Your name is Reggie, and you think that it's funny that it just took shooting some people with NERF Blasters to make your first college friends.

As you wake up around noon on this fine sunday morning, you think back to the events of the last two days. How you joined a squad of your fellow Freshmen, how you fought together, helped each other get away untagged from combat scenarios, how you angered Graham Lance, King of Zombies, and how you won your first two missions. Finally, with a smile moving across your lips, you think about how your squadmates invited you to their party last night, and how you you made the first steps into becoming their real friend.

But enough of that, you have a full day ahead of you of survival and fighting in the third Mission. It is time to get up!

What do you want to do?

>Remember specifics from the Party Last Night

It was a pretty quiet affair, even if everyone but you was drinking cheap (you assume) vodka and not good (you assume) beer. You might have drank, but you had to walk back home. Despite being the only sober one, you had a great time. It turns out when Julie is not about to be killed by zombies and is a little drunk, she gets a lot more loud and agressive. She pent at least 30 minutes telling you about how punk is dead, and that the only worthwhile punk music anymore was folk punk, and that straight edge kids are a cult, and then apologizing if you are straight edge, and then telling you she thought you were kind of scary when you fist met them wearing a tac vest and shit, but that you are actually an alright dude, and that she isn't hitting on you, she promises, before she tried to fight Max about wether or not the Beatles were shit or not.

You couldn't tell which side of the argument either of them were on, but they ended up settling things by having Hong and Andrew push them in their rolling dresk chairs down the dormitory hall at each other while shooting at each other with their Nerf Blasters. Meanwhile, you and Gus were laughing your ass off.

Gus made everyone watch his favorite movie, "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and while you had seen it before, it was fun to see it again with other people. Max dragged you into his room at one point to show you his bong, which he proudly told you was named "Bong Cheney jr, you know, like the werewolf guy" and made sure you knew, at least 100 times, that if you ever wanted to smoke weed, to come to him. He brought his drum back to Gus and Hong's room, but they wouldn't let him drum. You left after the twelth round of Mario Kart, after watching Hong and Gus lean against each other and tell each other that they loved their "small Aryan buddy" and "Big Asian buddy" about" for the thirteenth time.

It was kind of strange, but you had a good time

Out of the 450 players, it appears that 75 are now zombies. A bunch of people died during the mission last night, apparently by an ambush set up by Graham Lance in the Urban area, known as the Jungle. Since then, perhaps helped by the lengthened stun timers, there have not been that many deaths. The Humans are aparently meeting in the Student Center at 4:30 to go to the Mission as a large group to make sure this larger horde can't pick off anyone before they join up, and all humans and squads are invited.

As to mentions of you, there are not too many yet. It seems that you do have a price on your head, however. Graham Lance is offering a free DC meal to anyone who can bring you down, or a cure for anyone who delivers you to him. Thrilling, but scary.

>Text your squadmates

You send out a text, and about 30 minutes later get a text from Gus. "Hey, yeah I could really use some coffee. Let me get the others...meet us here in 30 minutes? I had fun last night man, I hope you had a good time too!"

When you go through your texts, you see that you got a text just after you fell asleep from a number you don't recognize.

"Hey Vest, see you on the field tomorrow. Don't get killed and I garuntee things will get a LOT more interesting from here. If you die somewhere I can't see it, I'll pistolwhip you xx Rachel

Huh. So she did give you her real number.

What are the rules for winning? Is there a prize? Are we trying to be the last one surviving, or do we want to maximize the number of survivors?
>>
Also, how does Graham have a cure? Does the first zombie get one automatically?
>>
>>40304112
He's either bluffing, or he has connections.
>>
>>40304092
The game has a series of missions over the next ten days. The results of each mission swings the game in favor of either the Humans or the Zombies. The Human win condition is to win the final mission and to survive through that mission. The Zombie win condition is to tag all of the humans, or force the humans to lose the final mission. Everything before then is preparation and survival, basically. So it is better to maximize other people's survival, because that means more humans and less zombies.

>>40304112
basically, this >>40304172 you don't know the exact specifics.

