The day is chill while the sun rises on the Orc stronghold, the greenskins a mess of hangover, sexual exhaustion, and just plain sleep. Edwin rises from a bed of furs as you finally get tired of counting stars.
"Edwin." you state simply. "This has been a fine partnership." you say, indeed, you have rather enjoyed your time among the orcs. A strong opposite and yet a kindred spirit lies within them - powerful arms and legs drive a soul of contention and power. You can feel it - the aspect associated with combat and victory, a core Aspect, Veritas, hums in the air here like a gentle current.

The three orcs have to be roused, of course, and you still want to talk to that powerful woman. The morning is gentle and quiet, however, your kobolds sleeping, curled up snout-to-tail in a group not far off.

"Aye. It's been damn fun, dedman." Edwin agrees. He finishes cleaning his gun. "'Owever, I'm sure we both 'ave to head home, aye?"

You nod. "An' whatcher plans this fine morning?"

"I must rouse my new fighters." you say, wandering over to them, poking them with care. They rise with a grumble, readying weapons and bodies. Edwin follows as you gather your men and items scattered during the party.

The great woman warrior is standing in your way suddenly.

"This one will join you. Fight many battles. Train many fighters. Feast on many hearts!" she says, hefting her scarred arm. "Fiona Thunderscar is ally! Punch faces!"

"... Certainly. We'll have to work on that Common." you say - some of your kobolds speak better than she does. You shoo one from your knees. "Gather your belongings. We leave soon."

She nods, and Edwin walks up beside you. "We can't take the hidden path with this many people. We'll need to go one of two ways."

"The dangerous path, methinks. It's time to test our new men."

"Aye."
It takes the better part of an hour to load up everything everyone needs. A collection of rough swords for Fiona, maces for the Brothers, and other things in a cart driven by a strange-looking boar.

"It's called a Shotsnout." one Brother states. "It eat rocks and grass. When rocks smooth, from belly and grass, they move to nose. And then it sneeze, hard-like." he says, "Very strong. Very loyal. Like dog, but tows much weight."

There's only one, but it happily pulls along at least a thousand times its weight.

The trip is mostly uneventful, but deep in the mountains you sense...

Justice.

Not good, nor evil. It feels like a sense of perfect balance, absolute order, true law. Divorced from holiness, from evil, it simply /is/, and when you look up, all you glimpse is a form like fog that slips away. You feel watched, but pay it no mind.

Fucking fae.

Fae are elemental beings of various concepts, powerful and mysterious. Most spring from stories, many from belief - a blacksmith sprouting a fae within his forge is not unheard of. But Fae are not to be trifled with, caring for little but their own agendas, and to make a deal with one is to invite disaster.

You sit at camp with your new allies, watching, waiting for danger.

"It has been some time since I lead an army." you say, "And I am somewhat divorced from the needs of mortal men and women. Perhaps you could advise as to military concerns?"

"Army no good hungry." one brother states, the others nodding. "Supplies. Vehicles, make us less tired. Armor and weapons."

"A leader." Fiona states. "Capable. Strong."

"Aye. You've the equipment, methinks. Just got to train and rally some men, that's all."

Agreements. A kobold speaks up about cunning, which you find appealing.

You decide not to mess about with the fae, and continue forth into the woods, enjoying the cloying feel of rot and disease as you near your home. The orcs seem to care little about the loose, slimy earth and the rotting trees, nodding as you enter your fortress.

"It's about time you got... here..." Your spy begins with an angry rant, then slows and stops at the sight of the orcs.

"Report." you state, then cackle at her reaction to the newcomers.

"Yes. It seems that a local church of Galandel has ordered an investigation of our territory." she says. "A druid and a cleric will come through. I don't... think we can hide this time. Word is that any suspicion will lead to an armed movement."

"What sorts of numbers?"

"The city guard as a whole... So, I don't know, maybe fifty?" she says.

Hmmm....

Those odds...

"Listen, we have a month. If you can prepare properly, this could be a chance." she says. The Templar's prescence is gone, as well.

>Arrays

Arrays are a special piece of the puzzle for enchantment. You find a single Array, deep in the library: Sword Array. This allows you to enchant weapons en masse with Aspects.

In this array you have three points. The Active and the two Passive aspects.

The Active aspect names the aspect in the enchantment that primarily acts.

The passive ones change or improve that actions.

For example, a Rot aspect in a sword would make that sword infect its wounds with terrible, debilitating rot. Augmenting that with Evil makes that rot raise the victim as a zombie upon death. Doing so with Ice or Fire would induce diseases, like a fever or a cold.

