At the World Martial Arts Tournament, the eight Quarterfinalists are all gathered in front of the audience. The blonde-haired Announcer addresses the crowds with his usual enthusiasm. "Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all for coming. Let's give a big round of applause for these valiant fighters!"

As the audience cheers, you look over at your friends. Krillin seems almost overwhelmed by what he's finally realizing as one of the contenders, Chi-chi bows politely with a reserved smile, and Goku waves frantically with a big, goofy grin on his face. From the top of the arena wall, your brother watches quietly.

"And now we'd like to take a moment to have the fighters tell a little bit about themselves, and I think I know what you're all thinking; what about these kids in the similar outfits? They may be small, but they seemed as determined and tough as any of the other fighters still here. Kids, why don't you let the folks know a little bit more about yourselves?" the Announcer asks as he walks over to you.

You make a wide grin. "I'm Maple Mahogany, one of Master Roshi's students!" you shout as you make a "V" sign with your fingers. The crowds seem surprised by your statement, and Jackie Chun makes a... chuckle of approval, you think?

"We all are. We've trained for months under him, learning a lot and becoming stronger." Chi-chi adds with another bow.

"I'm also a spoooooky nine-year-old space alien! Woooeeeeooo~" you add while waving your arms, with a portion of the crowd chuckling, apparently finding your little outburst sort of adorable. Acer facepalms and seems to grumble your name.

"W-well no wonder you're all so tough!" the Announcer guy exclaims. "Training under a world-famous martial arts master like him, you kids all must be something special. And how about the rest of you?"

Krillin, Chi-chi, and Goku all give their introductions, the announcer wondering if Goku's tail is real, which the boy demonstrates by... dropping his pants and showing everyone, to the audience's amusement. The other fighters all give their own little stories, Nam explaining the help and generosity of King Chappa, Yamcha stating he's friends with Goku, your brother, and you, while Jackie Chun, after explaining that he's not Master Roshi, but rather his cousin, grabs the microphone and... starts singing and dancing. Goku immediately joins him.

You stare at them for a moment. You can't help it. You immediately join in, singing and dancing in unison with Goku and your Master's supposed cousin. The crowds love it, while it perplexes brobro, Chi-chi, and Krillin, and most of the rest of the fighters there. You do seem to notice King Chappa cracking a little smile. After you three are done, the Announcer takes back the microphone.

"W-well, thank you for that, Mr. Chun. Now, the quarterfinals will be the last series of fights of the day. Tomorrow, the semi-finals and the grand finale of the Tournament will take place. The first match of the quarterfinals will begin shortly, with Maple against Krillin."

Your bald friend looks at you with determination in his eyes. "I'm not going down without a fight, Maple. You better be careful."

"She's tougher than she looks, Krillin! Don't let your guard down!" Acer shouts from the top of the wall before hopping down, leaving with the rest of the fighters.

"I won't." Krillin states, then shakes your hand. "May the best fighter win."

"All right kids, are you ready?" the Announcer asks as you both take your stances. "Begin!"

Krillin lunges at you, apparently going all-out.

You rush right back at him, taking the first attack, a fist to your shoulder, and quickly knee him in the gut. Krillin staggers for a moment, but uses the close range to deliver a kick to your head. As you back up, Krillin lunges again, this time grabbing you by the head and locking it to deliver a few kicks of his own to your gut, before you elbow him in the jaw to break out of the hold and kick at his leg. It connects, and Krillin moves back. Then, Krillin takes to the air and tries to dropkick you, but you move aside and manage to deliver a powerful right hook to his face. You both take some distance, then dash to deliver a cross-counter.

"Unbelievable, these fighters are giving it their all, but neither seems to be giving up their relentless assault!"

Krillin tries to grab you by the arms and throw you, but you use the leverage to instead throw him, sprinting to where he lands and unleashing a strong series of blows to the boy's torso. Krillin this time takes to the air again, staying up there to catch his breath. As you pursue, Krillin makes sure to move out of the way, now clearly on the defensive, avoiding you as much as he can. He lands, smiling, wiping some sweat from his brow, then takes a stance again.

