Welcome back to the Minotaur Civilization quest! When we last left off we had found Halflings aboard an iceberg and discovered the frozen citadel of the accursed Snow Elves, and just barely managed to escape with the skins on our collective backsides! However, our leader Brakla was captured during the escape, and is being held in a place unknown. Ancestors help him...

For any newcomers, there are three settlements that are under Tauren control, with the Halfling outpost lacking the population to give full benefits. Each settlement provides two actions per turn (One major Civvie Post) and one research. We use a 1d100 for each action/tech, with appropriate bonuses when required.

>A1: Colossi
>86: Great success!
The calls for war echo from the streets of Drozen all the way through the wastes.
>HOW DARE THEY!
>WE MUST RECLAIM OUR KING!
Human and Tauren alike are enraged, with mobs forming in front of the barracks, demanding action. Soon enough the idea of Colossi construction comes up again. There can be no doubt this time, and soon their forms are carved out of cold hard stone. Their bases stand taller than the walls surrounding Drozen and Grok, with their heads reaching up to scrape the very fabric of the sky. When the first finishes, it is awoken by William and Catherine. It has one goal in life
>Kill.
>Elves.
It awakens with a mighty roar, and is ready for war.
>Colossi constructed!
>Colossi unlocked!
>These troops serve three purposes:
>1: Destruction: Their massive forms can easily tear down most structures
>2: Shields: Their stone skin and interior makes it near impossible to kill one of these short of a Haduoken.
>3: Demoralization: The sights of these things lead to many absolutely shitting their pants, causing wide spread panic in enemy ranks.

>A2: Moar Colossi
>91: Amazing success!
>ONE IS NOT ENOUGH! HOW DO YOU EXPECT US TO FIGHT AN ENTIRE CITY OF THOSE DAMNED ELVES WITH ONE!
The mob isn't satisfied, and many more Colossi are constructed as a result.
>+9 Colossi!
>Total Colossi count: 10

>R1: Colossi Construction
>87+5=92: Amazing success!
Despite being under massive pressure, the masons and geomancers work out great techniques to create the hulks of stone. They soon jot these down on paper, and soon any mid-level Geomancer can help a skilled mason make these!

>68: Success!
While your blacksmiths have used stone tools for hammering out finer details and frames, the idea of using something better comes up.
>"What if I took this ingot and hammered it onto this stick?"
While doing this, the blacksmiths unintentionally create a set of giant tweezers to use when pulling a frame out of the flames. Soon enough iron hammers and tongs pop up in all forges in the settlements!
>Tongs invented!
>Iron hammers invented!

>A4: Siege
>55: Average!
When questioned about the spells used during the Battle of the Old Gods, the various mages shrug.
>We just kind of, did it. No flair to it. Nothing really distinguishing us from the rest of our lot.
They don't seem to like the idea of splitting into their own school.

>A5: Walls
>5: Observers prepare to see how do things around here
A lone geomancer initiate fears a counter-attack in the event things go south. He tries upgrading the walls, and ends up crushing his younger sibling.

>A6: Books

Having used oral lessons to teach young initiates, the masters dictate that a proper written recording of all the spells be created. Soon enough, tomes are made to help accelerate learning.

>R2: Runes
>55: Average!
Though your weapons are strong, there is no real concept of "too strong" to the soldiers. The idea of some kind of "good luck" symbol is tossed around by your soldiers, some accepting it, some passing it off as a load of brown snow. They seem to have little to no effect.
>You lack the proper materials to create magic runes.

>R3: Metal tubes
>45: Average!
William and Catherine report to the blacksmiths of the silvery tubes some of the elven guards carried with them. Though this seems a bit perplexing, the blacksmiths create them. And they do, but there is one glaring issue. The problem is they do fuck all in the way of actual effectiveness.
>You asked for metal tubes, you got metal tubes.

>A1: New Armor
>61: Success!
The forges are ablaze with constant fuel being added. William himself even starts working on the sets, demonstrating how to make Highland Steel to the amazed blacksmiths.
>"Ya jus' go'a blow on it, an' that'll get ya som' fine Highland Steel!"
He soon makes a set for himself, Catherine, and a few select Minotaurs.
>Steel discovered! +5 to army defense rolls.

