This is Devil May Cry Quest, a quest centered around the life of a young man who lives in rural Pennsylvania. It is set several years after the events of DMC4. You play as Duncan, a 19 year old man who works as Devil Hunter, and lives in an income-based apartment, alone. You were raised by catholic nuns for years after your parents left you on the doorstep of the church. None of the nuns know who left you or why you were left behind. After being adopted, you moved from home to home regularly when your foster parents would frequently have some form of tragedy strike them. Your two best friends are guys you went to highschool with, Robbie and Ted. They work menial jobs. Your greatest pleasure in life is hunting Devils. Robbie is a gruff factory worker who you've known since you moved to this town of Dunwich two years older, Someone reliable who, like you, enjoys relaxing with a drink after a tough day's work. Your friend Ted is the more comedic of the three, and has a huge fascination with old horror films. Between the three of you, there's a clear imbalance since you've gained your powers.

You live an extraordinary life. There are many odd aspects about you. Stark white hair, and an extraordinary physical strength and reaction speed. These powers awakened several days ago, when you absorbed the soul of a demon possessing a man who lived across the hall. You've only grown stronger since, and even earned your sword named Abandon after a journey to Hell. Who knows what could happen if you actually had a little motivation?

Votes end after 10 minutes. Write-ins are an option, but stupid suggestions will be ignored at my discretion. Have fun, and try not to get everyone you know killed. Or others, for that matter.

After being struck by the red haired Devil's lightning, you were unconscious for several hours. The fire encompassing the forest that he had caused dried up the pool of the blood, and the remains of the bodies that the Banshee had killed were turned to ash in the blaze. You would have suffered an intense pain as well, if it wasn't for the townspeople bravely charging in to find and save the young Devil Hunter who had come to save them. You awoke several later hours in a bed at the Inn, and found your body stiff and unresponsive at first. You looked down at your chest to see a charred black center, wrapped in bloody bandages. You suddenly sit up despite the pain, and quickly scan the room for your possessions. While your simple black shirt was completely annihilated by the blast, you sigh in relief seeing that Abandon is resting against a wall, and your Colt on the nightstand.

You take these weapons, and head downstairs to find a crowd of people packed into the Inn. Their heads all swivel in your direction, and stare at you quietly. You see Murial behind the counter, both hands folded up to her face, concealing a quiet gasp. You smile, and give everyone a lighthearted wave before walking over to the counter, feeling their eyes following you. You lean on the counter, and wink at Murial. "Still got my guitar case?" She quickly nods, and places it on the counter before quietly speaking. "Did you..did you do it, then?"

>A. Yep. Job's done. Thanks for taking care of me.
>B. I did, but there was another Devil there who caused this fire.

KHORNE DEMANDS THE LIGHTNING FAGGOT'S SKULL AS SACRIFICE!

Next time we see him, we have to inform him on the finer points of him being a bitch.
>>
You nod, placing your sword back in your case. "I did. The Banshee's gone, but there was another Devil there. A man with red hair, and a sword of his own. He attacked me, and put this hole in my chest. Also started the fire. It burnt up all the evidence of the Banshee, and the...remains of the townsfolk." The woman gasps, taking a step back. "It was him, that strange one that came in here. I told 'em that you'd already taken the job, but he told me to pay it no mind. You say he was a Devil..?" You sling your case over your back, and turn to walk away. "Yep. Saw him turn into one right before my eyes, just before he attacked. I don't think he wants anything with you folks, though. You're all safe."

Sighs of relief come from all around, and you continue on your way before the same man, with the grey beard, stands and stops you, stepping in front of your path. He's looking at you in wonder. "We're all more grateful than we could ever show you. You've saved this town from an evil we never even thought could be real. I have to ask. I have to know, it's been eatin' at me since I saw you with that hole in your chest. Are you an Angel, sir? Sent by God?"

You shake your head, and continue on your way. "Nothing like that. Just a man like any other. Or, at least I used to be." You turn, stopping at the door and chuckling. "Nowadays, I'm not really sure what I am. I don't think it matters much either, though. See ya' folks." You swing the door shut, and hop onto your bike, firing it up. As it roars to life, you hear Murial behind you shouting. She runs up, and places a fistful of dollar bills into your hand. It's probably about a thousand dollars all together. She nervously brushes the hair out of her face. "Sorry that this is all we could gatha', it's what the townsfolk could spare. I hope it's enough." You smile, give her a thumbs up, stuffing the cash in your pocket and kicking up dust you and your vehicle roared down the road, leaving the town in wonder.

It seems to have some sort of effect on it, at the very least. Dante in DMC1 couldn't access his until he had Alastor, but I wouldn't say it's absolutely required. This guy wouldn't be able to do his without it though, I like to think there are levels of mastery with DT and Alastor bumps him up just to the Novice level with it.

You head back to your home and stuff the cash under your mattress, heading into the bathroom to check out the wound on your chest. Removing the bandage, you can clearly see partway into your own midsection. It's sort of gross, but you can see it healing slowly even just standing here. Freaky devil powers. You relax for a little while, flicking on the television and getting some pizza and bear from your fridge. It's absolutely stocked full, every shelf pushed to the brim. You sit down on your couch, looking onto your cellphone to see a text from Ted, saying that he'd picked up your coat for you. Awesome.

