This is Devil May Cry Quest, a quest centered around the life of a young man who lives in rural Pennsylvania. It is set several years after the events of DMC4. You play as Duncan, a 19 year old man who works as Devil Hunter, and lives in an income-based apartment, with a she-wolf demon named Katja, who you mercifully decided to spare granted she would change her sadistic ways. You were raised by catholic nuns for years after your parents left you on the doorstep of the church. None of the nuns know who left you or why you were left behind. After being adopted, you moved from home to home regularly when your foster parents would frequently have some form of tragedy strike them. Your two best friends were guys you went to highschool with, Robbie and Ted. Ted has recently passed during a demon attack. Your greatest motivation in life is hunting Devils.

You live an extraordinary life. There are many odd aspects about you. Stark white hair, and extrme physical strength and reaction speed. A giant sword named Abandon is your primary weapon, along with a Sawn-Off double barrel 12 gauge shotgun and a custom 1911 Colt .45, and a Colt .45 revolver. Not to mention a new set of Devil Arms earned from slaying a Devil named Gregory, who has been your greatest challenge yet.

Votes end after 10 minutes. Write-ins are an option, but stupid suggestions will be ignored at my discretion. Have fun, and try not to get everyone you know killed. Or others, for that matter.

You turn around, and look at the field of corpses in front of you. Your mind goes back to the pain and struggle of the visions that you've had from absorbing demons, and you realize that this will be a massive undertaking. Katja follows behind you as you make your way through the bodies, stepping over bikers and goats alike. In some places there are simply chunks of wet flesh, and sure enough a great number of military personnel are starting to flood the perimeter of the area. You're sure that you'll see the Suit soon enough. When you turn back, Katja is covering herself and looking chilly. "Hey, hold these."

You hand her the two new daggers and take a deep breath. You kneel down and place your hand in a pool of blood, and slowly, the wind picks up around you. The grass of the field sways in a circular motion, and the clouds above you rotate along with them. The demon blood starts to flow into your palm, and the bodies of the dead are pulled by some invisible force through the grass to the epicenter. You stand up fully and grip your wrist as it all flows through you, and three pinpoints of red and white form at the center of your vision and crackle with power. Katja starts to step away from you fearfully, and each time a body is absorbed into you, there's nothing to do but cry out in agony. When the Boss of the bikers is absorbed, it initiates some sort of deformity in you. Just as before, the flesh under your skin starts to bubble and twist, and the sensation of it is Hellish. You cough and gasp in futility, as the tumor-like deformity spreads up your neck and into your head, causing you to fall to the ground and spasm as you feel the pressure and pain overtake your mind.

You shut your eyes tightly in an effort to escape the suffering, but the visions of Hell that you're brought to only make it worse. All of the mountains of bodies and a fiery, black sky surround you. The smoke burns your lungs as you inhale, and the stone floor is white hot, searing your flesh and causing it to melt and stick. You step forward, every inch of your skin in agony. The vision is pointing you towards a stone palace in the distance, and the road in front of you is leading you to a valley. What do you do?

>A. Walk into the Valley towards the palace
>B. Run away and try to look for a way out of this Hell.

You pull your foot up from the stone floor, and your melted flesh rips and leaves your heels bare to the bone. The pain causes you to stumble and fall, the same happening to your hands as you rest them flat against the ground in an effort to save your face. You regenerate quickly enough to stand up, and you continue onward. Heading down into the valley clears the smoke somewhat, making the process more bearable. Your body grows fatigued as you travel, and imp-like demons start to surround you as the crawl out from under rocks. You can do nothing to fight them off as they leap onto your body and begin to tear chunks away and devour them, all of your effort going towards moving forward.

Now that you're at the foot of the valley, you can see colossal black marble statues on either side of you, seemingly depicting angels with hollow chests.

Meanwhile, though you cannot see it, Katja is reeling back in horror, mouth agape. She's staring at your transformed body, a writhing mass of flesh that is warped beyond human recognition. Your eyes, mouth, all of your features slide around cleanly like some sort of eldritch monstrosity. The screeching noise that you're making doesn't help to relax her, either. Slowly but sure, your body returns to it's normal state. There are the sounds of roaring, and the cracking of whips as minutes later, you're once more in the form of a man. You open your eyes, away from the deadly Valley, and completely nude. Your clothes had been ripped when you transformed. You sit up, gasping for clean air, and finding numerous military personnel, Katja, and the Suit all looking at you curiously.

