In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there is only war. Imperium of Man, once strong and proud, now is slowly crumbling, whole regions of space are lost to the horrors that lurk in the darkness of the void. Sector Deus is just one of the thousands of Imperial provinces that form the front line in the war to defend Humanity itself. Corruption from within and aggression from without threaten it. But the Emperor sends us hope. High Lords of Terra commissioned a Chapter of Adeptus Astartes, finest warriors Humanity has ever seen, to defend this region of space. They are the last line of defence that hold Age of Ruin at bay. They are the Ghosts of Retribution and this is their tale.

>>39471670Ave, brother. I am afraid Chapter creation labs are down the corridor C22, this sector is dedicated to the operations of Ghosts of Retribution, which have been operating for decades. However you are welcome to join if you are not afraid of the darkness and eager to serve the Emperor. How shall we call you?+++Meanwhile, somewhere on the planet of Artoria, Chapter Master is standing over the body of his bleeding brother, Renard. Wound inflicted by Traitor was bad, but it seems that he'll live long enough for Chapter Apothecaries to save him. Sulix puts his hand on your shoulder:>Milord, enemies are still at large. Shall we enter the temple again?Down below you is a complex of tunnels, built by the Traitors and their foul cultist companions who worship the Rotting God, Grandfather Nurgle. Your first attempt to enter almost ended in the death of your bodyguard, how shall you proceed this time?+++Give instructions and roll d100. Temple tunnels are wide enough for 2 Space Marines or 1 Terminator to enter. At your disposal:10 Sternguard Veterans5 Terminators10 Battle Brothers4 Predator Tanks
>>39471928I want a terminator at the front with a heavy flamer and a boarding shield. If we have no boarding shields grab a piece of masonry or something.Couple more terminators behind him, then CM, Sulix and Sternguard along with an Apothecary in the middle.Y/N?
Also:Construct Level 2 Gold Mine on Varda = 150w. 2d3 yrs build time.Upgrade fuel mine to level 2 = 75w. d3 yrsConstruct Refinery = 200w, d5+1 build timeTotal cost = 425w, and whichever is longest of d3, 2d3 and d5+1 rolls in build time. Can we use that ~120w worth of construction materials that were on the transport from battlefleet paxia to reduce the cost? When constructed these will give us a cybernetics industry worth 75+3d10 wealth per year.Gift the human-sized Deimos Predator we bought off Kerr to Nestorium. At the same time request techpriests to provide the expertise we need to make the cybernetics, and also ask if they want to be the ones to buy the cybernetics.
>>39471995dont forget to cast Visions before each corner, tunnel or closed door, dont want jumpscare creppy pasta to rend us apart.
>>39472122No more psy powers, they fucked us over last session. Something to do with the taint around here.
>>39472122yes, it's been an entire 10 minutes of quest-time since our last perils of the warp. I'm getting jittery and need my fix.
They get sexually assaulted by Noise Marines. The end.
>>39471995>>39472122>>39472143Brother Daveron, wearing Terminator Armour, volunteers to enter first. Please roll d100 for his combat reflexes and d100 for his luck>>39472092Let's leave this to the side for today as I'll need to have one final look at all those mechanics before confirming.>>39472169Please roll d100, it's a secret roll for the fix.

His other hand aims a Heavy Flamer at the darkness...+++Rolling d100 for enemies
>>39472224Don't tell me what to do.
>>39472186Noise marines were too loud, ceiling crashed onto them, giving them a final delightful and completly unexpected sensation, before our intrepid heroes could be ravaged.
>>39472343Im not telling you what to do, what I AM doing is opening a portal behind your heretical ass and buggering you with a psycannon. So kiss your ass goodbye, turn around and prepare to devote some of your time to your lord and saviour, The Big E.
>>39472313I rolled a 23.

>>39472555it has more then regular armor
>>39472255>>39472285>>39472313Daveron is a seasoned veteran, he earned his right to wear Terminator Armour on the battlefields of Mormark and Varda... He entered the tunnels armed with a contruction beam and a flamer, prepared for anything. The first few corridors were quiet, then Daveron entered a big circular room. Suddenly, his auspex came to life, indicating 14 lifeforms at 11 o'clock, approaching rapidly in a swarm. >Nurglings...Daveron had never met these fiends in battle, but his battle drills trained him to expect such enemies when faced with followers of Nurgle. Those small rotting creatures rolled out from one of the side tunnels and charged at Daveron, but he unleashed a wall of flame on them. His brothers, also wearing Terminator armour, Hakon and Fengast, entered the fray at his sides. They were real blood-brothers hailing from Mormark, one of the first recruits Ghosts of Retribution accepted from that world. Still young, but eager to prove themselves, they ripped those few Nurglings that escaped flamer with their precise stormbolter fire.>Enemies eliminated. 3 new tunnels identified. Auspex reports movement on the central tunnel. What are our orders?+++>>39472510>>39472487Please bear in mind that you can roll d100 by inserting words "dice+1d100" without captions in email field.

