Recently: You are not a princess. You defeated Hornbeams hastily assembled attack on Lace Point. You've become aware of his plans, and decided he can wait. You've challenged prince Arledge to a battle on board a ferry.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes or always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just a 1d100. Sometimes you can get a modifier to make a move more/less accurate, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever!

Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

“Just you and me, unless you’re not up for another beating so quickly.”

The young prince smirks. “Don’t get too cocky. This is going to be different from the gym. No targeting yourself for attacks.”

You roll your shoulder. It’s still pretty sore from when you had Trunks use Phantom Force on yourself. That really hurt. At least that means Trunks is really strong.

You, Robin, and Arledge head over to the much more open deck. The camera crew catches you on the way and follows.

Mr. Kroustou waves over to you as the camera is set up. “Good news, Kat. We’ll be airing the first episode in a few hours. I know that’s pretty quick, but once we sent the footage over they insisted. You’re going to be a star, dear. And I’m going to be the avant-garde director that made you one.” He seems a lot more excited about that last part.

Arledge demands your attention again. “So, two Pokemon each??”

“Two is fine,” you tell him.
“Great” He reaches for a pokeball at his side. “Now, I guess this counts as a bet between trainers. That means a bet. I usually don’t bet much, but I don’t want to insult you either. You seem pretty well off, with your own show and all that.”

“I get by,” you’re waiting to see where he’s going with this.

He chuckles. “I just mean to say I can go as high or as low as you want. Unless you have a better idea, I’m perfectly happy doing the default bet.”

That’s right. You almost always go for a set amount, but you remember that if there’s no agreed upon bet, it’s half the money that the trainer is carrying. Sometimes that’s a little one-sided, but it’s in place to make sure people think before battling.

You’re pretty loaded, but as a prince he probably is too.

The problem isn't just the money, but we are after experimental, cutting edge tech that isn't actually available for purchase yet... part of our contract is specifically to get access to that eye...

Arledge juggles a Pokeball. “You’re aware I came out here looking for trouble, are you not? I’m completely prepared to battle.”

You offer a bet equal to an eighth of your money,

“Well, that’s not very fun. But I supposed that just means I’m right to feel confident about our little rematch.” Looks like he’s back to being a smug jerk.

He holds a Pokeball at the ready. He’s going to throw his out at the same time as yours.

You stretch and consider who to send out. He has poison types, so you know who to use to counter. Then again, maybe he switched it up since he’s not out here to represent his gym. He also probably has one Pokemon he could ride on water. Since it’s not that huge of a bet, you could always just use whoever you think needs some practice.

Meloetta floats off to the side curiously.

“I bet you’re pretty strong, Meloetta. You should watch and see if you like battling.”

She cocks her head, intrigued.

“In etiquette class, we’re taught it’s rude to keep people waiting,” Arledge imatiently taps a foot.

You roll your eyes and reach for a Pokeball. He quickly moves into action and tosses his own.

“Nidoqueen! Show them what you’ve got!”

“Go Nibbles!”

Both Pokemon appear in a brilliant flash of light. They size each other up on the generously sized and reinforced deck.

“You’re not going to go crazy with Earthquake again, are you?” He’s half mocking, half concerned.

“Nidoqueen! Use Double Team!”

The large purple Pokemon starts creating duplicates of itself. It’s going to be harder to hit.

“I don’t need to see it to hit it. Nibbles! Use Earthq-”

Meloetta is the only one within hearing range that doesn't flinch or get ready to jump out of the way. Even the camera crew gets ready to book it. The look on Robin's face is priceless.

“Just kidding! Nibbles, Stealth Rock!”

Nibbles launches a cluster of rocks around the battling arena. His next Pokemon is going to have a nasty surprise.

Now, to deal with Nidoqueen herself. You’ve already lost track of which one is which.

“Which one is the real one!” Arledge laughs. “Nidoqueen, use Double Kick!”

Nidoqueen and her doubles rush in. Just before coming face to face with Nibbles, she kicks him in the midsection, then spins and lands a second kick that knocks his head downward. It looks like it hurt.

“Roar, Nibbles!”

