Hello and welcome to another, long overdue, episode of Succubus Lord Quest!

Yes, I am alive. No, this is not dead.

Last time on Succubus Lord Quest, we learned the secret of Matriarch Ishtar, in that she’s not an Aide at all but rather a Belkarian pretending to be an Aide, one of the actually deceased Matriarch Ishtar. Demon Queen Janette said that she would not punish her for the crime of pretending to be an influential Aide. Janette said that Ishtar can rule until things at the very least are more quiet than what they currently are. After which we went back to our castle in order to fight off a few challengers who wanted our throne.

That said, it’s been some time since I’ve last done this, so pardon my laspe of memory. I wanted to do this yesterday, but was trying to get myself caught up. In the meantime I wish to apologize for the hiatus and thank those patient enough to read, all three of you.

“Alright...” you say exhaling as you stand in your throne room, panting heavily.

“I enjoy the new Skylight.” Wilhelmina says looking up at the hole in the ceiling your blasted the Orge through.

“Did you really need to to through such lengths of overkill? The repairs are going to be problematic.” Nalika says looking up at the hole.

“You’re the last person to be talking about overkill.” Brodin says as he likewise looks up at the hole in the ceiling.

“If it means he’s beaten and out of my castle, then no! He weighed a ton, so I had to put a lot into that blast! Besides, need to keep the workers productive and happy with their own jobs.” you say as you collapse down onto your throne, making a slight grimace as you do. “And while the workers are here get someone to put padding on this throne! What sort of barbarian doesn’t put padding on their thrones!?”

“I’m surprised you didn’t do it earlier. Even your first bed was so plush it felt like you were flying on a cloud.” Brodin comments.

“Excuse me for liking comfort!” you retort.

“Your sister said she liked sleeping on hard ones.” Brodin then adds.

“Thinly disguised jabs at my fragile masculinity aside, what else do we have to do?” you ask.

“Since we’ve taken over Old TO there are two major things on our agenda. First is investigating the claims that Beck may be conspiring against us because you’re an Okarian and she hates every single Okarian with a blind seething hatred.” Nalika, your secretary Wrath Demon replies. “We also apparently got the location of the Sloth demon who the Pride Demons hired to help start this entire mess between the Okarians and the Miyians, so all we need to do is send a team there to... take care of business.”

“Any preference to the team?” you ask.

“None, although we don’t know what to expect. Much of the details involving the Sloth demon were kept... well not kept at all actually. We have details involving what was sent down there, but nothing about his character or anything of the sort. Same goes for any defenses he has, if any.”

A) Go there yourself
B) Send Amanda, the psychic Ayarian Ranger, to deal/capture with him (Cannot pick with C, need at least one bodyguard)
C) Send down your bodyguard, Wilhelmina, to do deal with it (Cannot pick with B, need at least one bodyguard)

Yeah, she's the better choice for this. Wilhelmina isn't great at the whole stealth thing.
>>

I'd go with B, but give them a time limit before we send reinforcements.
I would also be tempted to bring in some help from outside our circle to provide further credibility to whatever we learn from raiding the Sloth Demon. Extremist Myians will inherently consider any evidence we provide as 'fabricated lies'. So having a thrid party present should placate some of them.

Also, quick question about Excel. Does Brooklyn know that Brodin got Excel Succubutted to prevent her death, or causing Karmic backlash?

“An operation of this sort demands stealth, so I feel the most comfortable sending Erika on this task.” you reply.

“Eh!? Me!?” Erika asks pointing at herself.

“I’m only good at stealth when people are not looking at me.” Wilhelmina replies.

“You’re a natural fit for this! Besides I won’t be sending you alone, we’ve been planning such a thing for some time after all, so you won’t be going in alone.” you reply.

“...Very well, but I admit I am nervous about heading to a place which we know little about.” Erika says.

“In the words of my generation, ‘git gud’.” Brodin replies.

“Don’t worry Erika, we’ll be hard at work as well. In fact we’ve already been talking about support for this mission from other factions.” you reply.

A) Bring Okarians from the Library, including Witches who know about some Superscience technology
B) Bring Laminians from Arum’s spy network, expects in stealth and infiltration
C) Bring Rebecca's Ayarians, Gruellia fighters who specialize in fighting underground and asymmetric warfare.

