You stayed the night in Sylea's cave with Djanna, finally falling asleep with your head on the edge of the bassinet, a tiny hand wrapped in your hair and the tip of an ear lodged in her mouth. You woke up covered in drool, and not all of it your own for once. Not that you drool in your sleep, but sometimes... shut up! Your stomach growled, waking the child, who in turn started crying and woke Sylea. The calm, composed dragon woman was no less so in the mornings, it seemed, scooping up the child without a word and disappearing from the central cavern with her. You rose and followed, tail swishing quietly behind you, uncomfortable at being left alone around so many pretty things, mingled with the discomfort of essentially being alone in a stranger's sitting room. You descend further, the heat growing again by a few degrees, and follow your adopted aunt into a small cave along with the mewling dragon whelp. Djanna's eyes looked over her mother's shoulder and focused on you. She cooed, smiled, and reached out a chubby hand for you. Your heart melted.

Breakfast consisted of a few long strips of dried meat soaked in hot water to soften it, making both a simple broth and the meat soft enough for small teeth to chew easily. It wasn't quite as filling as usual, but you weren't about to complain at Sylea's hospitality. Well, not with your mouth anyway. Your stomach growled and you tucked your tail against your leg in embarrassment. The older woman patted your head softly. "There will be enough to feed small pups when we get you home... but here. I would not want you to think me an uncaring host." You wave your hands, opening your mouth to object to her assumption, only to find it stuffed with another piece of softened meat. Given the option between choking and chewing, you opt for the one that won't leave you passed out on her larder floor.

=========================================================

"Sorry..." you whisper, looking pointedly at the floor as you walk at her side past the central mining shaft, your fingers twisting in the fur of your stomach. Your tail hangs close between your legs, making it slightly hard to walk. Sylea tuts softly, Djanna struggling to crawl up onto her shoulder from the carrying sling wrapped around her chest.

"You are too mindful of courtesies. Perhaps you thought me offended? Sweet girl, think no more of it." You looked up at her, your ears still flat and your lower lip quivering. You thought she would say more, perhaps explain further, but she did not, simply walking alongside you. She didn't seem angry, but she never did. Did that mean she was happy? Or sad? Or something else? Dragons are weird. Sylea comes up short as soon as the thought crosses your mind, looking back at you with narrowing eyes. Did she... can she read minds!? Your eyes widen and you start to apologize again, beg for mercy, but she reaches out and grabs you around the shoulder, pressing you against the wall of the cavern and pressing herself against you. Djanna wriggles against her chest, her tail slapping against your shoulder as the little dragon begins to whimper.

Since we should probably have a base informational post.

System: This quest will use d100 roll-under degrees of success, with the best of three rolls being used. Crits will take priority, on both ends of the spectrum, with a roll of 1 and 100 on the same call cancelling one another out. For exploration, a d10 will be used, with lower results being more positive, and higher being negative (a one perhaps being a treasure hoard, a ten being something that has a taste for snowbold). For each call, there will be a ten minute voting period, with contentious votes requiring a five-minute FINAL DESTINATION voting period. Write-ins are encouraged with any option, since they will help to season... I mean, flavor... our protagonist.

Djanna whines a bit at the confinement, with Sylea callously clapping a hand over the baby's mouth. You slowly manage to force your heart out of your throat, and you think you realize what spooked her. Above you, below you, you hear a sound like slowly flowing water, and smell the horrid rotten stennch of the steam vents from the caves above, and beyond that even through the stone your sharp ears hear a maddening, burbling whisper. It sounds like... kobold, but also the strange dragon song Sylea sang, and still like other tongues you don't know. What you can pick up in your native tongue doesn't sound like it makes any sense, but there is a menace behind it, and you feel a sense of real fear slide up your spine like a rod of ice. A minute passes... two... the voices slowly grow quieter, moving further away, seemingly into the deep, solid core of the caves, away from the mines and away from the warrens. Sylea lets out a slow breath you didn't realize she'd been holding as she lets go of Djanna's mouth. You feel something wet spatter on your nose, and the coppery stink of blood fills your nostrils. You look up as the older dragon looks down at her hand, blood sliding down her finger from a tiny bite mark. Djanna looks up at her mother, eyes wide, fear evident.

