You are Randal Tallstag, a young lord of House Tallstag, one of the great five noble houses of the kingdom of Whitestar. There has been much trouble in Whitestar the past few years and your house has fallen greatly because of it. Barbarians from the far North have invaded your kingdom and stolen much of its land, nearly wiping out your entire noble house save for you and a few others in your family, namely your father and your uncle and his family.

After being made an official King's Rangerby the King of Whitestar himself, you and Trista are being taken north by fellow rangers to the headquarters. You have been traveling for one day but were attacked in the night by bandits. However, you managed to defeat them. You now begin your second and final day marching towards the ranger's headquarters.

Trista wakes you up in the early morning hours as it is your turn to take last watch. You get dressed and go outside to the camp. You sit by the fire and toss a few bits of wood every now and then to keep it going. Nothing of note catches your attention as you stand guard. Towards the end of your shift you watch as the sun slowly rises over the land, creating hues of purple, orange and red throughout the sky as the darkness fades. Birds begin chirping in the trees and slowly everyone else in the camp begins to wake up.

You all eat breakfast together, pack up the campsite and begin heading out again on the road north to the ranger headquarters. After an about two hours of traveling, Lieutenant Starwood informs you that you’ll soon be passing through the small town of Waterrun in a few hours, where you’ll break for lunch. You could get in some conversation before you do though.

You decide to first ask Lieutenant Starwood about Waterrun, seeing as you’ve never been there before and that you’ll be arriving there in a few hours.

“Excuse me sir,” you ask as you ride up next to the lieutenant, “but what can you tell me about Waterrun? I’ve never heard of or been to the place before.”

“Ah, well its a small town of about 150 people, located at the border of the highlands and low riverlands.” The lieutenant continues, “It sits right next to a waterfallflowing down fromthe highlands, so it’s got a lumber mill there as its main job source for the townsfolk. Its also the closest town to the headquarters, since its only half a day’s ride away, making it the main place where our supplies come from. That being the case, all the towsnfolk are very pleasant to us and we do our best to keep trouble from happening there.”

“I see, and we’re who they go to in case of any trouble?” you ask.

“Exactly, so during and after your training you’ll be doing patrols in and around the town. Nothing to exciting happens, just the occasional thief or some sort,” the Lieutenant adds.
With that you thank Lieutenant Starwood for the info and decide to go back and talk to Robert.

“Hey Robert, how are those wounds treating you?” you ask, pulling your horse up next to his.

“Greetings Randal!” Robert says with a smile, you could hardly tell he was fighting for his life last night, were it not for his bandages. “And they are fine, they just hurt when I try to move but not too badly.”

“That’s good to hear, I hope you heal quickly,” you add with a smile.

“Thank you, Randal, and they should, it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been injured. I just need to get better at fighting, I hope to be as good as Sariel is.”

That reminds you, last night Sariel was very elegant yet decisive in her fighting last night. You’ve never seen anything like it so you decide to ask her about it.

“Say Sariel,” you call out to her, as she’s been riding behind you quietly, “that fighting style of yours, I’ve never seen anything like it before, could you tell me about it?”

“Sure,” Sariel turns her attention to you. “Its a combination of an elvish fighting technique my father taught me and the ranger fighting styles I’ve picked up in my service, its not easy to learn, and even harder to master, you must train your mind and body extensively to become good at it.”

So that’s what it was, you knew something was strange about the way she fought. It was that elvish way of fighting that you’ve only heard stories about.

“Alright, well thank you for telling me,” you say. You all continue riding north, after a few hours the town of Water run comes into view. You see a massive water fall feeding the river that flows out from the town. Along the road there are people pushing carts and carriages carrying supplies and lumber to and from the village. You all arrive in the village and Lieutenat Star wood says to break for lunch as he goes to talk to the village leader. You are to meet at the town square in a hour and a half.

Robert says he’s going to get his wounds checked up on by the village doctor, leaving you alone with Trista and Sariel.

“Hey I have an idea, why don’t the we go eat by the waterfall?” You say to Trista. “And Sariel, you’re welcome to come along as well,” you add, not wanting her to be left out.

Trista smiles as the three of you begin walking towards the waterfall. “That sounds great Randal, it should be a lovely sight.”

“I agree,” adds Sariel, “Its one of my favorite spots to meditate at whenever I’m here in town, good choice Randal.”

The three of you walk down the street towards the waterfall. After walking past the lumber mill located on the river running through town, you all find a nice spot on the rocks located not too far from the base of the waterfall and sit down to eat.

“Say, Sariel,” you ask her, “Would it be possible for you to train me in your fighting style?”

