You are Randal Tallstag, a young lord of House Tallstag, one of the great five noble houses of the kingdom of Whitestar. There has been much trouble in Whitestar the past few years and your house has fallen greatly because of it. Barbarians from the far North have invaded your kingdom and stolen much of its land, nearly wiping out your entire noble house save for you and a few others in your family, namely your father and your uncle and his family.

Your house along with the other great houses, have been called to the capital of Whitestar, the city of Snowhaven. This great city is where the king resides with his family, the Frostclaws. After attending your coming of age ceremony, you have chosen to join the King's Rangers, and will leave to join them in three days time.

(Copying the last post from the previous thread since all you guys went to sleep)

”I don’t know what to say Trista.” you say, rather shocked.

“Its alright, you don’t have to say anything,” Trista says coldly “I saw the way you looked at Princess Lydia last night, I can tell you have feelings for her. Just reject me, choose her and be done with it.” She begins to walk off.

“Look,” you say grabbing her by the arm, “just give me some time to...think this through, my head is a mess right now.”

“At least we can agree on that,” Trista interjects.

“We can talk about this later if you’d like, you’re my closest friend Trista. I care about you a lot. But there is a lot I’m going through, just give me time. That’s all I ask.”

Trista sighs and turns to face you. “Alright Randal, I’ll give you the time and space you need, but we should talk about this eventually. I love you a lot, and all I want is for you to be happy,” she says with a smile, “Now let’s go get our gear and enjoy the day.”

You agree and you and Trista head to the market. You’re glad she is so understanding, its always been a good quality of hers. You’re glad with how well that all went, most girls you know would have flipped out and yelled. But Trista is made of better quality stuff, you’re glad to have her as a friend.

After a few more minutes of walking, you reach the market district. Where do you stop by first?

We promised ourselves to the princess by asking her to wait for us.
Unless you really want to be a man who's word is worthless and break a promise not even a day after giving it.
So no implications. It just is.

You decide to head to a nearby indoor book shop that you spotted. You walk in with Trista following closely. Once inside you spot an elderly man with a long beard overlooking a tome. He doesn’t seem to notice you. You make a grunting noise to get his attention.

“Oh! You startled me there young man! But please come in, come in!” he beckons, “Have a look at my wares, I have a wide selection of books for you to choose from. At a fair price too!”

You nod towards the elderly man and begin looking around the shop for books that could help you for when you are a King’s Ranger. After 15 minutes or so of browsing you and Trista find a few books you think could help you both out. Four books in all titled “A history and codex of the King’s Rangers”, “A Guide to Tracking and Hunting as a Ranger”, “Rules and Regulations of the King’s Rangers”, and lastly “Basic Ranger Combat and Tactics”.

“Hey Randal, if we can share the books and I’ll split the prices of whichever ones we get with you,” says Trista with excitement.

“Alright you got a deal.”

You bring the four books up to the counter. The old man inspects each of the books and rubs his beard.

“Hmmm, will you be taking all of these books or only some of them?”

In which case it would have to be worked out, but we don't know if we'll be drafted. Do we have any siblings? I think if we are an only child we will be kept out to carry on the house name.

“We’ll take all of them,” you say, “ but before we pay, do you have any books on first aid? Perhaps herbal remedies or magic?”

“Hmmm let me think,” ponders the old book keeper, he strokes his beard for a few seconds and mumbles to himself, “Ah ha! Seeing as you’re becoming a Ranger I’d suggest you take this.”

The old man hands you a book entitled “Outdoor First Aid and Herbal Remedies” it is priced at 10 gold as well.

“Alright we’ll take all of them,” you confirm.

“Splendid, but because you’re joining the King’s Rangers I’ll give you “Outdoor First Aid and Herbal Remedies” and “A history and codex of the King’s Rangers” for free, consider it a gift for you two young folks for servicing our kingdom. Now then that’ll be 24 gold pieces.”

“Thank you very much sir, you have done me a great kindness, I owe you one.” You say, giving a slight bow.

“That won’t be necessary, my son was a ranger, and he told me that King’s Rangers were some of the best people he ever met. I help them out whenever I can.”