>A2: Siege Platforms
>75: Above average success!
The mages, seeing how they won't have any walls to stand on and go "pewpewpew" on, decide to create some form of platform for them to use. Seeing the potential in the Colossi, they soon strap massive stone platforms to it's shoulders and use them as vantage points!
>The mages now use the Colossi as mobile artillery platforms!
>A3: Heroes
>24: Below average failure!
With the mob constantly yelling, any potential for a heroic speech or an individual to rise up is drowned out by the calls for war.
>A4: Army
>13: Complete failure!
While the troops are preparing for battle, many accidents occur. Sometimes a blade wasn't properly slotted into it's handle and came off right into the back of a squad member. Other times an Axe blade would shatter on impact, ruining it. When all is said and done, the troops start to march, but without Brakla at the helm, they are little more than a disorganized mob. Their torch lights also happen to stick out like a sore thumb in the snow.
>The Snow Elves know you're coming!
>R1: Sleep Paint

>A5: Catherine Magic
>16: Complete failure!
Catherine sees potential in Magic, and seeing as how William is piss-drunk right now, she heads off to the Mages' Guild. Though the Tauren demonstrate how they channel the magic, all Cath appears to be able to do is accidentally destroy half the temple.
>Catherine has potential, but you have fuck all in the way of tapping it.
>A6: Runes
>30: Failure!
The Militia commanders take note of the seemingly random bolts of lightning falling from the sky during training. They dismiss it as little more than intimidation attacks from the Elves.
>R3: Moar Runes
>13: Complete failure!
What they do take not of, however, is the runes put onto weapons. Seeing as how a little bit of luck is always good, they draw more runes onto other weapons. Two problems soon arise.

Righto. ACTION TIME!
>You have three actions, one for each major Hero in this army(William, Catherine, and Garric). For each action that is non magical, roll 1d100. For any action that is a spell, roll the appropriate dice.

The Army moves forwards, trudging through the snow-ridden landscape with one goal in mind. Free Brakla. When the crystalline structures of the Elven city are sighted, pure rage boils into the blood of the army. There is one job for these people to do. >A1: 5
>Unintentional Child Death Counter: ERROR
William, hungover from massive amounts of drinking, looks over his troops. With a mighty yell, he rallies them.
>"WELL DON' JUST FOOKIN' STAND T'ERRE! GET GOIN' AND KILL THE POINTY EARED SONSABITCHES!"
With this, he charges headlong towards the gates. With him charge the army and each Colossus, but with each step they are getting pelted with several heavy iron spheres. A massive BOOM signals their arrival, and anyone hit is almost instantly killed. This includes several children who snuck in for the thrill of battle.

>"Great, that drunk's leadin' the army. This'll be fun."
Catherine mutters this as she effortlessly knocks out the only two guards in the sewers. Making her way towards the Citadel, having seen the signs left by escaped slaves, she soon is inside. It's up to her to find Brakla.

>A3: Hadouken
>38: Failure!
>76: Above average success!
>38: HOT DAMN WE GOT DOUBLES!
>76 for the third roll
>DOUBLE DOUBLES!
>152 for the accuracy
The mages couldn't hear William from high atop the Colossi, and several are knocked off their hooves by the sudden movement. By some miracle they don't fall off and are able to summon up multiple balls of flame. They pale in size when compared to the Colossi's heads, but are big enough to get the job done. When fired, they hit dead on, melting several towers instantly on impact. Any elf unlucky enough to be caught in the blast is vaporized, leaving little more than an imprint where they had stood.

>Garric
The Master Electromancer takes a long breath, then begins to charge his ultimate attack. As his eyes shimmer with bright blue light, he unleashes a massive blue beam that nearly knocks the Colossus onto its feet. Despite the sheer force behind it, he keeps it trained dead on the main gate, blowing it open and annihalating anything behind

The Elven Queen looks at the captain of the guard, bemused smile on her face.
>"No matter, they'll never make it past the White Beings. Isn't that right my dearest slave Brakla?"
With this she tugs on to Brakla's chain, pulling at his neck. Gag in his mouth, Brakla can do little more than stare daggers at her.
>"I thought so. When your friends are done killing themselves I'll have to have a celebratory ride on you. Won't that be nice?"
>Fuck...
>This...
>SHIT!
Despite being unable to yell with the gag in his mouth, Brakla's message is clear as he easily shatters the shackles on him, then rips off his chain and twists the guard captain's head right around. He turns to look at the queen of the elves.

>40: Average!
"Well, tha's conve'nent! All trroops, thrrough t'a gate! Let's so t'ese bastarrds how it's done!"

