>Go cook breakfast.
>Shower, its not a run day.

You roll out of bed, rubbing the sleep from your eyes as you shut off your alarm before it has the chance to go off. With a suppressed yawn you head for the shower, its been a day or two since the last one you had thanks to Shadow Alex’s closet. After stripping, another thing you haven’t done much of lately, you adjust the water temperature to your liking and step in.

For a while you just stand under the water enjoying the hot water, though you know it won’t last forever and get to scrubbing down. Its a bit awkward still, cleaning this body, but it has been very quickly becoming something you’re used to.

You hum at that thought as you rinse the soap and shampoo from your body, thankfully you finish up before the water starts to lose its heat. With a shiver from the cool air you quickly start drying yourself off, your hair as always is a lost cause with only a towel. You do the best you can though, before grabbing the brush and hair dryer you bought recently and giving it a shot.

It takes a lot of effort, but you manage to get it mostly dry and head to your room with your dirty clothes. You hum when you realize Shadow Alex has all of your clothes, and she hasn’t said a word yet. Kat is still missing as well, but thinking back to last night you’re pretty sure you know where she is.

You glance to your closet filled with clothes that don’t really fit anymore due to your… growth spurt so to speak. With a bit of effort you probably could find something that fits well enough, or you could always see about waking Shadow Alex up somehow.

>Toast and eggs

You toss your clothes in the laundry basket before digging through your closet, you slip into some of your old boxers stretching the waistband as it goes over your hips. Its a bit tight, and you’ll probably have an impression left from it when you finally take them off, but whatever short of going commando this is really your only choice at the moment.

Jeans have a similar issue until you find the pair your mother bought incase you hit one last growth spurt, you can’t help but laugh to yourself a bit at that as you slide them on; they’re real baggy in the legs but fit nicely around your hips. Thankfully shirts are pretty universal and you slip into a green t-shirt that hangs loosely on you.

You hum as you head for the kitchen, figuring something simple will be nice for once. As you pass the living room you see your Dad in pajamas looking comfortable as hell as he watches the morning news.

“Breakfast soon?” he asks, looking away from the TV.

“Were you going to go without food until someone made it?” you wonder, not really looking for an answer, “But yeah breakfast soon. I’ll tell you when its done.”

“Thanks,” he smiles, ignoring your question.

You shrug and head for the kitchen, pulling out enough eggs and slices of bread for everyone, you were thinking about making fried eggs but don’t know how Kat’ll want hers so you settle for scrambled eggs.

You mix the cheese and a touch of milk in before pouring it in the pan and getting to work, once they’re mostly done you start toasting the bread careful to not let it get past browned. When everything is finished you start making the plates, only to notice your father has taken the first one already and is making a hasty retreat for the table.

>>
>>39569903

Your mother passes by, dressed for work, and grabs a slice of toast, “I’ll be a bit late today, they’ll probably have plenty of work from me taking off. So don’t worry about fixing dinner for me.”

“Okay, have a good day at work,” you put the last plate in the sink, after redistributing the eggs.

“I’ll try,” she gives you a smile, before waving to your Dad, “Bye dear, don’t give Alex too much heartache.”

“You should say that to her,” he mumbles almost too quiet to hear, before waving, “Drive safe, don’t work too hard.”

Your mother gives him a wry smile before heading out.

You hum and set the plates on the table, one for you and one for Kat; theres still no sign of either her or Shadow Alex being awake though.

“Where’s Kat?” your father asks, mirroring your thoughts, “Usually she’s the first at breakfast.”

“Still sleeping it seems,” you answer him, as you consider what to do about that.

>Try waking Shadow Alex up

“Hmm, give me a second,” you say standing there almost awkwardly, before deciding it’ll be easier to just head for your room, “I’m going to go wake her up.”

“Sure,” your father says as he continues to eat, “You probably should hurry eggs are never good cold.”