You take your own stance and focus your ki. If you do this right, you'll be able to end this in one blow. Krillin watches you almost nervously. You hear Chi-chi cheering for you from the top of the wall, Acer cheering Krillin on, Goku apparently just watching with the biggest smile on his face. Then you say it, "JAN! KEN!"

"Feh, a simple technique." you hear Jackie Chun state. Oh what he doesn't apparently know...

"ROCK!" you shout as you thrust with your fist, Krillin attempting to block only for him to realize you've stopped your fist a centimeter short, but the added ki to the attack knocks him back. "SCISSORS!" you shout, Krillin attempting to block that only for shockwaves to strike him in the face, leaving him dazed. With a finishing shout of "PAPER!" you charge your palm with ki, sending Krillin flying out of the ring and colliding with Baragon in the crowds. He's out of bounds. He's SO out of bounds.

"Krillin has been knocked clear out of the ring! MAPLE MAHOGANY IS THE WINNER!"

The crowds start cheering your name as the golden three-headed dragon and Baby Gamera help Krillin stand up. He sighs, but looks up at you and smiles, then flies into the ring. "You beat me, Maple. Good match." Krillin says with a bow. The two of you walk inside, Goku and Chi-chi congratulating you as your brother goes to Krillin. Jackie Chun approaches you, a worried expression on his face.

You give a sly grin and shake your finger. "I'll tell you, but not right now. Perhaps after the Tournament, or if you teach me something cool..."

"Something cool, eh?" the old man replies. Then you seem to feel something poke your hair bun. You turn around, and see that it's... Jackie Chun? You look back and he's still there, but... blurry? Whaaaa?

"It's called the Afterimage technique. Handy move in a fight. You leave behind a copy of your... well, let's call it your 'light' while moving at high speeds." Jackie Chun tells you.

"Woooow!" Goku exclaims, then seems to try it himself. "You mean, like this?" The monkey boy then darts around the waiting area, then into the tournament arena, leaving a couple afterimages of himself, to Jackie Chun's shock. Goku finally comes to rest on top of the man's head, tail wagging happily.

As Nam heads past your group and heads towards the arena. You look at Goku, then give the technique a shot yourself. You move quickly, faster than most untrained eyes can register, and try to leave behind... you guess some of your ki? Just a little bit. You manage it easily, making almost as many copies as Goku does. Jackie Chun is shocked, to say the least.

Your brother, in what seems to be a bit of sibling one-upmanship, tries it next, and doesn't seem to quite get it as well as you do, but eventually manages it. Chi-chi, however, manages it even easier, then heads to the arena while leaving an afterimage that's waving at you all. Krillin tries it, but seems too weak to fully master the technique. He states he'll try it again after some rest. Finally, even Yamcha gives it a go, figuring it out at the same rate as Acer does.

"Tha... that..." Jackie Chun stutters, then shakes his head. "Kids these days pick things up too dang quickly."

"Well, so about the Jan Ken. I just added some ki to the attack to give it a few shockwaves, 's all. Much harder to block." you tell him. "Goku can do it too."

"Yep!" the boy says, still on the old man's head. "Maple figured it out first though."

"You can do it, Chi-chi!" you shout from the top of the wall, your brother cheering her next to you.

"Don't let your guard down, Nam!" King Chappa gives a shout, then chuckles.

The man gives a respectful bow, Chi-chi doing the same, and the two quickly start their match. Nam tries to stay on the offensive, but Chi-chi's smaller size and greater speed prevents him from landing a solid hit on her. Chi-chi doesn't drop her guard, though, and manages to hold off Nam's strikes, landing a few solid hits of her own. The more Nam attacks, the more Chi-chi holds her ground, eventually wearing the man down. Nam jumps backwards, then takes to the air, jumping high into the sky. Chi-chi for a moment considers pursuing him, but decides against it and waits for him to strike.

"Cross Arm Dive!" Nam shouts as he comes screeching towards the ground. At the last possible minute, Chi-chi catches him, to the man's amazement, and throws him upwards, taking to the air and kicking Nam to the ground. As Nam struggles to get up off the ground, Chi-chi again takes a defensive stance, limbs shaking. The Announcer counts to 4, when Nam shocks everyone by declaring that he surrenders. Chi-chi walks over to him, wearily, and helps the man stand, asking if he's sure. Ne nods in agreement, and the two help each other leave the arena as Chi-chi is declared the winner.

