You reach out and lay a hand on Djanna's arm. She frowns but snaps her mouth closed, swallowing deeply. The light dies on her lips, a few tongues of plasma flowing over her lips until the power fully subsides. You hold onto your sister till your trembling passes, Nurrim not having moved from in front of you.

"I say we get out of here. Now." the older kitsune hisses once Malachi has vanished amongst the trees. You can't help but nod, reaching behind you with your other hand and feeling about for Emma until you get a handful of silky, triangular ear. You pull her against you, hugging her tightly. Finally, you stop shivering, and the four of you set off again, moving along the path.

===========================================

"That's gods-damned spooky." Maya reclines on her bed, the four of you seated where her piles of aromatic materials once sat. Her goblin minions are bustling about, packing up the remainders of their possessions. Ice-axe bullies Dagger as he folds up Maya's clothes, while Spear and Hatchet pack things into a larger chest.

"Humans really are monsters..." Emma shudders. You pet her gently, her tails puffed up. Maya nods agreement, her tail swinging gently behind her.

"I don't want to think so, but... it's starting to seem that way." Djanna nods agreement, and Maya nods along with her.

"It's like I told you: They treat you like shit, unless you have something they want, and once they get it out the door you go. Burn 'em all, I say. Hey, dragon girl. We can make that happen, right?"

"'Djanna.' And no... better to just ignore them, I think..."

You shake your head, whining. All this talk is so draining.

"Mama! Mama! Ready-ready! Yes, we ready-ready!" Dagger skips over to her, all smiles. She glares at him and rises languidly from the bed.

"What did I tell you about calling me that in front of company, 'dear?'"

He yelps and scurries back. Ice-axe and Hatchet have grabbed the chest, Spear supporting it from the side.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Lead on!"

===========================================

"WHATS IN DA HELLS HAPPENDS TA YAS!?"

Garush crushes you, Djanna, and Emma to his breast in a single hug. Your bones crunch and you whine loudly, the air being forced from your lungs and your ears aching. "Ya looks likes ya beens throughs hells! Ya clothes is all torns ups, an' is dat bloods!? Da hells!? Nurrim, da hells dids ya dos to my girls? An who da hells is ya?!" He levels a massive green finger at Maya, and she bats it away almost casually. Or tries to.

"Keep your fancy shorts on, green man, they're fine." The little demoness quips, other hand on her hip. "They got a little roughed up, but nothing they couldn't handle. Just got shot, beaten with an axe, an-"

"SHOTS?! BEATENS!?" Garush looks like he's somewhere between a meltdown and a berserker fit. You feel his heart pounding in his chest before he sets you down, kneeling in front of you and gathering the three of you together. "Listen. Who hurtsed yas. I'll takes 'ems aparts piece by pieces an scatters 'ems to th' seven seas."

"I'll tell you everything, but Garush?"

"Yus, Nadias?"

You whine and give a little pout. "Yelling..."

He leads you all inside, and you start explaining the events of the past few weeks: meeting Maya, meeting Nurrim in the woods, the hunters, and your flight back to Dvotysk.

Garush listens quietly, but his fist clenches around his stein when you mention the hunters, the wood splintering and his beer spilling out onto the carpet. Maya nods appreciatively, and Djanna glares daggers at her.

"Dey... dids... whats... to yas?" His voice is quiet. Deathly so. He sets the glass calmly on the desk, rises carefully onto his false leg, and turns to the mantlepiece. He reaches above, pulling down his cutlass and strapping it onto his belt before turning for the door. "You girls stays heres. Ah'll bes backs in a weeks or twos."

"Calm down, greenskin, they're probably long gone by now."

"I gots a names, blueberry."

"Oh, is it 'grandpa?' Or maybe hopalong?"

Garush glares at her for a long moment before the corner of his lip quirks up and he snorts. "Ya cheeky littles monkey."

"Look, don't kick the bee's nest. As great as I think it would be for another human or three to get buried, it's a long way back across the mountains for a kill that might not even still be there, right?"