Flipping open your laptop, you check your messages on your website. The first thing you notice is a new one, from the same Canadian town. Apparently the situation there has grown more urgent, and they're pleading for you to come immediately. You sigh, feeling a bit tired, but knowing that people there might need your help. You think about how bad the town full of Zombies was, and what could have happened if you would have ignored that situation and picked another job first. Seeing as there isn't any other choice, you text Ted that you're coming over to pick up your clothes and heading out again. You put on a black T-shirt, and go on over.

A short ride later, Ted comes out of his own apartment complex and hands the jacket to you. You throw it on, finding it to be a perfect. There's a pocket big enough for you to slip your Colt into as well, so now you don't have to tuck it near your crotch anymore. Ted crosses his arms, and frowns. "Going out again already? Shouldn't you rest a bit?"

You shrug. "Don't need to. I feel fine. I figure the ride up will be enough, it's gonna take me a few days to get there. People need me right now. Even if I do feel like shit when I get there, this job would be boring if it got too easy, dontcha think?" Ted scoffs, and takes a step back, shaking his head in disbelief. "If you say so man." You think for a moment, and pull some money out of your pocket. You hold it out, and he looks at you curiously.

"What if I give you this to drive me up there? I can sleep on the way." He shakes his head, looking surprisingly serious for Ted. "No thanks. You might be fearless, but I'm not going near some crazy Canadian demon infested town. I'm just a guy. If you want to tackle this, go ahead." You shrug, starting up your bike again and waving, speeding up the road to Canada.

A few days later, you approach the town from the south side and head to the address of your employer. You pull up to the small white building, made of paneled wood. It looks quite old fashioned, something a grandmother would live in. The town itself is fairly large and old, some of the roads being cobblestone instead of concrete, and many of the houses are boarded up. There's also light snowfall, and frost on the ground. It's extremely chilly, but you find yourself comfortable in your coat. You get off the bike, carrying your guitar case and walking up to the door and knocking on it lightly. A few minutes later, a mousy man wearing round glasses with messy black hair opens the door, and his eyes go wide. He looks you up and down from his cracked door. "You're him, then?"

You nod. "Yep. I'm the guy."

He shuts the door and undoes several locks, and lets you in the building. It's dusty and neglected, smelling of decay. You look around slowly, as he makes his way over to the kitchen, where a 20. gauge shotgun is laying against a wooden chair. He's pouring a pot of coffee, and turns to look at you. "Oh- I'm sorry, would you like a cup? You can take a seat if you wish." You do feel a bit sleepy. "Sure. Sounds great. No sugar or cream, need a little jolt at the moment." He hands you a white mug and you take your seat. "Nice place you got here."

The small man chuckles, rubbing his face and sitting down across from you. "It used to be, before things went to Hell. This was my mother's house, I've only recently moved here as she had passed and I was the only one alive to receive. I couldn't think to sell this place, it's been in our family for years." You nod, not really being empathetic towards the sentiment. You take a sip of your drink. "Right. Well, how about you start with the basics then. What makes you think that Devils are doing these murders?" You notice that his hands start to shake as he raises his drink to his lips, and sets it down gently. He stares down into the dark liquid, organizing his thoughts before looking up. "I don't have any proof, exactly. I've been investigating on my own, around town, and all that I can tell is that they're here. Among us. The townsfolk. The demons are people!" He spills a bit of his coffee, hands shaking violently as he sets it down and starts to clean up, sighing.

You lean forward, resting your elbows on the table. "What do you mean, they're people? Like they're disguised? The message you sent me said that the killings were being done by something similar to animals. Like they were ripped apart." The mousy little man is shaking still, clearly growing more and more distressed as this conversation goes on. He shuts his eyes, thinking of what to say next. He nearly spits his words out. "Yes, that's exactly it! They're beasts, all of them!" You shake your head, wondering if this guy is just crazy. Then again, the first demon that you met would have made you sound crazy too if you had gone to the police. You decide to give him a fair chance.

"Look, by how nervous you are, I can tell what you're going through. You've tried to get help before, right? Probably said you were nuts?" He bites his lip, nodding slowly, but not responding. You frown. "Hey, look at me bud!" His head snaps up, and he's staring you down with terror in his eyes. You can see how clearly on his face how desperate this man is, and you wonder what he's gone through. You continue. "I need you to tell me exactly what you saw. I'm not gonna call you crazy, no matter how out there it is. Let's hear it." He nods his head slowly, rubbing his face before continuing. He's still shaking, but not as heavily. "I was walking home from work one night, when I saw it happening in the ally. I could see it leaning over a body, hear bones crunching. I never thought that the sound of flesh being ripped would sound so wet, but I guess it makes sense with all the blood. Oh God, there was so much blood.."

Cont.

He looks away for a moment, gathering his composure. You urge him on. "What'd you see?" He looks back. "Some sort of monster, but it wasn't just that. There were also people. Standing around it, laughing. Men and women. Six or seven of them. I hadn't thought they'd seen me, but..Fucking christ, man! They've been tormenting me ever since! Not even wanting to kill me, just having a fucking laugh!"