"Hmm... I see." Jackie Chun mutters, eyebrow raised as the two come inside the waiting area, both Chi-chi and Nam limping slightly.

"Chi-chi, are you ok?" Acer asks her, helping both the girl and Nam sit down. Chi-chi nods, wiping some sweat from her brow.

"You seem to be having trouble walking, and why'd you give up, Nam?" you ask them both.

"Haa... one is related to the other. The Cross Arm Dive is supposed to put someone who is hit by it out of commission for eight to ten days. The girl took the attack head on, and while the force of the attack seems to have hurt her, the injuries are minor." Nam explains, Chi-chi catching her breath and relaxing. "Hah hah... I do not stand a chance of defeating her. I find no shame in admitting that. Master Roshi's training seems to be even greater than what is rumored about it."

"Thank you, sir." Chi-chi says with a smile.

"A good night's rest is probably all you will need to be back to your full strength, young one." Nam admits. The Announcer then calls Goku and Yamcha forward, and the two head out, bumping fists. Chi-chi says she'll sit and rest, Acer claiming he'll stay, as Krillin heads out to watch. Nam and King Chappa converse with one another, Jackie Chun talking with them as well.

"I'm much stronger than I was before, Goku. And I've got plenty of new tricks to use." Yamcha says with a confident smirk, taking his stance.

You float up with your head poking up over the wall, Krillin doing the same as you both cheer Goku on, Bulma clearly cheering him on in the audience. The two rush at each other, a flurry of strikes coming at one another. It's readily clear that Goku has the advantage, while Yamcha seems to be fighting smart. They both take to the air, Goku charging up a Kamehameha and firing it at Yamcha, only for him to realize he hit an afterimage. Yamcha strikes Goku on the head from above, sending the boy crashing to the ground. But when Yamcha tries to deliver a divekick to the boy, he's surprised by not only the afterimage on the ground, but a second one from where Goku seemed to have leapt to, the monkey boy thwacking Yamcha on the back of the skull with his tail.

"Wow, they're really going all-out." Krillin states in surprise. "I didn't know Yamcha was this strong."

"Come on Goku, you can do it!" you shout, pumping your arm in the air.

Goku then goes for the Ki Jan Ken, landing solid blows on Yamcha but not knocking him down, instead the man using it as an opportunity to counter with his Wolf Fang Fist. The two fighters back up, Yamcha clearly more exhausted than Goku. Then, the young man smiles. "Heh... figured I'd have to use this soon..." he tells Goku, then puts his hand up, palm mostly flat. Suddenly, energy seems to build up around his hand, forming into a sphere. "Haaaaa... ha! Spirit Ball!" Yamcha shouts, then throws the blast at Goku. the monkey boy dodges at first, but doesn't register the attack RETURNING and striking him in the back of the head. Yamcha seems to somehow direct the attack to keep striking Goku, until the he starts to rely on the Afterimage technique to avoid it and Yamcha. The young man keeps barely missing Goku, until finally his own technique smacks himself in the face, Goku quickly firing a Kamehameha follow-up and knocking Yamcha out of bounds.

"L-ladies and gentlemen, Goku is the winner!" the Announcer declares, Goku helping his friend up. Yamcha and him then again share a fist bump, and walk back into the waiting area.

"Awesome job, Goku! You did great!" you tell him, shaking the boy's hands.

"Thanks Maple!" he says in return, looking as both Jackie Chun and King Chappa head towards them, first congratulating Goku as well, then turning to Yamcha.

"I must admit, that was a flashy technique there, Yamcha." the old man declares.

"Thanks, Master Roshi." Yamcha says with a grin.

"I'm not my cousin you nincompoop. Here..." The man produces a chart, showing himself and Master Roshi. "This enough for you?" A grunt from Yamcha makes it clear that it isn't. The old man shrugs it off, and then heads to the arena, followed by King Chappa.

"I guess I still need some practice with the Spirit Ball." Yamcha admits, turning to Goku.

