“Great spirits?” you joke. “So what, like gin? Or Scotch?”

“Swhat they call their bloody pagan god, innit?” Rogers explains. “Sa very different place to Valhalla or the Soul Society.”

You nod thoughtfully. “Sure. I'll go. But I'm staying to make sure my Division gets set up first, that okay?”

The Colonel sighs. “Do what you want, marm. It's you who's doin' us a favor.”

It doesn't take more than a few days to work out a schedule and a temporary chain of command. Your Division will be left in the capable hands of Rangiku and your Commandos, who will also follow Yoruichi's instructions should the judgment of a Captain be necessary. Before you leave, Yoruichi presents you with a plain-looking brown cloak, held together at the top by a rope bearing a wooden Shihōin Clan crest.

“This'll get you there and back faster,” she explains. “It's a relic of my Clan, so try not to break it or blow it up?'

“No promises. Take care of things while I'm gone, Lieutenant.”

Rangiku gives you a curt bow. “Of course, Captain. Take care.”

With a passing nod to the Colonel and Captain, you dash off, letting the cloak propel you through the air.

You move faster than you ever have before, by far. The speed of the wind is so fierce that you need to slow down and put on the goggles Yoruichi gave you with the cloak before continuing. The moisture in the air leaves a contrail behind you as you press onward, as if being pushed by the gods themselves. A you hear a roaring boom as a ring of condensation develops behind you in your wake, then a second, and a third.

By the time you reach the eastern coast of the United States, it feels like it's only been a few hours. You press onward over cities and forests and mountains until you reach the center of the continent, marked exactly the way the Valhallan officers told you. Rolling hills and fields of what look like weeds and grasses without end blow past you before you slow yourself down, the rings of cloud disappearing before you lower yourself to the ground.

All around you is the empty, untouched countryside of the great plains.

>Open a Garganta, get some backup from your Arrancar allies

If we keep Gin alive through the Aizen thing, he will likely be locked up for like a few decades or whatever.

Only to be paroled when the Quincy war starts.

I am waiting for the Quincy quest as Riku is taunted to hit bankai, refuses and then curb stomps them anyways.

I figure Toshiro will be stuck as Rangiku's shota LT for a while this time.

Bakudō #58: Kakushitsuijaku again perhaps?

They are about equal, I think Yoruichi might be slightly faster, but it is very very close.

They do regularly spar and practice against each other at full throttle, so Riku also knows how to combat such speed.
>>

>>
>>40160411
Given our Zanpakuto, I suspect that we could get 11/10 in Kido if we focused on it.

Tenkotsuki's potential power is pretty terrifying. I want to see how she could modify Kurohitsugi or Hiryū Gekizoku Shinten Raihō.

Add in Hollow Mask. Add in potential Resureccion, or False Bankai. It's firework night.
>>
>>40160397
If you were a Great Spirit, where would you be? Actually, you know the answer to that. You'd be in the same place, but you'd be a Great Spirit. So that's not really very helpful, is it?

“Tenkotsuki, you feel anything around here that could be a god?” you ask.

The ghostly image of your Zanpakuto flickers into view in front of you, looking around. You note the look of concern on her face, and you don't like it at all.

“This whole place is infused with a low level of reishi,” she explains. Now that you've been told that, you can feel it too. It's almost as if...

“The gods are all around us, my dear Riku. A part of the very earth itself, the air we breath, the water, the trees... something is coming.”

A fluctuation in your surroundings, an impossibly dense reiatsu that makes your hair stand up and your scalp tingle. Before you arises the form of a great bird, its wings spanning tens of meters and arcing with little bursts of reiatsu-infused lightning. Storm clouds gather, the sky is set alight with the raw power that seeps from the being... no, the God before you. A booming voice fills your ears as sheets of lighting touch off sparks and flames across the rolling hills that are extinguished just as quickly by the driving rain, unintelligible words making unknowable demands of you.

Tenkotsuki's image disappears and her voice returns to your mind.

“Whatever you wish to do, do so now!”

“Don't suppose you speak English?” you ask, doing your best to sound polite rather than terrified.

The Thunderbird, for that's what it definitely is, flaps its wings a few times, hovering in place. You can't really tell if a bird is being thoughtful, since it has no body language to speak of, but the fact that it hasn't incinerated you yet is good. At least you think it's good.

Just in case it's not, you prepare to open a Garganta if it decides to attack.

Your eventual response is a massive explosion of feathers and lightning bolts.

“BANKAI!” you roar, quickly releasing Higeki no Ōjo. But much to your surprise the reiatsu-infused lightning doesn't stop. The paths of the individual bolts are diverted in some cases, or else they slow enough to be dodged, but they're not suppressed at all. Strange, that.