He brings head back up and roars viciously. It’s just as scary as anything Leviathan can do, but in it’s own unique way. He’s really growing up.

Nidoqueen backs away, then runs to Arledge. She trips one of his other Pokeballs on her way out.

Drapion comes out, ready for action. It’s quickly bombarded by Stealth Rock.

“Clever move,” Prince Arledge compliments. “But you’re facing... the king of clever.” He points dramatically. “Drapion and I are going make you pay for that!”

“Nibbles, Use Dragon Dance!”

“Don’t ignore us!” Arledge yells. “Drapion, Rock Smash!”

Drapion runs at Nibbles with incredible speed. Before anyone can react, he strikes at Nibbles with both pincers in a shocking blow, right in the back of the neck. It sends Nibbles crashing to the ground.

You realize after getting a closer look that Drapion’s ability is Sniper. That could not have been a worse outcome for Nibbles, except maybe if he had used a stronger move.

Still, Nibbles is clearly badly hurt. He struggles to his feet to try to perform Dragon Dance, but wavers a bit. He finishes it without thinking thanks to all the training you did exclusively for that move.

But you know he’s below a safe amount of health to battle. He’s only up because he’s pushing himself, just like against that Gyarados before.

I still don't know why we picked Nibbles here, he has nothing that can hit these Poison types. Oh well.

Drapion was also the worst outcome for us since its only weakness is Ground but we have no Ground moves other than Earthquake. Our only hope is to overpower it then quickly KO Nidoqueen with a SE move and I doubt anyone but Destiny can do that. Spam Scald for win? Y/Y?

Robin and Meloetta watch from the sidelines. You don't even have to look to feel the camera rolling on you.

You reach for his Pokeball, but decide against it. Nibbles is pushing himself to the limit. Maybe it’s a little risky, but you don’t let that bother you. He’s a lot stronger now.

30% chance for a free second attack or 100% chance to do over double the damage of Bite? Thunder Fang is statistically superior. Not to mention we're not trying to kill Drapion, just put it within execute range for Destiny so she can clean up.

“Earthquake! Hurry!”

Nibbles glances back knowingly, then quickly performs a ground-shaking Earthquake. The ship shakes despite the reinforced deck and there’s a terrifying creaking sound. The camera crew and Robin scramble to keep themselves upright as they reach for railings and anything else that might help. You suspect that if it weren’t already dark, there’d be people out here who aren’t as quick and might have been bowled over.

“Protect!” Arledge yells in a panic before the shockwave hits Drapion in earnest.

Drapion summons a protective barrier that keeps it from being hurt. It fades right after Earthquake passes over it.

Nibbles breathes heavily. He’s tired. But he doesn’t let it show when Drapion is able to see again.

“You’re mad,” Arledge yells. “Out of your looney mind!”

You see a light flick on in what you assume is the bridge.

>Earthquake again! Drapion can’t protect a second time!

“Thunder Fang!”

Nibbles rushes at the Drapion.

“Quick! Dodge and use Night Slash!!”

It’s too late. Nibbles bites down hard, causing Drapion to yell out and thrash in futility. Nibbles shakes the poor Pokemon like a toy before throwing it loose onto the deck.

But it’s not out! It gets to it’s feet and slashes at Nibbles in revenge. It’s a solid blow, right in the center mass. Nibbles roars and falls back, out cold.

“Good job Drapion! Way to go!”

Drapion looks hurt, but still able to fight. You’re pretty sure any damaging move any of your Pokemon know can take it out, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still a threat.

You pull Nibbles back. “I’m proud of you. You did really well.”

Your hand falls to your belt as you select your next Pokemon.

“Destiny! It’s your turn!” You toss out your agile Kingdra.

Destiny is perfect for this. She’s the right balance of fast, powerful, and bulky. She has very few weaknesses and a typing advantage over Nidoqueen.

[I’ve been struggling with how to represent her dodge training mechanically in a balanced way. I was thinking that because there have been so many sessions exclusively to her dodging, she gets a bonus roll each time she’s targeted to dodge. 10% chance. Does anyone who knows math better than me see any problems I don’t?]
>>
>>39291610
We can try it like this at least.