"Where did you pick that up anyw- wait, don't tell me." Acer starts, then seems to figure it out himself. "Amuro?" Yamcha nods.

"We're gonna go get some food, anyone want anything?" you ask. Krillin, Chi-chi, and Acer just ask for some drinks, while Yamcha decides he's coming with you and Goku on another food run. The two talk amongst themselves, Yamcha explaining, more than once, about the robot show and how he was inspired to make his new technique. His technique is interesting, but he keeps the explanation vague.

Upon arriving at the food stands, you notice a slightly familiar voice, and then notice the much more familiar hulking figure it belongs to. Goku notices it as well, and with a shout of "Eighter!" he runs over to the android and hugs him. The android then congratulates Goku on his match, and explains that he and another person arrived after the rainfall stopped. When you inquire about the other person, you're greeted by a young girl, about your height, with red hair.

You undo your hairbun, then give a little spin. You then puff out your chest slightly, and point to the sky, then at yourself. "I am Maple, the last hope of a dead race. I was sent to this planet to show it the values of TRUTH, JUSTICE, AND THE PLANET PLANT WAY!"

The other redhead stares at you for a moment as Goku claps. "See? I told you she was really funny sometimes."

You then pull Goku aside and nudge him in the arm, a cheeky grin on your face. "You sly monkey, I didn't know you had a girlfriend already."

Goku looks at you blankly, confused. "What's a girlfriend?"

...or not. "Ah, well... uh. Nevermind."

"It is good to see you again, Maple." Eighter states.

"Hey, I remember you, you helped them take out that giant robot." Yamcha exclaims. "How've things been?"

"Thankfully peaceful at Jingle Village. We saw Goku's match on television, and Suno asked if we could fly down here and watch. Her parents agreed so long as I kept her safe."

As you buy the drinks for everyone, quickly getting your hairbun together again, Goku stuffing his face with food, you and your group head back to the waiting area. You find everyone shocked as you arrive.

"Okay, just what is going on here?" you grumble, flying up. Then you see it. King Chappa is out of bounds... holding Jackie Chun's hair. Or, wig, it seems. The old man looks up and notices you, then bows his head in resignation. Yamcha seems to shout "I KNEW IT!" and jump into the air.

"Well. You found it out. I am who I am, and I'm certain you folks know it well enough as-is." the old man states with a sigh, putting on his trademark glasses. "I am Master Roshi, the Turtle Hermit."

"So... why'd you disguise yourself? I mean, you didn't exactly fool everyone, Master." you inquire with a raised eyebrow. "Was anyone genuinely fooled by the disguise?" Goku raises his hand with an honest smile, Krillin giving a so-so shrug, Chi-chi stating she thought she was supposed to stay quiet about it.

Roshi sighs. "I didn't want to attract too much attention, first. Seems that backfired, though. Second... I wanted to make sure you kids didn't give up on Martial Arts so easily. Especially you two, Maple and Goku. You've got the whole world ahead of ya' and yet you're already so close to the top. I wanted you to keep striving, even if that meant inventing someone, a goal to try to reach. Make you think there's always someone better out there-"

"Oh, I knew that already." you tell him, Acer nodding. "Kinda figured we were all pretty strong, even if we're not quite the strongest. Doesn't mean we're gonna give up, when we're done, right guys?"

The other students give a resounding shout of "Right!" Roshi smiles, a tear rolling down his cheek. At the day's closing ceremony, it's announced that the next matches tomorrow will begin at 10:30 AM. Your Master then takes your entire group to dinner, including Bulma's entourage, the Ox King, and Suno and Eighter.

"So, about your sister and Man-Wolf..." you ask Roshi, trying to ignore the growing pile of plates at Goku's side of the table. "Can you tell us a bit about them?"

"My sister Baba is a fortuneteller. She can make very accurate predictions about the world. However, they can only be obtained one of two ways: beating her elite group of fighters, some of which are previous World Martial Arts Champions, or paying ten million Zenni."

"T-t-ten million?!" Yamcha exclaims, about half the group present gawking as well.

"Aaaare there any exceptions for family?" you inquire, trying to give an innocent, star-eyed look.

