Welcome back to Mortal Kombat Konquest (Yes, a Quest), an adventure that will span the realms and incorporates many aspects of Mortal Kombat canon, from the games to the films to the comics and more. We are currently set during the events of Mortal Kombat II.

Sorry for not making a thread last week; things came up and I just didn't have the time.

When we last left our hero, Akayama Kaito, he made a difficult choice. He left Outworld in the midst of the second Mortal Kombat tournament, giving up his chance to kill Shang Tsung, whom he had at his mercy. He did this to travel with Smoke to Earthrealm, specifically the Lin Kuei temples in China, in order to try to rescue Sub-Zero from the Cyber Initiative. Storming the temples, they managed to save him before he could be forever changed, at which point Kaito brought the entire temple cracking down around them with his power. Though Sub-Zero was partially augmented, he is still himself.

Sub-Zero vowed to rebuild the Lin Kuei after saving Earthrealm, and so he, Smoke and Kaito have travelled back to Outworld through the use of a secret Lin Kuei portal located in the mountains. Once more finding themselves in the wastelands, they plan their next move.

"The tournament cannot be far from completion," Sub-Zero surmises. "When I was captured, there were not many warriors left."

"Turana is there as well," Kaito adds.

"Perhaps we will not make it there in time," Smoke says. "In which case, we should do everything we can to hinder the Emperor. Kano was selling him black market weapons from Earth; I bet they're coming in by boat. We should search the coast."

Sub-Zero considers this. "The mountains in the northwest are rumored to hold a temple the houses a portion of the Emperor's power, perhaps in some kind of artifact. We could steal it."

They both look at Kaito.

"There is something else," Kaito says, taking out the map he took from the last ship he was on. "There is a place here in Outworld called the "Ice Caves." Do you know anything about it, Sub-Zero?"

The blue-clad warrior takes the map and inspects in. "No... But some of these marking around it are familiar to me."

"Do you think it may have something to do with your powers?" Smoke asks.

Sub-Zero thinks for a moment, but then rolls the map back up. "I will have to investigate this further, but for now, we should focus on the Emperor and the threat he represents."

He hands the map back to Kaito.

Kaito takes the map. "Either way, I think we should head to the coast and look for the Black Dragon, maybe they have a camp or a ship bringing in their weapons. The invasion won't be getting too far without those guns."

Smoke nods in agreement. Sub-Zero concedes, "Alright, but we're heading to the fortress afterwards."

The three of them travel northeast, around the Living Forest, eventually hitting the coastline and moving north.

In the distance, they spy the fires of a great camp and begin to sneak. Spying on it from atop a rock nearby, they see the camp is full of tarkatans.

Kaito recognizes Baraka among them, leading them and giving orders, barking something in his guttural native language. It seems like they have prisoners in cages and are currently enjoying a feast of roast human; the smell is sickening.

Nearby, a dock with a large boat at the end sits still. Kano is there, with other members of the Black Dragon, directing them to offload crates of guns, explosives and other weapons of war. They hand these off to the tarkatans.

"We need to destroy those crates," Smoke says, "and sink that ship."

"Not going to be easy with Kano and Baraka and both of their minions in our way," Kaito says.

Sub-Zero volunteers to attack the ship, and tells Smoke to cover him by fighting off Baraka. He tells Kaito to destroy the crates with his lightning.

Kaito nods at Sub-Zero's plan.

"On my mark," he says. "Three, two, one..."

Both Sub-Zero and Smoke leap out in a coordinated attack; the grey-clad warrior vanishes into vapor and reforms behind Baraka, attacking the tarkatan leader. Sub-Zero creates a bridge of ice leading to the ship and lands on its deck and begins fighting the Black Dragon, throwing one overboard.

The tarkatans all howl and prepare for battle!

Kaito jumps atop the rock and scans for the crates, finding a pile of them not far away. He charges up his energy and prepares to unleash it all.

Kaito blasts a single shot at the crates, attempting to ignite something. He sets the crates on fire, which seems like a good start.

Several of the tarkatans run at him, and he uses the rest of his charged-up energy to chain lightning them into submission. They fall to the ground, smoking, as Kaito leaps into the camp.

Not far away, Smoke battles Baraka. The tarkatan leader has both of his arm blades drawn and attacks the wispy ninja, but to no avail. Each of his strikes are met with Smoke turning into mist and slipping away.

Sub-Zero fights Kano on the dock. The Black Dragon's leader blasts him with an eye-beam, knocking him out of the air, then charges and pulls out his knives. Sub-Zero freezes the ground, causing him to slip and fall on his back.

Kaito scans around the camp, looking for more crates. He sees several human prisoners in cages, and another pile of wooden boxes, one of them marked "grenades".

Two tarkatans charge at him from behind!

Kaito runs towards the grenades, a plan forming in his mind. He leads the two tarkatans towards the crates and attempts to teleport behind them, but before he can, one of them manages to score a cut across his back, drawing his blood.

Kaito becomes as a bolt of lightning and flashes behind them before unleashing his power, blasting both from behind into the pile of crates. That alone would have been enough, but the explosion that results sends both to the Netherrealm, along with blasting a fair portion of the camp. Kaito is knocked backwards and lands near the fireplace where they are cooking their human captive.

Before he can get up, a tarkatan leaps upon him and tries to bite his neck. He reaches up and grabs the mutant by the neck, holding him at bay.

Kaito looks at the tarkatan, attempting to discern if it is his old ally, Tortek. However, it is not, as Tortek has a ring through his nostrils. Kaito charges his power and fries the tarkatan, causing him to twitch and his jaw to bite uncontrollably.

Kaito rolls the burnt tarkatan off of him and looks around. There's only one pile of crates left.

He gets up and starts running towards it when he is blasted from behind by a tarkatan blade-spark.

He turns around and sees a large, ugly (by the standards of their species, mind you) tarkatan approaching. His face oddly resembles a pig's, with similar ears and a nose to match. The bulky tarkatan roars at him, flinging spittle his way.

"Damn Pigface, do you lift or something?" Kaito jokes.

The brawny tarkatan charges at him and attacks!

Pigface runs in and slashes at Kaito, who rolls to the side. As the large tarkatan moves in again, he tries instead to trip him, but the mutant grabs Kaito and hoists him high overhead before throwing him away.

Kaito falls atop two tarkatans, incidentally pushing them into the fire. They burn and scream as Kaito gets up to his feet and dusts himself off.

Pigface rubs his blades together slowly, in anticipation of them tasting Kaito's flesh.

"DIE!" he roars, quickly slashing them against each other and creating a spark that hurls in Kaito's direction.

At that, the tarkatan flies into a rage unlike any Kaito has ever seen. He charges at the human, swinging his blades harder and faster than usual, creating a whirlwind of chopping, cutting, slicing death that Kaito has to avoid.

Out of the corner of his eye, Kaito realizes that he is backing up towards the last pile of crates as Pigface engages in his relentless, blind fury.

Kaito prepares to teleport away when Pigface suddenly lurches forward, stabbing Kaito through the shoulder! He impales the human against the crate, his own blade sticking through the shoulder and into the wood. Kaito roars in pain and grabs at the blade.

"Now... now, you DIE!" Pigface screams.

Kaito watches as he raises his blade high up, preparing to cut his head off.

>SLICE!

Pigface falls back, his arm that had impaled Kaito severed at the elbow. Kaito opens his eyes and sees this, and he also sees a savagely beaten tarkatan standing between them with a chained collar around his neck like a dog and one arm-blade dripping in tarkatan blood.

