Bit by bit, everyone arrives.

The vast underground vault is large enough to contain, if a bit tightly perhaps, the entire current human population of Pearl, which is almost entirely workers at the Manse, or soldiers, including conscripts and militiamen, sellswords, sailors and pirates, troops from Tianna, and the Steelshard mercenaries.

All together, they form one impressively motley crew. You see them cheering and talking loudly with each other, filling the focal chamber with an impressive noise. Some are snacking, most of them brought that bottle they kept in store for a special occasion (or just any bottle maybe). You can hear several of them chanting your or your fellow Exalted's names, though not in any organized fashion.

Their good cheer, and the feeling that a great ordeal is behind you, and your chance to triumph in the upcoming battle have increased, are infectious: Mikahil is grinning like a madman, while Valeriana is just obviously proud, to the point of smugness, of her new Manse, adjusting her glasses and muttering something like "they said it couldn't be done" under her breath. Radiant Starfall is waving back and blowing kisses at the crowd like an idol singer on-stage, and the kisses she blows become actual glowing golden heart shapes flying through the air. You managed to even get Karas here, his wounds mostly healed, though he still has bandages here and there, needs to support himself with a crutch, and seems extremely tired and light-headed.

Everyone else is there, too. Some people you've known for just a few days, others that you feel you've shared an entire lifetime with.

Well, you're not entirely wrong, you think, reflexively grasping the hands of Tia at your right and Amata at your left. Exaltation is a new life. One which you've been gifted, instead of dying on the streets of Tianna under the hull of the Dark Omen. And one where you still have much to do, and much to accomplish.

Pyre Spark, a brilliant light in her eyes, turns to you and nods. "It's time." She says, a large, excited grin painted all over he face.

Sensing the light of the noon sun approaching, the golden disc detaches from the floor and levitates, floating up in the air by about two meters, with nothing to sustain it save a golden vortex of Essence, filling the room with light.

With a focused thought, you let your clothes disappear Elsewhere, and gently leap up onto the platform. A cheer rises from the crowd like a roar, and slowly dies down over the next minute.

Knowing, or perhaps just guessing, that something special is going to happen, the focal room slowly drops into utter silence. A pin-drop could be heard anywhere in the vault.

>Dance and sing. (details?)
The song and dance are prayer, and they're not just to praise the Unconquered Sun, but to celebrate life in all its forms. This should be the sort of thing that lights a fire in your veins, sends people stamping their feet to a primal beat, and chanting and calling out wordlessly as they move their bodies in praise.

This is a moment of celebrating life in order to celebrate the Unconquered Sun, praise of him and the gifts that he's given us all.

That's the tone, the note, that we want to start Pearl on.

>>Dance and sing.

We should find a way to express exactly what the Unconquered Sun means to us, with a song that everyone can sing with us if they want to.

Anyone has clear ideas?

I say the dance should have a lot of arm movements toward the sun, and that we should make stops where we arch our back to bask in the glory of the Sun, before continuing.

>Raise a prayer to the Unconquered Sun, and ask everyone to join you.
Let's start them on a song praising the Unconquered Sun and asking for guidance and presence, and then start dancing to that rhythm.

Lots of bouncing and jiggling, probably.

>We should be flaring, we don't need to spend charms but I want to be shining gold.
This too. Go full iconic if we can. Hopefully the other exalts follow suit as well. Radiant Starfall might even be able to provide some music and a light show with hers.

>Now she has two whole points in Temperance!
To be fair, she's never really had problems with non-sexual temptation.
I don't normally use the drawback system, but Maka having Vice (sex) makes a lot more sense than her having low temperance.
>>
>>40200145
>>Raise a prayer to the Unconquered Sun, and ask everyone to join you. (Highlight that the sun shines on all peoples, all forms of life, from mortals, to gods, and to the Exalted. With Him, he brings life, and it's life he gave for which we celebrate)

To be fair, it's not like sex ever hinder her in any way.

Temperance isn't just about resisting temptation, it's also about resisting impulsiveness. Whether you're screwing all day, rushing into conflicts without thinking about it first, or whatever, Temperance represents the ability to exert self control and patience.

Maka's not amazing when it comes to Temperance, but better than some - like Karas - with the exception of her personal favorite vice.
>>
>>40200509
She'd end up screwing the people mid-rescue because they were screaming too much and she needed to knock them out.

STOP KILLING THE MOOT
>>
You take one single step on the golden platform, and even that subtle noise echoes far and wide.