“Look, we’ve even been in talks with Rebecca about this and she’s all for it. While she remains neutral in the war, the very fact that Pride Demons manipulated two clans against each other enrages her, and she’s willing to send a few of her best commandos to help us on short notice.” you explain.

“Plus if Okarians are not involved in this then we can claim any evidence we find as solid proof, rather than just creations the Okarians or Miyians made to frame the other side.” Nalika then adds.

“Fine I’ll go. Do you have a meeting place in mind with the commandos?” Erika asks.

You hand Erika a small map and address of where Rebecca will send her commandos to and at what time.

“Let’s just hope I can keep up.” Erika says with a sigh.

“You’ve been trained by Sebastien the Spymaster, you will do just fine. Have more faith in yourself.” Wilhelmina says in her dull monotone voice.

“But let’s not leave without having tea break first!” Shiva says rolling a small trolly of tea into the room.

“Naturally!” “But of course!” “What barbarian would.” are murmurs that come out and around the room.

“One lump or two Brooklyn?” Leona gently asks you as she prepares her cup.

“One, I feel the stronger flavor is better on good days for me.” you reply sitting in your chair.

“WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE!?” Another demons roars, burst into your throne room with spears of your personal guard sticking out of his black fured skin. The way he’s build appears to have short black fur all over his body, red eyes seething with rage as his talons are sharper than daggers. “Celebrating with tea while there are still challengers awaiting you!?”

“Do you mind, we’re having tea.” you bluntly reply to the demon. From what you know of this thing they’re a Wrath demon of sorts, fairly well versed in magics involving Death, Spirits, and being very strong and malicious to boot.

“You won’t get the chance to drink it demonic whore! I’m going to wrest control of your throne while you’re at your weakest and take control of Old TO for myself!” The demon roars out pointing at finger at you.

Shiva just sighs as she puts down her own cup, putting a hand on Leona’s shoulder. “Excuse me sir, but you’re hardly one to boast. You’re so weak that even this girl here can dispose of you.”

“Eh? Eh?” Leona asks, being somewhat clueless of this.

“I’m not sure, he pretty strong.” Brodin says looking at the demon himself.

“Want to try him Leona?” you ask her as you sip your tea.

“What!? I can’t take on such a thing!” Leona exclaims. “I-I just started training! I may be lucky but there is a limit!”

You can visibly see a vein in the forehead of the demon throb as Leona says this. “How dare you mock me! Once I kill you all I’m going to enslave each and every one of your souls!”

“Please don’t, it’s more work for me.” Brodin says with a simple sigh.

The demon appears unheeded however as it rushes towards Leona with it’s claw behind it’s head, claws extending to the length of swords themselves. Leona meanwhile continues to stare at the demon like a Deer staring at bright objects.

With a sudden lash of speed one of Leona’s firsts intercepts the claw swipe by hitting the precise spot to safely intercept his first, before Leona’s right fist slugs the demon directly across the face, a sickening crack echoing across the room before the demon is expelled outside the stained class wonders on the right side of the room.

“Aaa....” Leona mutters as she remains still in her pose.

“I’m out.” another challenger in the hall who witnessed the battle says as he turns around and leaves.

“Did you have fun?” Nalika asks Shiva.

“The arrogant ones always are~.” Shiva says sipping her drink.

“Very well, I’ll be on my way then Lady Brooklyn.” Erika says as she places her empty cup back on the table.

“Bring him back alive if possible. A lot of people want to ‘talk’ to him.” you tell Erika as she heads off.

******

“Curses these... signs!” you mutter as you go down into the sewer. You thought it would be a fairly easy place to find, only to realize the minor problem that you can’t really read signs or things on paper. It’s bad enough you’ve been months without your novels, but now trying to navigate in the sewers by signs is just nearly impossible. You really hope that you’re not too late.

Thankfully, you detect the psychic resonances of a few consciousness up ahead. Taking that as your beacon, you start to head towards the life signs.

Just as you’re about to reach it, you’re stopped by a single woman in baggy but casual clothes. “Why did the moth cross the road?”

“He went for the light instead.” you reply with your secret passphrase.