"Nothin' doin's. Dey hurt mah girls, an dey's gonna dies."

"Fair, but hey: How about we eat first? I haven't had a good meal in a long time, and you look like you're loaded."

"Maya!" Djanna yelled, stomping a foot. You can't help but snicker a bit.

> Let Djana help her settle up
> Help the kitties adjust to city life

Though really (>>40606349) fits far, far better. Seriously, getting threatened by something like that, being crushed and then almost sold into slavery, then finally threatened with "If you get stronger, I will kill you", hate to say it, but that kills the adventurous spirit.

I want to see Lotus write himself out of that corner.

"Look Garush, we want to settle this too. But not right now, okay?" You cross to stand beside him, laying a hand on his arm. You reach out and gently take the sword from his belt, letting the sheathed tip of it rest on the floor. "Let's just eat, get a good night's sleep, think things over in the morning. Okay?"

He looks ready to object, but your quivering eyes and the set of your lips make him sigh. He turns and lays a massive hand on your head. "All rights, pups. I promises, nothins drastics yets. Dey lives anudder days." He doesn't seem happy about the fact, but he still scoops you up into a one-armed hug, cradling you against his chest. "Come on, girls. Follows alongs. Lets gos eats."

=================================

"-and then, I kid you not, just as the guy is about to take the riding crop to his wife, Garush just grabs the guy's horse, hefts it up over his shoulders, and throws it at him! Killed the guy instantly. The funny part? The horse AND the woman survived!"

"You've got to be lying. There's no way a man could lift a damned horse." The traveller took a deep drink and set his mug back down on the table with a clunk, belching.

"Swear it on the cathedral bell. Some upstart minor lord from the south, thought he was going to teach his wife a lesson in front of the gods and all. Garush isn't a man, anyway. He's the greenskin what runs the bunkhouse by the harbor."

"A monster? Bah. No wonder he settled it like a bru-"

A hand grabbed the man behind the neck, forcing his head down against the table. The gruff old owner of the inn stood over the traveller, scowling.

"Say another unkind word about the cap'n in my house, an' there're ten men at least who're gonna have somethin' ta say about it."

You look over, frowning, then look back at Garush who's hiding behind his mug, drinking deeply.
>>
>>40606923
"Did you really kill a man with a horse?"

He swallows and puts the empty mug down, clearing his throat. "Well... nots likes I meants tos. Buts I didn'ts wanna hits him. I means... he coulda surviveds the horse."

"Hah!" Maya slams her fist against the table, laughing. "Holy shit, that's amazing!"

"Watch yas language, little lady. It ain't propah."

"Really? A sailor's giving me shit about my language?" She takes a bite of the sausage on her plate.

Djanna's grumbling her way through a plate of eggs, and you and Emma sit side-by-side, working your way through your own meals.

"So, girls." Garush lets the matter drop, turning to the three of you. "I thinks we needs ta talks. I don't thinks I likes the ideas of you goin's outs agains. Its too dangerous, an' if yer gonnas be gettins roughed ups..."

"Is that really fair, though?" Nurrim interjects, leaning back against the wall, Garush's borrowed shirt flowing around her like a dressing gown. "I know they seem young, but to be honest, they're stronger than you'd think. Nadia killed an owlbear with her bare hands, with Emma's illusions distracting it, and Djanna killed a giant snake practically by herself."

Garush shakes his head. "I don'ts wanna hears its. It's too dangerous, an' there's no needs fors its. Dese shrines? It's all justs boogedyboo."

But I think we should actually go home after this, we've got a good enough story to work this to our advantage.

Also I'd imagine we could work up quite the kobold lynch mob/murder squad to face off against that guy, you fuck with one warren member you fuck with them all, and he did just state he'd be glad to wear our skins eventually.

"If we train, then it won't be a problem..." You take a bite of your meat, and Emma nods in agreement. Garush opens his mouth and Nurrim raises her hand to stall him. He grumps and leans back in his seat, crossing his arms and waiting. "You said you knew people who could help us. There's not anything to it but to get stronger... right?"