You stand up, and look around at everyone. The field is completely cleared of bodies, and your guns and Abandon are strewn around you, a few feet away. You gather them up and step over to Katja and the Suit as the military resumes their job. You make no effort to cover yourself, too deep in shock to even consider. Katja picks up your torn coat and hands it to you, and when you slip it on, incredibly, all of your clothing begins to form together again from nothingness. It's only a moment later that you're fully decked out in your equipment, and surprisingly, your sunglasses are completely unharmed when you pull them from your pocket. You have to dig through your old torn pants for your cash and keys, though. You turn back, and the Suit smiles at you. "We've sure been seeing a lot of each other, haven't we Duncan?"

You nod, and take the new daggers from Katja. "Yeah. You always seem to show up just after I get done working." He chuckles. "Do you have any idea how much helicopter fuel costs? It's not cheap. Just the cleanup takes a lot of taxpayer dollars. We couldn't help you if you wanted to; taking on demons is best left to the demons. Speaking of which, seeing as she was helping you.." He looks in Katja's direction, glancing up and down at her nude body briefly. She huffs. "I suppose I can let it slide that you've decided to take a souvenir for yourself from that Canada job."

You glance up at him and nod, but when you look down at your hands, you see the three white and red dots are persisting..

You pull Abandon off your back, and look at your reflection in it's blade. The sword is a manifestation of your own power, and as you stare into it, you feel it grow in strength. The bond that you have with the sword deepens, and when you lift it with your hand into the air, it feels completely weightless. Before, it had simply been easy to lift. Now it feels like a literal extension of your own body, and your demonic power channels into it's blade, causing it to glow with a silvery white color. You throw the sword up high, and it spins in a blur before boomeranging back into your grasp. It seems that now you can call the blade back to you if you fill it with power.

Katja and the Suit watch you test out your new ability. She looks frightened, while the Suit looks impressed. He points at Abandon. "Not a bad trick. You're getting pretty good at this stuff, huh kid?" Katja shakes her head. "He's getting too good. Too fast. He's a monster. Didn't you see what just happened to him!?" The Suit nods, and you simply ignore their statements as you gather Ice in your palm. The diamond forms much quicker, and you feel more at ease with constructing it. You crush the diamond in your hand and throw it out to the right, and a shotgun-like blizzard explodes from your hand and turns the grass into solid ice. Neat.

You turn back to them.

>A. What are you guys talking about? Why am I a freak?

You've had your nose to the grindstone since you've started this little business of yours. I'm sure that we'll be in contact soon." You nod, and urge Katja over to you. "Let's get your clothes and get out of here. We've got a really long drive, so I wanna go ahead and go." She whines, frowning.

"Can't we just sleep here for the night? Suit's right, you never wanna slow down." You chuckle and shake your head. "No thanks, last time I was a little late I paid for it. I'm not trying to make it a habit. For all I know there could be some other demon out there needing to get killed. We're leaving." She mopes as you head over to your sword case, and throw her clothes as you pack your things away. You hop on the bike, and feel Katja take a seat behind you, and fire up the machine to roll away from the city.

Days of travel later, and you've pulled back into your home. You sling your guitar case on your back, hand Katja the shotgun, and hold the two daggers in your hand. As you're walking up to your apartment, you nod towards the old man smoking his pipe in a chair, who's staring at you blankly. Katja gives him a cute little wave as well.

You put your key in the door and head in, sighing as you can finally relax for a moment. It's early in the afternoon, and you realize that this is the first moment of freedom that you've had since you left for the job with Katja. You've got enough money to last you a long time. You head to your fridge and grab a beer, leaning on the counter as Katja plops on the couch. You look over in her direction and stare for a moment, earning a response from her. "Enjoying the view?"

You take a swig, and continue staring. "What did you mean when you said I was a freak?" She adjusts her position a bit, telling you that she's not exactly comfortable with the subject. She twirls her hair and looks over at the wall. "A lot of things. You've got a weird ass personality. You're stupidly powerful. And you turned into a monster when you absorbed all of those demons. I've never seen something like it, your body just..lost all control. It was disgusting."

You tilt your drink back, and chuckle. You figure that now is as good a time as any to break the news to her. Or at least try to. As you walk over to the couch and take a seat next to her (prompting her to scoot away to the other side), you think on it. She might not believe that you're the Son of Mundus, but, she did just earn some pretty strong evidence in that direction. You hold out your drink to her, and she shakes her head back and forth, denying it. You look down at it, smiling, feeling a little pompous about what you're getting ready to say to her. "I wasn't around for all that. I was having some crazy vision. I think I was in Hell. Everything sure hurt that way."

She looks over to you curiously. "What was it like?"

