“I said I’m fine going alone!” you fume, waving you arms for emphasis “I can handle one jumped up merchant.”

“In an interplanar market” counters Sofia “full of all sorts of strange creatures, and this merchant will have guards and custom magical items, how do you know that you are not going to end up naked and collared on a slave block and dammit brain why did you that to me?”

General Sofia spends the next minute cursing her imagination whilst you lean against a handy piece of furniture, laughing your head off.

The two of you are your *Imperial Fortress* - the former home of a beastman clan you defeated over a year ago. They impressed you enough with their knowledge of fortifications and siege-craft that you offered them a place of prestige and honour in your army.

You’re up in what used to be the chieftains private quarters, discussing your mission to retrieve the Heart of Azulkire. The Heart of Azulkire is a one-use magical item that contains the powers of lots of fire elementals, and is owned by a merchant on another plane.

General Sofia needs to stay behind, as your second-in-command, and betrothed, she will be ruling the empire in your absence. You’re quite sure that you can handle whatever comes your way on your own, but maybe you should take someone with you, just to make her feel better?
>>
Once you’ve both calmed down a little, Sofia says in a calmer tone (though you can still see a faint blush on her cheeks) “All I’m saying is that you can’t be watching everyone and everything at once – you should take some guards with you, just in case, or the shamans, or the dragons, or...someone.”

That’s true, you do have all three of those options. Your guards are very tough orcs and beastmen, enhanced by your powers. They are utterly loyal but are the weakest option – they won’t serve as much more than a distraction against anything powerful enough to threaten you.

The Shamans are a middle ground: you would only take the best of them with you. Whilst they are mortal, as mages they would be more effective than regular guards against any trouble you might face. They won’t directly attack you, but if they think you are weak, they might try to turn their clan chieftains against you later.

The dragons...like your sister, you have encountered a number of dragons in your territory. Your dealings with them have been blunt and pragmatic. They were offered three options: follow your rules and orders; leave; or die. A number of dragons were willing to work with you, and you have even more than your sister does – your territory is larger, and evil dragons are more willing to work for a demon than an angel.

They are by far the strongest allies you could take with you, but your relationship with them is based upon strength – if they sensed weakness, they would turn on you.

There *is* an option Sofia hasn’t mentioned – your sister will probably allow you to *borrow* some of her friends and allies, if you asked nicely. It would be kind of weird working with them though...

“Well?” asks Sofia, glaring at you, her hands on her hips, looking irresistible in her form-fitting armour “who are you taking with you?”

How about Shnaulzer and Necolvirn or whatever their names are. They are loyal and also dragons.

Shahulzer is sorta-hibernating, IIRC.

Ok so guards, shamans, and Nocolvren and Shahulzer.

Additional thread topic: There will *probably* be a 1 year timeskip in the next few threads (depending on choices made).

Please feel free to discuss what things you want to buy for the realms of Dalvin, Oreia and the Azure Empire, as well as downtime activities (making stuff, hunting storms for power etc).

I would like some teleportation trade deals on food and other such things. I think it was once discussed that we would import large quantities of food from Drache, then using teleportation circles move it from Oreia to pretty much anywhere that would pay for it.
>>
>>40012078
I don't think Sireyi's going to go quite that far. Just purging everyone involved in the conspiracy and giving Ophilian an earful for ever trusting a Konigite (assuming she is not already taking precautions against them, that is).

>>40012088
Go away.
>>
>>40012078
That's an option, yes, but could lead to a war with Dornmer and neighboring nations.

>>40012094

Meta: I want to see Sirey fixing up konig's church. I also want to see her reaction to that amazon succubutt immigrant. And to hearing (or reading) how awesomely her daughter is handling herself.

Aside from that, maybe she could make an inspirational tour of Oreia and meet her citizens in person?
>>
>>40012112
Welp, looks like we'll have to wait a couple of years for Vivi to rise up to the top and then purge it from the inside.
>>
>>40012055
>>40012078
Perhaps think about purging the shitty church of Konig since they are planing to kill best palading Mili.

More seriously however. Airship factory for mass production of airships!
>>
>>40012130
On the topic of Minidin, I think first thing we should do as Chesi is find someplace quiet and pray to Konig for guidance.
>>
>>40012112
Sweet. Make sure to include it in the timeskip vote.
>>
>>40012143
You mean pray to The Savior, right?
>>
>>40012112
>Sure, what could go wrong?
Absolutely nothing.
The only negative of this is that it would be kinda weird for a government to run this kind of business instead of passing laws and regulations to allow it, and let a guild or something do it instead.
On the other hand, there is nothing that can beat a succubus in this area of expertise.
>>
>>40012112
Are you gunna do more belt nother stuff?
>>
>>40012088
That's pretty much what summoning Succubi already is, so you're basically just saying to make a deal with the mages guild and then take a cut.

>>40012135
You need one manufactory and 500 soldiers for each airship, each airship costs 100,000 gold and has a 20,000 gold yearly maintenance cost.
>>
>>40012055
Well, we should start building roads and other infrastructure. Create an organized military, I mean, groups of adventurers are cool and all, but this needs to be done. Start minting some coins with Sireyi's face on them. Also, try to connect Oreia's and Azure Empire's territories.
>>
>>40012186
>Are you gunna do more belt notcher stuff?

I hope so, but it's players choice. Sireyi might choose in-character to send them on important missions rather than going herself.
>>
>>40012168
No, I mean pray to Konig. Because it'll be more fun.
>>
>>40012198
I'd prefer related symbols rather than Sireyi's face. Too vain.
>>
>>40012201
I hope so too, that was really fun.
>>
>>40012201
And then the Belt Notchers became Oreia's special elite squad, taking on missions far too important that the world must never know of.
>>
Perhaps set up some training grounds for or more organized military? Or anything to help us train a better army at the moment. We're going to need proper soldiers very soon after all.
>>
>>40012055
Expand the army and set up a espionate/intelligence organization and infiltrate the other nations.