>>39472707have a grendae ready to welcome anything thats coming trough the central tunnel, and yes to luigi
>>39472707We should have a brother with a flamer ready to purge anything that tries to assault from the tunnels, as well.Could a few battlebrothers move a Tarantula sentry gun or two into the chamber to provide a strong point?
>>39472707Terminators advance down central tunnel with us in tow. Tacticals secure the chamber. We don't need to get ambushed from behind.
>>39472707>>39472747>>39472797Please roll d100 for each party going to explore tunnels, when ready.>>39472770>TarantulasUnfortunately currently Chapter doesn't have these weapon systems in possession and even if it would, you'd have to wait for them to be deployed from the Aspera Dominus in orbit.
Rolled 26 (1d100)>>39472817Rolling for CM and his termies down the central tunnel.Keep the lights on, watch for nurglings in the corners, and utilise natural cover as much as possible in case of more plasma.
>>39472839have somebody look at the room for signs of... anything unusual
>>39472817In case I wasn't clear, our Sternguards DIG IN at that intersection whilst we head towards the movement. That way if any heretics try to escape down the other tunnels they run into 10 veterans raining hellfire and flux core bolts on them.

>>39472924I'm sure Skargan did it on purpose
>>39472986three tunnels, circular chamber...we need to cleanse that shit somehow
As your marines go deeper into the tunnels, you realise that by now you are deep enough to actually reach the level of the dead who were burried here centuries ago after the wars with Xo'nad. The very name of the planet, Artoria, immortalised the name of Lord Commander Artorion, general who once fought for the Saint Belisarius. Battles on planet Krak'tharilla, later renamed after the general who conquered it, were one of the worst, and because of the potential for colonisation Artorion refused to authorise orbital strikes, rather preferring to seize it from the aliens for the benefit of Mankind. As you pass alien and human skulls alike, all mixed in a horrible mass grave, wall on the left side bursts as a Traitor appears waving a power axe. He shrieks and cuts Daveron's steel beam in half with a single blow, disruptive power field slices metal like butter, however that single second of delay is enough for Hakon to open fire at the Traitor, hitting him between the eyes. while first two bolts failed to penetrate enforced ancient power armour, only damaging it, third one entered deep enough to crack weakened adamantium plating and burn out Traitor's brains. His brainless body continued to wave his axe for a few more seconds, but even unnatural vitality of a Nurgle worshiper couldn't sustain a body without a brain. Behind his corpse you notice that the tunnel appears open into a huge hall.Do you continue? Roll d100
Rolled 16 (1d100)>>39473169Okay my turn

>>39473272>>39473244This is for Brother Renard you scum!
Rolled 75 (1d100)Daveron always knew that his duty will one day demand him to face Traitors. He knew they were dangerous enemies, Astartes who have centuries of experience of fighting and whose bodies are enhanced by the dark magics. However he never realised what price they needed to pay for that... As you enter the last hall, first thing you notice is a mutated, twisted chunk of flesh lying in the center of some strange ritual circle. Shards of space marine power armour indicated that this once was a member of the warband, possibly a Chaos Chosen or maybe even a minor Sorcerer, who clearly asked for more gifts from the Nurgle than he could handle. However with his keen eye Daveron observed that there's too little flesh left...At that instant, 4 warp spawns jumped Daveron and his brothers from the shadows. Auspexes remained silent, but Chapter Master's shout warned his brothers before any of the daemonspawn managed to reach them. Flamer and stormbolters made a short work of them and within moments all of them were dead.Your party finds themselves standing in a room that was clearly dug inside a mass grave for some dark ritual. Skulls stare at you from the walls and you get a bad feeling in your guts. Suddenly, you hear screams from the tunnel behind you. What shall you do?
>>39473512Contact the Sternguard over comms.>Brothers, what's happening down there?
>>39473512What sreams? Inhumane? Marine? Deep and gurgling? also the Champion is alive, or we slain him along the warp spawns?
>>39473553Also half the terminators keep guns trained on the nurgle sorcerer thing whilst the others turn to cover the tunnel the screams are coming from?
>>39473512our brothers rolled an 8 for holding the chamber behind us. there better be an explanation for these shennanigans
>>39473605Yes but what screams? Is it them or the things attacking them? or more spawns spawned behind us?
Rolled 84 (1d100)>>39473553>It's Sergeant Varr, we are ok. Just had a Traitor charging at us, we took care of him, it's safe to return.>>39473512>>39472907By the time you reach your Sternguard brothers who were guarding the tunnel you realise, that screams you heard were not theirs, but of the last Chaos Space Marine - a tough looking Plague Marine who now lay dead before the feet of your Sternguard brothers.>We took care of him, he simply roared at us while charging and firing his bolter. No casualties on our side, it seems this complex is cleared.Roll d100 on a Forbidden Lore(Traitors)+10

