Rolling around briefly in the blankets, you stare idly at the incomplete vaulted ceiling above you for a few seconds, following the lines of the marble aiming to intersect at the very top of the room.

You breathe in deeply, stand up from your bed (a temporary one, brought from Tianna), and, with one last glance at the shapely silhouette of Ririth sleeping soundly, step away from it.

The "bedroom" is, for now, rather empty, featuring merely the aforementioned bed along with a desk and few chairs, a small cupboard, and a chest stuffed in a corner. All together they utterly fail to occupy all the space the Manse's blueprints have allocated.

It's not even meant to BE your bedroom, actually, but, until that's completed, you guess you'll just sleep in whatever unoccupied space you can wrangle out of the messy construction yard that is the Manse of Pearl right now.

"You certainly work hard and play hard, mistress Maka." Millian's deadpan voice greets you as she creaks the door open, pushing a small cart loaded with a seriously oversized breakfast: a basket of freshly baked bread (some of it sliced into tuna sandwiches), a glass of milk and one of orange juice, eggs and bacon, a cup of coffee, chicken breast with roasted potatoes, and a bowl of salad. "Good thing you sometimes remember to rest as well."

"Isn't this a bit much?" You have to wonder, staring at the mountain of food your maid is literally pushing onto you.

"When was the last time you ate a decent meal?" She asks you back.

You start thinking about it.

"See?" She points out. "So, you better at least have a decent breakfast. I think it's going to be a busy day."

It sure will, you reason, tasting one of the sandwiches. The Silver Prince's fleet should arrive the day after tomorrow. That's old intel, and Ocean Father might have slowed it, but you don't know for sure yet. The Manse's structural skeleton is barely halfway complete, really showing how unrealistically optimistic your initial schedule was.

But today, hopefully, everyone should show up to help. You'll have the demons and the undead, Amata and everyone else from Tianna stopping by, and, with a bit of luck, that idiot of your brother will finally return from his escapade.

Which means that these last two days will be the busiest.

Now, you wonder, staring at yourself in the mirror while sipping your glass of milk, what should i wear for today?

Here's the usual list of clothes you can summon with Kaleidoscopic Garment Dance.

You bought Fivefold Bulwark Stance last thread, and your charm list is getting seriously long for the character sheet image. Any suggestions on how to decrease congestion? I was thinking of putting all "permanent" charms on the first page (making it a bit larger) and leave the second page for stuff you activate. Also design some icons for quick reference at a glance, and making it prettier.

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. Queen of Gem, now ruling the western island of Tianna. You have gathered a lot of allies and friends, and have a powerful Manse under construction.
But Tianna is actually an artificial island, built around a First Age Titan: an almighty flying fortress built in an ancient, forgotten age, and although this is kept secret, two Deathlords are seeking to obtain it.
The Tyrant of the Doomsday Machine, ghost of your past incarnation, seeked it as a weapon to cut her ties to the Neverborn. But you have persuaded her to try and seek redemption in the eyes of the Sun in other ways, and count her as an unlikely ally.
But now the Silver Prince is coming, to punish her and claim the Titan for himself in the name of Oblivion. And this looks like a battle you won't be able to talk your way out of...

>Solar? Zenith? I don't know Exalted...
This quest is as newbie-friendly as possible, and I want it to work as a newbie's intro to Exalted. If you have ANY question, ask in thread. For the setting, google "1d4chan exalted".

>Archive?
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Solar%20Quest

>System?
Dicepool-like system. When performing an action, everyone rolls 1d10 when posting. the first X rolls are considered, where X is equal to attribute + ability. Yes, this means that the more people are posting, the stronger Maka is, up to a limit of her attribute + ability.

>XP?
Attributes cost [current score x5] xp. Abilities cost [current score x3] xp, except Zenith costing [(current score x3) -1]. Charms cost 10 xp, except for Zenith-based charms (related to charisma and physical/mental fortitude) which cost 8 xp. At the end of every "session" (thread) you will be presented with a list of possible acquisitions.

So say our activated social and leadership charms are clumped together in a group and combat in another.

Couple that with a permanent charm list page seperate from the rest.

What I was implying is that quest readers just plain don't bother looking at pastebins. They'll be aware that they exist, and then ignore them and work off of half-remembered guesswork instead of bothering to open up another tab and read it. This isn't true for everyone, of course, but pastebins never work out as well as they should because it's true for enough of them.

You don one of the queenliest dresses you had set aside for yourself, all in sleek and colorful shades of gold and beautifully embroidered.

"Well then, what's first in the order of business today?" You ask Millian as you finish your breakfast bit by bit."

"A sorcerer from Tianna came in this morning at dawn, with a lot of demons in tow. Or so he claims, I didn't see them. He's waiting for you."

"A sorcerer?" You ask while savoring the bacon. "You mean Valeriana?"

"No, it's Aexel Asteras."

