"...Dancing Smoke?" You call out, trying to stand back up.

"No." You hear the reply of the goddess, as she emerges in her terrible splendor from out of the pillar of blazing magma. "The Flame That Marched Against The Sea."

Around you, the mountains themselves are trembling and burning. There is little left of the volcano, most of it blown away by the first eruption, or crumbled into the quickly-rising pool of lava. The jet of fire is ascending to the heavens, not falling back to the ground, but instead slowly bending against the dark skies, a firey conflagration that must be visible for countless miles in the night.

The column of fire has a dragon's head, horns, wings and scales.

You finally manage to regain your footing. You're hurt, burned even despite your resistance, and feel blood trickling out of your eyes, ears, nose and mouth from the sheer stress and pressure the last few minutes have put your body through. But the ground hasn't stopped shaking, and, from your high-altitude vantage point standing on the mountains of central Tianna, you can see the entire island shaking.

"You did this to me." The elemental-goddess hisses, her eyes fixed on you. Above and behind her, the dragon of fire coils.

"SMOKE! PLEASE!" You can hear Samiel scream, trying to draw her attention. He is perched atop a single spike of rock that, either by choice or by miracle, did not crumble down like the others into the lake of lava - and you're not sure if immunity to natural fire would help him - or you - in this circumstance.

As of now, with the destruction of Dancing Smoke's volcano, he's literally standing on the highest point of the entire island, buffeted by the fierce winds caused by the massive conflagration.

"Stop calling me that." Samiel needs to scream at the top of his lungs and his voice barely reaches you, but you can cleanly hear the goddess even when her words are just a bit above an upset whisper. "That was a lie. A lie I've believed for so long..."

Her head snaps back to you, as she slowly glides in your direction, her two pair of wings - one feathered, one leathery - spread behind her without any need to flap.

"And look at me now. I'm a CRIPPLE." She spits, with disgust. "My powerful body, my once-glorious form... broken, buried under waves and dirt, picked clean by scavengers..."

Ever since you Exalted and were blessed with the might of the Unconqured Sun, you've felt pretty good about yourself. Pretty confident. You withstood without too much trouble things that would have terrified you as a mortal. The Fae, the Lintha, Abyssals, even a Deathlord.

"...It was YOU. YOU were my tyrant. It's YOUR fault."

Now, you're genuinely terrified.

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. Queen of Gem, now ruling the western island of Tianna. You have gathered a lot of allies and friends, and have a powerful Manse under construction.
But Tianna is actually an artificial island, built around a First Age Titan: an almighty flying fortress built in an ancient, forgotten age, and although this is kept secret, two Deathlords are seeking to obtain it.
The Tyrant of the Doomsday Machine, ghost of your past incarnation, seeked it as a weapon to cut her ties to the Neverborn. But you have persuaded her to try and seek redemption in the eyes of the Sun in other ways, and count her as an unlikely ally.
But now the Silver Prince is coming, to punish her and claim the Titan for himself in the name of Oblivion. And this looks like a battle you won't be able to talk your way out of...

>Solar? Zenith? I don't know Exalted...
This quest is as newbie-friendly as possible, and I want it to work as a newbie's intro to Exalted. If you have ANY question, ask in thread. For the setting, google "1d4chan exalted".

>Archive?
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Solar%20Quest

>System?
Dicepool-like system. When performing an action, everyone rolls 1d10 when posting. the first X rolls are considered, where X is equal to attribute + ability. Yes, this means that the more people are posting, the stronger Maka is, up to a limit of her attribute + ability.

>XP?
Attributes cost [current score x5] xp. Abilities cost [current score x3] xp, except Zenith costing [(current score x3) -1]. Charms cost 10 xp, except for Zenith-based charms (related to charisma and physical/mental fortitude) which cost 8 xp. At the end of every "session" (thread) you will be presented with a list of possible acquisitions.

Well depending on the next 2 dice rolled, MRP might not be worth it as we're at 11 dice rolled and no successes in after the 10th roll so MRP wouldn't do anything and would just be a waste of Essence

>>40194558
ah so thats what that means, good to know for the future
>>
>>40194558
No it doesn't, those faded out boxes represent our personal essence, the motes that don't make us flare, those are the first ones spent unless we say otherwise, we've already used those, the commit on the way here on the Swift Rider and all our Burn activating AiRS last session

It should give us one extra success.