"I'm againsts its." Garush says, making a cutting motion with his hand. "Da strongers ya gets, da mores peoples are gonnas wanna fight yas. Tink abouts its. Peoples always wanna proves dere da bests, yeah? How does ya do dat?"

"Kicking ass, taking names." Maya makes a jabbing motion at nothing in particular with the sausage on the end of her fork.

"Exactlys, blue. Ta get strongers, ya gotta fight stronger peoples. And den dere are gonnas be weaker peoples dat wanna fights yas too. It nevah ends."

"So, what, the best answer is to stay weak so the world can just do what it wants to you? Garush... you've changed." Nurrim shakes her head, and the orc looks like he might shout at her, but as you whimper, he growls and swallows his upset.

"Besides, the girls are old enough to make their own choices, I think. And it sounds like Nadia has made hers, at least. Emma, dear? Djanna?"

"I go where Nadia goes." Djanna says without hesitation, nodding as if that settles the matter. Emma nods her agreement.

"Well, you all can go fuck about in the countryside all you want. I'm going to stay here with tall, drab, and shouty." Maya slaps Garush on the shoulder as the orc goes to take a drink, and beer sloshes down the front of his greatcoat. Maya snickers and he glares at the small girl. "Aw, c'mon. You wouldn't hit cute li'l old me, right?"

"Then I want to be the one to train next." You smile at Garush, your tail swinging behind your chair. "So I can keep Emma and Djanna safe, and beat up bad guys if they need it, and that means I need to be able to fight." You nod. Garush, to his credit, only frowns a little before he nods agreement.

"Well... yas is alreadys plentys strongs. I tink dat means I knows da guys ya needs ta meets ta learns hows ta fights... but I'ms goings wit yas dis times."

You whisper, tristing your hands together in your lap. Garush looks between the blue demon girl and the older kitsune. To her credit, Nurrim seems appreciative. Maya seems a bit insulted.

"Hey, excuse me! I am perfectly adept at living in the city!"

"You tried to steal the flowers out of somebody's window." Emma quips.

"In my defense! I didn't think I'd get caught."

"Sir, you make arms and armor, right? I'd like something I can move in... and something long, that I can strike with from a distance."

"That'll be a spear, den. Ya know what ya like, girly, I'll give ya that." The blacksmith crosses his arms across his broad chest and nods, looking down at you. "What about you an' yer daughter?"

Chainmail is one of the single most encumbering forms of armor, since it hangs off the shoulders and can't support or distribute it's weight at all. It also swings around, requires a lot of maintenance to keep in good shape the the links move against each other constantly and rubs the oil away, takes a lot of time to repair, makes a lot of noise, doesn't help much against blunt impact, and finally, would catch in our fur.

Fuck chain. Get a coat-of-plates and jack chains.

You shake your head and don't address the man's comment. Can't he see she's a kitty, and you're a kobold? Eesh...

"I want armor, mister. Somethin' light that I can punch people in?" You ask, tail swishing lightly. The man regards you for a moment and nods, frowning. "Well, it's gonna take some time. Two custom jobs. I can make it work, of course, but how much you got?"

"Don't yas worries abouts da moneys. We gots it covereds." Garush pulls up a stool and eases himself down onto it. It creaks under him, screaming in protest under the orc's weight. The smith nods, turning and grabbing a measuring tape from a peg by the forge.

"Then, either of you girls know how to read a measuring tape?"

============================================================

You hit Garush hard enough to force him back, the orc holding his stomach with a groan. He plants his peg leg on the ground between two cobbles, giving a low growl.

"When da hells dids ya gets so strongs?"

You smile and wag your tail happily. Garush praised you! Of all people, Garush - the strongest uncle you know - praised you!