Back, everyone!Your instincts were correct, but they warned you just a moment too late. Plague Marine exploded with a strength of an anti-tank mine, his bloated belly sending its contents flying everywhere around the chamber, thick corrosive liquid covering those standing closest to the corpse...+Roll d100 to dodge (+10)+Roll 3d100 for brothers Daveron, Hakon and Fengast. Rolled 54 (1d100)>>39473888
>>39473854dont forcefields protect termies?
>>39473898>>39473918As your brothers dodge, most of the corrosive liquid splatters on the walls, eating deep into them, however a big part of it covers Fengast. His Terminator armour starts melting under the corrosive influence of tainted warp-fluid... Terminator armour is too thick to be affected even by something as foul as this, however it will be damaged, possibly forever. Meanwhile the rest of the liquid hit brother Gavin, it melts straight through his eye-slits and other weaker parts of the armour, especially where armour plates connect, such as joints. He screams like a child, babbling something and collapsing in front of you. By the time Neiton arrived, he was almost dead.>He's wounded beyond any value to the Chapter. I can save him to be a blind, deaf, limbless cripple for the rest of his days or possibly I can prepare him to rest in the Dreadnought sarcophagus if that's what you wish. Alternatively there's always Emperor's Mercy. What do you want me to do?[Gavin's power armour is damaged beyond repair. Fengasts Termintor suit might be recovered with (-20) modifer on the roll]
Rolled 29 (1d100)>>39474089Rolling for the terminator armour.
>>39474089Can we tough Gavin's mind and hear his thoughts so we can ask him ourself what he wants? It's not a particularly major power so it shouldn't need a roll or perils right?
>>39474123While it will take months of work for Techmarine Seran, in the end this suit of armour will be recovered.>>39474150Unfortunately you do not have the Telepathy powers and that is impossible unless the being you are communicating with is a telepath himself. Gavin unfortunately doesn't possess this talent and you'll have to decide for him. He's currently stabilised, in coma.
>>39474193If Gavin's body contains no taint of chaos, place him within the standard Dreadnought chassis, with assault cannon and DCCW.
>>39474253Ask surviving ministorium folks on the world to bless Gavin before/after internment?
>>39474253As he did not succumb to the foul taint and has been recovered from a mass grave, he shall henceforth be known as Gavin the Untaken.
>>39474344He shall be recorded into the chapters Ancient Honor Rolls, may his Legacy and second life bring glory to the Chapter and the Emperor, and ruin to our foes.
>>39474253In the name of the Emperor, Corax and the Chapter...Arise, Gavin the Untaken. May your resurrection from the graves of Artoria infuse the spirit of Saint Belisarius' Crusade within your form and the Omnissiah favor the Ghost that fell but was not taken in a grave! You are a Ghost of Retribution, and no grave shall take you!
>>39474253>>39474272>>39474344>>39474414>>39474423And so it shall be done.Gavin the Untaken enters the service to the Chapter. The defence of Artoria ended for the Ghosts of Retribution as an astounding success, never seen before. The evil plans of the Ebon Host were foiled and planet survived the assault with minimal casualties. Not a single loyalist Space Marine perished and no ships were lost in the space battle above the planet.Newly reformed government of Artoria thanked Chapter Master and offered a tribute of 10 Wealth a year for a decade as their show of gratitude. Furthermore, your swift defence of even minor worlds in the Sector attracted the attention of the High Lords of Terra, you gain +1 Favour with them. Even Larion Ursus himself sends you his personal regards and declared in the Capitolis Sectorum that his most faithful vassals have achieved a great victory. As for the remains of the destroyed Heavy Cruiser - there still are signs of life on it, but whether you'll decide to destroy it or salvage the hulk, remains up to you.Session over, next session - new year, end of sternberg's mission, reply from eisenhorn and other interesting stuff.
>>39474546we should recruit some more regular shadow guard , maybe 4-5 promising fighters to promote, maybe a deathwisher or 2 so we have some very willing meat shields?
>>39474596Perhaps we can promote the Void Squad?
>>39474596and Terminator Daveron should get a commendation. nothing fancy but a nice cheap little perk. perhaps his own heraldry to be displayed on his armour or something

All the temples and stuff like we found burned with sanctified promethium, buried and then blessed by priests.Chaos taint is bad mkay. Thanks Skargan!