Also, what's the official stance on when charms should be declared? Can we wait until we see the regular dice result and then make a judgement as to using charms to boost that roll?
>>
>>40194677
Well, yes, because it's not like it can be done differently with a quest format and these mechanics.
I mean, it's not by design, but it's an inevitable part of how the system works, so I just accept it.

I even it out with the NPCs being able to do the same when managing THEIR rolls, so it's alright.

(Incidentally I'd say that this and a few other things of my Quest's system actually make the Exalted in Exalted Quest be quite a bit more powerful than how they are in baseline Exalted... Which I don't mind. I like crazy.)
>>
>>40194677
as metagamey as
>Can we wait until we see the regular dice result and then make a judgement as to using charms to boost that roll?
feels, I'd say thats probably the best way to go about it, it avoids arguments and shit getting kicked up when we vote to use something to get more dice, and still get no successes like in last thread
>>
>>40194677

Six successes is pretty good. It should be enough to make her not kill us immediatly.

>>
>>40194719

>>
>>40194719

Oh, gods and angels.

>>
I'm wondering if we should be popping AiRS too just in case she lashes out
>>
>>40194813
It won't, if we manage to make her remember the good things in her life as Dancing Smoke.

But that's for later, right now we need to convince The Flame that Marched Against the Sea to not burn us alive because of First Age fuckups.

>>
Rolled 1 (1d10)

>>40194441
Seconding this. We aren't our previous Exaltation, and at every turn we've tried to preserve the Titan's functions. We took the risk to restore her memories and invite her anger because we wanted her to be as whole as possible. We also promised to be kind to whoever she became.
>>
You take your first steps up the broken, shattered mountaintop, the cracks in the rock quickly filling and overflowing with white-hot magma.

"IT WASN'T ME!" You scream up to Flame, as she slowly descends to meet you. You can see, behind her, Samiel trying to climb down the rock spike that was all that was left of the mountain around him trying to catch up with her.

"Oh, sure." The goddess replies, her face a mask of bitterness. "You'd really love to inherit the good but not the bad, would you? Have the power, the right, the mandate of heaven, the blessings of the Unconquered Sun. THOSE you have right to. But what about all the bad? Just blame it on the one that came before... HOW COMFORTABLE."

"It wasn't me." You repeat. "I'm a different person. I didn't do those things. I wanted to help! I wanted to help you!"

[MAJESTIC RADIANT PRESENCE] (Scenelong)
[COMMIT ESSENCE: 5/8]

[Soc + Zen = 9 7 1 7 2 7 5 2 10 3 2 2 8 = 7 successes]

"HELP ME?!" Another mountain explodes in the background, consumed in a blaze of flame. "Oh, sure, your HELPED me. You BROUGHT ME BACK. To a broken Age, to a crippled body, to such a sad excuse for an existence..."

(cont.)
>>
She groans, more sad than angry anymore.

"You broke the world, Maka. You and your fellow Solars... you created a beautiful, golden age for Creation... and then, with those same hands, you smashed it into an ugly wreck. Much like you did with me. You took the time and care to actually make me, to forge me as the mightiest of weapons against Creation's enemies... and then, you BROKE me. Maybe it would've been better to never have existed in the first place, if this was how it was going to turn out."

"...I can't change the past, Flame. But I can change the future. Will you believe in me?" You offer up a hand to her.

[Soc + Zen = 3 10 4 1 9 6 4 9 6 4 7 7 4 = 6 successes]

She stares at it with disdain. "Why should I?"

Those words hurt you more than a sword through the chest.

"Why should I trust you? After what you've done to me."

"It wasn't her!" Samiel has caught up to you. He's covered in sweat and burn and scorch marks, and it's hard to tell if his Anima is flaring or if he's genuinely on fire. "It's an Age long past!"

She snaps back at him: "NOT FOR ME!"

He slams his foot down, without stepping back, despite the strength of her vicious glare. "But it IS for everyone else! No one here was alive back then except for you! It's not fair to hold people guilty for crimes committed in a different life!"

"NOT FAIR?" She glowers, the great snake of fire in the sky coiling, ready to strike. "Do you know what's not fair? What I went through. I once soared through the heavens... one of the four mightiest fortresses ever devised, a bastion to protect humankind from the horrors of the beyond. A paladin of a golden age." You see tears of molten fire in her eyes. "I was turned against the people I was sworn to protect. The misdirected rage of a petty tyrant forced me to burn the very cities I was born to defend. And I had to obey. THAT is not fair."