“So you’re the one the Dutchess sent?” the Ayarian says looking over you.

“Yes, dreadfully sorry if I was late. A bit hard to navigate when people use signs in the streets.” you reply.

(“A spoiled rich noble and blind to boot. Dutchess knows how to pick them real well.”) “This way, we’ve already started.” the Ayarian says both mentally and physically.

“I can hear your thoughts.” you reply. “Just because I’m a noble doesn’t mean I’m any less prepared for this than you are.”

“Ohmigawd, and you actually took him back!?” another one with a shortbow says, currently testing it’s bowstring.

“It wasn’t his fault, it was that bitch Paulia’s for making him think she was her boyfriend.” the one with the swords says as she puts them in four steaths on her hips. “If I didn’t have to do this stupid assignment I’d be having words with that bitch.”

“...Wait, are you the new girl?” the one with the bow asks you.

“That’d be me.” you reply.

“...Wait, you’re saying the dutchess actually sent a blind girl!?” the one with the knives says as she waves her hand in front of her face. “I mean isn’t the Dutchess’s spymaster supposed to be this really creepy guy in old world armour?”

“And one that can actually see?” the one with the bow then asks.

“I’m his apprentice. Besides.” you say moving her hand gently out of the way in front of her face. “I don’t need my eyes to see things.”

“...Oh. You’re one of THOSE types of Ayarians.” the sword girl replies.

Not by choice...

“Pardon?” the girl asks.

“Nothing.” you reply. You’ve been good at distorting your thoughts lately, which is nice as many Ayarians enjoy reading surface thoughts of others.

“So is this just like, a normal extraction plan?” the girl with daggers says sitting back up.

“Yes, and we’ve been assigned to carry it out. I don’t want to hear any bitching of your love lives while on this assignment either.” the one Ayarian who saw you in says as she cracks her own knuckles.

“Can’t we just get, like, the Laminians to do it? Isn’t this what they live for?” the one with the bow asks.

“One of the Subota sisters is a Laminian. While officially she identifies herself as an Okarian, we fear the Miyians would call foul play if they were involved.” you reply. “Since Ayarians are neutral, no suspicions from either side could be raised.”

“Whateva, let’s just get this done. I got a date tonight.” the one with the bow says.

“Your right hand isn’t your boyfriend Yuri.” the one with swords says.

“Fuck off.” she promptly replies.

“Silence from here on out. Stealth only for the upcoming area. Now remember that our target is a Sloth Demon in his own base and it’s unlikely he’ll have any real guards, so mental stealth is going to be less than ideal. Stick to the shadows, telepathic communication only once we leave this area.” The one who shown you in says, you’re assuming she must be the group’s leader. “Smooth, quiet, and fast. Just enough time for Yuri to spent some time at home with her right hand.”

“Don’t you start!” Yuri then replies.
>>
[2/2]

Upon leaving the area all of you move like a silent and stealthed shadow. While the other Ayarians may not have had experience with dealing with machines, Master Sebastien taught you at the very least of how to make sure you don’t get caught by machines. You’re hoping that the superscience inventions this Sloth demon has are basic enough to fall for the same tricks that Master Sebastien taught you.

(“There.”) you say pointing to a nearby passage in the wall.

(“That’s just a wall.”) The Ayarian with the knives says.

(“It must be a illusion or something because I definitely see a passage down that area.”) you reply to her.

The Leader Ayarian uses a nearby pepple to float over to the illusion, watching as it floats through the illusion.

(“It’s an illusion. Anything on the other side?”) The leader asks.

(“Let’s not try to anger the one sort of Demon that everyone says not to give prep time when he’s had a few hundred years of it.”) you reply.

(“Alright everyone, no psychic powers beyond telepathy unless absolutely necessary. Yuri, head over to the door and pick it open.”) the leader Ayarian replies.

The bow Ayarian crosses the water, her face grimacing and her aura turning to black (hatred) as she crosses the sewer water and over to the door. She takes out a lockpick set and begins to pick the door. For a few minutes all you hear is the breathing of the group along with the trickling sound of sewer water.

(“...Got it.”) Yuri says as there’s a clunk in the door.