Seems reasonable, although I think we generally need to think about a good way to represent faster pokemons better ability to dodge. The "normal" system doesn't do that, but it really should.
>>

I don't see any real problems right now but if we can get a hold of an item that increases our invasion further it can get a bit silly.

Holding Brightpowder and using Smokescreen will give us ~40% evasion.

“I’m warning you,” Arledge says, putting his hands up. “It won’t be like last time.”

“Scary Face!” He yells.

“Rain Dance” You tell at the same time.

Destiny gets a glimpse of a horrifying expression from Drapion before doing her Rain Dance. You have to admit, it throws our game off a little too, but you shake your head. You’ve seen scarier. It was just sudden, that’s all.

Rain begins to drizzle. Destiny may have just had her speed harshly lowered, but Rain Dance will compensate for that.

Still, odds are he might still go before you again. You’ll need to be careful. What's his game? Was he just trying to slow Destiny down for Nidoqueen?

“No choice! Use Swagger! Quick!”

Destiny twirls fancily through the wet air. You command the move you seem to use the most. “Scald!”

Swagger doesn’t seem to work and she sprays the Drapion down. Even without Rain Dance, it wouldn’t have been able to take that. Now it’s out without question.

Arledge growls. “You got lucky!” He returns his Drapion. “You did well, Drapion. Nidoqueen will take it from here.”

It’s always sour grapes with these people, isn’t it? Then again, he could be trying to confuse you with bluster.

“We’ll show you what our tutoring and breeding is worth!” he tosses Nidoqueen’s ball and she appears in another flash.

Or maybe he still needs a hard lesson.

A sailor comes running up. “Hey, you there.” He yells to you and Arledge. “I’m sorry, but could you refrain from battling so late? We’ve had complains about a disturbance.” He’s probably talking about Earthquake.

Arledge tries to avoid having his face seen. “This is the battling deck, isn’t it? Reinforced for exactly this purpose?”

“Well, yes...”

“And doesn’t your company say that all passenger needs will be met, day or night?”

“Yes, I suppose, but-”

“But nothing. We need to finish this battle!” Arledge yells at the man.

“We won’t be long,” you assure the sailor. “And the Pokemon using Earthquake is knocked out.”

The sailor looks on in horror. “That’s what that was?”

“Your sign says this is a Pokemon battling area for our convenience,” Arledge says. “If it’s not up to the task, then maybe your ferry isn’t as certified as you’d like the regulating bodies to believe!” Being diplomatic and convincing comes fairly easy to you. It’s frustrating to see someone so oblivious to what the right tone and words are. At least Robin is only overly helpful or naive. Clair gets away with a lot by being funny and small. Arledge is just...ugh.

The sailor looks at both of you. He seems really thrown off by the way Arledge is speaking.

“We’ll be quick,” you tell the sailor, half smirking at the prince. “I promise.”

He nods and gives you room to continue the fight.

“‘We’ll be quick’” Arledge repeats. “Don’t think you have this won yet.”
It occurs to you that this whole thing has wasted precious Rain Dance time.

The camera is still rolling. Robin is watching intentionly. Meloetta isn’t anywhere you can see, but you’re sure she must still be watching too. The sailor gives you a look, like he’s pleading for you to destroy Arledge quickly and hard.

Destiny moves much faster. She lands from her constant dodging blasts Nidoqueen with a relentless, powerful Hydro Pump.

To her credit, Nidoqueen keeps trying to charge. She pushes through the blast, despite the extreme damage it’s doing. Destiny keeps firing into it as Nidoqueen forces herself onward.

But it just isn’t enough. Nidoqueen falters, then gets blown back. She’s pushed almost all the way back to Arledge.

Neither Pokemon attacked with any specific grace or aim, but when it came down to it, Destiny had too many things going for her for the determined Nidoqueen to contend with.

Arledge sighs as he returns his Pokemon. “You fought hard.”

The rain dries up.

Arledge approaches. “I guess it wasn’t a fluke. You really did earn that badge.”

Destiny hops into your arms. You try to hold her like when she was a Horsea, but she’s so much heavier now. You heave her up on your chest with both arms. “Good job Destiny.”

