After the first day of Roshi's training, night came with little in the way of incident, aside from Launch again sneezing and her angry blonde self trying to threaten Roshi with a knife, demanding a million Zenni and a plane. You and your brother quickly disarm her and keep her busy long enough for her sneeze again and switch back. The next morning, Roshi reveals to Chi-chi and Krillin that they will be wearing 40 kilo shells while training, reminding them both how you, Acer, and Goku are wearing even heavier ones and handling yourselves just fine with them on, telling them to work towards that goal.

After another round of activities, Roshi again tells you to step forward, this time pairing you up with Chi-chi.

"This bout of training will be a bit different than the one yesterday." the old man tells you, tossing Chi-chi her helmet. "Again, you may choose what she should use against you, but this time you must successfully defend yourself against three of her attacks. However, instead of her going first, you will be making the first move, Maple."

Roshi grins somewhat nervously. "A-are you sure, kiddo? I mean, you might want to try something simp-"

"Yes! I'm sure!" Chi-chi shouts, trying to take a defensive stance, nervous but determined. "I'm... I'm ready, Maple."

Gathering your ki to a point at your finger, making it clear what you're doing for your opponent, you take aim at the other girl. Being very careful to only use as much as you think she can handle, at least without hurting her too bad, you fire with a shout of "Geist Magnum!"

"Kah!" Chi-chi tries to block the attack, guarding her face with her arms as the attack connects, striking her in the left arm. It pushes her back as she lets out a yelp of pain, but she remains standing. As you and Roshi rush over, she reassures you she's fine, rubbing the spot where she was hit. The other three students let out a sigh of relief, and the both of you bow and take a stance again.

"All right Maple, remember, three successful attempts." the old man says, stroking his beard.

"R-ready?" Chi-chi asks you, placing both hands on her helmet.

You nod, a friendly smile on your face easing her nerves slightly.

"Use your helmet's beam weapon." you tell the other girl.

"O-okay!" she responds, placing her hands on her helmet. She fires her first attack, with you dodging out of the way skillfully. Her next attack comes quicker, with her trying to aim where you're dodging to. While harder, you manage to avoid that too. Her last strike comes at you, and you seem to react before even she does, the beam missing you clearly. Doing a little spin in the air, you land on one foot.

"Nicely done, Maple!" Roshi exclaims, walking towards you both. "Still, you seemed to have an idea on what you're doing Chi-chi, keep working hard and you'll catch up in no time." The other girl smiles wide at the praise. "Now, I think I know what Chi-chi wants to learn, Maple, please instruct her."

Walking towards the other girl, you again demonstrate the Geist Magnum to her, this time aiming for a rock instead of your friend. Chi-chi seems a bit confused, trying to mimic your pose but not quite sure how to properly utilize her ki. The boys watch from a distance, Goku and Krillin focused on your demonstration while Acer relaxes against a tree, noticing the setting sun.

You take your time to explain to the other girl how your technique works, giving her everything you know about ki manipulation. It takes quite some time, but eventually, she makes a shout of "Geist Magnum!" and blasts a nearby rock. The girl's eyes go wide and she starts jumping for joy, dancing with you and shouting "I did it!" again and again. Roshi heads over and pats you both on your heads, congratulating this little display.

As the six of you head inside again, the smell of dinner making Goku's mouth drool, you're greeted by Launch... in her blonde state. However, instead of her trying to threaten you all again, she stares. The next words out of her mouth surprise you all.

"Kid. I want to know how you did that."

"Were... were you watching us the whole time?" you ask, Chi-chi hiding behind you.

"So what if I was? You got a problem with that?!" she replies, almost instinctively reaching for a gun before remembering you took all hers away.

"I don't know if that's such a good idea..." you tell her, your brother nodding in agreement with Krillin hiding behind him, Goku barely even registering the scene as he smells the food inside.

"And why the hell not?!" Launch growls at you, consciously trying to keep herself from reaching for a nonexistent gun again.

"You're kinda... violent. And prone to threatening people." you state plainly, your brother again nodding in agreement. Chi-chi and Krillin try to hide behind you both even more than they already are, trembling a bit. Launch tries to protest in her usual way, but realizes it would only serve to prove your point. You look to Roshi and ask him, "Master, what do you say?"

Roshi strokes his beard and contemplates. He grins a somewhat devious grin and says "Equivalent exchange." Launch recognizes the old man's intentions, but you and Acer hijack them before he can make a tense situation worse.