"...I'm sorry for what you went through, Flame. But... It wasn't my fault. Or that of anyone still alive, right here, right now." You say.

"Oh, you're wrong about that." She turns aside, looking westwards.

You see, far in the distance, the fire dragon floating through the air, heading for the Dark Omen landed just north of Pearl.

"First of all, I'll take care of the Tyrant. Then, I'll fly once more, and burn the Silver Prince with my Light of Judgement."

"Y- you can't take off." Samiel is astonished. "The whole island will crumble..."

It basically means that she's beyond the capacities of any modern Exalt, with numbers changing depending of circumstances
>>
>>40195908
Well considering she's a couple centuries late to the party and her body and form are nowhere near the shape they used to be, I'd say some numbers should be changing depending on circumstance.

I just pray to UCS-senpai that Samiel can help keep her under control and bring her back before she does something stupid.

"If you do this... you'd just be killing the people you should be protecting, once more, and of your own will this time." You point out, trying to keep an even tone of voice. Trying to calm her down.

[Soc + Zen = 8 9 1 10 6 6 4 5 3 4 2 3 4 = 4 successes]
[TALKING TO THE HEART]

"I KNOW!" She screams, the giant fire dragon arcing in the sky, ready to fall down on the Dark Omen, utterly destroy it...

...she's a Deathlord. She might not die from that. But that's no excuse to let it happen.

Despite everything.

"...I know, but what can I do?..."

Samiel closes up enough to hug her, both arms around his waist. Only seeing the two of them like this, side by side, perspective and distance finally sink in: she must be around 3 meters tall. Next to her, Samiel looks... really small.

You see smoke rising from the two of them, and dancing in the windy air.

As a Fire-aspect, Samiel should be immune to normal fire and heat. But this is anything but normal. His clothes catch fire, as does his hair, and the air fills with the stench of burned flesh.

Flame looks down on him, almost uninterested, and simply says: "Let me go."

"No."

"I'm not Dancing Smoke."

He looks up to her. "...You remembered a lot of things. But... did you forget? The time we spent together?"

"...No."

(cont)
>>
"Then you're still Dancing Smoke to me."

"Flame. Or Dancing Smoke. Or whatever you want us to call you." You sigh, stepping closer to the two. "You wanted to know why you should trust me."

She glares at you, but says nothing. Her arms rest to her sides, and she does nothing to try to break Samiel's hold on her.

"What have you got to lose? I don't have the codes or the ability to command you. You can just give us a chance. I can't force you to do anything against your will."

She looks away. "There isn't much I can do anyway."

You look at that enormous shape of fire coiled against the night sky, and your brain freezes for a second. If she considers that nothing, if she considers herself ugly, broken and helpless now, then... what must have been a Directional Titan at the height of the First Age?

"You can fall down on the Dark Omen and annihilate the only Deathlord actively trying to break free of the Primordial's grasp, then take off and kill the island's population of one hundred and fifty thousand people."

She groans, and the shape of fire slowly dissolves itself in the night. The tremors subside. "Thank you for pointing out once more how useless I've become."

>You're not. We need you. These people need you. Creation needs you. And Samiel needs you. (s+z)

"You're not." You smile up to her, closing in in a hug yourself, your Anima in full flare. "We need you. These people need you. Creation needs you."

To the touch, she' feels as hot as hugging molten steel, hotter than the very lava she has risen from. But the temperature, you feel, is quickly falling. The fires on Samiel's body have extinguished, replaced by his own natural Anima flare as well.

"And Samiel needs you." You conclude. "So please. Give us a chance."

"I.. I might not know anything you've been through. I might not be able to share that pain, or ease it." Samiel pleads. "But... I promise. From now on, I'll do everything I can to make you happy."

[Soc + Zen = 7 8 9 9 10 6 8 6 6 3 8 8 7 = 10 successes]

" I won't betray you. I won't let you down. And I promise, you will fly again one day."

She opens her lava-tear-soaked eyes wide, looking down on you. Even if you're quite tall, she still towers above you.

"...Me... fly again?"

You nod. " I made sure that all your essential systems were left intact, and deactivated your self-destruct switch. Your core systems are undamaged, or can all be repaired. You can fly."

"But... the people..."

"We will find a way." You reassure her.

She stares at the sky, lost in thought. "...I used to be the one who protects the cities of Creation... Never thought I'd become one of them."

