"What'd ye mean 'The barrier shouldn't be here?'"
"We're too far north, the barrier shouldn't extend this far" Aligot looks around, curiously. "but for some reason, I can still faintly feel it."

"What'd this mean? We're gonna start getting hurt now?"
He thinks about it for a second, before waving you off.
"We'll be fine, it's strong enough for now. Don't worry about it."

That doesn't ease your concerns,
You are Jack Albator, handsome hero, daring explorer, angry skycaptain. Today you've gotten to the bottom of a most devious plot that has been threatening your land! Villages across flonyard have been mysteriously disappearing one by one, and today you just found where they were all going!

"You've been here before?"
"I have." Aligot seems to shiver as he looks around. "Not alone, but. This town seems to be built on top of the ruins of the old kingdom."

He searches the vicinity, noticing the various types of ears on its inhabitants.
"And if you wanted me to guess, we just found where all the kidnapped villages are going."

Now the question remains: who needs to walk the plank for this?

The town is filled with an assortment of fuzzy-eared inhabitants. Each one is from one of the villages that were kidnapped, you reckon. What intersts you are the people who sent them here. From what you know, it was a traveling band of winemakers from Konditorei.

"So, where are we lookin' first?" Cody asks, shuffling his feet as he walks.
"Whar else winemakers gonna hide? The bars of course!"
"Um." Yuuki seems to fold her hands in front of her. "Should all of us be walking around together? we kind of stand out around here."

>"Good point, split up and we'll meet back here."
>"No, safety in numbers."
>"It's not that bad."
>"We should keep a lower profile than we have right now." (how?)
>Other?
>>
And remember! If I suddenly disappear without warning, that's because I have a meeting to go to soon.

Jack is in no mood to lose his crew.

Also very sneaky Announcer, didn't notice this thanks to the OP image.
>>
Hey I'm actually on time for once!

>>39768642
>"No, safety in numbers."

NEVER split the party.
We've got multiple heroes and magic users here, we can totally beat through any opposition we might face when needed.
MUCH less certain if we split up.
>>
Announcer can we change where we go first?
I'd like to meet whoever is in charge, beat the everloving shit out of them and then have this whole thing fixed by judicious application of violence to the kidnappers faces.
>>
>>39768936
Hey, we're in a new land so I thought it would be a nice change of pace!

>Waiting a few more minutes for votes

>>39769019
You can go anywhere you want in town, that's what the >other? vote option means.
The problem is, who does Jack think is in charge? Where would he go to find him?
>>
>>39769036
Just keep beating people with weapons up, eventually you'll get someone you can interrogate!
I can see no flaw in this plan.

...Seriously though, I really want to beat the everloving shit out of the group that kidnapped that place.
We're heroes and they've gotten away with this way too fucking long, I want to make them horrified of pissing us off and see some groveling at the superhuman strike team that can break their city like so much cardboard.
>>
No one showed up.
Welp!

>Don't split the party

Writing! First place to investigate is the bar, voted on in last thread.
>>
>>39769347
Eh, still early on, got plenty of time for more people to arrive.

Rolled 18 (1d100)

"We stay together." You turn around to make sure you haven't lost anyone. "And stay close, we're a team of obviously armed heroes in a town that's supposed to be captive."
"That's right, and anywhere we go, we'll be obvious. Keep your eyes peeled, don't hesitate to shoot if you gotta." Cody lights a cigarette.

"Do you even know where the bar is?" Yuuki wraps her hands around her spear.
"Har, consider it like a sixth sense of mine." You smile.

Want to find a bar? Simply look for the biggest building in town that has the most barrels outside of it. They double as both storage for brew and storage for drunkards. Every bar you've ever seen has had an assortment of wooden containers specifically placed out front as to say 'here is a bar' and 'if you cause trouble, this is where you're going'.
Sure enough, your philosophy pays off. There seems to be a large group of people gathering outside a building with an assortment of barrels outside of it. And with an assortment of barrels, there is an assortment of people.

