You are Siegfried Schmidt, a former guard from the city of Morsland. Due to various circumstances, you have become the new wielder of Galadriel, a holy sword which houses a powerful six-winged angel of the same name. Now you have come to the White Watchtower, a fortress close to the border between the Forsaken Lands and the kingdom of Iseria, to train with the crusaders so that you can protect yourself from the demons that might come after you now that the sword is in your possession.

You have just arrived at the Red Watchtower with your honor guard and an escort from the White Watchtower. Laurentius said the Knight-Captain here would tell you where to go from here on your tour to rally support for the crusade.

The guards outside stop you and ask you to state your business when your group approaches the tower gates. You inform him that you were sent from the White Watchtower, and that the Knight-Captain should be expecting you. You'd think the fact your whole group is wearing armor with the White Watchtower's heraldry would be enough to prove your story, but the guards ask you to wait outside while one of them goes to check with the Knight-Captain to make sure you're telling the truth. Kind of a hassle, but hey, after being kidnapped twice you're not opposed to tighter security.

“So what do you think the reception's gonna be like once we're inside?” Reinhardt asks.

“Pretty good I'd imagine. The guard's will probably be quite embarrassed when they learn who they stopped at the gates.” Roland answers.

“Hope they have a feast prepared, I'm starving.” Erika complains.

“It's possible, this is quite the occasion after all. It's not every day you have the first Champion in 200 years come to visit. I imagine they're very excited to see you Siegfried.” Ganelon says.

>”I dunno, but I'm not looking forward to all the attention personally. After weeks of riding, I'm too damn tired to put up with it.”
>”If they are, they'll probably be real disappointed when they learn the Champion is just a guardsman with a shiny sword.”
>”Maybe. Right now, I'm just hoping they start dinner soon. Trail rations aren't exactly the most filling thing to eat.”
>”I don't think it's that big of an occasion. They knew we were coming after all, it's probably just gonna be another average day for them except now they have guests.”

can we change Swordfu into a gauntlet and shake everyones hands?
>>
>>40584365
As far as we know the Red Watchtower has MORE security than the White Watchtower. No reason to do it.
>>
>>40584400
We could ask about the security. We are concerned about security as a former gaurd. And use the gauntlet thing, while gaining support the crusade.
>>

You just really want to catch Aleria before she does anything huh?

Come on man, stop metagaming. No Galadriel Gauntlet.

"Maybe. If they are, they'll probably be real disappointed when they learn the Champion is just a guardsman with a shiny sword."

"At least you have the shiny sword." Reinhardt jokes.

You shrug. "Yeah, guess that's true. In any case, I'm just hoping they start dinner soon. Trail rations aren't exactly the most filling thing to eat."

"Sure aren't." Erika agrees.

Around this time, the guard that left to check with the Knight-Captain comes back, apparently out breath from running all the way back from the Knight-Captain's office.

"Captain says to let them in." He says between pants. "Uh...sorry for holding you up."

"It is no problem." Ganelon responds. With that, everyone dismounts their horses and enters the front door of the tower once the gates have opened.

Immediately after entering you're struck by the sheer number of people. Hundreds of people, maybe more watch you all as you enter the main hall. Those who couldn't find space on the main floor lean over the sides of the stairs, trying to catch a glimpse of the tower's visitors. Damn, guess they were excited.

In front of this large collection of people is a man with a funny looking hat and a full beard. He approaches the group once they're inside.

"Ah, you're finally here now!" He says. "I trust the journey was peaceful?"

"For the most part, yes." Ganelon answers politely.

"I see, excellent! Well then, it is my honor to welcome you to the Red Watchtower, Champion Siegfried."

He walks forward to shake your hand. You start to extend yours when he approaches, but to your surprise he then completely walks past you and grabs Ganelon's hand instead.

"I hope you're hungry Siegfried, because our cooks have quite the feats prepared to welcome you to Galloway today."

"I see. Well, that is quite gracious of you sir, but I'm afraid you have the wrong man."

"Huh?"

"My name is Ganelon. Siegfried is right here." He says, gesturing towards you with your hand still extended.

The collection of onlookers roar with laughter at the Knight-Captain's mistake. The captain himself looks a little red in the face as he corrects himself.

"Ah, I see. I simply assumed and...my apologies Siegfried. It seems I have not made the best first impression."

>"It's fine, I don't exactly look the part of Champion."
>"Don't worry about it sir."
>"Hey, I don't blame you. I'd give Ganelon the sword if he'd take it."