Everyone turns their attention to you, as you let your Anima increase in power and light, until it blazes in full iconic splendor, as your crest radiates heatless light to the farthest corners of the room.

"This Manse, I dedicate to the Unconquered Sun. The Highest of the High, Holiest of the Holies." You look up through the well of light, and feel the disc of the sun beginning to approach it.

"I know You have turned Your true face away from Creation. I know we have disappointed You, in the past. But I did not erect this Manse to please You, or to make up for the past mistakes of my previous brothers and sisters."

"This Manse was erected as a bastion against the darkness of this Age. As a place of safety and hope for mankind. As a refuge for life, and for happiness, and as a gem that will reflect its splendor far into the corners of Creation."

"And I merely ask that you give to this endeavor Your blessing, if it pleases You. I'm not in the position of asking for anything beyond that."

"You told me that what You care about are deeds above words. That a prayer and a wish aren't worth as much as a brick laid, a hand shaken, an obol given, or a sword drawn."

"You told me I should be a good queen. That I should rule with kindness, humility, wisdom and courage."

"I tried. I did my best. I'll keep doing my best from now on, so... please watch over me. Please watch over us. Look at what we will do. Look at what we will build, at what we will accomplish."

"Because I think it will make You happy."

"Because You deserve to be happy as much as anyone else."

"And when I first heard Your voice..."

".,..It was filled with so much sadness."

In that moment, the sun reaches its zenith, and the disc of light flashes all the way down into the well and floods you with light.

You remember dancing. And singing. You remember light, and smiles, and cheers. You don't remember the words clearly, though you recall that they were about love.

About love, and leaving sadness behind. And the end of loneliness.

When you suddenly come back to yourself, the sun is long gone from the fragment of sky above the well. Your internal clock tells you one full hour has passed, but you feel utterly exhausted. Your feet tracing the last steps of a dance you don't clearly remember, you almost trip and fall.

Your muscles hurt hideously, and you are drenched in sweat. You fall sitting down, on the golden disc, as it slowly floats back down to ground level, no longer sustained by your Anima.

In a daze, you look around. Everyone is still there, sitting all around you, some standing, in stunned silence, from the mortals to your fellow Exalted. All eyes are fixed on you.

Bit by bit, in the silence you just left behind yourself, the people slowly begin to leave, one by one. You can hear some of them humming your song to themselves. A few still seem quite shocked, or moved to some emotion you can't quite read on their face.

You feel yourself being lifted up, but it takes a few seconds for your overwhelmed perception to realize that Tia is cradling you in her arms. Her smile is simultaneous proud and worried.

"... Are you alright?" She asks.

You glance up through the well to the sky beyond. "...Yes."

"That song was... incredible." Amata mumbles, with a similar expression on her face. "Where... where did you learn it?"

You slowly shake your head and close your eyes.

It's Heaven completely losing its shit following the Titan being reactivated, Chejop Kejak destroying his office in fits of fury, and a buddy cop duo of a rookie Sidereal and an experienced-but-lazy god having to explain to the commissioner why they fucked up.

We can claim conditional XP, right? XP that can only be spent towards certain things? Because I want to preemptively commit the XP from this story towards the eventual purchase of Ghost-Eating Technique, to motivate people to actually make sure we get it instead of getting distracted and forgetting about it. Make it cheaper, more attractive, and have it get mentioned in every XP post so that people never forget we're working towards it.

Does that work?

That's on the way but to get GET we need twilight 4. I think the general plan is to sort out this situation with the prince and then do some wheeling and dealing with Mikahil and a dramatic rescue of our parents from the Usurper in Gem.

I'm aware. But from now until we actually do get GET, I want 1 xp dedicated to it that everyone can see at the end of every thread, to remind them that it's still on our priority list. Otherwise we just straight up will forget that we were saving up in that direction.

It's 1 xp - it shouldn't make or break most of our plans - it's just a little reminder and a tiny discount for the future.

Obviously. The women in Maka's family are all busty, brown-skinned, pale-haired sluts, while the men are all traps. Violence and sex run liberally on both sides. They're Southern, and they embody the fiery, passionate stereotype.

This might not be perfectly on topic, but I was wondering what Mikahil's economic doctrine is. Considering we're leaving that aspect up to him...
Capitalist? Socialist? Libertarian? Something weird but that makes sense in-setting?
>>
>>40204509
Dominionist via economic power.
>>
>>40204509
>Something weird but that makes sense in-setting?
Probably this one. In a setting with Exalted economists and divine actors, we have to assume he's a little unusual.