With that you and Trista split the price of 24 gold, and head on your way.

You decide to buy the long bow and 30 regular steel tipped arrows. You remember how hard it was learning the ways of the long bow as a young boy. How your father would make you practice every day with it, and how you killed your first stag with it when you were 15. Those were good days.

You notice Trista selects the short bow and a set of normal arrows, you’ll probably have to give her pointers on the way to the King’s Rangers headquarters. Archery was never really Trista’s forte. She would much rather fight hand to hand, that was where she really shined.

You both pay for your equipment and head on your way.

Trista agrees and you both walk over to the general store. Inside there is a young couple at the counter, the smile and greet the both of you as you walk in. You both greet them in kind and go about your business looking for camping or survival essentials. To your luck you find some traveler’s packs in the store that come with most of what you’ll need, it includes the following: a compass, a map of the kingdom, a bed roll, flint and steel, 20ft of rope, a cooking pot, a backpack, 7 days worth of dry rations, a glass bottle, a fish hook, traveler’s clothes, a waterskin, and a few pieces of parchment. The pack is priced at 30 gold. You also find a mortar and pestle that’s been used priced at 2 gold, a holy symbol of The Three priced at 1 gold, and a bottle of Redmyer wine year 3352 priced at 10 gold. “Let’s head to the Great Church of The Three,” you say, “we can pick up something to eat on the way there.”

“Awesome! I haven’t had a chance to go there yet!”

You both head off to the church, with all of your new found gear in tow. On the way you each pick up some turkey legs from a street vendor costing you a gold each.
You devour the turkey legs with haste while walking toward the center of the city where the church lay.

Once you arrive, you are awestruck for yet another time by the impressive architecture of the church. You had just seen it yesterday, but it felt like it was for the first time again. After admiring the building for a few more minutes, you and Trista step inside. Immediately Trista walk over to the section for the Sindas, the Goddess of love, fertility, sex, mothers, and childbirth.

“I’m going to head over here and talk to the priestess for Sindas and pray as well. I’ve always wanted to pray to her here in the Great Church,” she says briskly with a smile.

“Alright I’m going to take a look around.”

You worry to yourself that maybe Trista is praying to Sindas for you to love her. It would make sense with her confession of her love to you. After all, for the past several years you know she almost entirely prayed to Sindas, but you never asked, but now you’re certain you know.

While pondering on this an elderly church priest walks up to you and asks, “Is there anything I can do for you my child?”

You ask the priest to give you a tour of the church. At this the priest smiles and obliges with your request.

“We’ll begin the tour with a brief history of the church. The Great Church of the Three was built almost a thousand years ago, coinciding with the founding of the kingdom, it was the largest architectural undertaking of the kingdom until the palace began construction twenty years later.”

The priest continues talking about the history of the church and the amazing feat by man spread through the realm. How it was decreed that no other church building in the kingdom was allowed to be built larger than the Great Church of the Three, or the Great Church for short. However, once you walk over to the large column statue of Tor, who is depicted as a man wielding a shield and a spear of lightning, he shifts gears.

“Ah here we are, the God Tor. As I’m sure you know, Tor is the God of war, storms, the forge, and soldiers. Tor was the God who mainly forged The Ice and allowed for the construction of the five great ice forges throughout the kingdom.”

Passing past Tor’s statue and section of the church you move onto the God Arieman’s column statue along with his section of the church. Arieman is depicted as and elderly man with a great beard and carrying The Book of Law.

“This is the God Arieman, who is the oldest and wisest among The Three. Arieman is the God of law, the harvest, peacetime, and scholars. It was Arieman who originally came up with the plan to forge The Ice in order to free man from slavery at the elves’ hands.”

Lastly, you head over to Sindas’ great column statue and section of the church. The Goddess is depicted a buxom and beautiful young woman with a daisy in her hand. You notice Trista praying at the feet of the statue. She looks up at you, smiles with a blush and continues back to her praying.