(“Slowly now.”) the leader says as the door slowly opens up.

No training could’ve prepared you for what was on the other side. Images of half operated on people hooked up to all sorts of strange machinery, a disembodied but still living head trying to scream in pain with his mouth sewn shut as metal spikes enter his exposed brain. People in cages who appear to be reduced to nothing more than bestial animals as they literally attempt to rip off any exposed skin they have for substance, alongside a single sealed cage with a single person inside of it just constantly screaming at nothing inside of his soundproofed cage. The entire lab reeks with both metallic scents of rust and blood.

“In the name of the Queens...” the one with throwing knives says agast at the situation.

On the other end of the lab you can see what appears to be a large and round fat boar-man hybrid, wearing what appears to be a Miyian lab coat his size and standing in front of an observation room, watching with glee as people on the other side seem to pound on the class screaming.

“Hm yes... Very favorable reactions to the gas... This one apparently hasn’t lasped into insanity like the others... This calls for some refinements!” the large boar-man seems to say with glee on his face.

(“Let’s give this asshole the headache of his life.”) the leader says

(“He should get a hell of a lot more than that.”) the one with knives replies.

As you sneak through the lab carefully, going through it’s disgusting contents, taking care not even to breathe too loudly as you attempt to psionically hide your presence as you advance.

As you get within 20 paces of the Mad Doctor, you jump up to the top of your feet as a creature in the cage neck to you suddenly lashes out. Having some sort of misshapen metal head and eyes, sparks coming out from it’s leg while it’s torso remains human.

“Guest guest unwelcome guests!” the Sloth demon says spinning around, his eyes bloodshot with lack of sleep and a look of anger on his face, looking at all of you. When someone points out your location with psychic stealth, others noticing you becomes a lot easier. “Can’t you see I’m in the middle of some important research!?”

“Research!? This is torture you sick bastard!” the one with the knives says, slowly reaching for the knives on her boot.

“Do you know what you’re even doing to these people here!? That and all of the innocent Succubi who died at your hand!?” the one with the swords mentions.

“Of course not! Testing your hypothesis is all a part of science! In fact the spread of the Okarian and Miyian groups is most fascinating in that I was only a little off from my predictions!” the large Sloth demon with a large grin on his face.

“He dies here!” Yuri says as she takes out her bow, quickly firing one of the three arrows in her hand at the Sloth demon.
>>
[2/2]

The sloth Demon barely seems to react with the arrow being lodged within his shoulder, quickly reaching out next to him and pressing a button on his desk. Upon doing so all of the cages in the area opens up, howling Crimera and insane people now rushing towards you.

“Let’s see if my attack program works even though my subjects are duress!” the Sloth demon says, nearly laughing as he pulls the arrow out of his head.

“...Why.” you mutter to yourself as you take out your psychic sword, hopefully Brooklyn is still dealing with her challengers to make this situation you’re in more fair.

“Spread out!” the Ayarian leader immediately says, spreading out both of her hands to push away all of the incoming creatures running at you.

“Once a creature is blown back, you waste little time in quickly pulling one back to you with a psychokinetic grasp and then slashing the creature in half with your psychoblade, the blade glowing green with psychic energy after you’ve mercy killed the poor creature.

Many of the other Ayarians start to fight off the creatures near to them in order to get a small bit of breathing room, but the breathing room is all the Sloth demon needs to pull out a blowpipe and shoot a dart at one of the nearby Ayarian commandoes.

“AH!” The commando with knives says as she takes the dart out of her neck, slowly looking at it. “...You SON OF A BITCH!”

The knife Ayarian then takes her knives, tossing them directly at the Ayarian group leader. The leader is caught off guard by this attack, directly taking two knives to the shoulder and her leg, the knives spinning in place inside of the Ayarian commander, caused her to yell out in pain from the cold metal inside her flesh.

“Greta what the hell!?” Yuri exclaims in shock.

“Ha ha! Bet you weren’t expecting that you son of a bitch!” the knife thrower Ayarian exclaims proudly as she throws another knife at a nearby creature’s throat.

“How fascinating... The compound proves to be working better than I expected!” the sloth demon seems to happily say.

