You are Sallazar, a young wizard who has recently left the army. You have taken a teaching job at Egwen Girls Convent.

In addition the Headmaster of the school wants you to run the schools adventurers club, to give some of the schools more...unusual...girls something fun to do.

The Adventurers Club http://pastebin.com/t467eb4q
Classes and Races http://pastebin.com/wCst2V8B
Quest Rules http://pastebin.com/RG9EAvPq
Main Character http://pastebin.com/xHFh2iz2
Setting http://pastebin.com/ej98zdgD
Continent Map http://ibin.co/260vHqwvCza9

After a frustrating time in the nearby town of Brand you head back to the school. You’ve missed lunch and head straight to the afternoons lessons.

Your internal frustrations must have been showing, as none of the girls in your classes misbehave, instead they shoot worried glances at one another.

After lessons are done, and you’ve herded your final class to the dining hall, you climb the stairs to see the Headmaster in his office...you rather thoughtfully has had his skeletal servants lay out dinner for both of you on a side table in his study.

“I missed you at lunch” he says “I wondered where you had gotten.”

As soon as you have got sat down and started eating, the whole frustrating saga comes bubbling forth.

“And then that greedy asshole, Aldersly, has the audacity to ask me to guarantee him the money.” You finish your tale “so of course I told him I would need to speak to you and refused to commit to anything”.

“Very wise” says Sir Sarum, taking a sip of his wine “600 gold a year is easily found in the school accounts, its not a burdensome costs, but neither is the property tax burden of Brand so high – I would be surprised if 150 gold a year wasn’t enough to cover twenty homes. Still, I leave the decision in your hands – I’m currently negotiating with the school board over an annual stipend for the Adventurers Club, but 150 gold a year can easily be taken from that.”
>>
So the greedy bastard was trying to charge you about four times what he’d actually need, sounds about right.

You try a legal argument “is this deal something that could be taken to court and if so in what way would that likely play out? I mean: would there be an order to stop building new homes? What type of court would hear the case? What is the druid land, legally speaking?”

“I’m no lawyer” says Sir Sarum “though some of my skeletons were. I believe it would fall under private contract law, with the agreement made between the mayor and the druids, with the mayor, as representative of the town, being responsible for holding Mr Aldersly to the deal, which he is clearly not doing. As the Mayor is involved in the case, he cannot hear the case personally, no it would go to the nearby lord, Baron Haplendale I believe.”

“How do you think he’d rule?” you ask

“In whatever way gets him out of the courtroom quickest and back to his favourite pursuits of drinking, hunting and whoring” says Sir Sarum, with obvious contempt “The young Baron is burning through his estate funds rather quickly though, he might be amenable to a bribe...but he has little love for druids – they’ve interrupted the slaughterfests he calls *hunts* before.”

“Oh, lovely” you say gloomily.

“Still” says the Headmaster “It was Taynathil you met.”

“Oh yes” you say, you’ll not easily forget that arrogant bitch...

“Pride is her weakness” says Sir Sarum “challenge her to a contest in an area she thinks she is superior to you in, and beat her, putting as wager her service as a teacher.”

“What am I supposed to beat her at, archery?” you snark

“Perhaps the girls can help you there” he suggests. Well, maybe...

“Anyway” he says “the girls will have finished their dinner, and you have training to attend to.”

Apologies about not sticking around for questions last thread.

Yes, there will be bonus XP for art

Exp award for PDF character sheets: You gain 3XP for the MC, and 15 for the club pool. You’ll continue to gain 1 and 5 PER THREAD as long as they keep up to date.

Hopefully I’ve answered the legal questions in OP.

XP can be spent at any time, but training sessions are a suitable time to spend it, yes.

Today’s thread will be a little short – about 6 hours. Tonight my monk is due to save the day on roll20 again.

I expect to be around to answer questions.

How exactly does the "Trainer" system work.
What are the restrictions on not having a trainer of a certain class? Can we only teach skills that fall under class abilities for a trainer we have?
>>
>>40878855
Go for it.
>>
>>40878902
>What are the restrictions on not having a trainer of a certain class?

The girls can only train towards a specific class when working with a trainer for that class. So if they spend XP on strength, and are working with a Fighter (or Barbarian) trainer, they can use that towards the 20 needed to qualify for that class.

If not working with a trainer, they spend the XP and gain the strength, but do not count it towards qualifying for the class, and thus cannot access the special abilities of that class.

>Can we only teach skills that fall under class abilities for a trainer we have?

No, you're at a school; the regular teachers could teach skills, but unless working with a trainer, it does not count towards gaining a class.

“You’re right Headmaster” you say, rising from your seat “thank you for your time”

“Any time my boy” he says “any time”
---
You round up the girls, and Groundskeeper Answick, and head out to the clubhouse.

As the girls file in, they look around with interest at the training dummies, wooden weapons on their racks, the array of peculiar metal objects that are probably thieves tools, the ropes piled up and the second-hand alchemy sets and spellbooks.

“Alright” you say “you’re probably wondering why I’ve gathered you here-”

“Ohh, oh I know!” says Chame “seven young nubile school girls, two old guys, late at night, far away from anywhere, with weird creepy ritual stuff, restraint and sharp objects, this is a religious studies lesson.”

The girls variously roll their eyes, snort and/or giggle, you wait until they calm down and then say “no” in the best deadpan tone you can manage.

“The Headmaster asked me to run the Adventuring Club and I agreed” you say “I was there when it all started, but apparently its gone from a handful of enthusiasts to an international competition now, and next year, a Junior Championship. The purpose of this club is to learn how to be adventurers, including dungeoncrawling, though I understand there will be some open-air fights as well.”

“Now, back yonder in the distant past” you say, picking up a wooden weapon “we used shield spells and had potions of healing on hand, these days there are other safety features – you’ll find out more when you go through your first dungeon – two days from now.”