"None." Roshi states plainly, finishing his rice. On the other side of the table, Chi-chi and Suno were apparently betting on how many plates will be at Goku's side by the time he's done, Yamcha and Acer talking about robots with Eighter, and Bulma fiddling with her Scouter.

"So, what's she like? Does she teach any magic?" you continue to prod.

"She can be a cranky old crone most of the time, but she means well and has even made her fighters go easy on some of the more desperate people to come across her path, if their intentions are pure. She's even less willing to take on students than I am, however, so I doubt you'd learn anything from her directly without a hefty price attached." Roshi states, finishing his beer.

After dinner, with Goku giving the rest of his money to help pay for his rather significant part of the bill, and even Bulma pitching in, you head back to your hotel for a bit of an early rest. It's a big day tomorrow, and by the end of it, you might be champion... it's a lot to weigh on your mind.

You're going to need to stay focused on the task at hand. You get up out of the covers of your bed, careful not to disturb anyone with the noise, and do something you haven't really done much before: meditate a bit. At first it's hard to tune out Goku's snoring, but eventually it just becomes white noise. You focus, looking inwardly. So much has happened since you arrived on Earth eight months ago, but you've come to appreciate the planet, its people, its mysteries, its bizarre, good-natured, naive Saiyan boy you've become friends with. Hah, what a strange, wonderful time it's been.

You then start to feel... something. It seems to be... yourself? That's a strange thing to think. You feel... stronger. Huh. Maybe it's all the fighting? It's paying off even more than the training was! Heh, yeah, that must be it.

Finally feeling tired enough to sleep, you rest soundly, some implanted memories flooding in again alongside real ones. Standing out are Izumi's more... motherly moments with you and Acer, the look of genuine joy on ghost dad's face when you and your brother finally "awakened."

"Maple."

Huh. That's strange. That's Goku's voice.

"Maple!"

There it is again. How biz-

"Maple wake up!"

"UWAH!" you shout, eyes wide as you jump out of bed.

"It's 9:30, we gotta get some breakfast before the tournament starts." Goku tells you. Yeesh, couldn't wait for five more minutes. After you get some food in you and are properly dressed for the next few rounds, you race your friends and Master there. Still about 40 minutes until your match starts. What should you do?

You decide to wander around a little bit, Acer following you. He mentions the promise to Launch you made, wondering what she's up to now. You still feel a bit worried if her angry side is still going to be trouble, but you hope that she's learning to control herself better. Bulma finds you and tells you something interesting: she picked up another high Power Level on the Scouter, sitting at 650, with the 1030 one having visited it often since last night. That's something interesting.

You mention to your brother about exploring the Earth on your own after the Tournament, Goku appearing out of almost nowhere and stating that he's been considering that too, after talking with Master Roshi, who is more than approving of the idea. Goku also mentions that he'd like to look for his grandpa's Dragon Ball when they're working again. Bulma states she'd be more than happy to talk technology with you again, and even offers to let you and Acer stay at Capsule Corp for a while. Lot of options there...

Finally, you hear the Announcer guy calling to the crowds, asking for you and Chi-chi to head to the arena. It's time for your match. You rush back to the grounds and do some stretches, your friend appearing shortly after, giving a respectful bow.

"Ladies and gentlemen, these two young girls are about to face off in the first semi-final match of the World Martial Arts Tournament! Let's all give them a big round of applause for making history by not only some of the few ladies who've reached this point, but also being among the youngest fighters to ever make it this far!"

The crowds cheer like wild, some picking sides. The Ox King is certainly rooting for his daughter, while Bulma and Yamcha are rooting for you. You turn to your friend and smile. "You ready, Chi-chi? You feel good?"

"I'm more than ready, Maple." she states with a bow. "Even if I don't win this round, that's just another thing for me to strive for." She takes a fighting stance, you doing the same.

"Have any plans afterwards?" you ask your friend.

She smiles. "Finish up on training, maybe stay with my daddy for a while, maybe go out and explore the world a bit."

"Fighters ready? Begin!"

