You're in the fight of your life in a stopped van, fighting your kidnapper. You new friend/'sister' is on the floor of the van, scared out of her mind. You're fighting with your head spinning, and your ankles tied.

Thank God that you've got special gifts.

Right now is the ability to summon up a pair of knives and hurl them at the son of a bitch.

"Ah!" He gives a brief shout as the knives slam into his chest, and blocking arm.

It doesn't seem to be slowing him down, much. Also, he's not bleeding as much as a regular person would.

He takes another swing with his stun club.
>>
>>39888121
Wow, we are just trading heavy shots and slugging it out with this guy, huh?
>>
>>39888121
GAH! That one got you in the side as you flopped around like a fish. The vertigo is getting a LOT worse, but you still manage to keep your bearings. Another hit like that though...probably not good.

Embers reaches down and, with a grunt of effort, rips apart the weird plastic yellow ropes that were holding her ankles together.

"What?!" You ask.

"Tributary police issue is a bit better than Peninsular crap." He slams the rod down, trying to hit you.

Of course, who needs skill when your punches have the force of two or three sledgehammers behind them.

Plath blocks the punch, but you HEAR the bones in his arm crack, and he gives a grunt of pain. He's breathing and sweating pretty hard at this point.

"Ha! I got him! You see that sis? I got him!" She says.

You kick at Plath. At this point, you are at the back of the van, looking towards the driver's seat, Plath is looking at you, Embers is to the side.

Your foot connects with Plath's chest, and you feel the slightest crack, and he lets out a gasp as you knock the wind out of him, and he goes flying back.

Then you find yourself instantly behind Plath, and your foot is still flying out backwards. You ash dodged perfectly, and your foot slams into Plath's face and sends him flying the other way. He crashes through the back door of the van, which bursts open, and he lands on his head on the asphalt.

He's twitching, and giving of a gasping moan of someone in immense pain who has no air in their lungs to scream with.

Embers lets out a scream and jumps out of the van, and gets on top of Plath, with both knees on the man's chest.

"JERK! BASTARD! MONSTER! LOSER! CREEP! PERVERT!"

With each PG rated insult, she slams her fist into his face.

After the ninth or tenth 'Jerk' you're pretty sure she's now cracking the asphalt. She doesn't seem to notice the blackish red that's covering her bare chest, or the tears streaming down her face.

"Embers...Emily...EMMY!" You grab Ember's shoulders. "Both of you STOP!" You shout as you pull her away.

Embers looks at you, and then back at the pulped head of Plath. "Oh...oh no...no no...is he...is he...did I?"

You just nod. "Although I think I might hav-"

"I'M SO SORRY!" Embers says as she gets down next to Plath's body. "You'll be okay. It's just...it's just...I'm so sorry...I'm so sorry. I didn't mean...I just..I just...."

And now she's vomiting again.

When she's finished, she looks at all the blood on her bare chest, and then back at you. She shakes her head and closes her eyes.

And Emmy is back, in her overalls, and auburn hair. She clings to you and starts to sob and wail.

You pat her on the back, and gently take her back to the van.

You sit there in the van, sighing. Emmy's in the back of the van in the fetal position, sobbing.

You are fucked.

You have NO idea where you are. No idea how to get back to Peninsular, let ALONE Genesis. The van doesn't have any supplies in it, save for a blanket that's Emmy's wrapped up in.

If you stay here, you're going to starve, or a pack of hounds are going to eat you.

If you drive, you're going to go in circles, until the van runs out of battery charge, and then see the above option for the result.

You've checked Plath's pockets and the van. He had one of those small mini-Screen gadgets. It's just got a green dot on the screen. When you press it, the dot turns blue for a moment. Then a bunch of small dots pop onto the screen, a few grow. They all pulse for a few moments, and then it goes to a red arrow that points in one direction. Then after a couple of minutes, it goes back to the Green Dot.

There's also a second radio in the van. You assume that this is what Plath was using to talk to his people.

Lastly, this city looks very overgrown, and there's fallout flowers here and there. That means that there might be unsalvaged buildings there...and also horrible death.

You fiddle with the radio, as you try and deduce where Plath had come from. You're under an overpass on some surface streets. Apparently you've been winding your way through this maze of a city, and at some point were driving on this overpass...yeah, you are not getting out of here without knowing where you are going.

"Hello?" A voice says on the radio. "Hello? Girls in the van?"

"Hello!" You say. "Who is this?"

"Did you kill that horrible zealot?" The female voice asks.

"Who is this?" You ask.

"I'm not with them. I'm trapped in the University. The building I'm in is secure, but the grounds are fallout heavy. You are Joy-In-Hearts, correct?" The voice asks.

"How do you know?" You ask.

"I can see you. The traffic cams have low-CE siphons, and I hacked into them. I can see you in the driving seat." The voice says.