You hold up your hand, perplexed. "What are you talking about?" He stands up quickly, rubbing the back of his head and stepping away. "They killed my dog. They've been playing with me whenever I leave my home, throwing rocks and growling from the bushes. It's either growling, or laughter! They know I can't do a goddamn thing about it.." He suddenly whips back around, placing his hands on the table and staring at you with sudden determination. "They're probably listening now, watching. If you tried to leave town now, there's no doubt they'd try to kill you. They killed my fucking dog, man. Been tearing up my mail, just everything under the sun you could think of torture me!" You blink, a bit perplexed. Usually demons seem to have some bigger motive than just messing with people, in your experience. "Well, that certainly is odd. Sounds like they're trying to make you seem crazy. Discredit you if you ever wanted to talk. I guess since you've already gone to the police, it would be odd if you just turned up missing now." He nods rapidly, pointing a limp finger at you. "That's exactly it! That has to be it!" You finish off your drink, and look up.

"So, where should I start if I want to find them?" He paces for a moment, thinking. "You could go to the church. I used to go every Sunday, but they're there. A lot of them. The children there run up to me and howl, the men and women glare with disdain. It's horrible. The Church smells of evil, now. Or you could leave town, they'll probably try to stop you. Or, you could just look around. I'm sure there's evidence here somewhere. They're everywhere, for God's sake!"

Can Don Te be our teammate?

The sun is setting as you ride towards the church, with directions from the mousy man who's name he never told you. It's a little ways out of town, but it doesn't take more than ten minutes to get there. It's down an old dirt road, and rather small with a large steeple pointing to the sky. There are several parked cars outside of it, which is rather odd considering it's a Monday night. You park your bike outside, and sling your guitar case over your should with your gun tucked into your coat, and head inside. When you walk up the stairs and swing open the wooden double doors, the very first thing you notice is the scent of blood. The second thing you notice is a girl in a white choir outfit, with platinum blonde hair speaking to a priest with aged silver hair. The man is tall and bulky, and holding a bible. There are several men and women sitting around the pews, apparently preparing to leave. It seems as though a service just ended and they're cleaning up. When you walk in, everyone in the room turns to look at you for a moment.

Their noses twitch, and all but the girl in the choir outfit and the priest turn back. The two up front approach you, the priest reaching out to shake your hand. He smiles widely, and his grip is strong. "Hello there! I don't believe I've seen you around here before, new?"

Cont.
>>
>>40525806
You nod, looking over at the girl as she pulls the choir gown over her head. What you see next nearly makes you lose all concentration, your attention being pulled towards her like some sort of gravity was commanding you. She's wearing black leggings and long boots, and a puffy black skirt over that. Her blouse is black as well, and cut just a little low. An ample chest and flawless pale skin, as well. The girl's facial features are sharp, and her slightly curled hair hangs down in a way that a single eye is covered. She saunters over to you and the priest as you gawk. You figure it's best to let go of the man's hand and respond by now. "Uh, yeah. Sorta. I'm a writer, history buff sorta guy. I'm looking at local churches in the area for a piece.

The priest laughs boisterously, and the girl crosses her arms over her chest and rolls her eyes at the man as he does so. "Is that so? Well, I'd be glad to give you a brief history lesson." The girl scoffs, and holds out her hand. "Dad, I still need the keys to the house. I've gotta get something from the house once my friends pick me up." The old man nods, and hands her the keys before turning back to you. "Oh, this is my daughter, Katja. You can call me Pastor Will." You grin. "My name's Duncan. Lovely little....congregation that you've got here." Katja chuckles, holding up her hand to her mouth and watching you curiously.

Cont.
>>
>>40525831
The father nods. "Thank you, we've been-" Suddenly, Katja holds up a hand and the man stops speaking, looking off to the side dejectedly with a frown. Well that's odd. She points at your guitar case. "So, you any good with that thing?" You think of Abandon, within it, and look in her direction. "The best." She grins slightly. "Hopefully you'll get to play me a song someday, Duncan."

From behind you, there's a growl. You quickly whip around to see several other young women, one making a claw motion in your direction with a playful growl. You chuckle, turning back to Will and Katja. Her friends call out from behind. "Hurry up! The car's running!" She rolls her eyes again, and walks past you, giving a slight wave. "Bye. Duncan. Bye Dad." As she passes, the scent of fresh flowers wafts up through your nose, and you suddenly feel rather lightheaded. You turn back to the priest. "She always that bossy?" He smiles, nodding his head. "My daughter is hard to resist. Now, you wanted to ask about our church?"

No, I think you did it right.

"Who's" could be used as a possessive since it's his, who being him since we don't know his name.

But fuck me if I know.

"A man who's name is Jim", for instance, works that way, unless my english is as bad as my spanish, which is likely.