This. FOUND THE KGB, COLD WAR NOW! Get it? It's cold, because there is Killing Frost out there somewhere.
>>
>Opposites Attract
Does our realm even have any AngelxSuccubus couples right now?
>>
>>40012239
Sure, for one of the types of coins, at least. We'll probably wind up with several levels of currency, each with different symbols adorning it.

I'd kinda like for our highest level of coinage to be made out of Celestial Iron instead of gold or platinum.

>>40012238
Succubi would be really, really good at that due to their empathy, shapeshifting, spell-likes and generally higher power level. Only problem is there are probably spells specifically to detect infiltrator demons.
>>
>>40012201
The spread of heavenly succubutt pot should expand naturally, at such exorbinant rates that only the nobles of the neighboring nations can afford to partake in it.
>>
>>40012307
IIRC, /Pol/ly said that pure angels and pure demons literally do not mix.
>>
>>40012307
I'd assume that a fair amount of our ascended succubi were in mated pairs beforehand. Maybe a few Eladrin are dating some of the Reborn.

>>40012342
Opposites Attract is a Succubus/Angel/Life combination domain power that lets our angels and succubi interbreed without direct deific interference.

>>40012337
Still hoping it wilts outside of heavens.
>>
>>40012321
Possibly, but espionage isn't only infiltrating the high ranks. A few agents planted withing the population is a good start at intel gathering.
There probably are spells to block or twist alignment detection and maybe even demonic presences. Need confirmation on this. For the rest, the agent has to be good, as every agent has to. Summoning would have helped a lot with this.
>>
“Alright” you say, giving in with a smile “I’ll take the whole damn army if it’ll make you feel better.”

“You’re not taking me seriously and I-” you cut Sofia’s protest with a kiss, putting your arms around her as you do so.

“You can’t distract me eith-” You repeat your tactic.

“Please, just be safe” she begs, though a little breathily.

“I will” you say “I’ll take guards, and shamans, and some dragons that are more reliable than the usual mob.”
---
Sometime later, you enter Sidea: the City Between the Planes.

Sidea is a demi-plane that is filled with a vast city, ruled by a council of dragons. It is an interplanar hub for travellers, traders, explorers and beings from thousands of planes. And it is here that you hope to find Jamurgs Marvellous Emporium.

Jamurg is the trader who owns the Heart of Azulkire, and a number of other powerful artefacts. He specialises in rare and valuable items (both magical and non-magical) but charges high prices. He is a Djinni sorcerer and there have been those who tried to steal from him, with poor results.

The dozens of orcs and beastmen around you push their way through the teeming crowds as Nicolvren and Shahulzer walk alongside you, in their human forms. Between you and the guards are a screen of orc and beastmen shamans – their eyes wary and their clothes and staves adorned with charms.

Nicolvrens eyes are wide and she is constantly turning her head, trying to take in every new sight, very much the small country girl in the big city. Shahulzer seems on edge too, his eyes darting back and forth, but he seems more intent upon spotting threats than bargains.

Your senses bring you a plethora of details about this place: sights, smells, and more magical auras that even you can tell apart.
>>
>>40012349
>Still hoping it wilts outside of heavens.
Then we would just need to open the gates for tourism.
>>
>>40012349
Why? We get foreign nobles addicted to our pot, we can use that to get better deals out of them at negotiations.
>>
The crowd pushes against your guards and strange sights and smells assail you. You see many races you recognise in the crowd, and dozens you don’t. Traders hawk their wares from stalls and a constant hum of voices surrounds you.

With your guards pushing ahead, you make good progress, but you attract a lot of attention, onlookers wondering who the exotic demon queen is perhaps.

Finally you arrive at a wide shop front - Jamurgs Marvellous Emporium. Towering five stories in height this wood, metal and glass building has signs boasting exotic items that cannot be found anywhere else, on any plane.

You enter with your escort and a young girl of an unknown humanoid race in a smart green uniform approaches you “can I help you?” she asks with a bright professional smile, a long pair of horns curling back over her ears.

All around you are wealthy-looking individuals of different species – many have their own guards or entourages with them – some carrying chests or ledgers. It seems your own escort is not unusual, though yours is the largest in number.

Around you shelves stacked with all sorts of strange objects stretch out, it’s clear this place is larger on the inside. You can see so many magical auras of all kinds, they fuzz together and overlap.

How do you respond?

“I’m here to see Jamurg” you say “he should be expecting me.” The Church of Konig was kind enough to inform him you would be coming...which is part of the reason you bought all the guards.

“Your name please?” asks the young woman.

“The Azure Empress” you say.

“I will let him know you have arrived your Majesty” she responds, her smile never faltering. She heads off.

A short time later a tall lizard-like humanoid with red scaly skin comes out to see you. He is dressed in heavy ornate robes that are made from golden cloth and studded with jewels. He is carrying a lot of magical auras, of all kinds.

“My humble shop is honoured” he says effusively, laying it on thick “I am Master Jamurg, the poor owner of this establishment, please come sit with me and we shall talk.”

He walks up to you and embraces you, you wave your guards off.

He leads you all into a back room – a wide space with a low ceiling and a lot of chairs and small tables around the edges of the room, and a slightly larger table in the middle, surrounded by cushions.

Jamurg offers you a seat on the cushions by the central table, as your guards and allies take seats around the room. You can see none of Jamurgs guards, only his servants, who bring tea, cakes and other foods for you and your guards. Your shamans test them all for magic and poison but find none. You and Jamurg both sit opposite each other.

