Episode 23:

When last we left off, Makoto Kinushima decided to apply herself in the bakery at Charmant, and whether it was through sheer luck or some unknown knowledge of the intricacies of baking, we developed a new pastry to sell - sweet potato and chocolate Scottish pasties!

The fun came to a halt, however, as Micchy called us up to start the Helheim Forest Race after work. All the Armored Riders (sans Ryoji, of course) were to meet up in a central place, head into the Forest, and retrieve as many Lockseeds as possible before returning. A great idea for non-combat based competition, were it not for the sudden inclusion of Oren Pierre Alfonzo's dramatic entrance... plus the hundred or so Shibata Clan goons he may or may not have dragged along with him, after his bid to try to eradicate Koei Shibata.

In a flash of genius, you start the race, and everyone - including the Kurokage Trooper goons, and the lieutenant that helps lead them - gets into the Forest. However, you came across an actual Cathedral in the forest, overgrown and filled with tombstones. Shortly afterwards, she started to hear voices in her head...

<<HAVE YOU COME TO SEEK THE FRUIT>>
<<HAVE YOU COME TO FREE THE SOULS>>
<<HAVE YOU COME TO SEEK SALVATION>>
<<MAKOTO KINUSHIMA>>

The slash across a Kurokage's chestplate goes through with no hitch or resistance, sending hiim flying back into a granite tombstone. A satisfying crumbling sound, and you're sure he's out for the count. No man could live through that kind of thing without some rest.

However, there's still a bunch of the black-suited, spear-wielding enemies surrounding you. Most of them haven't held more than a stick of rebar or a baseball bat as an actual weapon, so it's kind of darkly humorous to see all these people try to appear threatening. They may stand taller than you, have more muscle mass and maybe even some actual training - but none of them have gotten the expertise of what their suits can do.

However, those voices that you heard in your head shook you. You're not sure exactly what it was about them, but they... scared you for a moment. Aside from the Jade Dragon, you've heard nothing like that before. Powerful, choral, dignified, and overall just... making you feel like an ant before their power. You're not sure if the others heard it - if they did, they made no show of making it known.

You feel a pulse of energy from inside the Cathedral once more.
The Dragon hungers.

Whatever that pulsing sensation was, it could wait. Right now, you still had shovelheads that could, if you weren't careful, rub enough remaining brain cells together and formulate an actual plan to take you down.

And besides, you've been itching for a fight for a while.

You hop from foot to foot, breaking your stance and loosening up. "Y'all seriously made an error in thinking that y'all could take me, ya know," you taunt. stancing up once more. "I gladly welcome an attempt, but it's your funeral."

>20: critical success

Saber and claw in hand, and determination set in heart, you start getting to work. Dodging swung spears is as easy for you as dancing, right now. The speed and fluidity of your moves is unparalleled, it feels like.

Once you see their chests heave with the effort, starting to slow down with their swings, you then start your own attack. Cleaving and slashing, clawing and punching through the crowd. Sparks fly everywhere as metal damages metal, and vicious kiais sound off.

About a dozen of them fall like dead trees, their Drivers shattering and breaking on the way down to leave them in their civilian forms once more. They look bruised and beaten, but at least none of them are dead that youu know of. Poor bastards, not having the common sense to not go up against that that they couldn't even dream of handling.

You turn your glare to the remaining half dozen or so, starting to advance on them with killing intent. Their fearful steps back, their shaky grip on their spears that try to point forward in defense.

You could eliminate them right now. Rid the city of a few more small time criminals, maybe. None would be the wiser, and besides, they attacked you first. Not that many would give a shit.

<<And it wouldn't hurt to see what they taste like,>> you reckon. Your vision narrows, and you can feel your throat go dry and hot.

>Resist the urge. These are still men. Eliminate, but don't kill.

You grip your swords tighter and squeeze your eyes shut, doing your best to bulldoze the thought that flitted through your head. You're better than that. You're smarter than that, and you're more... human, than that.

You'd rather not have a repeat of what happened at the mall once again. Or worse, an actual murder case on your hands.

Once you open your eyes again, you refocus and calm your breathing. You don't need to act like a wild animal out of desperation anymore for this fight. Those men probably won't put up much more resistance now that half of their brethren have fallen.

