Ask Languid Anything: ask.fm/HellbornQM

You’ve been able to do weird things all your life, but only in the past year have you started to understand why. Your name is Sierra Beckhoff, and you are a hellborn – part mortal, part demon. Ever since you ran into a family of demon hunters, a lot of weird (but cool) stuff has gone down. You’ve battled rogue generals, joined the a baron’s conclave of demonic advisors, and dueled landmasters. You maybe even met a real live dragon – though you’re not a hundred percent on that one. But perhaps most surprisingly, you successfully graduated high school.

Before you can pile in a car and ride into the sunset on your pan-America roadtrip, though, you’ve got a couple loose ends to tie up. Ushologuissa, a Stygian countess (and Grand Wyrmwrither), has nabbed a foreign hell VIP dude from your fief, with the aid of Hassatur the fish king. Or something like that, anyway.

Except while you’re pretty sure you know where the kidnapped dignitary is being held, your amazing breakout plans have been complicated by the untimely appearance of Sattler, a bigoted demon hunter, who has roped you into assisting her with killing everything in the building. You have your super hot demon boyfriend and your hell cleric pal on the case of saving your demon VIP, but for the sake of your adoptive family (and you especially) you need to keep Sattler from finding out you’re a demon, even as you battle by her side.

--

You guessed something like this would happen, but it still surprises you how quickly things went awry. Things move sluggishly in your mind, but not because you’re too slow, but because you’re so fast. You note the important facts.
>>
>>40116518

Sattler has just burst from her human disguise into her fully metallic, glyph-covered self, four arms and everything. She’s going for her machetes.

There is a guy in the middle of pulling the gun out of his pants.

And there’s a demon in human form flying at you, glamor flickering away to reveal something grotesque, a form difficult to understand up close and on such short notice. (Toad: 24 HP)

You stifle the impulse to rip into the leaping demon with your claws. Sattler’s watching, she expects fire. Fire. Lots of fire.

You don’t think. You go all flame on with the dude. (-5 PP: 34/41)

The demon sails through the blast, only lightly singed by heat that should have boiled the flesh off his bones. (Toad: 23 HP)

Fire’s not so hot against an Infernus mix. You didn’t think this through.

Then next thing you know, you have a hundred pounds of putrid demon frog bowling you over and grinding you into the pavement, and you barely manage to force Toad’s huge wide mouth full of rows and rows of jagged teeth from gnawing off your face. (+3 Stress: 54)

Though you’re no pushover, you’ve also already been pushed over. He’s got weight and leverage, and in broad daylight, there’s nothing you can do to change that, without giving up who you are, or blowing up the city block.

You panic, and Toad rages again at your face, a pain blinding you as your blood-inscription shoulder grinds over the pavement. (+2 Stress: 56)

You seize onto the first thing that pops into your mind. “Sakheritahn!” you shout, wrenching a hand against Toad’s throat, focusing your will through the inscriptions in your shoulder and into the rough flesh beneath your fingers.

The demon seizes up, skin splitting around his neck, and blood gushing out from beneath your hands.

You take advantage of his momentary distraction to shove him off of you. He rolls aside, clutching at his throat, blood spilling freely from his mouth and eyes. (Toad: 13 HP +Severe bleeding)
>>
>>40116558

You can feel his pain, sharp and full. That’s what happens to people that mess with you. (-6 Stress: 50)

You roll to your feet just in time to see the gunman on the steps finally get his gun free and aim it at you. And then a machete whips into his chest, punching him backward against the wall.

Sattler sweeps the other two guys on the steps with automatic gunfire. One forgets the whole thing and takes off at a dead sprint, running right down the road. Sattler smirks, looks over toward the runner, and lets out a shrill whistle. The glyphs on her forearms blaze brightly, surging with power, and the fleeing man explodes, like he’d been carrying an armed frag grenade. The mangled body hits the ground like a sack of potatoes.

