You glare at Wendy in both mounting frustration and exasperation. ...Alright, fine, it's not like she's wrong, sure. While you consider yourself an optimist about most things, you're not stupid - it'll likely take more than an appeal to his better nature for him to allow you access not only to your sempai's vault of Golden Weapons, but to your own sempai as well. You know that already. You get the concept.

But for fu--for goodness' sake, can she at least not be a complete and total jerk about it? Or is that something that comes natural to all Americans? Is it something they can actually turn off at will, even?

You shake your head again, and turn back towards the living, breathing porcelain doll that is your sempai's familiar. Its - or rather, her - large, cerulean eyes looking at you with nothing less than a child's hesitant wonder and curiosity. Suddenly making you forget that you are in fact talking to a fragment of someone's worst nightmare come to pass.

...Ngh. She's even doing that small side-to-side shifting that kids do when they get fidgety, or impatient, or both. The effect is...well, you're trying your best not to scoop her up in your arms and twirl her around, or cuddle her until she shatters, or something. ...Can she shatter to pieces if you hug her too hard? She's a balljointed doll, and you know how fragile those can be, but at the same time, you never know with familiars, and--

No. NO. Focus, Hanegawa, focus. Get a grip. Your sempai's life is on the line here. Don't cuddle the familiar, no matter how cute it is and how adorably it's looking at you.

NO. STOP. You scream inwardly at yourself, beads of sweat dripping down your neck. WENDY IS LOOKING AT YOU.

KEEP IT TOGETHER, HANEGAWA.

KEEP IT TOGETHER.

You turn away briefly to cough into a fist in lieu of screaming your head off, before fixing a smile on your face as you make to speak to Manuke. Forcing your entire body to stay where it is while you ask her the most important questions - questions about your sempai that you'll need answered if you're to save her for the second time.

"No, our Good For Nothing is not dying. Not in mortal sense." Manuke shakes her head, her auburn curls shifting underneath her cap with the movement. "But she is suffering enough that it is same as dying, only more slowly. If our Good For Nothing suffers enough, there might not be anything left of her to come back to. Would be really good for nothing then."

Another shake of her head, slower and more mournful this time. "No way to be sure how long. Everything depends on how strong our Good For Nothing wants to remember. But...but sooner she is getting her sword, the better."

"Other way to save Good For Nothing..." It's here that the familiar glances warily about, as if making sure she isn't being watched. "Manuke is...Manuke is not sure. Bringing her sword to her should work, but...perhaps..."

She looks back at you, wringing her dainty porcelain fingers. "If...if knowing someone who can make a direct appeal to the Blessed Lady, a priestess or seer, then maybe...maybe she can intervene on Good for Nothing's behalf..."

What? The Blessed Lady? And a seer...?

Manuke nods furiously. "Someone who can scry into the Akashic Realm, or walk in its tides without fear of corruption." She turns towards Wendy, and somehow you sense a brief, unspoken moment of understanding pass between the both of them. "The Blessed Lady is really angry with our Good For Nothing, but if priestess can plead and bargain with her, she can save our Good For Nothing..."

Wendy, apropos of completely nothing, starts to chuckle. It's a miserable sound, completely lacking of her earlier venom - the sound of someone who can only laugh at how horribly life had taken a shi--a crap on them. When she finally speaks, it's with a tone that you've heard countless times from Chiaki herself - the tone of someone also struggling to hold back an ugly temper with humor. Or sarcasm. "...Jesus. It just keeps getting better and better, doesn't it?"

You open your mouth to react when a soft, four-tone chime comes over the Officio's PA system, heralding an announcement. It's usually only just audible in the more populated, bustling floors - but in the rather abandoned Culexus floor, it's almost deafening as it echoes through the empty halls.

"Calling for Instructor Hanegawa Midori-san, Instructor Hanegawa Midori-san." The clear, unhurried voice of the announcer is smooth, almost syrup-like in its dulcet tones. You flush a faint crimson as you realize that it's you being paged. "Rank Leader Karasawa Enishi-san requires your presence at Callidus Training Hall A. Please stop by at your soonest convenience."

