it'd be pretty major, since Slider asked me to come without the girls-”

Katya nods. “It is, as you say, pretty major.” She says. She pauses for a second, then, after an almost imperceptable shrug of her shoulders, she takes a breath.

“Frank Bishop, we love you.” She says.

The world kinda seems to shrink on you when she says that, the impact of the words- which you kinda expected, still hitting hard. “Glad I was sitting.” You murmur. Katya nods.

“We have struggled with this for many days.” She continues, having had time- apparently days- to work it over. “We are all as sisters, and we did not wish to let our love for one man come between us.” She says the last with a smile. “No matter how attractive he may be.”

“As- sisters?” You say, struggling to get your mind to re-engage.

She nods. “I do not have the long and solid friendship that Tabitha and Rachel have.” She says. “But since I have arrived, they have done nothing but show me kindness and camaraderie and closeness. These are things my own people often didn't do, for whatever reason.” She nods. “I have come to love them, perhaps not as I have you, but these things, they are minor differences, yes?”

You nod. You guess they are? You're really not sure.

“However, none of us wishes to give you up, either.” She says. She smiles, lightly. “Perhaps we should have been paying close attention to the Styles twins. They do not seem to mind their arrangement, and certainly Joesph does not.”

Yeah, he looks pretty happy, You think. When you actually see him, which is pretty rare these days.

“It is not unheard of for witches to do this.” Katya continues.

1/2 (i think)
>>
>>39208132
The sharkies are in fact just sharing a dick, but they are happy with that arrangement.
>>
You vaguely wonder what she means by that, though you're pretty sure you know.

“And, after discussing it, we have decided this is the only way we will ever be able to have a relationship with you that is-” She pauses, looking for the English words. “That is beyond the one we are having now.”

“A-all three. Of you.” You ask, your brain putting together the pieces rapidly.

Katya nods. “Yes. It is odd, perhaps, but it is not unheard of.” She repeats. “We have decided that we will all three share you, or none of us will. This is the way it must be.” She hesitates. “If that is how you wish it to be.”

“What about the girls?” You ask, the thought spiking through the confusion.

Katya nods. “We will all adopt them as our own, as you have. We know it may take time for them to get used to us. To me. But we will work through it.” She says.

“And legal is ok with this?”

“Witch privileges.” Ice says. “Legal code is a bit different for us.”

“Even polygamy?” You ask.

She shrugs. “Who's going to tell a witch she can't?” She asks. “Keep your witches happy, they keep your government backed. Usually.”

“We had to talk this one out a long time, Frank.” Slider says. “It wasn't easy for us to come to grips with it either, but Katya's right. We love you, you stupid asshat, too much to just give it up. But we're not going to hate each other over you either. It's fucking stupid, but there it is.” She says.

Katya nods. “We believe this will work.” She says. “But it is up to you. We will understand if this is not-” She hesitates again. “If you believe this is too odd. But we must have this decision now, Frank. We love you.”

Even if he is, he is most certainly not going to do some sort of dumb final boss action on us. NATO has put the USSR through the wringer and any attempt to take us on is going to fail spectacularly. Frankly, he's our best hope of stabilising the region post-war. Whatever excuse he has doesn't matter, he's an asset that is currently has cordial relations with NATO and is best positioned to take over after. tl;dr, he's by far the least of bad options.

>>
>>39210037

NATO has historically been their enemy, why should they believe any different now? Even if they're not willing to go to war, he certainly has reason to doubt they have Russia's best interests at heart.

Bringing the Ukraine under the sphere of NATO would be like China securing a military alliance with Canada or something. Not something the neighboring nation would be very happy about.

>in the thread the fronkbowl is decided, people are mainly arguing about real life conflicts instead of waifus
I did not expect this.

...Yes it is? It's not what they had in the Cold War, but they are actually a cut above your typical Middle Eastern raghead.

>>39210252

EU and NATO are pretty synonymous.
>>
>>39210230
Open confrontation with Russian will still costly.

And NATO can't even deal with poor afgan and iraqi peasants properly.

Poland doesn't give two shits about Ukraine, and is less than enthused about playing to the tune of it's Allies - look how well that's worked out for it in the last 400 years.

Poland wants to fuck up Russia solely on the merits of Fucking up Russia. Because they hate Russia *that damn much.*

Excalibur and Stonehenge are in europe. chandelier is in north america. All are in NATO countries.

Megalith is in Russia but under Putin's control.

There's also the Arkbird if I'm not mistaken.
>>
>>39210290

Yes, which is why they're picking a fight with Russia right no-

Oh wait.
>>
>>39210276
>...Yes it is?
It really isn't. It's an internal mess, it's organization and training is in the shitter, and they can't even maintain most of the stuff they have, let alone get enough modern stuff working to make an impact.

>EU and NATO are pretty synonymous.
This statement just shows how little you understand what you're on about.
>>
>>39210298
Heh, maybe the Russian invasion of Europe was not only to weaken the world, but also a power play for the defence sites.

Then again Ghost hasn't dwelt on that aspect so I'm grasping at straws here.

>And NATO can't even deal with poor afgan and iraqi peasants properly.
Still handling it better than the Soviets did.

>And NATO can't even deal with poor afgan and iraqi peasants properly.

Which is a completely different kind of conflict to a conventional war against a state. Insurgents are hard; Smashing Russia's paper military in is comparatively easy.

Remember, the conventional conflicts in Trashcanistan and Iraqu were enormous Steamrolls.

Okay, we'll do it your way then. Do educate me with your sources on how Russia has no military to speak of.

And while your at it, do educate why the political and economic alliance that is the EU would not be closely affiliated with NATO.

>>39210345
NATO has more money to throw at problems. Also, NCOs.
>>
>>39210335
Yeah, but use of those sites in the war would be to attack the WHOLE UN and say "hey, all deals and bets are off", and then anyone with nukes will start dropping them.
>>
>>39210371
Because slav can't into guerilla and partisan warfare.
...oh wait.
>>
>>39210410
Why on earth would NATO be stupid enough to stick around and try to reconstruct Russia like they did the Mideast?
>>
>>39210335

Man, even if the Russians somehow did win, they didn't have a hope of reaching and securing Chandelier or Arkbird. There is no benefit to bringing the WMDs into this.
>>
>>39210404
Probably not to use, but to put Soviet troops in good position in case something happened. It was hinted months (years?) ago by our friend Putin that robo-Stalin was being influenced somehow by the xenos.