“I can always throw them back in the pan and just add a bit of browning to them,” you head for your room, and wonder exactly how you’re going to do this.

You briefly considering transforming and summoning her, but figure if all else fails you can resort to that, ‘Yo, Shadow Alex?’ you think feeling a little awkward when no response comes.

Another try, you decide, ‘Shadow Alex, come on wake up!’ you try to put a bit more force into the thought… not that you’re certain you actually succeed.

To your relief Shadow Alex groans, “Yeah? Whats up?” she asks with sleep in her voice.

‘You still have Kat in there right?’ you ask her, fairly certain of the answer.

”Yeah, she’s latched onto me sleeping,” Shadow Alex yawns, ”You want her back?”

‘Yeah, breakfast is ready,’ you vaguely remember her being naked last night, a glance at the floor confirms her clothes are still there, ‘Ah, can you put some clothes on her first?’

”Hmm, I guess teasing Kat is a good way to start the day,” Shadow Alex says happily, ”Give me a minute, or two.”

‘Don’t be too mean,’ you pick up her clothes, about to toss them in the laundry basket; only for them to disappear from your hands. You stop in surprise before realizing what happened, and sit down to pass the time.

It really does only take a minute before a blushing, dressed Kat is deposited in your lap, “S-Shadow Alex said breakfast was ready?”

“You’re a bit red in the face there, Kat,” your lips pull up into a teasing smile, “What’d she do?”

Kat swallows hard and tries to hide her face from you by burying it in your chest, “N-nothing really,” she says muffled.

“I can just ask her, you know?” you say quietly into her cat ears.

She stays quiet, and you’re about to ask Shadow Alex who has a content mixed with smug feeling rolling off of her.

“W-well to wake me up,” Kat starts, still muffled by your chest, “She dressed me really carefully..?”

“How’d that make you blush?” you wonder, doubting that’s all that happened.

“Because of how she did it,” Kat tries to dodge the specifics.

Shadow Alex fills in the gaps for you, ”I dressed her by biting the clothes and pulling them on, it was a little difficult… and probably would have take a lot longer if she didn’t wake up on the first piece.”

‘Which was?’ you ask Shadow Alex while petting Kat, until you remember the eggs, “Ah right, we really should get to breakfast, the food’s getting cold.”

Kat perks up at the mention of breakfast, and gets off of your lap, “What you make today?”

”Obviously the panties, it was fun watching her try to decide what to do,” Shadow Alex practically gloats.

You barely try to hide your amused smile, “Toast and eggs, though the latter might need to be warmed up.”

“I’m sure it’ll be fine,” Kat nods for emphasis, “Everything you make is good.”

“Well, I don’t know about everything,” you shake your head as she leads the way to the dinner table. Your father is finishing up, taking the last bite before standing up and bringing his dish to the sink.

“Everything that you’ve made me at least,” Kat sits in her usual spot next to yours.

You give the eggs a test bite, thankful they’re still warm, and sit down to eat. Neither of you say much as you eat breakfast, enjoying the food and each others company.

“Thank you,” Kat says quietly, before quickly adding, “For the food, it was good like always.”

“You’re welcome,” you stack everything up and take it to the sink, “I’m glad you liked it.”

She smiles, “So what are you planning on doing today?”

“Ah? Well I was probably going to give Anna a call and see if she’s alright,” you say while thinking about it, “Then probably go hunt a demon or two?”

Kat pauses, “So… I guess I’ll wait till you finish calling Anna?”

“Were you trying to figure out if you’ll be able to play games or not?” you ask, knowing full well that feeling.

She gives you a small smile, “Maybe just a bit?”

“I’m sure you’ll have time for at least one,” you ruffle her hair, a smile on your face, “Even if I finish before you its not like we’re on a schedule or anything.”

“Ah ‘kay,” Kat happily says, “I’ll be in your room?”