"Y'know," you state, head raised and looking directly at them. "Y'all's drivers are kind of important, yeah? Being in the Forest without one is about approximate to a death wish - without them, you're susceptible to the Helheim Infection. Friend had it once, got laid up and in a coma for days, if not weeks."

With a gesture to the shovelheads that fell, you continue.

"Do you want to end up like they could? Or do you want to at least live another day or two?"

You advance forward, not losing the grip on your saber by an inch, as you continue. You can almost feel the FEAR radiating off of these men as you step, in an ironic situation - one young woman being able to strike mortal, cold anxiety into the hearts of big, tough, burly bullheaded men.

"I mean, I know you've got the tough guy act to keep up, and bosses to impress or whatever. But is this really worth your life? Besides, judging by your buddies, you're not gonna have much of a chance against me. And I hope you're smart enough to realize this on your own, but just in case: open wounds speed the infection along. Think about that before you attack me again. Without armor to block the my blades. Just saying."

You take one final step towards the men, and stop.

"Either you leave me and the rest of my friends alone to do our work, or you relinquish your drivers, and quite possibly your lives. Maybe even with force. Wanna try this?"

BEAST GATE 5: CLOSED.
BEAST GATE 4: OPEN.

Quite a few of the Kurokages turn tail and flee like dogs, right up the hill and out the Crack. It's cathartic to hear them screaming and running away, and you can't help but let out the tension in a laugh - from the stomach, a genuine well-hearted laugh.

However, it's cut short by one more Kurokage that stands there. You can't tell his emotion under the helmet - it's unreadable, after all - but he begins to talk.

"HOw... how did you do all that?" he quietly asks. Under the masks, he sounds no older than 20. Much lighter of frame than the rest of the punks that worked with him, but nowhere near placable voice-wise. "Are you a Dragon?"

You slide the Saber back onto the holder on your belt, and regard the man. He's still holding his spear, still pointed at you, but the fact he didn't run after pissing his pants, and instead chose to ask questions, warrants interest and involvement.

"No, I'm not personally a dragon. If you're talking about my Lockseed, then no shit I am. Otherwise, just picked up a few things from them, fought a couple. Since you didn't turn tail like your friends, I imagine you've got a different topic in mind. Explain."

Your anger and passive power still manages to leak through your speech, and you can see the Kurokage almost flinch as he listens. He lowers the spear, but still keeps his hands wrapped around its shaft as desperately as any. The spear shakes in his hands, though.

"I. I don't want to do this. I'm only doing this just to get money for my ma, but I don't want to keep doing this kind of shit anymore. I don't want to run to a guaranteed defeat and asskicking and keep earning nothing anymore." he cries.

And in a defiant, almost tantrum-like movement, throws down his spear onto the ground. It clatters against the rocks, resting after a moment.

"How do you do this? How are you able to live so freely? The Shibata kidnapped you, and you escaped. Now when they cornered you, you fight like a wild beast, and you even manage to not kill any of them. You have to be some kind of professional. Do you get paid to do this? Is there a way to join up or something? If I join up, can I get those kinds of weapons?"

It's only hitting you now that this man... no, this kid. This kid hadn't known what his place was among the Shibata. Certainly didn't act like any normal Yakuza that you saw or interacted with, and certainly didn't claim some kind of fanatic affection to the idea of being a yakuza.

You try relaxing. Try evening out your tone. At the very least, his questions could do with some answers.

"I'm an Armored Rider," you say, crossing your arms over your chest. "I don't get paid to do this, and normally I don't actually have to fight conscious, real human beings. Most of what I fight are interdimensional monsters that seek to eat and become stronger, I think. But I guess I'm some sort of pro at this? Been doing it for a while, now."

"...then why do you fight?" he asks, quietly. "Most people wouldn't go this far to do this. You fight humans and those monsters with the same ferocity. Why do you fight?"

"Why do I fight? Seems like a simple answer, honestly." you respond.

"Because there are monsters from another dimension invading our city. Who knows how long it'll be until they start expanding? Until the whole world looks like this forest? This place is full of ruins, remnants of some alien civilization that was destroyed by the Inves and the ecosystem they spread. We have to fight. I fight the Inves to stop their advance. We have more important things to do.

"And further... I'm one of the few people who can fight to protect everyone. Even you guys - the yakuza in Zawame, I mean. If it weren't for the work I do, the entire city would pretty much turn into what you see here." To add emphasis, you gesture to the ivy-ridden cathedral next to you, choked and wound up with growth.