"We go now." Sylea didn't wait for you to respond, grabbing you about the waist and hauling you bodily along the corridors, each stride longer than your largest uncle could manage.

You whimper in Sylea's grip, hanging limp and casting your eyes all about the tunnel as she runs. Here and there, you can hear snatches of the babbling voices. At times they are almost clear, and at others mere hints of a whisper. They should have been moving away, but as you head for the warrens, it's like they're all around you, and then not. "Tide," you think to yourself, the word coming to you as if from far away. "They move like the tide." A snarl from the dragon woman snaps you from your reverie as you feel yourself tossed to the floor of the cave, reflexively tucking into a roll and coming up on your feet in a little hop. Your moment of pride at sticking the landing is interrupted as you turn to Sylea, finding the woman lying face-down on the ground, an arm clutching Djanna protectively. You run to her, your irritation at being tossed replaced with concern and, if you're being honest, fear as you see a mass of black tar burbling up from a hole in the ground around her foot, scales sizzling in the muck. Three spheres, glowing a sickly yellowish red, float around it. She roars in fury, giving her foot a yank away from the hole, but the beast comes with it, a semi-solid mass clinging desperately to her slowly dissolving limb. Down the hall, near the main mine shaft, you hear two heavy, echoing 'plops.'

You're almost hyperventilating. The air stinks and it's hot and Sylea's growling and hissing at the tar, flecks of spittle and sparks flying from her lips as her eyes flash and there's more coming and oh god oh god oh god-

Wait... wait, deep breaths little pup. You inhale and exhale slowly as Sylea tries kicking the muck off with her other foot, barely keeping it from sticking to the other limb. Tongues of flame course across her lips, but she seems to be holding back, clutching Djanna to her chest. Maybe she can't do... whatever she's trying to do with the baby there? You can't get the sling off her, with her gripping Djanna like that, and you don't think she's willing to listen to reason at this point. She's... well, she reminds you of your aunt when she'd yell at your mom sometimes. Not your kobold mom, your old mom. You shake your head hard, trying to center your thoughts, and you look around quickly. There's no stones around here, the thoroughfare kept clean of debris for the carts. You could maybe run and grab a pick or a mattock, but there are more coming this way, so you'd have to get by them.

"Why not just... grab it?" you ask yourself. The dragon lady is dragging herself backward up the walkway, scraping her leg against the ground. The muck flows all around it, as if it were coiling tighter. The cores swirl around, bobbing close to the surface, then falling down below. Well... for lack of a better option...

If you wanna make it so she has full knowledge, that's cool, but maybe at least keep it so that she feels more that there's some sense of detachment? Like, she knows it's "her", but it doesn't feel like she's 100% the same person? If this makes any sense. I probably don't.

For lack of a better idea, you leap to Sylea's foot, the scales flaking off inside the semitransparent black muck. The cores all float to the surface, as if the creature is staring you down. Without a second thought, you plunge a hand into the muck and retrieve two cores in one grab of your oversized paw! Lucky snat- OH GOD THEY BURN! You shake your hand visiously, trying to dislodge them, but divided from the rest of the mass they've begun to exude fresh batches of the pungent black ooze, covering your little hand and matting your fur, small curls of smoke rising as it dissolves. You panic, howling and yipping, as you wheel about and slam your tiny fist into the granite wall. You feel one of the cores pop under your knuckles like a hard-boiled egg, the shell giving way and the network of vessels and god-knows-what inside leaving a nasty oily stain on the wall as the rosey shell tingles to the floor. The other core slips from your hand, the ooze much less sticky now, but the layer left behind on your skin still burns. The other core bobs, a pool of black gathering around it as it starts to quiver, trying to rise. Anger. It tried to hurt you! It tried to hurt Sylea! With a warrior's scream, you plant your feet, bend at the knees, and drive your smouldering fist into the other core before it has a chance to form, popping it effortlessly.

