When we last left off our princess she had dueled a handsome swordsman of a bandit lord named Shilvile into servitude, killed three insane murders and an evil blood mask, and with help of our friends the druids buried the bodies of them and their victims. We then found out that Lasandris, the mistress of the poison dagger had killed another bandit lord. Fearing a potential rival you quickly recruited, at the cost of a 1,000 gold and the position of raid leader, the greedy, yet honorable, war axe wielding dwarf Haroldnarl.

You have sent your stealthiest men to spy on your rival Lasandris, and they have only now returned report that with all her camps and fort she has about 60 bandits+ plus her personal assassin entourage. Lasandris and her entourage's locations appears to be unknown at this time.

Have our dwarf fellow build up our castle with his craftsman shtick while we do something else.

Lets get some prestige and enough gold for a sizable warchest. With our growing forces we should try for a more valuable target.
>>
>>39534882
Damn, her forces number about equal to ours.
We need some food, so let's raid. Let's try to stock up in case we get sieged.
Also, can we see the options for Construction?
>>
(FYI for those new to the quest, we're going by rules of three, first three agreed choices, rolls, etc.)
>>

As long as it can be built with a wood and a little stone you currently have the capacity to build it. Taverns, farm houses, workshops, and etc. You have no access to metal currently unless you buy or steal it, so no blacksmiths or war forges for you currently.

>>39535172
(Hello! You currently have 1 castle, several huts and tents around said castle, and another wood fort from when Shilvile joined you.)
>>
>>39535242
I could trade my raid and build vote for train and build.>>39534957
Given we're reinforcing the castle defenses could we also lay traps and keep a good perimeter with the rangers?
>>
>>39535242
>>39535301
Could we trap the hell out of Shilvile's fort and have him relocate with us, so when our rivals come they get a surprise?
>>
>>39535242
Then if we can, let's clear out some forest, make 3 craftsmen, only permit them to make arrows and bows using said cleared out wood. And then, till the cleared ground and get some gardening/farming going. Constant raiding will eventually put us in bad terms against many people.
and then train the rest seven bandits into rangers. Meanwhile, train ourselves in basic marksmanship from our ranger mentor.
If we can cut down trees towards the wooden fort do that too.
and keep people on guard. Move around in pairs if out of our parimiter, and ordr them to be sharp. We're dealing with a potential ambush.
>>
>>39535406
You could if two others agree to the idea before another one that conflicts with it does the same.
>>
>>39535406
>>39535466
I'd totally be down with that.
>>
>>39535529
If my option(>>39535445) is not disturbed/canceled by it, then I support this. Wood fort is unreliable compared to the good old stone.

It's easy enough to get Shilvile to stay in the castle, he's been mooching about the place most of the time anyway. You send Haroldnarl to set up a series of ever increasingly elaborate traps for the wood fort much to his amusement.

While this is taking place the Elder Druid and his followers have come up to your castle on horseback, requesting audience with you.

"Yes, yes I understand. I know you are preparing for big things but I wouldn't come here without reason. I felt a disturbance in the harmony of the forest, just like when I was around the blood mask you destroyed earlier. I had one of my druids go investigate the burial site and...it has been desecrated. They dug up the body of the one who wore the mask. All that was left inside the grave was a letter...I believe it's meant for you."

He hands you a scrap of white parchment. Inside in green ink writes the words. "Blood can be it's own poison, princess."

Ask the Elder Druid if he can sense the blood spirit's malevolence.

My guess is that it's Lasandris looking to get an edge in the inevitable conflict.

You decide to get out of the castle and help co-ordinate the build effort. You manage to complete all the constructions before nightfall and with impressive quality for wood construction, so much so even to Haroldnarl's surprise. "Perhaps I should've given up banditry for carpentry." He jokes.

As the sun sets Treesap your Ranger Trainer comes back. His eyes are sunken in with fear, you've never seen an elf so tired. "I...I ran off as fast as I could. It's a miracle we all made it out of there alive..."

"Well, just what in the 9 hells did you see?!" Shouts Shilvile.

"The...blood mask...she, gave in to the grin brothers...they...they killed their own men...all of them...so much blood...and then they...fused together into this...this thing...and oh god the chanting...the chanting...blood...blood...blood..." Treesap goes to the nearest window and vomits.

"And so have you, we know of the fate of the grin brothers...I take it you do as well."

