>In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only... GOVERNMENT!
>You are John Erlwise Shabti, an imperial noble who was granted governorship over the planet Valencia. From your capital city in Valencia Prime, you over see the development of your planet and the growth of its power.
>Last Thread, we dealt with an infestation of xenos spores on our planet capable of zombifying anyone they infected
>But now, we face quite possibly our deadliest enemy... SOCIAL DINNER PARTIES
>We are hosting our rival Rogue Trader Roman Diaz and are on the look out for anything suspicious
It appears that Diaz is not out to poison you, but that doesn't mean you trust him yet. The entertainment part of the party drags on, you barely paying attention to the show you are so on edge. Suddenly, you are approached by one of your family guard. "Sir, there has been a situation. Someone has broken into the Governor's Palace. We have him surrounded currently, but he's barricaded himself inside."
>Shall we go over see this immediately, abandoning the party behind? Or do we let the guards handle this?
>>

You decide it would be best for the guards just to handle this one, turning your attention back to the entertainment. As it comes to a close, Diaz approaches you once more. "So, think you've had enough amasec to talk about business yet? I think I might have something your planet would be interested in." He says with his ever present smile. "In one of my many voyages, I happened upon an STC. Now, don't get too excited, it is just one for a lasgun variant, but I think your tech priest friends could tell you how important having an STC is. So, what do you say we make a trade for it?"
>What do we counter offer with? Do we even take the offer at all?
>>

Offer recruitment. Our men get trained by the Kriegers. We can also offer limited use of the forge, maybe help equip the recruits with the new variants?
>>

Take the offer. Tell the Mechanicus this guy is holding and STC. Or, make it look like they accidentally found out, and shift the blame from making this a second burn.

Sounds idiotic to straight up accept, really.
>>
>>39922577
Well of course we do! An stc is no small matter, and our friends in the adeptus mechanicus might have an idea for what we should trade (Read: rip off) for that stc.
Hell, even Krieg wouldn't mind if we traded some coolant with him, as long as we tell them what we're getting out of it. This would be an excellent boon to our newly formed colony.

You smile at the very idea of having an STC. "Of course I would like it." You say, remaining refined and containing your excitement. "How about 10 or 15% profit off what I get selling the las guns? Or maybe you want some of my Krieg trained men? That thing is worth planets, what would you want?" You ask, feeling like a child in a candy shop. Diaz thinks it over for a few seconds, or at least pretends to in that bargaining kind of way. "How about... 500 gallons of that coolant you have up in the north every month?"

"I had entered a binding deal with The Death Korps of Krieg for that coolant. I can't afford to step on toes, I think. You know, I do have a cruiser being built by the mechanicus, would that suit your fancy?"
Did we ask for that cruiser, or did we take the additional swag for our family ship? I forget.
>>
>>39924115
Start haggling. Signal for the techpriest representative to come over.

Offer him 200 gallons month once production starts and crates of the variant lasguns.

>Fun fact I just learned: there was another planetary governor quest run back in 2012 by someone different. The more you know, the more likely you go heretical
>>
>>39924227
You look around nervously. "Uh... could we shoot for a little less than that? I'll even throw in some of those lasguns once they're built." Roman laughs at this. "Do not worry my friend, I needed to be on my way after this party. I don't expect you to have the gallons for me right here and now. I'll come next month to pick it up." He says, reaching his hand out. "But, I will accept 200 gallons and a few crates of those lasguns. Deal." He says, you shaking on the offer. The party carries on smoothly, with Diaz leaving soon after it finishes, though not before delivering the STC. You walk back to the palace feeling good about yourself... that is until you get to the palace and see your family guard carrying out several of their members on stretchers. You had almost forgotten about the break in. However, the injuries on some of these men look worse than any one man could do. Hell, a few of them look charred.

So we're going to have to sacrifice something to get that stc, if at all. Coolant, which I don't think we should do, Krieg will provide military support to us if xenos or heretics start popping up, we'll lose relations with the mechanicus if we ask them to build another ship, but we might gain relations if we give them the stc...?
I dunno man. We could always go "Glory and my debt, you shall have", but I'm not sure it'd work. I say we tell/ask the mechanicus to build another ship, tell them we'll pay them back later, we are eternally grateful, yadda yadda give me a starship.