“You honour my house with your presence” says Master Jamurg “It is not often I have the pleasure of such a noble and powerful visitor.” The blatant flattery is amusing, but won’t sway you.

“Thank you” you say diplomatically “for seeing me, I trust you know why I am here.”

“Ah the Konigites” says Jamurg with a smile “They said you are here for one of my special items, but did not say what you wanted, tell me, what can a poor humble trader do for you?”

“The Heart of Azulkire” you say “how much?”

Jamurg leans back with a smile “Ah that is an important piece of Djinni history” he says “letting it go would be like losing my own child.”

You brace yourself for a long litany of reasons why he can’t sell it to you, only to be somewhat surprised when he instead simply names a price “forty thousand Ruc” he says “Sidea standard weight.”

You wince internally, that’s five million gold. Thanks to your conquest of the Tribal Lands, the Azure Empires treasury stands at three million gold, with more taxes flowing in every day. Still, by the considering look he’s giving you that’s simply an inflated price, he’d settle for a lot less than that.

And Sofia has plans for the funds in the treasury, you wouldn’t want to deny her the pleasure of building up your fortresses.

“A ridiculous price” you say with a laugh “I heard that you acquired it for less than a thousand Ruc.”

“As a humble merchant” he says “I must make ends meet, I have servants to pay, and rent for my shop, it is rare month where I even break even.” He says all of this whilst wearing clothes of spun gold.

“My offer stands” you say, sipping your tea “a thousand Ruc”.

Jamurg says “I am given to understand that you have created the arms of your guards?” He indicates the orcs and beastmen around the room.

You don’t take your eyes off him, it’s true, they are using blades and armour of Abyssal Brass, is that what he wants?

“As trader I could of course accept a trade of goods” he says casually “There are a few buyers I have, some items that I think I might be able to move.”

How do you respond?

>I’ll only pay in money, not goods
>What do you want? No harm in finding out the options

>What do you want? No harm in finding out the options

>>40012934
>What do you want? No harm in finding out the options
If all he wants is Abyssal Brass then this deal seems golden.
>>
>>40012934
"It's your turn to make a counter-offer, unless the thousand Ruc is acceptable." Let him ask for what he wants on his own. Makes him tip his hand.
>>
“What did you have in mind?” you ask, there’s no harm in letting him make the counter-offer after all.

“Abyssal Brass items are uncommon enough to be a curiosity” he says with a shrug “I suppose, hard as it might be, that I could part with the Heart of Azulkire for a trade of say...A dozen suits of armour, built to my specifications, thirty or so collars of dominion, weapons, amulets of protection, rods of summoning, some....”

The list goes on, and on, and on...

Nothing he’s asking for is beyond your skill, or a truly powerful or unusual item, but the sheer number would take five years to build on your own, though again, you might be able to bargain him down. You could also reduce the time taken by granting your shamans or dragons the power to work with Abyssal Brass.

“So money or trade” you say “and interesting choice.”

“Or” says Jamurg casually “this” he puts a single sheet of yellowed parchment on the table, you pick it up and examine it. It is a partial design of a single Abyssal Brass item – called the Gate of Damnation. You have enough detail here to see what it does, though not how to build it, you assume he has the rest of the design elsewhere.

The Gate of Damnation has a single, simple function: It turns people into demons. It requires a lot of arcane magic to use, but with enough mages, the person using it could approach a lower-ranking demon lord in power. Or it could be used to turn a lot of people into ordinary demons.

“This seems the sort of thing any demon lord could make for you” you say, your eyes not leaving his face “why offer me such a valuable item in return for this?”
>>
Jamurg responds “so many demon lords” he says, spreading his hands “seem to want to keep the *gift* of demonhood for their most devout followers. There are many across the planes who seek immortality and power, and are willing to part with large sums of money for it, but do not want to swear fealty to anyone. I would be a poor merchant if I did not try to sell to my clients needs.”

Ah, so that’s why he wants it – he wants to be able to sell demonhood. “Any other offers?” you ask, buying time to think.

Jamurg just shrugs. So your options seem to be as follows.

You could simply pay cash for the Heart, and hope to bargain him down enough that you don’t have to spend the entire treasury doing so. That seems to be the option with the fewest problems.

Or you could spend several years making generic items for this merchant of Abyssal Brass. He’s asking for generic magical items and armour – the sort of thing that anyone with enough money could buy in the right place. Being made of Abyssal Brass however, means that they will be much more effective against good-aligned magic and magical beings. Even simple protective items will offer greater protection against good magics. You know exactly what sort of people he would be selling those to.

Or you can make him this Gate of Damnation he wants so much. You only have part of the design here, but if he has the rest, it should take you less than a year.

Also...your mind turns over the possibilities. Jamurg will surely have skilled mages look over anything you make, but the Gate is a massively complex thing, and only certain people can make it – meaning you could slip in a few alterations that would most likely be missed, especially if they look like part of its core function.

You could make one that simply doesn’t work – those it transforms into demons would revert to their own species after a few hours or days.
>>
You could make one that subjects all who pass through it to your Dominating Touch – Jamurg would only make for you an army of slaves.

You could make one that creates a link between you and the transformed person, similar to a god and their priest – allowing you to prevent them developing certain powers on a case-by-case basis. Though they would still be free-willed, if they wanted to access certain powers, they would need your permission to do so.

Or you could put in other limitations or side effects (write-ins).

Or you could make Jamurg a counter-offer (write-ins)

15 minutes to discuss and ask questions, then a 5 minute vote will be called.

Follow-up votes for specifics may be called, depending upon the option chosen.

How subtle can we make the dominating touch effect?

It would be nice to have it be a sleeper agent type thing, or a 'WYK' keyword ala Bioshock. Is this possible?

>How subtle can we make the dominating touch effect?

