Or can we fine tune the scanners to find a think tank?

That's better

I reworked the old underdog theme song to be about aegis security

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tEVsRLhet2k the original song
The new lyrics

There's no need to fear! Aegis is here!
when bandits in this world appear
and break the laws that they should fear
and frighten all who see or hear
the cry goes up both far and near
for Aegis! Aegis! Aegis! Aegis!

speed of lightning, roar of thunder
fighting all who rob or plunder
Aegis. Aegis!

when in this world our scanners read
of brood. 'N monsters, 'n zombie creed

That rip and gash and make you bleed

to right this wrong with blinding speed
goes Aegis! Aegis! Aegis! Aegis!

speed of lightning, roar of thunder
fighting all who kill or plunder
Aegis. Aegis!

I posted it last thread but no one responded to it and I feed off of people likening stuff I do.

The damage is from the following sources explosions, rubble, stresses from the outcrop, and finally heat from volcanic activity. The vault due to all those reasons has suffered damage because of it.

The residents themselves besides 'flowerpot' is a mixture of native vault residents and interestingly enough the survivors of the busted bunker and another vault nearby. After that they decided to close themselves off from the surface and concentrate on their problems underground.

A stealth unit has been placed to keep watch.

Consult with Eric, the quarter master, our best engineer, the vault leader, if the vault can be fixed or if we should relocate the residents to our base, strip the vault of everything even there very walls and plant monster traps in the cave left behind.
If the vault can be fixed is it worth fixing?
If the vault can be fixed the residents would need to evacuate each part as its fixed.

Have everyone take a turn on the rss. we will not lye to them what the rss dose, we won't brand wash them, mostly we are just scanning for criminals and if they are willing fix any mental problems and boost there moral and work capacity.

Anomalies were detected within 10 to 17 percent of the population. Such anomalies indicated anywhere from criminal, psi, mental illness, and even MAD.

RSS unit on auto pilot was able to deal with 15% of it leaving 1-2 percent that was missed.

This is due to the following. Exotic natures detected RSS unit was unable to deal with on its basic auto settings. The vault dwellers weren't happy about having to use the things though.

Everyone hunker down and get behind the camo'd defenses, make no sudden movements but be prepared for a fight at any moments notice.

Send out a chopper with some explosives to lay down a path and make noise moving away. Try and draw the horde anywhere but here. Somewhere far away and get them out of here.

As for those we captured, let's interrogate them. Ask em what they know about the local bandits here, and about the Zedders.

Alright now that the Genie is feeling a bit better.

Chopper dispatched to lay down explosives to draw attention away. It works somewhat successfully problem is the zombies are spreading out and sniffing around...they smell man flesh. Due to their spreading it wasn't quite as effective. Luckily though despite their scraping and pawing at the vault door they seem unable to gain entry.

The zombies came very VERY close to discovering our base but luckily the distraction of the chopper drew them away. It was an extremely close call though as they were seen sniffing around the outer perimeter before being drawn off.

Interrogation indicates they know about there being a good number of bandits around despite the relative emptiness and they only know about the zedders through rumor nothing more.

Its scattered apparently they came from a few different bands who came to investigate the big boom.

Rumor wise according to one bandit no one is really sure if the zeds exist as problem is there is no one alive to confirm seeing them because supposedly they only show up once the zombies finish. Meaning there ain't no living or non zombie witnesses to confirm their existence.

>>39667446
According to our psi and rig they noticed an interesting anamoly within the taken bandits.

While MOST are criminal scum there appears to be an exception that proves the rule. They found this fact among a few sorry bandits who were forced into the life against their own will but been stuck with it ever since. Apparently the peoples are not very forgiving or accepting even if the person in question was actually innocent. Now the only company they get to keep anymore are bandits who tend not to be very nice.

Hell some of them were even kidnapped as children or otherwise forced into it. Apparently things like explosive collars can't be quite convincing. While a few were forced out of their original factions and had to take up with the bandits.

Strangely it seems the bandits aren't one for judging.

>>39667482
To a degree since they can't get in they are sorta spreading out and some were led off from the explosions.

