You wake up tired and early, as per the usual. The bed creaks a little as you move the covers and get off of it, something that has always more or less annoyed you. You put a hand to your face and run it up and through your hair as you let out a sigh. You've been up all damn night working on your latest project, and you wish you could go back to sleep. Despite this you rise and head into the bathroom to get ready for the day.The first thing you do though is turn on the radio, in search of some good news. The newscasters voice is happy and loud, showing that she is either new to the job or just really excited(probably the latter)What you get from the news is the exact opposite of good in your opinion. "And down here at the Coralton Convention Center we are preparing to watch Professor Vonel Pierce unveil his latest discovery in genetics. Vonel Pierce is a well-"*Click* You turn the radio off before it can go any further. Hearing about the accomplishments of others is not something you feel like listening to, especially considering the fact that your making something that will put his discovery to shame! You head down to your nanotechnology lab, where you have been working day and night on your latest project. You're actually excited about this, when this works your going to become famous after all. Heading down the steps, into your basement, and finally through a door, you arrive in your lab. All over the room you have organized computers, lab vials, and written down notes(you find writing your work physically calming) all waiting for you to use them. But none of them are as important as your greatest and latest invention. In a large clear sphere full of grey goo sits your creation, Adaptable nanomachines. You are about to go work on the procedures, when you're struck by a thought. These final steps, important they may be, could take days or even weeks if something else were to be needed or added. Not only that, but you risk causing the entire experiment to go wrong by your own human failings! You step away from the computers and notes, wary of messing up in some crucial way, before turning to the sphere of grey goo. There is an untold number of nanomachines in there, waiting for a proper host to begin their procedures on. You could finish, take the risk of true failure, but this is your greatest project damnit, and you're not risking anything! Besides, one such as you could never fail on such an important project. Filled with self-confidence you walk over to the needles and take the one able to hold over 400 miligrams before turning to your sphere. This wont fail, simply because it cannot fail! You walk over to the sphere and after forcing the air out you stick the needle into one of the special holes built into it. As you fill the needle slowly you watch the gray goo seemingly quiver and move of its own accord, showing the response of the untold trillions of nanites. You take the needle out, tap the needle a few times, then stick it into your wrist...>Cont
Oh and also, for those here for that reason, this isnt a smut/fetish/magical realm Quest. Sorry bout that, but im serious when it comes to this one.
Upon entering the vein you feel almost as if the nanomachines are eager to get to work. You rationalize that its most likely due to their programming activating, and you smirk as you push down on the vial. The goo entering your Veins is thick, but thanks to its programming it does'nt clog up or take up any space. Despite this it stings a little, yet you dont stip injecting it until the needle is empty. You take the needle out, and see no blood leak out, instead a dribble of grey paste. You set the needle aside before watching the good go into the hole and seal it fully. You feel an odd sensation running up your arm, and through your entire body. You keep calm though, its just the nanomachines moving and replicating of course, no cause for concern. You feel yourself sweating a little, and pass it off as mere worry and fear. You raise a hand to your forehead, wipe away the stick sweat, and bring your hand back down to see...Grey goo...>Cont

You're suddenly hit by horrible pain all over your body, and you let out a cry as it increases in strength. You fall to your knees on the floor, screams of agony coming out of your mouth as overwhelming pain overtakes you. Your hands start to dissolve, starting from the fingertips, followed by your feet, and then your skin. You let out another scream as you lose control over yourself, and you look up at the bright ceiling as your cries cease to be due to your vocal cords turning into goo. You dont feel anything. You dont see anything. You dont hear anything. Instead you're encompassed by total darkness, so absolute as to make you go mad. Despite this lack of senses, or even actual thought, you feel a need to survive. Through your body there are millions upon millions of orders to rebuild and survive. Your dna is the first thing reassembled, replaced with nanites instead if flesh, followed by cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, and finally they create you.Your senses rush back to you disturbingly fast, and your eyes snap open as you awaken suddenly. You instantly rise up and start breathing deeply, shock and confusion running through your mind. You look down at your hands to see grey and blue spots that slowly subside and dissapear. You touch your hands together and feel seemingly normal flesh and bone, before touching your face and hair to feel the same thing. You slowly get to your feet, brown coat swaying and boots clacking as you stand up wearily, shaking and stumbling back and forth before returning to your original stance. You decide to embrace the need to feed, but not on your work or actual food. Instead you deign to feed on the nanomachines you designed. They seem like the perfect object, and besides you dont want to risk them falling in anyone else's hands! You shakily walk over to the orb, filled with your perfect creation, and raise a hand to touch it. Upon your fingers reaching the sphere grey goo spreads put from the area of contact, and begins to consume the glass holder. The nanomachines on the inside are soon exposed, and are quickly consumed by the brethren, which split off into more nanomachines inside of you. Somehow despite the extra intake you dont grow bigger, though you do feel full and more solid.Pick one upgrade>Minor shifting and changing(The swarm is only desirable if its currently in a helpful form)>Minor hardening(The stronger the swarm is the closer to perfection it becomes)>Minor Absorbtion(The form requires sustenance to reproduce, feed it)