"Who?" You ask, confused.

"You never met him? He's one of the dragon-blooded working for Queen Amata. Technically, he's Tianna's court wizard, but since Amata's a sorceress as well, it's not as meaningful a title as it would normally be. You probably saw him at some point."

You try to remember. "Is he the blonde guy? Pale, hazel eyes... He has a braid, I think? Really flamboyantly dressed?" You recall someone... "I think I've seen him at the war council before the attack on the Lintha. We didn't speak much."

"It's him. Two braids, actually, and he's... he doesn't get out much. Bit of a bookworm." She informs you.

"We've got our share of bookworms." You nod. "Speaking of which, any news of Valeriana?"

"None yet, but maybe he knows. Oh, by the way, the skeletons are helping around town. They give me the creeps, but there haven't been any incidents. Mikahil's handling them, together with Phoenix and that obnoxious Abyssal girl with the chains."

"Oh, great, Speaker's here too." You groan. "Any other news?"

"One's not really a news to you, but you probably want to know: this morning the area north of the river was "mysteriously" clear of Wyld influence and reverted back to normal Creation." She air quotes around "Mysteriously". "Also, several workers have been sleeping in, have been awoken suddenly by night terrors or nightmares they couldn't recall, or had similar unexplained but traumatic experiences this night. Some people are jittery, and productivity is probably going to go down a bit, as well as morale."

You sigh. "Yeah. Let's hope the marble will make up for it." You can only reply.

"We've got masons taking care of that. I heard it wasn't easy persuading them that the Wyld is really gone."

"Is Silk in her new room?"

"I haven't checked," She admits.

"Alright. Call this Aexel fellow, I'll wake up Ririth. He probably wants to talk with her."

"Alright, but wake her actually up." Your maid warns you with a sternly pointed finger. "No second round or anything."

"We lost count at fifteen."

"I said "or anything"." She underlines, walking off.

You pull off the blankets, forcefully.

"Rise and shine, Ririth. Time to wake up. Come on, Starfall, you too."

The two of them moan in protest as you wrench them away from their doubtlessly deserved sleep.

"When did you realize I was here?" Starfall rubs her eyes and rolls around in the bed.

"Thirteen or so." You admit. "Come on, Ririth. Time to get dressed."

"Ugh." She just lies on her back in the bed, staring at the ceiling in disgust. "I don't want to meet another sorcerer. It never ends up well with them."

"Come on, we all have a job to do. And your job is to help him and the others, right now."

"What is my job, instead?" Starfall, her hair a complete and utter mess, stands up from the bed and stretches, still groggy, clumsily putting her clothes back on. She kept the goggles, however.

"Can you meet with Zareen and Five Tails and help them with security around here?" You ask her.

"Alright." She smiles, putting on her jacket. "I work well with them, I think."

"You do?" You wonder. "You're all on espionage duty usually, so I guess you do, but well, I never see what goes on with you three."

"Oh, we don't talk much, but we'll complement each other pretty nicely I think" She explains. "Zareen is... well, she's more assassin than spy, and a great shot with that bow, probably better than I am with the gun. And she knows a lot of poisons and drugs. But mostly, she's organized. She knows how to deal with stuff and handle things."

You hand her a boot she couldn't find, that had rolled out of her reach, and let her continue.

"Five Tails... different sort. She can be anyone or anything, and actually has the acting skills to pass it off. Great spy material."

"Don't Lunars need to kill someone to take its shape?"

"Five's caste can do a trick the other two cannot, She can basically weave illusions, from what I understand."

"I've never seen her do that." You notice.

"Of course not, they're illusions." Makes sense.

"What about you?" You ask her, as she slings her rifle around her shoulder. "What's your specialty in the team?"

"Me?" She grins. "I'm the magical heroine of light hidden in the dark."

You blink, and she isn't there anymore.

You grumble a bit to yourself about her showboating, help make Ririth decent again,, and the two of you head back to the "throne room".

There' you find the man Millian introduced to you as Aexel Asteras, sitting on a box, his nose deep into a thick leatherbound tome.

Now that you're seeing him, you remember him. Yeah, he definitely was at the briefing against the Lintha, though you didn't talk much. But that outfit is hard to forget.

You cough to draw his attention, and he lifts his eyes from the book. "Oh?"

"Mr. Asteras?" You ask, as Ririth shuffles behind you.

"Oh, Lady Maka." He puts the book away. "Pleasure to meet you again. The last days have been rather hectic."

"Quite. We never got a chance to meet properly."

He gives you a brief bow. "Aexel Asteras, at your service."

And then, he sits back down and pulls the book out again.

"Um." You mumble.

"...So." You cough again. "Let me introduce you. Ririth, Aexel. Aexel, Ririth."

Ririth stays behind you and you have to force her in the open. She squirms and fidgets nevrotically.