I propose we set up our judgement protocols and give them each a fair trial based upon the law and sentence them immediately.

However, seeing as we lack any actual prison connections we'll have to commute their sentences due to an indefinite state of national emergency, and in the meantime they will have to compensate with other legally appointed duties.

That is, hard labor and work while being segregated from the population. For which they will recieve prisoners rations and clothing in lieu of actual prisoner uniform.

As per the law, sentence may additionally be commuted per parole or good behaviour.

--

Meanwhile, the zombies like the smell of MAN right?

Get some dirty rags and wipe em with sweat, musk, hair clippings and anything that stinks.

Go find a canyon (not OUR canyon, somehwere far away) or suitable high place and try to herd the zombies in our base off a cliff.

And for gods sake make sure at the bottom of the cliff there aren't people living down there, monster nests, or caravan roads, the last thing we want to do is piss someone, or something, off.

Kill off and mop up the stragglers and clear out the base once the horde has been thinned enough

Bandits have been judged and taken to the prison to be housed. Problem is with the lack of general law and no higher authority it was rather tricky to figure out how to go about things.

With the zombies cleared its time to consolidate our holdings.

Quartermaster, I want you to take stock of the Vault and make a list of any necessary materials we should look out for or purchase to bring this vault back to structural integrity and operational capacity.

Commander, work on organizing a proper path and safe routs from the Base to the Vault that isn't visible. If we can create a hidden yet defended and fortified path or tunnel network system not too deep to the monsters nor to close to the surface to be visible that would be perfect. Likewise report your findings to the Quartermaster so he can also make a list of fortification supplies for such a pathway for better interaction between our facilities.

Judge, we have a lot of Old World personell in the vault who can be of use. You're a master of Order, I want you to document them all and set them to their designated offices and work places based upon their designated skillset and place. We'll add them and order them by combining our work force, so let's set about organizing.

We'll consolidate our holdings and improve the efficiency by adding the skills of the Vault Dwellers

As a Law specialized PMC remnant your well acquainted with corruption and codes of the old world. Its just in the new one people are more blunt about it and the old infrastructure is rotting while the government is dead.

Enclave is an excellent example of a government remnant and how they later reacted. Despite it not being 'quite' on target with their old world version. This is due to them after all changing over time and attempting to bring their own opinion into things.

>>39668231
Ah. Hmm, well lets see.

First and formost, the heirarchy of Authority.

The President Authorized a state of Emergency and Martial Law right before the fall. Due to the the nation and government being destroyed, the state of Emergency and Martial law has never been uplifted and until another congress and president is elected will remain indefinitely.

As such, in this period of indefinite martial law, the highest military authority will retain full powers. Thus, the Commander has absolute authority.

In that respect, it is the militaries duty to uphold and maintain the civil and domestic order, thus it is the Commanders duty (and ours) to uphold the law and that makes the Judge the supreme authority concerning civilian matters and matters not pertinent to national security. By default, unless sometihng directly threatens us and can be considered a threat to security, he will be in charge of processing any captured detainees and suspects.

>con't
>>
>>39668289
Of course, in such a state of martial law, all captures will first be questioned for military purposes, naturally. Then unless we decide to try them as enemy combtatants we'll send em to the judge.

Reminder that you are a PMC. You were paid in hard cash to enforce laws that the government was unable to do so by itself. They got desperate and started to hire enforcers aka you guys.

Eventually the Fall happened when you were expected to then awaken and finally take orders from whoever could pay to enforce the 'law'.

You worked for governments and even corps among other groups who could afford it.

Yes.

You do not carry any authorization like that at all and neither is the judged equpped for something like that. Worst of all you not only have no source of income but not even any LAWS to enforce!

A double whammy.

no cash.
no laws.

Your forces don't know what to do with themselves anymore. As there is no longer any real laws that need or want(that is what your for) to be backed anymore. There is also no longer any real 'hard' currency to take for said enforcing or anything at all really.

>>39668376
Your forces are well aware they aren't no government army or military. Strictly speaking they were paid by them to serve so as a private army to enforce the laws they decide.