The crowd seems too enthralled with talking and bickering as you approach. It seems like there's an attraction they're interested in.
"'Ey." You ask a stocky guy with dog ears standing in front of the door, guarding it. "What's goin' on over here?"
"Hey, you're-" He stops himself, blank look on his face. "A huge Gallete town arrived earlier, but apparently the people who brought them fucked up and brought themselves too. They're locked in the cellar."
Cody flicks out his cigarette. "Show us."
"Can't." He sighs, folding his hans behind his back. "You and everyone other person in town wants a piece of them because they think they can get us home. Boss said to keep them away from everyone."
"Who's yer boss?"
"Big guy, serving drinks inside."

>"Anything we can do to change yer mind?"

>"Show us or this bar is history."

Oh these stupid, stupid fucks.
This is going to be glorious.

Time to reveal to them they've brought a group of heroes around - there damn well better be a chance to humiliate the kidnappers.
>>
So these people inside...
How breakable are their fingers, or bones in general really?
I figure we can at least get them to talk - or, get one to talk while we use the other to demonstrate what happens when they keep quiet out of any horribly misplaced sense of duty they might or might not have.

"Thanks, we'll talk to yer boss."

Yeah, you'll 'talk' to him alright.
Inside is what would normally be considered heresy in the sacred realm of debauchery; a bar full of people with no one drinking.
People line the bar frantically trying to yell over one another. Some of them are looking for family members, some of them are still confused as to what's going on, but all of them want to go home.
Then there's a guy behind the bar. Dog ears, large build, he holds his forehead in his hand as he tries to calm everyone down to no avail.

"Looks like we';ll have to wait our turn." Yuuki sets her spear down.
"Yuuki, who do you think we're traveling with?" Cody walks straight up to the bar, the crowd steps aside as he approaches. Yuuki and You are following closely behind him.
Aligot, Tuile, Louise, and Odelle stand back and watch. They instead choose to try talking to some of the terrified refugees.

"Hey!" Someone from the crowd yelps at your approach. "It's that hero!"
The crowd silences down as you approach.
Cody puts his hands in his pocket, you can feel a smile creeping up on your face.
"See Lad? It helps to know a captain." You nudge him.
"Yea. yea."

"Yeah! It is that hero!" Another voice seems to confirm, "That's Yuuki!"
"Yuuki?"
"YUUKI!"
"You've come to save us!"
The crowd gathers around Yuuki and starts franktically asking questions. She stands there confused as she tries deflecting as best as she can.

The only thing more humiliating right now is Cody's unrestrained laughter.
"C'mon Lad, the bar is clear."
"pfft, yeah yeah."

"Not that, we needa see the prisoners downstairs."
"You and everyone else. But they need their faces intact if they're gonna tell us anything."
"We can interrogate the-"
"You look more prepared to fight a war than interrogate. Why should I let you down there?"

>"Because if you don't I'm going to start a war on your face."
>"Because if you don't I'm going to walk down there and you won't be able to stop me."

Ouch, right in the ego.

>>

>"You know I'm the most qualified to interrogate them. I'm a hero, and so is Yuuki!"
If anything can cow them into spilling the beans without the need to get physical it's three heroes walking in on them. Plus we stand the best chance if there is some fight left in them.
>>
So everyone what should we go with?
I'm leaning towards saying we're a hero and possibly telling him that, because we are one, he can't really stop us.

"How're ye think we're gonna get sense out of 'em!?"

Cody sighs,
"Wait, wait. Hold on. Surely you have some stipulation for us to see them, right? So surely we can see 'em if we're not armed? Or maybe with someone walkin' with us?"
"Aye, it's true I wouldn't let you in without someone watching. But can still turn their faces inside out if you so desire."

"You have my word that we won't touch 'em."

"Is everything okay over there?"
"Aye! Everythin's dandies."
"Yes, yes. Whatever that means."

Cody walks back, "Listen, I want to prove to you that I'm a man of my word. Pick any person in this bar, and they'll go with me."

The man grumbles, before calling to the back.
"Yo Josef!"
A scrappy cat-man wanders over.

"Go with these three. They're gonna visit the prisoner. You have ten minutes."
Cody smiles. "Thanks."