You can make it so the subject is unaware of it. A powerful enough mage could detect it in their mind however.

A keyword that activates specific actions is possible, yes.

>>40013286
I feel like making the Gate of Damnation would come back to haunt us, even if we put traps in it, and I can't shake that feeling.

Not sure I want that many anti-good magic items in the hands on an interplanar merchant. I'm worried it'll result in one of our enemies using them to harm our kids sooner or later.

What about a mix of gold and abyssal brass items?
>>
>>40013286
Outright domination seems too obvious, but if we restrict powers, we can have people come to us willingly and offer gifts for services.

>>40013286

>>40013388

Didn't Bluey have misgivings about overusing that power after talking with Sofia before her and Sireyi were on good terms? Or am I misremembering?

Dominating Touch seems like it can and will backfire hard. I doubt anyone will buy demonhood once they figure out what's happening and that'll piss off the incredibly wealthy and connected interplanar merchant, which is not a good thing.

>>40013488
What do we even spend gold on? The orcs and beastmen we could get to work out of religious fervor and promises of power, we don't have any kind of trade...

I'm sure someone will catch on to whatever we do to it eventually, but unlike with the restrictions, nobody is going to buy demonhood when they know it means being turned into a straight-up slave.
>>
The gate seems like a nice deal if we put in Domination on it. Even more so if we could bargin it so that we could make some people of our choice go through it for free. That way we could get more powerful minions that WILL be loyal to us due to domination.
>>
>>40013472
I'd say the abyssal items are the most dangerous option. They could very well be sold/supplied to Derlax (is that his name?), for example, or anyone who opposes Sireyi (or any other Good alignedd entity, mortal or divine)

If that's intended to be a counterpoint, you should probably educate yourself on what a strawman is. I never said to make the abyssal brass weapons, just that using a Dominating Touch addition on the Gate will backfire pretty badly, and probably within a year, two at best.

Ok, Gate of Damnation is it.

Vote will be posted in 10 minutes, this time is allowed to suggest write in options for modifications.

Options will be a list of Y/N votes

The options so far are:

No alterations – it works as intended

Non-functional – It doesn’t work, though it will pass basic tests (i.e. targets turn back after a few days)

Domination – Those who pass through are affected by Dominating Touch, though this will remain dormant within them until you *activate* it – too fool tests.

Power Restriction – Those affected cannot develop their powers (i.e. spend XP on demon powers) without your permission – giving you a veto over power they gain.

Source of Power – Those affected grant you (rather, your sister) extra Deific Power, as if they were a worshipper of hers.

Feel free to suggest other ideas/modifications for existing ideas.

The vote will last for 5 minutes. If you do not want to indicate a preference in certain sections please use a * or other symbol instead of a Y or N.

“Alright” you say, locking gazes with Jamurg “I’ll build the Gate of Damnation for you.”

You hear Nicolvren and Shahulzer stirring, no doubt your sister will soon find out about the bargain you just made. But still, the extra power that will soon be flowing her way is sure to make up for it. And you can explain how those that use the gate won’t be getting any powers you don’t want them to.

Jamurg gives you a predatory grin “Excellent” he says, drawing out the word “I can give you the Heart upon delivery of the Gate, or, if time is a factor, for a mere 100 Ruc deposit and your signature on a contract of sale you can have it now.”

“I’d need to read anything before I sign” you say.

“Of course” he says, sweeping a hand across the table, a document appears, along with an inkwell and quill.

You read it carefully.

The contract seems to be what you’d expect: It’s a magically enforced contract that places a heavy curse on anyone who breaks it. The deposit of 12,500 is non-refundable – essentially increasing the price of the Heart, but still, taking it away today might be useful, rather than getting it in a year.

However...some of the contracts clauses may come into effect if the Gate does not work as intended or *performs other ancillary functions included by the seller but not specified by the buyer* that seems worded in such a way that it could get you in trouble. You might be able to shrug off such a curse, but do you want to risk it?

And whilst you are hear in Jumargs Emporium, you might want to ask him about other things he has for sale.

Your response?

>Sign the contract, take it now
>I’ll be back when I have the Gate (don’t sign)
>We’re done (leave)
>Do you have anything that....(describe or request item or category)
>Other (what?)

>>
>>40014282
It should probably say something like that we can't place ancillary functions with malicious intent on it. Seeing as the restrictions and the power source are not malicious in any way as they do not cause harm this should allow us to wiggle through the contract without a curse cast upon us.
>>
“I’ll be back when I have the Gate ready for delivery” you say, sliding the contract back over to Jamurg, unsigned.

He collects it, and his confident countenance doesn’t seem affected at all.

“I look forward to our next meeting” he says with a smile “before you go, can I interest you in anything else?” He hands you a sheaf of documents that you look through, ah yes, there’s the rest of the plans.

“No, thank you” you say “We’re done for today.”
---
Outside the Emporium, in the streets of Sidea, Nicolvren asks “are you sure that was a good idea? I mean, what will Sireyi think if you hand that man a way to turn anyone who pays into a demon?”

“That it was the least terrible option” counters Shahulzer “The Empress didn’t have much choice: either she empties the treasury, spends years working to make items or she gives him one item-”

“Whilst trying to minimise the harm it can do” you finish for him. To Nicolvren you add “we need the Heart of Azulkire to defeat the Killing Frost, we can worry about consequences later.”

“Alright, I guess” says Nicolvren, but she looks troubled.

“Empress” asks one of the senior Shamans “shall we return?”

You look around at the city of Sidea: it seems anything anyone could want is on sale here. You could head straight home, or you could go shopping for yourself, or buy things useful to your nation, or gifts for your betrothed.

What do you do?