Bah, like Kat needs our room. Once we get our situation in order with a wish or whatever, we can go back to using cores to power up and expand Shadow Alex's space. Then it's just a matter of setting up some dividers, and voilà, Kat can have her own little place in our heart.

“More like our room, but yeah,” you give her ears a gentle scratch before pulling your hand back, “I’ll be there when I finish up.”

Kat is stunned into silence, a shocked look on her face; something that quickly fades as her face lights up into a warm smile that’s filled with excitement, “Thank you!” she brings you into a tight hug, and breathes in deeply before running off to the room both of you share.

You give a happy sigh as you head for the backyard. When you step outside you find yourself pleasantly surprised, as its refreshingly cool outside. Not enough to warrant a jacket or something like that, but a cold front must have hit.

Shadow Alex hands you the phone, ”You know since Anna likes to watch we should give her something to watch.”

‘It’s not like we owe her a favor, you know?’ you remind Shadow Alex, as you pull up Anna’s number on your phone.

”And? I bet it’ll be exciting, both for us and her,” she points out as if its fact.

‘I’m not about to call her and ask if she’ll watch me have sex with someone,’ you frown, hesitating on hitting dial.

”Why not? It’s a great conversation opener. Everything you say after that will seem mild in comparison!” Shadow Alex’s voice is colored with amusement.

‘Nah, at least not over the phone,’ you shake your head definitively. You’re about to hit call when a thought hits you, ‘Where is this coming from anyways?’

”What do you mean?” Shadow Alex sounds confused, ”I am your shadow… its normal for me to do things like this.”

You hum as you think about it, ‘Yeah, okay but, where is this coming from?’

”You mean being watched by Anna?” she asks.

‘Yeah, and why now?’ you sit back in the chair, letting your phone be for a moment.

”I don’t know,” you get the feeling she shrugged, “I guess I did a lewd jigsaw puzzle, Anna likes to watch, we went streaking, together they made that idea?”

You can’t help but chuckle at that, ‘Lewd jigsaw puzzle huh?’ you shake your head, ‘Seriously though, I’m not going to do that over the phone.’

”Alright, alright,” Shadow Alex grumbles as you hit call on your phone, and bring it up to your ear.

It rings twice before Anna picks up the phone, “Hello?”

“What’s up Anna, it’s Alex,” you say just to be sure.

“Why’s that?” you ask her, fairly certain you already know the answer.

“Because I’m scared… I’m scared she’ll start blaming me for everything,” Anna sounds defeated, “And the worst part is she probably wouldn’t be wrong…”

“Anna it wasn’t your fault any of that happened,” you frown, realizing over the phone is not a good way to have this conversation, “The blame lies entirely girl who kidnapped John in the first place.”

“I know that,” Anna says quietly, “That doesn’t change how I feel about it…”

You’re silent for a moment, “Hey Anna.”

“Yeah?” her voice sounds a bit choked almost.

“If you need a shoulder to cry on,” you trail off near the end, “I can come meet you… or you can come over here.”

Anna takes a minute to decide, “Yeah… I think. I think I’d like that.”

“Which would you prefer?” you ask her.

“I don’t know… which ever works best for you?” Anna turns it around, her voice still thick.

“I’m just doing what any friend would,” you say, “I’ll be over there in a bit.”

“See you then,” Anna hangs up.

You pull out your phone and type in the address to the map function, not recognizing the street name. After fiddling with it for a bit, you’ve got the settings to walk and most direct path. She’s about thirty minutes away out towards the park you saw Amy running in.

With a bit of effort you’ve got a good feel for where she’s at, and pocket your phone and the address just in case. You’re about to leave when you remember you should probably tell Kat at least.

You head for your room, stopping just before the door wondering if you should bring her along… you bite your lip, uncertain and not really used to dealing with this sort of thing.