Sattler stands over you, a steely expression affixed on her segmented, mechanical face. “What the fuck? You figured you’d impress a fucking demonbane by pumping up with some black fucking demon blood magic?” she asks, her eyes and body-glyphs blazing with raging power, her gaze falling on your bandaged shoulder. (Satt: 24 HP; 59 PP) “How’d you even fucking learn Zeshic School shit?”

Meanwhile, Toad struggles in vain to not bleed to death, coughing and spluittering not a few feet away. Sattler doesn’t spare him a glance, but does spares him a couple rounds to the head to shut him up. The demon suddenly ceases his struggles and goes still.

What the hell did we even use on Toad? I don't think any of our blood spells are capable of cranking out 10 damage without RR or supercharge, and that was on a critfail too.
>>
You adjust the strap on your MP5 – maybe you should have stuck to shooting things, this once. But whatever. You just have to do damage control.

“Well, it worked a whole lot fucking better than fire did,” you say, getting indignant. “I mean, it’s not like blowing somebody up by giving them the evil eye is any better.”

“The how matters,” says Sattler, sternly. “Blood magic does things to people. How the hell do I know it hasn’t done things to you, already?”

“Well, how do I know you blowing people up by whistling hasn’t done things to you?” you reply, mockingly. You think your best bet is to make it not a big deal. “I thought the important thing was killing demons. We nuked the Japanese, why can’t I blood magic demons to death?”

“Don’t treat me like some damn communist coming after your second amendment rights,” she says, but she lets the point slide, acknowledging the wisdom of your position. “Nobody knows Zeshic School outside the furnace,” she says, changing her angle. “It’s not common knowledge.”

You scoff. “Hello? Landmaster, master of earth, wind, and fire and crap, right here,” you say, jerking a thumb toward yourself. “I know a goblin merchant guy, sold me some scrolls or whatever when I was tripping planes a couple months ago on the hunt for a landwell.”
>>
>>40117358
Pretty sure it was Blood Curse. He was hemorrhaging, and the first half of out shout contained the Heltic word for blood.
>>
>>40117409

That gives Sattler pause, and you feel a momentary conflict of feeling within her. “Fuck. You know, I keep forgetting the landmaster thing,” she says, wagging a finger at you. She goes a couples steps up to yank her machete out of the guy that tried to shoot you, and wipes off both sides on his shoulder.

“Whatever. Just don’t tell Isaac, I don’t need him thinking I’m some Satan worshipping spawn of Satan,” you say.

Sattler laughs unkindly. “Yeah, well I’ll think about it,” she says, shaking her head and scowling. “Blood magic’s no joke, and I’m just going to up and say I’m pretty sure you can’t handle it.”

Wow. Now that’s a vote of nonconfidence. (+4 Stress: 54)

If you want to get out of this without Sattler breathing down your neck after this, you probably need to prove to her how hardcore and competent you really are.

>Enough yapping, let’s get in there already before Axos takes his horns and bugs out.

Enough to know that we sure as hell weren't quiet, and that they're going to know we're coming. So, let's see what fire DOES work for and activate plan B.

Do you think I could set the whole building on fire?

Shadowrun trap solving!

Okay, that wasn't serious. Pop Monster out and tell her we're going to get it to scout so that we can see if anyone is trying to get away (high value targets) and then we can use him to scout for our Dip-bro-mat.

Other than that, see if she has any abilities that can let us know what we're going into so we don't get a face full of shotgun when we go in the door.
>>
So aside from fire stuff, is there anything we can use without blowing our cover?

Like can we stain of sin our bullets without being noticed?

>>
>>40117552
We brought grenades, yes? Can we get the shadows to whisper to us so we can blow up ambushes without Sattler knowing? Say it's some sort of Landmaster life-sensing skill if she asks?

“Just shut up already, Axos probably already bugged out of here with all his horns because you wanted to lecture me,” you say.

“I’m voicing legitimate fucking concerns here,” Sattler growls. “If I’m going to have you on my back, I’m trusting you with my god damn life, you understand that?”