"Do you want your city, and the people that live there, to be taken over by this bullshit?" you ask. He shakes his head to the negative, and you nod. "Then we're always looking for one more. At least one more that's willing to take a stand to fight and eradicate this forest from our town, and maybe even Earth at large."

You offer a hand.

"I'm Makoto. Who are you?"

The other man slowly walks forward, picking his spear up from the moss, and takes your hand in his for shaking.

"Yue."

"Look, Yue, You better get out of here... Consider this a moment of deep reflection, an opportunity to change your life for the better... I mean, one wrong move and you'll be infected and that's never a good thing."

Yue nods, taking your words into consideration. You look towards the Cathedral once more, and feel it pulse again. If Yue felt it, he made no sign to acknowledge it.

"I can't promise you anything really, but if you're not wanting to work for the Yakuza anymore, it might be a good idea to get in contact with Yggdrasil Corporation. They hold a lot of power in Zawame, and could probably help you get out of the mob. Call Erina, she'll know what to do. For now, though, it's best you take off and make yourself known as little as possible for a while, until this whole thing blows over, okay?"

Yue nods, and starts heading towards the Crack up the hill as well. You notice that the way he walks is strange for some reason - as if he's trying to compensate for something - but brush it off, focusing more on the Cathedral ahead. You climb in through a window and start looking around.

The Cathedral is large, cavernous, and quite frankly intimidating. Ceilings soar high, with the Helheim Ivy following it up almost directly to the top. The typical flora grows in between stone benches and pews lining the center of it, but no trees or any large flora can be found inside.

The pulse sounds once more.

>Inspect the Cathedral for hidden rooms.

Finding no sign of any obvious glowing points, or strange luminous objects, you start to look around the massive central room in the hopes of finding more information about this Cathedral. Perhaps there's hidden rooms or paintings or whatnot, that could clue you into where this place was from.

The Cathedral, in a way, resembled those that you had seen on prior trips to Europe in the older parts of town. Towering, made of solid smooth stone and iron that's long rusted to a dark brown color. Whatever time it had been here, was far enough for such an effect to take place. It differed from other cathedrals was the depictions on the walls, glass and ceiling, though. No crosses like you would see in a Christian church, nor any other symbols that you even remotely recognize. In fact, it looks devoid of most anything that looks like any organized religion from Earth. However, there's a symbol around where the altar is that catches you off guard -

Six hexagons, surrounding what appeared to be some kind of pearlescent black sphere, set into the wall. Each hexagon was colored differently - green, blue, yellow, red, purple, and orange. Primaries and secondary colors. It certainly looked interesting, if a bit unconventional--

And then the pulse hits you.
More than any other pulse that you had felt before, this one seems to weigh heavily somehow. Your ears ring with reverberation, your body feels somewhat heavy and hard to move in. The voices start once more:

<<HAVE YOU COME TO SEEK THE FRUIT>>
<<HAVE YOU COME TO FREE THE SOULS>>
<<HAVE YOU COME TO SEEK SALVATION>>
<<MAKOTO KINUSHIMA>>
<<HAVE YOU COME TO KILL US ALL>>

Once your eyes fall upon the sphere, waves of white light seem to pour and fall upon the sphere's surface, almost making it look alive. You abandon your search and immediaetly stand before the sphere, transfixed by the movement upon the sphere.

"What the hell are you talking about? What fruit?" you try to call, but to no response. At least audibly... but the sphere and the waves of light on its surface turn brighter.

<<WHY HAVE YOU COME THEN>> the five voices echo once more.

You try to speak, however... but the words that come from your mouth do not quite sound like your own. Another voice, male, deep... matching the Dragon's spills out, as you respond.

"<<I have come because you called to me. Why have you done so?>>" your voice echoes. Before you cover your mouth out of alarm.

<<WE HAVE CALLED BECAUSE WE ARE CLOSE TO DEATH>> the voices chorus. <<HAVE YOU FOUND THE FRUIT>>

"<<No, the Anchor has no knowledge of the Fruit. We have been preoccupied with other matters.>>"

You mentally force the Dragon down from your throat, and stare the sphere straight in the eyes once more. The Dragon scrambles to try to retake you, but you push it down as much as you can before responding.