That’s got their attention: you see expressions of shock, some fear, and from others, anticipation.

And how will you finish your introduction?

Gonna try posting it at the start of new threads from now on, depending on how exactly XP spending for the girls works.

Replaced "Unspent XP" with "Unspent TP", in case someone wonders, because the girls don't have individual unspent XP anyway.
>>
“We’re training for a competition here” you say “but remember, having fun is the most important part, this is a game, not a war. You’re here to pick up some skills and knowledge that will stand you in good stead for the rest of your lives because this is your first step on the past of really living up to your fullest potential.”

You pause to see how well you’re doing. So far they’re paying attention, and smiling tolerantly, like they’ve heard this sort of speech before.

Phaysis raises a hand

“Yes, Phaysis” you say.

“Don’t you think we can win sir?” she asks breathlessly, her eyes wide, and her lower lip stuck out and trembling, her hands clasped under her chin. Standing next to her Nevyn stifles a giggle.

“Of course you can win girls!” you say triumphantly “you’re going to be the champions!”

The girls give a cheer, which dies down as you say “so, dungeoncrawling is going to involve a lot of physical activity, warm up exercises come first, yes even for the wizards” you say as Cleya raises a hand “being able to duck and run is an important skill. So, go and grab your gym clothes, and be back here in ten minutes.”

The girls all scramble out of the door. Once they’re gone, Groundskeeper Answick asks “So, which girls are gonna be doing what sir?”

That’s a good thought, what are you going to be training each of the seven girls for?

>I’ll pick the girls classes (options in next post)
>I’ll tell them about the classes, and they choose

Monk might be better for her than Fighter, especially if it boosts her Beast Form's natural attack damage, since that combined with Deadly Strike could get absurd.

>Phaysis
Ranger is probably a better damage dealing frontliner than Fighter, due to how many powers they get specifically for fighting multiple foes in melee. It's also better for ranged combat. Fighter is pretty support-oriented.

Some are already obvious choices, and we got Answick and us to let them put some XP towards a few classes for those it concerns.

True, looking it over again it really doesn't work for that.

It reminds me that we also need to figure out who will lead the team.
>>

Let's put the tentacle girl in charge.
>>
>>40879335
She is the one with the highest Fellowship.
But I'm not sure if her attitude wouldn't get in the way.
Anlanesa has as much of a Fellowship score, and she has it as Primary attribute.
>>
“Rather than training them in specific skills” you say to Answick “I think it’s best if we gve them a chance to try everything, or as much as we can demonstrate right now. It’ll give them something to think about; then hopefully they can pick their own classes.”

“Right you are sir” says Answick, and then gives you a sly look “You any good with that staff?”

“Well that depends” you say “Are you any good with a sword?”
---
The girls, all changed into their gym clothes, or in Anlanesa’s case, swimwear, all come barrelling in to the room.

They pull up short at the sight of you and Groundskeeper Answick in padded gear, and holding wooden weapons.

“Alright girls” you say “after ten laps around the clubhouse as a warm up, we’re going to talk you through the different classes and what they are good at, firstly, the more combat-oriented classes. Groundkeeper, when you’re ready.”

Wheezing a bit after that demonstration you say “ok, there are several classes that mix spellcasting with other abilities, first up, the Bard...”
---
After the giggling has died down you say “yes, very perceptive Chame, now if you’d please give Cleya her t-shirt and ah, under-shirt garment back, thank you.”

Cleya is naked from the waist up, her arms and hands covering her essentials, and glaring at Chame. Chame is holding Cleyas gym shirt and bra “Special bard dis-armouring technique” she says with a grin.

“So yes, um, some bards might be good at negating at opponents armour by uh, removing, the skill I don’t think is a common one, moving on.”
---
“Now we get to the best classes of all” you say with more enthusiasm “mages, such as wizards, sorcerers, and yes I suppose druids and priests also technically qualify. Now magic is a very powerful and versatile tool but it takes time, focus and talent to master.”
>>
After you’ve discussed each class (and demonstrated what you can) you say “ok girls, now you’re each going to spend a few minutes trying the techniques we can teach you, and then you can pick which ones you want to learn today, afterwards we’ll talk about which classes you want to start training in. Any questions? No, good, let’s get started.”

>Spend XP on specific stuff (what?)

Discuss as long as you want as I write the next update. If there is consensus, we’ll go with that, otherwise I’ll call a vote.

Note: XP spent today can count towards a specific class at player choice, but the girls gain no training points from this session.

Evrumine, 11/70 XP spent, 59 remaining

>Melee Training +1 (1), -4 XP
>Evrumine has become a Barbarian!

Nevyn, 10/59 XP spent, 49 remaining
>Hit Points +4 (8), -4 XP
>Beast Form, -6 XP

I have a reason for those HP. Beast Form costs 4 AE to enter, and since Nevyn currently has no AE, she has to spend HP. 4 - 4 = 0, meaning she'd have to make a con check to stay awake every time she uses the power without additional HP.

These are the only two I'm somewhat certain on.

For Anlensa, probably just going to be some weapon skills and HP boosting, maybe a point or two of Willpower towards Sorcerer. Downside, she has it as a tertiary, upside the increased cost makes Sorcerer something that might actually be within her grasp.

For Cleya, leaning towards nothing but Growing Powers, because eyestalks so OP.

Some spell-likes, HP boosts and removing the tentacle penalty (2 XP) for Calluna, maybe a weaponskill (Rapier if melee since those use Agility instead of Strength, and her Strength is pretty bad right now).