“Just let me do what I came here to do, “ you reply, angrily. “What’s your idea for when we go in there? You have a plan, right?”

“Fuck yes,” says Sattler. “If it has horns, kill it. If it has a gun, kill it. If it tries to kill you-“

“Kill it,” you say. “Got that.”

She nods. “You’re not completely stupid,” she says. “They’re Stygians, so don’t trust what you see. Most deceit demons are total shit with illusions, they only cover sight – if it doesn’t make sound or you can’t feel it, it’s not there. You’ll probably feel which ones are real since you’re a landmaster, so use that. We go in hard and fast – I got a guy watching the back, they’re not scrambling out that way.”

Uh oh. He might have spotted Wolf or Ulam. That would be bad. But it’s also something you can’t help right now. You feel the weight of your blood tracker in the pocket of your jeans – you’ve got a surefire way to find Lucifer, but you might risk leading Sattler closer to the VIP. This is going to get hard.

Sattler waves you up to the main doors, and you join her on the frame, SMG at the ready, sword loose in its sheath, good to go for instant stabbing.

“On three,” says Sattler, gripping her machetes and gun tightly in her iron grip. “Three!”

You barge into an empty lobby, populated by dingy chairs, an empty office desk place, and a big hallway leading further into the building. There’s an elevator to your right, as well as a stairwell.

Everything in sight flickers unsteadily, as if unconvinced of its own reality.

Shadow Self (the tentacles)/VoOTT/the generic shadow manipulation are 3 completely different powers.
>>
There’s too much going on for you to sort out all in one go. You flatten yourself to the wall of the entry corridor and fire blinding ahead of yourself, hoping to suppress anyone that’s got a clear line of fire on you. Your weapon kicks against your shoulder, and pieces of drywall, chips of wood, and dust explode into the air as you rake a line of bullets blindly across the room.

Sattler, meanwhile, leaps forward, machetes swinging, glyphs burning.

Screams and shrieks fill the space, and illusions fade and flicker away like paper over a flame. Blood and pain surround you.

About ten seconds later, your heart hammers in your head, pulsing like a big drum. Everything is dead before you. Like, everything. There are convulsing demons dead or dying all over the place, and the room is absolutely torn to shreds.

You feel out of breath, like somebody punched you in the gut. It’s not too bad, considering Ranthix has punched you worse in the gut, and you walked it off. Seems like you took a bullet to vest.

Sattler wipes her machetes on the couch as she simultaneously reloads her gun. She glances backwards, the light gleaming off the angled ridge of her skull. “You got shot,” she says, casually.

“Didn’t break the vest,” you say, sucking in more air so you can breathe better.

“Look again,” says Sattler.
>>
>>40118445

You look down, and realize that there’s a dark stain spreading on the left leg of your jeans. Experimentally, you wiggle your foot around, and feel a kind of numb buzzing sensation, which is beginning to grow sharper and more painful the more you think about it. You decide to stop thinking about it. (HP: 30/34)

“You going to die?” she asks, unenthusiastically.

You go ahead and reload while you think of how to answer. You don’t think you’ve ever actually been legitimately shot before. Like, people have shot at you, but they missed. And that one time you got grazed doesn’t count.

>You have any gauze on you? Don’t want to be leaving my blood everywhere.

“It’s whatever,” you say, stepping over to her. You’ve done more with greater injuries – this doesn’t even compare with walking with a compound fracture. “Natural landmaster toughness immortality stuff, remember?”

“Sure thing,” says Sattler, watching the whole room with a suspicious eye. She’s not leaving anything to chance.

“You have gauze on you?” you ask. “Don’t want to be leaving my blood everywhere.”

Silently, Sattler pulls a small white roll out of her pack and tosses it to you. With mediocre skill, you pull up the leg of your pants, and roll up the wound in white. The bullet went clean through, so it’s not a problem, and you’re good to go. “Let’s keep going,” you say.

As you proceed forward, you get out your blood tracker, and use it to get a good idea of where Lucifer is. Looks like he’s upwards and forwards.

