Guys, >>40257301 is right with saying that the Hybrid is being Androgynous. You'll simply be referred to as "It" or "That" by other characters with a "Hybrid" gender. You are Cell Iko, a Reploid created by the scientists working for the Neo Arcadian Army. You were originally designed to be a long range, armor piercing sniper with two shoulder mounted Railguns and a pair of rapid-fire busters for close to midrange. Your armor is lightweight to allow you to scale surfaces for better vantage points. The railguns you carry are powerful, but not very energy efficient, allowing for only a handful of shots at full power before you need to recharge. Luckily most of your targets didn’t survive the first shot.

The city of Neo Arcadia is the last vestige of humanity, and it was your job to defend it from those that sought it harm. Though, the ones who you were fighting happened to be your own kind. Reploids were being “Retired” for being a drain on the dwindling resources that were deemed “Necessary for Human survival”. Combat reploids like yourself were being sent out to eradicate the “Resistance”, a group comprised of civilian model Reploids whose only hope of survival was the barren wastes outside the city walls.

(1/2)
>>
You had doubts about your own survival when you had fulfilled your duty. Many of your comrades believed in the Hero of Man, Megaman X. X was the hero who ended the Elf Wars and created the utopia of Neo Arcadia. You believed in him at first too, but you soon found yourself questioning your purpose. Eventually you feared you would be Retired soon yourself, and so, you made plans to escape and join the Resistance.

You left far earlier than you had originally planned. There was a chance that you weren’t going to pass up. The resistance had managed to destroy X!

Of course, you now find yourself in the middle of the wastes having no clue where their base might be…

All you have to go on are the coordinates of their last known base, but after it was attacked awhile back you don’t think they’d be there.

Completely cut off from any intel you would have had normally, you stand on top of an old Reploid Recycling Plant and stare at the ruined buildings before you. Rogue Mechanaloids still roam the streets. You are low on Energy Crystals, E-crystals for short, and could stock up on some by destroying some of the Mechs down below, but that risks damage, loss of ammo, and scaring off anyone who might be nearby…

Crap, how did I do that? Oops... Thanks, if you guys notice typos please, PLEASE, point them out and mock me for it. It's the only way I'll learn.
>>
E-Crystals are pretty important. Plus, if you gather enough of them you could use them as an offering to the Resistance. With that in mind you descend from your perch and land in a parking lot with a crash that echo’s throughout the streets. You are not surprised that a small party of curious Mechanaloids decide to investigate. The mechanaloids here are actually leftovers from Neo Arcadian attacks in this area, but they no longer register you as friendly.

From your counts you see about twenty Gli-Eyes, annoying floaters is what they are, and a couple Carryarms with Spikings. Carryarms are actually quite cowardly; they drop their payload and retreat to grab another Spiking or heavy object. Spikings are, well, spiked wheels that try to run people over, nothing fancy there.

You shouldn’t need your Railguns for this. With your Busters leveled you unload a rain of plasma into the swarm of Gli-Eyes. A few explode while others fall to the ground, and the ones that survive scatter and attempt to surround you. While you focus on the Eyes you hear the sound of a Spiking being released and hitting the ground.
>>
You turn and rake the retreating Carryarm with plasma causing it to sputter and fall to the ground. The Spiking is nearly at you when you dive to the side. You’re more armored than a civilian, but not enough to risk taking unnecessary hits. The Spiking slams into the wall of the Recycling Plant and you fire a quick burst into it to incapacitate it. The swarm of Gli-Eyes regroup and begin charging you while you turn back around.

You fire another burst into the swarm and succeed in downing a few more, but to your annoyance more of them explode as well. Only a handful of them left though, so you can easily focus on the last Carryarm, which has just dropped its payload. This one is a lot closer so you have to dodge the Spiking before taking down the floating bugger. A quick burst disables the Spiking, and without stopping your shots you aim at its ride. One too many shots hit the Carryarm and it explodes. And now all that’s left are the Gli-Eyes, which you mop up with ease.

You quickly scavenge the intact Mechanaloids for their E-Crystals and come out with a decent haul. Unfortunately, the ones that exploded are useless to you, and were just a waste of time. Still, you got what you needed to last another week or two.