Crap. Today's training...! You were hoping Enishi would at least be considerate enough, but...! You turn back towards Wendy and Manuke, the former shrugging at your gaze and the latter looking up at you with quiet concern.

"Looks like your day job's calling, Green." Wendy smirks, although it's a half-hearted one. ...The news that Manuke brought clearly having taken the wind out of her sails. "Still can't believe you're an instructor here. What do you teach the newbies, huh? Hide in the corner with some ice cream the moment they get into hostile territory?"

How do you react?

voting should be over by now so lets discuss how to go about this

if we decide to smuggle in the GW the best plan i can come up with is

1)find out where sayaka keeps the vault keycard
2)steal the vault card from sayaka (she is distracted because of kyoko and the situation in general)
3)ask kyuubey to visit chiaki once more (we need permission to avoid triggering an alarm)
4)Get the gun from the vault (callidus bullshit so no one sees us doing it)
5)have the precure girls open the hole in the wall
6)put the GW through the hole (they don't notice because of callidus bullshit)
7)slip the keycard back into sayakas desk
8)pretend chiaki got the GW from her shield

could that work or am i missing something obvious?

You make it sound like it's an easy task. I am sure that the vault is guarded, if not by megucas, by alarms at least (that are not affected by callidus magic). Still, very good point about the shield. If we made it, we can use that as an excuse.

during the ruri arc that yakuza guy took out the security cameras with callidus magic. midori + wendy should be able to manage something on that front.

the part i really worry about is stealing from sayaka, if she has the card on her body there is virtually no way to get it.
>>
>>41006643
The Vault keycard reader may be more than just a keycard reader, given the care that QB takes in security.

I still think that convincing QB that given our experience in the Siberian double Barrier, using the Golden DEagle as a focus to reassemble Chiaki's psyche is the better option.

Enlist Kyouko for Sayaka body access.
>>
>>41006904
Maybe if we let Kyouko in on it, we could manipulate her into infiltrating the vault and stealing the deagle for us on the pretext of inspecting the golden weapons/making sure that none of them are missing. Kyouko is enough of a dupe for it to work, and Sayaka would be more likely to trust her than us.
>>

>I still think that convincing QB that given our experience in the Siberian double Barrier, using the Golden DEagle as a focus to reassemble Chiaki's psyche is the better option.

sounds good to me. probably has a much better chance of success than the smuggling.

And what reason does Kyouko has to the eyes of Kyuubey to inspect the desert eagle? She is not an expert on the subject. The most likely answer would be a "thanks for the offering, but you don't have enough knowledge about the subject, and you pit yourself in danger simply by touching it"
>>
>>41006997
She's most likely to trust us/trust Chiaki. Even if she is smart, that doesn't mean she spends a lot of time thinking about who might be lying to her.

But anon, if Wendy goes crazy while holding the Golden DEagle, then she's more liable to kill Midori and abscond with the other weapons than bring it to Chiaki, going against the whole purpose of getting the DEagle in the first place.
And even if Midori wins in the fight against Wendy with a Golden Weapon, we're in the same position we were in originally, not being able to get the DEagle to Chiaki past the security and built-in safety systems of Regalia.

You ignore Wendy's baiting - tired and half-hearted as it is - as you decide to attend the training. It's...gah, as much as you want to stay here and try to figure out a way to get your sempai normal again, going AWOL now - especially during your first week as an Instructor - is going to attract the wrong kind of attention. People are going to start asking questions, and you're not really sure you can lie to someone's face about Chiaki's condition if they asked you right in your face. It's not like you can't, of course, but...well, you're sure skiving off on your duties isn't going to help your sempai any.

Wendy shrugs again as you tell her about your decision. "...Not a bad idea. We can't really do anything right now - nothing important, anyway - and people are gonna get suspicious when they see you goofing off. Just try to get out of it as early as you can, so we can keep figurin' out what to do, and--" She blinks at you, before frowning. "The fuck IS IT with you, Green? Why the fuck do you stare so much?"