“What’s that thing?” asks Sattler, noticing your gadget.

Description of the vial.
>A couple minutes later, you head out the front door of the building into the sunlight, and pull out the small glass vial from your inside jacket pocket. The glasswork is exceedingly fine, with intricate designs laced over the exterior, inlaid with magic to keep the content fresh. The blood within glints strangely silvery under light of day.

It's my good luck totem. Got it from a goblin.

Let's think about this. Even if we do sell this well, she'll either want us to hook her up with one or it'll raise her suspicions of us. If it goes badly, hooo boy. I don't want to know what kind of spellcraft checks someone with 70+ PP can pass.
>>
>>40118913
That's why we angle it as something we tried to make on a whim, but doesn't work yet.

>>40118913
We COULD hook her up with one that's just flawed enough to not pick up on Hellborn. Like us.

Something about goblins or blood magic might be good, but you’re not sure you want to incriminate yourself one way or the other. “It’s supposed to point to the nearest demon,” you say, jiggling the compass as if it’s stuck.

“And sometimes it just points north?” Sattler says, unamused. “Eyes up, quit screwing around.”

Sattler leads you mostly in the direction you want to go, except she avoids a staircase or two that would take you higher up to where you need to be.

On either side of the hallway, there are doors to apartments. Lots of doors. Lots of apartments. They’re probably just single room things, but there’s no telling what’s inside. Well, not no telling, exactly, because you can feel life shuffling around, vaguely.

“We clear each one in turn,” says Sattler, hunching over her SMG and holding her blades low.

Your danger ring starts buzzing uncomfortably against your finger. You wonder if it’s actually doing its job, or if it’s just like one of those mood rings you used to wear all the time.

>Warn Sattler of possible danger.
>Kick in some doors with extreme prejudice.
>Use life science skills to pinpoints which rooms actually have occupants.
>Move ahead to the next cross section, and make sure nothing’s coming at you.

You hold back at the start of the hall. “Hold up a sec. My spider sense is tingling,” you say.

Sattler stops. “Your what?”

“Don’t kick in any doors just yet,” you say. You adjust your grip on your SMG and close your eyes. “Let me feel them out.”

You can feel Sattler’s impatience, but you feel this is better than kicking in every door. You let yourself soak in the life around you, and specifically, the foreign-feeling life in rooms 113, 115, and 119. You tell Sattler what you felt. “They’re not from this plane,” you tell her. “I’ll watch your back.”

She nods, more serious now than frustrated with you. “Reasonable suspicion,” says Sattler, proceeding to the first room and kicking the door. It busts inward, almost cracked in half. She lunges inside, and after a round of muffled banging, emerges with her machetes stained with black ichor. She scrapes them off on the door frame and moves on, this time pressing her ear to the next apartment door. She steps back, raises her SMG, and pumps a steady stream of lead through the door for a good second, then kicks inside to check her handiwork.

“Not bad,” says Satt, nodding at whatever carnage lies within. “Two out of three. And the third?”

She crosses the hallway, and opens the last door. The angel turns smoothly out of the way as a hail of bullets and belching flame spit out from within, lighting the carpet on fire.

Without much care, Sattler grabs one of the putty bricks out of her bag and tosses it inside, then keys a little remote. The ground rocks out from beneath you, and a blast of sonorous air and sound crash by.

Smoke and dust gush out from the broken door frame, and she rushes inside, giving rise to another explosion of bangs, gunfire, shouting, and screams.

A sound creeps into your awareness, much quieter than the battle. It sounds like somebody trying to shuffle a loaded refrigerator down the hall by shimmying it from one edge to the other. The sneaky sound comes from the end of the hall, and seems to be coming in your direction.

If they think they’re invisible, chances are that they won’t expect you to run up to them and hit them with Zelathis the lightning sword. And while you might be able to drop them with the SMG, you know bullets can go through a lot of walls, and you kind of do remember that there’s probably regular people scattered around this place.

