So what kind of psychological makeup do you find in a bunch of pseudo-Russian supersoldier monks living out a Metroidvania reality with the threat of madness looming constant over their heads?
>>
>>39343470
I don't know, but whatever it is, it would drive mortal men to madness.
>>
We need to add Devastator commander Tourge Grimsky to the wiki entry
>>
>>39343470
Apparently, one that enjoys initiate hazing.
"Okay Artyom, the next test is to.. Uh.. Cut down a mighty tree! Using only your combat knife, then drag it all the way to base!"
They love on the pole. The biggest trees are only found on the equator.
>>
Heraldry that ain't.

For a symbol/logo it's got a pretty bad case of over-design going on, on top of just general ineptitude.
>>
last thread i posted about their relation with the other sons of Sangy. They said to wait till this thread.

Also, what about less Russian and more Tibetan monk additions to our favorite wraiths
>>
>>39343533
Keep in mind everyone comes from subsistence nomads who wander the frozen wastes under constant threat of hypothermia, starvation, or animal attack. I'm thinking weirdly lax about everything.
>>

Their scout commander was raised by Yetis, that is all.
>>
>>39343566
Or a snow version of Baal?
>>
>>39343609
It's more a fight for survival thing than anything else. The mentality should be along the lines of "You survived to double digits. Either you know what you're doing or are incredibly lucky. Either way I'm ok with you"
>>
>>39343596
Who? I think I missed him.
>>39343622
So like every other death world?
>>
>>39343561
I think I know what you mean. The design is fine I'd say, just overcomplicated. A more simplistic flake and skull perhaps would do it.

>>39343650
Technically we're Feral.
>>
>>39343650
More fatalistic and accepting of it that fighting for survival. It's not like a "GRRRRR WE ARE DA BEST CAUSE WE ARE BIG MUSCLE MEN RAWR" Its more a "Oh cool you're not dead today"
>>
What is left to discus you ask?
What is our organisation?
Do we have companies like good marines or do we prefer to fuck that shit?
Do we have bikes or do we ride on our yetis?
How many marines are in our chapter?
Why our heraldy is looking like twisted Malal icon?
Where is our sector?
Whats our job in our sector?
How did we answer the call of Blood Angels?
Why is there dead inquisitor in a room next to me?
>>
>>39343650
>Who? I think I missed him.
Well the rest of the chapter is a bit off center (Our Devastator Commander is an unholy union of Tourge Flexington, BRIAN BLESSED and The Heavy for crying out loud), so I thought "How can I make 10th company different, Oh! I know! The commander Has had his brain transplanted into a, specially prepared, Yeti, That'll work!"

Forgive my lack of art skills, but maybe something like this would fix the overdesign? This, and maybe make the skull a bit more "military", and not street art like the one in the OP.

From the last thread and posts about how we view the other Chapters, I'm assuming somewhere there isn't any Tau.
>>
>>39343878
Like that dude said in the last thread, the whole BA successor thing isn't THAT big a deal for us.

And that one has to many snowflake spikes(?) for me to call simplified.
>>
>>39343878
No The one with the skull is more representative of the chapter. We should simplify the skull one
>>
>>39343956
well I'm more of an edit fag then a drawfag, if someone can make me a decent skull with fangs i can edit it in
>>
What do we do with Yetis belonging to the Wendigos when they fall?
Euthanization? Put them in the same pod as their master for one last glorious chrage behind the lines? Like, what?
>>
>>39343749
>We didnt cause nids
But even Knight of Blood answered BA call. Do we want to be considered traitors?
>Already discussed. Yetis all the way
And what if someones yeti dies? He captures new one or he walks on foot from now?

Do we have Veterans?
What you have to do to become one of them?
Also do we use plasma? Its not really fire but it may cause some discomfort
Do we have terminators?
If yes than whats their role on the battlefield?
Do they ride giantic yetis?
What happens to yetis of guys that drive vehicles? They walk along,or are they left in a monastery?
>>
>>39344067
>And what if someones yeti dies? He captures new one or he walks on foot from now?
that was already talked about in a previous threat, if you let your yeti die you're a shame to the squad and do not deserve a new one or vehicle
>>
>>39344067
>considered traitor
We couldn't make it off our planet and we wouldn't have recieved the call cause shadow in the warp. It would be literally impossible for us to come and the BAs are pretty understanding dudes
>>
>>39344178
Maybe just give them collar of shame or stop giving them blood of surfs? This seems like too hard punishment
>>39344183
Almost forget we are going to get nomnomed.
They will understand, they are pretty cool dudes if we wont count all that blood rage and vampirism

So maybe discuss organisation? Looks like we are stuck with current topic
>>
>>39344224
Basically for BAs the call happened right as Mi-go appeared in-system. Shadow in the warp prevented us from getting the message and we were so embroiled in the conflict that we couldn't anyway. We also lost nearly half the chapter to it
>>
>>39344224
It's not that hard of a punishment on an operational sense, you just no longer get to do the jobs that require a mount.
>>
>>39344067
>And what if someones yeti dies? He captures new one or he walks on foot from now?
Don't think we came up with something other than them dying brings great shame and dishonour upon the marine. But i'd say that they have to walk, or capture a fully grown one (something that's virtually impossible, or at least very hard to do.)
>>
>>39344275
How the yeti dies is also important. Something genuinely out of your control on the battlefield doesn't net you any shame from the chapter and allows you to attempt to capture a full grown yeti as a replacement. Something that is your fault or at the very least preventable brings you shame. Whether or not you are shamed is determined by an ad hoc tribunal.

Either is a step in the right direction. Second's probably better conceptually, two doodads is simpler and better than three. Then have someone who knows his graphical design simplify shit down to the point where a decidedly average painter could freehand it on the pauldrons of his space marines.

Also, ice blue + blood red = nope
>>
>>39344259
Maybe a few of our marines were there, as that is our way of crusading. Like, maybe half a company at least.
>>
>>39344483
The red was just to illustrate it being a blood drop, on the pauldron it would probably be white or blue on a black skull, no?