“Hmmm it can be done,” she says while meditating “however, I cannot train you as you currently are right now. You must first learn to fight as a ranger, and for that you’ll need to be trained at headquarters and learn the ways of the ranger.”

“I understand,” you say somewhat disappointed, “but after that you’d be willing to train me to fight like you?”

“Of course, but it won’t be easy,” she says taking a short pause, “you’re aren’t the first person to ask me to train them, and so far, none have passed. Everyone that has tried my training has failed within the first month of it, but perhaps you can be the first to pass it.”

“Well then, I guess I need to pass ranger basic training first before any of that then,” you surmise.
“Yes, that is the most important thing you need to do before I can consider you for training. Now then I’m going to be here a while to meditate, feel free to explore the town without me."

After that Sariel goes back to quietly meditating. You noticed she always keeps that mask on over her face, and that she’s not eating, and when she does she doesn’t remove the mask, she just slightly opens her mask and eats small bites of food at a time. It’s pretty strange, but you figure it would be rude to ask her about it right now.

You’re famished from the long ride, so you pull out some dry rations and begin eating. Its nit he best tasting food but it fills you up, besides you kind of like the taste of salted deer jerky, though you’re not fond of the dry bread. You wash down your meal with a few chugs from your water skin.

“Hey Trista,” you say wiping your mouth, “Do you want to go and explore the town for a bit?”
Trista finishes her lunch and speaks up, “I’d love to Randal! That sounds fun.”

With that, you both go exploring the small town, you first pass by the lumber mill, where there are plenty of people hard at work lifting and cutting logs down into usable lumber. You continue walking and see some children playing knights and goblins in the streets, you remember how you Trista, Tyrel and the other boys and girls would play that game when you were younger. You always wanted to be a knight or the goblin chief. You then find yourselves near the edge of town where there is a shop selling antiques for a cheap price. There is also an inn next to the shop. Trista also seems to be fidgeting about and she is blushing quite a bit.

“Trista, you’re blushing quite a bit, is there something wrong?” You ask in a concerned tone.

After a moment of silence, Trista finally works up the courage to talk to you. “Well...you see Randal. I was wondering, what did you think of last night? Was I pleasing to you?”

“Of course Trista!” you say reassuring her, “You know that I enjoyed it, it was the best night of my life.”

“Good, I was actually worried that you might have not enjoyed it. Seeing as how you do, and now that we’re alone. Would you like to fuck me before we head out on the road? I’ll be quick I promise.” She says with a look that is begging for you to say yes.

You’re surprised by her question, you ask stupidly in response, ”What? Do people actually do that? In the middle of the day?”

“Of course they do...at least I think so.” Trista says with a puzzled look on her face. She gets a bit frustrated and stammers, “Look, do you want to fuck me or not?”

”Well you’re just straightforward is all, but sure, we can find a secluded place,”you say.

No sooner than when those words leave your mouth, Trista grabs you by the hand and leads you to a secluded alley in a rush. With out saying a word she pins you against the alley wall and starts kissing you repeatedly on the lips. She undoes your belt and pants, grabs your cock and rubs it with her hands as she continues to kiss you.

After a moment she takes a step back back whilst breathing heavily, she undoes her pants as well and jumps on you. You grab her as she wraps her legs around your waste, ypu hold her up and slip your cock into her, she lets out a loud moan, luckily no one hears it. You begin to move your cock in and out of her pussy, each time your cock goes in her pussy seems to tighten around your cock. You build up sped slowly over the course of a few minutes, all the while Trista’s body begins sweating and pulsating with each movement. She has the look of utter ecstasy painted across her face as she begins to drool. You grin and move faster and faster.

“Don’t stop, I’m n-nearly..THERE!” she yells as she orgasms.

You release your seed inside her with several strong thrusts from your cock as you both collapse on the alley floor.

“Mmmmm,” Trista grins, “That was even better than last night.”

>”We should probably get going now, don’t want to be late.”

”I just hope no one heard us, you were screaming quite loudly,” you say jokingly. Trista punches you in the arm for saying that.

”Well its not my fault you‘re so good at pleasing me!” she yells.

You laugh, “Fair enough but let's get back out of here before we're found."

Trista confirms, “Good idea.”

You both get dressed and start walking out of the alley towards the street. However, as you do you hear men’s voice coming from the street.

“Did you guys hear that? Sounded like someone was fuckin’ in the alley,” one voice says.

“Yeah I heard it, let’s check it out,” another voice calls out.

“Me too, hey, wait up!”

Trista looks at you with a worried face, she doesn’t want to be caught and embarrassed like this. You look behind you and see that another alley intersects the one you’re on. There are also some barrels you could hide in as well, nd lastly you see a door leading into a shop right next to you.