Keep in mind: Aspects must be removed from things, typically living things, and then applied to an Array to mass-enchant items. Further, Array enchantments are weaker than specific ones.

Not likely, they tend to be a higher quality and they do tend to be fully sentient and can talk to others. That likely does not come cheap.
>>40058121
Alright, either works for me.
>>
>>40058080
You work quickly - you'll need something to gather the materials after the strike. Your kobolds will be enough to slaughter the town, along with your men and women. But after...

It's simple enough to get iron from the Armory. Bolting dead muscle mass to the plates, securing bone spikes to it... The interior is heavy, cord-like muscle and thick bones from the larger bears. The spikes on the back are made from boar tusks. The whole assemblage groans when you give it life, and you're so pleased with the results you make three more.

Collectors have the following capabilities:
>Double-muscled
Collectors can exert more force than their form, already impressive, seems to convey. They often stun opponents with their blows, making it easy to 'collect' them.
>Bone Spikes
A bit of genius, on your part, the bones on the back of the collector can, at a word, turn the corpses into undead, usually zombies, so long as the corpse's heart is penetrated. Otherwise, it can haul many bodies for you, and even use them as ablative armor.
>Bloody Metal
The Collector stinks of rot, blood, and rust, creating a miasma about itself that causes lesser enemies to flee.

That done, you convert the rest into bone archers to catch the runaways.

These minions are kept in the lab for now, ready to be used at any time - the skeletons even fold up into neat piles without losing their spark of unlife.

>What now? What other preparations would you like to make?
>>
>>40058259
and THAT is why it helps to know your monsters.
>search for spells.
>>
>>40058119
We could use quality armoured troops against this, that way any possible survivors spread rumors of men in armor instead of undead legions.

>>
>>40058259
Tell the kobolds to work on making these guys their own wing because you do not want these assholes stinking up the place. . . even if you don't have a nose!

damn, these things could play some serious hell on the battlefield, we need to make more of these when we have time, not to mention having dangerous servants to collect raw materials is always a good idea.
seriously though cadaver collectors be creepy as fuck, just imagine you're on the battlefield, fighting for your life, when suddenly a monster comes out of the enemy ranks towards you, it's spikes are covered with the dead cold bodies of your fellow guard, loved ones and family staring at you blankly, reaking of blood and sickening death. Oh shit, I remember those guys. They are not support, but damn near tanks and great against groups. They move like giant snakes or slime like things. That and they are huge and strong anyway.
>>
>>40058840
Boneyards would be good traps, or guards.

they're almost impossible to tell from a massive pile of bones.

So I was looking through my copy of Open Grave, when I found something.
Bloodrot.

You consider using bones and golems, but an idea springs from that which needs more study, like a glimmering sun in the back of your mind.

>Golem...? research unlocked.

You order the kobolds to create a hangar for the Collectors, directing them with ease as the orcs and Fiona begin to knuckle down and train the kobolds further. Your champion dislikes Fiona a great deal, but that just means they spar well.

Go into the archive and learn more spells.

Might as well explore golems. They'd make a good defense mechanism that blends in well with their surrounds.

and then you make a golem to guard the gates of your fortress a la https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGwbtKVP5QU
>>
>>40059226
Master! Maybe you should scry the town to look for places we servants to attack first?
>>
sooo, i've been doing some research, if we get our hands on a graveyard, (besides the obvious undead we can raise) we can make golems out of gravedirt, as well as ones made out of ombstones.
>>
dammit old man if you're going to nope out at least give us a bit of warning.

old people, what're you gonna do with them? Always falling asleep at random times!

You pour your research into the golem idea.

Death. Bones. The core of life itself.

What if...

What if you made a golem out of souls?

It's possible. It's /entirely/ possible. You'd need to cage the souls, for certain, yes, but... The level of power you'd reach is astronomical. But first, you'd need some steel. And a lot of souls...

Thanks OB! Don't forget to save the thread!

All I can picture now is a giant metal thing in the vague shape of a humanoid, riddled with cracks, blue fire streaming out from them, if looked at, you would swear you can see agonized faces inside the flames.

so, anons, how did I do with my Collector suggestion?

Master! When will next thread be?
>>
>>40059961
Don't screw it up like last time QM, save the thread.
>>
>>40060312
I hate splitting archives, so we're Foolzing it up instead of having like two links in the OP.
>>
>>40060748
No Sup/tg/ then?
>>
>>40060773
Exactly, unless you want to do it.
>>
>>40060796
Done. I haven't saved other QM's threads before. If you don't want to, I'll do it as I can.
