"Jack, seriously, calm down and wait up."
Madeleine tries to keep up with your pace, but it's hard to keep up with an angry sailor when she has no legs.
"No." You reply to her, sourly and bitterly. "The sooner we get outta this hellhole the better."
You are Jack Albator, daring crusader, skilled explorer, and you are really tired.
You've been here, in this village of hostages, for what feels like an eternity. Though, it's only been a few hours at most. You came here initially to try and find all of the missing villages that have been plucked from the countryside.
You have found the village, you found the perpetrators, and you even found that the village connects to the Underworld. Which means things are looking up for you, right?
Confusion is on your mind about some things. One, you haven't really found WHO is the cause of this. Every person you've interrogated so far has pointed fingers at someone else. You don't really understand HOW they did it. So taking everyone away doesn't mean much if a new unseen force takes them back. Plus you don't really understand WHY it was done in the first place, either. The 'why' has been the thing that has been bothering you the most. Why take villagers in the first place to parts unknown?

Madeleine is still following behind you, begging you to calm down.
"Jack, seriously, getting angry won't help."
"Naw, but getting angry might make people start listenin' to me one way or the other."
You're feeling irritated.

"Here." Madeleine takes a jar out of her bag, "Natural sedatives, they'll calm your nerves."

>The only thing I want to calm my nerves right now is alcohol.
>No time, gotta round up the villagers and get them out of here.
>I think fightin' might be a better use of my energy
>Aye, Sure.
>Hold up, alcohol, bar, wasn't there a person in charge here at a bar earlier?
>Ask someone for advice
>Other?

Sweet caught this right on time! How's it going Announcer?

Pretty good, but had some things keeping me busy at work.

>Aye, sure.
>Hold up, alcohol, bar, wasn't there a person in charge here at a bar earlier?
That said, writing!

"Aye, maybe yer right."
"That's the spirit!" Madeleine says, she reaches into the jar and takes out a small, powdery tablet. "Just one will be enough, try it!"

You're not much into remedies, or tonics, or snake-oil. Snake-oil from an actual snake would be a new one. So you're willing to give anything a try once.
You let the pill roll on your tongue, and then swallow it. You don't feel that much different afterward.
As usual, snake oil.

"Aye Lass, not feelin' anything yet."
"Oh give it a few minutes. Think about something else in the meantime."
She folds her hands and looks out toward the village, "Like for one, how are you going to get everyone to follow you out of here?"

>Dunno, any ideas?
>Free beer!
>They'll follow me or else.
>Cause such a huge ruckus that everyone wants to run away.
>Try to spread the word there's a way out.
>Other?

Everyone, it is time for me to drive home. So that means thread is on hold until I get there.

Maybe more people will show up in the meantime. But until then, see you soon!

>inb4 it's a love po- well, pill

Chances are low, but Madeleine has proven to be pretty pushy lately.

>Free beer!

>They'll follow me or else.
or else they're going to end up in a ghost town chained to a post

spreading the word of a way out would probably just cause a riot

We're either the most inept investigators or the culprits set this up well, so it's hard to trace back.

I'd like to think it's the later. Those damn bears!
>>
>Free beer!
Oh man we have to use this one
>>
>>40782607
>Try to spread the word there's a way out.
Maybe ruckus as a backup plan
>>
>>40784823
I thought imbibing anything remotely alcoholic that gets into arm's reach was the default.
>>
>>40784898
It is, but I just imagine Jack running up to everyone like an excited three year old yelling 'Free beer!"
>>
Bringing this back up.
>>
>>40786955
The update schedules on theses threads are bananas.

Oh well.

>>Free beer!
>>Try to spread the word there's a way out.

Use the local watering hole as the soapbox to get the word out.
>>
Guys my internet has been out. I got home and there was no internet.

It JUST came back. Just as I have to go to bed.

Fuck.

Me.

Okay, so, we have two choices. I can cancel today's thread aim to run it again another day.

OR

I can run tomorrow, on Wednesday. By either continuing where we left off or starting a new thread.

Let me know what you think. But for now, I'll get to

>Free beer!
>Try to spread the word there's a way out.
Writing last post of the night!
>>
I'm fine with either. Whatever works best for you.
>>
>>40785020
Jack really hit the jackpot with this world. He's yet to to get slapped by a woman for groping them in public, there seems to be free booze wherever he goes and he's basking in the adulation a hero... all right, that last part needs work.
>>
>>40788395
Tomorrow would be nice, but you can put it off if it makes for a better thread or is just more convenient.
>>
>>40788395
I'd love it if you could keep running late tonight, but don't push yourself. Whatever suits you.
>>
>>40788687
I would love to as well, but I have work tomorrow

>final post almost up.

"I 'unno, free beer is what would get my attention." You laugh.
"Hey! That's a great idea!" Madeleine playfully nudges you. "You're probably not the only one suffering drinking withdrawal."

"So what'd I do then? Just start shoutin' 'Free beer, free beer!' like a giddy schoolchild?"

"Hey!" A guy lifting crates turns his head, "I could use a drink."
"Mind yer ow-"

Your mouth is covered by Madeleine's hand.
"Hey there, can you go tell everyone you know that there's free beer at the mid-town bar?" Madeleine helpfully interjects.

"Really?" The guy sets his crate down. "I was just there, and I didn't hear anything about it."
"Oh, it's a surprise." Madeleine smiles, "Go on, we need a huge group of people there. Get kids and women too."

--

"'Free beer'? Seriously?" A brown-haired princess with pointy ears says in confusion. Very slightly, her mouth is watering.

"This must be a plan Jack made." A girl with no ears crosses her arms with a frown. "I have no idea what we're going to do when all these people realize that there is no bee-"
"Shh!" A very wimpy looking mage-guy keeps her from spilling the beans. "They don't need to know that. Jack will explain it to them when it gets back."

"I'm worried we're attracting the wrong kind of people." A white-haired kid warily scans the crowd. "Some of these people look rough, like guards wearing plainclothes."

A guy in leather, and a girl whose bottom half is a snake try to appease the crowd. The large man from earlier who is running this bar comes in with two big kegs slung under his arm.
"Yeah I get it." The guy wearing a funny hat says with a smile, "You're going to end Jack when you find him."
"That 'Jack' guy, is DEAD when I see him." The big guy grumbles. "Free Beer? Seriously?"

The snake-girl laughs mischievously.
Funny-hat guy nudges her, "Looks like a commotion in the back."

Far in the back, some guards have torn off their plain clothes and drawn their weapons. Apparently, they're slow learners.

Everyone, I am so sorry for what happened. It's just one of those things I can't predict and can't really do anything about until it's too late.

Tell me what you would prefer, new thread tomorrow or maybe a new thread on a day when I might have more time. I'll think about it and post my decision on twitter when I'm at work tomorrow.

Thanks for everyone who stuck around, sorry for how this thread has gone. I don't mean to have cut-off Dog Days threads when it's only running once a week.
>>
>>40788531
Well he's certainly basking the adulation of cute waifus
>>
>>40789391
well thanks for running anyway