You look around the church, finding several others looking at you and quickly turning their heads away again before you smile at the pastor. "Right, Will. I wanted to ask you a little bit about the history of the church." He smiles, and bows his head slightly before going on. "Yes, our lovely little establishment here was built in the late 19th century, it's been here for over one hundred years, it was made when our town was. The men and women of this town have always been extremely dedicated to the Church, although these days it's more like a few dozen followers than everyone. Times change, sadly." You cross your arms, nodding as if you cared in the slightest. The stench of blood continues to bother you greatly. "Right. Awful lot of people for a Monday night congregation, eh padre?"

He smiles. "Ah, yes. That is one thing that I think distinguishes our members from other churches. We have a service here seven nights a week, and it's almost always a full house. We prefer to do things in the evening, our only morning congregations are on Sunday and Wednesday." You widen your eyes slightly as if surprised, although this exactly what you would expect of a freaky Demon cult. "Interesting. And when exactly did you all start killing and harassing people for sport?" The pastor frowns, his head hanging low suddenly as he sighed. "Oh, damn it! You're going to make us do this in here, aren't you? I mean- Hell! We just cleaned up from last night!"

You take a step back, planting your guitar case on the ground and unhinging the latches. The men and women sitting in the pews all stand, and start to chuckle. The priest holds his hands up. "Now now folks, this here's a half-breed. We can't just rip him up like any old whelp!" You pause, looking up. "Half-breed? What are you talking about?" He rolls his eyes. "Oh, come on! Don't try to fool me kid, I'm old enough to know what your rotten blood smells like. Half-breed, half demon!" His lips slowly curl into a grin, and you notice elongated canines. The sounds of bones snapping echoes all across the church, and when you look around, everyone's flesh is warping and their bodies moving in a jerky fashion. Transforming, likely into the monstrosities that your employer had told you of. Fur wraps around their bodies and their snouts stretch out, lips turning black as many of them hunch onto all fours. Many of the men are smaller, and not as imposing as the females who grow into lanky monstrosities. The priest himself simply turns away, walking over to his podium as the creatures slowly form a circle around you, howling and yipping. One of the smaller males leaps at you, and you smack it in the nose with your fist and it skids across the floor. You yank your sword out of the case, and whip your gun from your coat to fill it with bullets. "Sorry, pops. I'm shutting your kennel down."

You leap back to the open doors, and start rapidly firing your gun into everything that comes towards you. The males yelp and screech in pain, and there's about eight of them altogether. The three females however seem only angered by the stinging bullets, and you have to jump back to avoid the swipe of claws.

You land at the bottom of the stairs, and thrust your sword forward with one arm. A female reaches up with her claws to bat it away, smacking the flat side. However, your attack keeps going forward, propelled by your strength. It stabs into the chest of a male who was leaping through the doorway, slicing down his middle and killing him in an instant. You yank the blade back, tucking your gun back into your open coat and gripping Abandon with both hands. The body flies off and crashes into the window of a car, shattering it with the limp body hanging out. The female at the front barks at you, and you swear you can hear a garbled version of "My car!" before it roars and rushes you down. You swing your blade horizontally, slashing in from the left, but it deftly ducks under the attack and pierces your chest with a claw. Taking another jump back for some room, blood pours from the front of your jacket. It hurts, but it's not nearly enough to stop you. It's running at you again, the rest of the monsters pouring from the church and running to the side to flank you. What are you going to do?

>A. Swing your blade vertically, upwards, and try to launch the female wolf into the air
>B. Lunge forward with a mighty stab
>C. Begin spinning on your heel, holding your sword out like a bladed top.
>D. Jump forward and over the charging female wolf, and spin to slash downward as you land.

You smirk, and kick off with a foot as you hold your blade with both hands and begin to rapidly spin in place until you're a bladed blur, dirt and gravel and dust all spraying out in every direction as many of the wolves stop and stare at you curiously. The one who was rushing you can only skid, kicking at the ground as she frantically tries to push away. She doesn't manage to stop, slowing down just enough in front of the storm of blades to make her demise all the more gruesome. The first of the slashes cuts directly into her own mouth, the pained howling echoing across the forest. The next slices further into her mouth, separating the jaw from the head, each slash hacking away again and again until the top of her head comes flying clean off. The other wolves are in awe as you finish your attack, and you stop just in time to see the skull falling down. You shield your eyes from the setting sun as you look up, placing your blade over your shoulder.

"Batter up!"

You smack the furry skull with the flat of your blade, and it strikes a male wolf to your right in the head and sends it flying away, as you pull your gun out and fire off to the left. The wolves rush behind a car for cover, and the tires and glass all explode from the hail of gunfire. A male rushes in from the right, probably the female's mate considering it's fury, but a simple outward stab from Abandom pierces it's body. You turn to the right and sling the body off of your blade, throwing it into a female who was leaping at you from behind. Males rush at you, and you fire your gun into them and slow their assault long enough to plan your next move.

Cont.

>>40527071
An admirable aspiration to be sure.