"Don't worry about it sir. The good thing about bad first impressions is they make the good ones look way better by comparison. I should know."

'I get the impression that was directed towards me.' Galadriel comments over your mental link.

"That's an interesting way to look at it. Let's start over then shall we? I am Knight-Captain Arnault, leader of the Red Watchtower."

"Siegfried Schmidt, former guardsman and current Champion. Thank you for having us sir."

"Oh it's no trouble, I assure you. We've been looking forward to your visit since Laurentius sent word of your visit. Which reminds me, the feast! I hope you and your companions are hungry, because we have quite the meal prepared today."

"I like it here already." Erika says.

----------
The dining hall here is bigger than the one at the White Watchtower. Yet despite that, it seems like the place is even more crowded. On the bright side though, everyone seems to give you and the others space when you try to move past them. The stares are a little uncomfortable, but at least you're not getting pushed and shoved every which way.

Your honor guard and the squad that escorted you sit at a table together near the front of the hall. Platters upon platters of fine food cover the table. The smell alone is enough to make your stomach grumble. Everyone grabs a full plate, Erika grabs two. After weeks of trail rations and the occasional rabbit, today's feast looks like a meal fit for a king.

"Quite the amusing little mistake back there, wasn't it Siegfried?" Ganelon says, referring to the captain mistaking him for you.

"Yeah, I don't blame him for mixing us up though. I mean, you do look more like a stereotypical hero."

"Why thank you Siegfried, that's very nice of you to say."

"Least this captain has a sense of humor. I was expecting him to be some sorta pompous noble or something." Reinhardt admits.

"Arnault is a very accomplished man, well known for his friendliness. I'll admit I didn't expect him to make such a simple mistake though." Roland says.

"Mmrf mmrf mrmf" Erika tries to speak between mouthfuls.

"Please Erika, don't talk with your mouth full. We have to set a good example." Daniel scolds her.

Around this time, the dining hall grows noticeably quiet, and you turn to see the Knight-Captain standing in front of a table at the head of the dining hall. It looks like he's about to speak.

"Friends, today we are fortunate to welcome the new Champion Siegfried Schmidt and his honor guard to Galloway. Please give them a round of applause."

The entire room claps and cheers. The people from the squad that escorted you here clap as well.

"Now, I'm sure you're all tired from your trip, so we will speak more about your tour of Galloway tommorrow afternoon. In the meantime, please, enjoy yourselves. I'll have people sent to show you your quarters after dinner. Welcome to the Red Watchtower."

There's another round of applause for the Knight-Captain, who then sits and begins eating with what you assume are his officers. Meanwhile, you continue to eat and chat with the others.

"Man, this food is good, but I could really go for a drink right now. You think one of the cooks here makes ale, like Gunther?" Reinhardt asks.

"I wouldn't get my hopes up, something tells me there isn't going to be a lot of alcohol here. Understandable, though."

Reinhardt sighs. "Understandable yeah, but still disappointing."

"Yeah. What I want to know is what sort of records they have here. Maybe they have a couple tomes about Galadriel or something about the geography in the Forsaken Lands."

"You've been reading a lot about that stuff lately, haven't you?"

"Well there is a Crusade coming Reinhardt, it's not a bad idea to learn about the places we'll be fighting at."

"Not a bad idea, sir. The library here might have some information of interest to you."

You turn around and see a new person standing behind you. A human, wearing glasses and blue robes with the Red Watchtower's heraldry printed on the back.

"Do I know you?"

"Ah, sorry sir, I suppose it's rather rude of me to interject in someone's conversation without even introducing myself. My name is Archibold Chartier, I'm the book keeper here."

Roland turns around and squints at the new visitor. "Archie?"

"Took you long enough Roland. I suppose it's the new glasses that threw you off?"

Rolands eyes widen and he pulls the book keeper down into a hug. "Archie! How have you been doing?"

"I'm doing just fine Roland, seems you're also doing quite well. Never would have thought you'd be in a Champion's honor guard, nearly fell off the staircase when I noticed you."

"I'm guessing you guys know each other?" You ask, not quite sure what's going on.

"This is Archie, an old friend of mine. We trained under the same mentor."

"Indeed, both of us actually enlisted at the watchtowers to earn our knighthood. Though Roland decided he was too good to 'guard books all day' as he put it and left for the White Watchtower while I stayed here."
>>
>>40586789
"Oh, okay then. Well, good to meet you, uh, can I call you Archie?"

"It would be an honor sir."