...No, it's just that...You shake your head, a small smile curling your lips. You were just getting used to her being a contrarian jerk about everything that you were expecting her vulgar disapproval about your decision.

"Yeah? What makes you think I like it?" Wendy growls. "I just said it's not a bad idea, but that doesn't mean I approve or anything. Besides, like I said, we can't do squat right now, not with it being the start of the day and there being too many witnesses around." She huffs, here. "So all you're getting is my agreement, Green. Don't let it get into your fucking head, alright?"

Right. You force yourself not to grin. ...You think you're starting to understand the American, now. Or at least, how she thinks anyway.

[1/2]
>>
>>41007546
Ufff, maybe you're right. But we have little options here. Also, is Manuke who proposed giving the desert eagle here
>>
>>41007546
While it's true that Midori has been revealed to be a meatpuppet for Pinky, waiting for Faust to ASSUME DIRECT CONTROL, the idea of giving Chiaki her Golden DEagle was suggested by Manuke, who is not under Pinky's control.

There's no indication that Chiaki is making any progress in controlling her memories, and the previous time it happened, she needed outside help otherwise the Ribbon-Homu would have taken control.
>>
>>41007595

Right. You force yourself not to grin. ...You think you're starting to understand the American, now. Or at least, how she thinks anyway.

Glancing down at Manuke as you straighten up, it's here that an idea strikes you. One that, as soon as you turn towards Wendy to suggest it, you realize that she's already thought of the same exact thing. At the same exact moment.

"...Yeah, sure. I can try scoping out the vault. Shouldn't be too hard." Another shrug. "Last time I checked it only had half a dozen cameras aimed at it and a triple-authentication system with a keycard access. Don't know if the mutant cat bastard changed it up recently, so it'll be handy to check again."

ALright. That's good. ...Wait, she checked? But she's not supposed to--

"Callidus, remember?" It's Wendy's turn to surpress a shit-eating grin this time. "Wasn't like I was going to break into it or anything, though. Just passed it while I was running errands for Mami. Figured, why not see what the cat bastard's using to stop any half-competent Callidus from stealing the world's most dangerous shit since the fucking atom bomb?" Another smirk, followed by yet another shrug. "Didn't exactly fill me with an overwhelming sense of safety, but hey, whatever works. This isn't my fucking Officio."

...Right. You narrow your eyes at your fellow Callidus warily. Well. She's only to scope the vault out. Nothing else. Is that clear?

For a moment, Wendy's smirk turned ugly, but it's smoothed out quickly with her trademark expression of half-asleep apathy. "...You think you can give me fucking orders, Green? You're just a goddamn aide, same as me."

Yeah, but you're the aide to the Warmaster, you counter with a smile as you cross your arms underneath your chest. That counts for something.

"No it fucking doesn't--" The American starts to spit out, before suddenly cutting herself off and turning away from you. You catch a hint of her cheeks reddening. "...Fine. Sure. Just scoping it out. Nothing else. Loud and fucking clear, Green."

Alright. Okay. Just so you're clear then. You nod at her, before looking back down at Manuke. Suddenly at a loss as to what to do with your sempai's familiar.

Like, do you take her with you, or...?

"O-oh, no, Manuke has to return to the Good For Nothing. Cannot stay here for too long." The doll shakes her head, and for the first time you see her smile. It's a strange smile, made eerie by the fact that her lips are painted to stretch the entire width of her face - but it's a smile nonetheless. "Sisters will miss Manuke. Cannot have that." She pauses for a moment, before nodding, as if making a decision. "B-but will step out again to tell about how Good For Nothing is doing...!"

Oh. Well. That's handy. You grin here and pat her on the head, in an attempt to show your appreciation. The doll in turn seems to like it, her too-bright eyes closing briefly in seeming contentment.

"Alright, enough of the fucking Kodak moment." Wendy clears her throat. "Get your ass in gear, Miss Callidus Instructor, or you're gonna have Karasawa shrieking your name over the PA system herself. She doesn't take kindly to being made to wait, you know."