A hiss, and Djanna's cry, brings your attention back to the dragon mother and child. Sylea has managed to dislodge the slime around her leg, the cores you removed having seemed to weaken it, but with her leg in its current state she can't stand.
>>
>>40113488
The two slimes from down the hall had reached you at last, each with two cores, and the monstrous masses were bearing down on the dragon lady. Without thinking, you leapt in front of her, glaring up at the beasts, and snarling with bared fangs. The creatures come up short, just as the one above had, their forms beginning to twitch and shift in an attempt at mimicry.

You are a brave kobold, for a runt. Foolish or no, well, now's not the time to decide that. You back away from the slimes, and they inch closer, trying to mime each of your motions, their proportions dwarfing yours, and fluctuating slowly as they try to hold their form. You lay a hand on Sylea's shoulder, and hear the dragon lady hiss. You look down and see a slight bruise on her shoulder from where she'd fallen. You whine softly in concern, but she shakes her head, opening her mouth to think but thinking better of it. Djanna cowers in her sling, eyes staring straight at the slimes, little shivers running through her tiny orange body. You feel a flash of rage at the monsters for scaring your little cousin, but there will be time for that later. You hear a loud splat, and you snap your gaze back to the slimes. One has moved ahead of the other, and that one has grown to the point wher it touches the ceiling, a column of inky black with the cores swirling slowly at the midpoint. The surface quivers, and with another wet slap, a pseudopod jets out near the top of the column, impacting the ceiling and adhering. From that, another... then another. It starts to resemble a spider's web by the time you manage to have helped drag your auntie against the wall and helped her to her feet, the slimes advancing on you inch by inch the whole while.

You give Sylea an urgent tug of the arm, backing away from the slime creature, and the dragon limps along beside you. Once she's turned away, though, the pursuing slime trembles and lunges toward her. A quick shuffling step and you're between her and it.

Your body once again moves on its own, and you bring your left arm up against the torrent of slime. It grabs ahold of you, and with a strength that a mobile mass of Jell-O had no right to possess, it yanks you back toward it. Sylea shrieks, reaching out to grab you, her fingers just barely sliding through the long fur at the end of your curly tail. You can't help but grin, eyes wide. This... this is good.

You suck in a breath as you're plunged into the mold, your eyes and skin... huh? That's odd, you should be burning all over... but you're not. You feel warm, yes, but not at all uncomfortable. Like you were home, beside the hearth, your head in your mother's lap as she fussed over your hair with a brush, your leg thumping against the floor of its own volition. Are you dying? Again? No, you can see Sylea screaming, struggling to undo the sling holding Djanna to her, the loops and straps eluding her in her haste. You can see the slime web in front of you, blocking the passage. Weird, everything seems bright as day, and moving in slow motion. The cores slowly sink down into your field of vision, a clear menace in the way they swirl and bob in front of you, laughing at their helpless meal.

Heh... 'helpless.'

No, she wasn't using her breath weapon because it'd torch the babby. Also it can't be all that effective against slime monsters that live inside lava pits and geothermal vents.
>>
>>40113863
Pretty sure magical flame doesn't work on the same principal lava does, just as how magical lightening isn't electricity (from what I can gather its literally a bolt of molten plasma)
>>
>>40113844
You strike out, moving unimpeded through the tarry beast, snatching both of the cores in a single, confident motion. Continuing the motion, you shove your hand out through the back of the beast, the form immediately falling away from you and sublimating as the cores begin to release new ichor all their own. It drips from you like water, not searing or burning your hand... although, funny thing, it already seems to be kind of on fire. You might be scared by this, or marvel at the fact it doesn't hurt, or the fact it's kind of golden instead of orange, but now's not the time. You bound down the tunnel to the web, Sylea shrieking at you to come back, to run, but no. No, you can't do that. These things that are trying to hurt your family are still alive.

