You are Siegfried Schmidt, a former guard from the city of Morsland. Due to various circumstances, you have become the new wielder of Galadriel, a holy sword which houses a powerful six-winged angel of the same name. Now you have come to the White Watchtower, a fortress close to the border between the Forsaken Lands and the kingdom of Iseria, to train with the crusaders so that you can protect yourself from the demons that might come after you now that the sword is in your possession.

Today seemed like it would be another ordinary day at the Red Watchtower, until you received another vision. This time, the voice warned you that you would meet two people soon, one you've met before and one you have not, and advised that you trust them. After receiving this warning, you were awoken by the sound of someone knocking on your door. It was the Red Watchtower's Knight-Captain, asking you to come with him down to the Archives. As you followed him, it became more and more clear that this was a trap, and a very obvious one at that. However, you played along, and were ambushed by the fake captain's co-conspirators, one of which you recognized as Aleria, your obsessive fan's less obsessive friend. As it turns out, this was not a trap for you, but a trap set by her to get rid of her companions. After a short fight, it was revealed that this Aleria is the same that you killed before, and the real reason you were brought her was to speak with something hidden behind the brass door at the bottom of the archives.

'Pleased to make your acquaintance, Siegfried. I am called the Leviathan. Now that you're here, we have much to discuss.'

You feel a flash of panic coming from Galadriel in the back of your mind. Even the blade in your hand starts to heat up in reaction. You've never heard the name before, but judging by Galadriel's reaction, you need to do something now. You try to move, but find your feet are still immobilized.

'You're a liar! The real Leviathan was slain in battle by Aurelius during the Great Crusade. I saw it with my own eyes.'

'You're correct that I was slain in the Great Crusade, but it was not by your dead king's hands. I was wounded, but still alive when your forces were forced to retreat by Malaphas' reinforcements.'

'He pierced your heart in full view of everyone!'

'A shame he didn't pierce the other two. But enough of that, Aleria, would you be so kind as to remove me from this damned case?'

“With pleasure.” Aleria says, entering the brass room and opening the stone case within. The stone lid slowly grinds open, falling to the floor. She reaches in, and pulls out a peculiar belt, seemingly constructed of reptilian scales.

'Ah, it feels good to finally be free from this case.'

>'Galadriel, who is she?'

'Galadriel, who is she?'

'If she's telling the truth, she's the Leviathan, the Demon Lord of Envy. She should have been killed in the Great Crusade, but-'

'I am telling the truth. Though I was indeed killed during the Great Crusade.'

"If that's true, then how are you here?"

'That's a long story. Unfortunately, we don't have much time, so I'll be brief. After I was killed, I had the fortune of being pulled back from the Void by a loyal mortal servant named Makar. Using this belt constructed from my scales as a focus, he tried to pull my soul back from the Void. Sadly for him, the spell proved too much for him to handle, and he died. However, he did succeed in pulling back a small shard of my soul, which took refuge in the belt you see before you. I retained my memories, but only a small fragment of my power. However, a group of mortals stumbled upon the shack where Makar cast the spell and found me. I tried to control their minds, but they were stronger than I'd predicted. Thankfully, they didn't seem to realize the true nature of the belt they found. When they couldn't destroy me, they had me sent here, to be locked away. And so I've remained here ever since.'

'Is that possible Galadriel?'

'It's not impossible, no. This Makar must have been a very powerful mage to have done it though.'

'Indeed, he was. A shame he died, but he served his purpose.'

"You still haven't told us how you really died. If Aurelius didn't kill you, then who did?"

'The ones who really killed me were Malaphas, with help from that runt Lilith.'
>>
>>40669710
'What?!'

'You think all Demon Lords were happy to serve Malaphas? When Malaphas declared himself king, many of us challenged him. I was one. However, I was defeated, and allowed to live on the condition that I give him my absolute loyalty. I complied, but I would not let myself be subjugated forever. I planned to kill him as soon as the opportunity arose. Unfortunately, Lilith somehow caught on to my scheming and informed Malaphas. So, after my battle with Aurelius, Malaphas killed me while I was to injured to fight, then killed everyone else who witnessed it. To this day, everyone thinks I was killed by Aurelius. It's possible that the truth would have never gotten out, had I not met dear Aleria.'

"Which brings us to where we are now." Aleria says.

"Why bring us down here then? What do you want?"