William rallies the troops through the now shattered gate. The sudden surge of troops through the entrance terrifies any remaining elves, soon the entrance (if you could call it that) is secured for your side.
>-254 enemy forces!
>A2: Catherine
>61: Success!
Hearing Brakla's familiar roar, Catherine rushes towards the source, finding a locked door and the sounds clashing metal on the inside. Busting it open with her spear, she sees a ragged and bloodied Brakla fighting what she assumes to be the head honcho of the elves, also bloodied.
>"God, he looks ugly."
This muttered comment distracts the Queen and allows Brakla an easy hit, sending her flying across the throne room.
>A3: Garric and Mages
>40, 61, 78: Success!
The mages urge the Colossi forwards, firing balls of fire randomly into the city. Each shot hits somewhat near it's target and causes gratuitous amounts of flames to go spewing everywhere. Seeing this as an optimal oppratunity for some Hadouken, Garric charges up another beam the size of a Colossus and lands dead center into a mass of Elven troops. This one doesn't seem to damage them however, but sends them scattering all throughout the city.

You're right. I'll add Port's roll to the upcoming Brakla review.

>A1: William
>5: MOAR DEAD CHILDREN FOR THE DEAD CHILDREN GOD!
As William and his men continue to royally fuck up the Elven army and the surrounding city, a few of the more, brutish, Tauren and humans butcher several elven civilians, including multiple children. And then the bombs drop. Many, many explosions are heard behind the main army, destroying a Colossus and taking out several troops!
>-1 Colossus!
>-231 Foot soldiers!
>-19 Mages!

>Catherine
>15: Complete failure!
Catherine tries to avoid hitting Brakla as she maneuvers around him to try and knock out the queen. There's little point to this as the enraged king bitch slaps the elf into the next room over.
>The queen has been knocked unconscious!
I recommend trying to calm down Brakla, as he might kill her if left unattended.
>Garric
>95, 18, 96, 64: Average!
The remaining Colossus freak out and rush towards the walls, crushing several elves under their sheer size. Any walls they find are torn apart, and the mages are barely able to corral them into squishing the elves. While this is going on, Garric is able to charge a small Lightning Arc, barely larger than his fists, and unleashes it towards the elves. He hits dead on, and sends multiple chains of lightning through the elves encased in metal!

>A1: William
>2: We may be on a watchlist now.
William forces his way through the crowd, trying to find the commander of the Elven forces. Though he succeeds, it's not in the way he would have suspected. He breaks open a door to find the bloodied body of the commander with a small Elven child next to him, crying her eyes out.
>"Daddy? D-daddy?"
>"DADDY WAKE UP!"
His eyes are little more than slits as he raises his sword to end this creature's life. Something stops him before he brings it down.
>Will you kill her?

>A2: Catherine
>86: Great success!
Catherine, after making sure no guards are moving towards her position, crouches over Brakla's unconscious form.
>"C'mon, c'mon, c'mon!"
She thinks back to what the Mages had shown her, and tries desperately to channel any magical energy within her to heal Brakla. Her hands begin to glow a bright green, and wisps of magic begin to flow into Brakla, healing any open wounds.
>"C-catherine..."
Brakla has regained consciousness, and is now looking right at Catherine.
>Brakla is stabilized!

>A3: Garric
>100, 40, 22: Average!
The mages easily regain control of the Colossi and set about slamming them down on any elf stupid enough to try and escape from the Tauren and Human forces. Garric leads a Colossus personally and fires Lightning Arc after Lightning Arc. Though they do little damage, they do stun any forces that near him.

William takes a long look at the crying, shivering child. He thinks back to when he was a young boy and the elves came for his parents. He remembers when his mother died for him, trying to save him from slavery.
>"Ma'? MA'?!?!?"
He drops his sword, as do his knees. Then he shuffles over to the sniveling child and just sits next to her, trying to calm her down.
>"Ther' ther'e kid. Yer da's ina better place now..."

>Brakla and Catherine
Catherine is able to drag Brakla out of the throne room, and out into the hallway's side room.

>"A-are you gonna kill me? Like the big bull men did my daddy?"

>A2: Catherine
>58: Average!
Catherine manages to lift the bulking form of Brakla over her shoulder and makes for the side entrance. Constantly tripping over debris, they move at a snail's pace.
>Catherine and Brakla will make it to safety in one round!

>A3: Garric
>78+38=114: Success!
Garric sees the two moving towards the exit through an opening in the ceiling. Maneuvering his Colossus to the Citadel, he stomps about with it, crushing any Elves near the building. This distracts all of the remaining guards, and they proceed to get the fuck outta dodge.
>"Catherine, look out!"
Garric fires off a supercharged lightning bolt behind Catherine. It misses her by mere hairs and lands right between the eyes of the Elven Queen. Looking up, then behind her, Catherine gives him a thumbs up.

