Hello and welcome once again to Drozen and the Minotaur Civilization Quest! Last time, we expanded outwards towards the coast, couldn't understand the concept of fishing for the lives of several small children, and made contact with the deep ones! Who then promptly ate several children. With this, the king, Brakla, decides to map out his territory and it's surrounding lands. After a day, the map is complete!

>>39450096
>A1: Gorric
>37: Failure!
The recent peace, while leaving people at ease, does not get rid of old memories. The elders still speak of the white beings, and some of the more, aggressive, tauren believe that the Deep Ones are trying to trick the people into wandering out into the wilds. Little to no progress is made.
>A2: Scout
>65+10=75: Above average success!
People have reported abandoned camps around the villages, and they look to be recent. Brakla orders several more parties out to try and find them. Soon, after a day or two of searching, a small encampment is found with snow elves in it!
>Snow elf camp found to the south of Gorric!
>A3: Roads
>79: Above average success!
Despite the clear markings in the snow, as well as the hard stone paths, people still tend to get lost while traveling between the villages. The idea of some sort of lighting system comes up, and soon small torches are placed periodically along the path!
>Streetlamps invented!
>In their current form, they are essentially long poles lit on fire.
>A4: Rafting
>27: Below average failure!
The ice floes near Gorric pique the curiosity of the local populace, and soon some militia are recruited to go and investigate them. However, the tides seem intent on making sure they go nowhere near them, and they stay within spitting distance of the beach.
>A5: Harbor
>90: Amazing success!
With the advent of rafts, many carpenters begin to think
>"Hm, it takes forever to make one of these, and then you need to drag it down to the beach to see if the thing floats. Couldn't we just make them at the beach?"
Soon, carpenters begin to work on rafts exclusively at the beach, and much is learned on how to properly make one!
>+5 to any raft/boat roll in the future!

This is good! We can take these failures

>A6: Heroes
>4: Anon, prepare to see how we handle these rolls.
A young tauren gets it in his mind to go on some kind of magical adventure on the high seas. With her human "boyfriend" if you could call him that, she steals a raft being constructed, intent on proving herself to her family. The raft was nowhere near complete and they drowned soon after leaving the harbor. The only reason we know this is we found their bodies, chewed up by, unworldly teeth...

>R1: Rafts
>25: Below average failure!
The recent tragedy surrounding the rafts, despite efforts to move on, slow any progress that could be made on them.

>R2: Pike
>8: Three children in one post. You people worry me.
The fishing spears your people have, while effective, are a bit, small. As in, they were made with human hands in mind. Soon, a carpenter's apprentice attempts to make a Minotaur sized equivalent. When he goes to test it out, not only does it snap in half, but it impales him right through the chest. His blood pours out onto the white sand, and soon he is no more.

>R3: Sleep wood
>63: Success!
The Sleepers think back to the past, how the Awaken were created by strapping sleep to wood.

>"What would happen if we infused wood with Sleep?"

Despite issues making it work, the carpenters manage to mix wood with Sleep. Upon testing, it's found to glow quite brightly, as well as acting as a small heat source! Unlike fire however, it appears to never go out.
>>
I'm trying to understand how to roll, but if I figure it out I'll try to make a specific warrior who is very quick and uses a spear. And I'd also like to start a cult, if possible.

>A1: Warrior
>95: Amazing success!
Of the many humans residing in Gorric, few show as much potential as those who join the militia. They know full well how they have to keep up with the much more physically imposing tauren. Soon, a skilled woman rises in the ranks. Her spear is as a fast as an Electromancer's bolt, and she can drink almost anyone under the table. Nobody knows her true name, so she just goes by Catherine.

>A2: Cult
>44: Average!
>I'm just warning you, this is a very bad idea.
It appears that some of the humans have developed a sort of, love, if you could call it that, for the snow elves. They see them as divine creatures, sent to uplift them from the dirt. The group remains small, and few tauren even bother with it.

>A3: Expansion
>97: Amazing success!
Despite the recent mishaps involving children, spears, and rafts, people are oddly optimistic! A surge of curiosity and desire for new land explodes in Gorric, and soon village expands deeper into the tall Evergreen forests surrounding it. A proper dock is even set up!
>+20 to all population growth in Gorric!

>A4: Awaken
>17: Complete failure!
The Awaken again express a desire for new faces to meet, and a tooth is soon brought to set up a new Awaken growth in Gorric. However, the loose rock and sand doesn't take kindly to the Awaken, and the only creature to vaguely resemble an Awaken soon expires after forming.

>A5: Island
>17: Complete failure!
With the new dock in place, another round of explorers get the idea to try and see what exactly is on those ice floes. Unfortunately, you still lack a method of actually moving in the water.

>A6: Deep Ones
>67: Success!
Brakla begins to set up a small area in Gorric, an embassy if you will. Here he speaks to the Deep Ones whenever they bother to come up. Though no real trade deals or agreements are made, it is generally understood that the two sides respect each other.

>R1: Clothing
>51: Average!
Though Tauren have been able to brave the cold of the wastes since they first came here with little more than pelts on their back, the humans are not so lucky. Distinctly lacking hair everywhere but the head and groin, they wear padded material which, up to this point, had mostly been strung together pelts similar to yours. Soon however, you begin to see very odd clothing on them. It appears to be very, well, thick. With a small, furred hood to go over their head, they claim this protects them from the cold far better than pelts. So far, only humans wear them.
>Parkas invented!

>R2: Pikes
>90: Amazing success!
Catherine, wandering about one morning, slightly hungover, a carpenter friend of hers.
>"Oi, would ya happ'n to know how you make a tauren sized spear? I got som' ideas, but I ain't exac'ly the most skilled with a knife."
After taking a moment to decipher her slightly slurred speech, he speaks with her on how to properly make one for a tauren. Soon, they meet with the local blacksmith, and a few hours later come out with a long wooden pole with a bladed Highland Steel point at the end!
>Pikes invented!
>These provide a long reach alternative for mid ranged combat
>R3: Paper
>10: Death by papercut
The idea of using something to write on besides stone has come up multiple times in your past, though only recently has it gained any traction. An apprentice, working away at a hunk of wood, decides to try and make some kind of light-weight material to write on. He doesn't succeed, but while moving to dispose of it, he trips and cuts his throat open with the material.

Bullshit, man. We're supposed to be minotaurs. We once were a primal, warrior-oriented civilization. Now we're making friends with everything we come across. The heretics should have to face trial by combat, as per the Old Ways.

Even more bullshit that we're researching drugs instead of better ships, or weapons, or magic. What have we let ourselves become?

Next turn, I call for a major reformation of society to return to the Old Ways, and we need to get this war on the road. Let's not forget who we are.

Though the long raft is a decent idea, the time it takes to create one is far from practical. Soon the carpenters set to work on making a boat that is both stable enough to carry several tauren, but light enough to still float. They come home several days later with great news. They've made it!
>Longboats invented!

The Geomancers see how the previous army that attacked them had a bloody massive Awaken with them.