'Simple. I want revenge. And to that end, I think we can help each other.'

"You know, something tells me trusting a Demon Lord is a very bad idea. Why should I help you?"

'Besides the fact that you're completely at my mercy right now? You've probably noticed by now that you can't move. If I wanted, I could have Aleria kill you right now. As far as the people here would know, you were lured into the Archives and killed by traitors. No one would ever know what really happened.'

Shit, was that why you were lured down here? It wasn't for an ambush, it was to pin the blame on those dead traitors if you didn't comply. You have to find a way to break free.

'Threats aside, it would be in your best interest to work with us. I may be confined to this belt, but I can still help you. Though weakened, I can still use my magic to help you. Not only that, but if word got out that I'm still alive, and that Malaphas was the one who killed me, I assure you that any demon who once served under me would join your cause. I'm sure you can see the benefit in that.'

'An army of demons loyal to someone who could turn on us at a moment's notice. How useful.' Galadriel says dryly.

'What would I gain in turning on you? As much as it pains me to say it, I can't fight Malaphas. I can't even fight Lilith like this. If I want revenge, I need someone to fight for me, and while Aleria is a very clever girl, she wouldn't last a second against either of them.'

'And what happens after the war's over then?'

'You think I'll turn on you once Malaphas is dead? Look at me, what do you think I could possibly do to you if you've gotten strong enough to beat Malaphas himself?'

'I don't plan on finding out.'
>>
>>40670838
You hear what sounds like a reptilian hiss echo in your mind. 'You're stubborn fool. Alright then, how do you plan to reach Malaphas? Assuming you somehow manage to beat Alastor, Balaam, and Eligos, what then? Lilith won't fight you the way they will, she'll twist your mind and make you plunge a knife's blade into your own heart. She'll never willingly fight you head on, she'll just keep prodding at your mind until she breaks through. How will you fight that?'

'Siegfried has a strong will, it won't be so easy to-'

'Do you really think a mere mortal can fend off Lilith's mental attacks? Don't make me laugh. She's bent stronger men than him to her will, and as soon as she breaks his mental defenses it's all over. And that's assuming he can even get passed the first three. Are you sure you can even help him do that much? You've tried 27 times before from what I've heard, and look how that turned out.'

Your sword starts to glow a dim red. 'How DARE you-'

'I, however, can help him. Even in this weakened stage, I can lend him my strength when he needs it. And I was an expert in mind-control before Lilith so much as dabbled in the art. I can help him resist her influences. I can help him fight. If we work together, he might actually stand a chance. I get my revenge, and you take back the Forsaken Lands. It's in both our favor to work together.'

You feel whatever magic's binding you start to slacken, just a little. You could try and break free if you want.

>Break free now
>Wait for it

>"And what do you plan on doing once the war's over?"
>"Do you really think anyone would support working with a Demon Lord? Even if I wanted to, the Watchtowers would never support it."

You struggle against whatever magic's keeping you in place. Suddenly it gives, and you can move again. You hold your sword at the ready, while Aleria's hand start to grow claws.

'Wait.' Leviathan commands, and Aleria reluctantly begins to change her hands back to normal. 'Seems I'm losing my touch if you've managed to break free.'

"Seems like it. Now before I decide whether to fight or not, what exactly do you plan on doing once the war's over? What's to stop you from betraying us when the opportunity arises?"

'Simple. I plan on taking whatever demons are still alive and returning to the Void. Perhaps there I can regain my body, and we can rebuild. As for what's stopping me from betraying you, the fact I can't fight Malaphas without your help is probably a good start. Were I not weakened, I would not need your help, yet here I am.'

'And what's stopping you from invading once you've recovered in the Void?' Galadriel asks.

'If Malaphas is dead, then I imagine Rathanael, or whoever's king of the angels now, would intervene if we invaded again. That's more trouble than it's worth. Besides, I've almost died in one Great Crusade, I've no desire to die in another, nor to send my children to die for scraps of mortal soil.'

"Children?"

"Lord Leviathan is like a mother to us." Aleria answers. "It's why we're loyal to her, and it's why I'm willing to work with the asshole that cut my head off."

'Your loyalty is appreciated, Aleria. Thank you. Now, I feel I've explained myself long enough. I'm offering you my help, will you accept it or not?"

You remember the voice from your vision, telling you to trust them. Still, you don't even trust the voice from your visions yet, how do you know this isn't some sort of plot? Still, it is a tempting offer, assuming she's true to her word...