You turn and run at the car, leaping and preforming a dropkick. You hit the sides with all of your might, and the vehicle tips over and slams into the three males under neath, squishing one of them. The other is pierces by broken glass, both of it's legs crushed as it howls from inside the windows fruitlessly. You leap high into the air towards the other wolves, landing behind them to slash forward. The female leaps away, but one of the males is gutted, reacting too slowly to counter Abandon's sharp edge. The last male remaining cowers away from you, and for just a moment you catch a glimpse of human emotion in it's face. You don't hesitate, however. You're reminded of the terror that the mousy man has been brought, the fear of the little girl and her mother, the panic of the townsfolk, and all the bodies that have been dropped in the face of demons. It's only been a short while since you've started this job, but you've seen more death and bloodshed than most soldiers. You whip your gun out and unload a number of bullets into it's face, calmly walking forward as it's stunned before planting a boot into it's face, crushing in the snout and killing it as it slides several feet away, a bloody limp mess.

You tuck the gun back into your coat, and turn to the two remaining females, gripping Abandon with both hands. They growl and bark at you, and you find yourself gritting your teeth in hate. Your concentration is broken for just a moment, when the priest's voice rings out from behind you. You look over your shoulder, and see him standing shirtless in a pair of slacks. He's buffer than all hell, and black fur is starting to bristle all over his body as he speaks. "I've seen a lot of half breeds in my day. Some Demons love fucking humans, they think it's funny to spread their seed around." He waggles a finger at you, which is quickly turning into a long claw as his voice warps into a demonic growl "But whoever fucked your mom clearly wasn't joking. Not bad, kid. Let's see how you play with the big boys." He turns fully into a monster, standing over eight feel tall. He must be several hundred pounds of muscle.

You chuckle. "You know, if this were a dog show, you'd definitely take first place." you hold out your hand, and urge him to come forward. "Come on, puppy. Let's go." At that he rushes, but you leap away and slash as you flip, slicing one of the females up the shoulder and neck when she turns to react. The unharmed one turns to her friend as she's cut, looking on with shock. In that moment of vulnerability, you turn and pierce her throat with your blade, the thickness of it lopping off her head in one smooth motion. It rolls off as you pull your blade back, and the remaining female futility attempts to slash at you with her good arm. You take a single step back before swinging your blade in from her weak side, and spilling all the blood in her throat in one smooth motion. You walk past the dead bodies, soaked in wolf blood and smiling. "Whoever fucked your mom must've lost one hell of a bet."

The priest roars and rushes at you, his footsteps seemingly shaking the earth with each impact. You roll to the right as he misses with a slash, and you pull your gun from your coat and unload into his side. It hardly phases him though, and he turns to you with surprising swiftness to punt you like a football, his clawed foot piercing your stomach and sending you flying about ten feet.

You fling Abandon at him with all of your strength, and the blade sings as it flies through the air. The wolf stops his charge and leaps back, the blade sticking into the ground with a dull thud. As you land, you whip your pistol up and fire the charged shots, and he stands confidently laughing. It's apparent that he thinks it won't do any good, but the silver flashes coming from the muzzle make his eyes go wide, and three bullets each tear through him like trucks and put the Wolf on his back. You run forward and pull Abandon from the ground, stabbing at him. The wolf rolls to the side to avoid it at the last moment, but you fire bullets into his face. One eye is blinded and the back of his mouth is riddled with gunfire. "I thought there was something funny about this gun? Guess not."

He swipes at you blindly, and tears into your calf before standing up and crawling around, wildly thrashing his hands in each direction. You keep firing your gun at him, and the wolf is now yelping and howling and barking in frustration. "Stop it! I SAID STOP IT!!"

You don't let up in the slightest, having fun with him and riddling him full of holes. He grows more sluggish as this presses on for a few minutes, and when you're sure that the wolf can't resist you anymore, you run forward and kick it's stomach to lay him flat on his back. The priest groans in pain, and you walk forward and stomp on it's leg, a bone snapping. He roars, frustrated. "What's the matter? Can't play with the big boys?" He moans with a chuckle. "A half-breed, a fuck-" he stops to hack up blood. "A fucking half breed beats me! No matter, you cannot stop my daughter! She will keep our kind alive for eternity! She is the queen of the-" You thrust Abandon forward into his throat, cutting him off before yanking it out and walking over to your bike. "Yeah yeah, I get it. She's the biggest bitch around."

Cont.
>>
>>40528588
Minutes later, you're back at the town. You've honestly got no idea where you're going to find the daughter and her friends, all also probably wolves. When you ride by the mousy man's home, you see that it's up in flames. There's no chance that he survived, if they came for him. You shake your head, and continue to ride on into the town.

You're on your bike, slowly going across a cobblestone road. Your engine is humming quietly as you focus your senses, and try to discern the scent of flowers. You shut your eyes and try to clear out all the other distractions around you, the blood on your clothes distracting you. You pull off to the side and take your coat and shirt off, setting them on the bike before continuing to walk down the street, gun in hand and your sword on your back. With the streets dead quiet, and now that you've made some distance from your bike, you realize something.