"Right, thanks. Also, you don't have to call me sir. It makes me think my old captain is standing behind me and you're talking to him."

"I see. Well, thank you Siegfried. Would you mind if I sat here, caught up with my old friend?"

"Not at all, go ahead."

--------
For the rest of dinner, Roland and Archie talk nonstop, catching up on what's happened since they separated. You honestly couldn't keep up with what they're saying if you wanted to, it's hard enough to understand Roland at times with his accent, it's even harder when there's two of them and they're talking so fast. Eventually though, people start to file out of the dining hall and go about their business. As it turns out, Archie is the one the Knight-Captain asked to show you to your rooms, which is why he approached you out of nowhere.

"This here will be your room ma'am. This one should accommodate you sir. And this one is your room, Siegfried." He says, stopping in front of one of the doors.

"Thanks."

"Don't mention it. Curfew is in two hours, feel free to explore if you wish, just be sure to return to your rooms in time for curfew. Now if you'll excuse me, I must return to the library. Until next time."

With that, Archie leaves you all to your rooms. You step inside and examine the room. It's a nice, spacious room with a desk, bed, and an empty bookshelf. There's a door leading to what you believe is the bathroom. You drop your stuff on the floor and stretch. Well, you're finally here now, and you have two hours until curfew. What should you do with that time?

Well, you don't really know where anything is, might as well just do some wandering and see what you find

The Red Watchtower is just as big as the White Watchtower. It goes several stories high, and each floor is pretty big on it's own. On the higher floors, you can look out the windows and see across the forest below. You consider jumping out one of the windows and going for a quick flight at one point, but decide against it. Galadriel gave you a pass that one time because she thought it was funny, but you probably shouldn't abuse the powers she gives you. Besides, it'll be a whole day before you can use them again if you do.

Curiously, no one really bothers you as you wander around the tower. All you receive are a few sideways glances from people you walk past. Surprising, considering how they all were leaning over each other to get a look at you and the others when you arrived. Maybe they've just calmed down, or maybe-

"Excuse me there. Forgive me if I'm bothering you, but may we have a word?"

You turn around and see two elven women, one with blond hair and short ears and the other with brown hair and long ears. The one in front, the blond one, is wearing what looks like a normal dress with two metal gauntlets that have the Red Watchtower's heraldry, while the one behind her is wearing normal red robes which also bear the tower's heraldry.

Around you, you see that other people are watching you right now. 'Is there something on my face or something? Why is everyone looking at me now?' You ask Galadriel mentally.

'It might be that they're watching to see how you react.'

'What do you mean?'

'You're a Champion Siegfried, and these people don't know anything about you besides whatever stories they've heard about Morsland. It's possible they've been avoiding you because they don't know if it's okay to approach you or not.'

Now that you think about it, the elf did sound just a little timid when she spoke. You'd have never thought people would have trouble talking to you of all people. If Reinhardt were here, he'd tease you and tell you to stop being so big and scary or something.

Alright guys while we wait, I was thinking about Enchanting whole new sets of armor for each Demon Lord fight as we learn more about them like we are playing Monster Hunter or something.

For example Alastor is pretty much the fire boss in the fire level with the fire minions as far as we know. So I was thinking:

Helmet: Fire resist
Chest :Fire resist
Legs: Fire resist
L Glove/Shield: Ward
R Glove: Strength+
L Boot: Fire resist or Speed+
R Boot: Fire resist or Speed+

What do you guys think?
>>
>>40588930
I agree only if Fire resist helps against explosions
>>

>>40588930
eh i think its too much specialization and takes away any flexibility that we can have especially since i believe that resistance like that will be gotten from the sword.
>>
>>40588930
Also with what little we know of Balaam, he has various different elemental attacks so instead of trying to cover them all the armor set enchants would be a mix of strength and speed.
Hit him hard and fast.

>>40589087
The thing is we aren't losing any flexibility we have now cause we haven't enchanted anything other than speed+ on the chest.

Adding fire resist is only a gain unless you wanted to put something else on.
>>
>>40589131
What i meant to say is that i don't believe they only use a set element alone (hell the anger demon looks like he prefers to go full physical and only uses fire as a bonus), and it would be better to use other utility enchantments and instead find a spell that helps us become resistant to an element.
>>
>>40589197
I feel you, I think we need to do a trial run in sword plane to get a feel for Alastor fights before we come to a conclusion.

"Nowhere specific, just having a look around, trying to figure out where everything is. What was it you wanted to say?"

