Heizou, the city with sciences and advancements flying through the airways, the electrical lines, and even through the veins of the Pokémon and people. People living their lives in such a Multi-leveled Metropolis, holograms and augmented reality programs. Pokémon living in apartments with their masters, on the streets hidden away with the alleyways, or within the huge ‘Safari Zone’ where one can visit and attempt to capture new Pokémon.
Of course, with Science and Technological advancements, the city is for the most part ‘Ruled’ by the Pokémon League. Though most of the pull is ruled by the Three Megacorporation’s, The Devon Corporation, Silph Co., and Galactic Enterprises. Each having their own products to influence the city and its populace.

Silph Co. contributing TMs to teach Pokémon moves through specialized gene therapy. Along with the latest in Capturing Technology. As well, controlling and owning the Safari Zone. Setting certain parts off for certain ‘Members’ or those with amounts of League Points. As Pokeballs are an unknown and have not been invented, pokemon have to be kept in apartments or special areas.

The Devon Corporation, most famous for funding the scientists who created the first Eevee through careful genetics, along with the gene-therapy where Pokémon have been able to evolve into forms never thought possible. Pokémon like Growlith becoming brand new Pokémon for example. Although their Pokémon department responsible for reviving Pokémon long lost to us all through extinction, as well through programming.

Galactic Enterprise has always had a bit of a shady background, once thought to be the front for a shady criminal organization. If this is true, or even still is, has never been proven or disproven. The company has long since been the pioneer in Cybernetic Augmentation Technologies for things like prosthetics and ‘upgrades’ to both people and Pokémon. Also known for their work with Robotics and Programming with the ‘invention’ of Rotom and its “Appliance Upgrades”, as well as the line of Beldum and Magnemite.

Battling is in a Thriving time in the city, and the league houses its own league with all the structure and offices of a full nation-wide League. Though it is Sponsored jointly by the three megacorps of Heizhou: Silph Co. Devon Corporation, and Galactic Enterprise. Eight League Arenas placed about as Gyms where one can earn the traditional ‘Badges’ won from such League Admins that also work as sponsors for new products and sometimes working their whole teams around such things.

Pokémon Rangers are a Semi-Autonomous group of Trainers that act as a direct subsidiary of the Pokémon League as Law Enforcement and given jurisdiction by the ruling powers over huge parts of the city to keep order or patrol the Safari Zone or escorting VIP. Though there are a few ways that even these folk are used by the corporations though the popular show ‘Guardian Signs’ for the world to watch the ‘Heroics’. Which earns them special ‘points’ used in their own certain rights and votes in their fellow while wearing flashy outfits and advertise to earn some. Some do wear masks and keep to their privacy for their own safety however.

You are a simple citizen, with aspirations of a bit of wealth, a bit of power, and more than a little want of food for the table when you go back to your apartment at night.

Who are we?

A: James: 19 Male Pokemart Employee, recently moved out of his parent's place as he has a semi-stable job that pays the bills.

B: Holly: 22 Female A college student working on a degree in PokeScience, currently lives in an apartment that she pays for by doing first aid on the local pokemon.

C: Write in, give him/her a backstory that is rather average joe with a potential for greatness.

Another day, another Dollar. That's how it was in the Fifty Eight Street Pokemart. Not many people actually came into the store for more than Milk and some snacks for the local battle club down the street and up a few levels.

The inside was similiar to any corner store, rows of snacks, a few rows of potions and elixirs for trainers, and a fridge near the back for soda and ice cream.

It was about midnight as well, another nine hours of his life down the pisser as he went to go lock the front doors when he saw a figure move away from one of the street lights as he turned the key.

It was most likely a stray or someone's pet that got out. He turned when he heard a loud bang and saw one of the street lights had been torn in Half.

James decides to stay and keep looking when he sees a pair of figures dart across the streets. A bit of a flash of red and a more humanoid figure standing in a street lamp before a beam of light blue light freezed the glass in front of James which he stumbled back from just in time from when a Sneasel crashed through, covering the ground in broken glass.

"Oh shit!" James shouts nearly slugging the pokemon as he runs toward the counter and slides over, knocking Everything on the ground.