Guys, I have a serious question. Who is the better waifu? I mean, Jal is out of the question, she is shit, but who is the better waifu out of Sofia and Isla? Is it Sofia, because there are TWO SofiaxSireyi relationships? Or is it Isla, because she is less likely to betray Sireyi, and also because she managed to bear more children in a shorter time span than the other two waifus together? Help me out here, guys.

Better waifu is the one you like second least.

In all seriousness though, I rather like Isla. She talked down that one undead servant guy into not sacrificing Sireyi to the Lord of Life, she actively helps out researching useful magic stuff, and is pretty much the one of the only original cast members who hasn't faded into irrelevance yet.
>>
“Not yet” you say to the shaman, to Nicolvren you add “I think it would be nice to get some things for my sister, and her family, any ideas?”

Nicolvren considers this “I think Sireyi was struggling with ideas for a holy symbol” she says “maybe a book on different types of holy symbols”.

“Good idea” you say “and you can’t go wrong with toys and new clothes for kids, I’m sure Isla will appreciate something suitably strange from another plane, and anything that can be mistaken for...a certain something else will amuse Jal.”

And so you set out, spending several hours buying various souvenirs for your extended family: A book on holy symbols for Sireyi; toys and clothes for the younger children; a beginners book of magic for Vivi; a quill that writes down what someone says, for Mili; a strange....thing from another plane for Isla; a pair of riding gloves for...the other Sofia, and for your Sofia you....

Are somewhat torn. You’ve looked through several shops and narrowed your options, sort of.

You could buy her that ornate golden suit of armour – it looks much more impressive than her usual black armour, and the protective magics on it are well, adequate, you might add to them.

Or you could buy her some non-magical jewellery. It’s a nice gift, and she doesn’t have anything that’s not orc- or beastman-made right now, and their taste in ornaments is...lacking.

You also saw a very nice longsword with some interesting enchantments on it: it looks like just a hilt but when used it creates a blade of brilliant energy, and it returns to the wearer when thrown, or can animate and dance alongside the wearer.

Or maybe you’re making up for Jal not being part of your life: There was some very fine lacy black underwear in a shop back there.

What do you buy for Sofia?

You buy the sword; that seems very useful. If you’re reading the enchantment right, it can cut through even magical armour.

The jewellery will make a nice gift for her: a beautiful pearl necklace and two ruby-studded bracelets.

And the underwear, well that might be more for your benefit than hers, but you will enjoy persuading her to wear it. You consider getting her that slave collar she mentioned by accident, but no, you need to save some fun for your wedding night.

With your purchases all wrapped up, you and your entourage head back to your own plane.

You have a lot of work ahead of you, A Gate of Damnation is going to take a lot of your power.

You are Chesistia of Clan Blacktalon, succubus and the first paladin succubus ever, or at least one day you will be. You are 8 years old, and are attending paladin training at a church of Konig school.

http://pastebin.com/RE8br4uf

You and your friends are all up late at night. You are sneaking into Instructor Ophilians office to discover what has happened to your best friend Mili. Instructor Ophilian won’t tell you, but she will probably have a report hidden in her desk about it.

However, on your way there you overheard two other instructors talking. According to them, Mili is away in the city of Dornmer doing boring ceremonies for the priesthood of Konig, and when she returns she will be attacked and killed – you’re not going to let that happen!

But you have more immediate problems: in your eagerness to hear what the instructors where talking about you tripped and banged your head against the door and they’ll be coming out to see what the noise was.

Added to that, you’re scared, hungry, and angry. Your horns, wings, claws and tail are all trying to emerge and you *really* miss your friend.

What do you do?

You run away as fast as you can, but when the door opens and light pours into the hallway, one of them spots you.

“Hey you” he shouts “get back here!”

You keep running as fast as you can. You can hear footsteps behind you, and voices.

“What’s that?” says one voice

“Student out of bed” says another

“What did she hear?”

“Enough to put us both in the ground: keep up!”

You run as fast as you can, but in your haste you end up in a dead end side passage, your only escape blocked by a locked door.

You can hear them getting closer, you can feel their fear, their anger, their....desire, only its a strange desire, all mixed up with anger you think it’s not about doing anything you will enjoy, or maybe even survive.

They’re at the end of the passageway, you can see the light of the lamp one is carrying, when they come round the corner they will see you, and then it will all be over for you.

In desperation, you start to pray “Konig, Lord of War and Rulership, I’m sorry I broke the rules, I’m sorry I wasn’t strong enough to help Mili, if you can hear me, please protect Mili, I don’t want her to die, and please can you tell her and my mama goodbye, and that I love them both and-”

The light comes around the corner and falls on you, and your next words freeze in your throat, both of the men are at the end of the corridor, the light blinding you.

“Where’d she go?” asks one

“Must’ve cut through the west passage” says the other “c’mon!” They both rush off.

Your brain is a little scrambled, how did they not see you? You were right in the middle of the corridor, in the light of their lamp!

As the sound of their footsteps fade, your brain starts working again: You need to warn your friends! You need to tell Instructor Ophilian! You need to save Mili!

What do you do?

You don’t know why those two stupid-heads didn’t see you, but now is not the time to wonder, now is the time for quick thinking, decisive action and maybe some violence.

You head off to get a grown-up who can do all of that: Instructor Ophilian.

Cadets are not supposed to go into an Instructors quarters but Instructor Ophilian showed you hers and told you and your friends to come to her even at night if there was a problem.

You rush to her quarters as fast as you can and start hammering on her door. Eventually it opens and a half-asleep Instructor Ophilian looks down at you “Chesi?” she says tiredly “What’s going on?”

“I was chased by some grownups who are instructors but they’re bad and I think they want to hurt me and they were talking Mili is in danger there’s a dagger and cultists and they shone a light but it didn’t see me and when Mili comes back from Dornmer there are gonna kill her!” you blurt out in a rush.