"Hold on a second, what are you talking about? Dragon's not been particularly focused, so I'm a bit lost here. There's a fruit that's important but what is it? And for that matter, who are you?"

There is a silence from the voices, but you can hear what you assume is murmuring from their end. Finally, you hear another - in real life - voice, from the entrance of the cathedral.

"They are the Six. Beings from a time immemorial. They are both danger, and necessity, for your goal. Treat them with respect, but know that they are... unique.."

The woman with the blonde hair is behind you. Once more. A sharp, worried look directed at you, and past you towards the Sphere. The same woman who appeared to you in the FPZ the very first time you donned the armor.

Mai.

Definitely a connection there, but they're also not as united as the name implies. The fact that Dragon hasn't brought up that he's part of a group until now raises a few alarm bells, personally. Also:

One of them being Hase, Doing the SOUTHER Pose

Another one is Makoto with a Kamen Rider Metabee

>One of them being Hase, Doing the SOUTHER Pose
This. So much this.

What do you think of a drawing of Puchi-Makoto with the Dragon on her head, munching on a Delicious Sweet Potato 'n Chocolate cookie?
>>
>>39225565
Maybe something like all the characters so far just chilling at Charmant. With that Bat Inves standing guard outside.
>>
>>39225880
I also have a idea of Makoto doing a mad scientist cackle in the kitchen making said cookies going.

"YES, YES! NOW I'LL TAKE OVER ZE WORLD WITH COOKIES MWAHAAHAH!"

>>39225887
Make it Avengers style and You got my vote good sir.
>>
>>39225880
Also Hase doing the PRAISE THE SUN pose.
>>
>>39225887
Bonus points if it has Makoto excitedly showing Oren her new recipe while Erina look on proudly at her daughter making friends.
>>
>>39226079
Speaking of Best Mom, I kinda want to see fan art of Erina having an Ara-Ara Snake Stand or her dressed up as Either Nero or Dante doing some CURAYZEEE SHEIT.
>>
>>39226118
Erina did a Buster, so she should be Nero/Vergil.
Makoto doesn't have a Huge Sword, so she can't pull off a good Dante impression yet, but she DOES have the skills for a Beowulf/Gilgamesh style.
What weapons does Makoto have again? Claws, Axe and Shuriken, plus whatever Watermelon gives her, right?
It'd be easier to pull of Curahzee combos if she could switch Lockseeds quickly.
>>
>>39226532
Oh sweet jeeesus, Makoto with Beowulf.
>>
>>39226549
Ifrit, from the first game, fits better, what with being the Fire-elemental gauntlet.

Makoto's version of the Overcharge Mode Erina used a couple threads back should b
have a mix of Ifrit and Beowulf replacing the normal claws.

And considering her color scheme, she could get a upgrade with a big sword and a red longcoat. Call it Dragonslayer mode, for extra simbolism.
>>
>>39226669
Dude I was pitching Makoto's Kachidoki Arms being influenced by Sol-Badguy from Guilty Gear.
>>
>>39226726
Shit, I can't believe I forgot that!
And I still think that's an awesome idea, fitting, even, considering Sol'sy ideaSol's sword.

Though my idea was more along the lines of Dante, complete with a Million Stabs => Stinger combo for one of Specials. Because Stinger is hands down the best attack in DMC, and in Dragon's Dogma too.
>>
>>39226838
How bout Million Stabs > Prop/Shredder>Stinger or Kick-13 fINISH
>>
>>39226878
Also Good.
I wanted to cram Dance Macabre in there somewhere, because that move manages to combine every good attack from Rebellion into a single, awesome combo, but considering that move can only be used to end combos it gets a bit more difficult...

Maybe Beast Uppercut > Prop/Shredder > Dance Macabre?

Brb, gonna try that on Bloody Palace.
>>
>>39227044
Is it me or do I see Makoto getting some sort of moveset that's a wee bit inspired by Terry Bogard and or Rock Howard.

>>
>>39227100
I could see it.
Then again, calling it a moveset is misleading, since they AREN'T set in stone. This is a mostly narrative quest, afterall, and any moves we discuss here are at best inspiration for Sagara.

But back to Makoto's fighting style, we do know she mostly fights using a combination of Karate and Street Brawling. She most likely knows a bit of boxing as well, since the basics are simple and serve as a good foundation to anyone who wants to learn how to fight.