"If you want to learn about our ki attacks, you have to learn to change your attitude." your brother tells her. "Right, Maple?"

You give a nod, telling her "We're not going to teach you if you're going to use it to hurt people, first of all." Launch is less than amused by the statement. "If you change your attitude, we'll agree to this. Also, it'll be hard to teach you if you're angry all the time."

Launch looks like she's trying her hardest to not strangle you, both because she can't quite believe a kid is talking to her like this and because she knows you're right. Still, she stays as calm as she can, grumbling an "Understandable" under her breath, followed by a lower "goody two-shoes."

"Lastly," you mention with a grin, Launch glaring at you so hard you'd think she might set you on fire. "You must teach us something in exchange. Something of approximate equal value."

This puzzles the blonde woman, and she takes a moment to think. Reaching into her pocket, she pulls out a Capsule and activates it, revealing a hoverbike. "I can teach you about this. Don't push your luck any further than you already have."

You and your brother grin at each other and then nod at the woman. "I believe this is a deal." Acer informs Launch offering his hand to shake. She does so, and then sneezes again, her calmer personality taking over.

"Oh no, did I do something bad again?" she asks with worry in her eyes, looking at the hoverbike.

"Nope!" you say as you shake her hand. "Quite the opposite, in face. We're happy to be teaching you." She gives a bewildered look, and then heads inside, Roshi slouching but not protesting your new agreement. Your entire group heads inside for dinner, Krillin accidentally stepping on Goku's tail and making him shout in pain. The older boy tries to apologize, but Goku tells him not to worry.

During dinner, Chi-chi mentions how there's supposed to be a full moon tonight, which makes Goku seem uneasy. He mentions a story his grandpa told him about a giant monster that comes out during the full moon, at first causing Chi-chi and Krillin to laugh at such a thing, something they brush off as nothing more than a bedtime story. However, Goku assures them that the monster is what made his grandpa "go away."

Oh.

Oh shit.

You and Acer look at each other nervously. You have an idea. You REALLY do not want to test this idea. Roshi seems to read your minds again, and hurries the other kids to bed, claiming that he has something important to talk with you about. With Launch helping the others change, Roshi takes the three of you outside. The old man stays silent, apparently wanting you both to say something first.

You gulp. "Master... I guess you already know, but, then you'd know what the danger is. He might be..." you shiver, not quite sure if you want to continue. "C-can you tell us if Goku-"

"He doesn't remember any of it." Roshi tells you. "I can't quite see that part of his mind, it's... heh, alien. Even compared to you both. But... one night he goes to sleep. One morning he wakes up without Gohan." He turns to you both. "I think you both know that he's stronger than either of you right now, and he'll only get stronger. If he were to..." Roshi shakes his head. "There's only one way to truly deal with this."

"If you remove his tail it'll just grow back." Acer states. "Up to a certain age, that's how it works. What do you have in mind?"

"This." Master Roshi points upwards with his staff at the full moon. If this were any other time, any other planet, the sight would be pleasant. But here and now... you just hope Goku doesn't wake up. "Kids. I am going to teach you the Kamehameha wave as best I can."

"What? How is that going to help?" your brother states.

"What." you state flatly. What IS IT with people trying to blow up parts of this star system? "Master that's incredibly dangerous! The global effects would be catastrophic, there has to be another way!"

Roshi turns to you and shakes his head. "We would have to keep Goku from seeing it every time it shows up. Can you really guarantee that'll be something we can do? Even a minor mistake..." He then... smiles? Why is he smiling? "Besides, this isn't the first time the planet's lost a moon."

"The hell does that mean?" your brother demands.

"Read between the lines in those books you two found. There's more to the history of the world than what first appears. I should know." Roshi tells you with a laugh, then takes his stance. "Doing this will help both the world as a whole, and Goku personally. If any negative repercussions come from this, I will take full blame."

You look at him, then at your brother. A rampaging Great Ape might be even worse than any natural disasters, and... You take a stance next to Roshi. Gods, what are you DOING? Well, maybe if you don't destroy the whole thing, just break off part of it, enough to prevent a transformation...

"Meeeee..." You're doing this. You're actually doing this. Oh Gods what has gotten into you.

"Haaaaa..." a third voice joins you and Master Roshi's, Acer standing beside you both. This is really happening.

"MEEEEEEEE..." the three of you say simultaneously, ki flowing into your palms like a powerful whirlpool. This is it.