(cont.)
>>
She gently pushes Samiel away. "...But I'm not Dancing Smoke. Even if I remember how she was." She smiles lightly. "How fond she was of you. I don't know how seriously. But... I'm a different goddess."

"If you're giving Maka a chance to prove herself to you... won't you give me one as well?" He pleads.

"...I can't say no to those eyes." She replies., turning her back to him, but giving him a quick peek over his shoulder, before facing you. "...Maka."

"Yes?"

"I'll hold you to those promises. And if I ever feel unsatisfied by how you keep them... I will BURN. DOWN. EVERYTHING."

Despite how hot it is around you, you feel the coldest of shivers running down your spine. You look into her crimson eyes, and see the West burning.

"And... I want to see the Tyrant." She asks. But it wasn't a polite question.

"The Tyrant?" You HOPE you heard wrong.

"I want five minutes with her. That's all I'll need."

"...Do you plan to try and kill her?"

"It's not my plan, but I make no promises for what will actually happen." She replies, fierce.

"...Yes. I imagine you two need to... talk to each other."

"Something like that." She mumbles, staring at the distant Dark Omen.

You don't have any sight-enhancing charms, but you bet that, if you had them, you'd be seeing the Tyrant, there, standing on the deck of the airship, looking right back.

You can't imagine with what face, though.

"...What if Tyrant knows your command codes?" You wonder.

"You want me to give everyone a second chance." She growls. "Even to her. Well, that's her second chance. If she uses those codes... I'll know exactly how little she has changed."

She seems determined.

"Will you fight with us against the Silver Prince?" Asks Samiel.

Man, now that you can get a better look at him... he's ruined. His skin is all burned, peeling off in places, third degree burns anywhere he touched Flame, his hair burned down almost to the scalp, eyebrows gone. And of the dress Dancing Smoke loved, almost nothing is left.

"No." She replies. "If invaders will come. I will fight them on my own. In my own way, on my own terms." She takes a few steps back towards the lava pool, and then spreads her wings and gently begins to float towards it. "I... don't really feel like following anyone's orders right now. I'll try not to get in your way, at least."

The both of you just look at the goddess disappearing into the fire, then, Samiel turns his burned-off, broken, messed-up face at you. It's hard to tell if he's trying to grin, or if his upper lip was simply burned off.

"I think that went pretty well."

Then he collapses.

You rush up to Samiel and do a quick check.

You might not be a first aid genius, but you know enough to tell when someone's life is in danger, and Samiel's is... well, he's wrecked, but he's an Exalted, so he's not in any IMMEDIATE danger.

You're not in a much better shape yourself, you reason, looking at yourself. Every bone and muscle in your body hurts, and your skin is seriously burned in several places. Even your hair is singed hideously. Your damage is more internal than external, unlike Samiel (who took the brunt of Flame's rage, while you were mostly hurt by the Essence vent and the fall, but you're only marginally better off.

[BODY MENDING MEDITATION]
[COMMIT ESSENCE: 3/8]

You take a deep breath, try to stabilize the flows of Essence in your body, and set them towards repairing the damage you have suffered. Knitting laceration, repairing hairline fractures, patching your skin up, even regrowing your hair.

It'll take a while, but the sooner you start, the sooner you'll be done.

You unfold the Swiftrider and, Trying not to hurt him too much, get both yourself and Samiel riding up on it.

[COMMIT ESSENCE: 1/8]
[Physical + Eclipse = 10 6 6 9 4 9 = 4 successes]

Riding down the jagged mountains, you make for the road between Tianna City and Pearl, and, once there, accelerate to full speed towards your Manse.

The people there are understandably worried about the lightshow they just witnessed, but you can see a certain measure of relief in their eyes when they see you back... which then turns back to worry when they see your and especially Samiel's conditions, causing his soldiers and officers to become particularly anguished.

But you reassure them that you'll take care of him, and head immediately to Silk's Realm to drop him off.

Wait, so did The Flame That Marched Against The Sea actually announce her presence and status as a directional Titan to the entire island like an idiot, or was your description of how loud she was rhetorical?

"I'm not a hospital, you know." Is her deadpan reply, when she sees you with yet another wounded Exalted to drop off.

"You are now." You reply. "Also, treat him well."

"You mean well like your brother, or-"

"I mean well NOT like my brother." You shoot her down immediately. "Is he coming along nicely, by the way?"

"Oh? Oh, yes. I'm milking a lot of Gossamer off him- er, I mean, his wounds are almost healed and I'm making sure he doesn't move around too much while I, er, tend to him." She grins.