You decide to keep your guard up, best not to exert yourself, especially with the match after this one. Chi-chi comes at you far more carefully than Krillin did, trying to make her blows count. And despite the gap in strength, she's keeping up fairly well, much better than you were expecting. As you try to block and push aside her strikes, a few of them manage to break your defenses, a palm strike to the face, a knee to the gut, and even a successful grapple and throw.

You stay on your feet, and finally, you find the right moment for a counterattack, landing several solid blows on Chi-chi. This forces her to bring some distance between you and herself, which she accomplishes via a few carefully planned afterimages. Chi-chi then smiles at you. "You know Maple, I have to really thank you. I'd never have come this far if you and Acer didn't take me along with you." She then makes a pose you're all too familiar with. After all, you taught her it. Ki builds up at the tip of her finger, and you hear her start. "GEIST..."

She knows better than that... you dodge out of the way right as she fires. However, that seems to be what she wants you to do, as she prepares another Geist Magnum as soon as you try to get into close range with her. With but a split second before she hits you, you knock her hands upwards, and she fires into the sky. You strike into her side and then prep a quick Geist Magnum of your own, sending her flying into the Tournament arena's wall, where she collapses onto the ground.

"I'm glad you've gotten stronger, Chi-chi, but don't overdo it." you say, wiping some sweat away. That was a close one. The count starts, and reaches 7 before Chi-chi can stand on her own again. She's tired, on the defensive, but she's not giving up just yet.

Before she can really defend herself, you go on the offensive. You land a series of powerful blows, a couple arm thrusts to the gut, a powerful kick to the leg that knocks her off balance, and you finish it off with a grab and a toss, throwing her out of bounds. Chi-chi tries to stop herself, but it's too late, and she collapses on the grassy ground outside the ring. You yourself sit down, panting slightly.

The Announcer makes it official. "Chi-chi is out of bounds! MAPLE WINS!"

"Ha... hhah... looks like I'm not strong enough yet..." Chi-chi enters back into the arena, and then helps you up, holding your arm up as the crowds cheer your name. She then hugs you and walks back inside the waiting area, your friends congratulating her on putting up a good fight, and then congratulating you on your victory. Goku and Master Roshi then look at each other, both smiling. Krillin gives Goku a few series of fist-bumps and wishes him the best.

You put your hand on Goku's shoulder and tell him " You better be able to fight me in the final round!"

"I'll see you there, Maple!" he says with a thumbs-up, a determined smile on his face. Master Roshi smiles back at you both, and enters the ring, Goku following.

"Can't believe it's almost over." Acer thinks aloud, helping Chi-chi sit down.

"Part of it has felt like it's been more intense than our training, but... it's been so much fun!" Krillin says.

You sit down next to your bald friend and rest. "It really has. And I'm not just saying that 'cause I'm winning. I'm glad with how we've all improved." You look to the ceiling and imagine the starry skies. "Yet there's a big world out there... one among many." you say the last part with almost a whisper. "You have any plans after the Tournament, Krillin?"

"I think I'm gonna stay with Master Roshi for a while. Finish up training, see how things work out from there. Maybe travel a bit too. Not sure what, to be honest." Krillin's expression changes into a thoughtful one, staring at the ceiling as well. As the two of you relax, you hear the sound of Goku and Roshi exchanging tremendous blows, the crowd giving excited cheers. This continues for a while, until you hear Roshi claim he's got a secret weapon.

You slowly float over to the wall of the arena, trying to see what's happening. Master Roshi seems to be charging up an energy attack, though his expression seems almost grim. Goku watches carefully, his guard up. A large portion of the crowd seems to be cheering for him, most notably Bulma's group, Suno, and Eighter. Roshi places his palms forward and shouts "LIGHTNING FLASH SURPRISE!"

Goku tries to move out of the way, but is caught by the attack, which appears to send a dangerous amount of electricity through his body. He shouts out in pain, shouts like you've never heard him shout before. For a moment... you and your friends start to worry. The technique seems excessive, and even Roshi himself seems to be begging Goku to forfeit as he continues the attack. Goku keeps refusing, even when some of his friends in the crowd shout for him to give up, or shout at Roshi to stop the attack.

Krillin, Chi-chi, and Acer look to you. You...