>>40304057
"Hey Reggie! Yeah, we all made it home ok. Hey listen, Agent X doesn't talk to non Agents during the game for RP reasons, but he told me to tell you he apprecieates the hustle you guys have out there, and that he looks forward to working with you more as a PMC affiliate, which I think means he respects you as potential allies now? So, congrats! See you later dude."

And what is the likelyhood of Lemur lurking in those tunnels if people use them like that, I wonder?
>>
>>40304297

>>
>>40304401
I believe its 0% because zombies cannot enter buildings, and the tunnels seem to only go between the two.

>>
>>40304494
I had assumed that it would be can't attack in buildings. I also would imagine that tunnels between buildings might be a bit of a grey area.
>>
>>40304494

From the first post:
>You are a college freshman about to embark on one of the most harrowing, adrenaline pumping, and potentially pivotal ten weeks of your life. You've read the rules of this NERF Heavy game of tag that spans your entire campus (except inside buildings to avoid disrupting classes) and are ready to play, meet new people, and become a legend in your own time. It is the night before Humans vs. Zombies starts, and you are all ready to begin playing.

>>40304514

>>
>>40304523
>>40304297
If they are widely known about, I imagine that a rule would have been made already - probably after someone tried it.

Can we look up the rules on the tunnels at some point?
>>
>>40304560
let's just be ready to attack when we go down there.
>>
>>40304411
You look out your window. Your dorm room has a small circular window, that if you lean just right, you can see down the hill a short ways. The sky is cloudy, but it doesn't look like rain. The leaves are just starting to turn colors.

>>40304460
Gameplay is not allowed inside buildings to prevent disrupting classes and residential life. However, a human can shoot a zombie inside within ten feet of a door, and a zombie could burst out of a door to tag a human.

>Head over to pick up the Squad for Lunch

You walk over past the weird stone statue over to Cherry Hill. When you get there, Gus Hong and Max are waiting for you, looking pale and bleary but on their feet.

"Hey Reggie...I hope breakfst is still on, I could use some of that nasty corned beef this morning" Max says when you enter the building.

In a few minutes, Andrew and Julie come down the stairs, as well. Julie looks shattered, but still looks ready to battle. Andrew looks the same as he always does...either the man is a king of stoicism or he's not even hung over.

"Reggieee...do the thinking for us man, how can we get to coffee"

When you approach, you crouch by the bush between the walk in clinic and the Kenton Dormitory.

You don't see Graham Lance, but the number of zombies hanging around out front seems to nearly have doubled. There are two zombies by each door, now, and two more hanging out on the wall, out of view of either door. There may be more on the other side, but you can't see them for now.

"Thats a lot of dudes...but we have one more badass zombie killer with us today, right Julie?" Hong smiles at her.

She sighs.

"Oh come on, you shot that dude yesterday, shit was badass." Hong chuckles.

She smiles "That was petty fun."

"All this and well and good dudes, but I don't think we are prepared for an extended fight, or am I wrong." Max says.

"I think that is for the best. we have a 1:1 ratio with the zombies, if we just shoot well, we should be able to pull this off." Gus nods, and everyone starts walking as fast as they can towards the Dining Common. The zombies notice you, and the two who aren't in front of the door start moving towards you, shouting "BRAINS!"

No one is on their game right now. Hong's shots are a little wide, Gus is slower than usual, and Julie seems to not want to shoot until they are within three feet. Andrew calmly pegs one of the four at a distance, however, and you and Max make up the rest of the shots by volume. Andrew snipes on of the zombies by the door, and Max empties his clip at the final one. You all make it inside, scooping what ammo up you can as you run the last distance and make it into the door safely. As the door is shutting behind you you hear the trashcan against Kenton Hall burst open, and of course Lemur has been sitting in there, and he appears to be shouting into his cell phone excitedly.

"So...I guess we are going to be in here a while, huh."

"Is that dude in EVERY Trashcan? Do you think he likes it?"

"The world may never know, Gus."

As you go to sit down, you pass by the bulletin board for campus events, where you see the HvZ poster still proudly hanging. Max goes up to a new flyer as you enter and reads it. "Dudes, come check this out!" It appears to be a call for college students to help up with a psycology experiement, and each student that spends an hour helping will be given $20. "I'm totally gonna do this, thats like a free gram of weed"

You could probably use that money for modding projects, or other things, too. Might be worth your time. It looks like you can call to schedule a time for any point next week during the school day.