“Well that could have gone better,” Tenkotsuki muses before suddenly falling silent. “Oh, not another one...”

Before you is a new arrival: replacing the Thunderbird is a second divine figure. This one, it seems, wears the form of a coyote. Unlike the Thunderbird it replaced it seems to make no attempt at communication, instead sniffing at the air around you.

You watch the God carefully. “What's it doing?”

“It would appear to be smelling your reiatsu,” Tenkotsuki replies, suddenly sounding rather amused. “I wonder what he thinks of us?”

You look down at your Bankai outfit: your 'true' one, at that. The twelve layers are supported around your upper body like those of a noblewoman of days long past, trailing behind you and at your sides over pale blue hakama. Each time it seems that and the outermost layer of white are the only colors that remain the same, and this time it seems that Tenkotsuki has deemed the hairpiece given to you by Yoruichi is nice enough not to replace with something more elaborate.

Deep within the folds of your outfit are your twin kodachi, still sheathed, and the star ball belonging to Tenkotsuki herself.

"He probably thinks we're over-dressed," you joke.

"Shut up, you look magnificent."

After thoroughly investigating your scent, Coyote lowers his head and neck in an unmistakable bow. A god... is bowing to you?

"Only proper to return the gesture," Tenkotsuki muses. "A few degrees deeper than his, that does it."

After exchanging silent pleasantries Coyote begins trotting away from you towards a rocky plateau in the distance, stopping at the crest of a hill and looking at you expectantly over his shoulder.

You follow at a cautious pace, gradually catching up to Coyote as he leads you towards the plateau.

“Where are we going?” you ask, not really expecting an answer and not surprised when you don't receive one. “Okay then. Lead the way, I guess.”

It's a Coyote, it may not be able to speak.

You contemplate dropping Bankai, but Tenkotsuki seems hesitant. “Coyote treated you differently once he smelled you... even going so far as to bow. A god, bowing to a Shinigami... I do not need to tell you how unusual that is.”

Eventually you and your guide reach the top of the plateau, just as night begins to fall. At the center of the plateau is a small hole in the ground, with a ladder. Smoke rises out of the hole, and Coyote leaps down into the darkness. You yourself float down slowly into the underground room. A fire burning fragrant wood sits at the center of the circular chamber, which is some twenty meters across. The ceiling is thatched, with support timbers running across at regular intervals. All around the perimeter is a low bench with what look like blankets, though nobody is in the structure at all.

Coyote takes a seat on the far side of the flames, resting on a folded blanket. Sensing that the proper thing to do is seat yourself opposite him, you do so, carefully arranging your trailing kimonos so that they won't get too dusty or end up underneath you. Coyote watches with some amusement as you do so.

Before you sits a God, and between you is a small ceramic cup. The cup fills slowly with an unknown liquid, and Coyote looks at you expectantly.

Look Riku has no idea that Coyote is a trickster spirit, but we do know manners.
>>
>>40162327

I would say.

Especially since the 1500's there have been multiple plagues the ripped through Native American communities, destroying tribes. Then eventually the dominent culture that took over fully in the 1700's and 1800's was a foreign one that did not respect those gods.

Be one fucked up after life.
>>
>>40161881
You look first to the cup, then back up to Coyote, who looks at you, then down at the cup. You look at the cup, then back up a Coyote. Coyote cocks his head at you as you lift the cup slowly to your nose and sniff.

Pine needles, you'd say. Nothing that would make you suspect poison.

Tenkotsuki offers you the mental equivalent of a shrug as you sip at the drink. It's bitter, but no more so than tea when you scald the leaves a little. Which for you is every time you try and prepare tea for yourself or for anyone else. Yoruichi makes most of the tea you drink nowadays.

This drink... it's not tea, is it?

No, it's something entirely more... more... whatever the fuck that word is you're looking for.

Oh Gods you're high as hell right now.

In front of you Coyote's form shifts and distorts to the sound of children laughing and pine trees sighing in the wind and crackling embers as the whole of creation burns all at once. His fur changes through a million hues and tones before becoming tanned skin, his bones and limbs warp and cast inhuman shadows dancing about the small confines of what used to feel like a large chamber, the walls slowly closing in all around you.

His head and face are those of a human now, and his body only just finishes a similar metamorphosis.

“Glad to finally meet you,” he greets you, his voice booming and hissing and wailing and whispering all at once. “I am Coyote. What business brings you here, my dearest guest?”

What business... your sword? You can't hear her response, but she'd probably just say something snide anyway. You hate her. She's good people.

“Are you feeling well?” Coyote asks you, his voice slithering through your ears like a hissing purple snake.

You shake your head briefly. “My brain feels like spiders and I can smell time... it's a quarter to eight, in case you were wondering.”