Ironicly this often meant your forces were often the less corrupt because you stuck to the terms seriously and refused to take non hard currency for your work. Even if you worked for oppressive regimes.

Strictly speaking you only worked for those who paid in hard currency to help enforce their rules.

no pay no enforcement.

You worked for whoever would pay for the law enforcement.

Currently there is none. The old world is toast, so is its currency and laws both.

It has a TON of Old World tech. Most of it is for life support systems and maintenance. It appears to be a civilian vault...

Except for looted tech that is clearly wasn't a part of it originally. As in we found some looted lab and medical tech from a fallen think tank vault. As well as even some milspec gear that was acquired from the ruined bunker. Apparently when its survivors fled they took what they could with them.

All in all the vault was superbly well equipped far beyond what should be with...probably the only thing that kept it functioning as long as it had.

WARNING
Volcanic erruption detected!

WARNING
Earthquakes detected!

"Heh good thing our base is built for surviving quakes."

"Eh what about the vault?"

"...fuck- *BOOOWM*. The hell?"

"Uh Commander."

"What?"

"Can our base sustain barrage from a volcano?"

"Wait what do you* pears out the window and notices molten rock and ash raining down*. Shit...ARE THE SHIELDS UP!"

"Negative. We don't got the power to sustain the shields sir. We could use the emergency system but the plasma pump is required to keep it right."

"Fuck. Thats right we hadn't acquired the plasma pump feed stock yet. Shit can we bring up the shields Quartermaster for long enough?"

"...If we do sir we would of sucked it dry. That means we lose access to our best and biggest gear."

Shit...

"For left over plasma stocks fool. According to the quartermaster some should still be in the pipes and generators for our best stuff."

"Fucking hell...oh shit."

"What now?"

"Shielding THE SHIELDING was removed and it got turned on!"

"FUCK."

Resupply worked a little TOO well on resupplying the plasma pump alas it costed all our tier 1 tech got fucked.

Plasma Pump activated. Shield covering the base will last.

The Judge meanwhile was last seen eating a great plume of ash that was falling down. We are positive that Judge died.

Hero Lost.

-----
Eventually the earthquakes stopped and the shield deactivated.

YOU have lost access to tier 1 tech. You are still able to use tier 2.

Interestingly enough the dome has formed of hardened volcanic rock and ash around our base utterly disguising it considering the changed terrain.

Meanwhile we have confirmed the survival of the vault. By some stroke of pure dumb luck while the earthquakes was causing everything to collapse a lava flow errupted forth covering up the damages and solidfying saving the fault.

Meanwhile the entrance was collapsed from the earthquake covered in ash as a flow of lava came through sparing it.

The vault is not only saved but has been reinforced by the cooling lava.

The dome has settled.

The only apparent loss of life is the Judge and our now crippled/empty/exhausted tier 1 tech.

"Orders. I was planning to keep some emergency reserves in the tanks for when we get in a real pinch...now though well. Orders are orders."

"Even if it meant the tech got fucked?"

"Even so..." mutters the Quartermaster all teary eyed over his ruined equipment and gear. "Orders are orders," he finishes whispering.

"Well at least the plasma pump isn't dead dry right?"

"...yeah I guess, but our gear/equipment is fucked. Tier 1 infrastructure is still working though at least."

Honestly I haven't figured out where your still based at. I just know its somewhere in the green section aka plains which are broken up by copses of trees and rocky outcroppings.

Basically though wherever that outcropping your based at just got covered by ash as well as the surrounding area. Most of it the ash went upwards though. It was one of those explosive type volcanoes whose wounds later oozed lava.

Rolled 36 (1d100)

>>39671695
Exploring around indicates a few changes. Now the nearby landscape is coated in ash and blasted cooling rock. Occasionally you can find a few streams of cooling lava. The ashfall is heaviest around the outcropping which was the closest to the volcano. Nearby though you could see a smoldering caldera of still bubbling lava. Plus side its now out in the open and the ash spewing explosive boom has warn off.

What was interesting though...that volcano when it blew its top off(it used to be extinct) revealed some infrastructure and facilities that are now in the open...that is assuming you can get past the absurd heat.