>I want to learn more about Julie

Julie is an art history major. She likes art a lot, and likes to paint and create welded sculptures. but she apparently hasn't shown anyone here any of her paintings yet. She seems to be pretty unconfident in her art, which has led to her switching over to art history. She plays the bass for a band called "Shawns of Bitches" back home, and might try to get them to come up here some weekend to play at an open mic night or something. She didn't really want to play HvZ, but Gus convinced her to give it a shot. She is liking it a lot more than she thought.

>Respond to Rachel

she doesn't text back. This is not an unusual turn of events for you.

>I want to learn more about Gus

After Hong takes the phone out of your hands and almost dies reading what you texted Rachel, the conversation turns to romance. Max apparently has a girlfriend back home named Aurelia, or something like that. The conversation turns to Gus when he asks "So Gus, you got a lady in your life?" He smirks wolfishly, as if there is a joke that you don't know in this statement. Gus blushes "N-nah dude, I don't have one actually. In, fact, I've never even had a girlfriend!" He laughs sheepishly, one hand rubbing the back of his head, tossling his blonde hair. Julie looks a little uncomfortable. "What, a guy like you? Are you gay?"

"So what if I was? But nah, I don't know, I dont think I am, I just wasn't that popular in Hgh School, lemme see if I can find a picture- on the other hand, lets just say I worked out a lot this summer."

>I want to learn more about Max

Max wants to get Julie to form a band with him, he would play drums, she would play bass...Andrew plays the synth, right Andrew?

Andrew does not respond, other than to mumble something about "Electro-Swing, actually". Max regales you with tales of Longboarding down the hill from your dorm, and that you can get a solid speed if you do it right.

> I want to learn more about Hong

Apparently, Hong used to be on his School's football team. He was actually scouted for the team here, but heard that those guys were a bunch of assholes, and that he would have to "pretty much dedicate his whole life to drinking that Kool-Aid, Bro." so he decided to focus on his studies instead. After seeing the Action Bastards last night, he is thinking about trying to get into Parkour, but figures he is probably too bulky.

>I want to learn more about Andrew

Its near the end of the hour when Andrew turns to you and says "you know, it would be a lot easier to get out of here if we had Donut."

Max groans. "Not this again..."

Julie "What do you mean, Donut?"

Andrew "Donut is my horse. She could get us out of here in a jiffy. Let's see Graham catch up to Ol' Donut!"

Hong stares at Andrew. "Bro...you have a horse?"

Andrew shrugs.

Apparently, his family lives on a farm in that tiny town out west. They keep horses for people, and offer lessons. He tells all of you that if you ever want to come up that way or a pony ride, you are welcome to do so. You find it difficult to imagine this dude riding a horse...until you can kind of see him as a more lumberjacky Clint Eastwood, only more bovine in facial features.

"Yeah who knows what his deal is, you can't be the only person shooting him, right?" Max shrugs "And don't worry about it dude. I figure getting killed in a Boss Battle isn't a bad way to go. Its better than being killed by some random schmuck."

"Nah, fuck that Homie, we are all gonna make it." Hong pounds the table with one of his huge fists.

"Well, speaking of, I have things to do today" Gus says, before picking his blaster up from off the ground. "We should probably figure out a plan to get outta here, right?"

I like your thinking, friend

You have Julie poke her head out as the least recognizable member. She cooly looks out, then comes back.

"I count ten. Graham Lance seems to be looking at his smart phone by the entrance closest to Stoney's. I think he thinks we live that way. three by the door closest to the clinic, three by the door closest to stoneys, Lemur talking to Graham, and at least one more on the wall between the two doors. I can check the other side too, if you want, but they might make me if I do that. "
>>
>>40307362
alright Andrew will snipe everyone he can see since he has the best range and enough ammo to take out every zombie currently in existence. if they try to rush Andrew we provide covering fire while Andrew retreats deeper into the building. We need to make the rules help us here.

Go with that, but be careful. If it looks like all of the zombies have been taken out along a single path, keep shooting. Don't make a run for it until we are certain - preferably with Lemur dead.

If we have the range for it, take out Graham or Lemur, but don't take risks for it.

>call for backup

You manage to get ahold of Kyle.

