Recently: You rested off most of your injuries, solved the case of the missing ring, arrived at Faeden, caught Metapod, and started a battle to officially catch Meloetta.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes or always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just three 1d100s. Sometimes you can get a modifier from circumstances, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever!

Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

You prepare to battle Meloetta. She seems to want to be caught just like any of your other Pokemon. In your downtime you’ve learned that catching a Pokemon is as much a ritual as anything else. You guess that’s why Pokemon that are knocked entirely out tend to be less trusting and reliable than ones that are caught the “right” way.

“Alright Devon, come on out!”

You throw out your first and most trained Pokemon, Devon and try to ignore the gathering crowd. It seems that a few people spotted you, and now that you’re fighting a legendary people are coming to check it out.

Meloetta takes a fighting stance. You’ve seen first hand how strong she is when she’s not really trying. You also remember your last fight against a legendary

>Roar, turn the battle into a chase.
>Ember, test her defences from a distance
>Flamethrower, start strong!
>Dark Pulse, go for the super effective move!
>Counter, she’ll probably try Wake-Up Slap
>Bite, rush her with a super effective move
>Thunder Fang, rush her with a chance to paralyze

You flourish dramatically. You might as well, with the camera and Meloetta and everyone else probably wanting a show. “Devon! Sunny Day!”

>94

He springs into action, summoning a harsh, bright light. You still have no idea how that works, but you can’t argue with results. It shines brilliantly, countering the natural overcast! Devon is on his A game today.

The crowd grows.

Meloetta does her own flourish. You can see the light shining in her eye. She does a quick spin and uses Sing!

>81

Devon’s ears twitch. He growls and barks, but slowly loses energy and sinks onto the ground. His eyes close and he rests his head on his paws.

Awww. He looks like a puppy again.

He bares his teeth and snaps suddenly, but then goes back down again. This time he’s staying asleep.

You remember that his ability is Early Bird. He won’t be out long.

The crowd looks a little disappointed. They were expecting an epic battle, but Devon has fallen asleep.

“Well done, Meloetta!” You compliment her. Both because you don’t want to look worried in front of the crowd, and because you’re trying to stall. “But it’s not over yet! Not even close!”

Come on! Wake up, Devon!

Meloetta floats over to him, backwards. She’s waving to the increasingly large crowd. The bright shining sun slowing her down a little.

“Counter!” You say to Devon, hoping it gets through. “Counter, Devon!”

He bares his teeth, but he’s still asleep. Meloetta, who was waving to the crowd, looks a little concerned about her safety and decides to strike now.

SLAP! She hits him hard, knocking him up. She didn’t look like she put a lot of effort into it, but it nearly lifts him off the ground.

And he comes down on her hard, rolling and pulling her into a spin that ends with her being thrown into the ground!

The crowd cheers wildly!

Devon looks seriously hurt. His legs shake then give out for a second. He catches himself and corrects his posture though.

Meloetta looks roughed up as she slowly rises, but nowhere near as bad as Devon. She really is a legendary Pokemon!

“Are you alright?”

Devon growls in affirmation. That’s not really saying much though. He’s probably keep going no matter what. You watch his legs again. He’s unsure of his balance.

Meloetta, who was working the crowd, turns to fight again. Her attitude is different now. She’s taking this seriously. While before she worked the crowd and didn’t pay Devon that much mind, now she’s working the crowd by ready to leap into action and fight.

You get the feeling she doesn’t fight that often though. She’s really strong, but not too disciplined. If you catch her, you could really shape her up.

She squints in the sunlight and prepares to end this.

You can’t let him take another hit.

“Devon, return!” You summon him back. While he did soften her up, he was probably your best match up against Meloetta. The others are going to have an even harder time against her. It's not really fair how strong she is without any apparent training, but you suppose that's why you only very rarely hear about trainers fighting legendary Pokemon in the first place, let alone actually catching one. “You did a great job. I’m proud of you.”

You reach for your next Pokeball. “Go...”

You can feel the camera and crowd watching you. They start to quiet down, adding to the pressure.

But you’re not afraid of crowds. You’re afraid of never being seen. All these eyes on you tell you that you’re alive. You’re someone. People see you and don’t pretend they don’t. You’re not just someone else's problem.

You grab the Pokeball and pose. This isn’t about you today. It’s about Meloetta. She’s strong, but she seems to want to prove she can fight hard too. She wants you to challenge her. To beat her.

You have the perfect Pokemon to stand up to whatever she can dish out.

“Zappy Dan! It’s your turn!” You throw your Pokeball and Dan appears in a flash.

His shiny, metal body reflects the harsh sunlight, making him hard to look at directly.

Meloetta gets more sun in her eyes!

