Today you've been pretty busy. You visited a witch, harnessed the power of the sun in new and exciting ways, and found out your time clone is a lot more literal of a time clone than you expected. Poor Nytora. You also found out that she's on a timer, which is currently being stopped by some magic thing she's wearing. But that'll run out too and when it does she's a ticking time bomb. Though apparently nobody can tell what the explosion will be. Hopefully it won't end in the two of you fusing into some horrible monster thing. Your sanity shattered by the overlay of two conflicting minds. It sounds unpleasant. And unfortunately quite possible if the witch you hired is to be believed.

These are the things you've just finished explaining to auntie. Nytora seems super depressed. You feel fine, after having healed yourself with the power of the sun! Time to figure out what to do with yourself.

>Kuru was hanging around earlier where'd she go?
>Min was considering going to town, you should get her RSVP ASAP
>Did Mom have a shopping list for when you hit town?
>Go outside and practice your basking
>Nytora looks like she's gonna talk with Auntie. I can help... probably?

You were planning to visit that human town today. Or at least get well on your way to it. Recalling that Kuru bought the bale of seaweed stuff you're supposed to sell with Mom's teeth you decide to ask her about things she wants from town.

Mom apparently decided she doesn't want to talk right now as she's curling up in a ball to take a nap. There's something rather off about her body language when she does it but you ignore that and give her a firm poke. Which after the size difference calculations comes out to you punching her in the hip.

"Hey."

"Hm?" Mom asks in her normal whisper, craning her neck so her face turns to you. She doesn't look particularly sleepy.

"What do you needs from town?"

"Ah, hm..." she seems to consider for a minute, "I'll makes you a list of what and where to gets it. Though if you goes by anyplace not on my list feel free to asks if they have anything particularly venomous or poisonous laying around. I likes those."

"Don't forgets the candied fruit!" Auntie calls, momentarily distracted from her conversation with Nytora. The clone doesn't seem to mind though. Her eyes lit up at mention of the fruit. You get the feeling you missed something awesome at some point and no one told you.

"I'm not goings to forget the fruit," Mom calls back with as much volume as she can manage without deafening everyone in the room, she turns back to you, "Also candied fruit."

You nod, and mom starts sifting through things on shelves for something to write with, and on. You kind of wonder how she's going to write anything but you have other stuff to do. Heading out to the skeleton of Min's future shack you find that your sister is not where you left her. That's annoying.

Sniffing at the air you're inundated with the subtle smell Min has. She spent a lot of time here. it takes a bit of doing but you manage to track her most recent trail via scent and actual tracks. She may not want to build on a huge muddy paddy. You'll bring it up with her later. For now you follow her smell into the swamp.

Tracking her is simple once you have her trail, she makes no attempt to conceal it. You can't reall tell where she's going since she seems to wander a bit once she gets into one of the wilder areas nearby. Wilder in this case just meaning that mom hasn't gone out for food here recently, Kuru informed you a while back. Apparently giant monsters have a bit of an effect on the local animal life

As you move along you try to get your mind into that mindset you had earlier today. Combat basking is a funny name for a thing but you can't really call it that unless you can move while doing it. Frustratingly you just can't seem to keep your mind in a basking state while moving. Moving while basking is inimicable to the state of basking. You're not sure if it's possible to move while doing that or if you've got some kind of mental block. Either way you only manage to frustrate yourself trying.

Eventually Min's trail straightens out as she figures out where she's going. You don't see any trail markers going in this direction so you have to assume she's hunting something. Nothing presents itself on the wind, so you're not sure what yet.

You're close to catching up to Min as you pass through a fairly clear patch of ground. Sun shines all over this area. You hear a loud thrashing in the bushes and you tuck and roll out of the way just as a huge moose comes rolling out of the brush, a lizard clinging onto it for dear life as she tries to murder it from atop its back.

You found Min.

Diving into the bush after them you manage to keep up fairly easily. The moose appears to have adopted a strategy centered around going really fast with the occasional sharp jink in an attempt to get your sister off of it. The jinks actually help you to keep up, despite the speed you lost from lacking a tail. Your poor tail...