Yeah, yeah. As you make to leave, you make sure you have Wendy's phone number on your cellphone, and yours on hers. This way, you'll be able to coordinate with each other in case something unexpected happened. ...Of course, she gave another wisecrack about you soon sending her your nude pics, which you only met with rolled eyes and a hurried goodbye as you finally set off, out of the Culexus floor and to the Callidus training hall.

[3/4]
>>
>>41007658

Your sempai gets with some really strange types, you think on your way there. Of course, you're not exactly normal yourself, what with your idea of awkward flirting being something like drawing a multi-volume porn manga series with them as the stoic, smoldering deuteragonist, but...

...Wait. Wait a goddamn minute.

Was...was Wendy flirting with you? Back there?

...No. No, that's impossible. She can't...no.

You have Chiaki. You have your sempai. And besides, with their history...

You shake your head furiously as you feel your cheeks heat up.

Frigging...no, fucking Americans...! She's probably doing this to get back at your sempai somehow...! The NERVE of her!

You continue steaming about this latest revelation about your sempai's ex - right up until you stop in front of the Callidus Training Hall you've been scheduled to hold a training class in. From behind the sliding wooden door, you can hear the class not only just starting, but already underway. And from the way Enishi is shrieking instructions...well.

Suffice to say, this is going to be just like middle school again. With you stumbling into a full classroom, completely late, with nothing to show for your tardiness but your own clumsiness with punctuality. And about to catch a hell of a lot of flak for it.

How do you make your way into your own training class?

You decide to do this professionally. If there's anything you gleaned from the Ninth's own Callidus Rank Leader upon your first meeting, it's two things: one, is that she could stand to skip a few meals here and there, or at least cut down on the stress-eating - and two, that your usual standby of being meek and apologetic isn't going to fly. Not with her. She's too sharp, too experienced, to fall for something like that.

And besides, this IS your class, after all. Do you really want to look like a big blob of quivering jelly in front of THEM, of all people? You, who interact with the weirdest people on a daily basis, up to and including a grinning pink-haired goddess with as many anger issues as she does teeth? You, who chewed out the Betrayer and slapped her back into sobriety? You, who saved the Warmaster - and the woman you love - not just once, but twice? Do YOU want to be seen as weak?

Of course not! You force yourself to shout inwardly, despite the sensation of your own intestines tying themselves into knots inside your stomach. One hand immediately darting inside your jacket, pulling out a handkerchief to mop up the cold sweat on the back of your neck.

...Egh. Truth be told you don't really like speaking in public. You don't like being IN public, period. All the interviews you've granted as Green Green have always been through email and chat programs, and your book signings have always been done with a lookalike wearing shades and a jacket so thick you could call it a comforter.

Sure, you can act and lie well enough to be of some use as an actual Callidus, but your audience rarely numbered more than a handful, and you were usually gone before they realized what was happening. There was also magic to smoothen things over, to make your presentation indistinguishable from the real thing, helping you pull the hood over your victims' eyes.

[1/2]
>>
>>41008803

Instead of a handful, you have thirty students, all in all, there until the end of the class. And instead of magic - which no doubt if you used would be called on immediately by some of the more astute newbies, no less - all you have is your easily-deflatable sense of confidence and an uncanny knack of figuring out just what you need to say or do to turn things to your favor.

But yeah. You know what to do. And you're going to do it.

Gritting your teeth, your entire body tensing at the brazen act of self-deception that you're about to commit - you slide the wooden door back and step over the threshold in one smooth movement. At the same time, you set a firm expression of irritated impatience onto your face - an expression consisting of slightly-narrowed eyes, a quietly furrowed brow, and lips pressed thin enough to form a straight line. The expression of someone who'd been made tardy by completely infuriating reasons, reasons that will never be uttered by anyone else in their presence, lest they tempt that someone's wrath.

And it...it actually works, at least with your students. All activity inside the training hall stops dead in its tracks - and from how your students are all paired off and clutching blunt knives in their hands, Enishi had started them off with close combat drills. ...Not exactly your lesson plan for the day, there - you were looking forward to sitting them down and teaching them the basics of social engineering, as part of every Callidus' toolbox. Still, knife-wielding lessons are just as important, you suppose...