Instructor Ophilians eyes widen, and she seems awake now, she grabs you and pulls you into her room, shutting the door “what did you say about Mili being in Dornmer?” she asks “slower, please.”

You take a deep breath, try to ignore the waves of fear and anger coming off Instructor Ophilian, and you explain.
---
Later, you are creeping through the corridors, back to where the two instructors were, but this time, Instructor Ophilian is with you, except you can’t see her.

“Are you sure this will work?” you whisper.

“Of course it will” comes Ophilians voice next to you “the potion will keep me invisible for hours, but I need you to get them to admit planning to hurt Mili.”

“But what if they attack me?” you ask

“Then I’ll stop them” promises the invisible Ophilian “But they’ll face a smaller punishment, now go on, scoot.”

You can see their light up ahead, and you can feel the grown-ups emotions, fear, anger, and a little panic, good, let them worry.
>>
>>40015401
okay, that'd be funny
>>
>>40015884
Better to play the character and make a bad decision than try to be an optimal choice machine.
>>
Instructor Ophilian said that if she hears them planning to hurt Mili, then there’s nothing they can do to escape justice, but if it’s just your word against theirs, they might escape punishment. And if they hurt you, they will still get in trouble. You didn’t want to do this, but Instructor Ophilian promised to tell you where Mili was if you helped.

The light is getting closer now, what are you going to do?

This has to be bait, right? I mean, do you really think Sireyi would be ok with a plane where sentient children can be bought like property if she didn't have to worry about LoL destroying her own plane?
>>
>>40016098
Actually, Sireyi could've left Drache well before she killed the demon lords, without helping Ellahi at all. As soon as we got the contract with Ebby, all we'd need to do is study arcane magic until we got Plane Shift without having to do anything else to help anyone on the plane. She went out of her way to kill the demon lords and help Ellahi with her efforts to pave the way for a new government.

The only difference between conqueror and savior is perspective.

She didn't have to help the Succubi when she went to Hell either, but she couldn't ignore their suffering. She can't ignore anyone's suffering.

You wait until the light is almost around the corner, and then you give a loud “Eeep!” of fright, and start running.

“There she is!” you hear a voice try to whisper and yell at the same time “catch her!”

They chase you for what seems like hours before a grasping hand catches your hair and jerks you back. You can’t hear Instructor Ophilians footsteps, did you lose her?

You struggle and bite and kick but you’re only small, and these are two grownups and old soldiers. You are restrained, one with his arm wrapped around your throat and twisting an arm painfully up your back as the other stands in front of you. You take a breath to scream and the arm around your throat tightens and all that comes out is a low whimper.

“It’s the hellbreed” says the one in front of you

“Of course it is” says the one behind you “the familiar wonders where her owner has gone, eh?”

“What are you doing?” you croak out “You’re hurting me!”

“What did you hear?” asks the one in front, when you don’t answer, he slaps you, hard. Your vision blurs and your head rings, it’s hard to think.

“Well?” he asks

“Won’t let you hurt Mili” you say fuzzily. You recall you’re supposed to get them to say something, but what, you don’t know, you focus on what is important – keeping Mili safe.

“She heard enough” says the one holding you “Jer we’ll need to bury her someplace she won’t be found for a while.”

The one in front of you, Jer, slaps you again “Stupid little slut!” he curses “now we won’t get to be there when they kill the false child.”

He punches you in the stomach and you gasp and choke, barely able to gasp out “Leave Mili alone...”

Jer leans down until his head is next to yours “just before we cut your throat” he whispers “I want you to know that Milerna Jalweyen is going to suffer a great deal before they finally stick that dagger in her heart!”
>>
No! Mili! Everything starts to go dark as the arm around your throat tightens. Then you’re floating.

No, you’re flying through the air wha- Ow! You hit hard stone, sliding down the wall, when you come to your senses you’re lying on the floor in a heap, looking around you see Instructor Ophilian wearing her nightshirt and holding her longsword to the throat of one of the Instructors, the other one, Jer, is lying on the floor, blood all over him, but from the bad words he’s saying, he’s alive. You can feel anger coming off both of them, and fear, mostly fear. You can also feel your wings, tail, claws and horns are fully out, you must have transformed whilst you were out of it.

From Instructor Ophilian you feel....nothing, like she isn’t there anymore. But you can see her right in front of you. Her back is to Jer, and he is between you and her.

“No Grant” she’s saying to the instructor who has her sword at his throat “you won’t get off that easily” you notice he is holding the stump of one arm with his remaining hand, and his arm is over there by the...Oh gods you feel sick...

The severed arm has a dagger lying next to it.

“You can’t stop us” says Grant “The ambush is already set, the false child dies tomorrow!”

Instructor Ophilian shakes her head sadly “A ruse” she says “a transformed angel is in Mili’s place, she’s not even in Dornmer.”

Grants eyes go wide “You lying pointy-eared filth!” he yells “Why?”

You see Jer starting to stand, a dagger in his grip, his eyes fixed upon Instructor Ophilians back, as she faces Grant.

You leap at Jers back, claws on your hands and feet extended. Just as he’s raising his dagger to strike at Instructor Ophilians back you land on his, your claws biting deep as you rake at him, your wings tearing through your nightgown and flapping as you try and keep your grip.

Jer bellows in pain and tries to shake you off, suddenly his head jerks back and you hear another yell, from Grant you think. Then you feel *something* wash over you and Jer freezes still, like a statue. Looking over his shoulder, you see that Grant has frozen too, and Instructor Ophilian is flexing a hand, like she hurt it.

With Grant and Jer frozen by magic, Instructor Ophilian shakes her head in disgust “We’ll see these two to the cells” she says to you “And then we’ll talk about this in my office, there are some things you need to know.”