"Stay... away... from my FRIEND!" Tortek shouts, falling upon Pigface and fighting the one-armed mutant for dominance.

Kaito can hardly believe his eyes, but the arm and the blade impaling him is still very much a problem that needs to be dealt with.

Pigface wails in pain and falls onto his back, allowing Tortek to get back up.

"Nice move," Kaito remarks.

"Learned from you," Tortek grins with his large teeth.

Tortek grabs the arm and plants a foot on Kaito's chest, pulling it out in one painfully swift motion. Kaito grabs it; Pigface lies on the ground nearby, practically asking to be impaled by it.

Kaito takes the arm out and uses it to cut off Tortek's chain. "We're getting you out of here, buddy," he says to his ally.

Nearby, Smoke subdues Baraka, who calls for retreat. The tarkatans and their leader run for the wastelands to the southwest.

Smoke and Kaito walk up on the dock behind Kano. Sub-Zero uses a clever maneuver to freeze the feet of the cockney/Australian/whatever he actually is to the dock floor.

With a simple jolt from Kaito, Kano is stunned and Smoke knocks him out with a chop to the neck.

"What do we do with him?" the grey ninja asks.

"Dispose of him," Sub-Zero suggests, moving to throw him into the shark-infested waters.

"Woah, he could be valuable," Kaito says. "He's wanted by Earthrealm Special Forces."

Sub-Zero spies some rope on the dock and tosses it to Smoke. "Alright. The tarkatans are gone and the weapons are destroyed."

"There's still one pile left, and some prisoners," Kaito tells him.

"Destroy them and free the prisoners," Sub-Zero orders.

Kaito offers an alternative. "What if we give the weapons to the people? Outworld's citizens could use an edge against the Emperor's armies."

"Just give me some time with the prisoners. I have an idea for them."

Sub-Zero looks at the setting sun. "Thirty minutes, Kaito. Then we move."

Kaito goes and frees the prisoners. In the short time he has, he explains the weapons and how they work, instructing them very carefully on what not to do to blow themselves up, especially with grenades and other explosives. After teaching them how to set landmines and what the guns are, Smoke, Sub-Zero and Tortek wait for him at the edge of the camp, with Smoke hoisting a tied-up Kano over a shoulder. Kaito tells them of Yanake and her city in the southwest and gives them his map. The survivors take the Black Dragon's boat and sail away.

Kaito joins his allies and they begin travelling north.

About an hour later, they are outside the city-fortress. At its heart, the final battles of the tournament are being waged.

Kaito prompts the outworlder to tell the beasts to attack the guards. The man gets very nervous, but as Kaito's eyes spark with lightning, he does as he is told.

The beasts, so long denied their baser instincts, hear the guards approaching and roar, charging at them blindly. They smash into walls and market stalls, searching for anything they can unleash their pent-up fury on. The guards shift their focus on trying to contain the beasts, who fight back, one of them picking up a guard and smashing his head against a wall.

People in the market begin to run. Kaito can't help but smile. He thanks the translator and walks away.

Kaito searches for a large cart with many crates on it. Using his lightning, he blasts one of its wheels and then the other before tipping it over onto its side. He blasts open boxes and shouts to everyone in the market that it's all free.

Sure enough, a surge of people rush forward to grab what they can, some even fighting amongst themselves to get ahold of it all. Kaito slips away and heads for the fortress, picking up Tortek along the way, leaving the market in chaos behind him and the guards running by pay him no heed.

One in the courtyard, Kaito begins to remember the layout of this place. But where to go?

The armory is hot and dark. Pools of molten metal are drawn into cauldrons and used to forge weapons and armor. Here, strange workers native to outworld toil away, hammering on anvils and never ceasing their work.

Weapons line the walls: swords, axes, spears and more. Shao Kahn is a conquerer, and his armies need lots of weapons; this must be only one of many such forges that supply his war efforts. There is a large central floor here with a dragon symbol carved into the floor, forming a makeshift arena.

Tortek admires one of the axes on the wall as Kaito looks around at the armor and siege weaponry being produced.

There's gotta be some light armor and some kind of gauntlets around here somewhere, right?
>>
>>40870409
>>40870440
>>40870453

Kaito examines the weaponry. He's not a big fan of swords or axes, but there are a few very nice spiked gauntlets here.

He takes them off a suit of armor and examines them. They are made of steel with padding on the inside; anyone who gets hit by these or punches into a block is going to regret it. The only downside is how heavy they are; while the weight would make for some devastating attacks, perhaps he should value speed and mobility over power.

There is also a set of light armor here. He doesn't take too much, enough to protect his chest, back, legs and groin (a lesson that Shang Tsung would do well to learn himself) and some nice new boots. There's a helmet here as well that he slides over his head and secures in place.

Kaito decides that the power and brutality of the gauntlets will compliment his style nicely. Now, to sabotage this armory, but how?

He looks up and sees a dragon's mouth from which pours molten metal into the large vat. If he could find the source of the metal and destroy or block it, that would go a long way.

As he inspects the area, a set of doors at the end open and in strides Reiko and two of his personal guards, apparently doing an inspection of the weapons and armor, when he notices you wearing stolen gear.

"The sentence for theft from the Emperor's armory is immediate death," he says, walking forward. His two guards stand back, one of them moving to block the exit they came from and the other moving the block the exit you entered from.

Reiko looks you up and down. "A puny Earthrealm whelp thinks he can just stride into the Emperor's fortress and do as he pleases?"

"Yeah, pretty much, you guys don't have very good security," Kaito says with a grin.

"You will not be making jokes when I grind your skull against my hammer," he says, holding out a hand. A blue flash of light takes the form of a solid metal and stone hammer that he holds in front of him.

"Have you any final words, weakling?"

"Yeah, and he had stupid face tattoos too. You can probably still see them, if you like: his head is on the end of a pike."

Reiko shouts in rage and charges, holding his hammer high!

Kaito punches him in the stomach, but this doesn't stop the hammer's fall. He moves his head aside and managed to just avoid it, then claps his hands together and blinds Reiko with a thunderflash!

Kaito brings up a leg and kicks Reiko off, separating him from his hammer. The Earthrealm warrior gets up and rolls backwards, grabbing the weapon, before tossing it into the molten metal.

"What now, flat top?" Kaito asks with a smile.

Reiko straightens and shakes his head, clearing his vision. He grits his teeth and spits out some blood. "A true tactician always has a backup strategy."

Reiko is surprisingly skilled and quick with this giant sword and his hacking sends him on the defensive. He hacks away at Kaito's gauntlets as Kaito attempts to duck and move with the motion of the blade, but he can't get in to land an attack of his own. Reiko brings the sword down low and then swipes upwards, slicing Kaito up the chest.

The wound isn't deep, but it draws blood and will surely leave a nasty scar.

"That's going to look really cool later on," Kaito mutters.

"Not when you are dead. I will do as you did to Gozen, and mount your head on a spike! And then I will personally lead an invasion on your allies in the southwest! I WILL IMPALE ALL OF THEIR HEADS ON SPIKES! AAAARRRRRRGGGHH!!!"

Kaito is forced against a wall as Reiko swings the sword. Tortek stands off to the side, unsure. He knows this is a one-on-one fight, but wants to jump in. If he does, Reiko's guards can as well, which keeps him back.

Kaito holds up both arms and blocks the sword coming down and is locked in place, pushing against the heavy sword and the strength of Reiko.