Also, we're in the desert after Zero 1. You know who else is in the desert after Zero 1?

We're gonna fucking die if we've got any Neo Arcadia markings on us. Any chance we can scuff those off if we have them?
>>
Right then, that’s enough for now. You quickly duck into a nearby alley and scale jump up the walls, kicking off with your dash systems to gain height and speed. When back up top you check your databanks for a map of the area. You’re maybe an hour from the old base. You aren’t holding your breath to find anyone there, but you do hope to find clues.

After about maybe forty minutes into your rooftop parkour session, you hear a familiar noise emanating from the streets below. A cautious peek over the edge reveals a large, floating, gold and brown mechanaloid roaming the streets with surprising purpose. First of all, that’s a Golem, one of Neo Arcadia’s more powerful Mechanaloids. Secondly, it doesn’t seem degraded any so it must have been recently deployed. Thirdly it’s moving as though it is chasing something, or rather, someone!

Where there’s smoke there’s fire! And where there’s a Golem, there’s an Innocent Reploid! You decide to drop down behind the Golem, this time quietly. You succeed in doing so simply by clinging to the wall of the building as you descend.

When on the ground, you see that the Golem is indeed chasing someone. You can’t really see them, but you can hear them running. As hesitant as you are to engage a Golem head on, you do have the element of surprise on your side. You recall these monstrosities being heavily armored on their bodies and floating hands. They also have a deceptively long reach because of their lack of arms. The hands can fly a good distance to grab, punch, and swat what is unlucky enough to be in the way. Their heads are vulnerable, but still heavily armored. Regular buster shots, like yours, are nothing more than scratch damage to it. You COULD use your railguns here, but you’d have to use a fully charged shot to take it out, hit it in the head, AND be in front of it…

Of course, that’s only if you want to end it in one shot.

This sounds good. Collapsing a building on it would be great.
>>
Aw, I wish I had seen this before. I guess Pneumatic Ram must wait for a different day...

As for gender, go by if they have high heels, I guess.
>>
Oh, something I forgot to mention about the Railguns.

They can be fired uncharged but deal about as much as a Second Level charge-shot. When fully Charged they do EXTREME damage, but to get them to that level can take a little bit. You can "store" a charge to fire later, but it WILL be your next shot. So if you fully charge a round, you will fire it next, even if you only wanted to kill a Gli-Eye with it.

That's only your Railguns though, your Busters don't charge and are more like an SMG. Just something to keep in mind from now on.
>>
>>40259507
I'm guessing we don't have any type of variable weapon system?
>>
>>40259533
You do, but we'll talk about that later.

Also, your Railguns, are inherently Elec. based. And if you didn't know, the Elemental Triangle for Megaman Zero goes, Fire>Ice>Electric>Fire
>>
>>40259533
VWES seemed to be something that was mostly done away with in the Zero series, though there were some variant shots in X4. Maybe X3 too, I forget on that one. Still, probably not a good idea to count on them.
>>
>>40259587
Well, okay, WE don't have a VWES, but it does still exist, it's just not common and are left for the Expensive Reploids. We will be getting more weapons down the line though. Don't worry, about that.

>>
Right, there are old cars on the sides of the street, they won’t go up in a puff of smoke easily, but it’s doable. In fact…

You duck behind a corner and fire at a nearby car in hopes that the Golem will notice. The Golem slows down and turns, but doesn’t stop moving. It isn’t often you see one of those things moving in reverse. You pick up a rock and throw it at the car, not wanting it to trace your plasma shots back to you. After a moment a giant fist races into view and crushes the car with enough force to blow it up, sadly the hand is no worse for wear. Well, that didn’t work.

You peek around the corner and see the Golem turning around just as someone in yellow rounds a corner into an alleyway. The Golem follows suit and as do you. It’s a tight fit for the Golem down here, and there’s no way you can get around it. Except to go over it that is.

You’re nimble enough to possibly avoid its attacks, but you aren’t sure you could take a direct hit from it…

>New plan?