>Capitalist?
Almost certainly not this. There are tons of free market doctrines that could work, but proper capitalism struggles to exist in a setting with pre-industrial infrastructure, because its core concepts are so irrelevant.

What we do know, though, is that he tends towards currency manipulation, has a strong eye towards return on investment, and seems to have more of an eye towards the profits and success/failure of he and his partners, rather than his underlings.

Compared to how much Maka tends to focus on a relationship of mutual aid, protection, and benefit between she and her people, Mikahil tends to see followers more as resources to be exploited and maintained as necessary.

So, draw what conclusions you want to from all of that.

Small error, but if I'm reading it right Chejop shouldn't know who Maka is since they hadn't named her yet and the announcement didn't mention Tianna at all.

Yeah, I try to use original art, but it turns out one of my favourite artists for character portraits actually drew them as humanizations of weird new pokemons and i only realized when people in the threads pointed this out for me. In my defense, I stopped at the original 151 so i'm not really up to date.
This will not stop me from using his drawings again for future characters because I like his (or her, idk) style too much.

>>40204699
Actually, based on what Mikahil told you, he plans on tearing down an entire direction's economy and rebuilding from the ground up, with the intention of replacing it with a planned system designed to be more fair and supportive of the population at large, especially with an eye towards ethics and support of the ones most in need.
As much as modern-world economic doctrines make sense in an Exalted context (they don't), Mikahil is somewhat closer to a really weird supporter of Magical Socialism with a tinge of Enlightened Despotism.
>>
>>40206405
Maka has a good education and travel experience... A less world-wise Gemer (Gemin? Gemperson? Whatever) would have probably mistaken her, and everyone as pale as her, for ghosts. Some random thought:
Rereading the very first threads, i remembered that, when Fleurdelis and Phoenix first attacked Tianna, a decent minority of the players wanted to side with them because they wanted Maka to be on the winning team.

Man, that would have been really different from how the Quest eventually turned out.

Though, technically, we did side with Feurdelis in the end.

>Hey, can we have a clothes vote since it's downtime now? Despite the Disney level princess upbringing, the lack of clothes that go full Disney is disappointing,

I don't know, it's not been THAT long since you re-did your wardrobe. I'd rather keep that for the next real in-game downtime we have.

Speaking of which. Once such a downtime happens, I was thinking of saying something like "end of season 1, start of season 2" and doing another set of recap threads, but more geared towards getting new players into Exalted and explaining stuff from square one, like "what's an Exalted?"

Do you think it's a good idea, or do you think it's dumb? I originally meant this thread as a very entry-level thing that even total newbies could follow and get, but now we're so deep in that i'm worried that we lost that touch. Also 80 threads of backlog scare people.
>>
>>40212852

Pretty impressive picture.

I think it would fit Amata better, though.
>>
>>40212890
Nah, recap threads are really nice for newbies. When you got a quest running for 50+ threads, it gets a little bit burndenful to ask a newbie to read them all before he participates.
>>
>>40212890

Nah, it's pretty fine as it is, now.

>I hang out in suptg's IRC channels.
Why on earth would you hang out there? Entirely unconnected to quests and still just as many spies as all the other channels except filled with a special brand of anti-quest elitists.
>>
>>40212729
>"Mommy, what does the people outside of Gem look like?"
>"They're pretty sexy, my little desert bee. I remember that one time, with a dragon-blooded queen in the West..."
Yeah, my head canon is definitely that Maka's mom is also sexy and polyamorous, and that the entire reason they took that vacation all the way to Tianna all those years ago was because Maka's mom was screwing Amata back in the day.
>>
>>40213313
I've been there since long before I ever started a quest, and received vastly more support, help and suggestions for my quest there than I ever did in the actual IRC channels which are supposedly meant for quest-masters and players. And, unlike the other "quest-related" channels, I never had to deal with people actively trying to sabotage my threads and my relationship with my players, so, as far as I'm concerned, yes, compared to the other channels, suptg is a vastly better place to hang around.
>>
>>40213332
There was probably some political stuff going on as well, the Queen of the richest city in the world doesn't travel all across Creation to fug, especially since we know Tianna was in financial trouble for a while when Sammy was younger. Makes sense that they were in trouble before and Gem lent them a hand.
>>
>>40213367
Yeah, that makes sense. Maka's mom went and gave Amata some sugar, in more ways than one.
>>
>>40213362
Thats kind of at odds with how they've acted against quests in the past where they tried to raid quest threads and get them removed from the archives, must be they've simmered down since I had to get LL on their case about not being faggots.