'She might have a point, Galadriel. I don't really trust her, but if she's willing to help then maybe we should accept.'
>>
>>40671649
>trusting demons who's MO is lying and mind raping people
>>
>>40671675
'You're not serious, are you?' Galadriel asks, surprised.

'I know, it's suspicious, but what about what the voice from my visions said? It might be worth considering.'

'How do you know she was not the voice from your vision?'

'Didn't you say it had to be someone in the Void? How could she have seen me practicing in the sword plane, or enchanting the honor guard's weapons?'

'I don't know what visions or voice you're talking about.' Leviathan interrupts. 'But I assure you, I had no contact with either of you before now. If I had, you'd have known.'

'Yes, because why would a Demon Lord lie?' Galadriel says sarcastically.

'We don't have time for this bickering. I'm offering my help, will you take it, or not?'

'...I do not trust her Siegfried. I trust you though, so if you think it's for the best, I will accept it.'

You think for a moment. "Do you really think anyone would support working with a Demon Lord? Even if I wanted to, the Watchtowers would never support it."

"Are you sure about that? You've been trying to take back the Forsaken Lands for well over a thousand years. Clearly the old method's not working, I'm sure we could convince them, one way or another. Otherwise, just don't tell them."

"And how the Void would I hide that I'm carrying a Demon Lord with me? Besides, if House Lione found out, they'd probably cut me down on the spot."

The belt's appearance begins to change. A moment later, it looks like a normal leather belt.

"Even weakened, I'm still the Demon Lord of Envy. Hiding is one of my many specialties. No one will know unless you tell them. And if it bothers you so much, Aleria can keep my belt safe and hidden until you need it.'

This is a big decision. On the one hand, she could be an invaluable help in the Crusade. On the other hand, she's a Demon Lord, and working with her might be risky. You think for a moment, before giving her your answer.

Your first instinct is to refuse, but you have to admit that Leviathan could be a huge help if she's telling the truth. Not only that, but you keep thinking back to the voice from your visions.

'I need you to trust them anyways, or else things will get a lot more difficult for all of us.'

"Fine, I'll accept." You tell her.

'Finally, an answer. Good to know one of you isn't too thick-headed to see the benefits of working together.'

'If that's you're decision Siegfried, then I'll trust you know what you're doing. If we're going to be working with them though, we need to decide what we're going to do about the Watchtowers.'

>'We'll keep it a secret, for now at least. We'll wait until it's a good time to tell them.'

Not unless she had another arch-mage tier sorcerer summon her back, like the last one did. But considering we're the first to find out she isn't quite dead since then, I doubt anyone around today cares enough to attempt it.

'We'll sit down with the Knight-Captains and tell them. It may take some convincing, but they know we need all the help we can get. For now, Aleria can hold onto Leviathan's belt until we need it. We'll keep things under wraps until we can speak with the captains though, we don't need people getting the wrong idea.'

'How prudent.' Leviathan says. 'Personally, I think what they don't know won't hurt them, but we'll do it your way if that's what you want.'

"It's better to tell them directly than to hide it. If we didn't tell them and they found out, they might see it as a betrayal. Besides, I was named Siegfried for a reason, I don't want to lie to them all."

'That is a wise decision. We should tell Knight-Captain Arnault to have the other captains come here while we're at the palace. We can speak with them after we've returned.' Galadriel suggests.

"Then it's decided then. Aleria, you hold onto Leviathan for now. We'll talk with the Knight-Captains about this as soon as possible."

Aleria nods and puts on Leviathan's belt, still disguised as a normal leather belt. "Fine. Let's hurry up and get out of here then. Lord Leviathan can't keep the guard hypnotized forever, and I need to get these keys back before anyone notices they're gone."

"You hypnotized the guards?"

'Don't worry, they're fine. Once we've covered our tracks, I'll have them return to their posts and it'll be as if nothing happened.'

"What about the bodies?"

"I'll take care of them." Aleria says

"How?"

"Don't worry about it. Just get out of here, and don't tell anyone about what happened."

You shrug and begin walking back up the stairs. Convincing the Knight-Captains to accept a Demon Lord's help will be difficult, but it's better than lying, and you need all the help you can get.

The "Jackass" part of this doesn't really compute anymore. Siegfried might have misgivings towards being the Champion, but he's proven himself capable of Galadriel's power so far.