Aexel gives her a look, then puts away the book and acknowledges her with a nod. "Pleased to meet you."

And then... after like ten seconds of awkward silence just goes back to reading his book.

"...What?" Ririth mumbles.

"What what?" He replies.

"I'm a Demon-Blooded with high Ascendancy."

"...Yes, I can tell. The Seven Marks are quite clear and evident." He replies, sounding bored.

You smile. "I think Ririth thought you'd be more interested in her. Were you briefed?"

"By Amata? Yes. You supposedly have the power of freely bending demons to your will, do you not?"

"Not "supposedly"! I do!" She protests. "And... I wouldn't call it "bending". I just ask and they will do what I say."

"Demons are naturally hierarchical beings, and you have very high Ascendancy. It's a natural reaction." He flips a page. "Your case is unusual but not unique. There are other documented cases of demon-blooded such as you in the past." He gives her a longer stare, specifically looking into her eyes. You feel again your had spinning, the room's walls and ceiling bending and curving, the colors shifting... "Although one of them could well be you anyway. How old are you, if I'm not indiscreet?"

Clearly surprised by the sorceror's unexpectedly cold reaction, she hesitates. "I... I don't know exactly. Old, I think. Memories come and go."

"Then it was probably you." He turns another page. "Ligier does not mass-produce or make copies of his works, so yes, in that sense, you are very much unique. Well, tell me when we're going to start working together, princess."

It's hard to tell because of her complexion, but you can tell she's blushing as she turns around, shocked. "...No one's ever called me princess..."

You gently roll your eyes. "How's the situation in Tianna?"

"Stable. Defenses are complete. When I left, a large caravan with supplies, workers and materials had just departed, led by Her Majesty. It should be here in the afternoon.

That's really fast, but you can assume that charms are involved Either way, you feel relieved.

"What about Valeriana?"

"Lady Valeriana had locked herself in the library, last I heard. The path of Sorcery is a demanding one, but she has a strong soul. I believe in her."

"...And about your demons?"

"I'm keeping them dematerialized." He explains. "But miss Ririth can see them, right?"

"Not quite see them." She admits. "It doesn't work like eyes do. But if I close them, even just one..." She demonstrates. "...I can feel them. Sort of. You brought a lot. I never thought I'd see so many in Creation all together."

"Mostly Erymanthoi for brute labor, Firmins for structural reinforcement jobs, Marotteses for engineering..."

"...Although it's hard to get a Marottes to make what you're actually asking them to." Ririth notes. "They're always grumpy and with a head full of weird ideas. Hard to manage their footprints, too."

"Well, that's where we hope you'll help." He nods. "We also called some Sesseljae just in case."

"No Anhules?" She wonders.

"They'd be difficult to keep in check, no matter how useful." He lifts en eyebrow at Ririth. "Although maybe they would've listened to you. But you know how they are."

"...Yeah. They can be a bit vicious." She says, and her tone of voice seems to imply she's making a serious understatement.

"Sorry..." you butt in. "...But wouldn't you mind getting those demons to work as soon as possible? We're on an extremely right schedule."

Aexel slaps his book close. "Oh. Of course, sorry. I was getting distracted. Princess Ririth?"

Ririth hesitates, but then goes along with him, though she keeps giving you worried glances.

Before the two of them leave the room, you call out to Aexel: "Just one thing before you go. I gave Ririth my promise that she will be kept safe and sound and happy. If I leave her in your care, I expect you to make good on that as well."

He stops on the door and turns around. "You needn't worry." He replies, before leaving.

Suddenly, the air in the room gets a lot clearer and lighter, as if you could feel the weight of the swarm of demons leaving together with the two of them.

As you enjoy the suddenly improved atmosphere, Regis walks in.

"I heard the first marble cut north of the river is coming in. Seems like it's the best thing ever." He informs you, carrying a letter, or rather, just a paper folded in three and tied close by string.

"What's that?" You ask.

"Iohannes Quint wanted to tell you something, but you were already, er, asleep. So he wrote a report."

"Report?" You unfold the letter and start reading.

I honestly can't say I've ever heard it used like that, well I know about the former, but not the latter.
>>
>>39955199
It's the primary way I've heard it used, and it has a long history of being used that way too. It's a domestic abuse term that's partially degenerated into describing additional acts.
>>
And it is a report, you notice. Skimming through it, you get to the interesting part: while out of patrol, he found a large hurricane, more or less in the same direction the Prince is expected to come from, with strong winds blowing from south-east.

Good.

Despite this, some ships coming from that direction have somehow pushed through and, despite damage, seem to be picking up speed towards Tianna, and are expected to arrive tonight.

Bad.

You read and reread three times, but the facts don't change: Somewhere between five and ten ships have broken off from the Skullstone Fleet's 30-ship task force and heading straight for Tianna. The main force will be delayed, but this advance group will arrive even sooner than you expected.