>>
>>39344955
It looks fine, but the white of the skull will be pretty unnoticable when on a shoulderpad that is also white.
And i don't know if i'm in the minority here, but i really think the fangs are sort of integral with our theme.
>>
>>39345174
Fangs are important but we want a fairly simplistic design for the pauldrons. I intend to keep the previous (too complicated) one in the gallery as more of a "formal" insignia on stuff like fortresses, ships etc
>>
>>39345289
He only has to remove the middle lower doodad and turn the other two in to fangs. I think the result would be much better.
>>
>>39343878
I really like this one, its simple, and reflects their blood angels heritage and the fact that they are icey motherfuckers.
>>
>>39345410
We've already pretty much vetoed this one. There needs to be a skull
>>
>>39345436
But wont a white skull clash with the white-ish power armor they are wearing? And a skull isnt really a symbol thats featured alot in blood angels founding chapters.
>>
>>39345522
Doesn't matter what's in other BA chapters. Not many BA successors are technophiles like we are. And why would the skull clash? It just won'y stand out unless it has the outline we already put on it
>>
>>39345595
What does a skull have to do with technophilia? If anything you should have a cog or something then, since they are vampires and a BA successor with ice guns, a snowflake with a teardrop is like THE symbol for them.
>>
>>39345666
The point was that we don't have to do it like BA successors normally do. That's kinda the point of creating an original chapter is not making it like the others. We already decided on a skull from literally the first thread. There is going to be a skull in it. All the versions of it have just been altered versions of the core idea we came up with in the first thread which was:
skull
Blood drop
Snowflake
We already know that that's what we want it's just making different versions until one works

We have Veterans.
To become one, you have to do a whole goddamn metroidvania dungeon for real. Starting out with a knife and clothing, piece by piece reclaiming your warhead that let's you then progress through the dungeon. Oddly enough, wall chicken is a thing.
A final sparring bout with the Chapter Aster to ensure you learnt everything, final boss style.

I guess we have some plasma. But we're really focussed on cryothium. It's just kind of there in the armor if a brother thinks "today I need to melt some shit".

Yetis are great, but we do have vehicle operators and snowmobile marines too dammit. Living mounts aren't always practical.
Fluff, I'd say the yetis escort the vehicles. Or ride inside if big enough. But crunch, they're just not there.
Termies? Hmm... I'unno.

>>39345666
We're pretty big into bones, Satan. Maybe the skull should have a bionic eye though, Mechanicus type.
>>

>>39345965

>>
>>39343470
They probably embrace the situation and don't take it entirely seriously, hence the long-running contest for new ice puns in the last thread. Some marines might spend time creating complicated booby traps in the tunnels for the Nids to stumble into that happen to be overcomplicated or ridiculous.

Example: In the winter months Brother Kronieg liked to build. He would travel down the tunnels for miles and miles until he was at the very edge of the Wraith's territory and the tunnels began to drip the disgusting slime that indicated xenos presence. Some of his brothers preferred no-nonsense devices such as buried mines or tripwire melt charges that would collapse the ceiling and kill some of the larger xenos forms. Brother Kronieg had a different method. First there would be the automated flamers, triggered by dormant servitors, scything through the masses of scouting bugs and causing them to scrabble back. Then they would stumble onto the delayed pressure plate, sending a massive stone block down to crush the bugs and stall the heavier, more dangerous creatures. Once the abominations tried to break through the block, the melta charges on its backside would detonate, further imprisoning the xenos between a wall of their own flesh. And finally, the tremors from the falling block, the Carnifex attempts to break through, and the milling anguish of the swarm would shake loose the massive, razor sharp icicles Brother Kronieg had carefully shaped with a spare laspistol.

He nodded approvingly. In exactly two days and twenty-six minutes, the icicles would be ripe to fall. And until then? Cringe smiled beneath his helmet. He had two days to work with and miles worth of monofilament wire in his bag. Oh the possibilities...
>>
>>39345789
Well then you better get someone that makes a good skull, because the ones I'm seeing in this thread looks like shit, and the snowflake is both original and alot nicer looking. And talking about not making it like other chapters and then going for a skull as a symbol is ironic as fuck.
>>
>>39346166
Since when were we aiming for a different looking emblem? It's a goddamn space marine chapter, a skull is perfect any chapter.

Didn't make it into the wiki, but it's in the archive:

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/39328459/

>The use of cryotherapy to hold the Red Thirst at bey is not completely successful. It leads to a condition the Ice Wraiths call "Zamorozhennyye Dusha", or "The Frozen Soul". The predatory hunger of the Red Thirst is still present, but it is tempered by a cold poise. Brothers succumbing to The Frozen Soul will often toy with their targets, spreading fear and confusion in order to better enjoy the panic of their prey. Some have even been known to converse with their prey before killing them.

>Such behaviour is often seen even after a brother falls to the Black Rage. The infamous "Wendigos" of the Ice Wraith Chapter are no less savage and murderous than their counterparts in the death companies of other Sanguinary chapters, but they posses a psychotic patience which allows them to act with stealth while still compelling them to hunt their prey. It is only the most far gone of the Wendigo who lapse into the berserker fury the other sons of Sanguinius are known.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inuit_mythology#Creatures_and_Spirits

>Qalupalik is a myth/legend told by Inuit parents and elders to prevent children from wandering to the shore. Qalupalik are human-like creatures with long hair, green skin and long finger nails that live in the sea. They wear amautiit, in which they carry away babies and children who disobey their parents or wander off alone. They take the children underwater, where they adopt them as their own.

Qalupalik could be the brothers in charge of recruiting aspirants.

>Saumen kars or 'Tornits' are the Inuit version of the hairy man or yeti myth.

Saumen Kar; formal name for our Yeti mounts

>Tizheruk are snake-like monsters.

Tizheruk; nickname for 'nids?

>The Angakkuq was the shaman of a community of Inuit.

Angakkuq; title for librarian or chief libarian

>Tupilaq are avenging monsters which were invoked using Shamanic magic.

Tupilaq; name for our librarian's terrifying psychokinetic powers

>Qallupilluit are "troll-like" creature that come after misbehaving children.

>>39352619
They did use "Angakut (Angakok singular)" as the title for their Chaplains, and "Wendigowak (Wendigo singular)" as the name for the brothers who had fallen to the black rage. Those are the only similarities though. They are explicitly "cave men" rather than inuit.

Throwing in some Algonquin and Cree into the mix, as well as some good old Siberian Shamanism and the like, I think we're really going for "people from really cold places" Marines.

Perhaps their librarius and chaplain system is unified as it is in the White Scars. We could call it the Mideweigawaan or the like, drawing from the esoteric societies in Algonquin cultures.

Perhaps a term like Midewaag for the Librarians, being a take off on the Mide- secret, with a -ag (ak) ending, making it roughly "one of the mystery" in pseudo-Ojibwe.
>>
>>39343349
What if the simple symbol was icicle fangs?
>>
>>39353708

I like the idea of them drawing geometric patterns in colored sand in the floors of ice caves as a meditative practice (ala Tibetan Buddhism)
It might also be neat if they had a set of rituals surrounding embodying totemic animal as an attempt to control the worst effects of the Black Rage. It's by no means perfect, though.

They might see the Emperor as the source of the energy of the four quarters, and focus more on venerating Sanguinius and their ancestors in the chapter, treating the Emperor more as an abstract embodiment of power and human potential. I'd really hate to call him Gitche Manidoog, but it could be something in that vein.

I also think it would be cool for dreams to be very important to them, with Sanguinius and previous chapter masters coming to them.

Actually, I recall discussion earlier about them passing down duties from one warrior to the next, so perhaps previous bearers of the name or what have you visit them.