Phaysis would be +1 to Agi and Con, HP boost and ranged or melee weaponskills.
>>
>>40879532
Calluna needs to get Cure Light Wounds, in any case. She is the only healing skill we currently have access to.
She should, IMO, go ranged and take 4 agility to get rid of her penalty with tentacles.
Our frontline is already fairly crowded.

>>40879532
>For Cleya, leaning towards nothing but Growing Powers, because eyestalks so OP.
Absolutely

>>40879532
Get Anlanesa 2 points of Willpower so she gets out of the penalty for her Innate Magic, and purchase Cone of Cold so she can get a AE pool. Otherwise buy her First Rank of Ice Giant and a melee skill.
>>
>>40879532
Let's get a weapon expertise for all of them.
>>
>>40879561
Nevyn's Beast Form bonus is roughly equivalent to a weapon expertise (effective +2 due to stat bonuses), but also comes with a bunch of natural attacks, bonus HP and increases to stats instead of just ToHit.

She's the only one that isn't planned to get an actual weaponskill.

>>40879560
CLW was on the list to get.
Calluna doesn't have Limbs Unrivalled, so multiple weapons held in tentacles might impart a penalty.

I actually forgot that getting an IMP would give her an AE pool.

Chame can abuse her shapeshifting for perfect sneak attacks, sticking to someone's back and then stabbing them to death. So another melee weapon expertise for her, but her versatility could use a ranged expertise as well.
>>

Cone of Cold doesn't actually create ice, it just creates an area of extreme cold. No water is gained or lost.

>>40879662

Not sure if she can actually get non-Arcane magic, but if there was any mention of not being able to do so, I missed it, and we'll need someone to have Create Water or a similar ice/water creation ability if we're going to be able to use Ice Giant semi-reliably.

>>40879854
Spear, if anything, since she can turn into a cavalry unit pretty much at will.

Not mutually exclusive with my recommendations due to the bonus XP.

I want to hold of melee training for her so we can buy it when we have the Ranger trainer to get her into that class ASAP.

We can't actually choose her spells for Growing Powers. We can only suggest a theme.

>>40879908
My themes are Disintegrate and Create Water.

I'm not sure if Innate Magic abilities can be counted towards Sorcerer/Wizard class.

I also would prefer to gear Calluna towards Wizard, to make use of the specilisation rules we would benefit from having several wizards, and she doesn't really get anything from Sorcerer class in particular.

Fair point, I'll slow it down some from here, though existing awards remain.

Sorcerer yes, Wizard no
>>

I suppose if we give Phaysis her Spear training 1, for 2XP from our Bonus XP, we got ourselves a deal here.
>>
>>40879971
Sure, though I'm reconsidering my "themes" for Growing Powers since I just remembered that Anlesca could get Wall of Ice, which involves the creation of a fairly large amount of Ice. They probably weren't valid anyway.
>>
>>40879893
>and we'll need someone to have Create Water
Well, we do know that girl that can learn Priest spells without needing the class...
>>
>>40880008
Can't we just have give Cleya the theme "Ice" for her growing power?
If she learns Ice Wall, she can just use her Flame Spray to melt it.
>>
>>40880011
There are two of those, though we haven't met the other one yet.
>>
>>40880018
She wouldn't need to melt it. Anlanesa can use a large volume of water *or* ice for Ice Giant.

I also don't see much of a point in specifically going for it with Cleya now that we can get Anlanesa a suitable power immediately, without playing the lottery, using the bonus XP.
>>
>>40880036
So we revise Cleya into just getting Growing Powers Rank3/2 each, Pallys choice.
And Anlanesa gets
>Wall of Ice (2XP sorcerer)
>>
Evrumine has clearly enjoyed herself, and is a natural barbarian.

Nevyn has discovered a new talent: part way through weapons training she got a little angry at her inability to lay a solid blow on Groundskeeper Answick and transformed into a Displacer Beast! You quickly trapped her in a resilient sphere until it became clear that she retained her intelligence and reason when transformed. Still it tired her out and she needed to rest after turning back.

Unsurprisingly, Chame is taking to the sneaking lessons like a natural, and she is a pretty good shot with a crossbow too.

Anlanesa mastered a cone of cold energy when attempting to use magic, it remains to be seen how else her powers will develop.

Phaysis is working hard at getting good with a longbow.

Calluna gave you all a shock when she her own powers manifested as the ability to step between spaces and heal injuries – such as Evrumine hitting Phaysis too hard with a wooden axe.

Cleya discovered two new eyestalks she can manifest, after studying magic with you. It’s best to find out what they do later, somewhere safer, you’ve no idea what sort of powers she can learn.

After a long training session the girls all sit down on the chairs in the corner of the clubhouse. Evrumine and Phaysis are sweating from their physical exertions and Evrumine is giggling, whilst Phaysis scowls.

“That’s never happened before!” she insists.

“What happened?” you ask.

“Phaysis put on a helmet” says Evrumine, almost falling out of her chair as she giggles “And when she turned into a centaur she had a bridle on her! She’s a real riding horse now!”

Phaysis glares at Evrumine “oh shut up you cow.”

Evrumine goes from giggling to angry within seconds. Before she can escalate things you intervene “Both of you take a moment and calm down, Evrumine, Phaysis didn’t know she was going to do that, and it was no doubt embarrassing for her. Phaysis, that’s not a nice way to speak to Evrumine.”
>>
The two eye each other suspiciously, and then mumble apologies.

“And now that you’ve all had a chance to try the different skills and abilities” you say “which classes do you want to work towards?”

“Barbarian!” says Evrumine “the biggest, baddest class there is!”

“Oh rogue, defs” says Chame, then looks sly at Cleya “though when we get a trainer for it, bard could be fun too.”

Cleya glares at Chame with all three eyes, then turns to you and says “Wizard sir, please.”

“I’m torn between ranger and barbarian” says Phaysis, “Can I learn both?”