"Yield!" Reiko says through gritted teeth. "YIELD!"

Kaito's knee begins to buckle.

Kaito pushes up against the blade as hard as he can, but Reiko is strong and the blade is heavy. In a desperate action, Kaito falls back on his number one strategy: he brings up his knee and slams Reiko in the crotch.

It does nothing, because Reiko wears armor.

"I've made a mistake," Kaito says after a moment of awkward silence.

"Yes, you have."

Kaito charges up and shocks Reiko through the blade, using it as a conduit! Reiko jolts backwards and Kaito kicks him in the chest. Kaito blasts him with a bolt of lightning.

Kaito runs from the war room, taking Tortek with him, charging down a staircase and into Shao Kahn's dungeons. Here, prisoners lament and languish, awaiting execution in the arena or death from inattention.

Kaito looks at the scar on his chest, cut through his new armored chestpiece. "Just got this thing, too," he grumbles, flinching a bit as he uses his electrical power to singe the wound the stop the bleeding.

Tortek looks around. "This place very bad..." he says.

Kaito looks in the cells and sees a starved man dying. Others nearby are similar. He doesn't see anyone he knows, but the dungeon is large.

Kaito uncrosses his arms. "I will free you, but I don't care about wealth. You're a mercenary, so I'm not going to do it out of the goodness of my heart, either."

"Name your price."

"Help me find my friends. One, a sphinx, named Turana; the other, an assassin from the Brotherhood of Shadow. Her name is Sareena."

"You keep odd company."

"Yeah, I know. Have you seen them?"

"I have not spied a sphinx. There was a female assassin with the mark of the Brotherhood of Shadow on her clothing, with a white streak in her hair."

"That's her!"

"She was a prisoner here before she was taken to the arena. I do not know her fate."

Kaito thinks for a moment. "I was hoping Kitana and Turana would have been able to rescue her... Maybe they have."

Dairou stands up. "Free me, and we will search for them together."

"Alright. Stand back."

Kaito raises his arms and charges up his electricity, unleashing a blast upon the metal bars, sending sparks flying and resulting in a great flash of light. Kaito focuses on the lock, concentrating on blasting it and melting it.

When he is done, he grabs the bars of the door and pulls, and sure enough, it opens, the molten lock quickly cooling.

Dairou steps out and nods. "You do fine work. You are quite powerful."

"I get by," Kaito shrugs. "Really, you should see what I can do to a sorcerer's nutsack."

Before Dairou can respond, there is a commotion from further down in the dungeon. A group of guards are beginning to mobilize, having heard the noise of Kaito's lightning.

Kaito looks around at the other prisoners, but none of them apart from Dairou appear to be combat capable. They are all native outworlders who have been suffering for some time here.

Five men come around the corner, carrying swords and wearing armor. Their leader is the largest, a great burly man with a massive two-handed axe, wearing leather and spiked armor.

"With all the commotion in the arena, I was worried I would not get a chance to execute anyone today," the jailor says, hefting up his axe. "You don't know how happy you've made me."

"Wanna bet I can turn that around?" Kaito says, getting into a combat stance.

Kaito looks at the executioner and holds up his axe, tossing it back to him.

"Wouldn't be a fair fight otherwise," Kaito mocks, fully confident in their odds.

>>40895420

Kaito attempts to dodge the attack and counter it, but is hit by the wood of the axe (and thankfully not the blade), but is still sent sprawling backwards.

Tortek scrambles out of the way as the executioner spins towards Dairou, who stands in place. Kaito watches, thinking the man must either have a plan or a death wish.

Dairou suddenly stands up straight and places his hands across his chest, falling backwards, slamming his back against the ground. This causes a small quake-like effect, kicking up dust and sending small stones flying back away from the force of his back hitting the floor.

The power generated causes the executioner to fly upwards, spinning in the air but now having lost all cohesion and control. As he falls, Dairou springs back up, almost like he treated the solid floor like a trampoline or a springboard.

He backflip-kicks the executioner as he falls down, sending him flying towards Kaito, who blasts him with electricity mid-air. He hits the nearby wall and does not get back up.

"I think we're done here," Dairou suggests.

"Yeah... Nice move, by the way. How'd you do that?"

"You have your tricks, and I have my own," Dairou replies.

Kaito picks up the axe and together with Dairou and Tortek, they head to the arena. With fortune, Smoke and Sub-Zero are still there, and hopefully so are the other Earthrealm warriors.

They arrive to find the arena mostly silent, with all of the crowd filtering out. The great stone throne of Shao Kahn is empty, and dead bodies of Kahn's guards and monster-beasts are strewn about.

In the center of the stone ring that forms the arena, the warriors of Earthrealm confer with one another.

Kaito looks around as he approaches. "Did I miss everything? What the hell happened?"

Smoke, Sub-Zero, Jax and Johnny Cage turn around. Johnny looks surprised; he even takes off his sunglasses. "Hey! I remember you! From the first tournament! What happened to you, pal? We looked all over!"

"But not all over Outworld, and I was a continent away," Kaito replies. "Nice to see you though, Johnny."

Liu Kang and his other Shaolin Monk friend, Kung Lao, turn to look at the three of them. "You still have that THING with you?" Kung Lao asks distastefully, looking at Tortek.

Tortek snarls and Kaito holds up a hand. "Hey, he's with me. Can I get an update on the present situation, please?"

The group parts to reveal Raiden, the god of thunder and lightning. "We have little time. The tournament is not yet ended, and our enemies have come up with a new plan to absorb Earthrealm into Outworld."

Johnny slams his hands together. "We had just beaten all of Kahn's cronies when the Emperor realized he was outmatched."

Jax, visibly angry, says, "They had already captured Sonya when they ambushed me and her in the Living Forest. But now..." He turns to Raiden. "They can't! They can't, unless she consents, right? Come on, thunder god, tell me they can't!"

"Can't what? Consent to what?" Kaito asks.

Raiden crosses his arms. "I'm afraid that Shao Kahn intends to make Sonya Blade his bride, which will weaken the dimensional barriers and allow the merging of the realms."

Kaito is silent for a moment. "Bullshit!" he says. "I was told that only through Mortal Kombat is the merging of realms possible! You're telling me that Kahn could just pick up some slut off the street, wed her, and invade Earthrealm?!"

"It's not that simple. The Elder Gods would allow this union because she is a participant in the Mortal Kombat tournament, and a warrior of great power. Through marriage, Shao Kahn can end the tournament and claim Earthrealm as her dowry."

"I can't fucking believe what I'm hearing," Kaito says.

"That makes all of us," Johnny replies.

"Sonya will never say yes to that roided-out Mongol-looking freakshow!" Jax insists.

"Not as herself, no," Raiden nods. "But they have magic and dark sorcerery on their side. They can manipulate her into saying yes, and it will be a lawful union before the Elder Gods."

"Does anyone else think the Elder Gods are bullshit?" Kaito asks.

"You watch your tongue!" Liu Kang says. "The Elder Gods would not allow it without some kind of way to stop it!"

"An objection," Raiden says, "one that is valid. That is why we must travel to Quan Chi's fortress here in Outworld, where the ceremony is being held."

"Quan Chi... What's he got to do with this?"

"As an ordained priest of the Brotherhood of Shadow by Shinnok himself, Quan Chi has the power to preside over this wedding."

"Oh, right, of course, how stupid of me," Kaito shakes his head. "Wait... What happened to Kitana, Turana and Sareena? And Kano, for that matter?" Kaito asks, looking at Smoke and Sub-Zero.