The drawing patterns in caves would be good and the importance of dreams would be accurate, considering how the Marines might find it easier to sleep in the Winter months or if buried. Perhaps they view particularly powerful dreams as messages from Sanguinius or the Emperor?
>>
>>39353858
>I recall discussion earlier about them passing down duties from one warrior to the next

do you mean the "Keep what you kill" stuff from last thread?

>"Keep what you kill" originally meant you were entitled to the property and social status of whoever you killed. For space marines this would mean a license to take trophies from enemies they've slain, and possibly indicate you could only claim the weapons of a fallen battle brother if you killed the enemy who slew Them. Thus, the weapons and armor of Riddick XII may only be wielded by the marine who successfully hunts down and executes Korraletch, the Dark Eldar Haemonculus who slew the twelf Riddick with a poisoned blade.

>This would also mean promotions can be based on being able to take out the enemy which had killed the prior occupant of a position. So if you slay the 'nid lictor which killed your sargeant, then you become the new sargeant.

>"Keep what you kill" in this sense leads to the Ice Wraiths being obsessed with vendettas against particularly dangerous foes. These "blood hunts" can take decades or centuries and span hundreds or thousands of light years.

>It also means that a Marine who has to give his Brother the Emperor's Peace inherits his vendettas and obligations.
>>
>>39354576
Definitely. If we're going really close to Algonquin stuff, they might take an name or oath name from it.

Perhaps they append oaths of the moment to their names or something?
>>39354677
Ah, yeah. Perhaps if you inherit wargear, you inherit part of their name and their oaths, in addition to getting it from granting them the Emperor's peace. (Since that'd mean that apothecaries would be buried under oaths.)
>>
>>39354137
We've actually got our chapter colors down pat.
>>
>>39353858
>I also think it would be cool for dreams to be very important to them, with Sanguinius and previous chapter masters coming to them.

If we're doing that I think part of their thing with dreams is that what is presented in dreams is interpreted differently based on who appears in your dream. As such, the meaning of otherwise identical imagery changes depending on who the marine believes sent him the images, the Emperor, Sanguinius, or the Chapter Masters.
>>

Well you've also got the interpretations arrived at by others who are helping him figure out what's going on. Could do a little inter-chapter rivalry when someone thinks an omen means something different than what others do.
>>
>>39356575
On that note, exactly how well does the chapter get along internally? Are they brother's to the end, are there just a few squabbles, or even potential splinter groups? Differing views on how to treat Wendigoes, maybe?
>>
>>39356654
I like the idea of them being on good terms, brothers to the end, but with friendly rivalry. They're not as loud as Space Wolves, but I'd imagine singing songs of battles and ritual duels. Perhaps warriors compete to see who can slay the most foes or who can take the finest head.
On the battle field, however, I think they'd be as ice. Silent except for the chanting and the shake of bone rattles.

To outsiders, they'd come across as frigid, but earn their respect and they'll treat you as a brother. Some things they don't share with anyone who hasn't been ritually initiated. They see the Space Wolves as loud mouthed and childish, the Ultramarines as stuck up and rigid. I think they'd appreciate the warrior spirit of the sons of Dorn, but find that they lack the joy of fighting. They get the White Scars and get on well.
I imagine they'd understand the Raven Guard and the Dark Angels desire for secrecy.

This aside, they're scary dudes; I imagine they enjoy filling their foes with terror, in many ways it's a mission goal. They intentionally leave a bloody wake and I see the terror as a core component of their warrior persona.
That's why there's so much debate over what to do with the Winter Hunger and the Wendigoes.--some see it as almost a logical conclusion of their way of war and seek to channel it and others see it as an abomination and perversion of it.

I think both sides practice blood drinking rites. Perhaps they mark themselves with the blood of enemies?
>>
>>39357026
Oh and I'm imagining them having a fairly distributed command structure, with companies competing at feasts and the like.

Maybe the companies are somewhat ad hoc and organized around oaths and dream missions. The chapter command can override things, but in general, the brothers go where they think they are needed.

Perhaps at feasts, brothers blessed with dreams rise and tell their dream and interpret it. They declare their mission and ask who will join them. People can offer other interpretations, too.

Usually such dreams come to multiple battle brothers or they have interlinked dreams so that when one rises and tells what they saw, it triggers something in a Brothers dream and they rise too.

I think librarians and chaplains help interpret them too.
>>
>>39356654
I'd say they get along fine, no worse than average at least. Internal squabbles would be arbitrated by the chaplains or settled through trial by combat to the blood. Large grievances would be decided by honor duels to the death, although this is generally rare as honor duels are specifically excluded from the 'keep what you kill" custom.
>>
>>39357026
>On the battle field, however, I think they'd be as ice. Silent except for the chanting and the shake of bone rattles.

Except of course, for their battle cry and Litany of serene conflict.

>This aside, they're scary dudes; I imagine they enjoy filling their foes with terror, in many ways it's a mission goal. They intentionally leave a bloody wake and I see the terror as a core component of their warrior persona.

This seems to be more a thing the Wendigos do, seeing as how they are released before the main forces to sow terror among the enemy.

>That's why there's so much debate over what to do with the Winter Hunger and the Wendigoes.

This debate could be at the core of the chapter's battle tactics. I like it.

>I think both sides practice blood drinking rites. Perhaps they mark themselves with the blood of enemies?

The last thread's chapter armor detailed that new bloods (neophytes) had blue helmet pipes instead of red like the rest of the chapter to set them apart from the regular marines. This was interpreted as their fangs not having enough blood. Perhaps we should use the blood as a metaphorical rather than literal facet of the chapter.
>>
>>39357088
The blood rites could be largely used symbolically, like to denote passage from one station to another. More akin to the majority of real world blood rituals rather than what you think when you hear "blood ritual" in 40k.
>>
>>39357163
Speaking of blood, are the face grills of the wendigos literal blood or just paint?
>>
>>39357231
Depends on when you're looking at them.
>>
The chapter's livery is now up on the wiki page.
>>
We have a mutated Occulobe, right? What about our other organs? Given the amusing anecdotes about us finding average temperate planets too hot while the Salamanders find them too cold, I think it's safe to say that our Mucranoid is a little altered. And given that the Omophagea lets space marines gain knowledge from the brains they eat, how about working that into the hunting rituals the chapter seems to have?
>>
>>39357231
Paint. Unless the wendigo is a messy eater. Wendigos innceontol enough, like some frozen souls, do interact with other marines from time to time before returning to their ice tunnel hermit cells or being "put on ice". So it's a good reminder to anyone looking that yes, he's polite now but a bloodthirsty cannibal. Keep a bolter at hand.
>>
>>39358775
>innceontol
Holy fuck am I out of it. *In control
>>
>>39358800
I thought that them not being in control was why we kept them on ice.
>>
>>39357163
So a blood ritual for every time you change station? Would there be any difference in one if you're an assault marine or devastator? Do assault marines even exist?
>>
>>39358837
The ones that far gone don't get to come out, yeah. I do mean the ones who're so crazy that they almost appear sane at first.
>>
>>39358856
Of course we have Assault marines. They are just fielded with less flashy weapons as opposed to the usual flair, like chainswords. The chapter believes combat should be more quick and direct. Trench knife-ish weapons and power fists and such.
>>
>>39357088
Does that mean that some would use the Frozen Soul? kind of Wendigo's? I mean, some might appreciate their ability to kill efficiently on the battlefield.
>>
>>39358888
Probably. They wouldn't go as far as the wendigos do though. Those that overuse it would become wendigos themselves, hence the Chapter's constant reserves of Wendigos despite their high fatality rate. This is argued by those who approve of the Frozen Soul as important for the Chapter to purge the Mi-Go threat.
>>
>>39358882
Wait, don't they use jetpacks? Wouldn't they fall cause most of the planet is made of glaciers? I imagine they'd use bikes. And why would they replace their chainswords? Tyranids have hard exoskeletons and since they also have a layer of fur above them I think it would be useful if they had chainswords.
>>
>>39359097
And I forgot to bump. Same guy here.
>>
>>39359097
They wouldn't use Bikes, they'd use Yetis. And we've established the chapter's views on close combat before. Power weapons are more their style. Some Marines, particularly Wendigos and those who admire their style may use Chainswords for the reaction of fear it produces when the enemy suddenly hears a Chainsword revving up. This would mean that while Chainswords are still very much a part of the Chapter, their use isn't as common as with other chapters.
>>
>>39359245
Oh. Do they still use jetpacks?