We still need to talk with that Martial Artist dude who offered to teach us.
>>
>>39227485
Terry's Fighting style is basically Streetbrawling blended with other fighting styles combined with a Chi style which I forget the name of at the moment.

But anyways yeah, we need to get in touch with said martial arts dude, Or Or we learn some CQC From our dear Oren. Since he was in the Foreign Legion and those guys don't fuck around.
>>
I heard POWA GAISAs and came running from work.

So y'all want to see a Kachidoki that has elements of Dante, Terry Bogart, Sol Badguy, and such? I'll see if I can get in touch with Ramen or Skaphel and work on a thing.

Though the main draw at that point would be a massive sword-gun thing that could easily just resemble the DJ-Ju.

Give me a few minutes to eat dinner and get back in the writing mode, and we'll get back on track. Until then, of course, OOC time is still on.

...although now that I think about it, I think I might have an idea for the weapon.

That reminds me: There's an Overlord for each of the main Riders. Rosyu for Takatora, Lapis (movie-exclusive, but he's canon) for Kouta, Demushu for Kaito and Redyue for Micchy. Is there going to be one for Mako, or does the Dragon fill the conceptual space that the Overlord counterpart would? Should be interesting to find out.

Idea, after playing Bloodborne:

Ludvig's Holy Blade's a nifty thing, where in its one-handed mode it's just a neat longsword. However, shove it into its scabbard and it becomes a big fuckoff wide-bladed claymore.

Maybe mixing the MusouSaber and the Enryu DJ Kiba into something like that, with there being a more rifle-like mode for the combined form. I keep seeing guns from Destiny and the like as good basis, along with the Junkyard Dog, the Red Queen and Blue Rose, and so on.

The Enryu DJ Kiba's not a bad name, either.
So is Dragonslayer Arms.

Hmmm...

Y'all can still talk OOC by the way, just don't want to keep y'all hanging for too long.

"...Mai?" you ask, turning around and staring at the woman. There's a flicker of recognition, of acceptance, that crosses her face - only to be shuffled away as she recomposes herself.

"I ask you, Makoto Kinushima, the Dragonblooded Slayer," she resumes, "to watch your next steps. The next arc of your journey is about to begin... think carefully."

That strange, VCR-skipping effect once more as everything freezes, and she seems to fade and glitch out of reality. Leaving an empty doorframe, and you in the same room as the strange reverberating Sphere set into the back wall. The sphere remains silent, but the Dragon's now pacing in your mind.

<<Hey, uh, Dragon?>> you think.
<<YES, HUMAN?>>
<< What the absolute fuck is going on here. Was anyone going to tell me that I was being coopted for a hunt for some Fruit bullshit? What the hell. Explain.>>

The dragon sighs. He is about to speak, before you unwillingly feel some kind of restraint get summoned onto him. Chains of light, thick and sharp, bind him down to the ground. A protesting roar, but the voices from the Sphere resume once more.

"Okay, so I know about Inves, the Helheim Fruit being Lockseeds, and that's about it. Is there some other kind of Fruit that you're looking for that you need? I mean, we've got plenty of varieties of fruit on earth, some of which--"

<<~We appreciate your humor, Anchor~>> one of them, a juvenile-sounding androgynous voice (think Eros, the voice in the Confession, from Catherine) exclaims. <<~But if it were that easy, our task would be done in less than a blink of an eye. No, what we seek is a very special fruit. It's... let's just say it's essential.~>>

"For your survival?"

<<~Yes, indeed. With this fruit, we can continue to live on. And I can assure you, it would be in your best interests for us to live on, human.~>>

"Oookay.... so then what's an Anchor, and why do you keep referring to me as such? I do have a name, that you know of." You cross your arms and stare intently at the sphere.

A second voice, motherly and rather cold (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn), rings out. Her voice is clear and sharp, but has a lot of older tones.

<<#Thy moniker of Anchor comes from the necessity of your position. Without thy ability to Anchor Jormungandr to thy plane of reality, he would not have the ability to pursue the hunt for the Fruit. Likewise with our Anchors. Trust us, without thy Anchorage, thy entire plane would be doomed.#>>

YOu recall Ryoji talking about some kind of bird, something similar to the Dragon - was its name Jormungandr, really?

"And one of you is some sort of bird thing, yes? Big ass golden bird thing?"