But yes, before you get distracted even further: your ploy works well enough that your students immediately stand at attention and bow towards you as one, greeting you the usual morning greeting in perfect unison. You return the gesture, inclining your head a fraction and offering a curt, yet heartfel apology for your tardiness. They are YOUR students after all, and they're the ones who need you the most. Not--

But yes, before you get distracted even further: your ploy works well enough that your students immediately stand at attention and bow towards you as one, greeting you the usual morning greeting in perfect unison. You return the gesture, inclining your head a fraction and offering a hurried, yet patient apoloogy for your tardiness. They are YOUR students after all, and they're the ones who need you the most. Not--

"I see you finally found the time to join us, Hanegawa-san." Comes the slow, low voice behind you, one made smooth not just with practice and study but also with a lineage used to telling people what to do. You turn around to face Karasawa Enishi, the raven-haired Callidus Rank Leader of the Ninth. Her usually placid features twisted into a scowl.

"How very considerate of you. Maybe next time I'll pop on over to your quarters specifically and wake you up myself in time for class, that way you'll actually be punctual for a change."

In her voice, you could hear the ragged edge of a hoarse throat - it seems she'd been shouting ever since the class started.

How do you respond?

[]Smile apologetically. "My bad, something came up. I'm here now, though. Can you catch me up on what's been done already?"
[]Nod gravely. "Sorry. Aide business. I was going to call as soon as I got your page, but I thought it'd be best to just make my way here as fast as I can."

You nod gravely, while wincing inwardly. Well, as far as reprimands went, this was kind of tame, but the fact that you were getting it still stung. And you highly doubt the Karasawa heiress would actually take time off of her own schedule to give you a morning call. You'd heard enough about her needing to take hours just getting ready for breakfast. Something about brushing that enormous amount of straight black hair a thousand times after being carefully and painstakingly washed strand by strand, or something. But honestly it's probably because she liked to sleep in a lot. You'd put money down on that, definitely.

Anyway. You formally apologize to the Callidus Rank Leader, and use the same formal voice to talk vaguely about what got you help up. Namely, aide-to-the-Warmaster business. You also tell her that you thought about calling her as soon as you heard her page over the PA system, but you decided to head on over to the training hall as fast as you can instead.

This seems to go over well with Enishi, one eyebrow quirking into her impressively-severe fringe. "Yes, well, I'll give you credit for not trying to simper or moan your way out of accountability, Hanegawa." You frown and make to protest here, when she raises a perfectly-manicured hand to stop you. "I didn't say you were going to. It was simply what any other Callidus would have done in your place, Hanegawa, and I was simply expecting it. But you didn't. So, credit where it's deserved."

Ah. That's...alright, you understand now. In any case, you'll do your best to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[1/2]
>>
>>41010436

The raven-haired Karasawa nods. "Apology accepted. I trust you to keep your word, Hanegawa." It's here that she smiles. "One can only coast so far with the Warmaster's favor, after all. Again, I'm not implying that you are, just that if you keep this up, the public perception will grow to suspect that you were appointed this task simply because our Warmaster favors you."

You try to fight your body's natural reaction to blush at this. Of...of course, you tell her. You know that most of all. You want to be important to this Officio, not just as its Warmaster's...companion, but also a more than capable Callidus in her own right.

"Very well. Just making sure." Enishi smiles again, before gesturing towards the sparring Callidus neophytes. "Now, as far as the class goes, you didn't really miss much. I started them off on close combat, get them used to the idea of using a knife. I'm please to report that they're doing quite well for neophytes." A chuckle. "No injuries so far, thank goodness, so we won't need to call in an apothecary just yet."

That's...yeah, that's pretty good. You can even see from here that your students are in fact having fun trying to stab each other to death with blunt knives. Some of them are even trying to do tricks with the knives, with one of them in particular displaying a flair with a butterfly knife and the flourishing movements it requires for the blade to be flipped out.