Out of all the people to attack she had to pick the leader. It also appears the darts don’t target mental wards, but rather biological ones. Your read of the environment and the abilities of the others show that they’re fairly competent alongside yourself, but without someone giving orders this battle won’t be in your favor, especially when the old commander just blacked out from pain.

“WHY DON’T YOU JUST DIE!?” the knife Ayarian yells at you, throwing several knives at you.

Using your precognition you deflect the knifes and attempt to throw them as far away as possible from the area. If you didn’t have your precognition than those would’ve definitely hit as she curves the shots just before hitting the target.

(“Knockout arrow, only one. Was saving it for our target!”) Yuri the bowgirl replies as she fires three arrows at incoming specimens.

The blade withstands the burst of psychic energy as it was designed to withstand it.
>>
>>39538610
we could channel power into our Psy Barrier to stop the darts, or at least deflect them from hitting us.
>>
>>39538650

I assumed that using our Psyblade would be more likely to kill or seriously injure her as opposed to knocking her out. But if we can do it with our Psyblade to the same result, then go for that. If not, a cage's bar should work fine.
>>
>>39538695
If we use our psyblade, I doubt we can defend our allies. I think charging something else while reflexively defending would be best.
>>
>>39538695

Using that with the Psyblade would definitely involve killing someone, or at least incredibly bodily harm to all but the most resilient people.

I'm alive and well. I want try another quest now that I finished school, but don't worry. This quest won't be affected in the slightest.

(“Save the arrow for the Sloth Demon.”) You instruct as you grab a nearby bone from a table. (“I got an idea.”)

Sorry Grenda, but this is really going to hurt.

Taking the bone you rush towards Grenda, flicking aside one of the blades she throws at you while the other lands in your shoulder. It hurts like hell, but according to your predictions this is the quickest way to end the fight. While she reaches for another knife on the right side of her body with her left arm, you jab the bone in under her armpit before hopping back. You make a quick gesture with your open hand turning into a closed fist, in where the telekinetic energy you placed in the bone shatters it with the same force as a bomb. Grenda is blown back by the explosion in the process. Grenda’s TK barrier should have dampened the blast, but she’ll be picking shrapnel out of that wound, non-lethal despite how it looked.

The other two manage to dispatch the rest of the creatures with ease. The sword Ayarian pants as she’s covered in blood and... who only knows what else while Yuri counts her few remaining non-broken arrows.

“Alright, like... you’ve only succeeded in making us REALLY fucking angry.” Yuri says pointing a finger at him.

“I know like... This is going to take forever to get out of my hair... Like... what is even in my hair!?” the sword Ayarian says as she runs her hands through her hair.

“Give up Sloth Demon, the Pride Demons won’t save you now.” you say pulling the knife from out of your shoulder.

“Well I... I guess I don’t have much left...” The Sloth demon mad scientist says as he looks around. “I mean I only have myself... My coat... And my nuclear powered laser beam!”

The Sloth demon takes out a device he had hidden in his hand, a red firearm like Master Sebastien’s and fires out towards the sword Ayarian. The laser blast seems to melt cleanly through one of the swords she uses to deflect it, instantly incinerating her armour and charbroiling the flesh beneath it.

It’s at this moment you can see the barest glimpse into his mind. This creature has no empathy for other creatures, only seeing them as various points of data, a smile of twisted sublimity across his face as he tests his newest device.

"Minda!" Yuri calls out in fear as her friends arm is charbroiled.

Feint a full-out attack, parry and defend what he throws against us from his person and around the lab. Assume he has a self-destruct mechanism and prepare to stop that.
>>
>>39539188

Is our TK strong enough to rip the weapon from his grasp? If not, we could knock the weapon off target, possibly damaging it or causing a misfire. Try and get Yuri to fire the knock-out arrow at him while we have him distracted.
>>
>>39539307
We could use Slashkinesis on his sword and hope that its enough to at least redirect his aim. Or we activate Psionic Focus and charge at the Sloth demon ourselves.

Reacting fast, you levitate various objects around the lab and throw them at the Sloth demon all at once, going for pure volume over accuracy. One of the projectiles you do aim at his hand, accelerating it so that it’s knocked off course, shooting the laser directly into the ceiling.

“Yuri now!” you cry out to her.