You turn the television on to a news program, and lean back. "Didn't see a lot. It hurt. Lots of fire. A stone palace in the distance. Flesh melting off my body. Wouldn't buy a summer home there, to say the least. Sorry for hurting your eyes, next time I turn into a monster I'll conjure a tent up around me. Dontcha think you should give me the same courtesy, though?"

She laughs. "Please, I bet you relish the opportunity to see me nude. I wouldn't want to detract from the only joy in your life aside from bloodshed."

You take a swig of your beer. "You should be honored to have a Son of Mundus look your way, right?"

She stops smiling, and sharply looks in your direction. "What?"

You look back up at her. "You heard me. I've got a pretty strong suspicion that's who my daddy is." She looks you up and down nervously for a second, as if considering it, but then scoffs and turns her head away again once more. "That's impossible. Mundus has been sealed away for over two thousand years. He couldn't have a half-breed son. Beyond that, he despises humans. Why would he ever impregnate one?"

You shrug. "It's just a suspicion, really. But like you said, I'm a freak. Wouldn't it sort of make sense, in a way?" She looks down, and shakes her head. "It's impossible though. Mundus is sealed away. He's waiting to come back to the human world and take it over! He'll kill Dante /and/ you!" She stands up, and angrily marches a few steps away, stomping as she does so. Your coffee table rattles. You lean forward. "Hey, keep it down! We've got other tenants in the building to worry about." She turns back. "I hate you. I hate this place. This is torture." She sighs, and puts her hand to her temple, rubbing it.

A lot of people do care, even if you don't. That makes it effective, therefore people will do it. You don't seem to realize that not everyone is like you.

>>40825096
Well, in this case it sort of does mean something, in that it would result in Duncan being able to contend with the most powerful beings in the world

>>40825102
She's never said she enjoys being with you. She's had moments where she appreciates and is confused by Duncan's kindness, but don't get it wrong, she hates you for all of the the right reasons. She loves demonkind first and you force her to kill demon kind. If you really want to test what she thinks of you then you guys should just let her run amok and see what happens.

She is not your waifu. She is a lying demon who wants to get away from you, but doesn't do so for fear of what you'll do to her.

You stand up, setting your drink down, and walking over to her. "What can I do to make this easier for you? What is it that you want, exactly?" She turns, growling in anger. "I want you to let me go, bastard. I'm tired of this sick game that you're playing with me! Why is it that you think I'll change? That I'll just betray my brothers, as you have!?"

You step back and rub your head, sighing in frustration before looking back. "Is it really so terrible? So I don't let you slaughter people, so what?" She's seething, fists clenched at her sides. "How about I put this in perspective for you. Imagine if an all powerful demon came to your home town, killed everyone you knew and cared for, whisked you away, and forced you to kill humans!" You look at her for a few long moments, thinking on that.

You relax your position slightly, inhaling and exhaling slowly. Those were some heavy words. But even still, it doesn't put her in the right. Not by a long shot. Not even close, Katja. "I hadn't thought of it like that. I'm sorry, but I still can't let you do what you want to people. So I can't let you go, because I don't trust you." She scoffs, trying to step away from you. You reach out and grab her shoulder, spinning her around to face you. She scowls furiously, but you keep a neutral face as you go on. You're not here to hurt her. You're here to talk about the facts. "You begged for your life. You asked me to spare you, and I gave you the conditions. This is the result of the seeds that you've sewn."

She pushes your arm off, and you let it go limp. Really, you could have held onto her with little effort, but you're actually making an effort not to antagonize her more than she already is. You stare her down as she marches over to the fridge and grabs a beer, and in your mind, you feel the tearing conflict of the situation. She was a sadistic murderer, but at the same time, you spared her for her promise to change. Is she just having a difficult time adjusting? It was extremely abrupt. You did kill her entire family. But that doesn't excuse her in the slightest. Who could have guessed that Devil Hunting would be such a moral struggle?

You look on.

It would be easy to just put a bullet in the back of her heard, as she takes a long drink. But it should be her choice. If she's suffering so much, you should give her an out. The only out she deserves. You won't let your sympathies be played.

"You know, your dad didn't beg for mercy. He died like a demon should. Are you really so scared of death that you'd torture yourself like this over it?"

She drops her drink, and turns to you. Her face is turning red quickly, and tears well up at the corners. Her knuckles go white as she clenches them, and growls at you. "Don't talk about my family, you bastard."

Cont.

You walk forward. "He accepted death. He knew that's how it went for your kind. You can't have both, Katja. It might seem unfair, but the fact is, you're wrong!" You walk around the counter, and feel yourself growing furious as you yell. "Humans don't go out, killing helpless demons! If there was ever a demon that was kind, I would leave him alone! You monsters killed for sport! You tortured for fun! You thought it was hilarious to drive that man insane!" You reach out and grab her, picking her up and thrusting her against the refrigerator, shaking it. "I heard you laugh! You laughed at it! All the suffering you've caused, and you act like the world's done you an injustice when it's doubled back and smacked you in the ass!?"