In the past meaning as recent as two months ago, but that discussion and your bait are neither appropriate in EF's threads so I'll leave this chain here to die.
>>
>>40213379
They had an aggressive anti-questing phase just about around when /tg/ also had it, but as far as I can tell the raiding wasn't really anything organized, just a few dudes with time to waste. It's a server with ~150 people in it, you're going to find all sorts of people, from quest-masters and quest-players to people who actively despise them.

AFAIK LL not only restored the votes on the quest threads they targeted on the archives but increased the votes by a few extra points just to spite them, and then I guess they just kinda lost interest and found something else to be mad about somewhere else.

>>40213423
>two months ago
Not that I know of.
>>
>>40213446
I had it happen to my quest 2 months ago and thankfully LL had the archive files backed up to be reuploaded after they spammed them with downvotes and got them auto deleted thankfully that function was removed after he was notified, they are still around though they've been dispersed somewhat thankfully.
>>
>>40213471

I think Maka should have her own brand of sugar/caramel.
>>
>>40213507
I wholeheartedly agree.

Though do you think someone in her circle will come up with it or will a citizen of Pearl create it?

I'm interested in seeing what kind of merchandising, both licensed and boot-legged will appear in Pearl and the rest of Tianna and how it will be seen in the rest of Creation, maybe even being smuggled into certain placed.
>>
>>40213507
Why?

Like where did this even come from?
>>
>>40213538
Speaking of merchandise, Pearl needs an official seal, something to stamp on exported goods to show people where it came from and that it's a legit product. Obviously it has to have Maka on it.
>>
>>40213550

Does anyone have the Tianna map? Is like a reminder of which demesnes we own. I know that the next manse we're constructing is a water temple on the island offshore from Pearl, and that it'll be our first 'personal use' manse in that we're getting a hearthstone and not devoting 100% of its essence to municipal utilities. But what else do we have on our plate?
>>
>>40213777
Let me post an updated version. And remind you that it's still full of stuff to name! give me ten minutes.
>>
>>40213777
Along with the two we have, we found five others, three went to the Lunars and two to went to Amata, one of the Lunar ones will probably go to Tia and the ones that went to Amata are technically ours too since we're married/engaged.
>>
>>40213821
Okay, so we're really only getting the water temple as our personal manse - I say personal because it honors Flow, but we get to reap its rewards. What's the plan there? First things first, I think we should seriously consider loaning its hearthstone to Irene for tech powering purposes whenever we don't absolutely need it.

On top if that, what kind of peace-time activities do we want to do in the Manse? Remember, it'll give us increased mote respiration while in it, so long-term, mote-expensive things are best done in personal manses. Crafting, diplomancy, sorcery, and other things that would benefit logistically from an increased respiration rate like that.
>>
>>40213856
We should visit Flow and see if she can help out against the prince
>>
>>40213856
The manse was supposed to literally be a fuck temple for Flow (and Maka as an extension), it's kinda why the elementals asked for the demesne.
I think we could callthat the Necklace as well.
>>
>>40213856
The water temple is going to be probably a resort style temple, we talked about it when we told the water court to stop drowning people, instead they get to fuck them. So the Water manse will be a hot spring/resort temple to facilitate that.

We probably won't spend a lot of time there since we have Pearl, a stronger Solar manse close by, so we'll really only be getting the Hearthstone out of it.
>>
>>40213876
It's designed as a temple, yes, in the same way that Pearl has a temple to the sun. We didn't agree to give Flow the manse as a gift, just construct it in their honor.

So, I'm thinking big, open air, and designed in such a way that grooves in the floor fill with water at high tide. A large open courtyard in the middle where whatever we need can be set up - like training grounds, or a diplomatic table, or whatever - surrounded by archways with dozens of small shrines to the elemental court.

Maybe a large reflecting pool or fountain connected directly to the sea that Flow could flow into somewhere too?
>>
>>40213912
Pearl doesn't give any boosted respiration, we devoted 100% of that to the city itself. We'll want to spend time in Flow's temple whenever we're spending lots of essence over the course of several scenes.