>73: Above average success!
Catherine sets down Brakla on a bit of rubble, careful to not drop him. Then she spins around and grabs a hold of the now singed queen. Then she picks up Brakla again and drags her behind them. They soon make it out to the city and are quickly outside the walls.
>Brakla and Catherine have made it to safety!
>The Snow Elf Queen has been captured!

>100: RNGESUS BE BLESSED
In his most soothing voice possible, William looks the little elf in the eyes, and says
>"Ih kno' how ya feel, lassie. Don' worry. I'll make sure ya get somewhere safe."
She breaks down and runs over to the man, bawling her eyes out. With this, he picks her up, her head buried into his shoulder, and walks out of the now burning building. Shielding her from any carnage, he slinks his way over to the hole where the entrance used to be.

Any airships that were left float about in the sky, powerless to do anything considering their pilots were killed by the shock from the blast.

>A2: Halflings
>72+10=82: Great success!
The outpost on the ice floe has just sent King Brakla a message! Between fun times with Catherine, he reads it:
>To the King Brakla
>My king, we have made great strides in studying these Halfling creatures! Their small frames are almost as hairy as our own, which is likely how they managed to live out on these hunks of ice for so long. We managed to roughly speak with them, and learned that each iceberg has it's own tribe of the little buggers! Their structures appear to travel far underneath the surface of the ice, tunneling down to the very bottom. They're not the strongest bunch, but appear to be quite crafty.

>A3: Runes

>74+10=84: Great Success!
While the cheers of happiness and drunk laughter are all fine and dandy, the idea of some kind of, well, you're not quite sure what, but something to go to it would be perfect. One night, William get's the (drunken) idea to try and string a stick with some kind of hollow base. The end result is your civilization's first guitar and the birth of Rock n' Roll, Bagpipes Edition!

>R3: Boats
>59+10=69: HOT DAMN LUCKY NUMBERS!
While the partying is going on, some of the carpenters in Gorric get the idea to bulk up a longboat and increase the size of the mast. The end result produces a beautiful yet sturdy ship they dub "The Catherine"

If it's time for the next action I'd like to send out scouting parties in all directions, exploring what has yet to be discovered, drawing better maps, searching for villages and such.

>A1: DnD
>92: Amazing success!
A new game has started to spread around the settlements. The players call it "Dungeons and Dragons", with mythical creatures and people played in it. It takes off and soon halls are set up where the players can meet and play!
>A2: Scouting
>66+10=76: Above average success!
Having secured his southern border, Brakla sends out scouts to try and find anything of note. Some head west, others head north. What they report varies from vast stretches of mountains to the west to stretches of plains to the north, filled with nothing but waist high grass. However, all report that Guth's pit seems significantly bigger than before...

>A3: Arena
>88: Great success!
The arena's popularity soon rivals that of DnD, with many contestants entering regularly and making names for themselves with the human and tauren audiences.
>A4: Walls
>5+5=10: Another kid bites the dust
Considering how the forces easily smashed their way through the Elven walls, many Geomancers attempt to improve the walls. They end up sending a kid up into the sky.
>The kid will return in two turns.
>A5: Training
>19: Complete failure!
The Militia, intrigued by the idea of an elite shocktrooper brigade, try to organize. All they end up doing is pissing off some vets.
>A6: Statue
>63: Success!
The Geomancer's (well, the ones not sending children to outer space) create a massive obsidian statue in the center of Drozen. Brakla and Catherine blush simaltaneously and mutter thanks.

>R1: Runes
>19: Complete failure!
The Sleepers take an interest in the runes, seeing them as another form of Sleep to be utilized. They have little luck in the way of actually figuring them out, and end up ruining several weapons in the process.
>R2: Aeromancers
>44+5=49: Average!
The idea of flight had entered your Aeromancer's minds since the Battle of the Citadel. Rather than trying to make a massive blimp like the elves, they try to make some sort of self propelled flight machine. The end result is what can best be described as a primitive glider, though their quality varies.
>R3: Halfling language
>21: Below average failure!
Another message is sent to Brakla.
>To the King Brakla
>My king, as you know, we have a crude understanding of the Halfling's language. Unfortunately, they seem to constantly add new words to it and change around the rules. We've got no idea on how to properly decipher the language!