You give her a long, hard stare, and then drop off Samiel in her arms. "How's Regis, by the way?"

"Oh, he's fine. Got back up real quick. He wanted to train more on his own, so I let him, but I think now he left after I pointed out to him that he'd been in here for a bit too long." She explains.

"Good." You nod.

So, on top of exposure to powerful Solar and Lunar essences, Maka's children have also been exposed to intense essence venting from the super weapon to end all super weapons and the Wyld. Right, sorry. Probably a typo. 2/2/2 it is.

You leave Silk's Realm and meet Amata in her rooms, which are, by now, one of the few locales in the manse to enjoy actual furniture. Not much, though: a desk, a chair, a bed, a few chests and cupboards and cabinets, clearly lifted from her (vastly more impressive) rooms in Tianna and carried all the way here.

"...Geez, you look like an incinerator has punched you in the face." She puts down the reports she was reading on her desk and looks up to you. "...Did it work?"

You let out a long sigh. "...Sort of. Sammy got a bit hurt..."

"That bitch." She snaps the quill pen she was using in half. "I'll END her."

"Calm down." You put a hand on her shoulder. You know she doesn't mean it. "He was great. If it wasn't for him... Flame would've probably killed me."

"So, she changed name?" She stands up from the chair and stretches tiredly left and right. "Got all the memories back?"

"Especially the bad ones." You note. "I've... never seen a god like that."

"She's a unique case, at this point." Amata explains, sitting down on the bed. "Her god-body is probably a lot more powerful than it was ever meant to be, and she probably ended up somewhere between actual goddess and elemental, beyond the matter-spirit line."

"That border that separated gods and elementals?" You wonder.

"Yes. Originally, well, she was obviously meant to be a goddess, but the association with the volcano and the fact that it was the only manifestation of her being that could be witnessed, for so long, changed her nature more towards elemental. That's my guess, at least. That, and well, the fact that when you turned on that vent..."

"...the Essence vented into her straight from the reactor didn't reach her in its pure form, but converted into heat by the venting system." You remember noticing that. "So now her association is as much with fire and volcanoes as it is with the Titan."

(can't post Amata's pic, fucking connection)
>>
>>40197685
To be fair, First Age Solars were ALSO unstoppable god-killing superweapons. In fact, there were some in the Deliberative who thought that the Titans were an unnecessary waste of resources, saying "we've got US."
>>
"Sort of." She lies down, staring into the ceiling. "Plus, with her "real" body, the Titan, so atrophied, her god-body, her anthropomorphic representation, became more powerful, since all the Essence ended up there instead." She turns her head to you. "Will she help us?"

"She will, though she wants to fight on her own. And... I think she's pissed at the Tyrant."

"Color me amazed." Is her sarcastic reply.

"Yeah." You grumble.

A short pause follows, filled with silence.

"...Aren't you mad?"

"For what?"

"I think that by now nearly everyone will know about the Titan. At least, now Samiel knows. With what he's seen and heard, I'm sure he's smart enough to put two and two together. And anyone within earshot knows, too."

"That was going to happen sooner or later." She groans. "I'm amazed we managed to keep the secret this long."

You nod, briefly lost in your own thoughts.

"...Once this whole deal with the Silver Prince is over, if we survive, everyone will know anyway. I plan on just telling it." Amata whispers.

"You?" That sounds rather odd, coming from her.

"Ever I get tired of all those secrets." She smiles. "I keep them because I must, not because I enjoy lying to people."

"You totally enjoy lying to people."

"Well, alright, I do, but only when it's amusing." She admits.

"...Once the cat gets out of the bag about the Titan, we'll have everyone against us."

"...No, I don't think so." She grins. "I think that knowing we have a Titan will actually keep them off us."

"You're optimistic."

"Who in their right mind would fuck with someone with a dozen-odd Exalted with a functional Directional Titan?" She points out.

(cont.)
>>
"It's not exactly functional."

"What do they know?"

Well, she has a point.

"I hope you're right." You sigh, sitting down on the corner of her bed. "I really... I know that I have a duty towards Creation and everything, but I'd really, really like to be able to look forward to some time of peace."

"You will." She nods. "I'll try my best to make sure of it." And stretches both arms towards you. "Speaking of which, come on, Maka, give me some sugar."

You pass a hand over your burn marks. "...But I'm a wreck right now."

"I don't care." She replies, making a "gimme" motion with her hands.