The smell of blood wasn't coming from your clothes. It was coming from the wind blowing gently against your face. It's only now you hear the sound of faint laughter, and you sprint forward as fast as you can before rounding an ally. What you see makes you flinch, and you have to wonder just how far gone this town is if the girls feel free to preform such horrid acts on the street like this. You gulp, and stare the scene down. Three girls, plus Katja and a wolf, are standing around a small body. The wolf is ripping off a limb and shaking it out around, as the girls all laugh like they're watching their favorite television show. You're really wishing you would have gotten the man's damn name. You grip your blade tightly, a feeling of sickness rising up in your stomach as you realize that for the first time, you've failed your charge.
>>
>>40528775
Suddenly, Katja looks up and notices you. She's just as beautiful as before, but blood is dripping off of her hands. She gives a cute little wave. "Oh, it's Duncan. I guess you dealt with my Dad and his congregation."

You somehow manage to keep your anger under control, and calmly stroll forward. "Hey, Katja. Just a normal Monday night for you girls, huh?" They all giggle in a fashion that should be impossible for pretty young girls, but you're starkly reminded that it they're not pretty young girls at all when the wolf turns to you and grins with an arm hanging from it's jaws. At least it looks like it's grinning. Whatever the case, you're sure that these demons are just as cocky as any other.

You turn your head to the side as you hear police sirens rapidly approaching, and two squad cars screech to a halt behind you, and cops pour out of the vehicles. You're a little surprised, to be honest. This is the first time you've seen a legitimate police response to something like this. You turn back to Katja and shrug, but suddenly stop as you find her and the girls all smiling. She wipes her hands off on her clothes, and looks at you innocently. "Oh, don't worry. I already called the police, they'll take care of us. They're really nice!" You lurch forward as a shotgun blast impacts your back, and you turn around to find that the men are all aiming their guns in your direction. "Drop your weapons!" one of them yells. Mind control. Great.

You rush forward, dodging the gun fire by tracking the motions of the police. It's just now that you realize how slow they're actually moving, and how casual it is for you to smack away their firearms and knock them out with soft taps. It only takes you a few seconds, but when fangs clamp down on your turned back, you again realize how muddied your perceptions have become. It's not just that any normal man wouldn't have the physical strength to deal with the beasts, it's also the reaction speeds. The wolf could have just as easily killed the men as you knocked them out. You reach behind you and grip the thing by the neck, slinging it over and slamming it into the cobblestone, throwing broken earth everywhere.

It's fangs tear through your shoulder as it's pulled off, and blood drips onto the ground. You're tired, and have wounds all over you. It's good that there's only a few wolves left. You stomp down and crush the brain of the wolf in front of you before it can stand, but when you whip your sword off your back and turn around to face Katja and her remaining friends, you find yourself alone, although you can hear girlish laughter echoing all around you. You walk forward slowly, focusing and trying to absorb the sensations around you so that you can properly react to any threats. Your stiff wounds and the loss of blood is ruining your concentration, but you're motivated by all the suffering that these creatures have wrought. A wolf leaps from a rooftop on your left, but it's hardly expecting you to leap at it as well and easily impale it's body with Abandon. You sling your blade to the right and send the body crashing to the ground, landing on the roof to find two more wolves awaiting you, crawling towards you menacingly.

You fire rapidly at the wolves, and they both rush forward and try to come at you from the sides. You shoot the one on the left in the eyes, concentrating all your fire at the face as you heft your sword up and swing horizontally, warding off the wolf on the right and stepping back. You have just enough of a moment to tuck your gun into your pants and grip Abandon with both hands, and you quickly focus on the wolf on the right. You rush forward and stab, and it leaps to the left and runs into the blinded wolf, falling to the ground.

The fatigue is overtaking you, and you relish at the opportunity to take both of your enemies out. Running forward, you hack at both their bodies again and again, grunting violently with each swing. Blood sprays up with each impact, covering your body and wounds. You feel their demonic blood flowing through you, and it strengthens you to a fault. While by no means are you completely rested now, you feel as though you can continue the fight. Once you're positive that they're dead, you quickly scan the area around you looking for Katja, when a wolfish form on a rooftop in the distance howls to the sky, silhouetted by the moon. The cry pierces your ears, and you feel a sudden compulsion to lay down your sword and stop fighting. Even so, the hatred of the demon allows you to push onward. Surely the normal men of the town must have found themselves completely unable to resist. Katja looks at you, yellow eyes glowing in the darkness. She's a massive wolf, ten feet tall and more than twenty long. She's leaping from the rooftop to the cobblestone, just barely fitting in the road as she comes for you.

You hold your ground, shaking your head at the bullshit that you've had to deal with tonight. Your gun is crackling with silver lightning, and you aim it carefully as the monster approaches you. Katja is fast, and she tuckers head low down so that your bullets don't blind her in the same way it did her sisters and father. They impact her fur, blowing it apart and causing her to yelp harshly. More size just means more flesh, as far as you're concerned. She approaches you and stands on her hind legs, crashing a paw down to where you're at and stomping it on the rooftop. You leap to the side back down into the ally, rolling and grabbing the police shotgun, a standard issue Remington 870. She turns to look at you in the ally, sticking her face in and snapping at you with massive jaws, seemingly an inch away from your face. Hot air blows against you, and it smells of rotten flesh. You jokingly wave a hand in front of your nose. "Whoo, girl. I don't think they make toothbrushes in your size, sadly."