As you feed on the rest of the orb you feel the urge to feed...grow. You take a deep breath as the need to feed subsides...and then come around to the fact that you needed to feed. You look down at the remains of your perfect project, and start to think of whats happening. This shouldnt be, even with missing procedures it shouldnt need to eat anything except the daily nutrients provided by your body! You start to worry and fear, thinking about how your work is ruined at first when your suddenly hit by a sensation of calm. You injected you lifes work into your body, and in reward you have changed, though you're not sure whether its for the better or the worst. What you do know is that you have two feelings, the need to feed and the need to reproduce. You need something to take your mind off of things, and you feel that the best thing to do would be check the radio. You might as well see how that bastard did with his discovery. You turn on the radio, but instead of the high pitched and happy voice of a woman you hear the serious and urgent voice of a man. Seems his discovery didnt work out to well for him, similar to yours in a way you guess. Actually, you shouldnt doubt, yours worked out pretty well considering whats happening to him. Despite this it keeps itself under control, and after a few minutes you let out a deep breath ad the need to feed is pushed into the back of your mind. The lab is the best place for you to be right now. Its your home inside of your home, the place where you work best. Not only that, but your lab has the notes and information that you need to better understand whats going on. Maybe after some searching you can find out more about the nanomachines and try to fix your...issues. Then again it makes sense for the nanites to need to feed, though they should just use your bodies regular nutrients for menial tasks. What they are doing storing up so much mass(or how they store it)is a mystery you would like to find out.You head down to your lab and after some searching you find the current notes. Lets see what you missed. You forgot to properly code the nanites reproduction, so they reproduce wildly, which explains your need to feed. The "need" to reproduce is quite strange though, and you cant find any reasons for it in your notes...As you read through your notes you reach for a specific paper, and grab it. But then you realize something. Your holding two sheets already...So how did you grab a third?>Cont
You look over at the paper to see that its being held by a dark purple and gunmetal gray tentacle. Before you can think on it the paper, your hand written notes, dissolves into grey goo that flows up the tentacle and towards you. You let out a scream of no as you reach for the work, and then more tentacles shoot out from your body and grip everything near, dissolving it and absorbing it all. You take a step forward but then your legs burst into multiple tentacles, followed by the rest of your body. You let out a scream as you feel yourself losing to something that came out of nowhere, and soon everything goes dark for the second time that day...>Cont
You open your optical sensors as the current area around you is taken into view. Your tentacles have currently absorbed eight times your mass, around thirty hundred pounds worth of materials, while the rest of the converted materials remain around you. The area is pure nanomachines, a grey area of shifting goo. The old host has been temporarily subsumed into the swarm, due to his incompetence when it came to feeding it, and now the swarm is currently agreeing on its next action.>Convert the rest of the internals of the home, a proper building and conversion area is needed>Conversion requires subjects, which the swarm shall go search out>BioOrganic materials required, live subjects shall be found and subsumed>Weapons are needed, and for weapons to be created old copies need to be subsumed>Other

This residence is currently lacking in multiple ways. The general areas are not needed, and instead specialized conversion and building locations must be created. The swarm proceeds to leave the laboratory, its tentacles turning whatever they touch into grey goo that spreads out and consumes. It reaches the top of the steps and proceeds to change everything, downloading data, absorbing the radio and accesing nearby broadcast, along with consuming literally everything in the home. Eventually all thats left of the inside of the house is a hollow shell, its internals being grey goo that sluggishly moves around. The swarm travels outside of its domain under the cover of night, and proceeds to head out in search of the required materials.