You sling over your gun, draw your sword, and hurry forward, as if hoping to get a peek around the corner or something. You pass by Sattler’s door, briefly glimpsing a bloody battle involving the angel and a harry demon with squat, ugly features, and leathery plates similar to Ranthix’s. Guy’s not going down any time soon, despite the many mortal wounds the angel’s inflicting.

You reach the end of the hall, finding the footsteps now quiet, just a couple yards off. Are they waiting for the opportune moment to ambush you? Or maybe it’s Wolfgang and Ulam, trying to be all stealthy? You dismiss the idea out of hand – you’d smell Wolfgang, at least.

The silent empty spot is suddenly not so silent or empty. “RAAGHH!” roars the demon, striking out of its hiding spot into a tall, wiry creature with spines jutting out of every limb, crooked horns, and no shortage of bladed appendages or mandibles. (Bubba: 28 HP)
>>
>>40120462
Except you were expecting something like this. You turn Zelathis around to parry the oncoming attack, cueing the blade’s power as it strikes the thing’s claws. The rapier bounces back against your arm, erupting with a surging thunderclap. (Zelathis: 8/10 charges)

The concussive blast catches the demon full on, picking it up off the ground and hurling it back against the wall, propelling it through the flimsy wall in a jangle of limps. (Bubba: 21 HP) Hacking and coughing, the mantis-like demon hurls itself upright and starts pouring back through the breach toward you, emerging again and again as exact copies, shrieking and surrounding you.

You stop yourself from retreating immediately. They’re not real. At least you hope they’re not.

One thing you know about illusions though, they don’t stand up to a thousand degrees Fahrenheit so well. You shake out your fire whip, and spin it overhead, lashing out at the crowding images of Stygians surrounding you. (-2 PP: 25)

The heat of the fiery line cuts a swath through the fakery, at least until it catches a solid figure at your side on the shoulder, exploding with an angry snap, blowing chunks of meat off of your insectoid opponent and momentarily staggering him. (Bubba: 14 HP) The smell of burnt blood floods your nostrils, reigniting your thirst for fresh blood. (-4 Stress: 50)

“Burn and die!” you laugh, bringing up your other hand and squeezing the trigger back as far as it’ll go.

The Stygian shrieks as bullets riddle his body. “AAAAGHH!” he cries, going down in a cloud of misted blood.

You inhale deeply, your hands beginning to shake with excitement and something else, something incredibly fucking awesome. (-3 Stress: 47) (+1 HP: 31) (+2 PP: 27)

You’re good to go find another mantis guy and blow him up too. Your danger ring is still buzzing, but you’re unsure if its for something new, or if it was always buzzing for the thing you’ve yet to encounter.

Sattler jogs up behind you, checking both ways before checking out the fried, perforated corpse before you. “Well done,” she says, jabbing you with a kind of friendly, kind of unfriendly elbow. I'm just worried that if she thinks there's a Verwelken that she'll just decide to bring the whole building down to kill it.
>>

>>
>>40121502

>>
Well done. Like, as in, you cooked mantis man’s goose. Like. Because of the fire. You snort, and rapidly formulate a reply pun. “Shame, though, cause he got full on lead before we got to the main course,” you say. So bad.

Sattler chuckles at your rejoinder, and forges forward. You follow. Except, you can’t really follow Sattler forever, because you’re not here to kill demons, you’re here to save a demon. After another hallway’s worth of carnage, and after you bust out onto the second floor and get ready to clear it out likewise, you get a perhaps bad idea.

What’s the one thing a demon hunter never usually gets to hunt? Probably something rare, something exceedingly dangerous. Something like a Verwelken. If Sattler thought a Verwelken was mucking about, she’d forget all about you on the chase.

Sattler lops off the head of an unfortunate Stygian, causing him to drop the blocks of cocaine he’d been trying to run out of the building, and you gun down a dude with a shotgun before he can fill your face full of buckshot. Except he wasn’t a demon, but it doesn’t matter, because you don’t have to be a demon to get killed.