I love the idea if an onsen, though.
>>
>>40213915
I like the idea of the temple design working with the tides but I'd have it be more focused on relaxation. Think Roman bath house only because of the tide the water gets changed every day multiple times. That would act as a fantastic resort for everybody on Tianna.
>>
>>40213915
>like training grounds, or a diplomatic table, or whatever
These things are better left in Pearl. The water manse should be full of leisure activities or services related to leisure.
>>
>>40213915
I'm getting a 'temple at the start of Bioshock Infinite' when you start taking about temple floors covered in water. I think we should try to embrace an aesthetic like that if we can.
>>
>>40213937
We devoted all the power to a powerful manse, that means boosted respiration, bonus dice, feel good feelings for a Solar as long as were in there. The only thing we aren't getting from Pearl is a Hearthstone.
>>
Water Manse (let's call it Onsen for now), could be used as base of operations for seafare. And, of course, it's a sex spa thanks to Flow.
>>
>>40213949
What? No. Pearl gives us exactly zero bonus when it comes to mote regen. Doing expensive things is something we need the temple for. All of Pearl's power is going towards the city itself.

>>40213960
No, we devoted all the power to the utilities. No hearthstone, no respiration. It all goes towards lighting, keeping the streets clean, public transit, defense systems, and utilities. Pearl is going to be an amazing super-city, but it provides us zero benefit as a normal manse.
>>
>>40213959
Maybe for various side chambers in this manse resort.

Or we have that water carpet like Bioshock Infinite be the entrance to the manse with actual solid floor at places where people can store belongings, eat or drink, or just relax and chit chat.

Around the central areas where people can do those things we'd have the tide pools where people end up meeting Flow and the rest of the local water court.
>>
>>40213991
I want water carpet anywhere that Flow is supposed to be able to easily and directly access. It's the equivalent of a red carpet rolled out for water spirits; it lets them rise up from it directly instead of having to roll into where they're going across dry ground. Dry ground should be limited to areas designed around mortal hospitality instead.
>>
>>40214003
That's what I meant, but as an option for the water spirits we could incorporate miniature channels through the public spaces so they can also partake.
>>
>>40214011
For sure. We could have fountains and basins for that too. I imagine every public shrine - of which there would probably be dozens or hundreds in this manse - would feature a small basin and constantly trickling fountain, connected directly to the sea.
>>
How fast are we going to build the water manse? Use what we hve from pearl?
>>
>>40214020
Much slower than we built Pearl. Once we're back in peace time, we're going to be spending months expanding, finishing, and furnishing Pearl. We built the core features, but nothing else so far. We're going to be making apartment buildings, train stations, expanding the tower, and more. Somewhere, in all of that, we'll also start laying the foundations for the water-carpeted, onsen-featuring, shrine-covered temple-resort.
>>
>>40214018
Well pretty much all the water but drinking water will be provided by the sea. I'd avoid having too many fountains though. Get a garden with a dozen water features in every room and shit gets a little ridiculous looking.

The manse would probably not need many shrines since the whole thing is basically one big temple to the water court. One option is to have the main shrine where people pay homage to the water court be the entrance to the manse itself. That way they get their prayers no matter what and we can save floor space for bigger pools, better public spaces etc.

Here you go. I marked the locations of all known manses and demesnes based on the intel Amata and the Lunars can provide to you.

For the manses already built, assume they're used to power Tianna's weapons and artifacts, or are being used by Zaan and Talon for those in Lunar territory.
>>
>>40214049
We can also have the onsen itself be the main shrine. Frame relaxing in it as meditation and screwing in it as worship.
>>
>>40214054
Man that's a lot of demesnes, hey is the whole map on top of the Titan or is it just the main island?
>>
>>40214068
Well I'd imagine some people would prefer privacy for their dirty business so I'd have the fucking have separate areas so people might have their privacy.
>>
>>40214054
And all the ones on Pine Isle, Sky Isle, and so forth are spoken for by one faction or another? Who owns the wood, fire, and water ones right by Pearl?
>>
>>40214093
The one-dot water is one of the ones we gave to the Lunars and the Fire and Wood are the ones that went to Amata.
>>
>>40214081
Clearly you've never heard of Roman bathhouses. Fucking won't be mandatory, but it will definitely happen, especially since half the point of this place is hooking Flow up with lovers.
>>
>>40214074
From what you heard, the Titan was not quite as big as the entire island. Probably half the size of the main island or less. Which is why the whole island would fall apart if it took off, instead of just sticking to the roof.

>>40214093
>>40214103
The demesnes on the secondary islands were scouted by Amata's prospectors years ago, but at the time Tianna didn't quite have the resources to cap them with Manses.

At this point, though, speaking of "ownership" is a bit moot, since you're sharing resources.
>>
>>40214103

>>
>>40214107

It's not really a problem to have a few separate areas for those people.
>>
>>40214115
Have we heard what powers were goign to get from Golden Reach yet?
>>
>>40214121
No, they belong to Tianna. They'll be used for things like public hearthstones and military installations. Just because we're marrying in doesn't mean we get personal ownership.
>>
>>40214141
We get a bonus to rolls if we're in the manse.