“And finally here we have the Goddess Sindas. She is the Goddess of love, fertility, sex, childbearing, and mothers. She was responsible for sending word to mankind that they would soon be freed from the elves’ rule. That is the general tour. Is there anything else ypu wpuld like to know?” the priest asks.

”Tell me more about Tor, please,” you ask, “I’d like to know more about him.”

“Very well then,” the priest says as he guides you back across the church to Tor’s statue. “Tor, like I said, is the God of war, storms, the forge, and soldiers. However he also has domain over hunting, the forests and mountains, and is even worshiped by plenty of dwarves to the East of our kingdom. It is said that an army followed by a massive front of thunder snow is favored by him in battle.”

You remember your father praying for thunder snow to follow his army when went off to fight the barbarians.

The priest continues, “Tor, like the other two Gods, takes delight in prayers towards him, but he also takes delight in worshiping him while forging a weapon, not matter what it may be. Tor likes offerings of weapons, forge hammers, and animal meats from a fresh hunt to be left at his altars. Praying to him before a hunt is said to bring good luck, and that if you spot white stag while hunting, your are actually seeing Tor in avatar form and are greatly favored by him.Would you like to hear about the other two Gods or is there anything else I can help you with?”

”Tell me more about Arieman please,” you ask.

“A wise choice,” the priest smiles, “Arieman is the God of law, the harvest, peacetime, and scholars. He also holds domain over diplomacy, plains and cities, and is held in high regards by the council members. Those that Arieman favors are said to be visited by a great white owl on a full moon. Arieman loves prayers to him just as the other two gods, but he favors those who leave tomes, hourglasses, magical staves, and bushels of fresh cut crops at his altars. Those with the powers of visions are said to be gifted by Arieman.”

You think of Princess Lydia, she said she was born with the power of visions. You assume she must be greatly favored by Arieman then.

Continuing, the priest states, “Arieman is not known to have an avatar form, but rather, can speak through those that he has gifted with visions. That is all for Arieman, would you like to know more about Sindas? Or is there anything else I can help you with?”

She also has domain over rivers and lakes, gardening and is prayed to the most by single women, looking to have those they admire to fall in love with them. Those that Sindas favors are said to have eyes as blue as ice and raven hair or red hair like that of a rose.”

Thinking on that, it reminds you of both Princess Lydia and Trista. You actually think to yourself that Sindas is toying with you by having two of her favored children vying for your affection.

Th priest continues, “ Sindas adores offerings of flowers, scented candles, locks of hair from children, and aphrodisiacs. Sindas’ avatar form is said to be of a white fox with three white fox cubs following her, those that witness this avatar form are said to have their true love wed them the following week and bear many children. That is all for Sindas, would you like to pray or will you be on your way?”

oh, and you have 15 mins to reach a decision.

Why pray to sindas? We're going to be a fighter in the north, not a lover. Tor would fit us more.
>>
>>39596820
I'm going to stick with Tor but we can go talk to Trista afterwards I mean we came there with her.
>>
>>39596882
So we don't get killed by the two fighting beauties.
Yeah that's it, mostly to wish us luck in that romanto-political trouble ahead of us.

That said, we could always pray to all three gods.
We will need knowledge and wisdom to weed out the traitors.
We will need strength and courage to face the enemies that come.
We will need love and compassion for our friends to keep them true and strong (and to solve that little trouble)

You decide to take you leave of the priest and go pray to the God Tor. You head over to Tor’s statue, kneel down, and begin praying. In your prayer you ask Tor to grant you strength and courage on your upcoming journey. You also ask Tor to provide you and your loved ones for protection from your enemies and to give strength to you allies. After your prayer you remain kneeling and silent for a few minutes, to reflect on what you’ve said and what you will do.

After a few more minutes of quiet contemplation, you feel a tap on your shoulder. You look up to see Trista smiling.

“Are you ready to go Randal?”

“Yes, I am, did your praying do you well?”

“Very much so. I feel a lot better now. So where should we head to now? We’ve got a few more hours before dinner. My offer to relax at my place still stands by the way.”

“Actually that sounds nice Trista, I’d like to relax for a while. I also have that wine from the general store, we could try that out.”