>>39358959
I imagine that the Chapter Master determines how Wendigo's should be used.
>>
>>39359289
Yes, they still use jetpacks, which work well in cold climates like all of the chapter wargear. They would probably use their Yetis to approach the battlefield, then jump off and use their jetpacks to begin their assault.

Chapter Master Riddick is currently allowing the continued use of Wendigos, as they are more of a help than a hindrance. Their regulation is a matter of cool debate among the chapter's ranks, but they generally agree that Wendigos are currently a necessity in their battles against the tyranid foe.
>>
>>39359289
Jetpacks see somewhat less use than other Chapters, due to a lot of very close-quarter fighting in tunnels and occasionally urban combat when a tyranid enters the surrounding city or even the fortress proper.
Bikes can't always climb a steep slope or suddenly turn around like a footed mount can. Plus the whole 'autonomous helpful defender' thing that only living beings can do without dipping into abominable intelligences.

In the icy wastes and open battlefields, jetpacks are amazing at appearing in unexpected directions which suits the marines well, but usually not used in ambushes or initial strikes due to the hefty amount of noise they make that gives the enemy foreknowledge of an attack and direction. In open battle however the Chapter uses them as much as anyone else.
Modified snowmobile bikes have their place in the Chapter. Maybe a yeti is injured, sick or simply unsuitable for the mission. If you need to hold up camp and observe a tyranid nest for several days, bringing a massive pile of yeti feed isn't as practical as just fuelling a snowmobile with enough for the trip there and back, leaving the bike turned off while observing. Yetis are the more popular choice, but sometimes machinery trumps flesh, as they know all too well.
>>
>>39359617
You're forgetting that our yeti's are cybernetically altered. We probably can fuel them and set them into a "sleep mode" to conserve said fuel. That being said, the bikes probably do see some minor use.
>>
Bump for brother Klaus. He's still in mourning over losing his yeti to Brother Boril's misfire.
>>
If a wraith is trained to fight and die with a Yeti that they've raised and trained, and that the codex does cover what happens for a wraith if their Yeti companion dies before the Wraith, then consider this:
>Do the Wraiths get a replacement? or do they have to start from scratch and find another Yeti to raise and enhance?
>What happens to the Yeti companion if the Wraith dies First and the Yeti is still alive?
>What would happen to the Yeti companion if a Wraith falls to the Red Thirst? I would also speculate that having a Yeti companion would help suppress the Red Thirst as a psychological support in the likeness of raising a pet. But on the same coin make the Wraith more vulnerable to the Red Thirst.
Your thoughts on this matter Chapter Master?
>>
>>39360513
I shall do my best to answer these interesting question. Whenever a Marine's Yeti is killed, the following question is asked: "Is the Marine responsible for the death of his mount?" If the answer is yes, the Marine is dishonored, and must forgo usage of a yeti mount until he redeems himself in battle and atones for his disgrace. If no, then the marine either captures and trains a new yeti from scratch, or is given the yeti of a fallen battle brother to take as his own. Yetis are not merely mounts or owned things, they are companions, and as such the Yetis of fallen Marines are kept in a single large enclosure in the fortress monastery. Any Marine who has lost their Yeti companion must enter this chamber, to be tested. If a yeti reacts positively to this marine, then he and that Yeti are paired up once more. If none do so, he shall raise a new mount. Any yetis belonging to those that have succumbed to the Red thirst are retained by those marines. The Wendigos ride their mounts into battle, having marked them with red dyes to signify their status. Neither the Wendigo nor their mount has a very high chance of survival on the field of battle, with a yeti rarely surviving a Wendigo's first deployment. For this reason, most Wendigos are deployed without a mount, and far in front of the main force as a preliminary strike.

Now, our next round is something we like to call... Quickfire Hypotheticals!
>cheesy theme song plays

Now... An Ice Wraith is planet side, fighting an ork WAAAGH! -oh I *do* like saying that- but yes, *a-hem* the noble Astartes is planet side, fighting some dastardly Orks, with the aim to recover a partial STC. En route however, they note that the high density domicile is currently under seige. A couple of arbites are holding the horde off, but are about to fold.
Going out of their way to rescue civilians may well cause the technology to be moved to an unknown location, or even for it to be destroyed! But pressing on will surely mean complete destruction. Splitting up is, alas not a real option as it could well cause a defeat in both options with the lack of numbers.
Does the squad continue on their mission to recover the technology, or divert to help rescue civilians?

Ye-es... I fear you fail to see the point in this exercise.
So what you're saying is, damn the odds, never leave a man behind? Well, nice when it works out but disastrous when it doesn't. I suppose that explains the high fatality rate and the loss of marines quelling the ork WAAAGH! -marvellous word- some...what.. Yes.

Well, this is *quickfire* hypothetical, so moving on.. This time on a Civilised Shrine world, a Chaos warband passed through and as part of the retaking and purification of the planet, an Ice Wraith squad is moving through the city. Putting.. Putting down cultists, the little disgusting squishy daemons, you know the sort of thing.
They're then hailed, and told that an opposing squad of heretical chaos space marines was spotted heading towards the local cathedral. A very sacred place, bones of a saint and a full golden icon of the Emperor in his Throne. They do however pick up on their local voxcoders a couple of PDF troopers are wounded and need assistance.
Which do they save THIS time? The holy relics from being irrevocably desecrated by the fiends in power armor, or a couple relatively insignificant lives? Delaying for a second will mean the relics are destroyed and corrupted, but immediate action will save them.
Gosh, it isn't an easy question is it? And and there's no right answer after all. That's why we call it quick fire hypotheticals.