Darkness, all around. No light, no landmarks, nothing, just darkness in every direction. You look down at your hands. Despite there being no light, you can see yourself perfectly fine, but where are you?

"That was close. For a moment, I thought you were going to fight those three."

That voice, you recognize it. So this is another vision.

"You did good, Siegfried. I'm glad you listened."

That voice, that's not the same one. There are more of them?

"Who are you?"

"You're real fond of that question, aren't you?"

"He's right to ask. You were a fool to expect him to blindly trust you, you know."

"The less he knows, the better. You know that."

"Telling him our names will not harm anything. If you will not tell him yours, then I will."

Something shimmers in front of you, and a figure steps forward. The figure is so tall that your head only comes up to his knees. He wears golden armor very similar to Galadriels, and has six white wings. On his back is a greatsword, nearly three times as big as you are.

"Greeting Siegfried. I am Zaphiel, first Seraph of my choir in the Circle of Righteousness. I hope you will forgive us for all the secrecy."

Zaphiel? Circle of Righteousness? He's Galadriel's old commander, you remember she told you about him once.

"You're Galadriel's old commander, aren't you? How are we talking right now, I thought you were in the Void with the other angels?"

"I am. It is thanks to my partner that we are able to speak with you."
>>
Oh shit nigger.
>>
>>40672929
"I thought your kind weren't allowed to help us in any way."

"We are not, which is why you must keep this meeting a secret, even from Galadriel. If Rathanael learns about this, I fear I won't be able to help you any more."

"Things are changing, Siegfried." The original voice says. "You don't know it, but there's a lot going on both here, and in your world. We can't tell you what, and we can't tell you why, not yet. We need you to trust us, or trust him if you don't trust me."

"I am sure you're wary of allying with the Leviathan and her cohort. I cannot blame you. However, it is a good thing that you did. She will help you in the coming Crusade. You'll need it."

"What if she betrays us? She's a Demon Lord, after all."

"She won't. I would give you proof if I could, but I cannot. All I have is my word, I hope that is enough to assure you. We are running out of time, stay safe Siegfried. And take care of my underling, she is strong, but the past crusades bear heavily on her mind. Until we meet again."

Your eyes snap open. You're back in your room now, just as you were went you went back to sleep after returning from the Archives. Unlike the last time you had a vision, you don't feel anxious. Actually, you feel somewhat at peace. A quick look outside your window shows that it's already getting close to noon, you've slept through breakfast. Lunch will probably be soon, but you have time to do something if you want.

You get changed, grab Galadriel, and head straight for the Knight-Captain's office. Knight-Captain Arnault is busy signing papers when you arrive, but sets them aside when he sees you enter.

"Ah, hello Siegfried. What brings you here?"

"Sir, if it's possible, I'd like to set up a meeting between the Knight-Captains when I get back from the palace."

"Why?"

"It's about the Crusade. There's something important I need to speak with you all about, but I'd prefer to wait until they're here as well to tell you."

"I see. Well, you'll be heading to Belmore after you get back from the palace anyways, I can ask the Grey Watchtower's captain to come here and speak with you. The White Watchtower is farther away though, I'll do my best, but it may take him a while to get here."

"That's fine, thank you sir."

"Any time Siegfried. Lunch starts soon, so why don't you head down to the dining hall early. I didn't see you at breakfast, so I'm sure you're hungry."

"Thank you sir."
>>
>>40673382

You're already waiting at the usual table when your friends start to show up. Daniel and Erika are the first to show up, followed by Justine, Joan, and Nerillian. Ganelon, Roland, and Reinhardt are the last to arrive.

"There you are Siegfried. Erika tells me you wouldn't wake up when she knocked on your door this morning. Are you alright?" Daniel asks.

"Yeah, just slept in. I was up enchanting everyone's weapons last night, so I was pretty tired."

"Ah, I see."

"Shame you were asleep Siegfried, you missed it this morning when Justine got questioned by that fan of yours at the practice yard." Joan mentions, with Berry's help as usual.

"Did she bother you too?"

"Yes. She asked me pretty much the same stuff she asked Erika I guess."

"What did you tell her?"

"I told her we're allies. We've fought together, and that's all. She seemed relieved to hear that, and then she left. You were right, she does talk really fast. It's kind of annoying."

"Isn't it?"