"Kitana has been captured," Liu Kang says distastefully.

"And Shang Tsung used his magic to take Kano away from me," Smoke explains.

"And interdimensional marriage law dictates that the bride must be given away by someone from her native realm. They took Kano in order to have him give her away to Shao Kahn."

"But they're enemies! She hates nobody more than him!" Kaito says, nearly on the verge of a migraine from the logic of this wedding.

Raiden looks to the sky, his white eyes crackling with his power. "I can transport us to the lands surrounding Quan Chi's fortress, for my power is almost drained. Unless..."

He looks at Kaito. "What?" the Earthrealmer asks.

"You and I share similar powers. If you lend me a fraction of your energy, perhaps half, I may be able to take us directly to where the wedding is to be held."

Everyone looks at Kaito. "Can you give him a boost?" Johnny asks.

Kung Lao cups his chin. "We may need his power in the fight to come. If Raiden can get us near the fortress, we can walk the rest of the way there."

"And lose time!" Jax says. "C'mon, kid, Sonya's life is on the line!"

"More than that," Liu Kang reminds the Special Forces Major. "All of Earthrealm and our allies."

"We must act quickly," Raiden says. "The wedding commences at nightfall, in just an hour, in accordance with Outworld tradition."

I'd kinda like to know how Sonya gets kidnapped TWICE in the same day. We weren't there for the transition from end of the movie to beginning of MK2, so did they just fail to save her and Shang got away, or did they rescue her, go to the Wu Shi Academy, and Shang grabbed her a second fuckin' time?
>>
>>40896602

Sonya isn't very good at her job, apparently.
>>
>>40896621
I hate to be "that guy" who whines about damsels in distress and shit but the funny thing is she wasn't even "kidnapped" in the original canon. Shang made his fuckin' magic island collapse into Outworld when Liu beat him and Sonya and Kano were the only ones who didn't escape. They got found by the Shokan and arrested for trespassing.
>>
>>40896699
I like this version better. It's somehow much stranger, more hilarious and then I can completely believe that in context it's something Shao Khan would try.
Or we accidentally took a shit ton of Outworld LSD somehow.

I give it 50/50.

Kaito looks at Johnny Cage. "Hey Johnny, what was the first thing you ever said to me when we first met?"

Johnny thinks hard. "Oh!" he suddenly remembers, "This guy," he points at Liu, "threw my luggage in the water, and I paid you to get it out for me! Why?"

Kaito sighs. "Just checking to make sure all of you are who you say you are and this isn't some big damn illusion."

>>40896602

Kaito looks at Jax. "Didn't Shang Tsung nab Sonya at the end of the first tournament too?"

"Yeah..." Jax says, waiting for a point.

"Just strange how she got kidnapped twice, is all."

"We were ambushed and outnumbered!" Jax says. "We didn't have any backup out here. I barely got away with my arms attached to my sockets!"

"Enough!" Liu Kang interrupted the questions and answers. "We need to get to that fortress and stop that wedding!"

Well, the mind controlled Sonya wedding thing is taken straight from the Malibu comics run. If you've never seen those, they're the epitome of the Liefeldian 90's. Seriously, Goro weilding giant guns like Cable, there's a guy in the tournament who despite having SIX arms is just a jobber...there's some kind of cyborg with pieces and powers cloned from different fighters and a cyclops laser-eye...it got weird. Oh, and the only word Smoke ever spoke was "toasty"...

'Course, the wedding logic is not that far off from the actual canon explanation for how rezzing Sindel allows Kahn to invade in 3...

Yeah, I liked him as Liu Kang too.
Also, I'm fairly sure if Kaito was serious all the time he'd be dead by now. Sometimes you just have to go the Cage path.
>>
>>40898116
Shou was good, but it always kinda bugged me he didn't imitate Lee at all.

And the movie lacked the whole added dimension of "Fuck your deathmatch rules Shang, I'm a monk, I don't kill people" thing from the first MK1 leading into some "it's my fault, if I'd killed Shang, he wouldn't have come back and killed all the monks" guilt in 2...

Granted one can hardly be blamed for not being aware Tobias deliberately put something so subtle as "his fatality is the lamest in the game and the screen doesn't even go dark because it's nonlethal on purpose" into the game.

Kaito nods, stepping past Johnny and Smoke and approaching Raiden. He places his hand on Raiden and focuses on charging up his power and channeling it into the thunder god. Normally this would be quite damaging to someone, but Raiden absorbs it.

Kaito continues until he feels roughly half of his power has been drained. He saves some of it for the fight.

Raiden opens his white eyes and speaks. "I will take us as far as I can, but I will be drained afterwards. The battle will be up to you."

"Let's crash a wedding," Johnny says with a smile.

Smoke, Sub-Zero, Jax, Johnny, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kaito, Dairou and Tortek are all temporarily blinded by a flash of light as Raiden teleports them away and across Outworld.

Everyone is brought to the end of a great bridge held up by many towers, leading to a dark fortress. Raiden, drained of his power, imparts one final message before he vanishes back to Earthrealm. "May you all find the strength to save our realm. Good luck. I will be watching."

He teleports away in a flash of light, leaving them all behind. They begin running down the bridge when they are halted by advancing guards, shadow priests and shokan warriors.

"Looks like they're not going to let us in for the reception," Johnny cracks.

"Not now, move star! Shut up and fight!" Jax says, barreling into the oncoming foes, picking one up and throwing him off of the bridge.

Kaito, though only possessed of half of his energy, prepares to help clear the way forward.

Kaito charges in alongside Johnny Cage, who surges forward with a green trail following behind him as he shadow kicks a shokan in the chest. At the same time, Sub-Zero freezes the ground at the four-armed monster's feet, causing it to slip and fall. Kaito follows up with an electrified punch to the shokan's face, knocking it out cold and breaking his nose.

A shadow priest floats high up and casts a fireball. Smoke appears from a fog behind him and knocks him out of the air with a spinning kick, allowing Jax to catch the falling priest and repeatedly punch him in the face.

One of the guards attacks Kaito, who blocks it with the axe. He tries to slice at the guard with the weapon, but the guard leaps back. Tortek jumps over Kaito's back and impales the guard on both ends of his blade.

Nearby, Dairou, Kung Lao and Liu Kang take on the remaining guards and shadow priests.

Kaito moves to advance, but suddenly finds his path blocked by three guards who move in to attack.

Kaito looks and sees a shadow priest about to cast a spell. He charges at him and brings the axe down on his head; or rather, would have, had the shadow priest not teleported behind him in a cloud of purple smoke. There, thry find Goro, Sheeva and a shokan Kaito does not know; a tiger-striped brute with feline features.

Behind them are several elite shokan guards.

"Insolent worm! How dare you!"

She raises all four of her arms and brings them down on Kaito, who blocks it with the axe's handle. She pushes down, grabbing it as they struggle.

"All four hands on the shaft, nice," Kaito says with a grin.

Sheeva scowls and keeps trying to pull the axe out of his hands as the battle wages around them.

"I know this isn't the best time, but do you have a number? Maybe a four-hands-free phone?"

She brings up a knee and smashes him in the stomach with it. She wrenches the axe out of his grasp and sneers down at him.

Kaito manages an apology to Sheeva, who does not respond. He runs over to join the fight against Goro, helping to distract the large beast until Jax can bring both fists down on his head, knocking the shokan prince out cold.