"HAAAAAAAA!" you, Roshi, and Acer shout together, a massive blast of blue and white power erupting from the palms of your hands as you fling them forward. The power you released is overwhelming, blinding almost, you're not quite sure you had this much energy in you before, but damn do you have it now. The three beams hit the moon, and in a brilliant flash, the deed is done.

Gods you're exhausted. Ooh head feeling light...

Goku, Krillin, Chi-chi, and Launch all rush outside to see what just happened, Goku being the first to ask what happened.

Trying your very hardest to faint, you approach Goku and tell him with an unexpected amount of pride in your act. "We blew up the moon." You stumble, the boy catching you. "Tired now... ooh that was a lot of energy..." Goku is quite confused by this statement, only to look up and shout in surprise as he sees you did indeed blow up the moon.

"The monster won't bother you anymore, Goku." Acer tells him, Roshi returning to his normal size. "We stopped him as best we could."

"Wow! That's amazing! You guys are really strong!" the monkey boy tells you both, tail wagging happily. He helps you inside and finally, you get some rest. That was... quite a day.

The next couple of days of training are a bit more of the same, Roshi instead having Krillin and Acer train together, and then Chi-chi and Goku, the girl finally learning to fly herself. Launch in her calm personality proves somewhat easy to deal with, while her angrier personality starts to come around slowly. Soon comes the weekend, and you're surprised by what you hear from your master. "Today you five have the day off, you may do what you wish, just be sure to be back here by dinner time."

"Sure thing!" Goku tells the old man. "Huh, but what are we going to do today..."

"I'm gonna focus on training some more." Krillin states, arms crossed.

"Well, I think it'd be good to visit my dad, he'll be surprised to learn just how far I've come." Chi-chi adds, floating into the air.

"Hmm... I think I'll check up on Eighter, see how he's doing." the monkey boy proclaims, calling his flying cloud.

"We should try to find Bulma again, maybe talk tech with her." you tell him, getting your Scouter, Acer doing the same. You wave goodbye to the three fellow students and set out to fly with your brother. Upon approaching West City, it isn't very hard to find Capsule Corp., what with the name in big, bold letters on the building. Outside you see a blonde woman watering some flowers and a girl with purple hair approaching the entrance by hoverbike, instantly recognizable as Bulma with her name plastered in big red and white letters across her yellow shirt.

What is it with this young woman and putting her name on her clothes?

Upon landing, she instantly recognizes you both, probably helped by your Scouters. "Hey, you two are Goku's friends, aren't you? Acer and Maple, right?"

"SCIENCE!"

The young woman cracks her knuckles. "Science."

"SCIEEENCEE!" you shout, pumping your fists into the air.

"Use your big girl words." Acer snarks, getting a smack upside his head for his trouble.

The three of you enter the girl's home, greeted by a couple robot servants. Inside you see what appears to be a wildlife preserve, fit with many varieties of animals, from cats to dinosaurs, Yamcha, his floating cat friend, Oolong, and another figure visible some distance away. Bulma takes you both away from the area and into what appears to be a lab, the Dragon Ball locator on a table there.

You place your Scouter on her table, next to her radar thing. "We're curious about the Capsules, and this... well, Dragon Ball locator, thing."

"Dragon Radar." she tells you.

"Right, but what I think you'd be most interested in, is this." You point to your Scouter. "This device has many features. It allows one to pick up the energy signatures of life forms and presents them with a certain rating, a 'Power Level' if you will."

"Seems convenient. Certainly isn't anything from Earth." she tells you with a wink. You and Acer seem a little confused as to how she figured that out, but then she follows up the statement. "Come on now, it's more than a little obvious. Besides, you two aren't the only aliens I've met. My sister's sort of best friends with one."

"Heh, well, in addition, the device allows near instantaneous long-range communication across vast distances. Even across planets." Acer adds, placing his own down.

"Quite an impressive piece of tech... QECs?" Bulma guesses, carefully looking over it.

"Well, aren't you a clever young woman, Bulma." you state with a grin. You then pick up the other device, taking care to look over it's functions. The Radar gives no signal, letting you know there are no Dragon Balls anywhere nearby. Next you look at a set of Capsules nearby, analyzing it without activating it.

"Mind if I keep one of them for a while? I already have some great new ideas..." she says, looking at the Dragon Radar in your hands.

You grin wide, and hold up a finger. "Equivalent exchange."

"Oh?"

"You give me some information on the Capsules, and I'll let you use my Scouter for as long as you need. Deal?" you tell her, offering a handshake.