That's about it.

We put every bit of power the manse had into the city itself. We only get that bonus because it's a Solar aspected manse iirc.
>>
>>40214141
Nothing. 100% of its essence is going to public works. It doesn't benefit us personally in the slightest, it's all for our organization.

Still, given enough time I'm sure Val and company will think of something.
>>
>>40214144
This. Amata shows a clear distinction between public property of her nation and personal property of herself. She controls it all, but doesn't necessarily get to keep it all for personal use. Remind me, what does the water island demesne look like? Is that the one that's the perfectly round lake of slowly flowing water?
>>
>>40214234
No, that was how Pearl was before you started working on it and got Valeriana to shift its aspect from Water to Solar. You still haven't visited that one.
>>
>>40214185
>>40214144
To be honest here... I never really thought of anything but powering defense and enhancing our cities to near first age commodities... or at least early shogunate era

Pearl's going to have that in its own right. That's the whole idea behind founding a city on a manse. It's like founding a city on a massive geothermal vent or whatever.
>>
>>40214054
What is that, like 16 demesnes?

I wonder how many Val could work on at once
>>
You know what I just noticed?
We promised Flame to make her fly again.
If we repair our titan, the demesne will stop working, if we don't find a way to dump pearl on a new five dot solar demesne...
>>
>>40214360
I'm sure Val and Flame can work together to incorporate Pearl into the Titan so it all works.

We're never giving up Pearl and we are going to keep out promise to Flame.
>>
>>40214360
Chill. That's a long-term promise that requires a long-term solution.
>>
I think promising Flame she'll fly again was a mistake.

We did say to the Tyrant that we didn't trust anyone having that kind of power, and certainly not ourselves
>>
>>40214253
Golden Reach will produce a level 0 hearthstone (i.e. a pretty but useless rock, purely symbolic). all of its Essence goes into facilities and into the ability to provide power and comforts to the future city.

I don't follow the manse construction system in Oadenol's Codex verbatim, but, using it as a rough guideline, i'd say Golden Reach and, therefore, Pearl would have:

ATTUNEMENT RECOGNITION - The Manse recognizes individuals attuned to it and hearthstone bearers
BASIC SENSES - The Manse has the ability to sense its surroundings.
COSMETIC DISPLAYS - The Manse and the city will have the ability to manifest purely aesthetic displays of Essence - fountains of light and such.
COMFORT ZONE - Environment in the area is regulated so that people never suffer extremes of weather or temperature.
MAGICAL CONVENIENCES - The Manse and city enjoy several minor magical benefits, such as artificial illumination, doors opening and closing on their own, a PA system, and several automations to, for example, quickly move people or cargo from one location to another and so on.
FORTRESS + ARMORED - The Manse is strengthened and designed to withstand powerful attacks and prolonged sieges.
WYLD CONTAINMENT - The Manse has a specific room designed to contain safely a Wyld Zone to offer a refuge for Fair Folk, despite its geomancy being otherwise naturally hostile to that sort of creature.
WORKSHOP-MANSE - The manse is designed to be an efficient and technomagically superior workshop and factory. It has all the facilities to allow artisans to produce wonders the current Age has yet to see, second only to the legendary Factory-Cathedrals of old.
ZONE OF INFLUENCE - This is the power that allows the Manse to project its effects to the city beyond.
TEMPLE-MANSE - The Manse is holy to the Unconquered Sun, build as much as a prayer of brick and stone as as a mere construction.
SENTIENT - The Manse has an AI, or rather, as of now, the ability to contain one but no active AI yet.
>>
>>40214431
... then how about sharing it in a way noone has al of it?

>>40214394
Which doesn't mean we don't need to find solutions now. I won't wait till our problems reach critical mass.

>>40214380
Wholeheartedly agree.
>>
>>40214285
Huh. I have no idea. must've been some misclick or weird Hexographer quirk. Ignore those.

>>40214360
From what you know of geomancy, it's very likely that taking off will interrupt all of the geomantic essence flows and cut off power from all manses and demesnes until you re-land in the same spot.
Of course, that is unless you find some way around it. There might be some. You're Exalted, after all.
>>
>>40214484
>... then how about sharing it in a way noone has al of it?
Since control of the island is currently split between Maka, Amata, and Tia, how about making it so that at least 2 of the 3, or their successors, have to agree for the titan to do something.
>>
>>40214479
>COSMETIC DISPLAYS - The Manse and the city will have the ability to manifest purely aesthetic displays of Essence - fountains of light and such.
Neon lights and shit.