You dash forward, swinging at Garush. He bats at you, but you're too quick for him, striking under his guard and lightly striking him in the side. He jerks back, keeping his balance, and you follow it up with another blow to his stomach. He tries to keep his guard up, but he wasn't expecting you to be so swift, and it's clear he's on the back foot. You grin and barrel into him, knocking him over and pouncing on his chest, sitting atop him as your tail thrashes. You're smiling, tongue lolling out the side of your mouth, and you throw back your head, giving a high, thin victory howl.

"Awright, awright, ya gots me..." He pants at the exertion, reaching up and patting your head lightly. "Good girl."

You practically melt, giving a small giggle before you slip off of him and help him to his feet. "Again! Again!"

He shakes his head, slowly trudging over to the door to the warehouse and taking a seat on a barrel. Emma skips over to you with a cup of water, offering it to you. You whine softly, taking it and taking a quick drink before you walk over to Garush, Emma in tow. Djanna is trying to press a mug of beer on him, but he seems lost in thought.

"Garush? What's wrong?" You sit at his feet, looking up at him with your head tilted to the side, ears pricked forward. "You seem down."

"Not downs. I just didn't thinks ya'd have gotten so's strongs in a couple weeks. It's a bits ta takes in..."

You whimper and lower your ears and tail, hunch your shoulders, and stare at the ground as the sound of the waves breaking against the sea wall lends the mid-day haze a chill aura. "M'sorry I won... didn't mean to make you sad..."

He sighs and reaches out, hand planted between your ears, and pets you gently. He finally takes the beer with his free hand and takes a drink, thanking Djanna. "I'm not mads cause ya wons, girl, c'mons... it just means ya went throughs more thans I thoughts. Dese huntahs musta been a right buncha monstahs. Da bad kind."
>>
>>40614707
You tilt your head under his hand. "Huh? No, I told you, they were humans."

"Naw, not likes dat hons. Bein' a monstahs in dat way? It's alls on dah insides. Tings what preys on da weak just because deys cans? Dat's monstahs. Creatures dat live in dah dark and'll eat ya soon as look at ya? Dat's monstahs. Trust me. I've seen some in mah times."

"He's telling the truth, girls. He's really that old."

Nurrim walks up the street, a fur-lined cloak wrapped tight around her, a long white dress beneath that. She carries a cloth bag at her side, and a small leather pouch around her neck. She pulls it from between her cleavage and hands it to the orc. "Here's the change. This should be more than enough for the trip."

He nods and rises, hand pulling away from your head, though you stretch out your neck to prolong contact with a whine. He takes the bag and Nurrim frowns.

"Count it."

"Eh?"

"Count it. I think the woman at the store cheated us."

"I've knowns Ruby fer years nows. Why would she cheats us?"

"It feels to light..."

"Ya didn't counts it on yer owns?"

"...you know I don't know how."

"Ya w-"

"Don't make me repeat it!"

He practically winces, but nods, obliging the woman and counting out the coins. "Nope. Alls dere. See? Ya worrieds fer-"

She shoves the bag of goods into his hand.

"Great. Now make sure all this is here!"

"Ya didn't-"

"...can't read, either..."

Garush just grumbles and turns to the three of you. "Girls, it's beens a week. Go sees if ya armor's dones an' go checks on Maya, would yas? Make sure she's not tryins ta gas da block..."

You nod, and your sisters in tow, you set off down the street. A few residents of the dock district smile and wave, the three bunkhouse girls having become a common site in the last week, especially as stories of your exploits across the Skyteeth seem to have somehow spread.

You'll have to have a talk about that with Maya, later...

"Hey. Nadia. What's on your mind?" Djanna walks beside you, Emma traipsing along behind, her new shoes clicking on the paving stones.

You look up at her, ears perking. You hadn't realized you were staring at the street at your feet. "Hm? Oh... I... was just thinking about something Garush said."

"About getting stronger?"

You nod as Djanna turns down the side-street leading to Maya's workshop. She'd been spending a lot of her free time with the young demoness lately, and even now had a pair of crystaline vials hanging from her own belt.