>>39672373
The base is smaller, the volcano is closer, and the ash wasn't that spread out. It was pretty concentrated before blasting upward. Think a bloom then up. Hell most of the ash sent upwards is still up there. Gradually it will eventually start to fall down.

Yeah it wasn't exactly natural.

"Scans indicate urban area to the north. Wasteland to the south.
Forest to the East.
Mountains to the West."

So the north edges would be boxes and circles of various shades of grey interconnected, to the west I can have brown circles, TO the east I can have darker green, to the south a washed out shitty shade?

>>39672890
Perhaps placing charges on existing stress points on the underside of the highway could cause large amounts of damage through out their base. But that should not be our current goal. That kind of agression is going to bring every human baddy in the area down on our heads.

Why? We'd have just cut the head off of the scariest faction in town, shown to have the tech, the armament and the training to be able to do so, and the willingness to fuck over just about any one. Sure they'd be happy that the fucks are dead or crippled, but the only thank you letters we get will be in the form of AP, HE and FMJ.

I suggest we do more scouting and intel gathering first. Lay low while this ash-cloud blows over, see if we can help the people around here, and watch out for any enterprising fucks trying to get at those facilities that wwere just opened up.

Because humans are greedy. If the world in question is refined to any degree you can bet your ass an active volcano has facilities built in.

Same with dead ones except their more focused towards industry.

They are valued highly because they are both energy and resource rich. This setting is obsessed with both. They hunger for MOAR energy and MOAR resources.

To them there is no such thing as enough.

>>39673430
Occasional clumps of trees and rocky outrcropping. Otherwise its grassy fields and old transport system.

A little ways away you can expect to run into a hub and some heavy ruins.
>>
>>39673017
Of course we would be more clever about it than just saying "Blow'em up!"

Taking them down would cause a dramatic increase in caravan traffic through here though, and would also probably net us plenty of high-quality biofuel (maybe a generator for it to) as well as shittons of flying vehicles.

It's a long-term goal to work towards. We're paramilitary, so we kick ass. We should be cautious, but also aware of our hitting power.

You know how we now have a bunch of bullshit currencies that are backed by different stuff?

Recon forces sent out it would appear damage was limited except for air traffic getting fucked. For the most part we didn't find anyone besides monsters or zombie until our recon forces ran into a very bizarre sight.

It was a single subject who was heading right towards the base when our forces investigated it turned out to be the Judge.

"how the hell did you survive that? I could of sworn you got roasted by the flow and dragged away."

"There is no escaping Justice," was the only given explanation.

Your most advanced tech that you got. Not much can beat it as its a very short list. Stuff that requires absurd amounts of power and is very high tech. Talking like plasma spewers and other highly advanced weaponry.

Right now your tech is down to tier two. In vehicle terms this means they are relying upon batteries, hard fuels, and even reactors if their big enough to warrant it.

Its not backup gear its the best you can field.

Not really they are just forced to rely upon their ground vehicles. Which DOES piss them off as their air superiority was their biggest advantage over the other bandits.

>>39674763
Those who were affected the hardest are the bandits, local factions near the volcano, and the caravans who had to divert their routes.

The biggest problem though is the increase of monster activity. For whatever reason a lot of monsters been showing up lately.

Recon forces have found that the monsters while absent of predator class make up for it in parasitic. Most of the monsters are drawn to here due to the heat and are busy digging themselves in enjoying it.

Unsurprisingly they are largely made up of the more cold blooded types and reptile like. As well as the heat lovers. Another strange fact is there appears to be plant monsters showing up and entrenching themselves in the cooled ash.

Problem is the Brood though. Apparently all the activity has awoken the lair and its starting to get active again if the pulsating tendrils that are lashing out are anything to go by.

Not entirely sure what kind of infestation it is exactly but something is there.