"Bad news?" Regis wonders, looking at your expression.

"Yeah." You sigh.

>Intercept at sea? Would trying to capture a few ship before the main force arrives be a practical plan?
We could send a group, I was thinking the sneaks and have them try and clear out one of the ships and make a get away with it or we could hit them early with a strong strike force.

It's not just him. Love taps really are often used as a term in domestic abuse, just not in the way he's talking about. Men will often hit their women hard as fuck, and then defend it as having 'just been a love tap.' It's pretty common in cases of chronic abuse, and people familiar with that usage tend to have their perception of the term colored by it.

The anon you're talking to probably had a relative who used that excuse.

We have to assume that the vanguard of the fleet will have at least one or two abyssals on board. I'm leery of any advance strike when the forces they carry will be insufficient to attack Pearl or Tianna. You hand the paper to Regis, who slowly reads though it.

"...Alright, it IS bad. What's your plan?"

"To wait for them. Even if damaged, they're metal warships with essence weaponry. We're really disadvantaged in a sea battle. If we can get them closer and bring the fight closer to the shores..."

He nods. "Makes sense. Would you like me to pass this along?"

"You know what to do." You smile.

He salutes and runs away, leaving you alone in the "throne room."

For now, you don't actually have other work to do, you realize. Technically speaking, Mikahil is a much better administrator than you'll probably ever be, and you're grateful for that. It means he handles the day to day stuff and keeps everything running smoothly, leaving you with the emergencies.

Wondering how your little pet managed her moving, you head for the room that was prepared specifically for her in the Manse.

At the far end of the corridor, two large marble doors studded with iron and engraved with symbols and glyphs is its only entrance and exit. It certainly gives off a foreboding aura, enough to make sure that people don't end up opening it by accident.

In any case, you had this doors designed to be too heavy for the majority of common mortals to pull.

Even for you, it's quite an effort to force them open. But, as soon as you do, you find yourself in another world.

Quite literally, opening the door leads you not to the empty marble room you've seen yesterday, but to a vast, open-air area, filled with light and with a blue and white sky stretching far and wide. A city is built in this vast space, surrounded by tall cliffs. Parts of it are scattered here and there, without a definite centre, on hills, alongside the cliffs, on the central plains, bits of it even in the sky. The swiftly-coursing rivers are bridged to connect the various locations with glass-marble roads, but a quick check reveals that it's just one river flowing in a large circle with no start nor end.

(cont.)
>>
>>39955549
Well, this might also be a good thing. Divide and conquer.

But we can't start assuming it will be a cakewalk.
>>
>>39955617
Especially since they're First Age warships. We'd be bringing triremes and attempting to face what could be described at minimum as a world war 2 era destroyer. Coupled with a few exalts and maybe a warstrider or two that's a tall order to tackle without taking some serious knocks in the process.

I'd rather we held out and if they attempt to establish a foothold for the main force we can counter attack and annihilate the forward base.

"Maka!"

You recognize that voice. Leaping out of nowhere, Silk slams into you and explodes, as usual.

"You've... wow." You're just speechless. "So, you've done this?"

"I'm still unpacking my stuff." She says as soon as her head reforms. "This place is fairly okay. It has a bit of a supply of Essence, and it's peaceful and isolated from the troublesome rest of Creation and the Wyld. I can just play and relax here.

You glance around. "...Isn't this a bit lonely, though?"

"Oh, as soon as I gather enough Gossamer I'm going to fill it with people."

You look at the city stretching out before you. It's larger than Tianna, though it's also a lot more spread out. You try and guess how many people could live in it, and fail. "You can just... make people? Like that?"

"Well, no, not really." She chuckles. "Goblins. They don't count as people, but they can pretend pretty well. Oh, don't worry, I'm upholding my oath. They're not going to be soldiers, they're not going to be an army. Just to keep me company and to play. She gives you a slight, mischievous grin. "Oh, you can play with them too, later. We can play a lot in here..."

"I'll be really mad if you don't."

You freeze.

She tilts her head sideways.

"...Wait." You grab her, your fingers sinking inside her matter, and you shake her around in panic. "What did you just say."

"What." She seems as surprised of your surprise as you are of her previous statement."

"You mean that, like, one hour spent inside here..."

"Thirty minutes pass outside." She frowns. "Is it bad?"

"Why didn't you ever tell me you could do that?!" You shake her a bit more.

"I-i-it's just a stupid trick. So you can play twice as much. That's all."

That was related to defense of that location, which doesn't really exist anymore. It was more of an exception caused by the fact that she was essentially out in the open. At least that's how i interpreted it.

Here, she doesn't really NEED defense, as she's in an isolated realm. The only reason she could have to develop military power is offensive, really. Here I was meaning it in the sense of actually giving her back her sword and making her "whole" again.

"You... you really don't understand the implications of this?"

She seems completely confused. "What? What? What did I do?"