"I see. I actually wanted to ask because there's two people I know who won't stop arguing constantly about whether or not you cut his legs off or his legs and his arms."

"People argue about that?"

"You have no idea." The brown haired one finally says.

"Is it also true you led the charge against the demon invasion at Mordland?"

"It's Morsland. And no, not really. That was Captain Gregory who led the charge, though I was up front."

"What about how you liberated one of Alastor's farms by breaking down the walls?"

"Huh? Where did you hear tha-"

"What about when you fought Alastor? Was he as big as they say he is?"

"Fought Alastor? Look ma'am, I did-"

"Oh, what about when..."

Okay, it is now becoming very clear to you now that you should have probably not gotten this lady started. In all your life, you've never heard someone talk as fast as she does, and all of it is about you. You would think you'd be flattered to hear someone talk about you as much as this woman is, but it's really starting to get annoying. Moreover, most of the things she's asking you about never happened, or take something that did happen and twist it into something different. When you actually do get a chance to talk, you correct her before she starts giving people the wrong idea. No, you have never fought Alastor before, and thank Aureus for that. No, you did not beat Andras in a fair duel at the Festival of Creation, you caught him by surprise and were fortunate enough to cut his arm off with a lucky swing of Galadriel. Yes, you did fight in the Battle of Morsland. No, you did not slay a thousand demons single handedly. Sweet Aureus, is this woman making this stuff up on the spot, or do people actually think this? You certainly hope not.

Finally, a horn sounds and someone announces that it's almost time for curfew. You take that as an excuse to get the Void out of there.

"Well, it was, uh, nice talking to you miss?"

"Oh, forgive me, I never introduced myself did I? I am Avaline Bordelon. This is my friend Aleria."

"Aleria? I knew someone named Aleria before." You don't mention that said person was a demon trying to kidnap you and bring you in to presumably be horribly murdered by Andras.

"It's a common name here. My cousin is name Aleria as well." Avaline says.

"Huh. Well, I better get going. Nice meeting you two."

"Right, thank you Siegfried. I hope we meet again!"

'-I- hope we never do.' you think to yourself. You can feel Galadriel laughing in the back of your mind at your misfortune.
>>
>>40589440
'And now you know how I felt when we first met Ganelon.' She says.

'Please don't compare Ganelon to that. Ganelon is nothing like that, that was just awful.'

'She's just a fan Siegfried. Not something uncommon for a Champion to have.'

'Well, I hope she's the last one I run into.'

With that, you return to your quarters. Curfew starts in a few minutes, though technically you only have to be in your room by that time. You could meditate or do some reading before bed if you want.

Their effects stack yes. I don't have specific numbers for how they stack, but the more gear you have that's enchanted to resist an element, such as fire, the more it can block and endure. The stronger the source though, the less it can endure. So for example, a full suit of decently enchanted fire-resistant armor might completely negate all of a weak demon's fire damage, but it might not be able to completely negate a stronger demon's fire attacks, though it would reduce the amount taken. That only applies to fire though, if an Astaroth demon were to hit you with it's flaming weapon, you'd reduce the damage from the fire but it won't help reduce damage from actually being hit.

Sorry if that doesn't make any sense, it's hard to explain without going into solid numbers.

The familiar gust of wind let's you know you're back on top of the clouds before you even open your eyes. It is night time, and Galadriel is standing on top of her mountain peak as always.

"Hello again Siegfried. Come to train and forget your experience with your fan?"

You groan. Soon as you get the chance, you make a mental note to take Galadriel to Ganelon's church in Belmore as payback.

"In a moment, yeah. I actually wanted to ask you about something first."

"What is on your mind?"

"It's about the dreams I've been having. The ones about Andras. Do you know why I would be dreaming about his past? Is that common for Champions?"

"As I said when you had your first vision, I am not sending you these visions. I do not know where they come from or why they would show you Andras' past."

"Any theories then?"

"I have none, except that it's possible that whoever, or whatever, is sending them wants to tell you something, perhaps warn you."

"Huh...well, that leads me to my other question then. What can you tell me about Aleria?"

Galadriel is silent. For a moment, you wonder if she won't answer you, but then she finally speaks.

"Aleria was a crusader at the White Watchtower when Andras was Champion. As I understand it, she and Laurentius were friends since childhood."

"Oh." Well, that would explain why Laurentius didn't want to talk about it.

"She and Laurentius actually served in Andras' honor guard as well. Laurentius and Andras became close friends. Andras and Aleria...were even closer. It was after she died that Andras started to change."