You look, and indeed there's a traffic camera on top of that dead signal light. It's red light is on.

"You're dangerously close to the People-Of-Joy's territory. They'll capture you for sure if you stay there. I can guide you to a safe place to stay." The voice says.

"Can't I come find you?" You ask.

"The University's not in Tributary. You'd have to drive through it. Three days, at least." The voice says. "I'll help you when I can."

"Why?" You ask.

"Because maybe you can help me get out of here." The voice says. "The People-Of-Joy said that they'd rescue me if I helped them, and I trusted them...I was terribly silly to have trusted them."

You sigh. It's not as if you have better options. "Fine. Where are we going?"

"Well...the safest places to be are where there are Joy-In-Heart corpses. You have your choice, would you like to visit a traitor first, or a psychopath?"

Guys, I have a really bad feeling. We were seen walking away with a citizen (or a citizen's child, if Emmy hasn't earned it as well), from Pytor's van, and have now as far as Genesis knows kidnapped her.

Pytor's going to be taken in, and assumed to be involve - nobody trusts traders and scavs like us. Rozen's eye is going to tell him that Pytor distracted her to cover our escape, which is true. The longer we're gone...

... the higher the chance that all of our assets are seized and repurposed, and that Pytor ends up taking a long drop on a short rope. We need to gather what we can, and find a way home.

Considering the scale we seem to be working at here, we might be dealing with city-states and not proper countries.
>>
>>39889467
Yeah they both want to reset the world

They may represent the different countries from back then though

"Give me the traitor." You say. "We off to a prison?"

"White collar." The voice says. "It was rather a scandal when she was sent there, but Love made a plea apparently. People can be so silly when it comes to obscure concepts like justice. A lot of people thought she was a hero."

"Who was this person, what did she do?" You ask.

"She was the mayor of this city. She was Joy-In-Civility, but people also called her Joy-In-Agora...the name of the town you're in." She says.

"Well, what did she do?" You ask.

"She was afraid and very silly, she sold state secrets to the Peninsular government." The voice says.

"That's high treason." You're startled to hear Emmy's voice and see her slip into the seat next to you. "Why wasn't she executed?"

"Technically she was." The voice says. "But I'd be interested if either of you could find out more."

"Why?" You ask.

"Because Agora was one of the last people to see Joy-In-Love before she disappeared into OLYMPUS." The voice says.

"What IS that place?" You ask.

"I don't know...but I think Love was scared of something...and OLYMPUS was her attempt to fight that fear." The voice says. Then it sighs. "It seems she was too late.

"Although...with you two now here...maybe there's still a chance. Of course, I shouldn't say things like that.

Hope is very silly."

END PART 8

Rozen isn't stupid enough to kill Pytor: He's a valuable asset. He'll get forced into working for Genesis at worst, especially if he spills everything he knows about us.

>>39889599
That seems likely. We are in Trib territory now.
>>
>>39889616
I like this woman. I like this woman a lot. Here's to a long and profitable relationship.
>>
>>39889616
Are you an AI?
>>
>>39889647
The way she talks is suspicious. Also she is living in a high fallout zone?

... Yeah she is obviously not normal.
>>
>>39889704
Her not being normal was clear the moment the People of Joy had an interest in her, I think. They wouldn't give a shit about normal sad shadows.
>>
I want to hear the freakout when we tell her we already killed West Wind and Gold.
>>
>>39889616
What does our regalia look like, exactly?
>>
>>39889616
Great thread Echo, can't wait til next one.
>>
>>39889854
A twin-tailed, ash covered, teleporting assassin, in thigh high, lace up, boots with steel toes and shoes, and black tights with a grey skirt. She has a grey and black jacket, a custom gask mask, and grey ribbons in her grey hair, and an ash cloud surrounds her like a haze.
>>
Did we just skip straight to a completely different arc because of one bad roll?
>>
>>39890071
At least we didn't get and now everyone hates you forever and there is nothing you can do about it, like a certain quest I wont mention.
>>
We're not going to get a chance to get our two felines anytime soon, are we?
>>
>>39892892
Just let it go. It's out of character for Lupa to go as insane for them as we have.
>>
>>39890071
Two bad rolls, and where we chose to be
>>
>>39890071
we given some warning that they were coming for ember at the end of thread 7 so yeah it works
>>
>>39893056
As much as I don't think we should go mad looking for the cats, we did bond with them at the time. If we ever return to Gold's studios, we should try to collect them.
Feline friends are the best friends.
>>
>>39897931
Pet them for a bit and feed them, yeah. But take them with us? They're only going to die if they're with us, you know. The biggest kindness is acknowledging that our Felines are not rated for Joy in Heart battles.

One Feline already lost his or her life attempting to help us. I don't want to make it all of them.