The other Earthrealm defenders make their way up and you all travel to the large stone doors and push them open. Quan Chi's fortress is dark and Gothic, with large pillars, ornate and grim statues, and great stone platforms and walkways that are surrounded on all sides by a massive pit that leads into darkness. There are no windows and the only light comes from torches or magical blue orbs that hang from the ceiling.

"This guy could use an interior decorator," Kaito mutters. He and the others approach a large archway heading towards a cathedral-like room. A voice can be heard, alongside low chanting.

"Sounds like the ceremony is underway," Johnny says. "Let's go crash it!"

Kaito and his allies charge into the cathedral and lay their eyes upon the wedding in progress.

Quan Chi stands behind an obsidian podium wearing ceremonial vestments. Before the podium is Sonya Blade, wearing a wedding gown and holding flowers, her blonde hair pulled behind the veil and her face dull and blank. Alongside her is Kano, who is obviously enjoying every moment of this forced matrimony.

Within the room are a dozen shadow priests, chanting and murmuring behind Quan Chi. The audience for the wedding is comprised of several Outworld dignitaries as well as the Emperor's greatest warriors; the saurian Reptile, the clone Mileena, the blood assassin Skarlet, the soul construct Ermac, the tactician Reiko and others. The Shokan, Centaur and Outworlder royalt families are present as well.

Johnny Cage throws a fist into the air. "I OBJECT!" he shouts as loudly and as dramatically as he is able.

The crowd turns, the chanting stops, and Quan Chi looks amused.

"Ah, and the final members of our audience have arrived, the dignitaries of Earthrealm, come to witness the union between Sonya Blade and the great Emperor of Outworld, Shao Kahn.

Kaito looks around the room; he doesn't see anyone who fits the bill as Shao Kahn. Then, he sees them: Kitana, Turana and Sareena chained behind the altar, a captive audience for the ritual.

"This joke of a wedding ends now!" Jax shouts. "Release Sonya or feel the pain!"

Liu Kang steps forward. "I am Liu Kang! Descendant of the Great Kung Leo! I challenge the Emperor of Outworld to Mortal Kombat! Let him show himself, if he is so powerful!"

"There are rituals and rites to be observed," a voice reaches their ears, sly and snakelike. Shang Tsung manifests before the altar, wearing a ceremonial cloak. "The best man must first bless this union and approve the bride, and it so happens that I am he."

Kaito curls his hands into fists, and the others seem prepared to attack as well. The Outworld warriors begin to assemble before them; the Earthrealm warriors are slightly outnumbered.

He turns and walks away, leaving Kaito honestly a bit stunned and surprised at the mercenary's callousness.

"Even your allies will not stand with you against this force," Shang Tsung mocks. "What hope does Earthrealm have left?"

"They're standing right here," Liu Kang says. He points a finger at Shang Tsung. "Summon your master, sorcerer! I defeated you once, and I will have no problem doing so once more!"

A warrior from the Outworld ranks advances. He wears the garb of a royal-looking ninja warrior, clothed head to toe in purple and gold.

"You will stand down, Earthrealmer."

Shang Tsung smiles as he takes his place alongside the purple ninja. "You are outmatched..." he says, and as if on cue, Quan Chi raises his hands, summoning two more warriors. One of them is completely black, with piercing eyes as white as snow, and the other Kaito knows all too well: Scorpion. Behind this opposing force, the shadow priests gather.

Kaito holds up the axe (the fact that he picked it back up was not previously established, but is now) and readies himself. They are outnumbered and outclassed. But if he could free his allies...

They prepare to do battle.

A voice, loud as thunder and just as powerful, echoes throughout the cathedral.

"There will be no kombat on my wedding day..."

A pillar of black smoke begins to form in front of the podium alongside Sonya.

"...Without me."

From the black mist forms Shao Kahn, the conquerer of realms, Emperor of Outworld. Kaito lays his eyes upon the figure who has been the primary instigator behind every single bad thing he has had to face ever since accepting the invitation to the tournament on Shang Tsung's island.

The Emperor stands tall, very tall, with powerful muscles and a skull helmet that obscures his face. Burning red-orange eyes take in the sight of the Earthrealm warriors and his lips curl into a smile.

"This is truly a glorious day!" he says, his voice deep and booming. "Not only will I finally succeed in my conquest of Earthrealm, but my wedding will be entertaining as well!"

He crosses his arms and addresses his minions. "As your Emperor, I command that they not disturb my ceremony. Quan Chi, continue with the rites. I am prepared."

Quan Chi nods and smiles, turning the pages of his black book and preparing to seal the union.

Shao Kahn holds out his arms. "Warriors of Earth! Of Outworld! LET MORTAL KOMBAT BEGIN! FIGHT!"

"Now!" Liu Kang shouts, and the Earthrealm warriors leap into action, Kaito along with them.

The Outworld warriors rush to meet them, and in the center of the dark cathedral, they meet in Mortal Kombat.

Kaito charges in and finds himself squaring away with the red telekinetic ninja soul construct Ermac. "We are many. You are--"

"Yeah, I remember," Kaito says, cutting them off. "You're a collection of stolen souls, correct? Shao Khan and Shang Tsung are the ones who stole them and then twisted you into fighting for him, they denied your rest and forced you to serve them! Are none of you angry at this mockery?"

Their green eyes flourish as Ermac rises. "The power of Shao Kahn binds us together! We serve the Emperor of Outworld, and the Emperor of Outworld alone!"

Ermac blasts at Kaito with a bolt of green hado energy, but then Kaito teleports away, using the last bit of his power to make it to his allies.

>>40920655

As a lightning bolt, Kaito manifests across the room, behind the podium and in front of his allies. With one mighty swing, Kaito slices through the chains that bind them in place, the enchanted keen blade slicing cleanly through the chains.

Kaito turns around and looks at Quan Chi and Shao Kahn.

"Chains are for after the ceremony Shao. Not during. Come on man, this is basic protocol."

"DESTROY HIM!" Shao Kahn shouts.

Kitana immediately leaps to attack her adoptive father, kicking him in the chest and pushing him back. Sareena shouts and charges at Quan Chi, her hated master, attacking him with a flurry of blows.

"I was worried you would never get here," Turana says to Kaito.

"I was a little bit busy," he says with a shrug. He looks back at the chaos of the kombat. "Gotta love weddings."

Sub-Zero attempts to fend off both Scorpion and the dark warrior. Smoke leaps in and tackles Scorpion aside, teleporting the two of them across the room. Scorpion vanishes into fire, and the two of them disappear and reappear all over the room, kicking and punching at each other in a battle of rapid teleportation, each moving faster than the eye can easily see.

The dark warrior grabs Sub-Zero by the collar. "You are a disgrace to that uniform. When I wore it, none could defeat me."

Sub-Zero's eyes widen. "Bi-Han?!"

"I am Noob Saibot now. And I will destroy you."

Their exchange is interrupted by Jax and Kano crashing into them, both grappling onto each other. Nearby, Johnny Cage battles Skarlet. "You're pretty slick, babe," Johnny compliments her.

She turns into a puddle of blood and reappears behind him. "Woah, nevermind," he says, "it's clearly not a good time of the month for you."

As Reiko battles Kung Lao, Liu Kang fights the youthful Shang Tsung across the floor of the arena. Kaito can barely keep up with their movements, so fast are the fists and legs flying.

Suddenly, Mileena leaps upon the podium and brandishes a pair of pointed sai. "You!" she screams at Kaito.