You crush one of the cores on your bare paw, taking aim with the other.

Burn Ward: A kobold's story.
>>
>>40113893
You whip the core with all the practice of an Olympic pitcher, aiming right for the heart of the web where the other cores orbit slowly. It hits with a loud slap, passing through into the center where it's immediately caught in the orbit of the other two. It didn't even penetrate halfway, even with the burning trail of light that followed it. You scowl, ears flattened back and tail held straight back. That's fine... that's all fine. You've still got this! Who cares if the thing is four times your size and blocking out the entire hallway!? You're big enough! You're bad enough! You're quickly yanked backward and wrapped up in somebody's arms, yipping and howling filling the hallway as cousins and uncles and aunts wielding all manner of improvised weapons flood in, barking and snarling at the mass of black.

It ripples violently in response, as if trying to move, but from the multiple anchor points on the ceiling and walls it seems to have lost all mobility. The surface breaks here and there, splitting and churning as faces - the faces of your kin - rise and fall in the surface of the mass, one after another after another, causing the mass of ichor to tremble. Bits of it begin to snap away from the prime mass, sizzling and evaporating into sulfurous fumes as they do. You struggle to break away from the one holding you. Your enemy! The threat to the warren!

You howl, and the clarity of it hurts your ears. Your kin whine and drop their weapons, holding their ears. The slime beast gives a violent tremor, snaps still, and separates from its anchor points, falling to the ground like a discarded sheet. You wrench yourself from your kin's grasp and charge, weaving and ducking through the legs of your 'rescuers,' reaching your enemy's outer edge. With a mighty leap, you land dead-center in the mass, glare down at the three cores that sit, still as death, in the center, and drive your heel into each one.
>>
>>40114112
When your kin - and Sylea - recover from the shock of the howl, they find you standing in the midst of plumes of the horrid sulfurous leavings of the beast, your tail wagging, your ears perked, and your body wreathed in a halo like the heart of the sun.

Brief pause while I get a drink. Feel free to speculate or talk among yourselves.

Your mother is the first to approach you. None of the others even seem to be able to look at you, with how brightly you glow. You smile up at your mom, beaming with pride. Your tail wags. Her eyelid twitches. Your tail droops and your ears flatten.

====================================

Sylea lies curled up in front of the hearth, gritting her teeth through the pain as Baltas applies a salve and bandages to her leg. Djanna sits on her upper back, gripping her horns and babbling contentedly to herself. You rub your ear, and you swear the right is now an inch longer than the left. The strange glow died out midway back to the warren, and you felt a bit less confident, but no less proud even despite the scolding. Grigor was scarier than papa, and he yelled a lot louder. He probably would have struck you - REALLY struck you - if Sylea hadn't grabbed you out of his hand and snarled at him as she clutched you to her chest. You're becoming very, very familiar with this particular patch of wall. Almost like an old friend. There's a seam in the granite that kind of looks like a baseball if you squint just right!

"We have to move. No time to wait for Eigan, no time, ya?" Baltas mutters to himself as he spit liberally on an amber-colored leaf before crushing it into a sort of paste and rubbing it over Sylea's bandages. She hissed, causing Djanna to coo and bury her cheek in her mother's hair. Your mother said nothing, pacing by the fire as she was, deep into her third stein since everyone had come back to the warrens. You idly looked down, considering the handkerchiefs that were securing your legs to those of the chair.

"There are many-many, ya? Too many. They come up to the mines, and we did not hear. Did not smell. We cannot smell, I think. They smell of flowing stone, not of enemy, not of predators."