"I see. And what happened to her? How did she die?"

"It was after a major battle in Alastor's domain. An assassin shot her in the heart from a tree. They hunted him down, and learned that he was a cultist, a traitor in service to Malaphas. Laurentius was heartbroken. Andras wanted revenge. That's when he started to change. He no longer trusted anybody. He accused anyone who disagreed with him of insubordination. He pushed recklessly into enemy territory, not stopping to let the soldiers heal their wounded. He became more cruel. And then, when we laid siege to Alastor's fortress, he started trying to force more power from me."
>>
>>40590540
Pssst, its Alicia. Not Aleria.
>>
>>40590540
"He lost it." You surmise.

"Indeed. I told him he would kill himself if he kept on like that, but he wouldn't listen. Then one day, there was a soldier who abandoned his post out of fear. He was captured and brought in for punishment, and Andras decided to make an example of him. I saw him flay him alive with a knife in front of the entire camp, as a warning to anyone else who would try to run away from the fight. That's when I knew he was too far gone. I stopped cutting for him after that. No matter how hard he tried, I wouldn't harm his foes. I meant to make him stop and calm down, try to talk some sense into him.Instead, he called me a traitor. After the battle, he threw me to the ground and left. No one saw him again, and we were eventually forced to retreat."

"So when did he come back?"

"It was while we were on our way back to the White Watchtower. I don't know what happened or why he did it, but he turned into a demon. He thought to capture me and bring me back to Malaphas to be destroyed. He would have done it, were Laurentius not there to stop him. Laurentius fended him off, just barely, and we returned to the White Watchtower. Once we were back, Laurentius tried to pick up my blade, but I would not let him."

"Why not?"

"Because I knew he would only get himself killed. Laurentius felt betrayed, angry. He wanted to hunt down Andras and kill him no matter the cost. If I went with him, he would do something foolish and get himself killed. And so we waited. Two hundred years later, Andras appears at the festival in Morsland, and now here we are."

"I had no idea. I'm sorry Galadriel."

"...It is fine. The past is in the past, and dwelling on it will not help anybody. Instead, let's focus on here and now. You came to train, didn't you? What would you like to train against?"

"Would it be possible for me to train against Alastor?"

"Are you sure you want to try?" Galadriel asks. Somehow, you get the impression this is a bad idea, but it's worth a shot.

"I'm sure. I'll have to fight him eventually, at least this way I can practice and I won't die if I lose."

"Very well then. Good luck."

Somehow, you get the impression you'll need that luck in a moment, as Galadriel disappears and the scenery begins to change. You now stand in an open rocky area, under a bright orange sky. The air is intolerably hot, and you see a tall mountain in the distance, surrounded by black smoke. Suddenly, a familiar figure materializes between you and the mountain. He has sharp horns, viscous claws, and armor depicting a large skull motif on his torso. Your head only comes up to his chest, and he has two double-bladed axes on his belt. He smiles but says nothing. Were it the real one, you imagine he'd be egging you on, daring you to come at him. He doesn't even draw his axes.

Quickly, you activate all the powers Galadriel has given you and start casting spells. Golden light flows from your sword and over your entire body. When the light vanishes, you feel much stronger, and have six wings made of light. You would think Alastor would try to stop you as you cast your spells and power up, but he simply waits, looking bored. You can almost hear him saying "Hurry up kid."

Well, if he's going to give you time, then you'll gladly accept. You cast Haste on yourself and Curse of Ice on Galadriel, and charge forward. Alastor grins, and just before you swing you cast Blink and teleport behind him. Quickly, you try to cleave through his leg.

Just as your sword is about to meet his leg, Alastor jumps high into the air in a backwards flip. He land behind you, and grabs you by the head, lifting you into the air and smashing you into the ground. He then lifts you into the air and smashes you into the ground on the opposite side, then throws you high into the air and punches you in the chest, sending you flying several yards away.

>25/40 HP remaining

Ooookay, that fucking hurt. It wouldn't surprise you if you broke a rib or two there, but you pick yourself back up regardless. Alastor stand several yards away from you, arms crossed with a wide grin on his face.