Another Pokemon slithered through the broken window, a large Seviper followed by a man in a dark green cloak holding what seemed like a Mace.

Snatching the Bat and swinging at the Sneasel who's flying at him and hitting it into one of the many rows which knocks over many of the rows of merchandise before fleeing to the back room and looking for something to use.

Pick Two:

A: Cellphone in the locker, good thing that's there to call.
B: Old metal board, has a rather 'racist' slogan now but good for a shield.
C: A Tazer, not good against pokemon but decent against humans.
D: A fire extinguisher, Robust as shit.

I wasn't asking because I didn't know, I asked because the only way I could infer surgery was from the mention of AoPH. How the hell does "upgrades to James" mean surgery?

And you wait until the end of the goddamn thread before asking for stuff like that, since it heavily affects the setting and mechanics of the quest. Even after forgetting how badly you're jinxing everything by adding in AoPH.

You grab the old 'Don't Get Jynxed' board along with the phone out of your locker, holding the makeshift shield against the door as you dial you get a very poliet yet tired sounding voice on the other side, James does his best and simply shouts through in his nervous state 'Robbery! Pokemon! 52nd Street Pokemart! Send the rangers!" Before the door is broken down and the phone is flown across the room, hopefully it got the message across.

Now there were two men, both dressed the same with the same mace. One lifting their hands to show it was cloaked in a dark green glove pointing at the young man.

Luckily as the two pokemon flew at you, a good 'shield check' was made on the lighter of the two while you attempted to brain the Seviper, the main word in that being attempted, as the Seviper caught it in his mouth and snapped it to splinters. Well Shit.

James did his best to swing his shield at the men and the Snake as the Sneasel sat in a pile of half cooked churros in a daze.

A: Stand your ground, you might be able to keep yourself relatively defended in the back room while the two psychos send their snack after you.

A Hit and Run, his only chance.

"SUCK IT FREAKS!" James shouts, not the best 'war cry' but one fitting enough to cause the men to shudder, chucking until one of them was hit in the face with a fist and the other got a good face full of metal, even making a dent in the metal. That had to hurt.

Before they could react he broke through the window covering his face with his makeshift shield when he saw a large flying creature coming down the road following by sirens. The Rangers seemed to have arrived.

"Ha! Suck that the rangers are here you ass-" James started to say when he felt a hand grip him by his collar and pull him up. Looking back he saw a third man in robes, though he was much...bigger and an Ekans was drapped around his neck.

"OH SHIT!" James shouted, jerking his knee right into the big man's groin. He jerked and dropped James moving his hands to his abused testes.

"You little shit." He said, now in a comically high voice. Similiar to that of 'Mini-Me' in the Austin Pansear Movies. Old movies, still good in Jame's Opinions. "I'm gonna right your head off."

"Oh really now?" A Voice asked, that of a woman causing both men to look back. A rather 'scantily clad' woman in ranger gear with a Ledian hovering close by.

"Oh the rangers...Our Lord with slash you to Ribbons!" The big man said, his voice still high pitched and his Snake blew a huge load of smoke.

The ranger diving in with her pokemon as James was surrounded by a few more rangers, more 'intern' types as he was helped up and his 'shield' was taken and brushed off while others ran into the building.

After about a thirty minutes James was sitting on the back of a Ranger truck. His boss on the phone with the Rangers as he filled out a police report, he remembered something that he saw. They were all wearing robes, all the same robes.

A: Make a note of it on the report.

"Freaky...Green Snake robes." James muttered to himself and got up, stretching and taking his 'shield' with him. No sense in leaving it, and none of the freaks were caught. Some sort of Smoke Screen or a teleporting pokemon got them out in time.

His boss had told him he gets a week paid vacation and a hefty bonus. For defending the store and looking good on the secruity cameras to get the store better publicity as 'The Swinger of 52nd Street.' The old coot didn't realize what that actually made him look like.

James went to his apartment, a few small rooms with a futon and a microwave with a minifridge under it. It sucked to have so few dollars.

The night passed, and James woke up to check his mail, dressed in rather plain street cloths he found a yellow envelope that was bulging with something and written to him with no return postage.