“Fighter and Rogue” says Nevyn “pouncing on stuff and beating it is the best way to win, or should that be “Monk and rogue?”

“I like Wizard too” says Anlanesa, sat next to Cleya. Hmm, but she’s more suited to sorcerer...

“Calluna?” you ask her, sat at the back, away from the others “is there any class you like?”

Calluna shrinks in her seat, as the other girls turn around “I dunno, Bard I guess.”

Chame laughs loudly and gives a whoop.

“Not like that” says Calluna, blushing “I mean, like, Bard does a bit of everything right? Some magic, some fighting, some Rogue skills, I kinda want to learn a bit of everything.”

Well that’s true, but maybe multiple classes for her is a better idea, or perhaps she can step up into a leadership role?

“Well, it’s the end of today’s training session” you say to the girls “did you like it?”

“Oh yeah” says Chame “when’s the next one?”

“I had loadsa fun!” says Evrumine enthusiastically, swinging an imaginary axe

“It was an excellent investment of time” says Cleya “thank you sir”

The others offer similar views; overall it seems they enjoyed themselves, but then today was all about fun, not hard work. They might think differently after a tougher session.

Correct, this is about the girls stating a preference about what they *want* to train in, and will train in, unless you persuade them otherwise, or until new info comes up that could change their minds.

>When you say will train in, does that mean we're no longer allowed to direct their XP spending or just that all applicable prereqs that could go towards their preferred class will do so automatically?

They'll gain training points in the applicable class.

XP can be spent upon anything, but if spend on a qualifying ability for that class, it automatically goes to that class.

XP spent on other abilities cannot count towards other classes, only the class or classes they are training in.

“Good choices” you say “good choices, ok, that’s enough for tonight and its late, get some rest, Calluna and Anlanesa, please stay for a few minutes, I want to ask you something.”

The girls all file out, except for Calluna and Anlanesa. You address Anlanesa first “wizard really is the best class there is” you jokingly “and I think its great you want to be one, but wouldn’t sorcerer suit your talents better?”

“What do you mean sir?” asks Anlanesa “I’m smart and I study hard.”

“I know” you say “but today you learned how to fire a blast of cold energy instinctively, that’s very much a sorcerer power, not a wizard one.”

“Oh” says Anlanesa, a little disappointed.

“But the skills are very similar” you say “you’d be learning the same things, just in a different way.”

“Oh yes, well then, I guess sorcerer it is” says Anlanesa with a smile.

You turn to Calluna “Bard might not be the best choice for you” you say.

Calluna stretches and thrusts her chest out “you don’t think I’ve got what it takes?” she asks slyly. Anlanesa giggles as you keep your eyes firmly in Callunas face.

“More that it won’t give you access to all the skills you could learn” you say “if you start training in several different classes, you’ll take longer to get there, but you’ll end up with a much broader array of skills than if you just went full bard.”

“Hm,,, yeah I guess” says Calluna “I guess that makes sense, so like, Sorcerer, Rogue and Barbarian.”

“Sure” you say, thinking hard “although that might change later on.”

The two girls leave, clearly they have much to think about. Groundskeeper Answick bids you goodnight and you head to bed, tired after a long day.

Phaysis. She seems to have a lot of enthusiasm and her dream powers could help with extra lessons, like how the fae girl helped Raynia how to bang Shee.

Cleya seems to be the only one that would make sense right now. Would allow her to learn about magic while we prepare the classes.
Though honestly it doesn't seem like it would work for any of them.

>>40880587
I guess...whoever is more excited with it? On the other hand, I think the less intelligent/dedicated girls could benefit from it, a form to shape them up. Like Evrumine, this could teach her patience and maybe raise her smart/charisma through osmose or need.

If we only want efficiency, then one of the bookworms, like Cleya.
>>
>>40880587
Cleya or Analesa. Both have a solid grasp of magic and are smart enough. Although Analesa being more charismatic may help her teach better.
>>

Cleya, since she is the most interested in what we are doing, wizardry.
I guess Chame to keep any eye on her?
Anlanesa would work for the same reasons Cleya would, though she seems like she gets more easily along with others, so making her follow us around would probably be more detrimental for her. But it would show we aren't doing favoritism with Cleya, I guess.

I suppose whoever would show enthusiasm for actually doing it?

You head back towards Brand, mulling over how to sort this problem. You could cave to Mr Alderslys demands (bargaining him down on price however) and pay him, although the funds would likely come out of the as-yet-unknown budget for the adventuring club.

You could simply accept his counter-offer of a less skilled trainer, grating though that might be.

You could ask Mayor Scoper for a copy of the agreement, and then launch a legal challenge, though that would take some time.

You could search for the other Ranger reputed to be in the area and/or the Druid, perhaps they will agree to teach your girls?

You could try the Headmasters suggestion, and challenge Taynathil to some sort of contest, but you’d have to put something up as a wager, and who knows what an elf might want of you....

What is your plan?

>>
So grabbing a copy of the contract, *then* talk to the elf, writing.

>>40880867
>It could be an extra training session this way.
Phaysis ability is not similar to fey dreamwalking.
It doesn't work the way you imagine it to work, the dreams are still regular dreams.

>>40880867
>Why?
Because letting someone fuck with your dreams and invade your mind is not very healthy behaviour.
>>
You decide to get a copy of the contract anyway. People should follow the rules of the law, your time amongst the dwarves has left you with a strong respect for such things.

And, maybe showing that you’re willing to help will convince Taynathil to accept the terms of your challenge, or demand something less onerous from you if you lose.

You head to the mayors house, but find his wife at home. She is welcoming and polite, and locates a copy of the agreement for you, after you give her your word that you’ll return it once you have no need of it.