Meloetta spins and unleashes another Sing. Her voice echoes over the crowd and carries to Dan. It washes over his shiny body to no effect.

Dan! “Supersonic!”

Dan counters with a horrible sounding screech. It penetrates through the air and causes the crowd to cover their ears. Even Haunter, who’s floating overhead, backs away to protect his directional microphone.

Meloetta’s song goes way off key and she reels in confusion. She's unfocused and spins around a lot less gracefully.

The crowd cheers for Zappy Dan. He seems like a crowd favorite for some reason. The less he seems to care, the more they seem to like him.

Meloetta manages to work through her confusion and close the distance. She slaps Dan hard, causing him to spin off to the side. His edge digs into the ground, making him do a wide circle around the fighting area. He very nearly spun into the crowd there.

Meloetta shows off to the crowd. To be fair, it was a pretty impressive strike.

But Dan is rolling back around now. He’s going to slam into her from behind.

She leaps into the air gracefully and he zooms underneath her.. She didn’t even look backwards!

The crowd goes nuts! She twirls high up. She reaches her apex just as the sunlight starts to fade down

“THUNDERWAVE!”

>100

Dan comes to a sudden, rigid stop and fires a uniform patterned wave of electricity.

It nails Meloetta! The crowd goes silent as her frozen, paralyzed body begins to fall out of the air.

You throw the expensive, fancy Pokeball at Meloetta, catching her before she hits the ground.

The ball falls to the ground and starts shaking.

Every single person and Pokemon watching holds their breath. Robin holds her hands together, Vance watches with his mouth open. Even Kroustou takes his eyes off the camera to watch with his own eyes.

It wobbles. Then wobbles again. Then wobbles a third time.

Meloetta bursts forth. She yells. Not in anger, but in a sort of primal, fighting spirit way. Seeing the passion in her eyes makes you want to fight just as hard. You feel a connection.

An Ultraball flies in from the crowd. No!

>3

It stops in mid air. Meloetta casually glances at it, then it explodes into splinters.

The crowd boos the person who threw it. They crowd around him. Well, at least that will stop him from trying again.

Meloetta faces Dan again, and rushes towards him. She has an entirely different aura now. She’s totally committed to fighting. You take note that her parallelization is in effect, so you might get lucky.

Meloetta rushes at Dan! She uses what looks Close Combat! There’s no flourish and showing off, just a strong attempt to fight for all she’s worth.

But the paralyzation is too much. She freeze up at the critical point and slides to the ground in front of Dan.

“Sonic Boom!”

Dan looks down at her and hits her head on. It’s a fair, solid blow that knocks her back a little. While it’s not the strongest move around, she impressive Special Defense is worthless against it.

Meloetta gets back up after wiping the dirt off her face. It’s weird to see her looking anything less than spotless and graceful.

You’re becoming a lot less concerned about overdoing it, and more worried that her taking the fight seriously is going to end badly for Dan.

“Dan! Mirror Shot! Strong as you can!”

Meloetta rushes at Dan again.

He expertly aims and fires a shiny, metallic beam that she soldiers through and keeps advancing on him. It's perfectly strong attack, but she's powerful and focused enough not to let it stop her. She strikes out using Close Combat. It’s a different kind of graceful than her flowery movements as she pummels Dan down.

He’s got incredible defense, but she doesn’t let up. Her fists and legs just keep coming. She ends it with a strong side kick that pushes him back in your direction.

Dan lands to your feet, knocked out.

Electricity runs down her body, but she stands disciplined and cool looking, waiting for her next foe.

The crowd erupts in a cheer. They seem to just cheer for a good show, and not for you or Meloetta in particular.

She looks pretty worn, but she's still a big threat to anyone she faces. Her defenses and speed are down at least. She starts to lose her concentration and waves a little to the crowd. Her vanity is her biggest weakness.

You reach for your next Pokemon.

Well, from your studies and experience with her, she probably doesn’t have a lot of options to deal with Raistlin. At least, that’s your hope.

“Raistlin! It’s your turn!”

Your powerful Alakazam comes out, fresh and ready. His facial hair makes him look hold and wise.

Meloetta puts on another fighting pose. She’s breathing heavily, sizing him up.

The crowd cheers again, but this time because of your new Pokemon. Meloetta looks just the tiniest bit jealous and her arms drop slightly.

“Raistlin! Keep moving! Teleport and Confusion!”

Raistlin begins teleporting around. Meloetta turns to face him each time, making him teleport again before attacking. He’s psyching her out, getting the best angle.

Finally he manages to get behind her. He pelts her with a Confusion from behind, causing her to stumble forward. She turns around only to find him already gone. He peppers her again from the side. He vanishes again.

This time, she turns around in the general direction he’ll probably be attack from, and screams a horrible, loud, echoing scream. It blows him back, but he avoided the brunt of it. He quickly recovers and teleports back down to the ground.