The smoke alarms finally manage to go off, and water sprays down on everything from above, making it annoying to keep your fire whip deployed. (-2 PP: 25)

Sattler squats down by the severed head of the Stygian. “Where’s Axos?” she asks.

“He is long gone,” says the demon’s head, scowling.

“You lie,” says Sattler.
>>
>>40121523

“Death awaits. You have no power over me now, wingtreader,” the demon replies.

Sattler growls, stands up, and gives the head a swift kick, sending it down the hall. “Fucking horns,” she shouts.

You figure now’s a good time, what with all the water and motion everywhere to keep Sattler on her toes. You concentrate on the hallway up ahead, and begin rustling the shadows into subtle vibrations. (-2 PP: 23) “Uh. Satt, do shadows usually do stuff like that?” you ask, pointing to the hall in question.

Sattler turns instantly, her face a mask as she sees the unnaturally moving darkness. “Not so long as I’m around they don’t,” she says, spinning around her machetes and sprinting ahead at speed. She careens aroudn the corner and disappears, more gunshots and explosions calling out her position at regular intervals.

Huh. Not bad. You think.

Sattler can really move, and if you want to stay far enough ahead of her that she doesn’t spot you, you have to really move twice as much. You double back toward the stair, finally free of the burden of being seen by the eyes of this world, moving with liquid speed. You get your blood tracker out, and follow its guiding arm up and up until you get to the right floor.

You slide through the barricaded doorway, through the frame, dodge behind the backs of a couple demons working furiously on burning a bunch of papers and books, and catapult yourself through a corner into a portion of the building that looks like it’s undergoing renovations, with tarp covered walls and torn up flooring, darkened in every corner.

Until it’s not dark, but blinding light. Light everywhere. You can’t see, and wind up running face first into something unyielding. Stars explode before your eyes, and you go down. (-1 HP: 30)

You come to a moment later, a vague bulbous figure towering over you. Your eyes are having trouble adjusting to the brilliant light filling the room. “Hi there,” says a light, mellow voice. You roll aside, a sledgehammer punching through the floorboards just behind you. You shove yourself to your feet, but get a kick to the back that sends you into a pile of cardboard boxes. Some of them crumple under your weight, some of them are full of what feels like bricks. (-1 HP: 29)

“I was actually more worried about you than the hunters, if you can believe it,” says whoever or whatever is behind you. You are in trouble.

Whoever this is, they surrounded themselves with as many floodlights as they could cram into one room specifically because of you. If there was ever a time you needed to get a hold of the situation, it’s now.

You tear off a smoke grenade and a flash bang from your tactical vest, toss them into the room, and roll back underneath the corner of the room, into the adjacent hallway. (-1 PP: 19) This guy knows who you are, and he might let Sattler know, which is not something you can let happen. He has to die. You get up, run a ways, and wait for a muffled bang before you throw yourself back down on the ground and roll back into the room.

This time, you’re ready for the light, and you can actually see stuff through the smoke rapidly filling the air.

You’re in a big room, with the walls all knocked out. There’s a few pieces of furniture, but mostly you notice the huge blocks of cash laid out on the table. Like. Multiple feet high piles of cash, as in, thousands and thousands of dollars, maybe hundreds of thousands.

And there’s a cage – something built for a dog, but something that contains an unconcious person – located right by the money table.

Except between you and all that, there’s your sledgehammer wielding friend. He’s covered in broad chitin plates, kind of like a roly poly – except his plates have a rocky metallic sheen to them, kind of like how your Shalbaan has. He’s got thick, trunk-like legs and feet, and gnarled, craggy hands, one with three thick fingers, the other with seven delicate claws. The bulkier arm with fewer fingers holds the sledge hammer like it was a regularly sized hammer, while the other holds a sawed off shotgun. A pair of curved horns swoop down on either side of his head. (Roly: 37 HP; 19 PP)

He’s a little staggered from the flash bang when you come in, and the delay gives you enough time to release the hounds before he can get a shot off.
>>
>>40122647

The three hellhounds charge forward, one leaping up only to get its head blown off by the sawed off, while the other two leap up and latch onto the demon’s arms, impeding his movement and ability to kill you.