"Hey," James asked, looking to his neighbor who hung out in the lobby more than what was probably healthy, "You know who left this?"

"Dunno, fell asleep a few hours ago, was there when I got I suppose." He said, stretching and opening his Data-Pad, reading another novel about the old world pokemon trainers.

"Thanks." James said, walking back to his apartment and folding his futon into a couch to flop down and rip it open...with at least two thousand dollars in twenties coming out of the envelope. "Holy shit..."

It was enough to get entry to the Safari Zone's basic levels, along with gear to get a pokemon captured with a guide's help. He kept rooting and found a small buisiness card with the symbol of a Jagged bit of ice on it's front, with genlte hand written letters in a curling font.

James quickly got his coat, an old pair of boots that barely fit him from when he went hiking with his grandfather in the more safe parts of the preserve. He quicly shoved the money into his pocket, keeping about two hundred in the freeze.

Cold Assets he liked to call it.

As he got off the many magnetic trams, he noticed that the Safari Zone's Plaza was rather dead. Looking at the time it was near Eight in the morning, not an hour after it had opened.

James shrugged, only a few shops were opened and he walked into one of the small shops. It was mostly stuffed pokemon models, or hard stuff you'd cut up and put together in a bottle. There weren't any maps, not to be seen but there was a few 'discount' tranq guns with some older darts at a hundred bucks.

The issue with the guns at the Safari Zone, the new ones you could only rent for a couple hours. Places like this you could buy one, keep it for yourself and bring it into the Safari Zone after a quick check. Though you had to supply your own Ammo.

Current Cash: 2145 Bucks

James tapped the glass deciding, the old man running the shop asking for his ID. Of age so he could own such a weapon. He signed a few things and handed over the money, the man didn't seem phased that it was in Cash. He shrugged and handed the case of darts over then the gun with 'complimentary' strap that had a few dark brown stains...James didn't want to ask what it was.

It's and old fashioned Tranq Rifle, the kind that you expect to sorta see as the Sterotype for such a weapon. It's got shoddy scope but seems actuate.

Pokeballs do not actually exist, if they did one wouldn't really need a Tranq Gun or all the fun Cages one could buy. All pokemon live outside of balls in apartments or large floors in apartment buildings that act a bit like Kennels. So pokemon that weigh in the several tons don't belong to individuals unless they are very wealthy or they pay 'rent' at Aquariums and the like.

There are a few posters, mentioning how for the next week the Cave Habitate would be off limits due to Unforseen happenings in the Safari Zone. Kind of odd, as the Safari zone normally only closes places for ViPs and thats only for a few hours at a time not days.

"The Mountains seems fine." James finally decides clicking it and a door opened up, he slipped the dart box in his pocket and shouldered his gun again and walked inside. It was a long elevator ride, luckily the city had made most of the elevators like this into rather comfy lounges. There was a small TV, showing the news. Seems his story didn't make it further than his 'quarter' of the city.

As the elevator came to a stop, the door opened up to the 'mountain range' he hadn't been much further than the simple park sections that were open to the public where tame pokemon roamed. He stepped out in his boot and whistled seeing the elevator was built into a cave which he exited from in relavtive safety...now he had to decide where to go.

The rate of folks going missing wasn't High...though it did happen once every few months but most folks came back find if a bit...singed or otherwise damaged depending on the place they were in.

James walked for...about a mile or so he would guess when he heard a sound around the bend in the path of the cliff. Peaking out he saw....

As James moved around the corner, he saw what seemed to be a little critter chewing on...a huge metal barrel someone left full of food. It seemed to be blue and not long after it belched leaning back.

It seemed to have a grey bone helmet out of it's head, which it used to make a big dent to cause a bit more of the food to spill out. Clearly, this was a Bagon.

James lined up the shot, the iron sight lined up rather well as the pokemon munched on more food before the dart shot out with a great 'pooft'. It jumped at the sound and it shuddered for a moment looking back nearly drooling and landing on it's ass.

James looked at the box of shell and read, "Can take down a Raging Rampardos, Gurenteed." Maybe it was a little too strong. James walked over to poke at the snoring pokemon, it's tail wagging and the dart stuck in it's back.