The God grins. “Never heard of that reaction before. So, Shinigami. What business do you have here?”

“I... I was here to ask you something,” you mutter. “It was... about the war. That's right. The Valhallans need help. From the Great Spirit.”

“Then I suppose things have gotten bad across the water,” he muses to himself in a voice like distant thunder. “I will look into this. Perhaps one of my little brothers may be sent.”

“Little brothers?” you ask, not understanding his meaning.

He nods, and as you look at him his features stabilize, suddenly appearing vaguely familiar. “Indeed. Those Coyotes of great power that are my servants are my little brothers, and I am their big brother. You met one of them, you know. Thank you for caring for him.”

Wait, you met his little brother? That means...

“Starrk?” you ask in disbelief. The God who looks like Starrk but isn't nods quietly.

“Indeed. His full name is Coyote Starrk, one of my little brothers who fell in battle against a powerful group of skinwalkers. His despair turned him into what you would call a Hollow, and he went astray for a time beyond my care to count.”

“Please take care of him, and let the Valhallans know the Great Spirit shall hear their plea. He cannot turn a blind eye to such suffering even among another God's children.”

Trying to figure out when he will show up in the quest.

>Indeed. His full name is Coyote Starrk, one of my little brothers who fell in battle against a powerful group of skinwalkers.
Hah. Called it. Starrk is a coyote related to coyote.
>>
>>40163586
Shiiiiiiiit man.
>>
>>40163586
pfffffffAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA FUCKIN HELL KING I LOVE YOU!
>>
>>40163586
Oh hell yes.
>>

There's something you still don't understand, though...

“Why with the drugs?” you ask haltingly. “It makes it tough to think. Does it let me talk with you or something?”

“Oh, that?” Coyote booms, shifting back into the form of a four-legged canine once more. “Of course not. It just amuses me to no end the possible reactions when I use that little trick... even Gods have to have hobbies, you know!”

Great... so he literally got you high out of your skull for no reason but his own enjoyment. Gods... are kind of jerks, you realize.

“Now, I will return you to your loved ones, _____,” Coyote bows his head politely, using a term of address you can't quite understand. “Please undo your own technique so I can do so more easily.”

You do as he requests, and suddenly find yourself sitting across a campfire from Yoruichi. She's so startled by your sudden appearance that she falls off the piece of rubble she's using as a seat with a shout.

“Riku!? The hell!? Don't sneak up on us like that... and how the hell're you even here!?”

You snag a cup of water from Rangiku, who's seated next to you, and slowly sip it to help recover your nerves and hopefully deal with your pounding headache.

“Never drink tea with Coyote,” you tell her with a wince. “It's every bit as bad an idea as you'd imagine."
>>
>>40163677

Not all trips are bad trips Riku.

This was just a very interesting one.
>>
>>40163677
not even going to say it.

And that's where I'll have to end it for the weekend. Hope you enjoyed your little glimpse into the afterlife of North America, and I'll see you next weekend. Thanks for playing!

Archive is up, and I'll stick around for a bit. Please note that next weekend is the last run for a little while, since my schedule gets really fucking complicated for a few months. Keep an eye on twitter for details as I have them.
>>
>>40163677
Oh, come on, we all know Coyote's Peyo-tea is high quality shit.
>>
>>40163745
Thank's for running King!
>>
Well thanks for running mate.
>>
>>40163745
Thanks for the threads, King.
>>
>>40163745
Starrk's going to be happy to hear that he has family from us isn't he? And that coyote that sniffed us smelled starrk on us didn't he?
>>
>>40163745

Looks like there is more to Riku then we currently know.
>>
>>40163745
welp. Now we're gonna have to wait since King's on Hiatus for the summer. Until he returns in the fall.
>>
>>40163745
Good run, Queen. See you next week.
>>
>>40163677
>“Now, I will return you to your loved ones, _____,” Coyote bows his head politely, using a term of address you can't quite understand.
I be the last word was spoken in Navajo. It might have something to do with our fox motif.
>>
>>40163746
I hate you, but also love you for that pun.
>>
>>40163745
so why did our bankai make the gods react differently to us? Was it because we seemed more like a kitsune or something else?
>>
>>40163876
Let's find more gods and find out.
>>
>>40163876

High Lady of court perhaps.

We stood as someone who does not look too out of place petitioning to gods.

Nothing at all to do with Tenkotsuki, Nope. Save your shadow runs for Aizen.
>>
>>40163876
since our bankai dispells all illusions. I think it also dispells the illusion of our human form and revealing to the gods what we really are.
>>
>>40163939
>since our bankai dispells all illusions.
Annnd that outed you as a troll jackass, Actually read before you shitpost
>>
>>40163876
I thought it stopped the zappy bird because we did the reiatsu equivalent of fluffing out our feathers.
>>
>>40163745
Did we tell Kisuke about our Valley of Screams?
>>
>>40163976
Thunderbird disappeared before you released Higeki no Ōjo, to go get Coyote. The latter has a better understanding of things that don't belong to the domain of the American deities. It was Coyote who reacted to you curiously.