"I... but where can we possibly go?" Eyszha whispered, whimpering softly as her tail held close to her own leg. "The city... they do not treat us well, our kind."
>>
>>40114408
"There is work, and safety. What else do we need, ya?" Baltas gently set Sylea's leg down, and the dragon gave it an experimental stretch, wincing.

"Eigan... Eigan will not-"

"Hang Eigan!" Baltas roared, sweeping his arm across the table and knocking it clean of the bowls and bags he'd been working out of. "Too often I hear his name, and of what he like and does not! Does he speak for us all!? Would he have us stay and die, you think? Care you nothing for your little ones!?"

Your mother's eyes flashed, and she snarled, bearing fangs. Baltas rose from the table, responding in kind with his own deeper growl. Both of their tails stood bolt-straight away from them. Djanna whimpered and curled deeper into her mother's hair. Sylea roared, causing all three of you to yelp in pain, hands going to your ears as the dragon's roar rang in the underground. "I will not lie here and hear you squabble like this! Damn it, are you both pups!?" They looked down at the dragon woman, Baltas's tail falling first. Eyszha looked as though she wanted to press the attack, but settled for shaking her head and refilling her stein.

"Momma! Momma! What are the 'Old places?' Is it something new? I mean, of course it's old, but is it older than the city?" You bound to her side, tail wagging and wide eyes looking up at her. She inhales to answer, snaps her mouth shut, and grabs hold of your other ear! Ow! What did you do!?

"I told you, Eys. 'Short of burying her up to the neck...'" Sylea scoops Djanna off her back with her tail, the infant squealing with delight and clapping her scaley hands together as the older woman settles her before her. Sylea smiles at her brood, blowing a soft curl of smoke around her.

"Bah, the old places are foolishness, child, ya? Long time, some kobolds think we live in woods and made nicey-nice with animals. Keeping humans out, ya? Bah! Candle stories." He spits into the hearth, the globule sizzling on the flat stones. Your mother moves to return you to your seat, sees the shredded mess you made clawing the handkerchiefs off, and throws up her hands with a curse. "Agh! I wish your father would let me pray so I could curse the gods for giving me such a wild hare of a pup!"

Sylea chuckles good-naturedly, poking softly at Djanna's tummy. The baby's tail curls around her finger. "Oooh, strong! Just like her father." She rolls over to sit up, still favoring her foot. "City or forest, it makes no difference. Your kin should leave these mines. MUST leave the mines."

"Wha? Leave? Travel? But... but I'm still little! I mean, I'm not 'little' little. I'm not little as Djanna, but still! I mean, I can kinda fight too, but you said big! And for you to think something's big, it's got to be... well... BIIIIIG big!" Sylea looks up at you, one brow cocked, as if she's trying to decide whether or not to take offense to that before she settles for simply shaking her head, Djanna batting at the strands of hair that hang loose above her. You babble on for a few moments more before your mom gives you a sharp cuff to the shoulder and a light growl, and you fall silent.

"Child, you will not travel with me just yet. Not far, anyway. If these mines are to become a hive for monsters, it is dangerous for everyone, and we will have to leave for everyone's safety. Already, your warren-mates watch the entrances morning, mid, and night, ready for attack. The mines are silent, no ore coming from within the ground. Even if you manage to stay in your warrens and keep the beasts to the lower levels, surely you understand that you won't be able to live here?" You tilt your head in confusions, and Sylea sighs. It's not like you don't get it. No ore means no trade, no trade means no food, but surely there are other ways to get food? You don't have to trade. Something in the back of your mind tells you otherwise, that living isolated in a land like this is difficult at the best of times, and all but impossible in the worst. If the forest were smaller, sparser, and perhaps the land were not so... vividly populated... you may not even be able to live apart from civilization at all. Your mother idly strokes your hair, breaking you out of your reverie. She gives a worried whimper, and you blink up at her in confusion.

