You are Jakdal Zul - and at last, you are fully Sith. Your training was rushed into an overdrive by your dark masters as a consequence of a declaration of open war by the Galactic Republic in response to a series of brutal attacks in which the Sith reclaimed their ancient strongholds - and they didn't stop there. You have been given 24 hours to gather your effects from the Academy and prepare yourself for service to your master, the enigmatic, eccentric Darth Greia.

You've kept mostly to yourself - but you have a few people - call them friends, allies, or tools - who might be worth saying goodbye to.

> [ ] I'm a Sith - I don't need to say goodbye.
> [ ] I should talk to Fynn - a traumatized idealist, and one of the few genuinely trusting people here.
> [ ] I should talk to Telza- my broken rival, who I have bent into what hopefully will be a useful tool.
> [ ] I should speak with the Rodian - he was a worthy foe in the sparring ring.
> [ ] I should speak with my Sith Master, the Kel Dor. He was my teacher, and I owe him this much.
> [ ] I should journey into the tombs of Moraband one last time. I'm a Sith, but who knows how long it will be 'til I see my ancestral homeworld again?

I get the feeling that there's something to do with that Rodian, but so little time, so much to do...

Fynn's been unusually busy lately - and handling a dangerous stolen holocron is just one of the stresses that's been on him. His eyes have dark circles forming under them and you still aren't fully used to their new, blood-colored hue.

"Jak," he says wearily, "I'm glad to see you made it out of that tomb okay. I - " His eyes fall on the carved wood and metal cylinder hanging loosely at your hip. "Is that a lightsaber?"

"I'm Sith." You say. You try to keep cool, but are unable to keep your voice from swelling with pride.

"Sith? Were you commended or - "

"I'm Darth Greia's apprentice." Fynn's eyes widen.

"That's... well, you've beat what I was about to say. As for the holocron, it turns out it was there as a test - heavily monitored, but not by the Sith Masters. I'm being sent to Umbara to serve under the Pyramid of Assassins." His voice has no joy in it.

"Aside from the fact that its species and what it exactly does are all secret, not much." Fynn says. "He's the head of the Pyramid of Sith Advancement, so a natural at sorcery like you should do well under it - whatever 'it' is. I'm supposed to report to the shuttle for Umbara soon, so I guess this is goodbye for now."

"So soon? Didn't we have a week?"

"Don't tell anyone, but if you aren't off the planet in three days, then the 'final trial' is just them taking the people who are set out to be Sith Warriors, handing 'em saber pikes, and siccing them on all the remaining acolytes." Fynn glances at his holocom. "I'm pretty sure I need to go."

"Somehow, I know that - I can feel it, in the Force. These things are drawn to you, events rotate around you like stars being drawn into orbit... I digress. Thank you, Jakdal. I trust you." Fynn hugs you, tightly - whether you want to or not. And then, he's gone.

You hold the lightsaber in your hand - it's weighted oddly, despite your training sword being constructed to imitate it, in hopes of minimizing limb loss during training. The crystal you dredged up from the tomb of Naga Sadow glows with a flickering light - it's red, but unlike the other Sith sabers. Not the red of blood, but red like fire.

You learned some basic modifications in the Academy, and how to use the stations in the practice room. A Sith was expected to make their weapon their own - to personalize it to suit their needs. And you know just what you need...

>>
>>40410230
eeh, good point, should definitely not put the crystal in it if we do make one, the primary advantage of a chakram is that they're a lot easier to use the saber throw technique with, so we'd want a normal saber for mele combat, but it makes a rather good offhand parrying weapon
>>

But why would we choose a throwing weapon when we have to saber duel other Sith? We'd get cut to pieces man

yeah, I was a little overzealous, lightring or not, we'll want a basic saber for melee combat, i'm not gonna try to pull some snowflake staff thing, when our primary weapon is pretty much the force.

It also glows in the dark and makes a fwoosh sound as it does anything at all. If we were to use some kind of telekinetic projectile, we'd use a bomb or custom vibroblade(s). Which we really shouldn't bother with because guns, grenade launchers and missile launchers are a thing already.

Also, poison gas is fun.

The curved hilt is an innovation of the Jedi, created, used, then abandoned - but adopted by the Sith. It's a tool of sword-to-sword combat, and a memory from an age returning: An age where the wielders of the Force made war.

You hold the blade with a steady hand, twirling it - you can feel the dark power of the crystal within, the hatred of the past. You ignite the blade - it's a red-orange, like Moraband's merciless sun. Your weapon is complete. You became Sith a few hours ago, but now do you begin to feel the magnitude of what that would imply creep into you.