Min for her part is doing fairly well. Until the moose gets creative and does a full 360 degree spin on one of the jinks and Min is sent tumbling, grasping on to the moose only by its neck. Then, in proper lizard fashion, she manages to turn the misstep to her advantage. Sinking in her claws to keep hold her trailing hand drags across nearly the entire circumference of the moose's neck. That had to have nicked an artery. Min is off the moose now, but her antic managed to hurt it and get her a semi-decent landing. The moose is bleeding now, mostly from the neck wound. For whatever reason she chose not to claw up its back while she was riding it.

The moose let's out an irritated roar, or what you assume is a roar for moose, and lowers its head, targetting Min.

The moose charges and for a moment it seems like Min is frozen in place, forced to await the doom on hoobes coming for her. In a blur of scales she rolls away at the last second her tail whirling with the roll to slap at the mooses legs. It stumbles but doesn't fall as it immediately heels around for another run at gutting your sister. Her footing isn't as good this time and the moose clips her as it passes, sending her sprawling down to the swampgrass. A little further on the moose slows down and turns to survey its antlerwork.

It seems to be slowing down in general. That neck wound isn't doing it any favors. But that isn't doing Min much good as she forces herself to her feet, favoring the side she was hit on.

"Gets a tree behind you," you shout, "Then dodges the charge!"

Min and the moose both startle. Apparently they had not noticed you. Min looks at you out of the corner of an eye before retreating behind a tree. That's not even close to what you said!

The moose apparently decides to ignroe you since you have no intention of interrupting. It rushes the tree, avoiding a full charge and instead trying to step around it to stomp on your sister. Instead it finds that your sister shimmies up trees as well as any lizard and in short order she's circled up the thinck wood and landed on the moose's back. She takes something off her back and whips it out, its parts clicking into place.

"Tries not to die!" you call. You're so helpful.

The clicking was from a multisectioned staff, the parts of which apparently snap together if properly encouraged. Before th moose can full realize what's happened to it Min crosses the staff under the moose's neck and pulls as tight as she can. The pressure and rubbing as the mammal starts struggling further damage its already leaking circulatory system. You wait a minute as the animal slows significantly. It shakes its head once and starts lying down, no doubt the blood loss confusing it.

Min shoots you a look and indicates the moose.

Ah well, it's on its way to dead anyaway. You walk over, cock back an arm and knock the stupid moose out. Min slides clear as the moose slumps, then properly slits its throat and leaves it to bleed.

"Thanks," Min says, pulling stuff for cleaning the meat out of her bag.

"No problem. You had a sudden hankerings for meat?" you ask her.

She shakes her head. "I needs materials. Good leather, strong bones, and snacks for while I'm working. The moose has it all," she explains.

"So did you wants to come to town?" you ask, reminding her of the offer.
[1/2]
>>
>>40932299
We really should take Min up on her offer for a new tail, just to see what she does, I'm greatly curious.
>>
>>40932342
[2/2]

She blinks. "I need to takes care of this, or I would." She says sorrowfully. "I forgots about that. Tells me about it when you get back!"

You nod and help her haul the moose back to the house. For a lizard Min's size, a thing this size will be hard to haul back. You have no problem with the weight, in the sun, but it's still bulky. The moose was bigger than you, which as far as you understand, most moose are.

Min leaves you to your business as she takes off with the skin to start tanning it. A process you know litle about but apparently Min heard about somewhere. Somewhere she now plans to return to steal their equipment. Before she leaves you get her to steal some of mom's teeth to compensate whoever she's borrowing time from.

Nytora and auntie have apparently finished their talk when you return. She looks slightly better. At least she looks at you when you walk in the door, that's improvement.

You gather up your usual pack of stuff to drag to town then drop the bale of seaweed stuff on top. Then you look around for other things to bring. You've got a couple pieces of loot that might be worth something, and they go in the pile too. As you're doing your last check you notice that Nytora has been staring at you for a while. Maybe she wants to talk?

Her eyes break off quickly and she feigns disinterest as you approach.

"Hey," you greet her.

"Yo."

That's so fricking weird. You press on, looking for a subject to talk about.

"Uh, so I'm goings to the human town," you comment. "Want to come?"