Josef walks a good distance ahead of you, and he approaches the cellar with care.
"Last I checked, one of them had almost slipped his stockade."

"Jack here is gonna look at the prisoners."
"And I'm gonna keep an eye on him."

Cody smirks, "Let's be clear though, you don't think he's gonna try something while you're standing right here, are you?"

He snorts, "Nah, I think the old man is just paranoid."
Cody laughs, "Well said. Come on, have a seat."

Josef and Cody sit on one of the unused benches, Cody takes out a bottle that you saw mysteriously disappear from the bar earlier.
"Drink?"
"Nah, I'm on duty."
Cody clicks his teeth,
"More for me, I guess, but I gotta ask, are you a gambling man?"
Josef laughs, "Only the best gambling man, why?"
"I've been havin' a gamblin' itch ever since I left, so I gotta ask, what if I put five gold pieces here, would you be up for it?"

"I'll do better than that, I'll raise you ten." Josef reaches for the bottle and takes a drink, "I don't have it on me but-"
"Fair's fair. We'll make it quick so you can get back to watching Jack here."
"Heh." Josef grins, taking out a deck of cards. "You're on."

You're not sure where he's going with this, you start eying the prisoners as they start sweating bullets at your mere presence.
None of them talking still. If that guy wasn't here, you would-

"So, here's the game." Josef says, a wicked smile on his face. He haphazardly shuffles his deck of cards as he talks. "If I can get the Ace of Hearts in a single cut, I win."

Cody looks dumbfounded. "Ace of Hearts in a single cut, huh? Sounds impossible, but it also sounds like I want to shuffle that deck for myself."
"So you'll take it?"

Cody grabs the cards, another smile on his face. "I'd be a fool not to."

Josef smiles, he's up to something.

Cody sets the deck down on the bench. "Okay, Josef, show me this magic of yours."
Josef looks at the deck, "Okay. I'm glad you agree; now."

Josef, without warning, reaches into his pocket and pulls out a knife!
With a swift stroke, he stabs it straight into the deck of cards!

"There." Josef smiles, completely smug. "I've cut the Ace of hearts in a single cut. Now, if you would-"

Cody stops him.
He reaches into his sleeve, and pulls out a single card that was hidden within.
"No you didn't, Josef."

The card between Cody's fingers is the Ace of Hearts.
"Now." Cody smiles. "If you would."

Josef audibly gasps. You look back and see that even the prisoners are stunned from this.
"..I'll go get my coin purse." Josef grumbles as he stands up, heading to the stairs before slamming the door behind him.

Cody crosses his arms and looks right at you with a nod.
That's your cue, time to crack your knuckles!

"Aye, So laddys. First one to talk gets to keep their ears and tail."

Sorry this thread was so short, everyone.

Anyway, hopefully thursday's thread will be longer and we can finally get to taking on these dirtbags head-on!

I'm glad the dice landed the way they did, I was wanting to show off Cody's card tricks for a while.

Thanks for the thread everyone, let me know what you thought of it. Here's an image I meant to use when I described the bar scene.

>everyone sees it as an ordinary poker game
>there's actually a DBZ-speed fight going on on who cheats the most and stops the other one from cheating

Cody was fucking fantastic here.
...Maybe we can hang out with him and help him get some cash from playing card in bars or something, that could be fun.
Or, well, how about some friendly play with all heroes, nothing serious just some friendly poker.

Seems like a good bonding moment.

Also, thanks for running.
Looking forward to thursday.

I'm glad everyone liked that card trick.

I had a story for Cody that I was going to have him tell if he ever got the chance to about what happened when he was first summoned. But it looks more and more like it won't be told. Long story short, this is the second time he's tricked a prison guard with card games since coming to Flonyard.

Maybe I'll tell it sometime as an omake on all the heroes backstories or I may just tell it if interest is high enough.

pshh, just make us have a drink with him at some point
>>
>>39777920
Have him tell it during a common get-together with other heroes where we can just relax?

Looks like Cody's more in his element outside of combat. God damned /tg/ dice.