>Plan of attack?
>>
>>40591338
Haste gives us more actions we can string together. This round we mostly buffed though. At least I think that's how it works.
>>
>>40591363
Cast heal, shift to a bow and start hitting him with feints at a range. If he shows any apparent gaps in his defence, shift to a halbred and blink in close and attack.
>>
>>40591338
>>40591371
Originally the idea was that it gave you extra actions. Instead, I'm just changing it to where Haste lowers the DC of relevant tasks where speed would make the task easier. So for example, attacking would be easier because you're swinging faster, and dodging would be easier since you can move faster as well. It also makes certain tasks possible where it wouldn't otherwise, like keeping up with a running horse.
>>
>>40591363
Ouch. Alright fuck it, Haste is on, everything else is on. Combo time.

Blink to the left side of his face.

Blink high and behind him.
Shift to bow.

>Charge

>>
>>40591445

Does stacking actions raise the DC?
>>
>>40591473
We have to roll more, but if we get some good rolls the excess number they beat the DC by can trickle down and help other rolls in the chain.

Think thats how it works at any rate.
>>
>>40591473
Not in particular, no.
>>
>>40591363

2. Shoot from above

6. Flying charge

Shifting your sword into a bow, you fly above and fire arrows at Alastor from above. Haste allows you to rapidly fire a volley of arrows at him, too many to avoid easily.

Alastor put up his right hand to block an arrow aimed at his face. The arrow pierces his clawed hand, causing it to freeze over thanks to Curse of Ice. Other arrows find their mark as well, in his left knee, right hip, and stomach. He examines his hand curiously, now frozen over with ice.

Seizing your chance, you flap your wings and charge towards him. He looks away from his hand at you, and smiles. Just as you're about to come within range of him, you blink backwards. Just in time too, as his unfrozen hand grabs an axe from his belt and swings where you once where.

Shifting Galadriel into a lance, you intend to charge forward and impale him while he's open. However, right as you get close to him, he stamps one of his feet and there's a large, fiery explosion around him, and you are caught in the blast and sent flying to the side.

>10/40 HP remaining

You roll on the ground to extinguish your burning clothes, and stand back up. Alastor now starts striding up to you, in no hurry at all, the ice which once froze him now melted and leaving him free to move. He pulls his second axe out of his belt, now holding an axe in both hands.

The first thing you do is back up and cast Heal. You can feel the magic start healing some of your more serious wounds.

>20/40 HP remaining

Next, you shift to a halberd and use it in one hand with help from Righteous Strength. Using your reach to your advantage, you stay out of his reach and take a few jabs at him. You manage to land a few solid blows while avoiding his attacks, freezing him where you strike and slowing him down. Then, Alastor takes a particularly wide swing at you, leaving himself open. Or so you thought.

Rushing in, you attempt to jab him in the side while he's open. However, it was a false opening. Alastor does a full spin, avoiding your attack and backslashing you with one of his axes, ripping a large gash in your side.

>5/40 HP remaining

That's it. You're pretty much done. You're doing the best you can, but you can barely stay conscious at this point. Your wound is bleeding heavily, and you're starting to see double. You hear Alastor laugh cruelly, and fire begins to rage around him, melting the ice off of him. Something's happening, it might be the loss of blood messing with your vision, but you think he's starting to get bigger.

>15/40 HP

Shifting to a spear, you look up at Alastor, who's form is beginning to change. Alastor now towers above you, and his form has changed. His horns have grown longer, and are now wreathed in fire. A third eye has opened on his forehead. Four more arms have sprouted from his side, and each now wields a flaming axe the size of a house. You see fire burning within his maw, lined with hundreds upon hundreds of sharp, jagged teeth. He laughs, a terrifying sound which echoes all around.

"Keep laughing buddy, I'm taking notes." You gasp, tightening your grip on the spear. Flapping your six wings, you fly towards his head. Giant flaming axes swing past you, just barely missing their mark. With a loud shout, you charge towards Alastor's right eye, intending to at least blind him before you're taken out.

Alastor still has another trick up his sleeve though, and lets out a loud roar. Fire blasts forth from his maw, catching you before you can reach his eye. You feel the fire burning every inch of your body, but you persist, giving your wings one last flap which sends you flying out of the fire stream towards his right eye. Still engulfed in flame, you bury your spear as far as it will go in Alastor's right eye, eliciting a ground-shaking roar of pain from the colossal lord of wrath. You grip on the spear begins to slip, and the wings on your back begin to fade, as you begin plummeting towards the ground, losing consciousness...

Your eyes snap open, and you are sitting on the clouds in front of Galadriel's mountain once more. You feel your side where Alastor's axe cut you, there isn't so much as a scar. You are exhausted, but physically you are unharmed.

"Do not be ashamed, Siegfried. You were not ready to fight Alastor yet. Even so, you managed to take his right eye before you were defeated, something you should take pride in. Take what you've learned today, and learn from it, so when you really do fight Alastor, the battle will not end the same way."