Trista’s eyes widen and she cracks a big smile. “Oh Randal I’d absolutely love some wine. They day has been long and I could go for a glass while we relax.”

“Then its settled we’ll do that,” you say returning the smile.

You and Trista then head out of the Great Church of The Three and walk towards Wolfshield estate, making talk about the items you purchased today and other small talk. Trista doesn’t seem to be mad at you anymore like she was this morning, you’re glad for that and hope it stays that way. A few minutes later you find yourselves at the front door of the manor. Tristaopens it and lets you inside.

Upon entering you find that Lord and Lady Wolfshield are nowhere to be found.
Trista finds a note that says they went out for the evening and won’t be back until later tonight.

“Well I guess that means we have the house to ourselves,” says Trista after reading the letter, “Tyrel won’t be back until this evening either when his training is finished. Oh and Randal I’m going to go upstairs and change into some comfortable clothes, could you get some wine glasses from the kitchen and set them up with the wine in the living room? We can relax there.”

“Sure thing,” you oblige, fetching the wine glasses as Trista heads upstairs.

You get the wine glasses put and set them on the table overlooking the living room fireplace as you take a seat on the couch, it feels good to relax after a long day.

After a few minutes Trista comes downstairs with her hair let down and in a lounge dress. Trista is certainly one for changing appearances drastically. One moment she’s a tomboy the next she’s a stunning beautiful lady.

“Oh good, I’m glad your relaxing already,” says Trista. “Now that you are, I was wondering if we could continue our conversation from this morning?”

>”Certainly Trista, the day has allowed me to clear my head, I’m ready to talk about it.”

You still feel quite nervous talking about love and relationships with your childhood friend, so you figure that you’ll need to drink some wine to help calm your nerves before talking about it.

“Uhh I don’t know yet, maybe if I drink have a few drinks of wine I’ll be ready to talk about it hahaha,” you laugh nervously.

“Thats fine Randal, I think I’ll have a drink as well,” responds Trista calmly as she pours you and herself a glass.

Trista hands you your glass, she is about to take a drink before you stop her. “Wait,” you say, “before we drink, let’s toast...as friends.

Trista smiles and nods in agreement.

“To us, the soon to be best rangers in all of the King’s Rangers, and throughout the realm!” You announce with cheer.

Trista responds, “To us.”

You toast your glasses and each of you drink your wine. After a few minutes you both finishes you glasses and set them down. Trista moves herself closer to you and puts her hands on yours and faces you.

“Okay Randal are you ready to talk now?”

You feel a little nervous still but that glass of wine really helped. “Yes I’m ready, but I’ll ket yo say what you have to say. Then I’ll respond. Okay?”
>>
>>39599141
Trista nods in agreement, “Deal.” Tista lets out a sigh, “Okay, Randal, Like I said this morning, I love you, and I have loved you for a long time. I started falling for you when we were both around 15, after you had killed your first stag in the annual winter hunt. You’re a brave and just man. You’re very bright, even if you are a bit of a dumbass who gets into trouble from time to time. But most of all Randal, you’ve always been kind to me, more so than any other man. You’ve never judged me or ridiculed me for my tomboyish ways, and I’m ever thankful for that. I want to love you and return all the kindness you’ve shown me by tenfold. I really do love you Randal, and I’d do absolutely anything to make you happy. I feel that I can make you happier than anyone else can, if you’ll let me. So what do you say Randal? Will you let me make you happy?”

>”I...wow Trista, I never knew you felt that way about me, but now that you’ve confessed ypur feelings, I’m sure now that I feel the same way. So how is it you want to make me happy?”
>”I-I see, but Trista, while I have the same feelings for you, I also have feelings for Princess Lydia too, and I already promised myself to her.”

Trista looks into your eyes for a moment, then sighs deeply again.

“Randal, I can tell your telling the truth, but allow me to speak it as well. You just met her and you promised yourself to her, to me that sounds like it was in the heat of the moment. But with me, you’ve known me for nearly your whole life, and you love me as I love you. What we have, is real love, what your are feeling for Lydia is either lust or a shallow love. I know for a fact she doesn’t love you as much as I do. I also know I can make you happier than she can. No will you let me make you happy?”