"It worries me. You saw it... I knocked him over. He's... he's huge! And strong! I shouldn't have been able to..."

"Maybe you just got lucky?" Emma asks as the three of you stop in front of Maya's door, looking up at your back. "I mean, he did say you were moving fast."

You shrug softly. It explains it... maybe... but it doesn't help your mood any. Soon enough, Frelp - the goblin formerly known as Ice-axe - opens the door to the workshop. He's discarded his worn leathers for a cloth vest, breeches, and currently a leather apron that smells vaguely of sandalwood. "Mistress not accepting custom- oh, is you. Come, come. Welcome." He steps out of the doorway, gesturing you in.

The three of you step into a small parlor, and Frelp closes the door behind. You hear the other goblins shuffling about nearby, and the whole house smells of aromatics. Vibrant silk flowers sit in glass vases in the windowsill, and a long couch upholstered in crimson occupies the wall opposite.

"What you do here? Mistress busy. Glad for company, but busy."

"Just a social call, Frelp. Checking in to see if she needs anything." Djanna offers her hand and the goblin takes it, giving a firm shake before releasing it.

"Appreciate, but no need. Have everything we n-"

"DAGGER WANT KITTY!"

Frelp reaches up, rubbing his temple with long, green fingers. "Not again..."
>>
>>40615411
>"DAGGER WANT KITTY!"

Bitch we will fight you.
>>
>>40615411
"KITTY! KITTY KITTY KITTY!" The smaller, skinnier goblin stomps through the room, wearing a large-brimmed hat, the band having once apparently contained decorative flowers, though now only the stems remained as if the petals had been torn off in a fit of anger.

"Ya can't has a cat! We been ovah dis!" Burri - formerly Spear - follows him quickly, shouting. "Dere wouldn't be enough ta feeds alla us! An' deys stringy ta boots!"

"Back we go." Frelp growls softly, leading the way to the rear of the small house. Maya stands over a steaming cauldron, the odor of plants almost unbearable. Pots and planters containing small shoots line every surface in this room but the center, where a low fire burns under the copper cauldron. The young demoness' skin shines with sweat, her thin ankle-length skirt and top clinging to her in the heat. You immediately begin to sweat as you step over the threshold, and Djanna clears her throat. Emma hangs back, eyes narrowed at the demon girl, tails quivering.

"Maya? Hey, Maya."

The demoness turns and favors you all with a slow smile. There's something odd about it. It's languid, almost lazy, but there's both promise and threat in it. Her eyes are half-lidded, and she regards you as if she would like very much to eat you in a way that you think, somehow, you might survive. "Oh, well well. Welcome. You've just caught me working, I'm afraid. Do come in, though." she practically purrs, stepping off the step she'd been occupying, sashaying over to your little group. Something in the air in here is putting you very slowly at ease, and making your mind go a bit fuzzy.

You whine and slip into the room, looking down at Maya. She reaches out and runs her fingers through the fur on your hand, her slender fingers trailing up your arm. You take her gently by the wrist and pull her hand away and she responds by pressing against you, nuzzling your chest. "Nadia, you're so big and cute... I could just bury my face in your chest and be happy for the rest of my life. And Djanna, you've been such a help..." She pulls away from you and let her go. She moves to the dragon girl, who takes a step back, moving past Emma. Maya's eyes turn to the kitsune, and the demoness hums softly, her tail twitching. "Emma-"

"I will punch you. Do not tempt me."

"Aw, is this about the thing? I'm really, really sorry about that... you know I just had to try and keep order, you know? I didn't want to hurt you, honestly. In fact, I always thought you were really, really..."

Emma turns beet-red and her tails puff out as the demoness grabs her in a kiss, holding her close. She strains against Maya's arms, trying to break free. Djanna looks on, wide-eyed for a long moment before she moves to the two, trying to separate them. You step into the workshop, sniffing deeply. The whole place smells indescribable, so many scents layered over one-another, intermingled and combined. The heat and the humidity in the air work together on your mind to create a haze that you're easily able to focus through. You crouch low to the ground, inhaling deeply and repetitively until, sure enough, your nose brings you to the cauldron as the source of the odor. You lean over, taking a deep inhale, and sneeze violently.