"Oh, hey," Kaito replies. "I don't suppose we could talk and--"

Mileena leaps at him, screaming and preparing to stab him. Turana spreads her wings and tackles Mileena out of the air, and they roll across the floor, biting and clawing at each other.

Tortek is battling Reptile. The green ninja spits acid poison, which the tarkatan blocks with his bladed arms before charging. As Kaito watches, he is suddenly struck by a bolt of lightning and is knocked back.

A puddle of water forms and the purple ninja rises from it. "I understand you have power over lightning," he says, one hand crackling with electricity. "I am Rain, and I will show you the true power of the storm."

"Nice threads, by the way," Kaito says as he gets back up to his feet. "Do they come in heterosexual?"

Kaito swings his axe at Rain, who becomes as water and it passes right through him. Rain puddles underneath Kaito and grabs his legs as he comes up, tripping him.

Kaito attempts to kick his legs out and attack Rain, but the water warrior is too slippery and once more vanishes into a puddle. Kaito gets back up on his feet and waits for Rain to reappear.

Suddenly the water shoots up from below, enveloping him completely in a bubble. The water bubble is levitated upwards and Kaito is taken along with it. Rain materializes below, and then drops Kaito from high up.

Kaito falls and Rain spins in place, bringing up a kick for a super roundhouse. It hits the Earthrealmer and he is sent flying back, crashing against the stone wall of the cathedral.

Rain approaches. "I expected better. But then again, what can one truly expect from a realm as weak and pathetic as Earth?"

Rain plants a boot on Kaito's chest. "Perhaps I will spare you and force you into servitude."

"I... I bet that gets... you off, doesn't it?" Kaito spits.

Rain smiles beneath his purple veil and charges up a fistful of lightning.

Kaito, now partially juiced up, grabs Rain's foot and pulls, tripping the purple ninja. He gets up and begins to pummel the warrior with his heavy gauntlets, drawing blood until he once more turns into a puddle of water and rolls away.

"Yeah, you think about it," Kaito mutters, getting back up.

Nearby, Kaito's attention is drawn to the mind-controlled Sonya Blade. Johnny is lightly shaking her, telling her to snap out of it. She then attacks her friend, fighting in her wedding dress, still under the effects of the mind control.

Kitana is fighting Shao Kahn, who summons a great and mighty warhammer. "Impudent child! Your treachery will be your end!"

However, Kaito finds his progress halted by Reptile, who has managed to subdue Tortek, who lies groaning nearby. The green ninja uncloaks in front of Kaito. "You will not disturb the Emperor's plansss!" he hisses, holding his clawed hands out.

Kaito cocks an eyebrow. "If you really think this is going to play out differently this time, then let's go lizard-man."

Kaito, the nutcracker

Reptile dashes forward, only to have Kaito punch him in the throat. The saurian coughs as Kaito pokes his eyes, causing him to rear upwards and leave himself unguarded below. Kaito kicks Reptile in the groin before bringing his elbow down on the green ninja's neck. Reptile falls to the ground, groaning.

"Tortek, come on man! How'd you lose to this guy? He's like, the ultimate jobber!"

Nearby, Shao Kahn swings his hammer at Kitana, who ducks, causing the hammer to destroy the podium and altar. Kitana jumps backwards, backflip-kicking her adoptive father in the head, knocking off his helmet.

Shao Kahn's red eyes burn with a terrible fury. His ridged, horned brow furrows before he suddenly grins and lets out a bellowing laugh. What he is laughing at, Kaito can't tell for sure; perhaps it's the pure carnage of the battle waging all around them.

Kaito sees a clear shot at Sonya and takes it, zapping her. She gasps in surprise and falls forwards, into Johnny's arms, who guides her to the floor carefully and away from the fighting.

Shao Kahn throws his hands out. "I understand now that there can be no union between our realms. This battle proves that only the strongest prevails. I shall win Earthrealm through conquest!"

Kitana leaps at him, but he catches her leg in one hand and tosses her across the room. She hits the wall and falls to the floor.

He holds his hammer up high and smashes the remainder of the wedding altar. "I shall win Earthrealm through Mortal Kombat! As I originally intended! Let there be no peace, no bonds of matrimony! LET THERE BE ONLY WAR!"

Liu Kang tosses aside a beaten Shang Tsung and stands before the Emperor. "Then you will face me! For my fallen Shaolin brethren that you killed! For my realm!"

Kaito helps Tortek up to his feet as the Shaolin Monk begins battling the Emperor. The powerful conquerer is more than a match for the quick Liu kang, but Liu is fighting with all of his heart.

"Bi-Han... Please..." Sareena says as Noob Saibot knocks her to the ground. "Remember..."

"I remember everything," he says, slipping a hand around her neck and squeezing. "And I care for nothing. Bi-Han is dead, and soon, you will be as well."

Sareena chokes as Quan Chi looks on with a smile. Until Kaito runs up with his axe and swings it as Noob, that is. The wraith becomes as black vapor that pours away from the gasping Sareena as the axe slices harmlessly through it. Noob reforms alongside Quan Chi.

"And so at least we meet again," Quan Chi says to the lightning warrior. "I see you've had considerable influence on my assassin since you took her with you. A mistake I intend to correct soon enough."

"Bi-Han is mine," Sareena says to you.

"No," Sub-Zero says, walking up next to her. "He is mine."

The wraith laughs as his shadow grows, taking physical shape and becoming a second, more oily version of himself.

Kaito holds up his axe. "You two have fun with that. I'll take on chalkface here." Next to him, Tortek growls and extends his arm-blades.

Scorpion appears in a gout of flame alongside his master. The sorcerer smiles. "Let us begin, shall we?"

Everyone goes through a phase of wanting to be Australian.

Kaito moves in to try to use the butt of the axe against Quan Chi, but Scorpion blocks it with one of his twin swords. The Shirai Ryu smashes Kaito's face with his elbow before throwing a kunai at the end of a chain at Tortek, stabbing and pulling him closer. Scorpion backflip kicks Tortek, his feet trailing fire, and the tarkatan is sent sprawling.

"I remember you," Scorpion says to Kaito. "You sent me back to the Netherrealm."

"You looked like you could use a vacation," Kaito says as he leaps up.

"I shall do you the same favor, then," Scorpion says, removing his mask and his face with it to reveal a burning skull. "And I shall send you to hell personally!"

Kaito drops the axe, needing to be faster to keep up with Scorpion. The hellspawned spectre opens his skeletal mouth and unleashes a torrent of fire that Kaito leaps backwards over. He blasts Scorpion with a bolt of lightning, stunning him enough to give Kaito a chance to run up and deliver an electropunch in his chest. Quan Chi moves to the side and throws a green skull of energy at Kaito, who manages to block the attack with his gauntlets.

Nearby, Sareena and Sub-Zero take on the duo of Noob and Saibot, fighting the two halves of the dark warrior.

Scorpion recovers and uses a leg takedown to get Kaito on his back. He straddles the lightning warrior and rains punches down on his face; Kaito manages to get his fists up and block. Kaito headbutts the burning skull, adding a bit of electricity to his attack. A pair of hands grabs Scorpion and pulls him off of Kaito. Smoke stands there and he punches the spectre down and helps Kaito up.

"Thanks," Kaito says.

"I still owe you," Smoke replies.

Scorpion burns up as he teleports to a standing position, his eyes now smoking. "I WILL NOT BE DENIED!"

He throws out both hands, launching two chained kunai at both of them. Kaito ducks under his and Smoke catches the other. Kaito grabs ahold of it from the grey ninja.