War has emptied the library - acolytes not yet made Sith are drilling endlessly in the practice ring, rushing frantically to their deaths in the tombs, or even hiding, hoping to slip in with the next batch of would-be Sith.

The old ways of the Force, the texts on the lower levels said, are best preserved in the repositories of knowledge called holocrons - but that isn't the only way. You find, sitting on the shelves, a copy of the journal of one of the Old Sith, meticulously preserved (In no small part due to the librarian and her severe stance on punishing those who damaged any text).

"Read the teachings of Darth Vilghast, initiate - not for a Master, nor any benefactor. Read solely for yourself, and the power will be yours...

...your battle is with the Force. It will fight you, lash out at you - but your emotions can bring it to heel. Jedi claim petty morality as a cause for their crusade, but they flow downhill like water, awash in Force and seeking to end the quest of the Sith, which is freedom: from death, from destiny...

...and with your vow set as Wonoksh Qyâsik nun, and Sith'Ajak set as your shield you may broach the outer circle of the alchemic arts..."

It becomes obvious that Darth Vilghast was providing you with a detailed record of his descent into madness, and his text quickly dissolves into rambling in Old Sith.

You have time, however, to translate at least one passage - and any incantations or arcana that may be therein contained...

"This is the leaf born by the tree of shadows - Bane said the Force was not fire, but poison. Let your sword be quenched in this venom, then and let it make its mark upon your skin..."

Sith Alchemy is notoriously difficult, and esoteric even among a society of people regarded by the known galaxy as little more than wicked mages who spend their lives awash in secrets.

Still, you begin to understand how the Force flows through living things without minds - Vilghast's genius shines through his madness, and he sheds much light on the topic of how plants and even bacterial life-forms interact with the Force.

With time, you could refine this understanding into an outright manipulation or disruption of cellular structure - but that would take practice and dedication. Still, a war will provide opportunities to practice.

After this little project, the sun begins to hang low in the sky.

You wonder, briefly, if this will be the last time you see that chiss girl. You hope so. Darth Greia's office is much the same as when you left it - the desk is still unfolded into the operating table, but the cadaver on it has been reduced to a mess of red and wires hooked to various measuring devices.

"Apprentice!" The creature says, looking up from his work. "I assume you're ready to leave."

"Yes, Master."

"Good - I've arranged for you to get a proper Sith tunic so you can stop going around in that tattered tomb-diver getup."

While your acolyte uniform was stiff and dusty-smelling, your dark outfit is light and comfortable, made to allow free movement. The sash has a belt clip that allows you hang your saber visibly at your side - but you can also tuck it up your sleeve.

As you and Greia walk to his unusually large shuttle, several acolytes fall in line with you. They were ones who had struggled, and some who you had thought dead - you sense that they're weak in the Force.

"Master," you motion over your shoulder to the acolytes. "Are you going to share your food, or will I have to cook for myself?" Darth Greia lets out a laugh - harsh, metallic, almost artificial.

"These weaklings could never be Sith - but Force sensitives are rare enough that I don't want to waste them. They got a stay of execution by volunteering for live experimentation."

"Will they live?"

"Some - maybe. They're used to test drugs, surgeries, and are part of several of my pet projects."

>>40411517
>>40411521
>>40411543

"Where are we going to?" you ask as you board a metallic ramp into the ship. Spindly, multi-limbed droids twist about, preforming myriad tasks. Greia taps the holoterminal, and an image of a planet appears - most of its surface is covered in water, and smoke hazes the atmosphere from several volcanoes.

"The planet Sho'al - the only one in its system holding sentient life. It's been off the known hyperspace routes and keeping to itself, but my augurs recently received a vision of it - and its inhabitants. This is the perfect opportunity for you to get some experience."

"Experience with what?"

"Many Sho'ali natives have powerful connections to the force. They aren't warriors, Sith, or Jedi - rather, they instead use it to as an instrument of perception and transformation. Our Dark Lord has assigned me to research a difficult project, a secret - and we need to convince the Sho'ali to help the Sith. This will bring us into conflict with the Jedi, but things will be handled covertly. I can brief you when we reach orbit."

"Can I have an acolyte to experiment on?"

"I brought a spare for just that reason - but you'll have to do something at least a little bit more productive than torturing him to death. Remember - if you break it, you have to replace it."

Your 'test subject' for the route to Sho'al is a young male Twi'lek, who has been mostly silent.

"My lord," he asks, "What did you need me for?"