Don't forget these guys aren't paladins, they're cannibal cyborg supersoldiers made of tribals. What do the Wraiths do?

What use are some pointless relics of dead saints being worshipped by fools who keep what they did not kill?

We seek honor in battle and aid those who seek to fight and gain honor in glorious battle.

Keep what you kill brother. There will be a time for vengeance for the dead later, for now there is much killing to be done, and warriors to lead in a grand hunt. Death to the Heretics first, capturing a catedral later.

Unless you mean the PDF aren't in immediate danger and are just stranded, then we follow he Chaos marines to where they are heading to the cathedral. Really, We follow the Blood and prioritize whiping out as many fiends, daemons, and heretics as we can. purifying stuff can come later.

Keep what you kill. Its what Lord Marshal Riddick would have wanted.

Noice. This thread is still up. So I've been thinking, do their Librarians use psychic frost powers? I imagine you'd piss your pants after a librarian just freezes your friends and smashes them with a thunder hammer.
>>
>>39369276
We have guns for that. Science is the ice, psykers and flesh are the blood.
Maybe they freeze your blood or something though.
>>
>>39369350
Our librarians would probably focus on the fear and blood aspects of our chapter.
>>
>>39365841
Does this make us like Salamanders, to a degree?
>>
>>39369691
Kinda, except the Salamanders focus more on preserving human life, whereas we focus more on honoring the fighting and bloodshed of the living, alongside a sense of glory-seeking and love of glorious battle.

Basicaly they'd work well together since the Salamanders would hold the defensive line while the Wraiths make a vector through the enemy line.
>>
>>39369691
I'm honestly a little dubious about that. Why are we good duys again? I can see helping IG and even PDF due to some kind of battle honour, but... I dunno, due to all the cold-hearted acts and frozen soul stuff, surely we'd be more.... "if a few civilians die but the job gets damn well done.. Eh. People die all the time. No biggie."
When I hear cyborg vampires, I don't think of particularly nice guys. We may WANT them to be nice from an outside perspective, looking at the universe. But from in-universe.. the Wraiths are some of the most vicious and terrifying bastards in the Imperium. And I just can't match that fact to the idea of dropping a mission or even compromising it for people who don't even kill shit.
>>
>>39369661
I do like the idea that the fear manifests very viscerally via cold, though.

>>39369691
I agree with >>39369899
with regard to the civilians, though I think if:
There's a battle someplace and there's a bunch of peasants who have erected improvised barricades and are trying to repel cultists/orks/what-have-you with moltov cocktails and the old las-rifles over the mantle, the Wraiths might well divert to aid in the battle.

I think they call it the warrior spirit or the like, but in reality, they like to see the ferocity at the heart of humanity unleashed.
A guy like Simo Hayha would be right up their alley.
>>
>>39370146

Makes sense considering their home planet. You don't work or at least act as a goddamn wise man, fuck off. It's hard enough living on pseudo-seals and dodging giant alien beasts without hangers on.

I mean if there's nothing better to do, all humanity DOES belong to the Emperor and defending his property is a very good thing to do. But if defending manufactorums is the order, that's the order. The order wasn't given for shits and giggles, there's a reason behind it.
>>
>>39370263
Don't worry, he's in the Imperium in some form or another.
Maybe he's a Magos somewhere.

>>39370286
He wasn't really ever a noncombatant civilian though was he? It's human ferocity the Wraiths respect. You could be in an IG uniform but if all you did is piss in your helmet, they're going to help the seventy year old crotchety factory worker who shanked a cultist before you.
>>
>>39370286
True. I would imagine this would also effect our treatment of the tenth company.
>>
>>39370373
I'm thinking their viewed as weapons to be sharpened. Expectations and standards are high, not out of some perverse joy in being a dick, but because they know that aspirants and scouts have it in them. Just sometimes, it needs to be dragged out.
I'm thinking something of a very "tough love" approach.--they'd never have wasted the time to begin with if they didn't think you'd be useful to the chapter.

>>39370360
Exactly.
>>
>>39370146
Librarians would prolly freeze men's blood, or boil them. Maybe they be like the Water clan in the Last Airbender, learning how to spontaneously create glaciers from the ground to impale men, or something. Or make air chilly to psyche out the heretics.
>>
How pious are the Wraiths? How much responsibility do Chaplains have? I imagine their self-made bone and metal doodads are something to do with Emperor worship as well as ancestor and brother respect. Etching the Emprah in your latest scrimshaw project is never going to hurt your look.

>>39370586

The cold fog and the shadows therein sap morale. And in the icy cold night, the wind is our laughter.

So they wait, huddled around their fires, heretics and xenos watching the darkness and the snow, knowing that we will come for them.

And when we do come, they scramble to action, slipping on ice. The fuel freezes in their tanks, the wind tears through their clothing. Some die of hypothermia.

The winter wind and snow is our home, so we bring it with us and always fight on our terms.

>>39371706
Yeah. That's why I suggested that the Librarians would use them in combat. Coupled with a marine's auto-senses, they could easily strike an enemy blinded or even kill some without them realizing it. Besides, as >>39371707 said, it can debilitate the enemy before they even strike.

Also since they use cryothermal weaponry, it isn't far off that their Apothecaries would use a modified version of the Narthecium that "freezes" Marines in stasis, alowing them to keep a severely injured Marine stable.

Also we determined that in addition to our cryothermal weapons we detonate in the upper atmosphere of planets we attack, our librarians specialize in blood and cold based shit, allowing them to create a little cold environment on the fly, chill the enemy to the bone, scare the shit out of them, etc. Pretty much it.
>>
>>39378536
Turns out when you get feral worlders, tell them to be spooky as fuck and shank everything that looks at them funny, not the nicest guys. Mission priority goes;
>Aiding Fighters>Mission Objective>Civilians>Other shit
If you don't help yourself, the Wraiths aren't going to go out of their way. Doesn't matter if you're a professional soldier or a citizen militia though, so long as you're willing to throw down the Wraiths have your back.

Our Librarians like summoning cold shit and fog, then freezing enemy psykers blood in their veins. Plus ancestor spirit invoking to get other Wraiths pumped. Apothecaries use a sort of cryogenic suspension on the wounded that need more than a quick battlefield patch up or need transport to a dreadnought coffin.

Though when we have to pick between arguably equally important objectives, fuck the odds, let's go for both!
It fails as often as it succeeds, possibly why we lost numbers fighting the WAAAGH!, but what are you gonna do? NOT try to kill and save as many xenos and humans respectively?

Also maybe Stephen Fry is somehow in space?
>>
>>39378690
>Also maybe Stephen Fry is somehow in space?
There is no maybe. Brother Fry is one of our most thoughtful and ingenious Sangikuqq Mystics.
>>
>Apothecaries use a sort of cryogenic suspension

AIN'T IT BETTER TO USE A STASIS POD OR SOME SHIT, I REMEMBER THINGS LIKE THAT BEING A THING. UNLESS THIS IS ON SPOT IN BATTLE KIND OF DEAL.