You have a quick read through of the agreement: it seems fairly simple. It guarantees that there will be no logging or cutting of trees in the western forest further than a distance of eight thousand feet from the towns well, though it allows for the collection of dead wood. It lists fines and punishments for those caught breaking the law, as well as allowing the druids circle to release the town from its obligation.
It doesn’t specify what the town gained from the agreement though, which is odd.
Finally it declares itself as an agreement under the laws of Albia.

You roll it back up and put it in your bag, as you head into the forest. It’s not long before you hear a rumbling behind you. Turning around there’s that huge bear again.

You simply stare it down, in no mood for games “I’m trying to help” you tell the bear “now where’s your owner?”

“I don’t own Amluka” says an elven voice from above you “we just work together, what do you want, wizard?”

You look up, crouched on a tree-branch overhead is Taynathil, her long flowing green cloak allowing you to see nothing interesting, despite standing directly beneath her.

You try politeness first “I’ve obtained a copy of the agreement” you say “the mayor really should be fining Mr Aldersly until he stops logging.”

“So go and tell them” says Taynathil, looking down at you.

“I’m planning on taking them to court” you say “and let the law deal with lawbreakers.”
>>
“Good luck” she says sardonically “mans laws exist to protect man, no one else.”

“I need you to train my girls now” you say “won’t you help me?”

She snorts “when the logging stops, then I’ll help you, wizard, until then, stay out of the forest; Amluka is always hungry.”

“Or” you say “maybe I should find another trainer, I’m going to court because I respect the law, whether you help me or not. Maybe I’ve got the wrong ranger; maybe you just don’t have the right level of skills my girls need.”

She narrows her eyes at you “You’re treading on dangerous ground wizard.”

“Before I take you on” you say “you need to prove your skills, I challenge you to a contest. If I win, you agree to start training my girls immediately”

Taynathil raises an eyebrow at you “and if I win?”

“What do you want?” you ask

She gives a mocking laugh “from you, nothing, but perhaps you can learn a lesson, I know how much you wizards cling to your unnatural power: if I win, you don’t use any magic, for 3 months.”

You try not to show how much that shocks you, 3 months! That’s too much. If she wants that as the stakes, you’ll ask for more from her, or maybe offer to not use magic for a shorter time frame, or with a caveat, like except in defence of your life or another’s, or when training your girls. Privately you think that you wouldn’t stick to that agreement if your life, or the life of one of your students, was in danger anyway. But it would be nice to have it in the deal.

“I might need to use my magic in defence of my own life, or my students lives” you say reasonably “and how can I teach without using magic? I agree to the three months, with exceptions for teaching or defending myself and others.”

Taynathil shrugs, as if she doesn’t really care.

“And” you add “if you fail, you join the club as a full-time assistant and healer, not just as a trainer.”

Taynathil jumps down to the ground, just inches away from you, you hold your ground.

She looms over you and whispers “fine, what did you have in mind, wizard?”

You can feel her breath on your face, and her almond-shaped eyes are just inches from yours, giving you a look of utter contempt.

You realise you forgot to think of something you can challenge her at that she’ll be good at, but you’re better at.

Then a rather treacherous thought occurs: the girls can help you with this. For example if you picked a footrace through the forest. You could hide near the finish-line, whilst Chame pretends to be you at the starting line.

You could also pit your abjuration magic against...anything she’s got, though she might not agree. Say, cast your spells and let the bear attack you, if it draws blood before a time limit, you lose.

You could also have one of the girls go up against her, in some fashion. She doesn’t know their skills after all.

What contest do you suggest?

So there is no interpretation in which doing something with the girls won.

It doesn’t have to be you that bests her; one of the girls, or perhaps a group of them, could do so just as well.

Phaysis could race her over an open field, Nevyn could best her in a game of hide and seek, as could Chame. Well, maybe at any rate, Taynathil is supposedly a skilled ranger, she might find them anyway.

“Well?” she asks, you’ve spent a while thinking this over.

“How about a race” you say “two flags, whoever brings the flag back to the finish line first wins.”

She gives you a suspicious look “I know about teleportation spells wizard” she says “I’m not stupid.”

“Oh I wouldn’t race” you say “I’m a terrible runner, no, it would be one of my students instead.”

“Same problem” she says.

“This girl can’t teleport” you say “and this would be a race between just the two of you – no outside interference, but other than that, you can each use whatever you like.”

She thinks about this “And no teleporting or flying flags, or illusionary ones.”

“Of course not” you say, trying to sound offended “this is a race, speed against speed, one side of the lake to another.”

“Aha!” she says “you said *race* not *footrace* - so your girl is some sort of mer-girl, that’s your trick, fine, I agree, you said we can use whatever we like. There’s a lake up in the valley” she points “the fish there get pretty big, I’ll tell them not to eat your girl, just scare her off, deal, wizard, when?”

“This evening” you suggest, it’ll give you a chance to explain the situation to Phaysis.

“Enjoy life without your magic, wizard” she says, striding off into the forest. The bear yawns and turns to follow her.

Right, now you just need to explain to Phaysis why she has to race her new trainer in order to well, get her to train her.

>Athletics isn't necessarily governed by Agility
You can absolutely bet it is.

>>40882582
>It probably is if you're trying to beat a time limit or another person in a competition.
Nope. Speed is decided by Base Speed, which is a different stat.
Now if we talk about additional challenges in the race, like if we were actually running through the forest and had to evade roots and such, that would be athletics.
>>
And thread over. Thanks for playing. Next thread is expected to be on Friday, but please check twitter.

I’ll hang around for Q&A

First topic: XP

For simplicity I’ve been using 1XP (MC) = 5XP (club) because the club splits theirs, between 7 girls so far, but probably more in the future.

I could track them entirely separately, use a smaller multiplier (x2, x3) or reduce the XP the MC gets, to slow things down.