She blinks at your random question and seems to consider it.

"You can't just sits around here. It's boring, you're not boring. Have you seens the town already or something?"

Her heads tilts to one side as she considers. "No..."

"Then you should come," you insist, "Sees some new stuff."

Her expression droops again as she answers, "Been seeing too many new things lately."

You try to come up with another argument but she suddenly shrugs.

"Fine, I'll come."

You get the cargo seperated into two even piles and give Nytora her share. Auntie reminds the both of you of the directions to your destination as well as the way to the place where they usually sell the fishman seaweed.

The walk out is annoyingly quiet. The sun is already pretty low, after you conferred with Auntie you decided that you'll head to the beach where you went hunting for the first time, weeks ago, and then continue from there in the morning.

The silence is becoming grating but you choose to let it continue. You think Nytora is thinking about stuff right now and you really don't want to interrupt. Though not wanting to interrupt dies an ignoble death about 20 minutes later when you realize boredom gets worse through prolonged exposure.

You're about to force a conversation when Nytora finally speaks up.

"What should I do?"

You blink and look at her to confirm she actually talked.

"What should I do?" she repeats when you look at her.

"About the time thing?" you confirm. She nods, and you consider it, "Why asks me?"

She shrugs. "I don't knows what to do. I'm not me, and I don't knows what I'd do if I was. You're supposedly a different me. You've got to thinks something close to what I would think."

That makes a kind of sense. "Whay do you know about what you want?" you ask her.

"I want my auntie," she says in a sorrowful tone. She should be careful or people will start thinking that's her catchphrase or something.

"What about the rest of your family?" you ask. That's been bugging you for a while now.

She shrugs. "Koma just sleeps all day. Rossa seems really bored but she didn't like hanging out with me and auntie so I can't helps her. Mom is really annoyed that I like auntie more than her, and I don't likes her."

"I likes Mom," you say, "She's big, and scarily sneaky."

Nytora looks confused. "Sneaky?"

"Have you not seens Mom sneak?" you ask surprised. "She moves way too quietly for something her size. She snucks up on me!"

Nytora's expression is disbelieving so you end up telling the whole story.

"How sneaky are you?" she asks.

"Pretty sneaky," you tell her, "The skin changings is helpful." You demonstrate your color change for her.

"Mine is also nice, but I like to sneaks at night so I don't need many colors," she agrees, "They don't changes."

"You didn't mentions the brothers or dad," you encourage her to continue.

She shrugs, "What about them. Dad is boring, and Sitori lefts a while ago."

"Sitori?"

"Older brother," she explains.

"Ah, my brothers are Shun, Din and Jho," you tell her, "Oldest to youngest. I wonder why the names are different."

"I asked Auntie to names me when Mom took too long, then the others did too."

"Ah, Mom named us."

The two of you nod. You discuss family a bit more. Apparently Nytora listened to Auntie and didn't help Jho out of his egg. You guess he died in there... That's kind of depressing. Her middle bro died on his first hunt.

You exchange a couple more stories. Apparently she's better about not getting hurt than you so she's not spent any time with healers. She expresses some regret for that since it apparently catalyzed your sisters to action.

"So what should I do?" she asks, returning to the original point

If we finds a good enough wizard maybe they can just makes sure that your mind gets back home when the time comes? In the meantime you can stay with us. No one will mind, and you cans keep ignoring dad. Once we solves the immediate problem of how long you have then we can make longer plans," you say, "There's no rush."

She considers that and nods. "I can do that."

"Deal with problems one at a time," you nod at her.

The two of you continue walking, sharing your respective stories. Nytora's have more sneaking up on people and stabbing them. You find out her special sword was from some group of really crude humans that made a camp on the east edge of the swamp. Auntie took her along to slaughter them. You kind of wonder what happened to them. And their copy of the sword.

Not seeking trouble AND I get to look at a chart.

The rest of the trip passes uneventfully. You consider having Nytora try and help you track down a bear that might have placed a part in a very important hallucination during your formative weeks. You decide not to. In all it's a pretty quiet trip. You arrive on the beach you camped out on weeks ago without incident.