"We still have to make you stronger, but for that, I must return to my home below." Baltas barks a laugh at her, and she turns her gaze to him.

Your ears flick in curiosity, moving to kneel on the rug beside your dragon aunt. She smiles and offers you Djanna, who jerks back in surprise at suddenly seeing you before she curls in her mother's hands, turning her face away with a wide-eyed grin. You smile back, tail swishing as you take the child and hah hah, yes, Djanna, I missed you too, but the fur is kind of attached to my neck, yes. You whine just a bit as the dragon child climbs you like a tree, trying to perch atop your head with fistfulls of your ears and roar her claim to Mt. Bold.

"What did you mean about making me stronger?" you ask as Baltas rises to leave. Your mother follows him to the door, and you hear him mutter an apology to her before he steps out into the warrens. Sylea watches her child manhandle you, weaving atop your head with her legs on either side of your neck now.

"Not all treasures are gold and silver, pup. There are old secrets long lost to thought, but that still... hmm, I sound like the old hound... books, child, and scrolls. The way you hold yourself... I don't know where you learned it, but it reminded me of scrolls I recovered during my travels. They show a method of fighting that used to be wide-spread in the desert kingdoms of the south, where it was too hot to use armor and metal too scarce for weapons. I think with your power and grace, you might make a better use of them than I would."

You blink in confusion, whining a bit at having to admit this. Somewhere deep inside you, you feel ashamed to say it. "I can't read, though..." Sylea chuckles and you huff, puffing out your cheeks and trying for all the world to look intimidating. Djanna pokes a cheek, causing you to blow a raspberry, and Sylea falls back nearly dying of laughter. Once she settles down, she explains that the scrolls aren't the kind you read, but that they have pictures that show you how to stand and how to move. She studied them a little during her travels - enough that she can at least show you how to read them. "As for growing stronger, I think you know already, hmm?" She reaches out, gripping your bicep between two fingers and giving it a firm squeeze. You yelp at the sharp pain, but hey, they do feel like they're a little denser, not quite the flabby, smooth baby-muscle you'd had for the first week of your life. It's a subtle change, but a clear one, and Sylea's encouragement makes you blush with pride. Your mother shakes her head, cleaning up the mess Baltas made of the medicine bowls. Baltas!

"Momma!" you turn quickly, dislodging the dragonling from her new perch on your shoulder. Sylea snaps upright with the reflexive speed of a mother, but you guide the child into your lap, cushioning her fall with your tail. Djanna seizes, eyes wide, at being all but enveloped in downy white, like this is officially the best day of her young life. "Can I go with uncle Bal-"
>>
>>40115549

Later that night, you lie in bed sniffling. No supper, no good-night nuzzle, no nothing, and you're practically game-bound under your blankets! This SUCKS! Sylea snoozes nearby, arms and tail wrapped around a similarly snoozing Djanna. Your brother is absent, staying with Grigor and learning "a man's work." Somehow, that phrase doesn't sit well with you, but your mother wouldn't hear another word about it.

All images on moe get purged. Which is a problem if the QM ever has to post text in an image.
Also moe and the others only go back so many years. Since they entered into use they've lost a couple years worth of archives.

They don't though. The data they inherited from the foolz archives has some images stripped though which is presumably what you're thinking of, creating a gap in the timeline.

Either way, all quests starting newly would do best to link to the moe archives since their images will be safe from purging.

It's also worth noting that the suptg guy is apparently planning to purge suptg of quests.