>MAGICAL CONVENIENCES - The Manse and city enjoy several minor magical benefits, such as artificial illumination, doors opening and closing on their own, a PA system, and several automations to, for example, quickly move people or cargo from one location to another and so on.
Street lights and public trains, rad, and a great way to be able to make sure the city gets fed, even with a huge population.

>COMFORT ZONE - Environment in the area is regulated so that people never suffer extremes of weather or temperature.
And super comfortable even to non-Solar-Exalted.

>ZONE OF INFLUENCE - This is the power that allows the Manse to project its effects to the city beyond.
And this will hopefully let our trains run out across the country side to the other manses/demesnes/cities.

Should be rad.

We don't have to be that crazy if it's going to be Pearl, HtH only works once a month, we can make the occasional appearance or speech to hit everyone. Even then it's not like we need to hit them constantly with it to make them like us, they already love us.

Will we have ways for people to access the 'power grid?' Like, say, if you make a zenith-style disk of gold it will glow like a lightbulb, a night mark will grow hot enough to cook food, and so forth, as long as you're within Pearl's region of power? I know we're going to have public utilities, I just want to make sure that mortals will have ways to access them without an exalted crafter holding their hands the entire way.
>>
We'll have to build public schools and hospitals in record rate after we dealt with the silver princes attack on the titan

We don't want immigration to outstrip the food supply. Hopefully we can turn that wood manse into a vertical gardening mega-farm. That would be absurdly beneficial to the entire nation, including Tianna, Pearl, and our local Lunar Dominion. Just non-stop super agriculture fueled by mainlining the pure magical energy of life.

We can start actively courting mass immigration AFTER we get that food supply sorted.
>>
>>40218745
Good point, but what about the water demesne? can't we use it for a similar purpose? after all getting nutrients out of the water is far easier on average
>>
>>40219332
1. The two-dot water demesne is already being allocated as a temple and a source of power for Maka. We don't want to split purposes on that; it'll just lead to it being broadened into a bunch of crappy utilities because it doesn't have enough power for all of them. We should use the municipal, nationally-owned Wood demesne, not the private Water one which is supposed to fuel Maka's essence pools.
2. The one-dot water demesne belongs to the Lunars, and is less ideal than the two-dot wood demesne anyway.
3. Water doesn't have connotations of Life in Exalted. Wood is the element of growth, health, life, and agriculture; remember, this is about magical essence, not climates and geography. Water's pretty good for changing, meditation, enlightenment, creativity, and the flow of magic. But Wood is what you want for healing, agriculture, and healthy growth.

So, yeah, Wood is not only the best choice regardless, neither of the Water ones are even really options in the first place.

So, what should our mega farming complex look like? My first instinct is a tower of spiraling terraces, gardens overflowing with trickling water and dense foliage, scenic enough to be used as a park despite its primary function as an agricultural mega-center. Maybe embrace the Solar 'pillar of skylight' design to allow sunlight to be magically reflected down through the middle of it, letting the tower grow to truly impressive heights without worrying about lack of sun.

Thoughts?
>>
>>40217869
That will depend with how fast Valeriana can build the tower's higher floors.
>>40218541
Discussion can't continue if no one sees the new posts.
>>40218745
Aren't we going to have gardens on some of Pearl's floors?
>>
>>40219573
>Aren't we going to have gardens on some of Pearl's floors?
Not like, food gardens, it's going to have pretty gardens meant to be looked at. And I guess some for exotic plants and shit for crafting.
>>
>>40219552
We should do it Hanging Garden style, if we don't use the style in Pearl.
>>
>>40219552
You know, I WAS thinking about doing the very same thing we were doing with the Golden Reach and Pearl
Using the wood-aspekted demesne without a hearthstone to get more energy out of it, since essence CAN be vented and transmitted, we could, theoretically channel it in a way in the other manse that makes it more... rich in fish, algae... you know, eadible things.
my thoughts were more along the line of being able to integrate that into it's design
>>
We should create some dryads for the gardens/farms.
>>
>>40219859
The exalted equivalent of dryads isn't exactly nice
>>
>>40219933
Then we make our own, Maka styled Dryads.
>>
>>40219850
It wouldn't work that way. Sea life runs off of Wood essence same as land life. Where the plants and animals are from doesn't change how essence works on them. If you want algae, you get water tanks at a wood demesne.
>>
As long as one of the wood manses is called Morning Glory's, I will agree to anything.
>>
>>40220837
>Vertical farming wood manse
>High-rising Morning Glory
I love it.
>>
Okay, so the plan is for it to be a spiraling, terraced, hanging garden that reaches absurd heights and maintains correct sunlight with mirrors and magic? Have 100% of the Wood Essence directed to growing large, healthy, frequent yields in a park-like agrarian utopia? Produce enough food to feed the entire island of Tianna a hundred times over and still have leftovers for export?