What are your preferences?

XP for this thread delayed, for reasons. All feedback welcome.

I love the staff btw, very funny

If you have requests for more stuff you wanna see, let me know.
>>
>>40882607
>What are your preferences?
I'm okay with the 1:5 split it works fine.
The issue was just getting batches of XP too often would have led to power inflation like in the other quests.

Thanks for the thread. Hope we get to the dungeon soon.
>>
>>40882589

We can still ask Janrael
>>
>>40882651
I like this idea.
>>
>>40882633
She might have refused at that point

She knows you go to a school for unusual girls, she also believes she can beat any young girl in a standard race.

Saying no swimming or no mer-girl, would have gotten her thinking, and centaur might've been her next thought, or flight.
>>
>>40882607
Thanks for running.

Aside from the XP amount, I hope todays way of spending it was a exception, because while I enjoy the sperg, it would probably be better for the quests pacing and for the theme, if we have only indirect influence on what exactly the XP are being spend on.

>>
>>40882702

>>
>>40882675

I plan for future XP use to be handled by myself and Autism Anon, rather than the players as a whole. Today the vote was no specific training, giving neither of us any idea what players wanted the girls to learn.

I plan to allocate XP on a class and race basis depending on what I see the girls preferences as.

Players (via the MC) can still try to get girls to learn specific abilities if they want.

Be warned: I build bland all-rounders though.

I expected you to do it alone. Yes, more work, but AA is too much of a minmaxer to reflect the growth of young teens. I expect them to randomly try various things, even if they have a preferred class, as they try things out and are momentarily impressed with something new/different.
>>
>>40882773
>I expect them to randomly try various things, even if they have a preferred class, as they try things out and are momentarily impressed with something new/different.
That doesn't make a lot of sense in the context of the story.
Trying a few things here and there doesn't need to be reflected in the stats. And since their training runs over the Adventurer club, it will naturally be rather more focused, as normal for athletes.
Some might try different things, some might not, but that will be a matter in the story.
>>
>>40882773
>to reflect the growth of young teens. I expect them to randomly try various things
Most teens don't do a lot of different things.

>>
>>40883672
There is a difference between
>looking good
and
>sexy
Also, athletes usually want practical uniforms. Those may or may not end up being sexy, by way of being worn by attractive young girls, but thats not the point.

Picking specifically sexy outffits for girls mostly 14 and younger is pretty damn creepy.
>>
>>40883673
>Won't we get to give them real gear though? I thought that our budget would go towards that?

It likely will, but left to their own devices they will customise it
>>
>>40883729
>but left to their own devices they will customise it
As long as it doesn't compromise the actual protective value of the gear, how would that be even our choice then?
Except to discourage it maybe.
>>
>>40883573
>>40883630
Probably tradition. Adventurers dress sexily all the time.

Besides, magic can make up for exposed skin. The outfits are purely aesthetics.
>>
>>40883729
I don't see why practical and the other ones are seperate options then?
Clearly it should always be practical and can be whatever else secondary.
There is no reason for it not to be practical.
>>
>>40883716
It's not creepy, it's empowering.
>>
>>40883729
You know.
If some of the young girls in your quests are oddly "precocious", I chalk that up to, sometimes that happens, like with Chesi and similar.
But its getting to the point where all of them are all the time.
And thats not really interesting character quirks anymore when all of them behave the same unusual way.
>>
>>40883843
Thanks for the feedback Anon, I'll think about how I plan to portray the girls from here on, and how to make them distinct.
>>
>>40883843
Anon, please. We haven't even met all of them yet. And consider that peer pressure is a strong thing, it's specially true about women.
>>
>>40883843
All girls want to be pretty, somehow. Or rather, want to be called pretty; many will do whatever they need for it.
>>
>>40883821
No, its really not.
If some of the girls choose to sex up their uniform because thats their character, like Chame, thats just characters having personality.

When you start trying to tell me all of the children want to be sexy, thats when it gets into the weird territory that detracts from personality.

Most of the girls we have right now are children, you can start talking about the constant "muh lewds" with the 16+ girls. As obnoxious as it might be at least it makes some sense.

>>40883896
>We haven't even met all of them yet.
How is that even relevant to the point?
>And consider that peer pressure is a strong thing
That doesnt even make any sense. You can't juust throw out words and expect it to convince people.

>>40883935
>All girls want to be pretty, somehow.
Thats a pretty big difference between wanting to be pretty and wanting to emphasize ones sexual attributes. A really big one.
>>
>>40883935
Pretty is distinct from sexy, and there are a lot of ways to be attractive without wanting to be sexually appealing.
>>
>>40883843

We were talking about the specifically "sexy" custimisation. Or rather, about the option for the MC to encourage "sexy" custimisation for the students.

>>40883967
>It's actually smaller than you think.
No, its not. There is lots of ways to be more attractive/beautiful/pretty without doing that. Which is what most girls of the age 13-14 are concerned with.
>>
>>40883949
>How is that even relevant to the point?
It's relevant in the same way that >>40883843
says ALL the girls are acting the SAME way, when we haven't even seen all of the girls yet.
>>
>>40883993
Yes, it is. I don't know in what world you live in, but sexuality is a big part of looking pretty nowadays. It overlaps so much, it's almost the same thing.
>>
>>40884123
Notot sure what sort of world you live in where sexy is the average 13 year olds idea of being beautiful. Let alone tbeir only idea.
>>
>>40884069
>says ALL the girls are acting the SAME way
Obviously he's talking about the girls we met.
And he said "its getting to the point", meaning he is pointing out a developing problem before its fully realised.

I admit, I found it weird too when Calluna all of sudden went "Aren't my tits nice enough", after she had been rather shy about it before.
It makes no sense and makes the characters lose their individual voice.
If 'some' girls are like this, its a character trait. When it becomes a universal thing, then there better be a good reason for it.