You decide to make a run for it, you tell Trista to follow you and to keep up. The voices from the street get louder as they approach the alley. You begin running with Trista in tow.

Your wound to your leg from yesterday slows you down, but you and Trista manage to make it down the alley and around the corner in time.

“Hey, no one’s here!” you hear a voice yell.

“I heard footsteps, they must’ve run off.” says another.

“Well shit, guess we won’t find out who it was then.” says another voice with a disappointed tone. “Was really wanting to see the beauty that made those moans.”

You keep walking down the alley as the voices fade. You and Trista laugh off the close encounter and make it into the street. You both walk back to the town square to meet up with the rest of the group. You all saddle up and head into the highlands beyond the village. The highlands are covered with grass, though it’s now browned from the autumn weather. There are spots of green that dot the landscape, little groves of evergreen trees though there is a massive evergreen forest not too far to the west and mountains off in the distance to the north.

Your group travels for a few hours, continually heading north. Night begins to fall as the headquarter for the rangers comes into view, a castle with large towers jutting up from the middle of the highlands like a rock out cropping. The road leads by a small grove of evergreen trees.

“Not much further now,” calls out Lieutenant Starwood from the front. “We are almost-”

“Sir lookout!” yells Robert.

The lieutenant turns to late to see a large snow wolf pounce and knock him off his horse. He tumbles to the ground and gets up and readies himslef as does the wolf that knocked him down. You see more wolves come out of the grove, quickly surrounding your group. The horses become spooked and begin bucking wildly. The rest of you dismount before you get thrown off. When you do the horses charge off towards the castle, leaving your group to deal with the wolves yourself. There are about seven wolves in total.

The wolf keeps pacing around you, looking for openings and growling, but not attacking. After a minute or so you figure you must make a move. You prepare yourself begin moving slowly towards the wolf.

You start moving towards the wolf by slowly walking, but you then move into a slight jog and then into a run at the wolf with your sword ready to strike. The wolf sees this and tries to move out of the way but you’re to fast for him.

You strike at the wolf and your sword strikes true, piercing the wolf through the neck. The wolf falls over with a howl as it bleeds out and dies quickly.

It is at that point, the alpha wolf, who was attacking Lieutenant Starwood, notices what you’ve done. As you rush in to aid your friends, the alpha blocks your path. He’s not going to let yoi pass easily.

The alpha wolf charges you, but you’ll be damned if you just sit there and take it again. You charge straight forward at him. The alpha wolf jumps up in the area to punce you again, but you’re on to him and read the attack.

You bring up your left hand, still holding the dagger, and drive it into his chest from under him. You turn your left arm to knock down the wolf on to the ground. The wolf land with a yelp and the dagger still in his chest. You then bring down your longsword into its neck, killing it instantly

At the sight of their alpha dying, the reaming wolves howl and retreat off into the night.
Everyone sighs a sign of relief as the wolves escape. You then hear hooves trampling on the road. You look up to see men riding towards you from the castle.

“Lieutenant Starwood, is that you?” one of the men shout.

“Yes, we were ambushed by some wolves but we’re fine now,” he says wiping the sweat from his brow.

“Good to know, we saw your horses running down the road and saw that one of them was yours. They were quite spooked so we came to investigate. We’ll escort you back to the castle and have you taken care of.”

You all agree and follow the mounted rangers back to the castle. Your group approaches the great iron gate of the castle, the torch light illuminating the tall black walls. The moon comes out from behind the clouds and illuminates the towers of the castle.

“Welcome,” greets one of the mounted rangers, “to Highspire Castle, headquarters and home to the rangers.”

calling it a night here folks, sorry if its short but writing for a quest several days in a row does get exhausting.

As always, comments questions and criticisms are welcome.

I''ll stick around for a while and answer questions.

How do you guys like the story so far? Have thoughts or questions?
>>
>>39659833
Oh I'll probably run again on Saturday or Sunday.

Keep an eye on the twitter just in case though.

Going places, picking up speed. I think for the next few traveling segments, fast travel to reach plot might be better unless it's an important fight. Random encounters with wolves are totally possible, but it feels kinda pointless and given that we have a plot to follow, it feels like it'd drag it out.

My opinion anyway, so don't value it too much.

Your writing is getting a bit better, you're doing much better with imagery and describing actions. My only complaint that I fear I harp on is punctuation to better break up sentences. But again, you're steadily improving and it's starting to be pretty good.