No. Goku's stronger than this, and you know it. You jump up on the wall and shout at the top of your lungs "Don't you dare give up! You're gonna fight me in the final round, Goku! I know you can beat this! T-try using the Kamehameha!"

The rest of your friends look at you in shock, then at each other... then nod. They all start cheering him on with you, to Roshi's complete astonishment. Goku seems to hear you. He lets out a roar and tries to push himself free, a white aura of ki enveloping his body even as the attack continues. He then cups his hands together, charging and firing a Kamehameha wave that results in a massive explosion, momentarily blinding everyone around. Everyone but the Announcer... and Goku, who flies at Master Roshi and lands a powerful blow to his shoulder. The old man staggers, and steps back, unable to believe what he's seeing. Injured but not down, Goku stands before him, the same big, goofy smile on his face. Roshi... starts laughing, so hard that his sunglasses fall off his face.

"You win, Goku." he declares, and walks out of the ring. Everyone is quiet for half a minute, taking in what just happened.

The Announcer finally seems to come to. "L-ladies and g-gentlemen, you heard it here... M-Master Roshi has surrendered and stepped out of bounds, GOKU WINS!"

Goku looks around, hearing the people cheering his name. He picks up and puts on his Master's glasses, and gives a "V" sign. First to the crowds, then to you. He did it.

Congrats, Maple.

Your base Power Level is now 524.

YOU HAVE REACHED LEVEL 1

+1 to all stats

HP: [10]
Ki: [o][o][o][o]
Stamina: [o][o][o][o]
Melee: [+]
Energy: [+][+][+]

You can take 10 solid hits from someone of close to the same Power Level range before going down.

You can preform 4 powerful energy attacks and 4 exhausting maneuvers before you need to rest a bit and recover each.

Your melee attacks have improved slightly and your energy attacks are even stronger than they were before (easier dice rolls vs. opponents of the same tier of strength).

You have 3 additional points to distribute how you see fit, or you can hold off on them for later. QM suggested trait for improvement: Melee.

Now, let's see how the monkey boy did with his rolls this time...

DragonJersey will get what's coming to it.

There are a few ways they can figure out something is up. You or Goku will be the World Martial Arts Champion, and Roshi was acknowledged to be in the Tournament, and you ARE his pupils...

You might encounter the Crane Hermit's brother if a certain someone tries to hire him. He'll want to know what happens after such an encounter.

And then there's the InoShikaCho... let's just say, be wary of suspicious people offering their services to drive away rampaging beasts and charging lots of money for it.

True, but having Crane Hermit's brother run into all 4 at once would be a rude wake up too.

There are also things on Earth far more terrifyingly powerful than you or Goku are right now, and will be for quite some time. Just imagine what'll happen if he ends up mixed up in THAT mess.

Just... try not to rely on her, or her associates.

Oh aren't we due for a meeting with her since we hit level one?
>>
>>40419947

In a lot of ways, better to not rely on her at all. They work of a different set of laws then dragon ball.

>>40419979
Yep. You've got a good chance to meet her on your adventures, and your chances increase greatly once Goku starts Dragon Ball hunting again.

Basically, yes. Really, gag character power should only be used as a last resort. Besides, you're already stronger than canon King Piccolo. What threats could you possibly encounter that would require the help of the robot girl? Heh. Heh. Heh...

Difference between ki, stamina, and energy is what?
>>
>>40420319
Ki is what you use to fuel your energy attacks. The dots indicate how much of an average "special" attack you can use, such as the Kamehameha or one of your own techniques. Since you now have four dots, you can fire four Kamehamehas before you need to spend some time building your ki back up again.

Stamina is for actions that can exhaust you, like overusing the Afterimage technique, or tanking a serious hit, or continuing a relentless barrage of melee attacks for more than one round. You currently can do four such actions before it tires you out completely, and you need time to really catch your breath.

Energy is how strong your energy attacks are and relate to how low the DC gets, especially when facing opponents of similar strength, but also if you can manage to punch above your strength tier with certain powerful moves (think hitting Raditz with a Special Beam Cannon). You can currently do better against an opponent using a Kamehameha than you can with a standard melee combo, if you can get the attack to connect.