"Deal!" she shouts in response, shaking your hand, excited at the prospects.

"I'll be keeping mine then." Acer states. From morning to well into the afternoon, the three of you go over the technology of your respective devices, Bulma quickly picking up the basics of the Scouter's design and you learning just how ingenious the Capsules really were. The storage compression is something you'd never even thought possible if it weren't sitting there staring you in the face. After a long, fun time of SCIENCE, you decide to do a little shopping with Bulma and your brother. Your brother gets himself a neat little hat with some of the money he earned, while you...

You decide to get something for everyone back at Kame House. Ah, but anyone can just up and BUY something. You decide to make it a little more personal. While it takes some time getting all the materials together, you find that it's actually pretty fun. You get make Krillin a little shirt that says "MONDO COOL DUDE" on it in big, bold letters, make a nice little necklace for Chi-chi, throw together an adorable little turtle figurine for Roshi, make a cute little scarf with hearts on it for Launch, and finally together a little stuffed monkey for Goku, customized to include something that looks like the boy's hair.

Brobro thinks all of them are incredibly dorky. Bulma thinks they're all really sweet. After you're done, you and Acer fly back just in time for dinner and present your gifts to your friends and Master. As the day comes to a close, everyone else tells you and your brother what they did. Krillin informs you with pride that he's almost mastered flying as well, Chi-chi tells you her father is extremely pleased with how strong she's gotten, and Goku shouts that he and Eighter stopped a monster from attacking Jingle Village, the place where the Android was staying.

Launch helped around the house, while Roshi... watched "exercise" programs all day to "keep in shape." Regardless, all of them appreciated your gifts, and as you all headed to bed, you notice Goku with his new monkey doll tucked under his arm, sound asleep. Chi-chi and Launch mention how cute it looks. As you head up, you take the book on magic with you and decide to read it until you're tired enough to fall asleep.

Plus, we can make weighted training clothes, and I don't know if there is a limit to how heavy so they will stay relevant.

Maybe it will help/lead to other, more awesome stuff with creating things from thin air.

You intensify your study of the "Clothes Beam" and try to learn its secrets. The language is still quite... dense, but you seem to understand it better after giving it a good study, you finally seem to understand how it works. To be blunt, magic is... complex. It requires a fine and focused mind, and strict memorization of the EXACT right techniques to do. It is also apparently tied to ki, though in a more roundabout way than regular energy attacks. How interesting.

You learn the art of materialization and why it seems to be just limited to clothes. The ki necessary to do so it... awkwardly designed might be putting it lightly. It's plain bizarre. And yet, it at least has practical uses.

During your free time the following day, you finally have some time to give it some practice.

You focus your ki and picture the thing you want to make in your mind. A pair of pants, just to start with. Remembering all you can about the technique, you finally try it. "CLOTHES BEAM!"

Out in midair pop the pair of blue pants, and slowly they float to the ground.

You did it. Fear you, demons, for you, Maple Mahogany, have learned their most secretive of arts! Kinda! The Clothes Beam is yours hahahaha!

Your brother looks up from the magic tome and gives a shrug. Less than impressed than he should be by the result. Bah, he's just jealous.

The days of training turn into weeks as the other students select to focus on sparring for a short while, focusing on learning more about and mastering techniques they know already before asking you and your brother for more. You make a couple routine visits to Bulma, occasionally helping her learn more about the Scouters.

You meanwhile...

You focus on the CLOTHES BEAM, trying to make an entire outfit with it. It takes a lot of work, and many failed attempts resulting in either un-wearable or complete fashion disasters of clothes. But finally, you do it. You master the CLOTHES BEAM. You're able to produce an entire outfit out of thin air, and able to alter and repair clothes through magic.

Perfect.

You also make the effort towards improving the Jan Ken, enhancing it with Ki. You don't quite master the technique, but you get the basics down. This certainly has potential.

You also recall that Krillin's birthday is coming up, October 29th, though he decides to wait to celebrate it with you and Acer, saying he has something nice for you both.

You and Acer decide to do something special for your friend, and pool your resources to make a pair of gifts. First is a fashionable suit and hat, something that looks cool. Next is an outfit with weights in it, designed to help him take on the training a little better. When the day comes, October 31st, he's more than happy for his gifts, especially enjoying the suit. In return, he gives you both a pair of friendship bracelets, Goku and Chi-chi pooling their own money to buy you and Acer a pair of shirts with "I can't beLEAF this!" written on it above a couple trees.