“I don’t like this,” says the demon, grabbing another of your hounds by the head and tossing it off.

But while he’s busy with the boys, you channel a narrow corridor of searing agony toward the demon. (-7 PP: 12; +7 Stress: 56)

The Stygian cringes against the overwhelming pain flooding his senses, barely able to punch off the last hound. The blow stuns the summon and lays it out on the ground, though without doing any real damage.

The demon bows under the weight of the pain before getting its feet under it, which is okay, because it gives you plenty of time to take aim with your SMG and start shooting.

Bullets wrack the body of the demon, snapping straight through the creature’s armor plating and tearing up the wall beyond, splattering it with visceral chunks and blood caught by the piercing shots. The demon moans and goes down, very dead. (Roly: 0 HP)

The scent of his blood hits you a moment later, but there’s something weird about it. The smell is strangely bland, to the degree it’s almost revolting. It’s like it’s almost something good, but it lacks sustenance.

Your danger ring is still buzzing. You only have couple minutes before Sattler busts in here.

That motherfucker isn't dead. Be extremely cautious of a surprise attack. He had 37 HP, and we only used a SMG, even with SoS I think he could take it, and the weird blood smell is setting off my paranoia something fierce.

Use our senses like our Blood Reading and Landmaster sense, find the real body, or confirm that it is actually his body. If that isn't enough to find anything use Corrupting Hex on the "corpse" to check.

If we find anything go through another magazine giving him a SoS hot lead injection, if that isn't enough we can pull out the lightning sword, fire whip, or go full rip and tear. Be extremely cautious of a surprise attack.

After that confirm that it is Lucy in the cage, bust him out, if we can sense Wolfy at all nearby have him take care of extraction, otherwise find a good egress, call our backup team to pick him up, and get back to Sattler.

I tried my goddamn best.
>>
Can we send the hounds for the lights while we fight this guy?
>>
>>40122890

Sure. They're unlikely to do anything more than slow him down, his armor's too thick.
>>
>>40122839
>>40122869
...Drunk Languid?

>>40122843
This. We're down to ~1/3 of our PP and no recharge in sight.
>>
Remember what Sattler said when we killed Snake-bitch: always take the head off, just to be sure they're dead.
>>
>>40122902

Usually in fights, you're drinking blood and getting a lot of claw contact to recharge your power. Sattler's been keeping you from doing your power vamp thing.
>>
>>40122928
We'll be sure to take a quick bite of this guys corpse when we're done

We're really making up for last session!
Woohoo!

Well, Roly might not be dead yet, but he's certainly not going to enjoy the next minute of his life.

Maybe he'll only mostly die from this so we can Soul Drinker him to replenish more before finishing him off.

Also, after we finish murderizing Roly and having a quick snack on him, we should grab a couple stacks of cash money and fill our pockets/pouches/bags with it.
>>
>>40122943
Assuming Satt isn't in the room.
>>
I kinda wanna just pin him down and empty a SoS mag right into his face. Then with the lights out from our hounds we can grab lucy and get right the fuck outta there.
>>
>>40122957
We got the Power of Blood upgrade, so even if we do kill him we can just drink his blood and get PP from it.
>>
>>40122957
Seconsing snagging a couple bundles of cash as we walk past it. Nothing more that'll slow us down.
>>
>>40122928
So what blood power was it that we used on Toad? Convulsing Shock? Does that get a bonus from touch or something?
>>
>>40122959
Well now that you've said that, we're almost guaranteed to have her walk in the room right as we're drinking his blood.
>>
>>40122993
"I told you, kid. I told you that Zeshic shit would fuck you up."
>>
>>40122991

You used blood curse and convulsing shock. But the convulsing shock was delivered to the throat and face, so it did a more damage than it would elsewhere, and the blood curse helped make it a lot worse.

Pretty much any attack is going to do more damage if delivered point blank to the opponent's throat.