"You're in for a shock," Kaito says, using every last bit of his energy and sending it down the chain in a series of volts.

Scorpion twitches and falls back, his flame burning out. His body vanishes in a fire and he does not return.

Kaito's attention is drawn to the center of the room where he hears a great smashing noise. Shao Kahn attempts to bring down his hammer upon Liu Kang, who dodges. The hammer cracks the floor and the walls shake.

Quan Chi takes the opportunity to create a portal behind himself and slips out, foreseeing what is about to happen.

Again and again, Shao Kahn smashes the floor. The room quakes and portions of the ceiling begin to fall. In his fury, Shao Kahn is destroying not only the cathedral, but all of the fortress.

Noob Saibot becomes one again and dives into the shadows, vanishing. Everyone watches as Shao Kahn battles Liu Kang, who flows and dances around every attack. The shaolin monk roundhouses Kahn in the face and flips back before unleashing a powerful fireball that burns the Emperor's arm.

Kahn raises his hammer and roars in primal fury and brings it down one final time. Liu sidesteps it and delivers a powerful uppercut, sending the Emperor backwards.

The room begins to collapse, with pillars falling over and the roof caving in. Kaito dodges a falling chunk of stone as Smoke looks at him. "We need to escape!"

"GO!" Kaito tells him, and the grey ninja vanishes into fog. Sub-Zero helps Sareena up as the Outworld and Earthrealm warriors rush towards the exit.

Kaito sees the wounded Kitana and helps her up. They both look on as Liu Kang continues to battle Shao Kahn as the walls and ground crumble around them.

"LIU!" Kaito shouts. "WE NEED TO LEAVE!"

The shaolin does not listen. He continues to fight the Emperor. The floor beneath them both cracks as Quan Chi's fortress begins to collapse into the sea far below.

Shao Kahn loses his footing when a portion of the ground beneath him shifts. Liu sees his opening and takes it: with one final flying kick, he soars towards Shao Kahn and knocks him backwards and off the edge. The Emperor roars as he falls amidst the rubble and stone, silenced by the sea as he is buried beneath water and the crumbling fortress.

Liu turns to run but the ground beneath him cracks and he falls, managing only to hold onto the edge.

Kaito pushes Kitana towards the exit and runs towards Liu, wishing to high hell that he had enough energy left to teleport, but after shocking Scorpion, he's completely drained.

'Now or never,' he thinks to himself. He leaps out and reaches for Liu's hand, which he grabs. The monk takes hold of him and pulls himself up.

"I got you!" Kaito cries as he pulls Liu up. They both get to their feet on the stone and run.

The floor beneath and in front of Kaito cracks and the chunk begins to fall. Liu turns and sees him go, reaching out for him but he is already too far.

Kaito falls down and everything seems to slow down. For a moment, everything that has led up to this moment flashes before him: his journies throughout Earth, to Shang Tsung's island, across half of Outworld and now this battle.

Kaito closes his eyes and enjoys the feeling of the wind on his skin, possibly for the last time.

He opens them when he lands on something alive, warm and winged. Having caught him on her back, Turana swoops upwards and soars towards the bridge.

"Didn't think I would let you fall, did you?" she asks as he rides upon her back.

Kaito laughs and throws a fist into the air, the relief at being alive and victorious punctuated by the last of Quan Chi's fortress falling into the ocean, and with it, any chance of Outworld victory in Mortal Kombat.

The defenders of Earthrealm are gathered on the bridge. Turana brings him down and lands alongside them. Kaito climbs off her back and gives her a big hug as the Earthrealmers cheer and celebrate the Emperor's defeat.

"We did it!" Johnny cries, still supporting Sonya with her arm over his shoulder. "I can't believe we actually did it!"

Tortek approaches Kaito and nods at him, and Kaito does the same. Kung Lao places a hand on Liu's shoulder. "I knew you could do it," he says.

"I wasn't alone," Liu insists. "All of us played our part. And Kaito, thank you."

Liu approaches, smiles and holds out his hand. Kaito clasps it and together all of them walk towards the end of the bridge.

Smoke and Sub-Zero say their goodbyes as well, with plans to return to Earth to begin rebuilding the Lin Kuei. Sareena shares a moment with Kaito.

"So, you're going with them?" Kaito asks.

"I... feel like I will have a place there," she says. "Bi-Han may be a shadow of his former self, but if there is ever a chance to restore him to life, I would want the Lin Kuei to be able to take him back. I will help his brother rebuild it."

Kaito nods and hugs her. "I'll miss having you around," he says.

Together, the three of them walk through the portal, with Sub-Zero and Smoke personally thanking Kaito for the rescue once more before doing so.

Liu Kang speaks with Kitana and Kung Lao. "You will not return with us?" Liu asks the princess.

"I cannot. I have duties to attend in Outworld yet; my dear friend, Jade, is still a captive at Shao Kahn's fortress. With the Emperor gone, Outworld will be in upheaval. Civil war will brew between the centaurs, shokan and the others."

Liu Kang nods his understanding. "Then this is goodbye, Kitana, until we meet again."

Together, the shaolin monks leave through the portal.

Kitana approaches Kaito. "The way to earth lies open," she tells him. "Do you plan to return?"

Kaito looks at Turana and Tortek. "You know... I actually don't know. As crazy as everything has been... being here in Outworld has been kind of... fun. I've made more friends here than I ever did on Earth."

"But you can go home," Turana tells him.

"To be honest, I've never really felt at home anywhere," Kaito replies. "I've always been a wanderer. Sure, I'm glad I saved Earth, but if I went back there now... that's all I'd be again. Here, maybe I can make more of a difference, you know?"

Kitana speaks. "If you intend to stay, there will always be a place for you in my court. I would never deny your help in the conflicts to come."

Kaito looks at the Outworld horizon. "I think..." he trails off.

What if we ask our pals what do they think about going to Earthrrealm or staing here?.
You know, having opinions and all that, if you want to type.
>>
>>40928835
What does Kaito have in Earthrealm? I know his father was killed in Mortal Kombat and his soul stolen by Shang Tsung.
What about his mother? Does he have any Siblings? A girlfriend? Any kids? Does he have a job or anything?
>>
>>40928878

"What do you guys think?" Kaito asks his allies.

Tortek seems perplexed by the question. "I do not think Earth would like me," he says.

"Well, you are definitely unique, as far as Earthrealm natives go... Turana?"

"I would like to visit Earth some time," Turana offers. "My mother often spent time in Earth many centuries ago and spoke very highly of it."

Kaito pauses. "She didn't happen to ever mention a guy named Oedipus, did she?"

Turana blinks a few times. "Yes, actually. Why?"

"...Interesting. We'll talk about it later."
>>
>>40928835
Well. We did promise to show Taruna Earthrealm, and it might do Tortek some good to go on vacation from the constant murder and cannibalism. On the other hand Outworld does have it's perks. I'd like to hear from our friends, but don't want you to have to write more than needed at this point.
(On the OTHER other hand after some rest and relaxation Taruna might be able to heal up what the Cyber Initiative did to Sub-Zero.)
>>
>>40928979
Kek sphinxes, well vote seems to be staying in outworld, I'll go with that I guess

But I'd really really like to show good ol' blue ball to Turana for a while, either now or later in the quest, but she will see Earth.

No I won't let you kill her before that, or at all, you've been warned.
>>
>>40928979
Is there any way we can pick a Neutral Option. I don't want Kaito to blow off his Mom, she's the only family he has left that I know of and she deserves to be told what happened to his dad.

