As we climb unto the harpies nest, they scatter, yet quickly forget about us once we hide. On their nest, we found all sorts of junk they have been stealing off the nearby area, albeit we don't see anything particularly valuable.

After a while, they seem to forget about us and begin coming back.

After dying during a plane crash, a 29 years old chemical engineer and fellow fa/tg/uy was reborn with his memories in the world he always dreamt of, a world of swords and sorcery, where the laws of existence run on old RPG logics.

Now aged 14, Eldric Lightbringer is investigating the regular, if minor, theft plague affecting the orc towns in the south of the Stonewall Mountain Range.

I know right, for like a 11-12 yrs old Mako, I think she's great. I wonder how the author decided which deities to use for what, but he probably just went "aww goddess of virginity, that's so moe!" or something like that.

Why is Hephaestus a female if there ARE male gods (according to the manga anyway). tho? I would ask about Loki but... it's Loki. Let's be grateful it's not a horse, I guess

After a while, a rope stair suddenly falls down unto the nest from the top of the cliff, and the harpies flock together towards its base, excitedly.

A halfling climbs down, and greets the winged girls with pats and scratchings, then goes about checking that day's "loot".

The harpies have gathered a large pile of things, some of it valuable, but most of it is just junk. They must have taken things from places other than stores, definitively.

There's a wide array of fruit, some rare and expensive-looking crystals, a few weapons. many tools that look like the sort of thing you would spot laying about in any garden, and finally a plain looking gold ring.

"Alright, give me the ring" -says the halfling woman
"But it's mah precious" -says the young harpy
"I'll give you a tummy scratching and cook you a meal"
"Alright!" -the harpy hands over the simple gold ring

"Most of it is junk, but...." -the halfling looks over the stuff, and stpres away anything valuable into her item box

You know, I used to complain about how slow the guys TLing overlord are going with it, but I finally decided to start doing it myself and its a pain in the ass. The author its SO repetitive, as if he was trying his hardest to make the text as long as possible, in pointless manners.

For example: "In the region former by the mountain range, there was a lake, a mass of water surrounded by land on all sides. This lake, which was right next to the mountains, was quite large, and while deep at one end, it was shallow towards the south shore. Since it was on the north of the region, everything else was to its south, and it was the norhern lake for that region"

Its not like it is HARD, but I found myself having to rewrite shit a lot and finally dropped it. It really takes a saint's patience

>>39383638

The halfling woman pats the harpies and takes out several things from her item box, including a large grill and seome large meat steaks.

Soon, the scent of grilled meat fills the area, and the harpies make a group as they wait at a respectful distance (A few of them have burnt marks, but perhaps they have all gotten burnt at one point or the other).

The woman starts handing them kebab sticks with meat and veggies as she praises them for being good and getting shiny stuff for her. She also tells them that she will need a lot more shiny stuff to be able to get more meat for them, and subtly (for a harpy) gets them excited about nabbing more things for her.

Finally, she uses a magic tool to have the harpies disappear. It looks like a snake coiled around a mirror, which she points towards the harpies for a moment before they turn invisible.

"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow!" -declares the halfling and starts picking things up to leave

The halfling climbs back up the rope stairs, and leaves. In a hurry, we try out best to climb behind her, with Brass easily carrying Aritsu on his back.

"D-do we have time for a rope?" -asks Mako softly
"No, please hug me tightly, Mako"
"Wh- wh- wh-...!"

Eldric makes sure Mako is clinging from him, and climbs up with his friends.

"That wasn't so bad, right?" -says Eldric as he helps Mako stand on her own
"A-a-a-ah!" -the little princess is starting to throw fumes out of her ears after clinging that closely to Eldric for a bit.

He calms her down in the best possible way, then looks around for the halfling.

You can just barely spot the halfling as she heads west, and quickly catch up to her.

Of course, you have Aritsu, Brass, Lyann, Mako and Python on your side, so a single halfling its not going to be a problem.

Quickly enough, the halfling heads down the cliff through a side path, and heads into a nearby orc town.

She greets the guards casually, and, while they give her a few odd looks, she goes in without any problem.

This place is a bit larger than the last town, and the halfling makes her way towards the markets, and then into a side street, where you can see various houses and, at the end of the street, a pawn shop.

Well, the halfling goes into the pawn shop, and trades anything valuable for local coins. She seems to have gotten about 50 golds or so for the lot, then headed back out and went towards a meat market.

"I guess she is buying more meat for the harpies?" -asks Python
"There have to be better ways to make money with a flock of flying monsters at your beck and call" -says Aritsu

She purchases quite a bit of cheap meat with a couple of silver coins, and then heads to what seems to be her own home, a rather nice house of stone and wood, in what looks like quite the nice neighborhood, for an orc town.

The house looks in very good state, with bars in the windows and good, fine furniture and other objects inside. Looks like she is keeping the best bits of the loot for herself, or perhaps she has just bought this stuff with the money from it.

Having confirmed that the halfling is pulling the harpies strings to make them steal for her in exchange for food, the group goes back to the first town and contact the guards.

As it turns out, the town guard is more of a town militia. They don't have a corp of guards as such, and instead lead you to their elders.

The orc elders thank you for the information. They want to send the guards to clear the harpy nest and capture the halfling.

It takes a bit of convincing, but since you want to capture the harpies and add them to your menagerie, they seem satisfied with just that after a bit.

The next day, the guards and you are waiting on top of the cliff when the halfling comes by like before. She does not spot you, but she does notice the guards and tries to escape, while calling for help, which of course gets the harpies involved.

that plan works
>>
>>39386972

Thankfully, since the level difference between our group and everyone else here is so high, we win initiative easily.

The harpies are confused as Lyann starts dancing, and suddenly they begin moving exceedingly slow through the air.

To be honest, it confuses us a little as well, but this world's rules are like that, and apparently "5ft movement max while slowed" is the same on flying creatures as it is on land-bound opponents.

It may be interesting to try it out on a falling target as a cheaper alternative to the featherfall rings we are using on the rockit ships at the moment. More "useful curses", indeed.

Brass has little problem catching up to the fleeing woman, and while the harpies instantly switch objectives to try and help her, watching them try desperately, just to barely move a few feet after all their efforts, its just strange.

"Wait, there's no need to hurt them!" -Aritsu tries to calm down the guards before they have time to even draw their weapons.

"Hey, you better tell those girls to calm down. There really is no way this would end good for you or them if they keep trying to fight" -says Python to the halfling as she dangles from Brass' fist.

"Don't hurt mommy!" -the harpies are desperately trying to catch up to their 'mom'

It feels so wrong to hit children, but we need to lower their hp before they can be caught so there's not much choice on the matter.

Slowed, Dazed and otherwise debuffed, they barely manage to cry out before we gently whack them on the head and add them to our menagerie.

"Aww, my food ticket" -whines the halfling as you catch the last of the winged children
"I wouldn't worry if I were you. Public slaves tend to eat once a day" -comments Lyann

That's right, slavery is the most common punishment, making criminals pay with hard work instead of stuffing them inside jails.

"Noooo!" -the halfling cries out loud as the orc guards tie her up

A few hours later, you are meeting with the elders of the orc town once again. They thank you for your work, and gift you a simple wooden charm for your troubles.

Looking at it with the ring, it means you are a friend of the tribe, and will receive preferential deals with the local shop owners.

Depends on the species of wasp. They don't eat the same things, so they generally don't compete with each other.