Between you and Nytora you set up a camp fairly quickly. You get your stuff stowed away and finally remember what it was you forgot to pack. It's a relief to have finally figured it out.

You forgot provisions.

>Go find food, let Nytora guard the stuff
>You'll guard the stuff, send her to find food
>The family that murders together eats a lot more than just one lizard doing it
>Just sit it out on the beach. maybe a sea monster will show up
>>
>>40935625
>The family that murders together eats a lot more than just one lizard doing it
just bury our stuff so no one takes it.

Plus murdering is a great bonding experience.

"Food."

"What?

You turn to Nytora. "I forgot to bring food."

She blinks. "I did too."

YOu take a moment to share in the bliss of an incredibly awkward situation.

"Hunting?" you ask.

"Hunting," she agrees.

It's gotten dark in the last couple hours and after tuning your coloration both of you are nigh invisible in the lowlight. Sneaking into the nearby woods you start poking around for edibles. You show Nytora the place where the rats used to live. You think something new lives in there now but whatever it is isn't particularly numberous and thus not worth eating.

After ten minutes of poking around Nytora pokes your shoulder and points in a random direction. There're some strange lights moving through the trees very slowly. You can't make out what's making them from here.

>Stalk the lights!
>Charge the lights!
>Leave the lights alone, hunt elsewhere!

Does Nytora have nightvision?

If so ask if she can get a better view on what the lights are.

That's why she noticed them first, they're pretty damn shiny to her eyes but they're still far off.

>>

The two of you fade in and out of the ground foliage of the night time forest. The objects are interesting and you've yet to verify if glowy things are delicious. As you approach you catch more and more glimpses of the things moving around. There appear to be about a half dozen of them moving slowly through the area. They're black and round with occasional sparks of light arcing across their surface highlighting linges and entire regions of them as they move. Once or twice you spot an eye in one of the crevices that cover them. They look like nothing but floating black brains with eyes in random spots all over them.

The eyes are a late discovery and as a result Nytora, who was taking point, ends up being further back from the brains as one of them moves to investigate where she was. You end up in a tree overlooking them. As you watch you see the brains sometimes float low over some plant and extend glowing tentacles that appear to eat whatever they touch.

>Too dangerous, fall back
>Looks tasty, GET EM

You shift in position and wait for Nytora. There's no doubt she knows where you are, her eyes are better at night than yours are by a large margin.

The brain that was looking around near Nytora doubles back in your direction and you lower you body closer to the branch you're on. Nytora is already moving and you've lost track of her. Still if she's going to move to the best position you can guess where she'll be next.

A cracking sound puts an end to your strategising. You remember this cracking sound. You've heard it recently. Your body tenses as the branch drops out from beneath you and slams you into the tree. A few fibers all that still connect you to the trunk as you cling to the fallen branch. The brain shifts course again floating up to investigate.

Nytora has vanished from reality as far as you can tell. No wait that'd be a really bad thing. You really hope that isn't what happened, but you have no idea where she went.

>Be the branch. Nothing hear but us branches.
>Screw it. I AM THE LIGHT AND MIGHT OF THE SUN
>Try to sneak off before the brain reaches you

You like sneaking. You really do. When it works out you are death incarnate with nothing being able to stop you. What you're learning to hate is tree branches. They've never given you the support you needed when you really needed it, and you're kind of tired of being let down again and again.

Still, you know a busted plan when you see one. You turn on the light and leap at the brain, which freezes in place as your light pierces whatever veil it uses to hide most of its form. A single eye wedge in between two hemispheres stares at you as you leap from the tree, claws outstretched and mouth ready to bite.

You like murdering things in the face too. You're not really picky.

>That's it for today. Next time we start with a thing. Behold the quality of my brain at this very moment.
>Next thread... Probably next week. Family is flying in from out of country and as the only person without a dayjob, graveyards lol, I'm stuck chauferring
>I'll be around the rest of the night for any complaints, criticism, questions, or general commentary.

You guys are getting close to evolving... Probably should figure out how I'm going to handle that. Evolutions are ready... just need to pick one...

Thanks again for showing up guys. You're a fun bunch. Even if some of you are super busy.