If we did that, we would have secured a food supply sufficient for both a massive immigration drive and a massive baby boom. Both of those are super important for really getting Pearl thriving.
>>
>>40221123
Tianna already has a Wood Manse that yields tons of crop, probably that 2-dot one east of Tianna proper, we'll have to see if either we can do better.
>>
>>40221123
Yeah, sounds like a plan.

>>40221200
Yeah, but this will be entirely dedicated to that sole task, and it'll be overseen by a truly exceptional Solar engineer. We should get something amazing - and we really do need it, if we want to safely fill out Pearl's population. I don't know about you, but I'm hoping Pearl ends up one of those million-person metropoli within a single generation.
>>
>>40221274
>million-person metropoli within a single generation.
Maka is going to need to motivate people a lot for this. I like the idea.
Still, I think you are putting the horses before the cart. Let's focus on Pearl first and then see what we need to do with the other demesnes. We could benefit a lot from functional hearthstones.
>>
>>40221352
Yeah, agreed. We need to survive the upcoming battle, finish Pearl, secure a major food supply, and only then can we worry about things like immigration, Flow's temple, finding a way for the Titan to fly again, and so forth.

Still, it seems like a major time skip is going to be coming after this battle, so it's a good idea to at least have a checklist of things we want done prepared. And 'secure a truly absurd food supply in order to cause a baby boom/immigration flood' is definitely on that checklist, and the wood demesne seems like the best candidate for that.
>>
How long do you guys think the possible time skip will be? I am not sure I want a complete skip without scenes of special events.
>>
>>40222983
Don't we still need to retake Gem before we do the timeskip?
>>
>>40223017
God I hope not. A timeskip is long overdue.
>>
>>40222983
A year or more. The timeskip is supposed to speed through our entire pregnancy at the very least, with only a montage as we speed through it.

>>40223017
Fuck no. That'll be well after the time skip. It's likely more than a year of travel just to get to Gem, and that's not even counting the effort of bringing an army with us.
>>
>>40223017
No means of doing that for quite some time yet. Retaking Gem will be happening after the timeskip, probably. Maka's family might be rescued before, though.

>>40223227
I don't think Karas will accept waiting around on our ass for an extended period of time, he barely accepted us staying to to deal with the Deathlords.
>>
>>40223277
Too fucking bad? It's a year-long journey just to get to Gem, we're pregnant, and we have a city to finish building. We have a solid year of downtime needed just to have our children and have Tianna not collapse the moment we leave, and it'll be another year after that before we even arrive.

"Conquering Gem within the next five years" is actually an extremely fast timetable, if we don't want to permanently ruin Tianna and Pearl in the process.
>>
>>40223227
One of the proposed ship designs for silk is pretty much made for that mission.

>>40223277
There is a difference between retaking Gem and rescuing their family.

The Realm is what it looks like when the Exalted go capitalist. Normally, exploitative colonialism has the key flaw the British discovered: it is really goddamn hard to ride the razor's edge of colonial taxation between "taxed too much, country revolts and the pieces aren't worth picking back up" and "taxed too little, country revolts, has a decent chance of winning, and is probably too expensive to reconquer." In modern times capitalism shies away from straight-up conquest for that reason.

Under the Scarlet Empress, however, there's a corps of savants in the Thousand Scales whose entire job is to make sure every satrapy gets a fifteen-dice Bureacuracy roll thrown at it twice yearly to make sure sure it's riding that razor's edge. And it works.

And as gross and horrifying as the resultant mass poverty and slavery to benefit the Empress is, it ain't shit on when the Solar Deliberative could toss 30 dice at the problem and maybe a couple of charms for good measure.
>>
>>40223978
To be fair, the Deliberative wasn't as interested in building up one area of creation at the expense of the rest of it, if only because the Solars had a bunch of private fiefs that they also wanted to be awesome. There wasn't as much of a geographic "us and them."
>>
>>40223978
That's not capitalism, that's mercantilism.

Capitalism is actually an extremely specific form of free trade which people use entirely wrong in normal conversation. Since we're talking about economic doctrine instead of using conversational English, you should use the terms correctly.