You've been charging the shotgun as she fruitlessly tries to bite you, and you fire it point blank into her nose. The sound of the gunshot is more like an explosion, and she reels back and roars from the pain, whipping her head around. The wolf slams her body into the buildings of the ally, crushing the walls to the side and giving her head room to slip in. She's going to chomp you. What do you do?

You sprint forward as fast as you can, her jaws snapping shut just behind you with a thunderous clap. You throw the shotgun ahead and pull Abandon from your back, and spin it over your head to slash at her left and right forelegs. She leaps up in surprise, and you continue forward to deliver a painful stab into the back-left leg, gripping the handle tightly and still sprinting to slice through and nearly cut her foot off. You spin the blade with a flourish as you run into the street, and slide onto your knees with your blade in front of your guitar. You play an imaginary tune, strumming it harshly, celebrating your impending victory.

Behind you she crashes to the ground, with only one good leg to support herself. She crushes a building entirely, and her body begins to shrink once more. You stand up, picking the shotgun off the ground and wandering over to Katja. She's nude, and she has gunshot wounds and cuts along her arms, and her foot is nearly sliced off entirely. She's laying there, shivering and hardly able to move. You probably challenged her for the first time in her life. You're beginning to realize that many of these demons are big fish in little ponds.

You point the shotgun at her head, and she looks up at you with terror. "Please..please don't! I-I, I don't want to die! I'll stop this! PLEASE!!" She's sobbing wildly, and you stare down blankly at her, almost with confusion. Just a moment it was a terrible monster trying to devour you, and now it's a pretty young girl begging for her life. She continues her plea for life. "I'll never do it again! I'll do whatever you want, just don't kill me!" She turns her head to the ground, screwing her face shut and moaning in pain.

Level the gun at her head.

"Oh, really? You don't want to die? Tough shit. That pain, that fear you're feeling now? That's what your dinner tonight felt. That's what everyone you've hurt felt, and you slaughtered them and laughed."
Spit on her, and continue:
"See, normally, I might have kept this professional. But you have the nerve to beg for mercy from me when you've never shown any in your life. Sorry honey, you're cute, but nobody gets to pull that shit in front of me."

And then blow her head off.

I think a big theme of Devil May Cry is redemption.

Look at Trish, a servant of the devil. She becomes Dantes best friend because of his personality.

Same with Lady. She put a bullet in your brain the first time you met.

Give Katja a chance. Just one chance.

true, but IC it makes sense to put down the sadistic murderer, especially since he probably killed the client.

at the very least >>40530694 >>40530792 >>40530723
seems to let her off easy
>>
>>40530820
I like being apart of this decision.

Anyways, ill point out that the client did send a half breed demon to their church, intending to do harm.

I think she IS evil but worth a second chance. We did kill her family after all.
>>
>>40530776
I just want you to know that when she inevitably does something awful/betrays us. I wont blame you. I'll blame all the waifu faggots shitting everything up right now.

At least the redemption guy gave a reason instead of just. WAIFU GET
>>
>>40530820
she should work for us then as her way of redemption.
>>
>>40530820

Then let her live as a way for her to make up for what she has done. As it is, killing her is kinda letting her go easy.

Also you get a possible ally or recurring enemy, both are fine by me.

>>40530870
I wasn't waifu hyped. I was along the lines of everyone deserving a chance at redemption like the others.

(Fuck yes, the dual meaning of this song for Duncan finally comes through https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLdOlzIRCdk )

You put the strap of the shotgun over your shoulder, and let it hang at your side. You stare down at her grimly. "The people you killed, did they get a chance to beg for mercy before the end?" She looks back up with you with wide eyes, clearly frightened and confused. You're no longer aiming the gun at her, but talking about her evils? She doesn't respond immediately, and you reach back for the gun. She perks up rather quickly. "No! No! They..They didn't." You cock your head to the side, frowning. "Then why shouldn't I kill you? All you do is kill people, heartlessly." She starts to sob again, making a rather ugly face for such a pretty girl. "I don't know. We just did. We always just did!" You scoff, and place your hands on your hips. "You know that's no good excuse, right?" She nods slowly before speaking, softly. "I'm sorry. I know what I did was evil. But I'll do anything to live. That's what wolves do, you know. You're the alpha, now."
>>
>>40531097
i dont think he is about hanging out with sadistic serial killers.
>>
>>40531146

If you had sunglasses, you'd pull them out and put them on right now. Instead, you point a finger down at her. "Fuck yeah I am." You pick the girl up, and wander over to a pool of werewolf blood, and lay her into it. You hold out a hand, and the blood seems to pour into her ankle and close the wound, although she's still extremely damaged. "C'mon." you grunt, and she follows you over to your bike, arms wrapped around her body. She's looking around warily, confused. You throw your coat at her. "Put it on. You're going to my place. You work for me now. You do what I say. If you fucking this up once.."

You whip your Colt out, and point it between her eyes. "You fucking die." She flinches, taking a step back. You spin the gun around on your finger, and tuck it into the front of your pants, before putting on your bloody black shirt. "Now get on the bike."

She does, and the two of you ride back to Dunwich, leaving the ruined town.

Oh, but I will.

In my role playing game experience Ive seen this happen before in multiple groups Ive been apart of.