You see the captain of your guard, a grizzled old veteran with a bionic eye. You approach and ask him what happened. "It was the intruder sir. Turned out he was more than a common thief. He was a witch. Soon as we burst into the room, he shot bolts of lightning right at us. I barely managed to duck out of the way and got him between the eyes. Most of the men weren't so lucky." He says, frowning. "Worst part is... I don't know if he is dead. My las bolt got him, but he just disappeared in a puff of purple smoke. You can never be sure with witches. In any case sir, I would advise we be extra cautious until we're sure he's dead and there is no threat against you."
>Do we heed his advice, or act without fear, confident the witch is either dead or can be dealt with?
>>
>>39924690

Do we really need another starship right now? I think we should keep developing our industry. Perhaps we could sell the STC to the mechanicus under the condition that some of the las guns are built on our planet. The Ad-Mec would be sure to pay a pretty penny for it, to say the least. It would further improve relations with them, and they could probably put it to better long term use than us (if we have rights to build using the schematics).

Do we have resources like cameras, etc, that might be less likely to be fooled by psycher tricks?

Never know when one of those bastards is going to teleport next to me." The captain nods his head. "I'll have it done sir. Search teams will be out in 5 minutes." he says saluting before starting to order some of the men. You head into the palace, frowning at the damage. There were las shot holes all over the place, broken vases, and scorched walls. With a sigh you head to bed, deciding you'll get back to work in the morning.
>This ends this current month. We still have the coolant to mine, we still have those spore xenos on the moon, we need to figure out what to do with this STC, and we've got a rogue psyker on the loose potentially. What is our first priority this month?

You get in contact with some of the miners and begin setting up plans to expand the research base in the arctic to have more extraction devices added, as well as a landing pad so air vehicles can transport the stuff.
Meanwhile, you put all forces on high alert for any suspicious psyker activity.

Meanwhile, we have begun extracting the coolant in the north, already pumping up several gallons. At this rate, you should be able to pay Roman Diaz next month.

He says, readjusting in his bindings a bit to get comfortable. "You see governor, I can't do my job with your men following me around everywhere. So, I would like to propose a deal. I work for you, and in return, you call off your guards from chasing me and allow me to continue my work. It is important I find the source soon." You open your mouth, but he interrupts you. "After my dear friends in the ecclesiarchy give you the once over. If I find out you are lying about anything, I will have you shot. No black ships, no imprisonment, shot. Understand me?" You asks, the man nodding. "Go ahead, send your puppets at me so they can dangle their strings. I am a true man governor and speak only the truth. You will see." He claims, sitting back in his chair as you exit the room. This is turning out to be a very curious incident.
>The psyker has been contained for now, and we must await the ecclesiarchy's evaluation of him. What projects shall we work on in the mean time?
>>
>>39927466
"A reasonable suggestion, psyker. Have you any training in Astropathic Telepathy? Well certainly you wouldn't object to my calling in an expert to test your skills? Follow my men into a holding cell, I assure you they will not harm you. I'll be along shortly and we shall speak in private soon."

This is what we tell him, our plan is to have the next person speaking with this Dangerous Psyker be a trained Inquisitor. The Ecclesiarchs and the SoBs and the Krieger Commissar can argue over which particular one to send. The Krieger Commander, The Mechanics, and our RT certainly won't care if an inquisitor shows up.

Plus the meeting will give them a chance to ask us if they need anything. Within reason, of course.

Yeah. The coolent is very interesting especially in light that Diaz is interested in it. It makes me wonder if it comes from a source, like archeotech for instance, that would take a while to access. Maybe our extraction efforts would actually help him.

The next 'city' will be a mining base on the north pole. Wages and growth there will be kept artificially high to make up for the awful weather and living conditions. We might also raise taxes in the more lavish parts of the capital city to encourage poorer families and immigrants to the low-tax new mining city. Let's name the city something majestic from our family archives.

Sounds good to me. Let's put a military outpost up on the pole as well. Something about that region strikes me as strategically vital. Plus it would allow us to institute arctic military training and preparation - something that may prove valuable when we need to give our tithe to the Imperial Guard.