>>39676820
let's clear our area and avoid the brood. It's best if we stay small, keep our heads down and work in the shadow of ash. We will strike the 'giants' of this area. They will feel our steeled blades sliding into their necks, or our cuffs about their wrists long before they know just who they are dealing with.
>>
>>39676820

>Not preferring to get the locations of monster nests
>Then we excavate the beginnings of monster nests at key points around our base

From the looks of it would appear that many of the monsters are bunching up into groups. It would appear they are trying to find a place to turn into a nest or den. As we noticed them sniffing around for a good spot. The heat lovers though are preferring to keep close to the lava streams and the closer head to the volcano.

It would appear they aim to claim turf, find a home, and to sustain themselves. Our forces are most familiar with the monsters that like to live among us or those who are dependent. In that regard they recongized a few of the monster types which made them highly displeased to say the least.

"Well fuck of ALL the goddamn monsters it just HAD to be the serpentine bitches."

"Fuck those things are a pain in the ass to fight on a good day. One tail decent tail swipe or a body slam can take down even a heavy in a jiffy. Fuck I once seen one LANCE through a fucking tank."

"Well at least they ain't the parasiti-why is everyone giving me that look?"

"Fucking new guys. Look closer at their torso moron."

"Eh they look awfull-oh."

"Yeah oh they got the humanoid upper parts right? You know what REALLY sucks about those kinds of monsters that seem to be hybrid or chimeric in nature somehow?"

"What?"

"Reduncy," spat on a recon.

"Reduncy?"

"Yeah redunancy. You see kid when you start splitting creatures apart and slam them together when there would normally be organ problems right? Well what if you say got those organs working together?"

"Like?"

"A centaur for instance. Neck and head is humanoid torso. They are noted for the reduntant organs and its common trait among monsters even remotely like that."

"So at least their obvious right not like the shifters or hiders."

"Bah I WISH they were those things. They are easier to kill."

"Seriously?"

"redundant organs are a bitch lad. You think you killed one several times over and it just keeps picking itself back up to take your head."

"But they don't have regeneration..."
>>
>>39676350
Writing up the next turn Genie or do you want actions from us?
>>
>>39677026
Scouting from a good range doesn't mean we know everything. We did get a lot, but no where near the full story. Plus there is the lack of tools to take on parasite base life forms.

We could probably damage them, but finishing may be real hard with our top tier gear damaged be on repair.

The best move we can make is keep the status quo and build up allies. While hitting targets on the way to keep them from getting to big. Once we have a break thru, then we drive the enemy out.

We know everyone would have it out for the brood. We can get the word out and people should come to help us take care of it. The monster will hopefully keep the plants at bay. That leaves us with the bandits and traders as the main issue.

The traders are now taking a different path and we should think about clearing a path near us to have them available. Hell maybe we can station some troops near by and get payed to help people get thru here.
>>
Rolled 19 (1d100)

>>39677222
"Which is EXACTLY why people underestimate them and that gets them killed."

"I remember hearing stories of the beastfolk they sorta like that?"

"Nope. Think they are chimeric slamming different critter bits together into a monster. They ain't hybrids. Which are easier to kill much less apt to have fucking redundant organs."

"Why is everyone bitching about redudancy..."

"Because its a bitch and a half to deal with. Not to mention they tend to be strong and smart as hell but more monstrous thanks to their other parts. Compared to shifters or some shit right?"

"Sure they got magic powers and are hard to find but at least when you get past all of that they are relatively easy to kill. Those monsters there? They can't hide their nature very well as a parasites which means they evolved to become more predatory. Combine that with their parasitic nature and bodies along with the brains of a man..."

"...shit that is fucking scary."

"Yeah and even after we have all these big shiny toys and tech right," comments one soldier hefting one up. "Those things can STILL kick our ass despite us being in power armor and shooting them."

"Why?"

"Serpent bodies are strong as shit and when you have one of those slam into you...or say put all that strength into a single point."

"oh..."

"Yeah just remember this kid when one of those things tail slaps your gonna feel like you just got hit by a truck. A body slam is like getting hit by a train, and if they are clever enough to lance you its like getting it by a gauss shot but with a bigger meatier package behind it."

"Fuck..."

"Yeah don't let them get close."

"Too bad they can leap and climb like crazy."

"Ugh don't remind me...fucking leaping snakes monsters."

"So wait aren't they intelligent then?"