Bad man does bad things. Begs for mercy.
Gets none.

Bad lady does bad things. Begs for mercy.
Gets on the hope that she'll become your redeemed waifu.

Ive seen this bite people in the ass so many times it hurts. Its just so fucking dumb. maybe im just jaded since its never truly worked out in my experiences. Hell, one time a player got upset because the bad girl he redeemed fell in love with another NPC.

Its just all so dumb.

>You're reminded of the terror that the mousy man has been brought, the fear of the little girl and her mother, the panic of the townsfolk, and all the bodies that have been dropped in the face of demons. It's only been a short while since you've started this job, but you've seen more death and bloodshed than most soldiers. You whip your gun out and unload a number of bullets into it's face, calmly walking forward as it's stunned before planting a boot into it's face, crushing in the snout and killing it as it slides several feet away, a bloody limp mess.
>and you find yourself gritting your teeth in hate
>You don't let up in the slightest, having fun with him and riddling him full of holes.

Look man, if it all goes bad, then it all goes bad.

Why play this game so seriously? Trying to redeem her adds much more to the fun and story. If she betrays us, oh well. Shit happens.

If she changes her ways then we lived up to Dantes example.

Win either way. Also, it depends on how cruel the person is and the circumstance of the event.

You were the one who brought up character first by saying not wanting to perform an execution was the only reason he would have to spare her. Don't be saying it's so important to me when you brought it up. It's a weakpoint in your argument that you should have phrased better.
>>
>>40531238
If you want it to go along with the choices of Duncan's character, think of it like this. The girl's father knew about half-bloods, claimed he was a half blood, so she probably knows about them too, and can smell it as well. An anon made an earlier point about how I was showing that these demons were showing uncharacteristically human emotion when their loved ones died, and Duncan took note of this. He may be thinking of her in a similar way that he was thinking of the book, more of a tool that ended up being used for evil than potentially being evil itself. Not only that, but there is knowledge to be gained from her.

It's a bit far fetched but Duncan is still human in thought process, he's not quite a totally hardened Demon killer. Even Dante never killed a demon that was wounded and begging for it's life saying that it'd change it's ways, as far as I know.

Not saying that you should all have a lot of hope for this working out. I mean it's slim and there's going to be a lot of chances to fuck it up.
>>
>>40531416
I said redemption is a major theme in DMC.

Or, you know what? Let's say it's true. Let's say they fucking NEED to hunt down and toy with humans because what they eat is not meat, but the suffering of a human soul. How the fuck are you going to feed her?

I want it really hard for this to bite us in the ass.

It means this probably wasn't a good idea for all the really obvious reasons. I'm honest with this. The chances of this working out in your favor are slim. You took the queen of a demon-cult of werewolves home with you, after all the awful shit that she did. I'm happy with either choice, really. It's going to be fun for me. I just hope no one goes "Bullshit" when something bad happens because of a poor choice down the road. Doing this opened up a lot of poor choices, but I'm sure people realize that.

Next thread is going to be interesting. You guys have the military looking at you, a fellow Devil Hunter who's after your magic book and possesses DT, a demonic book full of knowledge, and the demon-queen of a werewolf cult (who's exhibited mind control powers) living in your apartment. All of these elements together plus what's going to happen regardless of your previous choices in the next thread is going to make things damn chaotic. Plus you have two squishy human friends. Word of advice, don't let Robbie and Ted near Katja.

There's a lot of trouble circulating around you. Just be aware of the context of your choices and the results the actions could have. Pro-tip, don't let Katja see the demon book. It's sitting in the storage compartment of your bike right now.

You guys have been conquering every threat you've come across with ease, but at the same time you've been accumulating baggage. And it's all going to start coming together soon.

Killed the demon.

I included the option to let her live because, yes, redemption is a part of the DMC games. But also because there was something to be gained from it. Demonic knowledge. A powerful companion, if you could tame her. Maybe even a waifu. But these things are all accompanied with a risk. A risk to everyone you know in Dunwich, and a risk to yourself. A risk to all the innocent bystanders and a risk to the confidence that Duncan has in himself in his choices. In an ironic turn of events, killing the woman begging for her life was the selfless option, and taking her into your home was the selfish choice. I've said from the start that you guys have the choice to go evil if you want, but, how you get to that path may very well be a result of your own actions and the risks you've taken to get there.

What are you willing to give for knowledge? For power? For love, even? Was it really right to spare this one life? Or should everyone be given a second chance, despite their past crimes?

It's not easy being a Devil Hunter.

You guys act like you dont want to have fun. This is just a story, and Miniseries said he would not give us any trap options. So letting us spare the girl was not a definite bad decision, but it can become one.

Who can say but mercy and restraint is what makes us different from the monsters we fight.

Katja is now our responsibility and anything she does to harm another is our fault. Hopefully our personality will be enough to change her.

Hey, there are humans as evil as any devil. As well as kind and compassionate demons. But who's who isn't always obvious. Both are willing to put on a facade, to appear as the other, for whatever their reasons may be.

But you're right about one thing, Katja is now your responsibility. Do you have enough power to protect the ones you care about? Guess you'll find out