<<#Yes, that would be RA. An eccentric sort, but still an effective member.#>>

You get a strange antsy feeling, as the inquiry draws to a close. The waves of light upon the sphere's face seem to be calming down... but while you have the chance, you fire off one last question.

"Do you have anything for me to go off of, then? Anything at all? I can't really help if--"

All at once, the voices cry--

<<BEWARE THE SHIELD OF GREEN. HIS INTENTIONS ARE NOBLE, BUT HIS CONSEQUENCES ARE DISASTROUS.>>

And then they fall completely silent. The sphere dims, the waves calming down to a placid appearance on the surface.

You get a shiver, though, as you feel all too familiar eyes upon your back.

Turning around, wouldn't you know it, the spirits' warning was pretty apt. The Green Rider appears once more, having walked into the entryway while you were not paying attention. Saber and shield at the ready, staring through his visor directly at you. You're not sure he was there for the entire thing of staring at the Sphere and talking to spirits, but

"I've given all the warnings I can to you, young woman," he says, voice modulated somewhat by the visor. "You're leaving me very little choice here but to evict you by force."

I can give you a quick rundown of the currently available Lockseeds, but as usual, the sky's the limit. If you think Makoto can do it, then you can try to roll for it - hence why the write in option is there

>Dragonfruit
All arounder lockseed. Grants DragoClaw. Based around ferocity, grappling and fire-based attacks.
>Apple
Heavy hitter. Grants RingBreaker Axe. Based around massive hits, wide range and taking hits. CLEAVE AND SMITE.
>Starfruit/Carambola
Fast attacker. Grants StarShuriken. Focuses on replication, mob fights, and speed.
>Suika/Watermelon
Hasn't been used yet.

>20 cancels the 1
>17 - pass

You instinctively put the DragonClaw up against the incoming Melon shield of the Green Rider, blocking most of the force even as you slide backwards a bit with the inertia. However, you do manage to lock him up enough - and surprise him enough - to get a real solid punch across his face, knocking him back a foot or two. Certainly doesn't look like he expected it, you think.

"The audacity...!" he begins to say, only to put up his shield (some sound advice, really, that more people should take) as you try to swing a few more times. They glance off, unfortunately, but the point has been made.

"Don't fuck with me, man. Don't even think about it."

Ok then, let's try the unorthodox. Since he's putting his shield up let's go down below. Dragon-fruit Au Lait into a Sliding Takedown Tackle like Scoprion's from MK-9/X.

I've always been one to go full-blast before the enemy can get their footing. Now would be the perfect time for it.

That said, I won't make everyone do what I think is right just because I think it's right. You guys choose what you want to choose.
>>
>>39230522
>>39230535

This may or may not be why I want to go to watermelon so soon.
>>
>>39230542
But that'll be showing off our entire hand too soon. We don't know what else Slaughtermelon can do much less if he has other lockseeds.

Speaking of, if we do win this fight. I vouch we wreck his belt. and throw him out of a crack.
>>
>>39230576
For a second, I thought you said 'throw him down a crack', implying that you wanted to throw him down a crevice.

That would be 200% too much metal.
>>
>>39230589
I simply want to remove Zangetsu from the game for a period of time. Not pull a fucking Hehiachi Mishima!

Oh, forgot to mention:

>Style meter: 25%
>Squash takes 25% meter.
>Au Lait takes 25% meter.
>SParking takes 50%

So think of Squash and Au Lait as EX moves, and Sparking as your super. No IK moves.

You gain Meter via successful Attacks and other Stylish moves. If not successful, you'll gain less Meter but still gain some.

Let's try this out and see how this goes.

This is why you don't throw people down or out of anything. They'll only get mad, and they'll only come back with a vengeance.

Instead, you have to lock them out of rooms. It's still as insulting, but less painful for both parties involved.

Charged-up attack, think Power Strike or something along those lines. usually good enough to finish off mobs or the like.

Modifier, changes a pre-existing attack with an element or the like.
>SPARKING
A super version of a charged attack.

Let's say I want to divekick someone.

Squash allows for a more powerful divekick.
Au Lait allows for a fiery dive kick.
Sparking is a fiery, super powerful divekick.

You draw yourself up once more, stancing up as best as you can for the split second you have. The Rider slashes at you, but you duck underneath it, crouching low. You hit the lever on the Driver twice.

>DRAGON AU LAIT!