Instructor Ophilian says a prayer to Konig and then touches you with a glowing hand. Your head and your throat stop hurting, and your fuzzy thoughts clear up.

Instructor Ophilians Office! You remember what you and your friends were doing tonight, you try to think of a way around this as Instructor Ophilian calls for help and has the two bad grownups taken away to the cells, but you can’t think of any good excuses.

You’re still trying to think of a good excuse when Instructor Ophilian leads you towards her office and you find Thomas and Gilyan leaning on each other, asleep, sat against the wall just outside her door.

“What in Konigs name...?” asks Instructor Ophilian

“Ah....” you reply as she sweeps past you, into her office “what is going on here?!” she yells, you can feel her anger, and Sera, Jenny and Michaels fear and shock.

Next to you, Thomas and Gilyan start to wake up.

“Chesi?” mumbles Thomas “You look, different...”
---
>>
The next morning, you are all standing in Instructor Ophilians office as she lectures you “-irresponsible and risky!” she concludes “not only did you break the rules but your entire plan was flawed, your lookouts fell asleep and my desk is locked by magic. I’m disappointed, now, dismissed!”

You all start to sheepishly file out and Instructor Ophilian says in a warning tone “Chesi, remain behind.”

Your friends give you sympathetic looks as they file out, you gulp, you can feel Instructor Ophilians anger.

You turn to face her. Instructor Ophilian is sat at her desk glaring at you, her arms folded.

“Where’s Mili?” you ask stubbornly, not one to be swayed from your purpose.

Instructor Ophilian stares at you for much longer than you’re comfortable with and then she says quietly “Chesi, I’m going to tell you a secret, but you must *promise* not to talk about it with anyone other than Mili, do you understand?”

“Yes Instructor Ophilian” you say quietly.

“And do you promise?” she asks

“Yes Instructor Ophilian” you say.

She sighs “Where to begin?” she asks, you don’t think she’s asking you.

“Ok” says Instructor Ophilian “Lord Konig has...plans...and Mili is a part of those plans. The past few days, Mili has been in Konigs Heaven, learning...some things. When she returns she will see things differently, see people differently, it’s important that you be a good friend to her.”

Uh duh Instructor Ophilian, like you would be anything else, get on with it.

“Mili has been given an important task to do” continues Instructor Ophilian “given to her by Konig personally, it’s going to be difficult for her, and she is going to need her friends behind her.”

“What sort of task?” you ask

“Building a new church” says Instructor Ophilian softly “from the ashes of the old one once the dust settles.”

That doesn’t make sense, the church hasn’t burned down, and besides, Mili doesn’t know anything about building things, grownups can be so confusing!

“When will she be back?” you ask

“Later this afternoon” says Instructor Ophilian “once the switch is completed on the road.”

“Can’t I go and see her?” you ask

“No” Instructor Ophilian shakes her head “now get to class.”
---
In class, Jenny keeps trying to get details of the fight from you.

>Sofia is going to be incredibly pissed.

You have no idea how pissed she is going to be, gonna be fun to watch though
>>
counting it up I think focusing on the lesson + fun and the right thing won.

please roll 1d20 for learnings
>>
>>40017715
You aren't going to leave our first encounter with Konig as Mili behind the scenes, are you?
>>
Rolled 14 (1d20)

See what you learn.

I'm pretty strongly against fun though, and it was nowhere near half the votes either.
It seems kinda stupid to me, tbh.
>>
>>40017737
There will be flashbacks
>>
>>40017753
well I blew it.
>>
>>40017761
and cake?
>>
>>40017768
Chesi is an action gal.
>>
>>40017737
I hope he does. I get the feeling it'll just piss me off like virtually everything else Konig does.
>>
>>40017731
>fun and the right thing won.
Just the right thing won, actually.
>>
>>40017781
They go well together.
>>
>>40017731

So how was the debrief of Faian-Throkos by Sireyi?

Must of gotten kinda interesting once they figured out she was summoned by a 'follower' of Konig there.
>>
>>40017848
I disagree, and I find Fun makes no sense at all. Actually angry would work way better together with it. Righteousness and battle lust doesn't go well together at all.
>>
>>40017848
Not really, no.
>>
>>40017848
>>40017877
>>40017909
Its a moot point, it didn't win the vote, pally thought it doesn't hurt including, he was told some thought otherwise, so it doesn't get included.
>>
>>40017703

Given that his initial plan to straighten out the nobles was to integrate them into his church, I'm pretty sure he would've been better off hiring some sort of divine consultant to restructure his church.

Wonder how Sireyi would react to this news.
>>
>>40017927
It doesn't really hurt including it at all, though. Having the joy in upholding justice is a great things for paladins.
>>
>>40017948
>It doesn't really hurt including it at all, though.
I disagree, it didn't win the vote because the overwhelming majority didn't want it either.
End of discussion.
>>
I'm not including *Fun* in the write-up, in case anyone was wondering.
>>
>>40017948
>Having the joy in upholding justice
Thats not what that vote for Fun means though, maybe you should pay a bit more attention. It means Chesi found it fun to fight people, thats not the same as finding fun in upholding justice, its a completly seperate thing.
>>
>>40017989
You are thinking of them separated, I am combining both into one single thing. FUn conditioned by doing the right thing.
>>
>>40017945

Probably a bit miffed.

Then again it sounds like Konig did not really understand how badly the rot spread in his church on this plane.

Someone, somewhere is likely plotting something deeper.
>>
>>40018007
Because they are in this vote.
What you like to combine isn't really relevant.
>>
>>40017945
Imprison the traitors, attempt to redeem them all one by one.
>>
>>40017945
Probably mad. She's not really on friendly terms with Konig due to that whole "sending her waifu recurring nightmares for months about her and her children dying if she doesn't leave Sireyi and (IIRC) trying to drive her towards one of his paladins" thing.
>>
You ignore Jenny and focus on the lesson, eventually she stops pestering you.