Train our magic so it's a bit more reliable, collect cores to get a wish so we aren't screwed when summer vacation ends, and then start training and working on getting shadow Alex more freedom. That's more or less what I'm after, anyways

Longs improving Alex's current spells should always be up there on the 'big list of shit to do' I would like to find uh... more permanent solution for SA being out and about. >This is a personal sort of thing, leave Kat at home.

You shake your head, realizing Kat really probably should stay home, this is a personal sort of thing after all. With that decided you head into the room, Kat’s just finishing up a stage its counting her points up to a B rank.

“Yo Kat,” you surprise her a bit, judging from the small jump.

She half turns to face you, hand over her heart, “I-I didn’t hear you open the door.”

You smile at that, “Focus’ll do that to you, but hey I’m going out for a bit.”

“Demon hunting?” Kat asks turning back to exit out.

“Nah, Anna just… wants to hang out for a bit,” you shrug not really sure how much is cool to share, “If you need anything ask Dad, he shouldn’t give you any trouble.”

Kat gives you a curious look, but refrains from asking, “Are you going to be gone a while?”

You frown and think about it, before shrugging, “Maybe, I’m not really certain; might be all day… might only be a couple of hours.”

“... kay, I guess I’ll see you later then?” Kat practically asks.

“Yeah, have fun Kat,” you give her a small wave.

She waves back, still watching you with curious eyes as you make for the door.

Once again you step out in the the cool air, you’d say maybe 75 or so with a nice breeze, and head for Anna’s. You set a good pace, taking advantage of your long legs and endurance from running, without really needing to put too much effort into it.

You hum as you walk, wondering if you should do something to make it pass by a bit quicker.

Sorry, kind of confused about this line.

You know the FPs don't scare me nearly as much as the scrakes. FP will enrage then start panting walk around enrage again. Fairly easy to deal with. Those fucking scrakes when they enrage they just keep chasing your ass down until you die.

>>39580737
Instead of getting 6 we get 12 to our roll and one Darkness to the stat we're rolling with.
>>
>>39580737
Sixes are worth more, but they also give a darkness point. Darkness is bad, causing random changes after combat if we accrue a moderate amount
>>
>>39580748
>>39580771
Gotcha, so a 3, 5, 6 is just 3, 5, 12 and then a darkness to whichever stat we rolled with. Makes sense, I just couldn't figure out what n= meant.
>>
Calling for:

>Talking with Shadow Alex a bit.

Writing now

>>39580737
I will rewrite it, but essentially:

You roll 3d6+Stat, where stat is magic, fury, or heat. These can be found on the character sheet.

If the result is 6, it doubles and adds one "stat" darkness.

So if I rolled 3d6+9 and got 6,1,1 +9

the 6 would become 12 and add 1 magic darkness making the result add up to 23 and leaving one tag towards a temp change.

Hopefully that makes sense?
>>
>>39580798
Yup, makes sense. Thanks for explaining!

>Talk with Shadow Alex a bit

‘So whats up with that door really?’ you ask Shadow Alex, curiosity getting the better of you.

“Whats up with what door?” Shadow Alex asks, confused at the sudden question.

‘The one next to the closet, you know, in your room,’ you clarify, ‘I mean I’ve seen it before right? but never really thought about it.’

“What about it?” Shadow Alex asks confused at what you’re getting at.

‘Where does it lead?’ you stretch as you walk, working some of the kinks out from yesterdays run.

“I’m not really sure, can’t get it open wide enough to go through. I figured its just what separates this room from the outside…” Shadow Alex pauses, “But after that whore noise and maybe a core shit not sure any more.”

‘What does it have like a chain lock or something?’ you furrow your brow at that thought.

“Seems that way, yeah,” she confirms, “Why the sudden interest?”

‘I went exploring down nostalgia lane and got a bit curious about it,’ you admit, thinking about everything you found last night.

“Ah, have fun?” Shadow Alex has a smile in her voice.

‘More or less,’ you nearly walk into a low hanging branch, something you take a sigh to confirm you’re still going the right way, ‘You and Kat seemed to have plenty of fun this morning.’