How many of you are there? Six? I can be there in three minutes. I'll be pulling up in a red van. When I get here, someone will fling open the side door. you have two minutes to get in there, because I have to turn the car on and off in order for it to be in play, and I don't feel like getting tagged through the window. See you in a few." he hangs up.

>The Plan: Narrow Success!

Andrew crouches on the floor, as Gus slowly pushes the door open. Max is sitting next to him, more marshmallows in his hand. Andrew lines up his shot, and PHHT! Lemur is hit. "shit..meant to hit Graham." PHHT! the second shot hits Graham. "There we go."

"BRAINS!"

He hits one more zombie who comes to investigate before they realize there is a sniper there. At this point, you keep one foot inside the door and swing your body out, using the door for cover, to shoot the one crouched up against the wall, and his two pals who were guarding this door.

There are now nine more zombies in sight. You all make a break for it, you taking the read as you move. They can't get too close, ut they are slwoly gaining ground. You make it to the lot by the Clinic when you realize the van hasn't gotten here yet. the others stop, confused, but it comes barrelling up from the south. The side door slams open. Kyle slams on the window sill.

"GET IN LETS GO!"

Everyone dog piles into the van, with you backing up towards it, eyeing the now 13 zombies that are massing to attack.

(1)

Suddenly, as you take your next step backwards, your foot sinks a lot further than you thought it would. You didn't look for the curb! For just a moment, the barrel of your gun sinks down and you look away from the horde.

And this is when they leap towards you like wolves hungry for prey.

And that would have been it. If a very familiar sound wasn't whirring to life behind you.

"DUCK. NOW."

You duck as the voice commands and hear a huge POOOPH from just over your head. You se about forty marshmallows baloon out in the area in front of you, not hitting any of the zombies, but stopping them in their tracks, just long enough for you to get into the van. Mike is sitting in the back with some massive tube, which he is aiming at the zombies. "GOGOGO" He slams the door shut and puts the tube in the window as the engine comes to life and the tires squeal. The van lurches away and you all breathe a sigh of relief.

"It's a good thing they don't know this bad boy can only do that once right now... you guys hae to be prepared for these situations, or at least not come here during peak hours, seriously."

"Thanks guys, you saved us."

"Just don't get into something like this again, and we'll be cool. It's always fun to get to use the drive by wagon. Just, uh, don't tell any other agents we did this, I'd probably get a burn notice. You guys were lucky we were getting parts for this bad boy, we want it functional by the final mission. Top secret BlOps shit."

you have a budget of $20 to last you until next friday. Your parents give you $20 to "have fun with your friends" every few weeks, which you use to buy video games and hobby stuff, mostly. The next $20 is probably coming in after the biweekly phone call then.

>go get more modding parts

You catch a bus in front of your dorm and are riding towards town, but get off in the town center. You haven't been here very often but you know that there is a hobby shop in the town center where you have bought magic cards before...before you realized you didn't have anyone to play with. They sell stuff for RC vehicles, too, so this seems like a good bet for what you are looking for. You go into "The Magical Realm: Hobbies and More!" and frown at the name, as you usually do. There is a table in the back that is usually empty for tabletop games, and Magic, a row of current comic books, a display case for gundam figurines, the Warhammer 40k section, the bookshelf of Manga, rulebooks, and Graphic novels, and your pal Maurice, who runs the shop when Sal is busy. Maurice currently reading what appears to be a Shojou manga. He nods at you before going back to his reading.

Reworked Internals: take everything out of the Blaster and put your own, stronger parts inside +2- Requires Batteries to not burn out.

Let's talk to her for now, grab the engine we want so long as she isn't holding it, and then talk about the option of splitting a pack of batteries. Maybe we can pick her and Kyle's brains for advice on rebuilding the internals.

>If you are doing that mod, Do you want to split a pack of Li-Ion Batteries?

"I was thinking about getting some, actually, I can't rework the internals without some sort of heavier output. What are you thinking about doing to yours? I'm honestly about to just cut the rocket launcher off of this thing and undermount it to my Rapidstrike. They are kind of shitty, sure, but you can't mount anything on a Alpha Trooper-"

She goes red "Oh, uh...S-sorry..."