ALSO NOISE TO ALL, I'D BE BALLHAPPY IF ANY OF YOU TRIED MAKING DEATHWATCH CHARACTER TOO BUT IT'S GUCCI.

MAN YOU GUYS ROCK.
>>
>>39378716
I'd make a deathwatch Ice Wraith in a heartbeat if I had writes of battle, but for some reason I could only get all the other Chapter focused books for Deathwatch. Also, fuck Stasis Pods, this shit is faster and quicker. It helps that the places we use it are usually cold as all hell because of our Cryothermal weapons.
>>
>>39378712
I'm guessing he's not from Nixarteria then. Maybe a dread veteran?

>>39378716
I think the freezing is yeah, a battlefield suspension. Slap a metal clamp thing on their torso and let it freeze them and emit a beacon for recovery later or so the battle-servitors know to drag him away to a medicae.

Same I guess for wendigos on ice. They're really just in stasis pods. But the pods are found in t.he icy basement and the entire chapter is obsessed with ice puns in Gothic.

>>
>>39378755
Anon that suggested frost psykers and freeze Narthecium here. It's a spot on battle kind of thing, and only used on severely injured marines. Oh, and a suggestion:

"As time went by the Wendigos became more myth than truth, often being thought of as souls chained to the material world. Adepts and Chapter Surfs would share stories of men wilder than Yetis, tearing apart limbs and drinking the blood of their enemies, only to disappear after a battle.

Basically the lower level guys think that the Wendigo's are myth, 'til they see them on the battlefield..
>>
>>39378755
Alright let's get to fucking work guys. Like stated previously, we need our solo mode ability, squad mode shit, all that jazz. So for Solo mode, I'm thinking we either pick the particular characteristic for willpower because holy shit are we hardcore, or we take really good fucking skills for Wrangling and Concealment. Wrangling because we ride goddamn Yetis, and Concealment because DRILL PODS MOTHERFUCKER! Anybody like to give a little input on this shit?
>>
>>39379085
I'm not really familiar with this, but I'll chip my two cents. Wrangling and Concealment, definitely. Yetis and Drill-pods are more central to our theme.
>>
>>39379085
Oh yeah, I forgot to add, Intimidate is also an option for the whole fear factor.
>>
>>39379085
Latter option. We've got good astartes willpower, but we do fall to the red thirst. There are some seriously uptight Chapters out there who do stuff with sheer force of will, and don't even do our cold-and-art-creation stuff we do for distraction.
Plus, concealment works well for the "Ice Wraith in the snowstorm" deal. And the ambushes we love. And somewhat into traps.
We like concealing shit it would seem.
>>
>>39379181
WE MAY HAVE OR HAVE NOT RAN INTO BLOOD RAVENS AT SOME POINT.
>>
>>39379085
Alright, I think we've got that settled. An Ice Wraiths Marine would have highly skilled Solo Ability for Wrangling and Concealment because we will fuck your shit up by bringing our goddamn yetis out of nowhere. Now for our Squad Mode Attack Pattern we use, the most prominent candidates are Tactical Finesse or Storm of Hell. Tactical Finesse lets our lovely band of space marines get in some choice shots and then let them move, giving the option of fading away or moving around the battlefield in some interesting ways. This'd work with some of our whole snow camouflage and ambush tactics. Storm of Hell lets us get everyone in the kill team all fired up and angry, lots of barely controlled rage ready to rip and tear, that kind of shit. This works with the shit we have regarding Wendigos and some of the chapter supporting this violent shit to a degree.

Your thoughts guys?
>>
>>39378980
On the day that I get a GW starter set for this, I'll paint the miniatures like the Ice Wraiths and use them with the 1p40k
>>
>>39379299
That's pretty awesome.
>>
>>39379271
Seriously? Storm of Hell. Imagine a thousand Marines charging at you with fucking Yetis roaring like no tomorrow, and their batshit brothers are behind you killing and maiming like a man with no bubblegum. Alternatively, you should pick Tactical Finesse if you wanna play them as ice ninjas with cybernetic yetis that fades at a moment's notice.
>>
>>39379340
Well okay then. Let's go with Storm of hell in this case. When it comes to defensive stances, the only real choice has gotta be Only In Death, where our marines don't let grievous injuries stop them because fuck those heretics and xenos, we got ice in our veins and shit. That brings us to Specialty restrictions. Should there be a specific kind of Marine we can't field, like Apothecaries, Assault Marines, Devastators, Librarians or Techmarines?
>>
>>39379236
Fuck. What did they steal from us??
>>
Rolled 1 (1d10)

>>39379236
"Sergeant! A fire-team from our brothers, the Blood Ravens are coming to join us for the final push! Any orders?"
>"Hide. Everything. Then freeze it, then hide the frozen things."

>>39379271
I don't know. I really don't. Blood on the Ice, man. We're frozen rage. Both work.
Let's do this the old fashioned way, 5 and under is Storm, 6 and over is Finesse.
>>
>>39379408
Devastators. I don't think that it is in their heart to field a machine-gun wielding guy when they can have a yeti and an assault marine that can get in close and fuck their shit.
>>
>>39379408
I would think tactical finesse for regular marines because it fits our "silent ambush/ice cold motherfuckers" theme and then a wendigo would have storm of wrath cause duh
>>
>>39379408
Apothecaries have to be there, they monitor wendigos and do the flash freeze stasis.
Librarians are awesome. Rune shit? Yes.
Assault? That's like, our main plan in open battles once we blow our cover.
Techmarin- WHAT PART OF SCIONS OF MARS IS THERE TO NOT UNDERSTAND

I guess Devastators are the only thing that's good to drop then. We have large mounts to take up the slack for heavy weapons anyway.
>>
>>39379440
We need to do it the classic way. We need to roll twice, sum them, divide by two.... AND ROUND UP. Quick, someone make the second roll.
>>
>>39379471
So.. Start off as Finesse, but if the marine succumbs to the Red Thirst mid-campaign, they trade it in?
That could work.
>>
>>39379488
This guy gets me. I mean refer to my post >>39379450. Didn't you guys say they love to get in close? Well drop the fags that keep using those glorified machine-guns and give them fucking bolt-pistols and a power knife/sword/anything.
>>
>>39379408
All right you beautiful bastards, I get the message. Let's do this all refined and shit. Some Ice Wraiths are all about the frozen rage, and the others are all about the snow ambush shit, so I say that anyone rolling up an Ice Wraith gets to pick which they have as their offensive pattern based on that. Also, by popular vote we won't be fielding any devastators because fuck heavy weapons, we have yetis. The next part is our special equipment. You know what this means.
>>
>>39379577
It means we are almost fucking done because we've done that shit before.
>>
>>39379577
I'll be sleeping now anons. It's 10PM here in the Philippines. We all know what to do: Volkite Weapons mounted on Yetis, or tons of power fists.
>>
>>39379616
Yep, Yetis and all that shit. What we haven't done is Chapter Advancement shit. We got 10 options.