And we are not in Oreia anymore.

So unless Pally intends to make the girls love life and trying to seduce their onee-samas a part of the quest to explain why they make such a big deal out of it all the time, its simply out of place.

No, I just have a lot of younger siblings and have a pretty good idea about what they are like.
In difference to the average anon, who has apparently read too many doujins about lewd lolis to realise most girls that age dont act that way in reality most of the time.
>>

Man, this derailed hard from my original point.
I don't give a shit if the girls try to make their adventurer gear better looking in whatever way Pally fancies, as long as it doesn't put them at risk.

Beyond that, I don't give a shit how lewd Pally makes his lolis.

Different anon, but, yeah, girls making themselves sexy when they want o sexually appeal to someone makes sense, and is a thing.
Thats wholly different from trying to be sexy all the time in stuations when they aren't trying to sexually appeal to someone.
And also its assuming all girls have the same idea of how to appeal to someone.
Which is fairly silly.

Pally is not going to make this a ERP quest, as surprising as that might be considering his actions sometimes.

I was mostly joking trying to lighten the mood.

Anyway.
I'm pretty sure most here can agree that Salazzar putting the students into sexy outfits would be dumb. So there is nothing to argue about.
And the others will have to trust Pally to write his characters decent.
Even if the complaint of Pallys characters universally leaning to the promiscous for no particular reasons, is definitly true.
But anyone who is bothered by that, probably should stop following because that has always been the case and won't change here.

We don't control the girls anyway, so its Pallys business how much they fuck.
And I fully expect that sort of thig to come up, just alone because its part of dealing with raising a bunch of girls.
There are likely going to be jealousies and romance stuff going on with them.
I expect at least one will have a crush on Salazzar at some point which we will have to find a way to let down gently, just because its such a horrible chlichee it basically has to happen. And makes sense, psychologically

They were talking about seducing a girl when perspective shifted to one for the other girls. Anons would not be subtle about it. Anons are never subtle about it, and it would lead to massive shitstorm or explusion.
>>
>>40884456
>I'm pretty sure most here can agree that Salazzar putting the students into sexy outfits would be dumb. So there is nothing to argue about.

Agreed.

>spoiler
well that seems a bit exaggeration resulting from justifiably slutty succubi from previous quest and from some anons being extremely sensitive at even slightest hints of characters showing sexuality. I don't get the feeling that girls in this quest are all that lewd or flirty.
As far as overload of /u/ in previous quests is concerned, that one is 100% players' fault.
>>
>>40884614
>They were talking about seducing a girl when perspective shifted to one for the other girls.
No they weren't. I was making a joke in reference to what we had talked about in the last PoJ thread in regards to if shipping the students with eachother is okay.
Don't be dumb.

>>40884614
>and it would lead to massive shitstorm or explusion
What the hell are you imagining here? How would it lead to expulsion?
You are incredibly inflating this way out of proportion.
>>
>>40884659
>No they weren't. I was making a joke in reference to what we had talked about in the last PoJ thread in regards to if shipping the students with eachother is okay. Don't be dumb.

You're expecting everyone in this quest to have play POJ. It did not looks or sound like a joke.

>What the hell are you imagining here? How would it lead to expulsion?
Breaking the rules, blatantly breaking them at that since anons are not subtle. Pretty sure that'd be punished harder than a few credit losses. Especially since anons would keep going because anons are horny idiots.
>>
>>40884649
>As far as overload of /u/
How so? All of the girls Sireyi is /u/ with came onto Sireyi with lewds first, and weren't exactly sparse with it. So it was definitly 100% Pally.
Hell, most of the time the players voted against taking the characters offers. So your claim seems pretty unsubstantile to me, or you're just butthurt about it being /u/ rather than het.
Which is incredibly hypocritical ina ddition to being dumb.

>>40884649
>resulting from justifiably slutty succubi
Well yeah, he put them in there.
I didn't mind it in those quests either, but it was undeniably there. Regardless of if it made snse or not, which isn't a discussion I care about.
>>
>>40884696
>Breaking the rules, blatantly breaking them at that
What rules would be broken there?
You think there are rules forbidding the students from having sex with eachother? Are you serious?
You think they put several undred girls aged 13-18 into a school,. lots of them being part-succubus, isolate them from others, and then think they won't fuck?
>>
>>40884722
>You think there are rules forbidding the students from having sex with eachother?

Officially there are, but the teachers turn a blind eye unless it gets out of hand.
>>

>>40884484
or do we wear something less manly?
>>
>>40884722
>You think there are rules forbidding the students from having sex with eachother? Are you serious?

Considering that set up in every institution school across most developed countries yes.

>You think they put several hundred girls aged 13-18 into a school,. lots of them being part-succubus, isolate them from others, and then think they won't fuck?

The probably do, but don't care if the students are subtle about it. Anons if they play one of the female pcs will not be subtle about it. At all. So Unless Pally railroads it for the character to use common sense, yeah there's going to be punishment involved. Probably for starting a yuri orgy in the middle of the common room knowing most anons.
>>
>>40884649
>and from some anons being extremely sensitive at even slightest hints of characters showing sexuality
I don't remember that being a thing, aside from really really early in PoJ, but even that is only tengentially related.

People got annoyed fast when other voters started obsessing about lewds and shit, but I don't remember much issues with the behaviour of the characters as written by Pally.
>>
>>40884800
Chesi is an example. Anything regarding sexuality in a not chaste manner as well.
>>
>>40884795
>Anons if they play one of the female pcs will not be subtle about it. At all.
>Probably for starting a yuri orgy in the middle of the common room knowing most anons.
You're reminding me of the haremfag from PRQ, your claim is about as silly and bereft of founding in reality.