Huh, the ropes against your arms feel a little loose... and they're connected around your wrists here, and this knot... you can reach it if you stretch out a finger, then your claw. Just... just need to pick at it a bit and-

With a quick tug, the rope slides loose, your arms free from their confines. You quickly undo the rest of the knots, freeing yourself from the basket and rising to your feet with a stretch, stepping out of your basket and stretching a leg behind you till it shivers. You shake yourself loose, hair fluffing up around your ears, but you fall stock-still as Djanna hiccups in her sleep, blinking suddenly awake and looking up at you. She smiles and yawns softly, nuzzling into her mother's arms but still looking at you, as if waiting for something. You can't help but grin as you move to the carpet, settling down beside the child and just watching Djanna watch you. It reminds you, in a way, of when Sylea stared you down the first time you met. Is it a dominance thing, you wonder? A power struggle? You just keep your gaze on Djanna's, smiling with the tip of your curled tail wagging back and forth slowly. Eventually, the child turns away with a bashful giggle, hiding her face in her mother's hair. You flop down next to her, not disturbing the larger dragon. Djanna peeks out at you from beneath a raven lock, and you gently blow a puff of air into her face, making her cackle in delight. You give a soft yip and nuzzle against her, sidling under Sylea's upper arm and resting your head against her chest as Djanna reaches out for your hair. You wince a bit, tensing up in expectation of the tug, only to feel a small hand pat you between the ears.

"Puh..."

You blink, tail swatting Sylea's legs aggressively, rousing the dragon woman with a snort of "Huhwha?"

"Puh... up! Pup! Pupupupupup!"

That's all for tonight's thread, folks! I'll be around for a bit longer to answer questions if need be!

Then, say, fully an adult at five years and then practically ageless beyond? Compared to Nadia reaching adulthood a year or so. Would different momsters age at different rates? Have different max ages?
>>
>>40116541
I have no preference on the matter, bits and pieces seems to be more common as a preference though

I think they are referring to the canon established for kobold quest based on previous threads, which isnt particularly detailed in the first place. which is fine thread three still leaves a lot of worldbuilding room
>>
>>40116541
Most of us were fine with having flashes and bits of minor knowledge. It appeared to be one guy bitching about not knowing everything.

I like flashes because it keeps our kobold innocent instead of being an adult masquerading as a child.

I think it was sort of like last night with one guy bitching "Okay now end it we have to sleep!" When it was just him beating his chest.
>>
>>40116592
generally adulthoods have occured at roughly the same age, though a few year gap should be fine, age rates and max ages being different is likely fairly concrete, much like real life species. you should probably keep the evolutions=longer life mechanic.
>>
>>40116541
You already ran 2 threads with us only having limited memory of our previous life.

>>40116592
>Would different momsters age at different rates? Have different max ages?
I would think Dragons would. Like Elves they can generally live for hundreds of years in most settings so they would age slower.

The faster evolving mosnters in most Re:monster quests or the manga might only live 20 years in their base form.
>>
>>40116623
Yeah, this is the impression I got as well.
>>
>>40116592
Speaking of dragons. Are sylea and djanna fully draconic or are they Dragon ladies? Your description makes me think the latter. Just checking.
>>
I kind of want our protagonist to end up like Senator Armstrong.
>>
>>40116592
That sounds fine to me.

People can bitch about dragons aging too fast all they want, but monsters grow up fast in this setting and it'd be weird to spend the entire quest hanging around a toddler. I'm sure some (many) people would say it's fine because cute, but I don't think it's what you were really going for.
>>
I'll give growth rates some more thought on the drive and rough out some notes for the story going forward. Memoru retrieval will remain randomized, limited to flashes of insight or saying/thinking odd shit like the baseball metaphors earlier.

Meanwhile, in the depths of the mines, Baltas walks across the magma whistling a tune as the protective charms he'd woven about his feet struggle to keep his bulk aloft. Ahead of him, from the muck, a growling serpentine head bobs to the surface, elongated snout and all four coal-black eyes glaring at him. It opens its mouth to take a bite, sure of an easy morsel, when Baltas just slaps it on the nose bare-handed. The beast recoils and the old Kobold shouts at it. "Back to your ash hole, walking handbag! Shit damn, do not bother me!"

The beast, perplexed and its feelings a bit hurt, obliges.