Strength Of Arms, Death From Afar, Knowledge of Power, Command Without Doubt, Behold Our Wrath, Secret Lore, No Respite To The Enemy, Honored Wargear, Demon Bane, and Xenos Bane.
>>
>>39379655
Still me guys, to give you a little info beyond their names, our best bets are likely Honored Wargear for its concealment and exotic wargear proficiency shit, And Behold Our Wrath because it lets us fuck shit up and make our enemy piss their pants while we ignore their puny attacks. Thoughts, Comrades?
>>
>>39379655

>>39379678

>>39379678
Alright guys, do we go the extra mile and drop the Devastators, or do we keep them in? And again, Honored Wargear, or Behold Our Wrath?
>>
>>39379845
Keep'em I guess. We just rarely deploy them. So when Brother Samonovich mentions that he actually does have heavy weapons training because he had free weekends a couple years back everyone else pauses and thinks "Oh yeah... We have those in the armoury."
Devastatorsjust don't fit the typical Wraith fighting style. But when hpthe battlefield is just a giant line of 'nice and you're fighting alongside the IG, they're broken out and the manuals surreptitiously read for a quick recap.
>>
>>39379907
So keep the Devastators, got it. Really the only thing left before we are able to roll up an Ice Wraiths Marine in Deathwatch is our Chapter Advancement.
>>
>>39379907
So our tactics
Drop down Drop Pads filled with yetis
Charge at the enemy killing every fucker around
Hide in the snowstorm and attack when enemy is vulnerable
Something less,something more?
>>
>>39380121
We do all of that shit. First we send in the Wendigos to demoralize the enemy forces, then we send in our hidden snow forces while the Wendigos are hard at work. The Drill Pods would be released at around this time a little farther from the enemy base, and drill into the ground, filled with marines and yetis. The drill pods approach the enemy, and when the snow attack team spots weakness, they begin the attack. The enemy, already demoralized by the bitter cold and the horror of the Wendigos covert operations, are suddenly disorientated as the snow team charges, firing their bolters, some with cold fury, others with ferocious cries. Large drill pods burst through the ground around the enemy as they struggle to return fire. And then, as the drill pod teams exit their pods, everybody fucking CHARGES.
>>
>>39380121
Terror tactics. We have stealth-suit cannibal berserkers in stasis for reasons.
Plus we like to do creepy chanting in native tongue that pumps up the marines and makes the enemy scared of spooky ghoasts.
And... traps. Mostly been in their fortress and tunnels so far, but space-bear-traps work on everything.

Hasn't been discussed before, but I'll bet Wraiths like putting up frozen enemies like the creepiest statues near enemy camps so their scouts bring back stories.
>>
>>39380236
Well not only do we already do ice carving with chainswords on the side, but we also hum our Battle Hymn Acapella. So yeah, we're pretty good at terrorizing foes.
>>

Nw&bw(33...terestingly. the Ice Wraith Chapter does indeed maintain a well-drilled number of Devastator-trained marines as outlined within the Codex Astartes. The rumour that the Chapter had discarded such tactics and machinery appears to stem from the standard operating procedure of the Ice Wraiths.
A mixture of sudden ambushes, demoralising the enemy with "Wendigo" berserkers and short, brutal, close range engagements with either low visibility or enclosed spaces does not lend itself to the noble Brother striding forth, lascannon in hand. The rumour can however be easily disproven by looking at the Siege of Parad677%%++dw
>Data string corrupted. Resuming Decrypted feed from next uncorrupted data string
...ide a battalion of the Imperial Guard were an Ice Wraiths half-Company. Ship records show the vessel transporting the marines were forced to leave the Warp unexpectedly for repairs and maintenance incurred when they received the planet's transmissions. While the battles between Imperial forces and the Ork horde are well documented and do not need to be recounted here, during the battle it was noted that the marine's transport did not possess the Cryoclimate Devices used to manipulate the battlefield to allow the standard Ice Wraith doctrine.
What followed was a near textbook demonstration of the Codex's effectiveness against xeno forces, with the use of Assault marines to lure or force targets of interest, largely the "Nob" orks, into the destructive path of the Devastator weaponry where they were quickly dispatched and shattering the leadership of the horde, allowing the Imperial Guard to act as the Emperor's Hammer as the Ice Wraiths had acted as His Lance. As a point of interest for readers, the Ork Warboss's Power Claws from the battle are now held in the Ice Wraith's Hall of Relics.
>>
>>39380575
Huh. Very nicely worded and thought out. Kudos.
>>
>>39380575
THIS IS NICE.

ALSO I AM SEEING PEOPLE SAYING THAT WE HAVE NO REASON TO HAVE DEVASTATORS BECAUSE SMALL SPACES.

BRUH.

TWO THINGS I DON'T WANNA SEE IN A SMALL CORRIDOR:

CRAZY MAN WITH POWER CLAWS RUNNING AT ME.

CRAZY MAN WITH A GUN THAT'S BIG AS ME SHOOTING AT ME FROM THE OTHER END OF CORRIDOR.
>>
>>39380761
Also we do battle on large frozen wastes in addition to close spaces. So what do you think, OP? Did we do good enough with your original set of rolls?
>>
>>39380689
I imagined that the Wraiths don't have many heavy cryo weapons, because if things have changed enough to necessitate breaking out the big guns, they've probably also changed enough that they may well need melta and las weaponry.
It just didn't feel appropriate to mention in that post.

They still have heavy Cryocannons mind you. Just not very many.

>>39380761
You try deploying quickly in that corridor with a goddamn depleted uranium tipped minirocket filled backpack and monstrosity of engineering in your hands, and then NOT hitting your buddies who are 'zerking it up in melee.
You get one or the other at any one time.
>>
>>39380804
YOU SEE SASHA.

WE USE BUDDIES TO GIFF US TIME TO SET.

THEN BUDDIES GO TO OTHER CORRIDOR.

THEN WE SHOOTY TOTTY THE ENEMY.

BESIDES, IF WE'RE FIGHTING IN THE FORTRESS, I CAN ONLY GUESS THAT PEOPLE WOULD SET UP BEFORE THE THREAT ITSELF CAME INTO RANGE.
>>
>>39380804
Right you deploy one or the other. Both simultaneously would be stupid. The point is we still have both just in case but we prefer one.

I propose that devastators are irregular forces, that, when needed, a tactical squad is outfitted with heavy weapons suiting the mission but returns to their role as a tactical unit after the need is met.

Essentially we have no "official" devastator units, they're all tactical squads, but they have the training to fulfill the role if we need it
>>
>>39380100
So considering no one answered whether Honored Wargear or Behold Our Wrath should be our advancement, I humbly declare that we should use Honored Wargear for the chapter's use of exotic weaponry. Now we just need to put all this on the page, and we have all the stuff for playing an Ice Wraiths Marine in Deathwatch.