>Reworking the internals
She shows you the guides she was using, and talks you through discussions on alternate parts that will work just as well. Using this knowledge, you can cut $5 from the cost of the reworking the internals

>how to attach blasters to each other

Emily figured out that some air powered blasters can be stripped down to just the barrel and still be made to work if you pump them once and flip a switch. The best one she has found thus far takes a rough cut, ($10 shotgun blaster that shoots 8 darts), cuts off all the excess parts and puts a switch near your trigger finger. when you flip the switch, all 8 darts shoot at once. other than the cost of the blaster, she will let you use her hacksaw and her glue gun for free. The Mission details are going to launch in about ten minutes. It seems a few more people have been turned, but not a significant number. It seems mot people know not to go to the DCs by now, unless they have to. Apparently, a guy named James is rising through the zombie ranks lately, with a total of 5 kills to his name. No one seems to know who he is, though.

>Pick up Emily
>you get your gear together and wait out front of Emily's dorm. She meets you, looking the same except her blaster is in front of her now, resting in her hands, and she is wearing a bandolier with 3 clips and two more rockets within it.

You walk in semi-awkward silence after the topic of bandoliers vs. tac vests is exhausted until you get to Tubman hall, where the whole squad is waiting, curious. It seems word got out you were getting a new member.

"Hi there, welcome to the squad! I'm Gus!"

Julie smiles at her "I'm Julie. I'm kind of relieved to have another girl around, its kind of a sausgefest here."

The Mission details drop after the rest of the plesantries are exchanged.

Today's Mission is going to be a game of capture the flag. The mission will last thirty minutes. During this time, there will be fifteen flags scattered around the southwestern residential area, which is known as the Jungle. Each team will have 3 flag areas. no zone can have more than 5 flags in it.

If one team manages to collect all of the flags, a countdown timer will be started. If the team can hold all of the flags for five minutes, they will win the game! You MAY take flags from other teams zones, but a player can only carry one flag at a time!

Gus looks at the rest of you "Have any of you guys ever been to the Jungle?"

Max raises his hand. "my boy Blade is from the Jungle. It's like a concrete jungle in there, man."

"I could tell by the name" Julie deadpans.

"There are a lot of really tall buildings around there, and a few pretty big courtyards. Oh! And the best DC on campus is there. Mostly Athletes live there, because it is really close to the Athletic fields.

from what direction are we coming from? could we use the main human force as a distraction to do a commando hit on one of the enemy flag positions? If we don't know ask Mike about it.

Apologies, guys, I meant to type Student Center up there.

You manage to get through the middle of campus undetected, and slip into the Student Center. When you get to the basement, you see Kyle, and a baldheaded man in sunglasses you can only Assume is Agent X, Mike, Rachel, and Butterballs, the leader of Team Rekt, with a few of his men.

"Good, you made it. I see you picked up a new member, thats good, I know a modded Demolisher when I see one."

Rachel winks at you, after eyeing Emily for a second.

"So, the plan today is a simple one. You might not know this, but although over half of campus lives in these towers that make up The Jungle, there are not many players who live there. In fact, other than a few stragglers, only one team lives there in any force." He smiles a feral grin. "The Action Bastards."

"The rest of the Humans are going to meet us next door in about 10 minutes. When we get there, we will leave immediately, to give the impression that the gathered mass is the whole of humanity. This will draw the zombies towards us, giving the Action Bastards enough time to leave their dorms and use their speed to grab the flags. At this point, we will have Our force in position to defend the flags. We will send two teams to grab whatever flags the zombies have managed to grab. Then, if we time this right, by the time the zombies have untunned, they will only get one more charge before we've won the mission. minimal casualties, an we can get out of that hellhole before we take heavy losses."

Any Questions?

>Ask Questions (Write in your own)
The zombies have pretty sizable numbers at this point. What if they foresee this and leave a contingency to protect the flags?
>>
>>40311759
"Fair Question. The Action Bastards can handle up to twice their number, so if they encounter more than 15 zombies, they have orders to retreat and wait for us. In that case, it will be more of a conventional battle where we scramble for possession and raid their base as much as we can with strike teams.
>>
>>40311684
>Nah, I'm good
>>
>>40311684
how many humans do we have?
>>
>>40311809
Sounds good then.
However, if that were to happen, I feel we could still pretty easily take advantage of their respawn times.
One heavy assault gives us an enormous time advantage.