"Now that's no way to talk about your fan. Actually, I think I see her over there, why not invite her over?" Joan teases, before standing up and waving her over.

"Please don't, I-"

"Hello Siegfried!" Avaline says, taking a seat right next to you. "Where were you at breakfast, how come I didn't see you?"

"I was tired Avaline. I'm sorry, but-"

"Oh, Aleria, come sit here." She calls out, cutting off your sentence.

Aleria, now using her new disguise again, takes a seat next to Avaline. She's wearing a belt, the same one you saw Leviathan's belt change to last night.

"Things are changing, Siegfried."

You groan, not because of Avaline's constant chatter, but because of what happened last night. It won't be long until you leave for the palace to be inspected by House Lione, and right after that you have to convince the tower captains to accept a Demon Lord's help.

These next couple of weeks are going to be rough, you hope Zaphiel and whoever that other person was know what they're doing.

Thanks for the thread boss. That pic is great.

We heading to House Lione next thread?
>>
Is there a truth spell, lie detection spell or something like that?

I kinda expect the Liones will give us difficult questions, like "Have you ever consorted with demons? Did you strike a bargain with one?"

I wonder if the angels in our dreams are real, or leviathan's followers too... and whether the belt girl will turn on us if one of the demon lords offers to switch sides. Although presumably we're a better ally than a demon lord loyal to malaphas...

Oh yeah, almost forgot. To the anon asking about enchanting the belt slot, Leviathan's belt works differently than Galadriel's sword. Galadriel's sword was heavily enchanted even before she sealed herself in, and her presence increases the power of said enchantments greatly. Leviathan's belt, however, is just a normal belt, albeit one made from the scales of her old body. She uses the belt as a vessel for her soul, but it's not enchanted, so you can still enchant it. In fact, odds are her presence will increase the strength of said enchantments, similar to how Galadriel's presence strengthens the enchantments that were already placed on her sword.

And of course, there's always the option of getting normal belts and enchanting them if you'd prefer not to use Leviathan's belt or want to swap it out for a different one to fit the situation.

I'll be around for a few hours if anyone has any more questions. If I fall asleep or the thread 404's before I can answer anyone's questions, I check the ask.fm fairly regularly, so send it there and I'll answer when I get the chance.

Can anyone Mind Linked with us using the spell hear Galadriel and Levi as well? Or is that a surprise for when we actually use that spell?
>>
>>40673650
If we can bring our gear and kegs of beer up to Galadriel's cloud, would it be possible to bring Leviathan up there as well? And if so, what form would she take, belt or terrifying demon lord of envy?

And just how awkward would that drinking night be?

>Enchant Leviathan with Holy
>>
>>40673831
Ha, while that would be hilarious, Holy Enchant only works on weapons.
>>
>>40673699
In Leviathan's case, she's actually able to make a temporary mental link with people at will, which is how she was able to hear you and Galadriel talking over your own mental link. So if Mind Link can do that, it'd be a bit redundant.

As for Galadriel, you should test it out and see.

We should ask Leviathan for training methods, albeit those that don't require sacrifices etc.

Need to strengthen our selves and allies.
Ask about reducing the pressure we feel from using magic and ways to reduce it or practicing magic.

Any way, can we train with everyone in Galardriels plane if we use mental link?
>>
>>40676567
That might be tricky. Ganleon would probably spend the entire time being a raging fangirl.
>>
>>40676591
Um Ganleon can hold him self together unlike Avaline.

Also i wonder why Ganleon has such a name (it's the name of a traitor in the legend of Roland), or why he's able to sense angels talking shit from the void.

My guess the grey watchtower was established to kidnap Galardriel back home.
>>
>>40676611
Maybe he sensed the Leviathan.
Maybe he sensed the doppelgangers
Maybe he's a product of human/angel relations and that's why he wears the helmet

But yeah, he's one of the guys who I expect will take strong exception to making deal with Levi. We'll have difficult enough time convincing the captains too, even if Galadriel herself will vouch for us, and she can't do that very well in her sword form.
>>
>>40676644
Maybe he's a converted demon and so on...
Let's leave it for later when Sparks brings it up.

I'm much more interested if we can do some special magic training that allows us to strengthen our soul or mental defenses.

With so many eldritch beings communicating with us, there's got to be some bad effects.

Dream demon lord is Gals older brother.

The other dude is someone we don't know.

Gallie is only rolling with it because she likes Sieg.