>Give her some sugar.
>I've got stuff to do, maybe later. (what?)

She does have a good point. If there are nations which still exist purely because they hold Soulbreaker Orbs, having an operational Directional Titan, especially Flame That Marched Against The Sea, would basically mean that either the entire world unites against Tianna (Highly unlikely), or the entire world says 'Oh shit, let's get on their good side'.

And then Maka does her thing, alliances are formed, and Mikhail crashes the economy.

Assuming we don't all get murdered horribly by the Silver Prince, of course.

>I'm sure all 3 of them
All three of the Sidereals, and everyone working for or with them. The factions aren't Sidereal-only political parties, they're semi-autonomous, possibly-rogue espionage factions headed by Sidereals while also containing mortal organizations, tons of gods, and often Dragon-blooded.

For example, if Maka was a Chosen of Serenity, she'd be a member of the one-Sidereal Pearl Faction, which would also count in its numbers nearly a dozen Dragon-blooded, four Solars, five Lunars, a directional titan, a Deathlord, and the Ocean Father, along with the mortal population of Tianna. The Gold Faction runs the illegal Cult of the Illuminated, and the Bronze faction has an alliance with the Realm, as just the more well-known independent operations pursued by those groups.

Never think of Sidereals as elite solo agents who just work for the bureaucracy. They're hyper-elite spy thriller protagonists with independent agendas and personal organizations far above and beyond just the work they do for the Bureau of Destiny. They get their hands dirty when big enough problems arise, but they have personal agendas and allies exactly as any other exalts.

so when we do get a Sidereal, it's gonna be a Chosen of Serenity right?

>>
>>40198501
Okay, so. We have on Team Pearl:

Maka, waifu of the unconquered sun, a circle of solars including Maka's brother, a man who relishes the idea of crashing the economy of the world, a mad scientist, and a magical girl, a circle of lunars, the daughter of Ligier, The Flame That Marched Against The Sea, a royal family of Dragonblooded and a chucklefucking redemption-seeking Deathlord plus her circle of Abyssals

Clashing directly with the BBEG of the current age, the Bodhisattva Anointed By Dark Water, and all his exalts, plus a fleet full of First Age warships and Warstriders in what is promising to be one of the biggest engagements since the start of the age, and the winner of which will be in a prime position to either destroy or rule Creation as a whole.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if everyone in Yu Shan was currently losing their shit on a magnificent scale. Sidereals are probably screaming at each other incoherently. Gods are likely cowering under desks until it all goes away.
>>
>>40198597
I dunno. I could see Amata knowing a Chosen of Secrets.
>>
>>40198597
Actually if we go by what we saw in the First Age flashback we'll get a Chosen of Endings because you know, those things tend to be connected by fate and destiny.
>>
>>40198631
Can you blame them? This battle could change that fate of Creation for an Age to come, maybe even highlight the start of a new Age, and it all happened in little over a couple months
>>
>>40198631
The Pearl Faction also already has the Ocean Father under their umbrella and is preparing to launch a mass memetic attack on Creation using Horizon to Horizon coinage. They even just competed the full foundations of a manse-city in mere days. The Pearl Faction is growing explosively and out of nowhere.

We grassroots as a motherfucker.

>Summoning: (Obscurity 1/5) As befits his station and power, Ligier is one of the hardest demons to summon and bind via sorcery. Yet, sometimes as it rises or sets, the solar disc inexplicably flashes green and Ligier is briefly drawn to the side of a remarkable mortal with-out the call of sorcery. Only a smith performing the masterstrokes of a perfect work of brass, a mortal prince leading his army against Exalted foes, or a blindingly beautiful queen seizing control of a court while unwed can catch his attention thus. In such cases, the Green Sun has little time before the onset of day or darkness sends him back to Malfeas.

...I think we may want to try and summon Ligier before the wedding

How many of these will survive?

How many of these will get laid by Maka?

I'll argue this point, Silver Prince is bad, but there are two other Deathlords that are just as bad even if they aren't as crazy.

Mask of Winters took out Thorn with his huge undead monstrosity and for something more personal there's the First and Forsaken Lion who by RAW plans on invading Gem.

That's four Deathlords, when are they other Solars going to start picking up the slack?

You give Amata a see-you kiss and get dressed, leaving her room and heading all the way down to the Manse's focal room.

The first room you had Valeriana design and build, an armored, reinforced bunker set deep underground, where all the Essence flows of the Manse are channeled, collected and redirected.