A: Pick it up and bring it to the 'lounge' area. There are a few 'holding' cages with locks.
B: Take the dart out, make sure it's okay after it wakes up.

"Come on you..." Jame's Said, shaking it a bit and putting it under his arm. It was a little heavy, but not enough to cause That much of an issue. He kept walking and wnet into the large lounge area and put the Bagon into the holding pen, and it was tagged by a small clip with his name.

James looked over, out of twenty minutes of walking, he had another hour and forty minutes to catch a few more...

Heading down the low road, it was less of a road and more of a goat path. James held his gun under his arm, and came to a small mountain lake where he saw something rather strange.

It seemed something had dug a whole past all the laid stone and into a system of rooms below. This might be something that causes a bit of trouble for the Safari zone...probably would do good to report it.

Though you probably could explore the inside first, see what caused it.

A: Explore it.
B: Go back to the little lounge, call the front desk.

"Might as well see what I can see..." James said to himself, going down the path and seeing a few pokemon tracks around the hole.

Inside it seemed to be some kind of Marsh not always safe for newer trainers but with that sorta traq rifle...it might do you some well to catch a pokemon if just to sell on the market. Some folks made a living that way.

It seemed a bit swampy, and most pokemon in the area were poison types of bug types. There seemed to have a sort of path of whatever dug in or out made toward it's new 'home'.

A: Follow the path.
B: Stay near the hole to see if there were any nearby pokemon in a small glade or something.
C: Turn back and give the desk a call.

"This is where we shall begin the ceremony." A Voice said, a deep voice that caused James to stumble and press against a tree. He glanced around and saw a bowl where a very large man and a shorter man stood in front of what seemed to be some old plate.

"Why not in one of our homes, where we don't have to pay?" It was a very high pitched voice...the one from the night before.

"Because the Rangers almost caught us yesterday because of that idiot who costed us valuable time." The deeper voice said before moving to show a struggling Croconaw tied down in front of the plate while a large Druggedon, the thing that probably made the huge ass hole, slept not far from it's apparent owners.

"Oh our great one, the devourer of all things...bless this sacrifice so we may become more powerful." The figure spoke, a buzzing sound coming not far from Jame's head showing a Beedrill was sitting on a branch staring. It didn't seem hostile...

After a few moments, a figure stepped out of the bushes with robes on. "None have entered, Mister S." The voice was familiar. "But I suggest we hurry, my people are checking the Caves for you and not here but we must hurry." She insisted.

"What in the world...?" A small figure appeared behind the last hooded figure, a Ledian. Not an overly rare pokemon but not one that was popular. He leveled his gun at them all, but couldn't see through the scope enough to make out faces before the Ledian turned its head to stare directly at the glint.

"What is it Shu? See something?" The figure asked looking the same direction.

"Shit shit shit..." The trigger was pulled and he shuddered as he ran. He heard a loud thud as he ran and a few shouts for help and to follow.

James didn't bother to try to reload the rifle. He panted, he wasn't used to running through such an area. He looked around and stumbled through the hole.

A: Head into the wilderness.
B: Head toward the lounge, your new pokemon, and take the elevator to safety.

As you ran, you looked back and saw a few figures in the distance as you went. You pointed the gun sloppily back. It wasn't loaded but the enemy didn't know that. You kept it pointed that way until you reached the lounge area. You saw the Bagon was eating, again and looked up at you as you scooped it up.

It seemed a bit dazed still, and you kept pressing the elevator button until it opened and he hurried inside, dropping the rifle and the pokemon as his cell was pulled out of his pocket. He started to dial and a voice spoke, "This is Ranger Station for the Silph Co Safari Zone, what is your emergency?"

"There are more of the cultists, the same ones from the last night. In the Safari zone in some kinda marsh thing connected to the mountains. Send the rangers!" James shouted as the one on the other line told him they'd meet him in the lobby.

The bagon was chewing on the strap dumbly and headbutted his leg as James slid down the side. "This is going to be another Long day." He muttered.

A: Stay in the elevator until help arrives, even though it reached the lobby.