Okay, now you're kind of feeling... no! No, bad girl. Focus!

"C'mooooon, let me touch 'em! I'll let you touch mine!" Maya's voice sounds syrupy sweet, with just enough pout in it that it might be considered cute.

"Keep your hands off my ears!"
>>
>>40615946
You whine, looking about. Quickly, you decide there's no better alternative. You grab the small cauldron, the heat seeping into your hand. You can't help but feel this should be burning you, but you don't have time to worry about it now. You push open a window, the latch breaking off.

You hurl it into the alley below.

===========================================

"...how many times are you going to make me apologize?" Maya frowns, hands on her hips as she looks studiously at anything but Emma, her tail lashing about like a serpent. "I told you, it... it was the mixture! I wouldn't have done that to you under any other circumstances!"

Emma just stares at the girl with pure murder in her eyes, cowering at your side and clinging to your coat. Her tails sway lightly back and forth, her ears flat against her head as you wait for the blacksmith to retrieve your gear from inside.

"Maya, just leave it for now. You apologized, she'll come around."

You nod and gently lay a hand on Emma's back. "She did for me, she will for you. Right, Emma?"

The small fox girl gives a whining growl high in her throat, eyes not leaving the demoness.

Do you have any vague plans for a love interest down the road? I"m assuming that Nadia is too sisterly towards her sisters.
>>
>>40616317
If things progress, well, it ends when people get bored. Inhave arxs and storylines to last a long time, and in theory a trip to the market could take a lot of threads.

Love interest? I have a couple in mind, but it's not a requirement. She could rnd up a spinster if she wants, or date a chick. She feels love for her sistersz but they aren't blood so that could grow or freeze off, depending.

I mean, we almost got killed by hunters, but that was because we followed a dangerous trap thinking it was a plot point. I don't know how we are supposed to do it. Play safe? Follow something shiny? Honestly I think I'm now a bit spooked at trying to following anything that looks dangerous now.

I think this whole thing came off as me slapping you on the wrist for being adventurous, and I didn't mean it to. I wanted to introduce the arc boss, that's about it. What sort of fist weapons are there? Are they common in this realm?
I'd guess we'd have to get some kinda caestus so that we can retain use of our claws
>>
>>40620399
Not a great deal, I'm afraid. I could give a roll, and Nadia could maybe remember those knuckle-pad MMA glove things and she could jury-rig something, or describe it and let somebody else work it out. Otherwise, there's always the tried and true brass knuckles. Given the odd size and shape of a kobold's hands, anything you do would be custom work and not terribly cheap.

Barring that, traveling south to cities with a gladiatorial tradition would yield more ready-made cesti, katar, etc. Dvotysk does have the odd traveller wintering in the city, so you could find out about them without hitting the road.
>>
>>40620584
Forgive me if this starts shit again, but I want to kill this argument for good: are Nadia's claws limited to the strength of keratin? One of the things that seemed to fuel the weapon shitstorm was the idea that our claws were strictly inferior to metal from a material standpoint, but considering this is a fantasy setting I don't see any reason to assume that's the case, or at least will always be the case. With age and/or the right evolutions, could we end up with claws equivalent to iron or steel, or even better?

Captcha, stop. That's a hammer, not ice cream.

With age comes power, so yes. Given time, your claws and fists can become superior to MUNDANE mortal materials.

You can cave in a steel breastplate. Adamant, enchanted items, etc? No.

Your claws won't be able to rend through metal like hot butter, but you can destroy it/damage it enough to uselessness. If nothing else, it could force a retreat. Don't look for that to happen for a while yet, though. They'll have their best use against the unarmored. For armored opponents, best to fight smart always rather than rely on an all-out assault

As long as nadia stays cute(of course she can grow up, I meant her cuddling her buddies and thingys) I have no reason to object or deter this guy.