It's a vast, vaulted room, walls lined with light-shedding crystals, and filled with the buzz of forced ventilation and the barely-contained hum of power.

Here, you suddenly realize, you feel a sense of peace - no, not quite: a sense of PURPOSE. It's like you feel Creation itself subtly rearranging itself, its Essence, its very nature, to make you feel at ease.

The focal room is perfectly circular, around 50 meters in diameter, and, apart for eight arches supporting the roof's weight, utterly empty. Your steps echo loudly in here, as do the noise and voices of the few work crews still here, placing the very last bricks and smoothing the very last corners. No demons of undead working here, and that doesn't surprise you in the least: only humans are placing the last touches here.

You can see one of them, directing some of them with wise gestures: Valeriana, standing close to the center of the room.

You look up: there's a perfectly circular hole in the middle of the roof. Looking better, you see it's not really a hole, but rather a giant cylindrical block of pure, perfectly transparent glass.

Stepping closer and closer, you can see that it's just the final part of a tunnel drilled through your entire manse, going all the way up to the roof. You can see the blue sky beyond.

Exactly below it, a last, circular brick is missing from the pavement, about a palm thick and about ten meters across. Valeriana is standing there.

(cont.)
>>
You walk up to her. "The sun will shine straight down through that well above us at noon?" You're genuinely impressed by the design, and you weren't sure Valeriana could do much more to impress you.

"Yes, that's why I needed you here." She says, while still gesturing around to direct the work crews. "That's when you'll have to sanctify the Manse. That will close the Essence flows and complete the construction."

"Still a bit missing?" You wonder, looking at the bare pavement under your feet.

"Tia's carrying it. Should be here at any time. So, we didn't have time to stop and think about it up to now, but, what are you calling it?"

"The Manse?" You wonder.

"Yes, I thought Pearl was going to be the name of the city. Calling the Manse with the same name is just confusing. You got some good name?"

>Yes. (name?)
>No, Any suggestions?
>I don't ming them both being called Pearl, you know.

You think about it for a moment.

"...Sine the city is Pearl, how about Necklace."

Valeriana stares at you.

You make your best "get it?" face you can muster.

She frowns. "...I don't get it."

You wiggle your eyebrows expressively.

"...Okay, I still don't get it but I'm thinking that it's probably a joke."

You groan. "You're no fun."

"Alright, seriously. Your plans included a tower to be built on top of these first levels, right?"

"Yes, it's long term but I really want to eventually challenge the record for the tallest artificial construction in Creation. Which is currently held by the Penitent in The Lap, I think."

You pause. "...Isn't the Penitent like, five miles tall?"

"It's a long-term goal." She replies, nonchalantly.

"A tower that reaches for the heavens... how about Golden Reach?"

"Golden Reach. I like that." She caresses her chin in thought, and nods. "Oh, here's Tia."

You turn to where she pointed to see your Lunar mate entering the vast underground room, carefully carrying a large circular slab of golden metal. "Maka! Heey!" She waves at you from afar, and her words echo in the focal room.

"BOTH HANDS ON THE SLAB!" Valeriana snaps at her. "Don't get even one SCRATCH on it."

"Calm down, I can carry this with one hand." She says, lifting up the ten meters wide, 10 cm thick sheet of gold in one hand. Which makes Valeriana turn blue.

The walks up to the two of you, as the mortal workers, having finished their work, mostly stand around to look at the final completion of their work. You look at their faces: sweat, pain, tiredness, blood, but, above everything, pride, with a thick side order of "glad it's over."

You can't blame them.

Carefully enough to not incur in the ire of Valeriana, Tiana gently drops down the slab of solid gold into the recess in the floor, where it fits perfectly. And, just like that, you can feel the currents of Essence shifting around, and being so close to being... just perfect.

"Everything's ready." Valeriana looks up through the well above you. "And I'd say noon is less than a hour away."