“Well how is it that you want to make me happy Trista?” you ask.

Trista smiles and jumps up on to your lap with her legs wrapped around you, she begins to massage your shoulders slowly and she whispers into your ear, “I can make you happy inmany ways, but right now I offer you my body, and I am still a virgin.”

premarital sex, while discouraged, is not taboo or unheard of, even among lords and ladies. Life is short for humans, and Sindas even encourages SOME sexual promiscuity, mainly as a way to help mankind grow.

being a virgin when one is married is desirable but it is not an affront to the gods, in fact most men and women are sexually active before marriage

Your mother never held any grudges toward your father for being sexually active before they wed.

Some quick feedback, Chills! Last thread seemed to be very dull in what we were doing, not because we weren't fighting, but because we just seemed to robotically stand there and talk. I'd like some descriptions of expressions as we talk to people, sorta like you're doing now with Trista wanting us. Also tired as fuck right now, so that's all I can coherently give. Otherwise, I knew this was going to interesting places.

”I’m sorry Trista, but I’m still undecided, and that’s my final word.” You say, gently pushing her off of you. It wasn’t easy to say that, but you knew it was the right choice. You look at Trista and you see her eyes welling up with tears, but she is remaining silent.

Ah shit, you’ve gone and done it now. You figure you better say something to cheer her up somewhat.

“Look...Trista,” you mutter, looking for words to say, “I know this is hard for you but, it’s hard for me as well. We are talking about love here, and...and my heart just doesn’t know what it wants right now.” You put your hand on her shoulder to comfort her. “I love both you and the princess right now, but I don’t know who I love more, I care about bot of you very much but I just can’t pick one of you right now, I’m sorry. It’s just too early to decide yet, I’m going to need far more time. I hope you don’t despise me.”

“....I *sniff* I don’t despise you Randal,” mumbles Trista holding back tears, “How can I? You remain steadfast*sniff* in the face of temptation and you are a man of your word. There...there are few men who can claim to be like you.” Trista is starting to have trouble forming words now she’s crying so much.

“Please don’t cry Trista, I can’t bear it much longer,” you say pitifully.

“I-I can’t help it!” She says finally bursting into tears and sadness. Her cries echo throughout the house.

>kiss her passionately and say “Don’t worry Trista, just remember I love you and that no matter what I always will, besides we’ll be ranger together, won’t that be fun?”

You move next to Trista and lift up her face to see yours. She stops crying for the moment and that’s when you move in to kiss her passionately as you wrap your arms around her. You can feel her heartbeat racing and flutter. After a few more long momements of kissing, you move your head back to see her face. She is utterly shocked, so much so that she has stopped crying altogether.

You speak saying, “Don’t worry Trista, just remember I love you and that no matter what I always will. Besides we’ll be rangers together, won’t that be fun?”

Trista still has that shocked look on her face, but after a few seconds she snaps to. “...Oh! Yes Randal you have a point, and I feel the same way. I too will always love you, no matter what. But I think the recent events have taken my remaining energy out of me.” Trist rises up from the couch as do you. She begins to head up the stairs but stops and walks back to hug you. “Thank you Randal, for the wonderful day you’ve given me, and I’m sorry for crying in front of you.”

“Think nothing of it Trista, now you said you were tired, so go get some sleep.” you say as you pat her on the back and release her.

“Alright, and Randal... you should head home and get some rest too.” She says with a smile as she walks up the stairs.

When you hear Trista’s door close you gather your things and head out to go home. When you walk outside you notice its starting to get pretty dark as the sun has already set. You hurry home and find that your father still hasn’t come back yet. He must be very busy today to be out this late. You don’t think much of it and head to bed.

Okay, I can still keep going guys, but what about you? I don’t really want of repeat of last night.

So what is the view on polygyny by society and by Sindas?
>>
>>39602670
polygamy is taboo by both the gods and society, but you know of past lords and kings who had several lovers whilst only having one wife by law, and even rarer a few ladies who did the same but with men.