"...You know that normally in Creation time is absolute."

"Uuuuh, yes. But it's boring so I changed it." She nonchalantly explains. "Didn't know it was such a big deal."

"It's a VERY big deal!" You repeat. "Can you change the ratio?"

"Well, I can go from one outside is two inside, to two outside is one inside." She replies. "I could do a bit more with more Gossamer, but not a lot more."

"Well, it's perfectly natural." Silk explains. "It's Creation's fixed time flow that's weird."

"Wait, we're aging twice as fast in here?" Millian sounds suddenly worried.

You hadn't thought about that, actually.

"Well, from your point of view, no, but form everyone else's outside of here, yes. Also, since you need to eat and drink and sleep... yeah, that too." Silk, for once, explains clearly. "...Also, uh, thinking about it, I've never kept mortals for a long time in this sort of effect. I don't know how it'll turn out. Eheh."

The two of them exchange a worried glance, then back at you.

You scratch your head. "Four hours is going to be safe enough?"

"Up to a day's safe for sure. More might cause some minor mutations. Little stuff.

Millian looks like she's about to run away.

"Oh, don't worry." Silk waves dismissively. "As long as the door's open, it doesn't work and time doesn't change, of course. Otherwise people outside would see you move twice as fast inside and that would be weird."

Silk has a very weird concept of weird. "Any other issues we should know?"

"Mhhh." She glances around, as if to look for hints. She's clearly not sure of what would count as an "issue" for you. Heck, maybe this place eats everyone after 13 hours and it's perfectly normal for her? "Like what?"

You scratch your head. "Say. Things made here... do they last outside, or do they disappear?"

"That's a silly question." She replies. "They work as normal, if they can work in Creation of course. If you make something inside here that only makes sense in the Wyld, it won't survive long in Creation."

You nod. "Alright, that makes sense. It's a matter of rules, right? If something would work under the rules of Creation, then it's safe. So... what about reverse-aging?"

"No can do, for two reasons." She shakes her head. "First, I can't reverse time. No one can, except maybe an Unshaped in Chaotic Wyld, but then again, there's no time there, so it wouldn't even make sense for them to. Best I can do is slow it, so like... a time capsule effect? Spend one year here, two years pass outside?"

"Second reason?"

"Second reason is what you just said. Even if the Wyld's rules could be bent to have a person reverse-age, Creation's rules wouldn't support it, so it would get undone as soon as you walk out."

"Alright." You think of another objection. "Can you communicate with the outside? In any way?"

"Nope." She replies with a shake of her head. "When the door is open, Wyld and Creation communicate. This means they exchange time, matter, information. Close it, and this is its own bottle world. If you open a hole in the bottle to let matter or information out, then time leaks out as well."

>>
>>39957353
Actually now that I think about it, Regis and Milly aging thing will be fine because of the whole Enlightened Essence thing.

Wait do they know about the lifespan thing?
>>
"So you can't summon demons here? Or use sorcery?"

"I don't know well how sorcery works, but if I had to guess, I'd say it doesn't work when doors are closed."

"Can you avoid the mutations?"

"Sure. I can open the bottle and let time pour out normally, that way no one gets filled with Wyld inside."

You roll your eyes. "No other ways?"

"A few mutations never hurt anyone." She shrugs. Millian facepalms.

"What about... can you do this in other places? Or to things outside of here?"

"I can do this here only because this place is closed so well I can make it a time bottle. If you want me to do it somewhere else, It'll have to be closed as well as this one. Then I'd have to collect all my stuff from here, and move it to that other place. Then make the bottle there."

"So... there's only one bottle?"

"There's only one bottle." She nods.

Alright, that answers most of your questions.

"You're still not running." You tell Regis.

(cont.)
>>
You drill Regis in close and ranged combat for four hours, which means that only two hours pass in Creation. You give him some pointers in swordsmanship, unarmed combat, and how to improvise in a fight, using terrain and anything around him.

Finally, you get into the thick of the training: You throw bricks at him, forcing him to parry them with just his sword. Then, once he's mastered that, you force him to use bare hands.

You swap around, then. With his hands still beaten raw and all red and blue from the bruises, you have him throw bricks and rocks into distant windows or hitting far away trees. You get a bow from Silk and get him used to pulling and shooting it, then, giving him a bit of time to rest, you give him some basics of small-scale military tactics.

And then, you fight him. A serious fight, with no weapons and no charms, but without holding back.

And, he fights you to a standstill.

"Are you ready for your final test?" You ask him, finally, as you feel he's approaching his limit.

He replies with a barely audible grunt, as he lies on the ground in a small clearing. He's covered in bloody bruises. As tough as he is, he doesn't have your supernatural endurance, but he still held together marvelously. As for yourself, you actually have to lean on a nearby tree to catch your breath.

You're proud of him.