>>40259763
Power Copying? Nope. That's more X's thing. Zero learned skills from fighting enemies too. But nothing like what you're used to.
>>
>>40259826

>>40259926
>>40259934
How about scale a building, build charge, and aim for the head while getting in position to blast it from above while it tries to corner its prey?
>>
>>40260100
Could work, maybe. What is important is making it turn to the MC. Maybe scaling a building and jumping down would be as effective.
>>
You begin charging a shot in your railgun, but only to about fifty percent, and begin scaling the walls. When you reach the top you see that the alley is actually a dead-end! The person in yellow you saw is already at the end, but doesn’t seem like they’re going to climb the wall. Probably for the best, if they did then the Golem would have a free shot at them while they’re defenseless. From up here you have a good shot at the Golem’s head, the problem being that its face is the weak point… Guess that leaves you with limited options. You cap out your charge and ready your Railguns and sync them with your optics causing Crosshairs to appear in your sight. Where ever the crosshairs are, are where the guns will hit. Now all that’s left is to find a way to get to the Golems face…

>How?
>>
>>40260474
While it's focused on it's prey, circle towards the front of it from the rooftops. Line up a shot from above it, and then attempt to blow it's brains out from above.
>>
>>40260474
What's making the alley a dead end. Can our gun bust through it? If not >>40260548
>>
>>40260653
It's a dead end due to a large collapsed building. Your gun could bust through the wall, but that's only the start of what's in the way. In the end, even if you did open up the wall, you would likely only end up trapping the poor guy further.
>>
>>40260717
Can we slide down the rubble then? Really, if we can find a vantage point where we can surprise the golem and get a shot off, we may get lucky and end this fast, or at least ensure it is hurting bad.
>>
>>40260758
You're either going to have to shoot at it from the roof, or hope to god you get lucky and fight it like a man. And hope you don't get hit. Of course, those are only the Obvious solutions.

But no, you can't really climb down, you have the best vantage point you can get at the moment.

>>
>>40261065
>>40261288
Throw a big rock, blast it with a buster shot.
>>
>>40261353
Take another look at what I said, back up here >>40259507

Your next RAILGUN shot will be whatever charge you have stored, but your busters work on a different circuit. You can easily do both.

----------

Railguns are fully charged, and the Golem is nearing its prey. You’ve got one chance to make this work.

You rake the Mechanaloid with plasma from your busters as you run along the rooftops, keeping your crosshairs on its head the whole time. The siege weapon turns its attention skyward and a few buster shots find its face by mistake. To protect its weak spot it fires its thrusters to move sideways away from your fire, and towards the entrance to the alley. A quick readjustment has your sights back on its face, except you note a faint green glow emanating from its mouth.

You completely forgot about that…

The Golem fires a laser from a hidden emitter that ravages the building you’re on, but misses you. You don’t have time to fire, so you dash-jump to the roof of the building opposite of you. Landing on the roof, you roll forward to avoid a possible follow up. You can’t hear anything over the sound of metal and concrete crashing against the ground, so you cautiously peek your head over the side of the roof and see the Golem charging another laser. You have only a few seconds to react!

You don’t even think, you just fire! Your shots tear through the air with a deafening roar that far eclipses the collapsing building. The recoil sends a shock through your systems and your shoulders feel like they’ll be ripped off. You stare at the Golem from your perch and frown as you note that you only destroyed its laser and a good chunk of its armor. Severely damaged, but still in operational order. From the looks of it, you caught it in its upper chest. “Damn,” you mutter, noting that your Railguns will need a little while to cool. Still, it can’t reach you up here.

You raise your busters and rain plasma death down onto its now visible circuitry. The Golem quickly ignites its thrusters and exits the alley. You go to the edge of the roof, still firing at it as much as you can, even as it flees down the street with its back to you.

The Golem is gone for now, that means you can attend to whoever it was chasing. So, you slide down the wall and make your way to the end of the alley where you see what looks like an anthromorphic cat-like Reploid with Yellow armor on his chest, forearms, shins, thighs, and helmet, and the rest of him is brown. He has yellow beam-claws on his hands and feet that are at the ready. He’s not in an aggressive stance, but he’s also not letting his guard down.