Yuri doesn’t hesitate, taking an arrow out from her quiver and launching it in less than a second in order to hit the demon directly in the chest. He’s too tough to die from a single arrow, but from how he kneels over and collapsed on the ground, you figure that the arrow did it’s job.

You exhale a small breath as you look over the lab. “...Well at least everyone is alive.”

“...I may as well be dead with how that bastard damaged my nails... I mean I just got the manicured!” Minda complains as she looks at her arm.

“I’ll be totally honest, that job was *terrible*.” Yuri quickly replies.

“So you have him?” you ask while sitting on your throne room.

“Yes, we smuggled him into Rebecca’s underground city afterwards. He’s alive but currently unconscious. A few psychic attempted to enter his dreams but claimed it was one of the most disturbed and alien minds they’ve ever witnessed.” Erika reports.

“He’s been insane for hundreds of years, it’s no shock that his mind is in such a state.” Sebastien comments.

“Erika, are you sure you’re alright!?” Leona says, nearly panicking over the wound in Erika’s shoulder.

“It’s not as bad as it seems, really. I managed to stop the Ayarian who was mind controlled before she could try and twist the blade telekinetically.” Erika reports.

“I find it funny that the Ayarians are the one trying to stop both sides to calm down for once. Usually they’re the ones doing that.” Wilhelmina replies.

“It’s going to become a lot worse when they start demanding to see him.” Nalika replies.

“Rebecca is both rabid and paranoid. I don’t know where she’s keeping him, but I know for a fact that it’s likely going to be the last place both the Miyians and Okarians will ever look.” you comment.

“We’ll wait until Rebecca beats a confession out of him before proceeding. It gives us time to prepare on what we should do next.” you reply. “In the meantime go rest Erika, you’ve earned if after all you’ve been through today.”

“Thank you very much Dutchess.” Erika bows before heading off.

“Erika just let me treat it!” Leona says pestering her.

“...Well there is something you can help me while I’m recovering...” Erika replies.

“Name it! An-” Leona stops as she realizes what Erika is implying.

“Come now, we’re on the tenth chapter!” Erika says with a bounce in her step.

“...Ugh...” Leona mutters as she begrudgingly goes along.

“And for you Dutchess Brooklyn?” Nalika asks.

“Bed. It’s been a long day and those challengers were tiring. I’m going hit the sack early and wake up to handle things tomorrow.” you reply. “Maybe start planning that going away party for the twins before they leave for Russia.”

“Very well, I have some paperwork to take care of before my brother’s arrival.” Nalika comments.

You retire to your room for the night, Wilhelmina now having the next bedroom over to yours in order to get to you faster if you’re in trouble. Before you go to bed though you remember that nightmare you had a while ago, about that girl asking for help in your dreams. Sure it became a voice from hell later on, but something about that voice haunts you as important...

“...Let’s see if she’s nearby at least.” you say taking out a map of Old TO and opening it up. You then place four compasses on the corners of the map as you prepare an impromptu ritual. You really doubt she’s going to be here, but if this fails you’ll move onto the other continental maps that you have in your possession.

As you begin to chant, the compasses react and to your great surprise actually point to a single location in Old TO. When tracing the lines, you discover that all the points lead directly to the Miyian University.

“...Beck... What are you doing down there...” you mutter as you tap your cheek. You’re going to have to ask the Subota’s if any freakishly powerful Okarians went missing recently or something

(Alright I'm getting tired and this seems like a decent place to call it. I'm a bit more used to this again now so let's see how badly I fuck up tomorrow/next week)

garr wish i could be online while quest is going.

Wondering did the voice sound exactly like our own? Currently my only working idea of who it is possibly the deguar.

Think that the sloth demon has set up a bunch of nasty contingency or already had set his plan in motion. We need to look into this as we have no idea when or if we can get info from the sloth demon.

The voice sounded like that of a young girl, not your own voice.

Unknown person as well.

bump?

also when are we going to deal with the whole Excel issue? it was meant to be like 80 hours from when Brodin told her but I've lost all sense of timescale so no idea when that is anymore

I meant for the thread to be finished last night. You don't need to keep bumping it.

As for the Excel saga, yes that will be dealt with.