"I've literally taught you everything I know, as far as combat goes." You concede yourself a little grin. "I'll save your tutoring in the bedroom arts when you'll be a bit older.

He rolls over and spits a bit of blood onto the ground, trying to stand up.

"You're every bit as strong, as skilled, as fast, as agile as the best mortal fighters in Creation." You inform him. There's only one thing left for you.

Without giving him any kind of warning, you sink your fingers deep into the tree's trunk, uproot it, and throw it, spinning straight at his face.

The giant projectile covers the space between the two of you in a split-second.

Acting on pure reflex, Regis strikes the oncoming tree square in the middle of the trunk with his fist, and, in a brilliant flash of golden-white essence, causes it to explode in a thousand pieces of saw-wood. The roots and the top of the tree fly past him harmlessly.

"To go beyond." You smile, as he just falls down, his knees finally giving in.

Looking at the devastation your training has wrought on both the landscape and your apprentice, you can only think: "...wow. Either Millian or Silk are going to be MAD at me. Maybe both."

You're going to have to call Millian anyway, have her take care of him. Then...

You give Silk a quick kiss. "Sorry, I have to go. But we'll play later!"

"I'll prepare the table!"

...You prefer not to inquire further.

Leaving the Wyld room and returning to Pearl, you begin to try and organize a defense without having to compromise the speed of the construction.

And you have to say that the spectacle is amazing, a colorful host of demons, undead and humans constructing the manse at an almost unnatural speed, assisted by all sort of Exalted and weird portents.

As you begin to rally your defense forces, you notice, looking out of an east-facing window, a large caravan making its way through the grassland. Dozens of wagons, hundreds of horses.

Finally, Amata is here. And you have still a couple hours before sunset.

Looks like things are turning out for the best. Who knows? You might even survive this.

>>39969736
I couldn't care less about picking out outfits for our population. I think that's getting really far into the dictatorial and creepy range, to spend the time and energy establishing a dress code and producing uniforms for anyone other than our armed forces. I think it's a creepy waste of time and an abuse of our authority all at once.

Let the common folk wear whatever they want to/can afford.
>>
>>39969736
but how much 'Maka' would the fashion be? we don't want to be too risque, it's meant to be a really nice civilized place so they can't all wear bikinis 28/13

I'd say maybe 1/3 Maka on the Maka scale would be appropriate.
>>
>>39969756
>they can't all wear bikinis 28/13
We're actually in the tropics, if I remember right, so the island's fashion probably already trends towards bikini tops, short skirts, and so forth.

I'm 90% certain that half the reason Maka is so nudist here is that, where she's from, having exposed skin in the daylight was a recipe for heatstroke, so people wore full-body desert outfits. It must be super liberating to go somewhere that's hot enough that clothes aren't required for warmth, but temperate enough that you don't need them for shade.
>>
>>39969756
>but how much 'Maka' would the fashion be?
As "Maka" as the person feels comfortable not wearing.
We're not going to create and enforce a uniform for our people so much as start a fashion trend. At least that's my take on the issue.
>>
>>39969756
Whaaaat, of course they can. There was even talks of using bodypaint! Also >>39969773

The common folk also tends to adopt or try to copy the style of the rich and the noble, it's a natural trend. I can see at least the women trying to dress like Maka, wherever they manage to pull it off as good as her is another question.
>>
>>39969733

>>39969951
Love Taps? I never heard this being used in conversation, so the controversy earlier went entirely over my head. At first I thought it was just a permutation of the "I'd tap that" idiom.

Personally, I like it.

I would be opposed to it if it were really an euphemism for "spousal abuse", because, with the way we developed Maka's character, she doesn't strike me as the kind of person who'd do that knowingly.

But it's not, apparently. I'll ask some native english speakers before approving it, though, just to make sure.
>>
>>39969951

>>39969983
>At first I thought it was just a permutation of the "I'd tap that" idiom.
Nope, pretty much entirely confined to referring to domestic abuse in this country, and considering Maka's Exaltation's history, thats the worst possible name we could give anything that she cares about.
>>
>>39969983
>I would be opposed to it if it were really an euphemism for "spousal abuse"
It is, there are plenty of accounts where husbands tried defending their actions and downplaying the level of abuse they submitted their spouses by saying "cmon, it's just a love tap". It's a fucking appalling name for ANYTHING of Maka's. It's so offensive it's not even funny.
>>
>>39969988
>>39969993
Where the hell do you live? I haven't heard it in that way ever.
>>
>>39969983
>But it's not, apparently.
Wrong, it is, it's kind of lost the impact it's had over the years because people use it to refer to rough housing around and such among family members when slapping or lightly punching a sibling or something, but it's an incredibly dark part of abuse and mistreatment issues in marriage throughout history in my part of the world, a good friend of mine's mother ended up shooting his father because she couldn't handle his 'love taps'.

>>39970001

>>
>>39969983
That sounds good.