“It was a good match,” you reach out to shake his hand as soon as you find the right balance to do so while holding Destiny. “But you’ve got to remember that just because you’re royalty, doesn’t mean you’re better than everyone. Royalty means you just have to work that much harder.”

He shakes back. His expression is an awkward mix of understanding and childish sarcasm. “Are you certain you’re we’re not related? You sound exactly like father right now.”

You finish shaking and start walking off with Robin. “You better hope not, with the way you’re checking me out right now.”

He struggles to come up with a good denial or a decent comeback. You’re gone well before he can put anything together.

You forcefully take Robin into your shared room and toss her onto the bed, being careful of course to avoid hitting her head on anything.

“W-what are we going to do on the bed?” She avoids your gaze as you grin down at her hungrily.

and I'm also kind of onboard with a little anal play with Robin. nothing crazy, just a little fingering, maybe rimming, if we got some beginner butt plugs or beads try them out, but keep it tender and loving rather than rough for this scene

You decide to practice the flute a bit before joining the others. You take out the ancient flute you found in those terrible ruins, and follow along the notes from that old scroll.

You don’t get too far before you hear a familiar voice joining in. You look up and see Meloetta.

“I hope you were here all night.”

She cocks her head at you, confused. You can tell she obviously wasn’t

“I’m just joking around.” She was looking unsure of how to take that. “So, what brings you here?”

She sings a little tune.

>Focus on practicing. You’ll give her a proper duet later
>Play a duet with her using the ancient scroll song
>Just hang out. Get to know her better without music

“Don’t worry, we’ll have a duet. I just want to make

She looks at you. You feel like she’s trying to tell you not to worry so much about it.

“Thanks, but I messed this up before when it was really important.” You look back into your memory. You hear that horrible scream. “I... I don’t want to do that again.”

You feel like you’ve been doing really well from letting your guilt about it weigh you down, but you still don’t like to think about it if you can help it. It makes all the difference in the world that you’re so close to fixing things, and Robin is doing so well.

Meloetta looks understanding. She relaxes on the bed as you practice. Occasionally she whistles the correct note when you stumble.

You feel like you’ve gotten some good practice.

You head to the dining area and join your friends for breakfast.

Vance eats with intense hunger as Jeanine stretches. You’ve never seen her look so content or worn out.

You catch a glimpse of Vance’s face between his bites. He looks happy too, if famished. For him, that’s saying a lot.

Clair looks awkward. She doesn’t seem to have gotten much sleep.

You lean in to Clair. “So, you’re telling him today, right?”

She nods, still staring off into nothing, looking exhausted. “After we get to land and get on the road.”

You guess that makes sense if she wants to avoid a scene. If he takes it badly, the woods are a better spot than a ship full of strangers.

Robin glances at you. She looks pretty content herself. You love how loving her expression is. “We’ll be arriving back at Alloycaster soon.”

You don’t have much time if there’s anything else you want to do on the ship.

there were two lewdings going on around her again. And one of them was, if I counted the votes right, people trying anal for the first time while the others tried vanilla sex for the first time. Clair had a fun night

You scarf down your food as you hear an announcement saying something about the ship staying in Alloycaster for awhile for some sort of structural upgrade. You tune it out as you study Legendaries.

You take out your Pokedex and pull up information on Meloetta. “Melly Otah. The Mellow D Pokemon. Its a manipulative, terrifying creature that can twist your very soul on it’s whims.”

That sounds a bit off. You take out Robin’s Pokedex instead. “Its melodies are sung with a special vocalization method that can control the feelings of those who hear it.”

Oh. Huh. You spend time learning as much as you can about legendaries, focusing on Meloetta. You feel like you're really getting to know a lot. Moves, habits, lore, some bits about locations, and more. You bet you could even hold your own on trivia against Robin or Clair.

You pull into the Alloycaster port. It’s the same place you left from originally.

“Isn’t it great out?” Jeanine looks like she’s in an almost dreamlike state. “So what’s the plan?”

They'll probably have a TV or something there. They usually have rooms anyway.

Maybe it'll already be on?

There'll be a tv there. There's always a tv.
Also, the captcha was 'sperm', so until proven otherwise I'm going to assume the pokemon centre is overrun by escaped wailord.