This will end so much arguements.
Thanks lotus.

How's Maya's alchemy? Can we get poisons and shit from her?
>>
We still need to ask Nirrum about her and Garush's relationship.
>>
>>40620887
Journeyman-tier, with a focus on CC-tyoe items. Tanglefoot Bags, bottles of Stinking Cloud, etc. She's kind of an idiot savant/prodigy, though, so a lot of it is throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. Of course, that was limited in the past by what materials she could get.

Now? Prepare the gast masks.
>>
>>40620924
>gast masks
Oh god she's a necromancer
I don't know if you did this on purpose, but in one edition of d&d, ghast's actualy have an aura of stench. so ghast masks could be a real thing

We Chlorinebold now?

If you want to be evil, sure.

Incidentally, I'm trying to convince Sigil to have a squadron of harpies that carry messenger bags full of poison gas vials on each hip, leather strips bound to their ankles connected to breakaway seams on the bottom of the bags.

Harpy Vietnam.

You know, on /mgqg/ a certain writefag used that idea, (s)he wrote it as harpies throwing down at the enemy army while they were exposed in the wheat fields.
not only this covered the protagonist's ass and his infiltrated small platoon escape against the opponents(he did not plan for this ambush), it fucked up their industry AND military badly. Two fucking legions burned to death because everywhere is either wheat/burning wheat/smoke.

The question is, how many rounds does the gun contain, and how good of a shot is that player.
I just pray for nadia and co's safety.

But, pray to whom? Mwahahahaha!

We still have the opportunity in the future. We even have our own producer of chlorine bombs who I'm sure would be happy to help us.

yeeeeah, but it's just not the same.

You have Maya. Her hair's soft.
>>
>>40622043
Gas the goblins? Light haired bold master race? Cute and fluffy.
>>
>>40622131
Is her hair compairable to emma/nadia?
>>
>>40622528
>Gas the humans, monster war now!
>>
>>40622664
Nadia's is bushy and poofy. Thick and deep, but really messy.

Emma's is very sleek and smooth, warm and heavy. As plush as the fur on her tails.

Djanna's is long and thin. Silky and straight.

Maya's is kind of kinky at the ends with a slight wave. Enough to catch the light if you look at it right. It's soft, but more the kind you want to run your fingers through and play with than pet.

In my opinion, best hair ranking:

Emma
Nadia
Maya
Djanna

>Emma

Nigga, wut?
>>
>>40623869
She's a kitsune, they are the fluffiest. Always.
>>

As it's been mentioned that Djanna has a broad tail, the biologist in me has to ask whether her monsterkind happens to be related to amphibians or water lizards (beyond dragons being lizards).

Broader tails are advantageous in water environments, as they have a stronger stroke (thus pushing their owner farther in the water) and can be used to strike things during fights much as Djanna's done. However, their weight and size made them prone to injury when on land (due to largely needing to be dragged along the ground, thereby developing cuts and scrapes and tears and things), as well as tiring their owner out from having to lug a (useless for movement outside of water) giant tail everywhere.

The combination of injury and extra exertion rendered the heavy-tails unable to properly compete with the lighter-tails back when the prototype lizards evolved from amphibians, leading to the thinner tails we see now in lizards (and by extent every other tailed land animal) becoming dominant.

I'm more than aware that Earth evolutionary history means largely jack shit in a land of magic, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Until they start growing and evolving, young monsters can, at best, be said to be a clusterfuck. Djanna and Sylea are both Eastern-style dragons, while Kardas is a Western-style dragon. Djanna's thicker tail is probably an inheritance from her father, but as of Djanna's last evo, she's begun to more closely resemble her mother's archetype, with her tail becoming longer and slightly thinner. She's going to lose some power, but she's getting smarter and more dextrous (reflecting her being the team's healer, basically, and angling toward anon wanting her to take the alchemist/artificer route).