>>
>>39970034
U wot m8? It's the exact opposite of what you think, a love tap has always meant abusing your spouse for as long as my parents have known, and even my grandparents knew it as such.

If you don't know about the subject at hand, don't try to make shit up you fool. Good friends of mine have had their families destroyed by domestic violence and abuse and its fucking offensive as hell that you all think it's a funny joke.
>>
>>39969983
>But it's not, apparently.
No, it is. It has a dual usage now, but back in the day it was mostly about spousal abuse. There are strongly negative connotations either way.

The very fact that there's controversy should be enough to just nix the damn thing, so that threads don't get hit up with stupid arguments.
>>
>>39970034
Nope. only recently in the last decade or so has it gone out of use and it's meaning been slowly denegrated to jovial low contact violence, but its rooted in some very very dark stuff, the kind of stuff that Maka is entirely wholeheartedly against.
>>
>>39969988
>>39969993
I'll say it again, I've never heard it used like so in the past or at all to mean abuse and if Exaltedfag comes back and says it's not I'm not going to complain about it.
>>
>>39970055
>The very fact that there's controversy should be enough to just nix the damn thing, so that threads don't get hit up with stupid arguments.
Exactly this, I seriously hope EF doesn't use it, it's about as morbid and negative a thing that can be associated with something so dear and precious to the MC.

It's only a funny joke to those who have never been exposed to it in their cultures but to everyone else, it's ludicrous to even consider potentially using it.
>>
>>39970071
Well I have heard it used first hand in this context, and if EF uses it and so flagrantly insults everything Maka stands for with it then I'm out.
>>
>>39970034
Not the guy you're talking to, but no. You can watch TV shows all the way back to the mid 1900's and see 'love tap' being a frequent euphemism for a husband clocking his wife. It's the modern non-abusive usage that's the degenerated form - probably derived from sarcasm.

>>39970071
>I'll say it again, I've never heard it used like so in the past
Just because you've personally never heard it that way doesn't mean it doesn't have those connotations for many other people. It's super offensive to name a pair of artifact gauntlets that, especially with the context of how Maka's predecessor killed her child in a row with her mate.
>>

physical 4 will cost 15, spirit discerning glance will be another 10
>>
The important question now is:

Assuming Physical 4, should it be imperceptible, or should it result in Maka putting on some extra muscle?
>>
>>39970189

Muscle tone, but not crazy tone. Also no bulk.
>>
Seriously? No one wants a PD to prepare for the up coming Celestial level combat?
>>
>>39970189
Maybe some more muscle definition, but I'm against her actually bulking up.
>>
>>39970189
Impercceptible. Surprise strenght is the best, let the enemies understimate Maka's prowess.
>>
>>39970189
There is no need for more visible muscles. Maka is perfect as she is already.
>>
>>39970189
I think Maka's gotta stay soft and sexy, I'd be okay with it making itself known when she's actually being stronk
>>
>>39970189
Imperceptible at first glance. And still soft and squishy even on contact. Like the with AST and AIRS thematics.

It shouldn't be obvious that under the warm and cuddly exterior is hidden a lean, mean, murder machine.

>extra muscle
No thanks. She will end up like pic related if she puts on more muscle mass. She already has some nice definition, IIRC, so any more is a waste and unnecessary.
>>
>>39970189
If there are physical changes, I want them to be subtle at most. Gotta stay feminine and soft.
>>
>>39970194
I do, that's what I voted for

>>39970189
assuming thats what you go with, I'd prefer some muscle definition in the calves, biceps and abs thats subtle, but no added muscle, we're not on roids and our physique right now is great so nearly imperceptible would be nice, with no addition of muscle

this

how much does AST cost?
>>

>it also allows future upgrade of Regis, Millian, Spark to Phys 4 via Tiger training.
That's the actual important part. The other things are almost all better served by boosting Dawn/Night to get the same dice pool bonuses, but with increased charm access too. When it comes to our mortals, though, having the Physical 4 to train them is far, far better.

Physical 4 is the leadership choice.

This gets my vote too. Cuddling a rock is no fun.

Heh. Even if I disagree with the style used, at least the drawfag got the details right.

I'd entirely forgotten about that.

>>39958876
I'll throw my support behind
>ADAMANT SKIN TECHNIQUE: (2B) For one turn, you suffer zero damage from all attacks.
Though I'm pretty sure phys 4 will win this round of voting.

Well hopefully that kind anon updating the characters pastebin who opted for XP for that means we're closer to getting a PD next.
>>
Hey EF, a question regarding what you previously said about AST, that if we had the XP and we needed to get it mid fight you would allow us to buy it and use it right then and there, is that still true?
>>
>>39970271
I'd like AST, too, anon, but we do have both AiRS and Fivefold Bulwark Stance. We're pretty tanky for now.
>>
>>39970189
I like the idea of them being non-apparent unless she's performing some feat of great strength, in which case they show through.
>>
>>39970189
I am in favor of some nice muscle tone, but maximizing cuddle times is important.