>>40884831
>Chesi is an example.
When were people ever mad about Chesi being lewd? Ever?
I mostly remember them being pretty enthusiastic about that.
>>
>>40884703
>How so? All of the girls Sireyi is /u/ with came onto Sireyi with lewds first, and weren't exactly sparse with it. So it was definitly 100% Pally.
Not really, there was only one female character that was openly flirtatious without also being demonblooded and that was Jal. Maybe Isla would count too, if you squinted hard enough. In both cases it was players' choice to pursue that line rather than shoot it down.

Also nice projecting.
>>
>>40884831
Care to name a actual example? No one was ever bothered by Chesi being lewd.
>>
>>40884869
>You're reminding me of the haremfag from PRQ, your claim is about as silly and bereft of founding in reality.
Anons are not subtle, especially about smut. They never have been. We play a girl trying to seduce another girl or girls we're going to be about as subtle a meteor rain spell. I've seen it every quest featuring smut. So unless Pally railroads us we're going to fuck up.
>>
>>40884877
>Maybe Isla would count too, if you squinted hard enough.
She literally sneaked into our bed, anon. That does not require much squiting to consider that coming unto someone. Its pretty clear cut.

And Sofia directly told Sireyi she would marry her if she could give her a baby.

Thent here is of course our planar Twin, who also tried to seduce us several times.
>>
Personally I think the flirting, and yes, the sometimes blatently lewd stuff adds to the quest rather than detracts from it.

But I can tone it down if it is disrupting things, or spoiling the quest for players.

I like to think I'm flexible in response to player preferences, as difficult as that can be with a group of anons with different tastes and views.
>>
>>40884869
>>40884895

Uh, what? We shot down Jal constantly.
Like, all the damn time.
You also forget Elahi, we also shot down all the time.

>Also nice projecting.
What projecting?
>>
>>40884925
Tone what down? Things are fine as they are. I didn't see any lewd in the quest so far.
>>
>>40884925
Just if you PoV switch please don't let anons turn off the character's brain. Because they will otherwise to get lewds or smut.
>>
>>40884925
>Personally I think the flirting, and yes, the sometimes blatently lewd stuff adds to the quest rather than detracts from it.

I don't think anyone minds that. We have all long sicne learned to live with it, and sofar we managed to self-police it to a managable level.

Its up to you how much you offer and how much we take you up on it.
It made sense enough most of the time.
PoJ is about, well, obvious enough.
And PRQ was basically a young adult coming of age story.

Other players reacting to it like repressed little boys is disrupting it for me, thats not your fault Pally. We had this discussion now for the third, time, and sadly we have not become increasingly efficient at it.

Fair enough. Just be warned some most anons won't care about the characterization as long as they can fap.

>>40884998
>Anon, your desperate fear of the evil /u/ bogieman is getting really silly.
I honestly don't care about who rubs or sticks what into someone else's whatever. I just hate horny anons fucking the quest over to fap to smut.

>Players have played the previous two protagonists of Pallys quest significantly less promiscous than they could have.

But also far closer than they could have been too, and quite frankly sometimes it was a close thing. I've lost my faith in anions a long time ago.

>This will not change in this one.
Just taking preventative measures.
>>
>>40885053
>I had assumed we would do them in the dungeons?

Well yes, but that'll be right in the middle of the action 100% of the time, so less chance of interpersonal stuff.
>>
>>40884182
Actually, when was Calluna shy about her body, before? The only instance of Caluna being shy, that I can remember, is when we met her, after stopping her from biting/scaring/murdering the MC. But that was a different scene, with a different mood and subject/etc.

Her showing off in >>40880401 is very fitting with the situation. People have certain expectations about bards, which has been demonstrated in previous threads and this one. Considering she wanted to be a bard, it doesn't feel out of place.
>>
>>40884939
I think that's more the culture clash where sex and sex related stuff is just normal, and Chesi just not understanding that most humans don't live that way.
>>
>>40885062
Being a whiny bitch doesn't make your position look good.

Yeah sure, we had some trouble before. Seduction/Heisanfaggotry, for example. But even those would have been more annoying, its not like they would have actually made the quest any lewder, despite what some anons might have thought.

> I just hate horny anons fucking the quest over to fap to smut.
I dislike it just as much, but claiming it has been a huge problem sofar is just plain wrong.
We have succesfully self-policed sofar.
No harem for Shee, for example, despite Kae basically throwing herself at us.

I'm not saying it can't happen, but acting like players will automatically start fucking everything available is just stupid, especially since we could do that as Salazzar too. And the previous quests had all far less fucking around by the protags than Pally had enabled us to. Sometimes to his chagrin I get the feeling.

>>40885111
>Actually, when was Calluna shy about her body, before?
I'm fairly sure he refers to her reaction to Chame teasing her about it. And the whole insecurity thing she has going on with the "prettier" succubus girl.

>I make no secret of my personal tastes
Since all of us, you included, should enjoy this, I think you shouldn't have to.
You have been traditionally fair with letting us back out of your magical realm when it came up, thats all we can ask for IMO.
Especially considering that anons have been, less than gracious to you several times.
Especially early in the quests.

Was I the only one who was incredibly amused by how people accused Pally in early PRQ of shoving Ashley on us, in exact mirror to people doing the exact same accusation about Isla in PoJ?
I found the sheer irony delightful.
>>
>>40885160
Chame is a shapeshfter who cheats to have the biggest boobs and then flatshames the other girls, and I'd say that insecurity when around succubi is rather normal, since they are lewd machines. This does not prevent someone from being more self-assured at least until the sources of insecurities come back.

But that scene was not about Calluna's self-esteem or any lewd behavior, it was a joke about bards, which the others reacted accordingly to.