And you push off with your back foot, skating on your knee a bit before slamming your body mass into the man's stomach. The force is nearly explosive to him, as he's knocked back quite a few steps.

He holds his stomach with his unshielded arm, looking down and marveling at how much power you're wielding.

"You're really not playing around anymore, are you?" he asks quietly, gripping the saber more.

"NEver have been, never will. Now are we going to take care of this shit or not?" you reply, hopping once more.

>1 vs. 1 - EVERYONE EATS SHIT

You start swiping and slashing at the Rider with fervor, pushing the advantage that you've got. The Rider backs up, skittering with each step, fighting the best that he can - but his shield doesn't seem to do much more than block it.

However, when you go for a sick backflip kick right as he's at the doorway... you slip on a half-eaten Helheim Fruit that seems to have been right next to your foot the entire time. Instead of gracefully or powerfully delivering your boot to the man's chin, you instead just go head over heels - and not in the good way.

The good news about this, though, is that the fleshy peel of the Helheim fruit zooms at the speed of sound right towards the man's visor. It hits him square in the face, knocking HIM on his ass...

And together, the two of you lay there on the floor, only a few feet away from each other. Your hands go to your face and you let out a low groan, and the Rider just sighs.

"How fucking embarassing..." you mutter.

"I cannot believe I've been so embarassed in a fight before..." the man replies. "Was that planned?"

"No, not at all! I was trying to kick you in the chin and then it all went to hell."

"Damn it all..."

>Sit there on the floor for a moment to recomposure.

You roll over a bit and eye him. He's sitting up, but hasn't made any move to try to take you out. If nothing else, at the very least, exhibition of honor on his end could keep you from getting your ass kicked for a little while longer.

"So what's your game, then? What's going on enough that you have to keep me and my friends out? Are you related to this place or something?"

The man considers the options, but shakes his head.

"I'll tell you what," he sighs as he stands up and brushes himself off. "You manage to defeat me, and I'll tell you. If not, so help me god if I catch you here once more, I will not hesitate to actually try to kill you."

"...now that's a challenge I can take."

Thank you everyone for participating, I'm really glad we got to make so much progress! OOC TIME IS GO

I'll still stick around, as I'm trying to work through in my head how I want the Enryu DJ Kiba to look and I've got a decent idea of it, but it needs some refinement. Anyone want to help, or is it too late to work on it?
>>

Also, I would help with Enryu DJ Kiba, if I knew what it was.

I'm game to stay up for a while longer. What are you thinking for its look?

Oh, and of course, thanks for running.
>>
>>39231688
Currently the basis for the Enryu DJ Kiba is >>39227756 well one of the basis's anyway.
>>
>>39231760
Are we set on using the "combine with Musou Saber" thing like the DJ Hou does? Because I think a sword without the gun-crossguard would work better for this scabbard.
>>
>>39231734
The Enryu is a tentative name for the Kachidoki weapon for Makoto, and we've apparently agreed that there needs to be a few inspirations to it - the main one being Fireseal and Junkyard Dog. I Like the concept of the rifle splitting open to reveal the sword, OUR the sword being the rifle itself somehow l.

Just need to draw it tomorrow
>>
>>39231850
We don't have to use the Saber, it could come with ITS own sword to insert
>>
>>39231851
I wish you the best of luck, man. I have no artistic talent whatsoever, but I'd add something like the Flying V, from Viewtiful Joe, or the Ehru that Sona carries. Give it some flair.

How about making it like a butterfly knife/balisong? Something like the Damascus Blade from Battle Angel Alita. Normally it's a bullpup rifle, but if you flip the stock and barrel open it unfolds into a long-handled sword. Like pick related, if it had a gun merged with it. Would that work?
>>
>>39231865
Oooh Hence the Kiba of the Enryu-Kiba.

It can open up to reveal the DJ-Style Turntable as well as lockseed Port.

>Low Tempo: Shotgun/Mangum

Hell I'm slowly picturing up Finishers for each lockseed.
>>

Dragonfruit should be Sam's schtick from Metal Gear Rising, firing the blade out of the scabbard for charged fiery slashes. That would be cool.
>>
>>39231903
I'll take it into consideration, because the bullpup rifle is useful as a design (was procuring the Deus Ex assault rifles and their compact design as well)

If anyone wants to draw up ideas out get people to draw them for you, or discuss further, go right ahead. In the meantime, I've got some drawing to do.