You spin, and toss her down, throwing her against the floor until she slides and hits the counter. "You're wrong! You're dead fucking wrong! This is mercy! Your family earned what happened to them, and the fact that I haven't killed you.." You take a step back, rubbing your face before turning it back and throwing it towards her in a gesture. "That's injustice! That's wrong! You don't deserve sympathy, and the sooner you realize that, the sooner you can stop suffering!"

She's crying fiercely now, a ball on the floor.

You take your beer and walk away, heading into your room and taking a seat on the bedside. You pull out the laptop and head to your website, and start to look it over. You have a lot of damn messages. Most of them seem to be from people calling you a homo or a delusional loser, but every now and then there's a thank you among the sea. This warms your heart a bit, and relieves the heaviness of the day. It's mostly people from the town of the Banshee.

While looking through your messages, you see two requests for a job. One is from the military, and it'd just arrived today. Apparently they want to take you to some island community of pagans, where a disaster has happened. The details of it aren't exactly clear, but you're sure that's for classification purposes. They mention that they'll fly you and Katja to there for free. The other job is from a group called the Devil Hunters, which intrigues you. They claim to be a group of paranormal investigators (what?) who are based in New Jersey, and they need outside help on a particularly difficult Devil that they can't pin down. Which of these jobs do you want to reply to? (Picks how next thread starts)

You can hear Katja quietly sobbing.

For Cerberus, it was all a question of strength. He never outright stated wanting to eat humans, he just seeks to prevent mortals from entering Temen-ni-gru.
Hell, he even gives Dante a warning to leave. That's a lot more leeway the average demon would give to the average human, I'm sure.
Agni and Rudra never made to attack Dante until he told them that he wanted through their door.

You reply to the military job, deciding that it sounded more interesting at the moment. You relax for a few moments listening to music as you await a response, which sure enough is returned soon. They tell you that your flight is in two days, early in the morning. You sort of wonder if it's Suit who's personally messaging you, but you put this thought away as you realize the lack of a 'dad' vibe from them.

You stand up and walk into the main room, slowly. Katja's sobbing continues as you approach, and when you enter, she's sitting up against the wall with red, puffy eyes. She glances in your direction, briefly, before looking back towards the ground when you enter. What do you do?

>Regardless, you have proven your strength. Take my soul and go forth. You have my blessing.
Whether or not his opponent was human, he seemed willing to assist him since Dante proved himself worthy in his eyes.
As for the worm part, Dante did start smack-talking, calling him a talking mutt and all that.
>>
>>40826788
That only happened after he got beaten half to death and Cerberus initiated the smack talk.

I don't think the him getting beaten half to death really invalidates the part where it didn't matter to him whether or not Dante was human.
But at this point, I'm pushing it.
>>
You step over in front of Katja, and kneel down. You fold your hands in front of her and she looks up at you, frowning. "What?" She spits out. You think for a few moments on what to say. "I realize I'm probably the worst person in the world to you, right?" She slowly nods, watching you carefully as if she was suspicious of what you were saying. You chuckle. "I'm not really sure where I was going with that. Look, if I can forgive you for being the terrible sadist that you are, don't you think you could get past me being a traitorous half-breed dick?"

She shakes her head back and forth slowly. "Mmnmm. No. I can't." You sigh, and grab her arms, pulling her up to her feet. She staring you down, though more in apparent confusion than anything else. "You know, why are you so nice to me? Even after everything you just said, and everything I've done, you're still just so nice to me. It doesn't make any sense. Except for the whole throwing me thing.." She rubs her back.

You shrug. "Who knows? Maybe I'm just twisted in the head." She chuckles, wiping at the corners of her eyes. "I was hoping for an answer that was a little less obvious." You smile, and take a swig of your drink. "Even though you were all a bunch of murderous fucks, you cared for your family, didn't you?"

She nods.

You take another drink. "Well, maybe you could come to care about humans too, then. I never thought Devils would be the type to cry over a loved one, or hell, to even have loved ones." She rubs her arm, stepping past you and plopping down on the couch, curling her legs up and resting her head on it before responding weakly. "Yeah. Me too. I've never done that before."

You smile. "Well, hopefully it's the first of many displays of kindness. Maybe next time you can love someone who's a bit less of an insane monster, huh?" She scoffs. "I don't know anyone like that." You saunter over, and take a seat on the couch, watching the television in peace.

That's all for tonight. Cont.