“Well, I may have had more fun than her, but yeah,” Shadow Alex’s smug tone comes back.

‘Hmm well what do you think of Kat sleeping in your room becoming a habit?’ you ask, honestly curious, ‘Actually how’d that happen in the first place..?’

“Probably when mirror match wore out, likely dragged her with me,” she guesses, “Her sleeping there a habit though..?”

‘Don’t like it?’ you ask surprised at her hesitence.

>>
>>39581291

“It’d make it harder to do things while we sleep is all…” Shadow Alex grumbles, “Not that we have in a while.”

You suppress a laugh, ‘That’s all you have against it?’

Shadow Alex is quiet for a moment while the gears turn, “Yeah I think so.”

‘Hm, well its something to think about I guess,’ you hum as you turn onto Anna’s street, ‘So got any ideas on how to help Anna get past this shit?’

“Fuck if I know,” she responds with a mental shrug, “Best guess is just be there for her? Maybe get her to talk to the chick she stabbed?”

‘So about as best I could figure then,’ you hum, watching house numbers and looking for Anna on a porch.

“Not a big surprise that,” Shadow Alex comments.

You’re about to think something sarcastic back when you spot Anna a few houses down. She’s got her head in her hands; her ears flat against her head. She’s wearing jeans, and a red fleece jacket with the sleeves pulled down some.

You slow your pace down to a more casual stroll, as you wonder how to approach this.

>Sit next to her, wait for her to say something.

You don’t say a word as you take a seat on the bench next to her, some small shifts later and you’ve found a comfortable spot to sit and wait patiently for her to say something.

It takes some time before she leans back with a weak laugh, “I may have lied a bit, when you asked me how I was doing.”

You give her a small smile, “You don’t have to you know? People won’t know to be there otherwise.”

Anna nods slowly, “I wanted to believe it, more than anything.”

“Yeah?” you ask rhetorically, not knowing what to say, “How are you really then?”

Anna mouth opens a couple of times to say something, before she sighs, “Not… not good, I mean, after it happened and she was healed and fine I thought it wouldn’t be so bad because she’s okay now.”

“But its not,” you finish for her when she trails off.

“I think the worst is the dreams,” Anna looks at you, her face downcast, “I’m almost tempted to ask for a wish to make this go away… but I’d be running from it.”

She looks down to the ground again, and speaks in a near whisper, “I don’t know what to do.”

>If you want to face it, we could call her and meet up.

“If you want to face it, we could call her?” you offer, watching her for a bit before adding, “If you don’t want to do it alone I can go with you.”

Anna chews on it for a while before shaking her head, “No… I don’t think I want to,” she swallows hard, “I mean, she either thinks nothing of it, and blows it off when we go to meet… or she really hates me for it and explodes at me.”

“Or even worse, she meets up and doesn’t say anything,” Anna gives you a desperate look, “I.. I don’t think I could handle that Alex.”

You pull her into a hug, one that she flinches away from at first, before slowly relaxing into it. Anna turns to face you, and buries her face against your shoulder; her arms wrap around you, shaking. A lump forms in your throat as you feel just how fragile Anna is right now. Her breathing is shallow, and you feel a wet spot start to form where her face is pressed into you.

You swallow hard as you gently hold her.

After some time, Anna chokes back her silent sobs and pulls away with puffy eyes. She gives a weak laugh, “Here I am crying into your shoulder, and I haven’t even known you a week,” she rubs her eyes trying to clear the evidence.

Honestly, I think that's the end of what I can do today. It's been hard for me to make these updates, as my moods something foul today.

Probably just woke up on the wrong side of the bed but I need to go do something to unwind. I really wanted to write more today but just not feeling it.

So here's the usual:

Thanks for the thread boss. Hit up some vidya gaems and feel better. Nothing like beating someone or something to death in virtual environment to help you unwind.