As an aside, I also heartily approve of the new schedule, EF. It works well for me being able to follow the whole thread. Besides, I'll take as much Exalted Quest as I can get.

Yep!
>>
>>39970331
Did you decide on what to do the stat sheets?
>>
>>39970189
Is this something someone could spend art on?
>>
>>39970331
Most excellent news.
>>
>>39970354
I'd rather leave it to popular opinion.

>>39970342
I have some ideas, I'll work a bit on them over the weekend.
>>
>>39970189
I'm against any changes, mainly because if/when we get Physical 5, Maka will gain even more muscles and look ugly.
>>
So I'd say the votes are Physical 4 and no exterior change in muscle mass. And now we're at 3 superhuman traits (physical, social and zenith).

For reference Physical 4 puts Maka's lifting capacity without using charms of exerting effort at 10 metric tons.

(It goes up to 1.000 metric tons when using Ten Ox Meditation, and that stacks with effort (i.e. taking 1 unsoakable damage in exchange for boosting a feat of strength with a Physical + Night roll).

Since a Phys + Night of 6d averages about 3 successes, that'd put her limit at around 10.000 metric tons.

(I like this completely insane feats of strength table.)
>>
>>39970614
The funny part is that as Awakened mortals, Pyre Spark, Regis and Millian now use the same table and even little Millian can casually lift 100 kg weights around.
>>
>>39970614
Honestly, I couldn't give less of a fuck about the Strength part of Physical. The important part is the Stamina/Dexterity. More health and more DV is a really good thing.
>>
>>39970633
How much do they know about being awakened?

Do they know they live as long as a DB now?
>>
>>39970614
what about applying force with punches and kicks?
>>
>>39970642
That's just the increased damage/dice pool.
>>
>>39970614
>(I like this completely insane feats of strength table.)
It is Exalted after all.

Has Tia's charmset changed much or does she still have her infinite strength charm?
>>
>>39970642
That just increases linearly with stat increase, while more fluffy things like feats of strength increase sorta-exponentially.

(I know it makes no sense from a real world point of view, but I don't care.)

>>39970641
You told them that, but they're still young, so they probably don't really grasp the true significance of that.

>>39970659
She still has that, plus some new stuff she bought with her XP. (NPCs grow too! Not as fast as you, but they do.)
>>
>>39970633
>even little Millian can casually lift 100 kg weights around.
I'm now imagining her normal picture where she's holding the teacup above her head, but the teacup is now ridiculously huge.
It's amusing me FAR more than it should.
>>
>>39970681
>(NPCs grow too! Not as fast as you, but they do.)
They obviously aren't having enough sex
>>
>>39970698
I bet Tia gets XP from finding new fun things for us to do in the bedroom
>>
>>39970659
>Has Tia's charmset changed much or does she still have her infinite strength charm?
You don't even really need charms to get DAMN STRONK! as a Lunar. Warform + Anima as a full moon with base 5 Str + 5 Ath = 17
>>
>>39970614
>So I'd say the votes are Physical 4 and no exterior change in muscle mass. And now we're at 3 superhuman traits (physical, social and zenith).
If you don't mind saying, what does the average mortal stat sheet look like?
>>
>>39970817
Yeah, before we upgraded Phys, base Tia was stronger than Maka using Ten Ox, not only does she have maxed out Phys and War, she has a permanent charm that increases her strength too.

Side note, according to the new health formula, Tia had more than twice our HP before this thread, assuming Lunar Ox Bodies are the same as Solar Ox Bodies
>>
>>39970817
Tia can lift mountains, man. Girl is stronk. Wonder how hardcore their BDSM sessions are like.
>>39970687
That is really amusing.
>>
>>39970900
>Tia can lift mountains, man. Girl is stronk. Wonder how hardcore their BDSM sessions are like.
It is a known fact that they tend to destroy beds.
>>
>>39970915
And islands.
>>
>>39970900
Enough to snarl up the local threads on the loom of fate.

EF. Sids when?
>>
>>39971004
>EF. Sids when?
>implying not already
It could be anyone, could even be one of the DBs
>>
>>39970818
Generally all 1s except for one or two traits at 2, except for really badass mortals who have 3s and higher stats in general.

>>39970817
Tia can lift as casual effort what Maka can lift as maximum, more or less.
>>
>>39971082
>Tia can lift as casual effort what Maka can lift as maximum, more or less.
I'm glad our husbando is so manly
>>
I kinda want to see Lillith's party showing up in full too.
>>
>>39971551
I'd rather not, Ririth is fine by herself, the rest need not make a cameo, that's getting into dangerous crossover territory.
>>
>>39971599
I was thinking more of a temporary Wyld thing in Silk's new playroom. As easter eggs, instead of permanent addition or cameos.