"Yeah most of them who can pull off the humanoid do have keen sense of brain. A few however are stupid or mindless just using it as bait and switch."

"So can't we talk with them?"

"Because idiot you ever heard the old adage "never get taken alive by monsters"? Its because of what they'll do to you. Think about it they are a bunch of parasites and if they only eat you count yourself lucky."

"So we gonna kill em?"

"Nope we watch and pray they don't find us."

"Man what is with all these protocols and stories about never getting taken alive. I mean you have that for infection, infestation, demons, monsters, and now what else?"

"Its simply because there are fates worse then death and ending up in their claws is one of them. Better off by far biting your last bullet then letting them get you."

"From the looks of it though...lets see it looks like we got beast, plant, and humanoid monsters right?"

"Yeah your right. Other parasitic monsters wont go for this devoid turf of prey unless they got forethought or they like the heat. Same with predators they go where there is prey. So there shouldn't be any monsters who focus on human prey....well except for the smarter parasitics anyway."

"Hm what about that infestation in the lair?"

"...fuck we still gotta check that out."

"Oh come on that shit ain't our jurisdiction! Better off calling someone else to handle that clusterfuck."

"Who exactly huh?"

"Uhhhm."

"Exactly."

"Come on kids luckily we got ourselves a psionic who can get a better look."

"oh comeone I HATE peering into that kinda shit. The perverted fucked up shit in a parasite monster is bad enough."

"Yeah well you had it easy considering how simple all the others were."

"Fucking hate peering into brood minds though. That shit is fucked."

----
"Well looks like they woke up got an special senses that will enlighten us?"

"Hm..."

"What type of infestation we talking?"

"Appears to be a...shit."

"What?"

"I detected some strong psi ratings among the brood among a bunch of dumbs. They at least got a overlord in there or something."

"Well fuck me don't tell me it sensed you?"

"Barely got away but I caught a peek."
>>
>>39677604

Just fuck us though. We have a problem that will not stop with things that hit like a truck and ever evolving brood.

"So..."

"Its bad. Turned out that brood broke out of containment from a black site."

"Shit. Any idea what kind they are?"

"They ain't Brood War brood."

"...Then what are they?"

"A super strain."

"Oh goddamn it so its one of those dick ass creators then...fuck whose the asshole responible?"

"Oh it gets better."

"How so?"

"They are fighting a bunch of bots who come from the SAME fucking place and it would appear they connected somehow."

"So fucking tired of this shit. We ain't handle squat like this. Anything else?"

"The black site they are both from is one hell of a complex. From the look of it they are an engineered super strain who broke containment. This Lair here is blocking one of the entrances to the Complex and is commanded by a lord class while something is gestating..."

"Fuck did it pop yet?"

"Afraid so. That is why they are getting much more active. Good news is there is some infighting among the strains bad news is...the strain is something nasty."

"How nasty?"

"You know how brood likes to steal shit and then piece it together however they please?"

"Yeah."

"Well the infestation we are talking about doesn't care for stealing but rather twisting of forms. Their 'infestation' creates a bed for it spread and reinforce allowing greater changes."

"So what you detected exactly besides the dumb ones?"

"I noticed a Psi Minder and whatever popped."

"Which was?"

"Not entirely sure. All I do know is its not a connector unlike the Minder and it gestated for awhile. From the look of it I first thought it was an infestor right? But its not whatever it is its got brain and brawn. Its using its former protector as a Commander is has slaved an infester to get the shit spreading again."

"So a leader class?"

"Doesn't quite fit the bill though is the kicker. If i had to guess its some kind of twister or an abomination."

"Yeah well an infestation like that is gonna cook up a lot of abominations."

"...fuck I just realized what it was."
>>
Rolled 95 (1d100)

>>39677826
"At first i thought it was something like a broodmother or MAMA right? But that didn't add up. Then I remembered what i read in the bandit minds and vault dwellers. Something about certain drugs, a group, and a very fucked up targets. That was when I remembered that feel...but it got twisted and the original was extremely hard as is."

"So you know what it is?"

"Yeah its is or more correctly was a Super Splicer."