I believe sparks said that the enchantments we know only protect against the weaker fire demon attacks, so if you want to try out your idea we gonna need stronger enchantments.

So we got the most damage from getting him to touch us, jesus i don't think tanking his hits will be healthy for us.
At least we know he is gonna let us buff ourselves before the battle.
>>
>>40592729
>So for example, a full suit of decently enchanted fire-resistant armor might completely negate all of a weak demon's fire damage, but it might not be able to completely negate a stronger demon's fire attacks,

I mean I knew when suggesting it, that it wouldn't completely null Alastor's fire but damnit it will help.
>>
>>40592729
No, they'll work against any demons. It's just that stronger enemies that use fire attacks will bypass more of the protection than a weaker one would.

Actually we lost 30 hp to phys and 30 hp to fire attacks.

Thats why I said we should balance Ward and Fire Resist when we fight him.

You know, call me crazy but something tells me it wasn't our casting that tired us out but the debilitating wounds and being near death.

>>40592653
Guess i need to train harder.

I need more physical strength and endurance and need my spells to be less tiring.
>>
>>40592946
So we need to learn a health regen enchantment.
>>
>>40592902
I wonder if we could whip up a magical equivalent to an mp3 player that we could take with us when we meditate, so we could listen to jams while we suicidally fight Alastor. Over and over and over again.

After you've completely reassured yourself that you don't have any gaping wounds or burn scars, you can't help but grin like an idiot.

"Ashamed? Not really. I didn't expect to beat him, but this was a good chance to learn. Still, I got his eye at least, that's something I guess."

"Indeed. You still have a ways to go before you can defeat Alastor, but you've shown that you're further along that path than either of us anticipated."

"Thanks." You think back to the battle, and think of ways you can prepare for the real thing. "Hm, I noticed he uses a lot of fire attacks. I'll keep that in mind. Maybe I can enchant my gear before we fight him, something to protect me from fire and physical attacks."

"That is a wise idea. I would just as soon avoid his attacks entirely if possible, but it is good to prepare just in case."

"Right. Well, I'm exhausted after that fight, so as much as I'd like to go for round two, I think I'll call it a night."

You hear Galadriel chuckle. "Yes, that would be wise. Goodnight Siegfried."

"Goodnight Galadriel."

You open your eyes and find yourself in your new room once again. One last time, you check to make sure you have no wounds or scars, then start getting changed. Never before have you fallen asleep so quickly.

----------
The scene replays in front of you. Bleeding and barely conscious, you fly madly at the towering demon with spear in hand. Alastor breaths a wave of fire, and you see yourself break out of the fire stream, engulfed in flames from head to toe, as you bury your spear in Alastor's eye. Just as you see yourself begin to fall, the scene freezes.

"Quite the performance, mortal. I'm sure Alastor will enjoy himself when you two finally meet again. Still, it would be quite a shame if it ended this way, wouldn't it?"

Something changes. You and Alastor are no longer alone on the battleground. Thousands of people are on the ground, most of them dead or dying. You squint your eyes, and begin to recognize some familiar faces. Daniel, Galmar, Reinhardt, Erika, Justine, Joan, and many others, all dead or dying at the feet of the Lord of Wrath. The sight horrifies you, makes you want to do something, but you can't move, only watch.

"Indeed, it would be a shame indeed. So much life, lost. A real tragedy for everyone, save Alastor I suppose. He looks like he's having the time of his life."

You examine the towering demon and realize the voice is right. You didn't notice before, but even as you plunge your spear into his eye, Alastor is smiling.

"What's going on?” You ask. “Who are you?”

"That's quite a question, Siegfried. I have a lot of names, some nicer than others. For now though, you can just call me "friend", because that's what I am. We'll meet again, sooner or later. Give my dear sister my regards when you see her."
>>
>>40593125
------
You wake up in a cold sweat. Another vision, but this was different. This time, you didn't see another Champions life, but your own. Not only that, but there was someone else there as well. Questions flood your brain. Who was he? How did he know about your training with Galadriel? Why did he send you this vision? Was he the one who sent you the other visions as well? Who's this sister he mentioned? Is he really your friend?

You groan. Every time you have these dreams, you wake up with so many questions. You'll have to figure it out later though, it sounds like people are starting to wake up.