“Thanks for that,” he says as the last stones start to settle from the buildings collapse. “Wouldn’t have been pretty if I had to climb on that thing and claw it apart.” He starts pacing back and forth as he eyes you up. He stops when he notices a brand on your shoulder. “Neo Arcadian? Why’d you help me?” Before you can say anything he goes back to talking, “Deserter, right? Doesn’t matter. X is dead, and it’s only a matter of time until they come out here in force to get their revenge.” His claws fade away with a hiss and he walks up to you, “So, what are you doing here? Looking for treasure, enough E-crystals to get by, an early grave?” There’s no hostility in his voice, but you know that if you show any yourself he would gut you right then and there.

You disengage your railguns and they fold against your back, into something that would look similar to a backpack.

But I don’t have the coordinates for it, and you won’t be getting there by foot any time soon, either.” He walks past you, “Why, looking to join up? Meet the legendary hero Zero? Maybe mooch off of their resources for a while and then leave them out to dry? Or maybe you’re a scout looking to get revenge for your dear beloved X.”

“I was hoping to join them. I mean, they’ve done nothing wrong. They’re just trying to survive and defend themselves.” You tell him.

“That’s right. We’ve done nothing wrong, yet the bigots over in Neo Arcadia want us all dead.” He spins on his heels and points at you. “You saw it too, didn’t you? People you knew disappearing, being ‘retired’ after they began to ask too many questions, were too much of a resource sink. So you got out of there. You were looking after your own hide, just like me, just like everyone at with the Resistance. But at least there, we can look out for ourselves and still cover each other. No bullshit politics, no backstabbing, everyone is family there.” He takes a couple steps closer and holds out his hand. “Lightning Lynx. Member of the Resistance Outpost Alpha. If you help me finish off that Golem, grab its E-crystals, and maybe scrap it for parts, you’re welcome to come back with me. I don’t know if everyone else will welcome you so easily, but I was in your shoes not so long ago. So I think things will work out.”

Look man, I know we have a giant cannon, and that makes you want to show it off and wave it in their faces, but that doesn't mean he wants it. Relax, and get to know the cast first. Besides, he's probably seen bigger ones out there.
>>
“You’ve got yourself a deal,” you say as you shake his hand. “I’m Cell Iko.” The two of you walk towards the end of the alley and you notice that he’s taking a lot of short and fast steps, like he wants to take off running, but doesn’t want to leave you behind. “So, any idea where it might have gone?”

“Not far. Those things always come back to finish the job. The only reason it ran away was because it registered that it had taken massive damage.” Once out onto the street, Lynx point down the road. “There it is. It just got out of range of your buster shots and probably started up some kind of auto-repair. No way it’s fixing its armor, but it might reroute some of the circuits to give it a fighting chance.” You silently ready up your Railguns when Lynx stops you. “Go for using your busters. Don’t want the thing to explode and lose out on the crystals now.”

“Alright, but what about you? You don’t look heavily armored, or like you have a ranged game.”

“I managed to avoid that thing for a good ten minutes before you showed up. I’ll be fine. Just stay back and don’t shoot me.” Lynx ignites his claws and starts bouncing around in the street, getting the Golems attention.

The Golem slowly hovers over, one hand raised over its exposed circuitry. If it’s going to defend itself like that, then you won’t have to be as defensive this time. There are fire hydrants on the sidewalks about halfway between you and it…

“Hey, Lynx, what’s your load out like? Got any range on you?”

“The only thing I’ve got besides my claws are my Shock Cables, why?”

“When it gets close I’m going to hit those fire hydrants, I want you to try and shoot a cable into the things chest and give it a zap.”

Lynx nods and gives a excited grin. “Alright, but you’ve gotta get that hand out of my way.”

>How are you going to do that?

Lynx has totally seen bigger.

>>40264245
Railgun shots are risky. If successful, they could destroy the E-crystal.
>>
>>40264372
uncharged shots, then. The point is to generate enough threat to the head so that the golem has to use both hands to get us.
>>
>>40264074
Question: Do the hydrants have any water on them? Since they're in the abandoned parts of the city or whatever...
>>
>>40264738
I hope so. I mean, the energy crisis in MMZ has generally fucked over the environment, but it's not like water is a scarce resource right? ....right?
>>
>>40264783
I mean, Eurasia happened a century ago, and most places outside Neo Arcadia in the games look like giant shitholes.
>>
“I think I have an idea, just get ready.” Lynx nods and you see flaps on his wrists open up and a small dart can be seen under them.