Definetly as we first spoke to our patron. naked.
With all charms we have for social interactions
Now that I think about it, let's have every solar flare their anima to maximum
>>
Writing new thread one. Thanks for sticking around for so long.
>>
If we go naked, can we paint golden pattern on our body?
>>
>>40199753
>If we go naked, can we paint golden pattern on our body?
Of course. Especially if the patterns evoke Solar caste marks.
>>
Anyone think the Tyrant should be here?
>>
Why don't we do both, go from number one to nude at the moment the sun shines down?
>>
>>40199763
It probably wouldn't be healthy for her.
>>
>>40199753
Well, if we really have to get naked at least we could put some patterns on i guess...
>>
>>40199763
The big question is whether it would be safe for her to be here. When it's activated, the manse will be filled with Holy essence.
>>
>>40199785
That would beat the purpose.
>>
>>40199763
She should... but somehow I fear her burning away from bing close to the embodiement of virtue and awesome
>>
>>40199763
She could honestly die, it's going to be a wave of Solar essence
>>
>>40199675
>Tired of #1 and 2.
How can you be tired of #1? We've literally worn it twice.
>>
>>40199753
>>40199785
That kind of goes against the idea of being naked
>>
>>40199763
I'm sure she'll notice it at least
>>
>>40199763
I genuinely expect it would destroy her for the next year and a day.
>>
>>40199802
We still have outifts used 0 times.
And #01 isn't an original piece, it comes from a video game.
>>
>>40199795
>>40199804
I meant pattern with paint, then she's still naked, right?
>>
>>40199634
Naked. I wanted to post some appropriate imagery, but well it'd be naked
>>
>>40199634

I'd say a #1 or #17. They're the most appropriate attire for the job, I'd say.
>>
>>40199763
She'd probably die.
>>
>>40199826
>>40199785
>>40199753
Absolutely not. The idea isn't to be sexy. The idea's to have nothing between our skin and the sunlight. Paint is clothing for that purpose, even if it isn't for modesty's sake.

This is an actual religious choice, not a merely lewd one.
>>
>>40199826
Nope. Thats not naked. And could even get philosophical and say it represents falsehood, shame, and other bullshit.
>>
>>40199826
>storing the material for paint in Elsewhere and get a different pattern for prayer every time
FUND IT
>>
>>40199842
>The idea's to have nothing between our skin and the sunlight. Paint is clothing for that purpose, even if it isn't for modesty's sake.
Ah. Yeah, that makes sense. No jewelry then, either. And ideally no makeup. Right?
>>
>>40199864
>Maka
>Make up
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAA
>>
>>40199864
>Right?
Right.
>>
>>40199842
>>40199843
Allright then, i suppose that's reasonable.
>>
>>40199824
>And #01 isn't an original piece, it comes from a video game.
Explain to me how this matter at all.
>>
>>40199864
Pfft, Maka doesn't wear make up. That's for caked up Dragonblooded whores; Maka's all natural
>>
>>40199884
>>40199902
I was more mentioning in case other exalts or mortals wanted to follow suit with her dress code.
>>
>>40199912
Ah, okay.
>>
>>40199896
It matters because I see it more often than the quest runs and got tired of it.
>>
>>40199939
Well I don't. I've never played any of the Souls games so that's entirely your problem.
Also I'm against Maka being naked during a religious ceremony, even if it's for religious reasons, because her reputation is sure to make people intepretet it sexually.
>>
>>40199902

I wonder if Maka ever roleplay as a caked up Dragonblooded whore
>>
>>40199997
Yes, that is why I said I am tired of it, not you are tired of it.
>>
>>40199997

Social 5

Maka could change her reputation in a day, if she wanted to.

I think they'll get the message
>>
>>40200007
Sure she does. When it's Tia's turn to be the foul Anathema.
>>
>>40199997
Maka's a Zenith Solar Exalted, if she wanted to convince a crowd that her intent of going nude was for religious purposes, then she could convince a crowd.
>>
>>40199997
>make people intepretet it sexually.
What's wrong with that? Maka will just have to make sure they interpreted it right.
>>
Aww I missed the chance to name it unconquered glory because food.
>>
>>40199634

Alright, let's go naked
>>
>>40200047
>Aww I missed the chance to name it unconquered glory because food.
God damn it, anon! That would have been the perfect name, too!
>>
>>40199884
>>40199902
Make up is more than just hiding blemishes you know.

It's like saying don't style your hair because it's fine the way it is or to never change clothes because you always look good, there are contextual applications and can be used to accentuate features and well as hide flaws.
>>
>>40200058
Sorry, family kept bugging me as I was catching up.
>>
>>40200094
New thread.
>>
>>40200088
>it's fine the way it is
That, strangely enough, is what I say most people in regards to make up.
>>
>>40200088
>It's like saying don't style your hair because it's fine the way it is or to never change clothes because you always look good

But we're saying that because it's true. Maka doesn't need to do anything to accentuate her beauty because her powers literally make her symmetrically perfect to the eyes of many