So, uh, is this concluding Q&A? Can I go to bed now?
>>
>>40123015
Ouch.
I can't wait to hit more people with magical bloodrape. Shit's so cash.

We can get some back from that, but we're running low on PP so I'd like to get as much as possible. I'm pretty sure the PP we get from snacking is separate from draining, so if we can steal some with Dark Heart or Soul Drinker as well, that'd be snazzy.

>>40123015
I would like to propose plan "Stop Hitting Yourself". Once the lights are at least partially taken care of and we can use our shadow for touch attacks without serious trouble, or we end up in melee with this guy, use Puppet Limb on him and make him smash his own fucking face in with the sledge.
>>
>>40123079
>I'm pretty sure the PP we get from snacking is separate from draining
The PP from snacking is tied to how much PP they had when they died. How much we get is based on how much magic is in their blood. Draining the magic out of their body before we drink them means that there's less to get from the drinking.
>>
>>40123079
We can already use our shadow for touch attacks even with the lights on. We got that one upgrade that makes our personal shadow super light-resistant.
>>
>>40123058

Definitely not Sunday. Next week sometime, maybe around Wednesday.

>>40123079

Touch attacks via shadow self are top tier, and I am glad you are utilizing your blood magic abilities. I think Sierra's at the point where she has enough flexibility to handle almost any situation, given she reacts accordingly.

>>40123095

Even if you drain somebody of all their free magic, their blood's still going to have magic in it, scaling to how much power they have and where it comes from.
>>
>>40123133
>Touch attacks via shadow self are top tier
Now when you say that, do you mean "top tier good" or "top tier difficult to pull off"?
>>
>>40123133
Cool. Thanks for running Languid!!
>>
>>40123145

It's not hard to flail around and touch stuff.
>>
>>40123145
Seeing as we've technically had the capability since forever and people have been saying we should do it since forever, yet we've never once actually utilized it, I'm going to guess it's really hard for some reason.

But seeing as >>40123169 just posted, I'd be wrong.
>>
>>40123145
It's a 2 meter long tentacle of shadow. That's damn near a ranged attack.
>>
>>40123169
Might be time to see if we can imitate Satt and put a machete in each shadow arm and become a blender.
>>
>>40123179
Maybe Sierra just doesn't realize that she can do it.
>>
>>40123203
That's as good an explanation as any.

Sierra's gotten so many abilities so quickly that I don't think you could really blame her if she isn't using them all at optimum efficiency 24/7.

She was close to mortal less than a year ago, her powers have come on her fast.
>>
>>40123228
>>40123179
>>40123203
Or, more likely, it's because the only touch range powers we had before blood magic were the PP draining Belph stuff and those work better with the claws since they do no damage or stunning.
>>
>>40123241
Dark heart should work just as well either way.
>>
>>40123169
Thanks for running.
>>
>>40123269
It drains just as much PP on contact with using either tentacles or claws, but claws + DH > tentacles + DH. Slicing someone open is much better in a fight than slapping them with a tentacle. Most of the time, anyway.
>>
However we finish this room off, we need to avoid leaving signs of more powers than fire and blood, or Sattler's going to get suspicious.
>>
>>40123456
Aside from using our claws or other pointy/sharp bits and leaving the soon to be corpse being covered in lacerations, I don't think our other powers really leave a sign after usage. And we can burn the body afterwards or something like that to conceal that. If we snack on Roly Satt might be suspicious about all the blood on us, but between us being a hemomancer, and it not being our blood I think we can manage.

Or summoning Tiger, the spine projectiles could be suspicious. And I think it goes without saying that Crabby would be way too obvious, even without the napalm acid glue spit.
>>
>>40123523
>Satt might be suspicious about all the blood on us,
We're already soaked. Toad was on top of us and we handled that by giving him magic haemophilia and then exploding all the veins in his face and throat. He spewed blood all over us.

If we become even more soaked, just tell Satt we ended up having to juice another dude who was fireproof.