"oh by the gods."

"Yeah that was BEFORE it got infested. Now it got done gestating turning into something else. Guess they took it out of there because they didn't want to risk contanimation while it cooked."

"Now its done cooking..."

"Exactly."

"So what can you say then?"

"Its a former Super Sinner but now it got infested with a Super Strain Twisted. Its already fucked up powers and ability got dialed up to 11 as the infestation ran rampant throughout its body. The splicer had gotten lucky used the good stuff and handled itself well. Problem is in this fucked up after world I guess it got desperate and I understand now why I thought it was brood."

"Why?"

"That super splicer was infected Brood its why it gave off that familiar stench."

"So was it a super sinner?"

"Something like that. All I know is that thing was wired up on all kinds of biotech, drugs, and shit imaginable before it got grabbed by that infestation. Now that twisted the then Super Sinner into something more."

"Something like a super splicer?"

"I would say yes but its too twisted to be something like that. My best guess its some kind of aged abomination. I just know it was something like a super sinner or splicer before it got infested."

we have a new numero uno on AGIES' most wanted list.

His criminal fuck is going down. Slammer or Grave, it doesn't have a choice.

We need to gather as much intel as we can and keep an Eye on it. Perhaps set up looking posts or sensor equipment to watch this entrance... That vault was in the volcano-side, right? it's gonzo isn't it...

We need allies, We need help.. We need to stop this monster, it sounds bad enough to take the surface by storm...

Do you think we could goad some of the bandits into attacking it? seeing how it fares? It's Black Site is burried deep, and spread out quite a bit... perhaps we can find a thin point under a enemy base and blast it open?
Anyways,

H: Mark down the chimera's nesting grounds and avoid them form now on, start running simms on crippling techniques so we can at least immobilize the bastards if not kill them outright. And most importantly, Start scanning for communications, A adventurous caravan er may be trying to take advantage of the clear airspace. Let's see if we can't help them along.

Sensors have been moved and expertly hidden. Turns out hiding bugs is useful in the post world too. Now our broadcasts is no longer being trapped inside the bubble. Sadly the deployment of vehicles and aircraft ain't so easy to do while maintaining the bubble. Yet still our forces figured that if we delicately cut out a larger hole and use our stealth tech to conceal it. Should hopefully work rather well which was planned for but unable to get around too.

Unless of course someone has a better idea.

Delim's right. Just reinforce the area of the dome where our entrance is going to be so that we can build it better.

Reinforcing the whole dome can wait until we re-acquire the Vault Dwellers, properly befriend them, and convince them to help us with the construction of reinforcements.

B: Improve out base further, build a road to the entrance of our dome, Set up lights in the roof of the dome that are linked to daylight sensors on the other side, so we can have very quick refrences to day or night. Create a perimeter path/entrenchment along the inside wall of the dome, we need to be able to quickly move about all areas with in our base, while keeping it defensible.

"So...whose brilliant fucking idea was it to go say hello to the bandits while we were out?"

"Well according to the prisoners they wont touch you the first time you come around due to potential offerings."

"Which we wont provide."

"Yup but it still lets us take a look also helps with the message."

Discovered the following factions

>Zealots
>Survivors x2
>Robots
>Military Remnant
>Government Remnant
>Think Tank Remnant
>Megacorp Remnant
>Mutant

You also got word spread to a number of bandits and their reaction was not one you expected...as suddenly you heard screams and alarms start buzzing over every bandit base.

Doesn't help when you came around they didn't not only mind but seem preoccupied. It was a strange experience but most enlightening for your forces after seeing a myrid of atrocities and such crimes being committed it gave all those sent a migraine due to the sheer volume of notifications.

You left however when suddenly the bandits started to unleash all their forces in mass and all whom were headed towards a certain volcano.

That was when your forces returned desperately trying to get there before the shit hit the fan...and what they saw was a scene of carnage.

Apparently the zombie horde had no luck getting passed the monsters. Even more strangely was the Bandits who were all shouting

"RELEASE THE CRAZIES!"

"This plan is insane!"

"Which is exactly why it work you fool! PUWHAHAH."