But then, outworld adventures would be cool too and we promised we'd show Tortek and Turana the Earthrealm.
>>
>>40928924

I think it was established that Kaito's mother died while he was young. He doesn't have any siblings, has probably known a few girls in his travels (needing a room for the night and all) and probably never held down a job, doing odd jobs or favors for enough cash to keep him in whatever direction he was going. Street fights probably earned him some dough, too.

Well, I intend to leave this poll up for a while. I made it into a strawpoll so that anyone not here at the moment can still participate in what the answer will be at the start of the next thread.

I'll be here to answer any questions and discuss the quest. How'd you guys like this latest installment?

Needs an all of the above option.

>>40929117
I don't think Kaito's mother ever came up. From what the pastebin says of his backstory, his father dragged him around all over for martial arts training then abandoned him when he was old enough to live on his own.

As for questions: What realm do we need to be in to collect the remnants of the Cyber Lin Kuei?
I'd like Kaito to make a deal with Sub-Zero to try and reprogram as many as they can to free them and make them independant dudes.
>>
>>40929343

Thanks anon. I'm glad I'm reaching an audience; I was worried in the early threads that this story wasn't getting enough traffic to justify me continuing it, but I'm glad I have because it's been a lot of fun so far and we've still got a lot of material left to work through, so I'm looking forward to more.

>>40929385

That'd be Earth; the Lin Kuei are based out of Earthrealm and that's where the battle against them took place and where Smoke, Sub-Zero and Sareena have gone to.
>>
>>40929423
Damn, can't we like half and half our time and just wander all over Earthrealm and Outworld? Or do we need to pick a place to settle down and have kids?

It's not exactly about settling down, it's more about what Kaito does now that the second tournament is wrapped up. Also, let's consider that Shang Tsung is still alive, and still in Outworld. We can quest to find him, or we can do anything else. We have the freedom to choose where we want to go and what we want to do from this point.

Would you guys prefer a poll with a third option? I'm not saying it's not impossible, it just seems like the choice at the moment, in the now, is leave or stay. Neither are permanent.
>>
>>40929626
>Neither are permanent.
That makes me feel alot better, honestly.
>>
>>40929626
I figure we can do more good in Outworld right now. We can go back to Earthrealm later when we get the chance. We can't forget about best waifu now, can we?
>>
>>40929626
We can go to the unknown part of Outworld?
Better pack up for Outworld trip
or we can start civ:outworld edition
>>
>>40929718
>>40929718

Perhaps I could've made it more clear; it wasn't meant as a "goodbye forever" thing. Inter-realm travel isn't all that hard in Mortal Kombat's universe, as it turns out. It's mostly about knowing where the portals are and how to use them.

>>40929484

There's a distinct lack of Sheeva in this poll.
>>
>>40929766
Let's see, here's what I have on my "Shit for Kaito to do" list.

Outworld:
Go see Yanake.
Link up Kitana's Forces and Birdman's Forces.
Take Sub-Zero to the Healing Springs and the Ice Caves.
Clear out some of Shao Kahn's forces control.
Clear out Shao Kahn's fortress.
Loot Shao Kahn's fortress.
Punch Shang Tsung in the junk more.
Round up the last of Shao Kahn's forces.
Try to get Ermac and Scorpion to switch sides.
Find Rokuro.
Hang out with Rokuro.
Maybe broker peace with the Shokan. (Because they're the least dickish out of the whole Shokan/Centaur/Tarkatan deal.)

Earthrealm:
help Sub-Zero and Smoke round up the Cyberized Lin Kuei.
Restore the free will of as many Cyber Lin Kuei as possible.
Hang out with Liu Kang at the White Lotus Temple. (Because he totally owes us for saving his ass.)
Hang out with Jax, Sonya and Johnny.
Visit Mom. (Because I totally believe she's still alive.)
Show Tortek and Turana around Earthrealm.

I think that's everything on my lists.

>>40929626
So Damashi, you willing to give us a teaser of what's to come during the MK3/UMK3/MKT arc? Or maybe some of the stuff happening between, like what happened to a few of Shao Kahn's guys or maybe Rokuro or Yanake while we were stopping a crazy wedding?

Also did Goro/Kintaro/Sheeva make it out of the Fortress?
>>
>>40929799
You use alot of original characters? You willing to take write ins on some original characters that might show up?

Also, will we keep playing Kaito for MK3, or will we play a new dude for the start of it since MK3 was the whole "Big Changes and New Roster" game for MK?

can't deny dem quads

The shokan didn't re-enter the wedding chapel; this will lead to their lessened importance ala MK3's rise of the Centaur's as the favored race. This could be exploited to get the shokan to help defend Earthrealm.

I actually have a whole folder of ideas from art threads and RPGs along with OC's I stole from DeviantArt I've been thinking of introducing. I just don't want to introduce too many OC's in too short of a timeframe, and I find they work better during non-game moments (like between MK1 and MK2, like I did with Yanake and Turana).

I also tend to take artistic redesigns of characters and make them into their own characters, like Tortek's art was someone's idea for Baraka that I made into his own character since it was distinctive enough on its own.

But yeah, I'd be perfectly willing to take suggestions. I've also been meaning to set up a method of contact for this thread specifically, like a Twitter account or something.

I've been telling you to get a twitter for like four threads man! It'd a good idea, keep us updated and lets us contact you.
Make sure to grab an Ask.FM account too, people can ask you shit on there.

I think we need a Good Guy Cyborg Ninja, and giant brown muscle tits.

>Also, will we keep playing Kaito for MK3, or will we play a new dude for the start of it since MK3 was the whole "Big Changes and New Roster" game for MK?

On that note, I always wondered if having an original protagonist was the way to go with this thread. It could have been Johnny, or Liu, or Lao, or it could have hopped around and changed perspective a lot.

The threads have been solely following Kaito up until this point, but how would people feel about following another character, or multiple protagonists? If we switched from one thread to Liu, or Sub-Zero, or another original character (who, like Kaito, would be based on suggestions and collaboration from the posters).

We could even roll on it, using this chart that I made for that specific purpose.
>>
>>40930319
If you get too many Protags, it might get confusing.
I'd say only jump if it's a route split, or maybe special single sessions where we take on the role of someone else.
>>
>>40930319
You know who I've been thinking might be fun to play? Erron Black.

Unless something comes up, that's the plan.

>>
>>40931483
Definately. Are we timeskipping straight to MK3 with a recap, or are we going to be doing some in between game shit for abit?
>>
>>40931509

I'm not too fond of timeskipping. I did it once so far, when Kaito and frienss timeskipped to the boat heading towards the Sea of Blood. I'd like there to be some room for character interactions, story development and maybe an original character or two before we get to the events of the next game.
>>
>>40931765
Awesome, sounds fun. So, does this timeline have the weirdest collection of Earthrealm defenders so far? Or can we get weirder?

Whelp, that's about it for this thread folks, I'll see you next time.

Kabal is pretty low on the weird shit O'meter, IMO. He's just a burned dude wearing an artificial respirator.
>>
>>40932027

With SUPER SPEED AND HOOK SWORDS
>>
>>40932060
That's pretty normal for MK though. Johnny is a goddamn movie star who can do crazy afterimage kicks and throw energy.
>>
>>40932108

Yeah but at least they explained that in a retcon. Kabal just gets a mask and then bam, super speed and plasma balls.