Meloetta scans over the area and the crowd. They cheered again at Raistlin’s dodging, and it’s throwing her off not being the center of that praise.

“Raistlin! Teleport again. This time use Hidden Power!”

You see the understanding on his face showing that he understands why you didn’t mention the type. It’s not like it’s super-effective, but having a move with a mystery type gives her one more thing to worry about.

Her lowered Special Defense, paralysis, and damage is really starting to show. Meloetta is a powerful Pokemon, but that’s what gives you the biggest advantage; she doesn’t have much experience actually having to try.

Raistlin teleports behind her again, but she moves to attack, predicting where he’ll be. He hits her with Hidden Power Fire. It lands, but it’s not enough to stop her from landing a U-Turn on him, knocking him out of the air and onto his back.

Damn, she zeroed in on that quick. The worst part is, Raistlin looked close to avoiding it, but the timing was just a little off.

The crowd cheers as she manages to and gracefully on her feet. As soon as she completes her landing though, you see her shift her body weight and slump her shoulders. She’s exhausted. If Raislin was using his incredible Special Attack power on any regular Pokemon, they’d have a much harder time standing.

Raistlin very slowly and deliberately pushes himself up. He tries to shake his head and focus, but he’s looking like he’s a strong gust away from falling over. Any hard blow could be serious.

You and Meloetta look over the worked up crowd. If you were battling a normal Pokemon, losing almost three against it would be a humiliating spectacle. But against a legendary like this?Just being given the chance to battle it is impressive.

Meloetta’s hair is frayed. Her balance is wobbly. Her confidence looks a little shot as she’s looking so vulnerable in front of the crowd.

You see someone in the crowd take out a fancy Pokeball, like the one you had! They’re going to throw it! You reach into your pocket for your own Pokeball, but they draw theirs first.

No no no no no!

They pulled it out too fast. The trainer loses her grip and drops it on the ground. The crowd shifts and someone steps on it, crushing it under a heavy boot. She looks like she wants either cry or murder someone.

Meloetta catches your eye. She sees the Pokeball in your hand. Now’s the time, you can feel it.

You throw it. She braces herself to fight it head on. The ball hits her and she vanishes in a flash of light.

The crowd once again falls silent as the ball wiggles. Once.

Twice.

Three times.

Click.

You feel like fainting! You caught Meloetta! The mass of people rush the field. They leap up and down and a huge wave of them press into you. You just see Meloetta’s ball vanish before people step in your view. She’s going to Professor Fir.

And she’s going in a regular Pokeball, just like everyone else on your team. Just like you think she really wanted.

[That’s it for tonight! Congrats on catching Meloetta! We’ll do a nickname vote next thread]

We have to be careful not to favor her over our other pokemon.
>>
>>40254241

>>
>>40254241
You mean both of them?
>>
>>40254254
True, but at the same time, don't want to go too far in the other direction and neglect her.
>>
>>40251549
>An Ultraball flies in from the crowd. No!

The Devil Is a Part-Timer
>>
>>40254578
Hataraku Maou-Sama, or Devil is a Part Timer. It's about a Demon King who gets shunted from Generic Fantasy Realm #167847 into our world and loses most of his power in the process. So he has to work at a McDonalds ripoff like a regular jagoff to survive. There's some conflict from some people following him to kill him or whatever, but mostly you watch it for Chiho. It was actually pretty enjoyable.
Sandwich isn't Soup, capcha. Fuck you.
>>
>>40254611
Are they? I think they might just be really rare in this series. Or maybe it varies on a case by case basis? Like I'm PRETTY sure there are multiple Regirocks.
>>
>>40254648
But what about a soup sandwich?
>>
>>40254710
Nope, confirmed unique.
>>
>>40254160
how famous is obscenely famous? Will we be invited to the next pokeverse Oscars?
>>
>>40254160
As famous as Tobias?
>>
>>40254772
Prime candidate for this regions Tourny.
>>
>>40254772

You singlehandedly captured the living embodiment of muse. On Camera.

That's how famous you are going to be.
>>
It's a shame we're not undefeated.
>>
>>40254861

we only lost once and no one ever has to know about that
>>
>>40254850
Is it the first ever legendary catch on camera?

>>40254871
It'll be in the interviews and we're not gonna lie.
>>
>>40254861
Undefeated can also mean we're a coward who only picks the battles we know we can win.

Having lost, and being able to lose, implies a willingness to fight at a disadvantage should the situation call for it.

>>40254871
Didn't we already says we lost in one of the tv interviews already?
>>
>>40254160
Holy shit this is awesome. And when is next thread? Tommorow?
>>
>>40254456
No groin. Just the knees. Always the knees.
>>
>>40256164