What was even stranger however was when they ran into the Judge who was walking with a few fellows away from the ash and zombies.

The first wave that hit ended in disaster as they were swiftly dealt with...the second wave however did better but still poorly.

Sadly there were many waves more yet...and they seemed to be utterly insane. Even more strangely they had a strange effect on the environment and used bizarre tech.

Wave after wave arrived...and the monsters seemed to vanish apparently having their fill of flesh and were scared off by the sense of 'wrongness' radiating from their forces.

So the crazies marched up the volcano and to the Lair. That was when all hell broke loose as these 'things' came out and started tearing into the zombies. It went very poorly for the crazies as they were ruthlessly crushed. Yet slowly painfully they began to improve. Until eventually it was largely fought to a ground still on both sides.

However it did not stop there by this time the majority of the crazies had arrived and the weak ones were dead...this left only the strong. Which it began to show as they crazies started to break through fighting their way to the lair...

Despite the fierce resistance they were soon able to penetrate the Lair and by this time the crazies were getting rather into it. As soon strange energies started to erupt and their tech started to work wonderously.

It was when they brought that utter madness and tek into the Lair was when it exploded. What came out was a...thing that came forward and started to tear into their forces.

HEROIC UNIT DETECTED.

MADNESS ZONE IS ACTIVE

MADTEK USAGE DETECTED

The fight between the two forces was ludicrious as volumes of mad powers flung forward along with crazy contraptions against the monster. Together though they were only just barely.

BARELY able to drive it back. Yet still it fought on viciously. They fought for so long that both of them started to tire...but the creature tired faster than the crazies did. Who were driven by their madness. Which began to show...as seemingly TWO of each of the crazies started to appear.

Almost as if they were fighting so quickly they were leaving a twin mirage of themselves fighting. 'Together' the crazies were slowly crushing the creature as it soon found itself overwhelmed.

Right when victory seemed to be the crazies however was when the creature reacted with one last move.

That was when the world became an impossible color as a flash occurred when the two forces collided one last time and a sudden whooshing crash was heard as a shockwave blasted form the location.

When the area finally cleared...there was nothing.

Not a sign.

I think I just realized something about the nature of madness in genies setting.
It has to do a bit with quantum stuff.
But it can be summed up as, in genies world, reality exists because you think it dose, and because you are there to see it and believe it's real.
But with the mad they see reality as what they want it to be, there own beliefs in there own reality cleshes with the belief of the sane. So in small numbers they can't do much.
But I large amounts there mad reality out ways the normal reality perception and there's takes president. But one mans mad world is different from another's. They might share a common end goal or idea but the won't mesh perfectly. That's what makes the oddness of mad.

So genie did I figure out a thing?

Both series are gonna be insane anon.

One is about a cowardly normal fellow in a fantastic realm. Kicker is he isn't someone special and he is painfully well aware of that fact.

The other is about a pragmatic honorable foulmouthed fellow who secretly has a heart of gold in the post apoc who has stuff to come to terms as he tries to survive while trying to make the world a better place.

I think in your setting there is one person who truly understands the nature of madness. But in order to do that. He had to become the most boring man to ever exist.

Technically MAD works like this.

1 There is an equal chance for it to be good or bad in equal capacity.
2 No rules to MAD apply except those listed here
3 Bandits may use mad at no additional penalty but Crazed units are the only ones who get a bonus towards it(this will however increase both the good and bad)

Technically there will have to be more rules but these are my own that i go by and I don't suggest others using them in a hard rule set.

Mad doesn't work that way so its usage will always be limited to my own work and setting.

There is actually something like that.

You wouldn't believe what one of them goes by.

Tell me more please good sir

Also those are the meta game rules of mad, I'm talking about the in unreversed physics of it. Something that powerful had to have been studyed

Reaver No-Mad.

It has but not a single person has ever walked away with their sanity who acquired any 'understanding' of it will drive you utterly insane. To anyone else the research/notes makes not goddamn sense and appears to be mad ravings.

So its widely considered impossible to properly research but that doesn't stop people from sacrificing their sanity to try.