You'll be able to talk to Robbie next thread, which is Saturday or Sunday at 7 as usual. Sorry if anyone was expecting combat or cuhrayzee this thread, but it was a bit of a break from things.

There'll be a day for shopping and social shit before the flight, so we can do those things then. As always I'll be sticking around for questions. Hope you had fun.

This just kills my crazy boner.

I can't even muster up enough effort to properly spell it.
>>
>>40826975
didn't you say you would have a twitter up or something
>>
So when are we getting a real babe?

White haired half demon girl would be nice.
>>
>>40827044
I'm still not convinced that Katja is sucking the crazy from these threads to grow more powerful.
>>
>>40827061
Never ever.
>>
>>40827021
Sure, sunday it is, if nothing comes up. If something does it'll be Monday.

>>40827044
Don't worry anon, only a small part of the thread will be for that. Then it's off to pagan cunt island.

>>40827047
uh
fuck
I did say that. I forgot. Sorry everyone. Soon, I promise.

>>40827061
there are a few waifu options in quest, but none of them will be obvious

expect plenty of false leads
>>
>>40827085
I'm sure this investment will pay off in the form of increased future cuhrayzee. Can't give up on the dream of riding a giant wolf demon into battle.
>>
How often will we be able to have social threads?

It's all well and good to kill things but taking a break every once in a while leads to some interesting results.

No captcha a starfish is not slad.
>>
>>40827085
I just find it a chore. The waifushit is too real. It'll bog things down, and, as a character I do not like her, I feel like we -should- have killed her, but a buncha whiteknights and waifufags decided "Nope, dis muh gurl nao".

It shouldn't have even been a question of killing her, but it was.

And now instead of going out and doing awesome shit, we have to deal with her bullshit.

I wouldn't mind but her stupid shit comes up all the fucking time.

>>40827116
You are pretty truthful to the lore and you wrote lady well.

Is Lady and Dante fugging in this world?

My head canon says yes.
>>
>>40827144
mostly inbetween series of missions/arcs/whenever I feel it's time for a break. So, every now and then.

>>40827168
thanks, anon

yes I ship Lady x Dante, but it won't ever be obvious or even really noted in quest

I'd appreciate it if you got one dude. I just picked up DMC4 and zoned out missed the whole damn thread.

>>40829046
Why would you appreciate him getting a dude?

I meant I'd appreciate him getting a twitter. I was referring to him as dude.

So, what you mean to say is "I'd appreciate it if you got one, dude."?

Bragging like this is like bragging about a rich dad.
>>
>>40833887
People do brag about their rich dads, first of all.

Second, it's not quite like it, since they power we inherited is part of us, and is tied directly to our capabilities. Sure we didn't do anything to earn it, but it's still a part of who we are, and the reason why we're so strong.
>>
>>40835663
>tfw Mini said Duncan didn't care about who his father was beyond "this is my dad, so that's a thing" but people are playing it up as Duncan being proud of his heritage

Niggas pls.
>>
>>40838484
No, I'm saying Katja was wondering why we were such a freak, and this is how we told her. Even if Duncan doesn't care, Katja does, and despite you having a say in his actions Duncan is smart enough to realize that.
>>
>>40838682
>implying I'm stupid

Pls.

I have no problem with Duncan saying who his father is, but with how the anons act, they seem to think Duncan loves daddy-dearest like he was an actual father to them.

I have a problem with them, and you defending them does nothing for my opinion of you.
>>
>>40838770
>they seem to think Duncan loves daddy-dearest like he was an actual father to them.
lol what? you making ridiculous claims like this doesn't do much for my opinion of you either. If you're referring to >>40826679
it was pretty obviously a joke.
>>
>>40838826
No, people will not shut up about Mudnus, if an applicable answer is to say "Yo, my dad was a bad dude, maybe you heard of him" sure, fucking go for it, but they seem to want to spout it for no reason at unprompted times, and at other times when it serves no purpose.

It'll just get worse, just wait.
>>
>>40838886
You realize it was never mentioned once, and that people were probably just looking to throw it out there at least once? Seriously, it got said once. You're having a heart attack over nothing.
>>
>>40838886
Now, you say this, but we were prompted. Prompts extend beyond the question of "Who was your dad?" Katja wondered why we were so powerful, the answer was we're Mundus' son. You seem to think that because we answered her question we'll be including it as part of our introduction in the future, and honestly to me it just looks like you're salty because you voted against it and it happened anyway.
>>
>>40839161
If you think I meant this thread alone, you are sorely mistaken.

Additionally, the way you throw insults, and blow my reactions out of proportion does nothing for your case.

Buh-bye now.