Still, her questions do make you think about what you felt when you fought. You felt a little bit of everything: Anger, fear, even excitement. But most of all, more than anything, you felt like you were doing the right thing, you felt...at peace.

You had thought Instructor Ophilian wasn’t feeling anything, but instead you think maybe she was feeling what you were feeling, a sort of not feeling anything, but knowing what you were doing was right. You wonder if there’s a word for it.

You focus on the Instructors words as she talks through the principles of arcane magic, the same, dry and dusty and boring and stiff stuff that seems wrong to you. You feel yourself nodding off.

And then...

“Of course” says the Instructor at the front of the classroom, you think her name is Instructor Fiona Tanner, “that’s only one way of looking at things, sorcerers and creatures with innate magical abilities use arcane magic in a much more intuitive way, less like this” she indicates a magical symbol on the chalkboard “and more” she starts to draw a different one “like this.”

As she draws the symbol you recall that Instructor Tanner only turned up yesterday and she’s not like the other instructors, she’s younger than any of the other female instructors, and much prettier. And when she walked past you, you felt warm, like standing near a fire.

You stare at the symbol on the board, copying it down ;like the other students, but something about it...fells...familiar...and...makes....sense...somehow.

[Chesi Arcane Energy unlocked: 8]

Once she has finished the symbol, Instructor Tanner turn round, looks directly at you, and winks.

Wait, her initials, could she be...

And that’s the end of the thread. Next will shift back to Mili PoV.

Thanks for playing, and I hope you had fun. There will be revelations in next thread but to avoid any arguments I will say this: Konig has not brainwashed Mili.

What he has done is given her a new power and taught her how to use it. You will find out more next thread.

And yes, Sofia is going to be mad when she finds out.

Next thread will be saturday, brit afternoon, time to be determined.
>>
>>40018119
Thanks for running Pally.
>>
>>40018119
Thanks for the thread.
>>
>>40018119
Thanks for the thread.
Didn't expect her to come as magic instructor though.
>>
>>40018119

How mad?

Like on a scale from "What the hell did you do to my daughter?!?" to Legendary Super Sofia, how mad would she be?
>>
>>40018119
>Konig has not brainwashed Mili.
Thank you for saving us from that.
>What he has done is given her a new power and taught her how to use it. You will find out more next thread.
>Next thread will be saturday, brit afternoon, time to be determined.
That was cruel Pally.

Somewhere between *Konig will need a good proctologist to remove my foot from where its going* and *burn it all down, all of it*
>>
>>40018079
Did he ever apologize for that?
>>
>>40018221
That would require him to acknowledge he did something wrong.
Konig isn't very good at remorse.
>>
>>40018217

How much worse will it be if she finds out the plots running around in the Paladin school.

I guess we found out who the new teacher is too.

She obviously does not like home if she considers teaching in a holy school for paladins safer.
>>
>>40018217
Is Perfect Existence a Cell reference?
>>
>>40018250
Not intentionally, but I was clued in to the accidental reference by a proofreader.

I may rename.
>>
>>40018151
Uh, who is it?
>>
>>40018289
Instructor Fiona Tanner
F.T Faian-Thrakos
>>
>>40018289

Succubut Mili freed on conditions she went right to Sireyi without hurting anyone.

Considering the amount of people here who may have some sort of touched blood, adding in symbols for them that may help them is quite a good idea.
>>
>>40018316
What. Who authorised that? Literal demon as instructor in paladin school? Fresh out of hell?
>>
>>40018349

Probably Konig himself.
>>
>>40018349
>Who authorised that?
I heavily suspect the phrase "Let her teach there or I tell Sofia about your security fuckups concerning Mili" or a variation was used.
>>
>>40018377
If that's the case I just keep liking his style more and more.
>>
>>40018407
Why do you like it in the first place, and why are you assuming Sireyi didn't have to twist his arm to get him to do it?
>>
>>40018423
You really like to hold grudges, don't you anon?
>>
>>40018439
So bait. Got it.
>>
>>40018439
To be fair to that anon, Konig does keep giving us reasons to dislike him, so its not a matter of holding grudges.
>>
>>40018423

I figured there was likely a strong debrief of her, by first Sireyi and then a high tier angel of Konig.

She probably happily converted to Sireyi worship too.

Probably had a willing gaess or something thrown on her or conditions regarding the safety of the students. Magical items to hide or shift alignment too.

May of also been sent as additional safety for Mili.
>>
>>40018514
Think you replied to the wrong post.
>>
>>40018477
Fucking bastard, how dare he teach Mili useful skills and save Chesi from death! Fuck him, fuck him right in the ass!
>>
>>40018423
Because he's a pretty cool guy that's surprisingly open to unorthodox solutions for a "no fun allowed" paladin god.
>>
>>40018250
What's perfect existence?
>>
>>40018542

I guess i did, oh well.
>>
>>40018578
A part of the Life MMA.
>>
>>40018557
>fuck him right in the ass!
Chesi is too young for that anon.
>>
>>40018565
I don't consider him to be the former. Overall, I'd say he's okay at best.

I can't really recall him being open to unorthodox solutions and that alone wouldn't be a redeeming factor.

>>40018557
Well, the former of those is actually really annoying, especially thinking back on the whole pitch he made around when the decision to first send Milerna was made.

Nobody said everything he does is a reason to hate him, but the things he does that make us dislike him tend to outweigh the things he does that are likable by a lot.

>>40018899
A lot of our followers don't die of old age, so hopefully the older ones will kick the younger ones teeth in if they pull this crap.