"With your 7, The Operators 9, The Agency's...9? THe Action Bastard's 7, Team Rekt's 5, and what freelancers are likely to show up, we can expect around 60 or so. That means the zombies are likely to have around 15 or so on us, but humans always have the advantage if it is less than 2:1 on open terrain. Zombies can only take an aware human with huge numbers, tactics, or stealth. Stay cool, and we will be fine."

And with that, you go to the rest of the humans. Now that you are getting to know Mike better, you can see that he uses a different tone of voice when he is talking to the Humans as a whole. the 30 or so who had showed up are hyped and ready, and so, you approach the Jungle

Where is your squad positioned?

You approach the Jungle. You've never really been over here before. Each building here appears to be about 26 floors tall. You don't really give a shit about nature, but this place depresses you. It would be pretty shitty to live here, you feel.

Your squad has taken the back, leaving the agency to take the front line, backed up by Mike's Minigun. The operators are taking each flank, with Rachel on the left side.

It isn't you, but Andrew, who notices the zombies first.

"Three to our back left, Dude." With that, he PHHT! and hits one right between the eyes, before the other two run straight at you in an attempt to blitz, You take them down, and the two more that trailed after, then the three who tried to run away from this failed ambush.

"I'm getting pretty good with the blowgun, I guess."

You are impressed with your blaster's new range. You were making shots you would have had to use physics to make before. Emily's blaster is about as strong as yours, too. between the three of you, the ambush attempt is easily foiled.

Finally, you approach the Jungles narrow entryway. The time is 4:58, and what appears to be 50 zombies have massed for a charge, in hopes to wipe you out. You wait just outside the city, check your corners, change into a huge crescent shape, and begin the slow march in.

As of yet, you have not seen a battle like the one that just happened.

NERF darts and Marshmallows flew through the sky thickly, and it was chaos for a few minutes. Zombie after Zombie came after you and your squad. When the dust settles, and you check on everything...

The Humans are regrouping.

The Agency is shattered. Only 3 remain standing Kyle has been tagged. The Operatives have fared a little better, losing only 2 more members. Mike and Rachel are still standing. But closer to home...

"Sorry guys, my time is up, see you on the other side."

Max tosses Andrew his blaster, and walks over to the zombies, before shouting "SHIT!" in addition, Hong dejectedly puts his blasters down and walks off to join the zombies. "HOOOOONNGG!" Gus screams. "Sorry little buddy. I'll see you at home. I promise I won't try to bite you, bros."

The Resistance:
Human Members:
Reggie
Gus
Emily
Julie
Andrew

Zombie Members:
Hong
Max

Total casualties appear to be about 15.

Mike looks grimly pissed when you have gathered all of the humans in you zone, marked with Red.

"The zombies still have 6 of the flags. Reggie, your squad and My squad are the only ones that can reasonably get through whatever guards the zombies left."

the fifteen of you move quickly into the zombie side of the map. Gus is PISSED. Julie is trying to remind him that cures exist, and that we can revive Hong and Max when he get them. Emily sticks closer to your side. Andrew hoists Max's rifle.

There appears to be about 20 zombies in this courtyard, lurking around the three chalk circles. roll 3d20+7, please.

Powered by fury, you and your companions are able to mow down the zombies. many of you grab the flags and run them back to your team's welcoming embrace.

"There better be a cure drop soon, thats all I can say" Gus mutters.

"Good work, Resistance." Mike says. "Now, The Operatives and AB are going to watch this until we win the mission. I suggest the rest of you get out of here, before the zombies respawn. We'll hole up in the DC until it closes, the zombies won't be able to sustain their whole horde that long.

Thanks for playing guys. This has been a really fun weekend of writing this shit.

In the meantime, I would love to know what you want to see more of, less of, and who best partner is.

Thank you again guys!

I'm hoping to get a rhino fire or Vulcan by the end of this. Full heavy gunner mode, with belts of darts covering our torso.

Mod the heavy gun to have rocket launchers as well, in case we encounter a tank.

we better get a nerf nuke to finish off the giant horde, or else we're get eaten