>The next day...Your eyes slowly open as you come back to consciousness. You have no idea what happened, but the last thing you remember was your body bursting into tentacles. As that though hits you, you spring up as you realize that you're not in your home anymore. This IS your house, and it has been converted into a good storage place! You start to question how it even got this much mass, before your memory is jolted by the sight of guns ammo and power cells. When you think about that your hand suddenly has a SMG in it, formed from the good itself. You drop it and it dissolves back into the goo. Yeah, while this is all strange your going to take everything one step after another. First things first, dont become whatever you became again, and it seems the way to do that is right below you. You reach down into the slop, seeing that your hand it glowing digital blue, and scoop up a handful before bringing it to your lips. You let the thick paste flow down your throat and find it oddly tasty as you swallow it all. Your not sure what to do with all this goo and slime, but the least you can do is make the are more homelike. Alright, you're heading to the junkyard. It has both parts and space for you to use, but most importantly it has a friend. You lock the door as you leave the house and head down to the junkyard on foot. A few people give you a look, but mostly because they find the eyepiece and glowing parts as interesting. You walk through the city for a while, and eventually you reach the junkyard. The large gate hangs open, and on the inside are thousands of machine parts and bits for any to salvage if they are willing to take the risk. You walk inside and head right through it, pass a large mechanical "corpse", through a tunnel, and finally to an area full of multicolor light. A figure is working on a machine, dj headphones on her head and a set of goggles on her face. Her neon multicolor hair rocks back and forth as she works, but as soon as you enter the area she stops worming, takes off her headphones, and looks back at you with two glowing eye's. She lights a cigarette with her finger as she sees you, and looks back at you with hidden interest. Most people know her by the Superhero/Vigilante name Glitter-Queen, but you know her by the name she wants you to call her. One, the first hero to ever appear in Las Vegas VI, and your best friend since childhood.>Thread endHow was the thread? You feel a bit happy at seeing your childhood friend again, and walk straight over to her as she silently watches you approach. She doesnt seem concerned, scared, or even interested in the slightest, but then again she's always been calm and collected about everything. One lets put a puff of smoke before turning partway to you with her calm features. "Didnt expect a chemsucker like you to come visit today, normally you call." She puts a hand out next to her, and a swirling circular mass of neon light appears. You walk over and sit down on it, before she turns to you and crosses her legs."Its good to see you to One. I would have called but ive been busy as you know." One is the only other person who knew about your project, mainly because she's the only person you actually trust. She takes another puff of smoke, before laying back as a wall of light forms for her to rest on. "Yeah workin on those nanomachines right? World changing invention. Tell me, how they workin out for ya?" She looks you up and down as she says that, having most likely scrutinized what happened to you."Well One, lets just say they..." Before you finish speaking One lets out a puff of smoke and turns to you with a nonchalant look. "Lemme guess, they gave ya a Code and now your here to ask for some help due to the weird stuff happening." Like always One has read you like an open book, something she was always quite good at doing with others. "Also, before you try to change the subject, ive been good chemsucker. Well since she already knows that everything went...not as planned, you might as well tell her everything. You sigh and rest a hand on the side of your head, feeling the digital blue skins odd texture. You run a hand through your hair, something you tend to do subconcsciously, and take deep breath as you begin to recount your story. "Well lets start from the beginning One. I was working on the nanomachines yesterday, only had a little left to do, when I got anxious. I didnt want to ruin my work by messing up one of the last few steps-" One shakes her head in dissapointment while looking at you. "And decided to just test them out on yourself, thinking that everything would be alright since its your creation." She lets out a puff of smoke while toying with a neon lock of hair. "Jesus christ, whats scientist is impatient to that point mate?"You shrug, and she shakes her head again before forming a ball of light and playing with it. "Well, go on, tell me the rest of the story." You proceed to tell her everything, and by the time you finish she seems a bit more focused on the story, though still looking uninterested. "Well good job chemsucker. You managed to give yourself a Code by screwing up your project. You run your hand through your head again and sigh. You dont know what your going to do about the grey goo, but maybe if you manage to fix the coding you can stabilize the nanomachines. You turn back to One and give an exhausted shrug. "I dont know what im going to do. This has all been very...sudden to say the least. If I can though im going to fix the coding I shouldve done in the beginning." One cocks an eyebrow before dispersing her light ball into myriad smaller spheres and causing them to rotate. She then stands up, the oil on her glowing and torn clothes dissapearing in small flashes of light. "You dont say? Maybe this time you will do everything first, and not skip out on the coding halfway through. Anyway I need you to do something for me."She points at a spot on the ground, signaling for you to stand on it, and after a moment of hesitation you do so. You look at her, the monocle on your eye scanning and examining her, when she then points at a broken robot. "Shoot it.">Uh...ok. Shoot it(type of gun?)>Wait, why?>But I dont know how to use a gun!