"We'll go with your lesson plan as soon as the period ends, of course." Enishi speaks up beside you, giving an answer to your own unspoken query. "I am looking forward to learning how the Tenth did things, Callidus-wise. I hear they can be very cutthroat if they want to."

[2/3]
>>
>>41010463

Just like every other Officio then? You resist taking the bait here, nodding in silence as you kept watch on your students instead. The flurry of activity briefly making you forget about the huge cloud hanging over your head - and most likely the rest of the known world, what with Pinky's promise.

And then, apropos of nothing, with her voice low enough that you nearly didn't catch it--

"Is the Warmaster dying, Hanegawa?" Enishi asks, not looking at you, instead staring straight ahead. Her voice completely level, with no hint of glee or deception.

...What. WHAT?

How could she know? It hasn't even been this morning since...!

How do you react?

I can also provide my own speculations, but I'm not exactly within the "inner circle", so to speak, so my knowledge is suspect.

Plus, there's always deculture's ask.fm (though I'm afraid you'll need to get an ask.fm account to actually ask questions): http://ask.fm/Deculture

Decu said something on his ask.fm a while back about Chiaki needing to starting eating witch or meguca flesh, because Maerous.

Do you think Sayaka would be up for helping with that? She's supposed to have an insane healing factor, after all.

>(though I'm afraid you'll need to get an ask.fm account to actually ask questions)
Yeah, I just hate having to make accounts solely for MGNQ. Especially now that Decu got his hitbox banned again and the account I made for that is just going to rot.

"You what??! Are you serious!?! And you want me to what??!! NO!!! Don't come closer, you fucking abomination!! Touch me, and I kill you were you stand!!"

Fortunately, I believe his hitbox ban was only for 24 hours. Though, well, he might always get banned again...

I really don't think she'd be okay with it. Not after what she's seen.

Her meat's probably too tough, anyway.

Hrm, what exactly constitutes "flesh"? Does it only include blood, skin tissue, muscle tissue, internal organs, and fat?

Because if the definition can be expanded (to, say, female ejaculate), then a Red x Blue x Chiaki threesome sounds like a viable way to prevent Witching Out.

That sounds like a hell of a stretch, though. There's no way it's that easy.
>>
>>41011513
True, but worth considering.

All else fails, Chiaki could probably get Midori to give up her flesh if she asked very, very nicely.
>>
>>41011294
How does Kharn get by, then?
Also, Chiaki could just dive into the Akashic realm to hunt, since she's probably queen-bitch of the place now.

You mean, liposuction?

can't she just ask coobs or kharn for advice? both kharn and vintage are maerorus so the 9th should have some experience with this.

I don't think the whole Flesh of Fallen Angels craving has any other issues besides being freaking cannibalism. It's not going to drive you any crazier than you were to go with eating soylent greengreen.

It wasn't so much 'forcing' as it was 'your arm and leg are now snakes that are trying to eat your face". Fear is her specialty.

I feel like that picture will just one day end up with Midori killing the mood by pulling out a giant trout out of nowhere and embarrassedely asking Chiaki if she's ready

You look at your girlfriend like she's gone insane. Who in the goddamn hell told her you were into *THAT*?

"I-I, Ms. Sakura said you were really into this sort of thing, and I...! Oh..." Realization dawns on her face, and the crushing force of embarrassment sends her sinking into the bed's covers.

...you were going to have to talk to your "best friend" about this. Possibly with the Golden Deagle.

I'll add that this is a bit of a questionable canon territory.

Archival was the Maerorus guy, and he would insist that they cleanse their soul gems as anyone else, with one Seed for the whole deal. When I've been trying to make "corruption" a bit less of a buzzword in the setting, I asked Decu about this, and he said they eat witch flesh instead. Arch then went as far as pming me about that after I've asked Decu.

Now decu has restated that, so who the fuck knows, but our working version is that it's more like a really strong urge right now (enough to screw with emotional state, hence add grief).

The story of Code Geass is prettty good, but the characters are a bit... childish in their attitudes (at least for me)

The story in Code Geass is fucking orange, which is why it's so fun.