The Golem approaches the fire hydrants slowly. When it’s in position, you fire your busters to pop the hydrants, causing the water to spray out the ground and rain down on the Mechanaloid. Lynx raises his arms and aims his cables, but doesn’t quite have a clear shot.

You dash to the side while charging your Railguns to about fifty percent. You fire the first shot into the hand covering the hole in its chest, and a second, uncharged shot into its face. The hand is knocked aside leaving the hole exposed, and with a shot to its face, its free hand goes to protect that instead.

“Lynx, now!”

Lynx jumps up into the air and fires his cables right at the Golems exposed circuitry. “Nailed it!” The effect is visible almost immediately as he sends electricity down the lines. Sparks fly as the charged cables are hit with water as it continues to shoot out of the hydrants, creating a nice current into the Golem. After a few moments the Golem sputters and collapses to the ground, lights extinguished, and finally defeated.

“Not bad,” Lynx says, retracting his cables. “The crystals are protected from the elements usually, so short circuiting, freezing, or otherwise disabling them works miracles.”

“So, you want to do the honors? I’m assuming it was your prey to begin with.”

“Yeah, thanks.” Lynx quickly removes some rather large E-Crystals from the belly of the beast. “These should get me a nice welcome back, and you a nice warm welcome.” He quickly hands over about half of what he gathered. “Don’t spend them all in one place, you hear me.”

“I don’t know, you think the initiation fee is cheap?”

“Ha! Yeah, they’ll pretty much take you to the cleaners, literally too! They’ll want that brand of yours gone as soon as they can.” He slaps you on the shoulder as he passes you. “Alright, follow me!”

***INTERMISSION***

Okay, I'm thinking about calling it a night here, but I'll see what you guys think. I can answer questions you might have, keep running (albeit slowly), or just disappear for the night. Either way, I should point out...
Twitter is @NeoArcadiaQuest
I'm on the IRC for Rizon, you can find me on #Ques/tg/enerals under the name Bar_Keep if you need/want to get in touch with me.

Also, I plan on running again next Thursday or Friday. We'll see how busy I am those days.

Thanks for running!

Will the elemental triangle be a thing?

can our dash system dash mid-air or do dash-jumps?
>>
>>40265286
He already said the element thing stands, and I'd assume we need wings or something similar to air dash
>>
>>40265333
wings allow MULTIPLE air dashes and/or hover/slow descent.

At least, for the megamen.
>>
>>40265286
Elemental Triangle is in effect, Be careful around them Ice Elements!

Also, Air-dash and double jumps might be possible, it depends on how you plan on using what you get from missions.

Dash-jumps are something you can do, and have already done. That's how you jumped to another building when the Golem fired its first laser.

Thanks for running!

>>40265212
I'm not as familiar with MMZ as I am with other variants. I'm interested to see how this goes.

>Air-dash and double jumps might be possible
>but not yet
so we've got the X3 standard dash system? gotcha.

can we walljump?
>>
>>40265711
Definitely! You have pretty much the standard fare for movement that you would expect.
>>
>>40265767
If I may, how is this going to work, out of curiosity? Are we a satellite base from the Resistance's home base, or part of their main force?
On a different note, would X-drones be reploids or mechaniloids? Also, does anyone else ever think of them as X-Joes due to the monoeye?
>>
>>40265833
pretty sure they have a name.

here we are, Pantheon. They definitely aren't sentient, at any rate. Probably even dumber than golems.
>>
>>40265833
It's a satellite base. They receive orders and missions from the main base, but it's mostly meant to serve as an early warning outpost should Neo Arcadia decide to attack and go through the desert.

And the "X-drones" are actually called Pantheons. They are mass produced copies of Copy-X (copies of a copy, how original), but they lack intelligence and are considered Mechaniloids.

And I'm pretty sure they're considered the MMZ equivalent of the Sniper Joe.