>>
>>39381596
I'm pretty sure we claimed Nixarteria after our initial tussles with the Orks, considering we were founded for some good old crusading. Maybe we actually had a different name beforehand, like some Chapters? I dunno. But yeah, making a sector out of this is a sweet idea.
>>
>>39381606
Man, there's always some SoBs involved somehow. Are they a standard for this kind of stuff?
>>
>>39381606
But we already Sons of Bitches

in all seriousness though, we don't need an SoB group to tag with us. It would just cause too much bloat and there is no reason for them on our planet.
>>
>>39381616
That is correct. Nixarteria was the final planet we conquered after nearly 1000 years crusading. Lord Marshal Riddick I fell on nixarteria and it's where we discovered how much we liked the cold. It was gifted to us shortly thereafter as out home planet
>>
>>39381616
I did a little writefagging somewhere that said the name Ice Wraith came from the snowstorm stepping strategy, with the feral worlders regarding the marines as actual Ice Wraith spirits. Since it translated it Gothic well, and they'd settled down on an ice planet... well why the fuck not?

Wonder what they were called before. Could make something up, but probably best to leave it blank in case we come up with something meaningful.
>>
>>39381654
>>39381664
Well that's confirmed at least. The chapter was probably quite different before the integration of Nixarteria and the renaming. We should probably flesh that out sometime.
>>
>>39381616
Our ambush and stealth tactics were there from the Beginning. The first Lord Marshal Riddick was a former 10th company captain of the Blood Angels and those were his teachings. We simply adapted to Nixarteria and the cold after being given the planet and finding the cryothium STC fragment on it
>>
>>39381628
>>39381644

Fuck it, Nixarteria has two moons worth speaking of. One big one, one little'un. There's an AdMech base on the big one that shits cryothium everywhere.
Magos Fry tinkers as much as an AdMech can tinker, then uses us for live fire testing.
"Goooooood evening good evening good evenING, and welcome to my moon base. I've got something rather lovely to show you tonight. This is a device made to freeze... you all with me? To freeze a spike of promethium, then shoot it forward to your target. Inside is a teeny weeny little sparker, that tries to ignite the promethium oh.. a second or so after being fired. Sooner or later, it should just go.. WHOOMPH and there's just a crispy crater where the spike went in.
Thought you might like to give it a try next time you go out er... Astart-ing"

>>39381874
Oooh, so.. yes. Idea the second. The planet WAS made to be generic Terran clone, but an ancient chemical factory made a whoopsy with advanced technology and buggered the climate up... CAUSING the citizens to go feral!
>>
>>39381921
I could go for that.
>Guys, I think Captcha is now aware that its on 4chan
I got those pictures before, and dogs, Gunie pigs too. Captcha is Chaotic. I saw one Anon get "chaotic nihilism" for his captcha. Think about that.
>>
>>39381954
OP must be so proud of us for this.
>>
>>39381931
I'm okay with that.
>>
>>39381976
This must be included. It's too genius to not be.
>>
we have anything specific on the arbites yet? ctrl+f didnt bring up anything in the archived threads. what about a mix between eastern orthodox missionaries and kgb?
>>
>>39382080
No, we haven't fleshed out the arbites. Just some vague details on how they're the commissioner gordon to our batman. Your idea sounds promising.
>>
>>39382080
I like this
>>
>>39382080
It's a little hard to mix Judge Dredd with a tribal world with a secret fortress of space vampires. He needs a hive world THE LAWR to work in the first place.

...there aren't feral world arbites are there? Black-clad warriors slaying those who slew outside of war or honor duels with sword and stubber?

WEARETHELEAWKKHJRJHHR
>>
>>39379762
I think we'd field them up close and personal, MISSILES TO THE FACE

Or we'd sit back and snipe, afterall, we're not only RIP AND TEAR, we're also stone cold motherfuckers.
>>
>>39382134
Well the Arbites would be working across the sector, and we probably jet around the place with them to provides some Space Marine talent.
>>
>>39382161
I like this one. We directly rule our world so that should extent to policing it as well. The arbites operate in the hives on other planets and enjoy frequent marine support and good relations
>>
>>39382151
Huh.. maybe that's our Scout's tactic. Settle down and just torment a group with sniper fire and traps if they can't kill outright.
After three days of hunched shoulders and checking for mines in your stew, you're ready to go home and forget about the whole cultist thing.
>>
>>39382208
Right, ambush and precision executions. Pretty obviously suited to us
>>
>>39382200
This little buddy-buddy relationship would probably be a great help to our end as well.
>>
>>39382251
Calling upon trained auxilia in times of need, and a larger pool of recruits (if someone performs an extraordinary fear of heroism)
>>
>>39382267
This should also get us access to Arbites Prisoners as well, possibly a good source of hunting training or trap testing.
>>
>>39381451
Forgeworld Tindalos, too!

Can you imagine the Skitarii?
>>
When are we doing new thread?
>>
>>39382412
When this one dies. We're at bump limit but only on page 7 so far. Wait till we reach page 9 or 10 maybe
>>
>>39382442
So right now in terms of fleshing out we've got the Admech base with Magos Fry on it, and the Arbites we're all buddy-buddy with. What next?
>>
>>39382134
what about this

Cut off from the Imperium and surrounded by greenskins, the lords of Nixarteria put away their petty squabbles and came together to create the Order of the Frost, a mix of a primitive inquisition and a holy order. An elite core are wandering, zealous, incredibly charismatic and skilled warriors tasked with spreading the emperor's light through the cold mists of the planet (reminding inbred mayors to pay their taxes). This is the part that most are allowed to know exists, even if it's in the form of bawdy folktales around inn fires that nobody ever really believes. The big deal is a large but spread-out group of off the record, fanatical monks who have weaseled their way into seemingly innocuous positions in life, always listening, waiting, and quietly pinning down those who's opinions of their lifesworn lords aren't high enough.

People stopped complaining about the food shortages once the loudest of the bunch disappeared in the dead of night, never to be seen or heard from again, presumably devoured alive by the wendigos for their arrogance.
>>
>>39382503
It sounds good except for 3 things
1) as an Astarte homeworld the planet is exempt from taxes and tithes
2) the chapter rules the world directly
3) the whole planet is nomads
>>
>>39382556
aight. the tax comment was meant as more of a joke than anything, about their role before the liberation if you really want me to go full damage control
>>
>>39382593
actually now that i think about it the astartes themselves already fit the role of badass vagabond, lets cut the elite core and keep it to a super secret club
>>
Huh. We seem to be losing some steam here.
>>
>>39382995
just let 'er die and then we can pick up again later
>>
>>39383026
Shouldn't we start a new thread and all that jazz?
>>
>>39383039
If we're losing steam on this one then anons are probably busy with other stuff right now, I know i am personally. Everyone knows how to use the catalog right? So we get another thread up later where it wont just fall back to page 8 or 9 again rapidly
>>
>>39383039
Thread is also already archived