So the burst of feathers and lightning was not an attack, just Thunderbird going to get Coyote.
>>
>>40163866
probably mą’iiłtsxooi, but I have no fucking clue how to pronounce it. literally means 'orange coyote' which is what navajo called foxes
>>
When the quincies attack we are going to go get help from the vallahalians and the native american deities.
>>
>>40164186
so......is Riku a distant relative or a former divine being? because normally divine beings don't call each other by their true names unless it's a form of personal endearment or formal greeting. The fact that Coyote addressed her as "Mą’iiłtsxooi" and not as "Riku" has a pretty huge implication in who she really is.
>>
>>40164400

Maybe, probably some weird interplay with Tenko and Riku herself.
>>
>>40164400
>>40164186
Making a looooot of assumptions, there.
>>
>>40164400
That address probably isn't even right, and we have no idea how gods talk to each other, so it really has no implications whatsoever. All we know is that Coyote addressed us using a word we couldn't understand, and that he's oddly polite towards Riku.
>>
>>40164447
It is weird how she already was able to mess with our memories before we even touched an Asauchi.
>>
>>40164505

Shit has been weird that way since Riku talked to Rosa and found out they were split when she died.

Tenko should not have existed then and Quincy abilities don't have a form other then Ywatch.
>>
>>40164542
>Tenko should not have existed then
Assuming that she didn't spontaneously arise at that same time, like she seemed to be saying.

>Quincy abilities don't have a form other then Ywatch
Not even sure what that's supposed to mean, but who says Quincies even work the same way they do in canon? Even OP said from the beginning not to make assumptions like that.
>>
>>40164542
I dont think you should jump from "Weird outlier that can use abilities she shouldn't be able to"

to

"is somehow a god, or something similar"

Get some more evidence and convince me, I'll back you, but I mean, come on. That's a bit of a stretch.

Plus, I don't think Riku uses techniques that are straight up Quincy exclusive, she taught Best Cat Blut Vene, and it seems Riku's form of movement isn't exclusive either, but I dont know offhandedly.
>>
>>40164625
>>40164625

There is a lot of weird shit happening with Riku in the back ground that won't be revealed for a while for plot reasons.
>>
>>40164724
Hey man, no doubt, but stick to your theorizing, and I'll stick to shadowrunning.

This is above my paygrade, it all seems wonky to me.
>>
>>40164767

That works, this is a bleach quest, shadow runs can reach Kubo levels quick.

Still, pastebin win?
>>
I wonder how those two guys we met who asked us to get america's help will react when we come back here 20 years later to deal with WW2?
>>
>>40164915

Riku will be dealing with too much shit in Japan for WW2.
>>
>>40164915
>>40165009
Better question

How pissed will Coyote sound when Japan decides to fuck with his country?

How pissed will the Hawaiian pantheon be?

Fuckin' A, Hawaiian gods were hardcore as shit.
>>
>>40165041
them volcano gods mang.
>>
>>40165041

Not his country, and the shit that happened in the US was small beans compared to what happened elsewhere in WW2.

Also sounds like the after life is properly divorced from real world politics.
>>
>>40165088
>Hawaii is part of America, where he is from, just like how Hawaii is part of my country, as I am from America

While that is true, the sheer hateboners that Americans popped from that was absolutely ridiculous. And though the politics are removed, no one likes seeing their people hurt. Coyote is VERY involved with the population.
>>
>>40165041
>>40165088
>Pele, we're not responsible for our humans, please stop setting the Soul Society on fire.
>Of course we respect you, Pele. Nobody said otherwise.
>Yes, you're very fetching, and your fire is pretty too. It's just in an inconvenient place, Pele. Please try to understand that most residents of the Rukongai don't like being set on fire.
>>
>>40165237
>tfw OMG and Pele just look at each other and nod
>>
>>40165237
Actually Pele burning down the Rukongai might be a good thing, because then we'd have some room when the bombs drop.
>>
>implying anyone not from the States gives two shits about Pearl Harbour
>>
>>40165286
I'm pretty sure OMG and Squad Zero already beat up the Shinto pantheon which is why we don't see them anywhere. Either that or they think they're better then both living AND dead humans.
>>
Which afterlife has to deal with the souls when people die? The one where they died, or the one where they were born? Are we going to have to deal with the shitton of nips dead in the war in china, or do they go to chinese heaven?