Apparently Chi-chi's idea, as Goku doesn't quite get the pun.

After dinner, all of you decide to exchange ghost stories with the other students. Chi-chi tells you one she heard from her father about a scary giant woman who lives on the other side of the world and guards the entrance to hell. Krillin attempts to tell you one about the man with no nose, but Goku points out that HE has no nose.

When it comes to you and Acer, you have something different in mind.

>>
>>40269203
The Saiyans are always a topic that seemed to bring up fearful memories, but at the same time it's probably not appropriate. The Tuffle myth about the fruits and the mushrooms that control peoples' minds is spooky, but not quite scary enough. Oh, but Izumi's training. THAT can be some nightmare fuel on its own. Roshi himself seems terrified before you speak a single word.

Perfect.

You gather everyone around you, telling the tale of surviving on an island, with no link to civilization and no contact for one month. No one living there but you and Acer. Keyword... living. Days were the easiest to deal with, for the nights were filled with terrifying specters, haunting and prowling, waiting to snatch up little kids.

Kids just

like

you.

Sometimes you and Acer fear that they might have followed you, waiting for the right moment, when you drop your guard...

TO STRIKE!

Your brother jumps up behind Krillin and Chi-chi, the two screaming in terror, then turns on the lights. Krillin jumped into Chi-chi's arms, still screaming even after the girl stopped, Roshi in Launch's arms and miraculously not trying to reach for her chest. At first. Goku however wasn't even phased by the story, wagging his tail with his elbows on the table, telling you that he'll "help stop the bad ghosts."

Not exactly the reaction you expected.

Thanks for playing! Also, I might have to roll for Goku early, just to see how he compares and if he'll be present for most of the next session or not. Not quite sure yet, but it'd be to keep his GAINS from getting too high. If I do, and if his PL gets over 500, he might end up meeting a certain someone to keep him from getting overconfident in his abilities.

Pic related.

I like the clothes beam focus so we are different from all the other DBZ quests. Basically be Erza from Fairy Tail.

However with how much we are being fucked over by the dice i think the best out of 3 rolls approach would be much better, otherwise we are just gonna be trash and its never fun playing someone whos outperformed by everyone else.
>>
>>40274154

That was Goku's power roll.

He flubbed his training. Granted, just means more training with Roshi.

I think part of it is to be different from other dragon ball quests when they hit saiyan saga too.
>>
>>40276550
I wasnt specifically talking about that roll, we got fucked over a lot overall.
Seems dumb passing a dc and then 2 rolls after fail miserably resulting in us being fucked, op gave us an exception earlier but its still stupid and removes the hype that makes other dbz quests good.

>>40277269
>failed one thing

Seriously? Is SWQ now also ruined because Bruce isn't rolling nineties and is getting pushed in a spar?
>>
>>40274154
It has been best of 3, was initially not sure if the >>40268331 roll was prioritizing the Jan Ken or CLOTHES BEAM, so tried to give my guess, based on the other failed attempts at the CLOTHES BEAM. Switched it around when clarified.

>>40276550
It could also mean that Roshi's training just isn't as effective for him since he's already so strong. It's helped, but hasn't given him the crazy monkey gains that he might get. On the plus side, there's a good chance you'll be closer in strength to him by the end of training.

As for the Saiyans, Raditz will be in for quite a shock by the time he arrives, even with minimal GAINS by Goku and everyone else. Of course, with maximum gains, well... there's a chance Goku might become stronger than Vegeta. Much stronger. And you, at the very least, will be more than a match for Nappa.
>>
In this quest, it seems a lot more likely we will be able to make a wish on the dragonballs, seeing as it is likely that we won't have to bring fools back to life.
So, any ideas on what we might want to wish for?
>>
>>40279361
QM's opinion: try to go for something useful, and nothing with a big gamble involved if you manage to keep everyone alive. Things like ruling the world and immortality might seem nice, but they can have... consequences. And are certainly not things a nine year old should be seriously contemplating no matter how smart you are.

Self-replenishing bag of Senzu on the other hand, that's smarts. If not that, perhaps something preventing any moons of the Sol system from emitting enough Blutz Waves to trigger a transformation, or outright preventing Great Ape transformations on Earth. That'll REALLY piss off some Space Monkeys when/if they arrive.

Or you could wish for learning about greater Magics, like certain healing spells or perhaps even the ability to unlock some of the hidden potential of others. That'd be a neat trick.

Or you could even just wish for the world's most comfortable pair of panties. It's an option.
>>