"Indeed...we know the spirit has grown in power, growing into a monstrous beast. If it wins here this day the forest is likely doomed. We discussed assistance with the coven and it's dragon, they expressed our sympathies, and promised to destroy the thing should it kill us all...but until that time he has been persauded not to by Lasandris, offering him 1000 gold and a sacrificial virgin....and well...as as druids we're of a short supply of both gold and virgins..."

Hitting it in the mask might still work, but it's probably gonna cover the mask this time. We're probably gonna need fire arrows to burn off the blood armor before we can hit its weak point.

Does preparing for battle include making giant traps for giant enemies? Get bows for our warriors even if its not their 1# skill? We should definitely boil water in pots. The tree people can toss the excruciating boiling water to distract the monster and other bandits.

Lemme take a crack at it.

"Men, I know this is not quite what you signed up for when you pledged your service to me. You expected some raids, perhaps a slow growth, a gradual, yet inevitable rise to greatness. But fate...does not always work as we want to, and we now find ourselves tested by a fiend horrendous- one brought forth by fear.

Yes, fear. Fear of our greatness. Lasandris knew of our growth, and she grew afraid- and fear breeds desperation. She knows not what she has called forth, and we must put her in her place.

Our rise IS inevitable. That much is true. She knew this. Knows this, and she flails desperately to stop us.

Let us show her how wrong she was to oppose us, and yet how so very right she was to fear us."

I like it, its about what I had in mind!
>>
So it's fire then? I'n not objecting, but we should take cate to not accidently damage our tree . Also, that blood sprit, what exactly is it?
>>
...Actually, can we kite the monster to Lasandris' place?

Send our rangers there to bait it toward her place. They're speedy enough that they should be able to stay out of danger and still redirect it by chasing them. Then they can vanish when close to her place.
>>
>>39537222
Some kinda demon. And I dunno. Physical damage isn't something to rely on too hard. And recall that burning didn't take last time. Presuming the mask is still the lynchpin, we'll likely have to find some way to get it off. Maybe some kinda ice magic, if possible?

Rolled 12 (1d20)

Slightly above average success

The monster writhes forth it's body huge compared to the tiny mask almost buried beneath the girth of the writhing blood tendrils. The only human features left in it is the three arms carrying a mace, a shield, and a sword.

The Ents come closer together to form a wall and charge at it. They hold it at bay while your archers continue to sling volley after volley into the monster, the blessed arrows singeing the blood. It's not long though before it starts pounding, slashing, and tearing at the ents, the noble tree men unable to keep a firm grip on the semi-gelatinous mass and begins to slip through them.

(Another round of rolls pls. Same as before)

A great success!

The ents manage to hold on to enough of the blood spirits body to keep it from breaching the gate. Your men continue to lob arrows, rocks and dirt into the thing, slowing it down further. A few arrows manage to strike the mask spewing blood from it. and giving it cracks.

(Holy shit you guys)

Your rangers manage to hit the mask at an angle knocking it off it's body and flying towards you. You jump up high into the air and pierce it with your royal blade straight through it's center. "This time...stay dead."

It's shatters into peices and explodes into a cloud of blood. The main body of the monster quickly dissolves into a gigantic puddle of blood. As soon as you land back onto the ground at the edge of the puddle the blood quickly evaporates at your touch. The sounds of dozens up dozens of souls scream out as they vanish into nothingness...after a moment of extended silence...you feel...peace. The warriors begin to sing their battle cry again, lift you up upon your shoulders chanting. "Princess Lumora, The Blood slayer! Princcess Lumora, The Blood Slayer! Bandit Queen of our hearts!" again and again in praise.

We create a sovereign nation, mandatory military service for all able-bodied citizens, and tax all trade that flow through us, with high tariffs on anything going into Steelgate but favorable terms for everyone else.

We'll be an ecoterrorist VC, and the enemy will never see their army emerge from the forest alive.