I think my only completely personal style choice complaint is the lewds. I'm never here to vote for it, so I suppose it doesn't matter, but I'd rather have some fade to blacks. Again, plot ahoy, filling it with smut feels like you're trying to provide too much. But this is a super personal style choice, so if others are okay with it, ignore me.
>>
>>39659968
thanks anon! I'm glad to hear I'm getting better. I do feel like I'm slowly improving.

I'll try to start picking up more pace with the plot.

Also I'm going to start throwing in fade to blacks as well, but I'm going to have occasional lewds kept in.

Thanks for the feedback anon!

Do you have any questions by the way.

>>39660050
Nope, I think you're answering most everything I'd want to know as we go along. We're King's Rangers, we know roughly what to expect when we go through training, we know mostly what Trista thinks about us. The only thing I'd want to know is story relevant stuff that I'm sure will be revealed later.
>>
>>39660095
cool, let me ask you one. How do you feel about Trista? in regards to her character that is and her relationship with Randal?
>>
>>39660198
She seems to be a typical story heroine, and I'm okay with that. She loves Randal and seems to be a naughty girl in bed, which is fine. And she's fairly typical in that she was praying to Sindas, the specific deity for love, fertility, etc. A good contrast to us who prayed to Tor, and Lydia who seems to get her powers from the third God. I'm also one of the few that was pushing a harem, but I dunno how well it'll work and I wonder if there shouldn't be major repercussions with Trista if we try, and with Lydia if we don't. We did promise Lydia and all. I'd rather not have an angry father King try something silly because his daughter might usurp him with her powers.

>I'd rather not have an angry father King try something silly because his daughter might usurp him with her powers.
That sentence makes no sense. Let me try again.

If the King gets protective of his daughter, so she's basically usurping the throne by using her powers to put things in place, I'd be concerned of what could happen to Randal.

Also, I just realized I've been describing actions and role in story, and can't characterize Trista very well. Hang on.

Clever, protective, caring. All good traits.

I'm glad someone picked up on what you mentioned about you, Lydia, and Trista and the relation to the gods.

With the regards to a harem, like I've said if you play your cards right,it could be possible. Though just remember, there are consequences to every choice in this quest.

And thanks for the feedback

Who is your favorite character so far apart from Randal? (even though I haven't really developed anyone yet)
>>
>>39660514
I like the little flavor we got with Sariel about her one side love and what she's doing, actually. Everyone else seems like they're just here doing they're thing. Not bad, the world needs folk doing stuff, but Sariel seems interesting.

Otherwise, Trista is fun for her beauty and love, and Lydia would be nice if we could get closer, but that won't be for a while.
>>
>>39660619
neat. Also thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, I really appreciate it.

Also I was meaning to ask, how do you feel about how I handled that nat 100 in the previous thread?
>>
>>39660698
I'll be honest: I'm too tired to remember, haha. I'll let you know in a few minutes when I read back. And no problem, I figure valuable intel for a new QM is a good thing.
>>
>>39660355
I'm all for the harem as well.
>>
>>39660698
Just checked back, yes. That nat 100 was well done, especially since we've prayed to Tor before hand.
>>
>>39660869
alright thanks!

Another question if you don't mind.

What would you like to see more of? Worldbuilding, combat, romance, lewd, character devlopment, etc.
>>
>>39660923
I always go for character development. Tales of games are some of my favorites for it, even if the plots are shitty. Character interactions and building of characters can drive the story for all I care.
>>
>>39660958
good to hear.

I have some character development in the works for a few characters.

Also, just a poll question. Not only for you, but anyone reading this quest, who is best girl?

I've kinda always been interested in the concepts behind waifu wars in quests.
>>
>>39660923
I would like to see more of all of it, except maybe combat. I think combat takes a bit too long. Last thread especially was too long combat, this thread wasn't too bad.

>>39661136
Best girl? Hard to say. We never really spent much time with the princess to be able to compare, so Trista wins by default. Maybe in future if we had some alone time with the princess and get to know her you should ask this question again.

>>39661299
yeah it did feel like the combat dragged on last thread, I'll work on it, though i would like to have some epic battles.

I also plan on developing the princess more

also mfw people want more of my lewd writing in the quest. kek
>>
>>39661426
Maybe try and change the mechanics so that mook battles are quick and faster but for boss battles you could add more maneuvers or extra options. Only important battles should take longer.
>>
>>39661426
I don't mind more lewdness as long as it fits. There is a fine balance, it works well in this type of quest as long as you don't go overboard with the lewds.
>>
>>39661503
I'll see what I can do, but I'm not sure that if I change the mechanics that It would end up being for the better.

>>39661533
that makes sense, I'll do my best to balance it. That being said, how do you feel the lewdness was this thread?