Before you speaks she cuts you off, letting out another puff of smoke. "Listen, just make a gun, and shoot the robot. Dont worry about technicalities or whatever, just shoot the robot." It seems there is no convincing One, and maybe she is on to something. Tentatively you turn from her and raise your hand. With a quick thought a gun forms in your hands. Its almost weightless, and yet seems to be the heavist thing you ever carried. You point it at the broken robot, and look at it with a bit of focus. The thing on your eye begins examining the robot, showing statistics as well as areas to shoot. You take the risk, and pull the trigger. One shot fires, and hits the robot directly in the head. Your quite amazed that you hit it in the head, let alone hit it at all, and One gives a slow and sarcastic clap. You turn to her as she walks over to you calmly. "Good job chemsucker, you managed to hit it in the head. Seems those nanites did some good when they were off devouring everything they could find. Now I jave another test."She walks back away, telling you to stay where you are, and points at another robot. "Fire off a magazine into it. >>39849026Nanomachines don't like high accelerations and temperatures and that tends to increase as their size decreases. It is known that our nanomachines are at least on molecular scale(our dna is made out of them) so I'd say that a rule of thumb would be something like delivering nanomachines at a relative velocity higher than 3km/s is less efficient than using a solid slug. You should be able to make diamondoid AP projectiles though.
You point your gun at the robot and prepare to fire. She wants you to fire until you run out of bullets, but you have no idea how many bullets are in a clip! You begin to open fire, each shot hitting the robot in "vital" areas. You keep pulling the trigger, not stopping until the gun clicks...and it never clicks. But ad you fire you feel yourself getting hungrier, and you finally stop firing as it almost consumed you. You turn to One, who nods her head in knowing approval. "Well it seems I guessed right. You can keep firing until there is no more slime in you it seems. Thats a good advantage you got chemsucker, virtually unlimited bullets and perfect aim. Tell me, does your eyepiece tell you how many bullets were shot?" You look at it, and it says around...500. You had enough goo stored up for 500 bullets!? You start to think on the implications, when suddenly your struck by an extreme hunger. You fall to one knee, and One watches you silently. "If you need to eat, then go ahead and eat. Alright im off of work! Expect fast updates!Anyway:The year is 2256. 245 years ago, mankind began mutating. People got superpowers, and began doing whatever they wanted, with many becoming supervillains. The first true superhero's name was Codebreaker, and he managed to defeat dozens of major villains, though most of his battles involved leveling a city or two. Despite this he saved countless millions from tyranny and evil, and in his honor all powers whether genetic or technological were named Codes.By the year 2256 mankind has genetically and technologically advanced to the point of their being far more Codes than in the past. Out of the 10bil+ humans there are over 100 million codes, with only 1000 of them having thor tier power.Alright, any other setting questions? You and a number of other people are thrown almost 14 feet by the explosion, and you land on your shoulder and roll a little as others land hard as well. Unlike everyone else groaning in pain, screaming for help, or lying still, you are merely a little disturbed, feeling only a heavy flash of fading pain. Your right arm is broken and twisted, but as you watch it simply goes back to its regular shape. You slowly rise to your feet as a man in full body armor walks out with his gun raised. On he looks around silently, and turns as three corporate cops appear with rifles. They shoot at him, but their bullets do nothing as he turns and fires back, shredding all three cops in a hail of unnaturally powerful fire. To see him kill people, almost for no reason from your perspective, is quite terrible and horrifying. You slowly stand up and raise your hand, a pistol forming in it and pointing right at his head. He keeps walking, shooting precisely as more cops fire at him in vain attempts to take him down. You have sight of a cord on his helmet, and you fire at it without hesitation as your monocle zooms in. The shot breaks the cord and causes him to stumble forward a little. As the cord sparks he feels it and turns around to you, before raising his gun. "Oh your gonna regret that cybermaggot."He opens fire on you, and you're hit by the pain of three bullets entering you and sending you flying back. You hit a car hard, cracking the top and hurting your back, before falling on the ground. The man starts to turn away, until he sees you get back up, grey goo leaking from the holes before they are covered up. He readies another magazine on his rifle, as you stand and look him in the eye's. When he speaks his voice is even and mechanical."Dont know what Code you got, but it sure as hell aint gonna save your life."There is a clicking sounds as the rifle is readied, and you form your pistol in hand. Whoever he may be, you plan on stopping him, here and now. The two of you watch each other for a second, and then simultaneously raise your guns and open fire.>Thread endHow was it anons?