>Have her being killed by your army
>Have one of your bandit lords kill her
>Throw her into the spike trap pit
>Torture her
>Imprison her
>Kill her yourself using your royal rapier
>Kill her yourself using your royal dagger
>>
>>39541094

>>39541070
Specifically, with the rapier. She turned out more of a nuisance than a threat, but she's still too annoying to let live.
>>
>>39541094
>>Throw her into the spike trap pit
>>
>>39541094
>>Torture her
>>Imprison her
army public use toilet
>>
>>39541094
Let our army "have their fun" with her before killing her however they want.
>>
She's probably laced with poisons.
>>
>>39541094
>Kill her yourself using your royal rapier
Last meal, last request, then execution.
>>
>>39541094
>>Have her being killed by your army
"Have your fun. Clean up when you're done."
>>
>>39541132
On second thought, she probably have some hidden poisons, so I'm changing my vote to
>spike trap pit
>>
>>39541155
Then delete your old post. It should still be within the time limit.
>>
>>39541115

Eh, I'd rather just kill her and be done with it. Too risky otherwise.
>>
>>39541094
>>Throw her into the spike trap pit

PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT

But bring me her head.
>>
>>39541123
>>39541132
>>39541148
Having her be raped kind of goes against the guidelines we laid out for our bandits. It's uncharacteristic of the princess.
>>
>>39541180
...we have guidelines for bandits? And even so, rape in warfare is extremely common, even between actual kingdoms.

Take no chances.

Uh, yes, we do? Are you ignoring what we did during the raids on the towns and on the duke's estate?
>>
>>39541196
Wait, I change my choice to >>39541175.
That way she can't use dirty tricks apon death, and we surround the pit for good measure. Again, taking no chances.
>>
>>39541193
Actually, we did lay out guidelines before a raid. We're trying to be romantic bandits, not 'realistic/gritty' bandits.
>>
>>39541209
>>39541203
I actually didn't vote for rape-death, but to be honest we could totally make an exception for the bitch who let loose a blood demon and tried to poison us.
>>
>>39541193
If you're going to go against 4 threads of established character, there had better be a good reason for it.
>>
>>39541219
Could, but won't. We're better than that.
>>
>>39541219
If we make one exception, then during our next raid inevitably someone is going to try to rape a woman. And then we'll have to execute them, and put us down one bandit for something that could have been prevented.
>>
>>>Throw her into the spike trap pit

You have your men drag her to the edge of the spike trap pit.

"Lassandris, Mistress of the Poisoned Dagger, you have caused chaos and destruction upon this land. Killing enemies and innocents alike. If it wasn't for your utter disregard for anyone or anything I might have respect for you being such a challenging opponent...might. Instead you will die along with your minions. Dead and forgotten in a pit of spikes." Before she has time for a rebuttal you kick her off into the pit with a resounding thud and piercing sound.

"...bitch." You say beneath your breath.
>>
>>39541268

That works! Now onto less demonic matter.
>>
>>39541268
Let's, carefully and taking our time, loot Lassandris' fort and the bodies of her bandits.

Then we need to work on making farms; our food situation is going to become critical.
>>
>>39541289

Our money situation will be critical, too, but hopefully whatever Lassie left behind will help with that.
>>
>>39541268
Alright, the forest is finally united. loot Lassandris' fort and then we can get around to developing the area. Let's not cut down any trees though, since that would damage our relationship with Ents and Druids. The landscape will also be useful against invaders.

Great!
Now let's loot the fort, Call it a day, cut down trees, and get some infrastructure going (roads, farm plots/gardens, proper barracks/bakeries/cookeries/forges). Buy some required supplies if we need it from the town (anvils, farming tools, ect.)
>>
>>39541309
Not TOO much cutting down.

Don't want to anger the Druids and Ents after all.

speaking of which, we should consult the druids about that. And also, no clearings/roads hurt building infrastructure.
for now, lets loot, call it a day and rest, consult with the druids regarding buinding rooms for infra, and start to work on our merry little world.
>>
Since we're kind of a bigshot now, let's loot the big guys. We're supposed to be virtuous bandits, so let's loot corrupt nobles or something similar.
>>
>>39541329
This, but let's not rest on our laurels too much. The fact that the Bandit Lords have been united under one banner is sure to get some outside attention. We should be prepared to handle it.
>>
It took time, effort, blood, sweat, and cold hard cash, but we did it for now. Now we just have to hold it together...

You walk to the front of the ranks of your men and turn to them. "My friends, my army, my new country men. With the death of the last opposing Bandit lord. There is no longer any dispute as to who rules Treeline Forest. From this day forward Treeline Forest shall be known as the Kingdom of Treeline, out of respect for the forest that has given us so much. I am no longer Princess Lumora of Steelgate, bandit queen. I am Princess lumora of Treeline, Bloodslayer, and Bandit Queen of Hearts. Kneel before your new ruler, as we celebrate a kingdom finally forged."

Your armies bow before you.