>So there are no stronger fire enchantments?
You can improve enchantments you know, make them stronger. You're also able to fine tune enchantments that have already been made, so if you enchanted something and later improved that enchantment, you can improve the enchantment you placed on that item still. So improving your elemental enchantments would allow you to enchant weapons and make them do more damage, or enchant armor to make it block more damage of that type.
>Would giving us a percent or a number on how much protection it would give be spoilers?
It works sort of like this. Lets say you enchant a whole suit of armor with fire resistance. For the sake of this example, let's give it a value of 100 points. Let's say a weak fire demon casts a fire spell worth 20 points. Your armor completely nulls that. A stronger demon then uses a fire spell on you worth 120 points. Your armor blocks 100 of that, but 20 still goes through. Alastor comes along and uses a fire spell worth 200 points. You block 100 of that, but the rest still hits you.

Now that isn't exact numbers, but it's an example of how resistance works. It's highly unlikely you could enchant your gear to completely block Alastor's attacks, but you could reduce it a significant amount. As for actual percentages, you'll have to do some trial and error to figure that out.

>>40592946
Yeah, it was the debilitating wounds that made spellcasting hard.

>>40593176
I personally don't mind. I'm more worried people will be bored by it.

Enhancing enchantments just improves then. It doesn't increase the Aether draw of the enchantment. If anything, it may reduce it.

>Enhancing enchantments just improves then. It doesn't increase the Aether draw of the enchantment. If anything, it may reduce it.

Have we learned how to do that yet? You know we should actually fucking enchant something to begin with eh?
>>

>>
>>40593493
Yes, except there is a belt slot as well.
>>40593468
You can improve enchantments by either learning how to in a book, or by getting advice from a more experience enchanter.
>>
>>40593560
I know I brought up the whole Weightless Flight thing, but that's seriously an incredible investment for a gimmicky tactic.
>>
We should enchant that other glove of ours with a strength enchantment.

Then when we do open training do 1 finger push-ups and impress the yandere elf.
>>
>>40593590
I thought it was just a joke.
>>
>>40593586
Does using Galadriel as a focus help with the enchantment process?
>>
>>40593591
Something along the lines Siegfried just happens to test out the glove on the training field.
>>
>>40593602
No Gals-sword is just a casting focus.

Re read how enchanting is done.

But we could ask her if she knows something or bring a book along and have her give us pointers.
>>
>>40593602
Can't really use Galadriel as a foci for enchantment, because you're channeling aether directly into the item, in a fashion similar to using a foci, but instead of using it as a medium to cast a spell, you're just pouring aether directly into the item itself, then shaping it to accomplish a specific deed, like burst into flame or reinforce the item it's in.
>>
>>40593601
It's a fun tactic that is viable, but only efficient in very strange circumstances.

So we shouldn't outright dismiss it as a possibility, nor go out of our way investing resources to do it.
>>
>>40593590
I know, I know, I was halfway joking. It does make a useful enchantment if we were worried about falling off of cliffs, though.

Still, maybe we could enchant a suit of armor/clothing that we wouldn't wear into battle, but keep on hand in case we needed to travel a long distance in a very brief period of time. We could just chuck it on if we needed to get to the other side of the country, or to other watchtowers in less than a day.

I'm with you on that, but Sieg is too much of a high-value target to have armor that does not increase defense.

I'm still pushing for having someone else having just enough Weightless to fly in on Galadriel as backup or to pick the locks/untie ropes that are keeping Sieg down.
>>
So you guys down to make a Alastorbane set of enchanted gear as a side project? We still got plenty of time before we start invading.

I can make some variants (different types of enchantments and how many of a specific one) for next thread, see which ones you guys might like.
>>
>>40593737
Ehh, right now getting some mid-high level Ward is more important than Fire Res. Once we have that, we can look into mid level Fire Res.

On the other hand, Alastor definitely WON'T be engaging us anytime soon, since he wants a good fight. We can take advantage of that and just spend that time doing more urgent tasks.
>>
>>40593737
>Ehh, right now getting some mid-high level Ward is more important than Fire Res. Once we have that, we can look into mid level Fire Res.

Thats what I meant by making some variants you guys can look at. Like an All Ward set, an all Fire resist set, mix and match, etc.
>>
>>40593787
Your perspective is on armor sets.

My perspective is in time invested to learn higher level enchanting.

I'm not too keen on having an armor set for every job if it means we can't have them with high levels of damage reduction.

Even if we make a low tier set to begin with we can always improve it later when we have the means.

Not bad, but can why don't we have those wards fire focused. One of the bigger risks are his fire attack.
