You do some quick stretches with the time you have.
The outfit that Kyla put together moves pretty well, and it covers just about everything from the Butcher. Not to mention the fact that it’s stylish as hell.

Maybe you’ll stick with this. But then again, it probably isn't up to you. And at least a small part of you is curious as to what she’ll come up with if you show her something else…

Star Driver would be funny…

You shake off that train of thought. Now is not the time to think of outfits. Now is the time to focus.

You take a breath and hold it, letting it out as you hear the door open.

You look to your front door, but it’s still closed. Your eyes travel around your apartment, eventually finding that your bathroom door is the one that opened.

It’s not going to be a different door every time, is it?

You shrug and step through. You’re met with the same scene as last night, the grated floors, the torches, the oil…

Most of the cast from last night’s little show is still here, with some replacements.

“Excellent” One of the people here says. “Now that everyone is here, I have a proposal for you all”

You look around at the reactions. The fighting hasn’t started yet, but that’s just temporary.

“Like anyone here wants to hear your shit” Stonehand says.
“That’s cute” The original speaker replies. “You think I’m giving you a choice”

The person speaking taps their cane on the ground, and you fly up to the ceiling. You lay on your back on the ceiling, held there by some invisible, unknown force.

No… not an unknown force. That person must be The Tyrant, which makes that the Cane. They reversed and increased gravity…

“Now that everyone is comfortable, I’ll begin” They say.

>[1/2]
>>
“I am looking for aid in a little… venture” The Tyrant says.
“What kind of venture?” The Scholar asks.

“The elimination of The Glutton and his lackies” The Tyrant says. “The methods of that family cannot and should not be tolerated. I propose a ceasefire until such a time as they are removed”

“And who’s going to remove you?” Stonehand asks.

The Tyrant ignores Stonehand “What say you to that?” They ask.

Well hopefully this isn't a flat agreement and just disposition to the deal.
>>
“That doesn’t sound so bad” You say.

The Tyrant looks up, like they had somehow forgotten you were there.

“Ahh… Sorry” They say. “I’m afraid this deal doesn’t extend to you. Even more so than The Glutton; you must die if we are to complete our objective”
“And just what objective is that?” You ask.

“The Golden Age must begin again” They say. “If you die, we will have out wish without ever touching the moon. Oh Diener”

A person next to the Tyrant steps forward. “Yes?”
“Kill him” The Tyrant says.

The person bows, and draws back a spear…

They must be The Traveller… which means that you are very much in range of that spear.

Okay. You can do this. You enter fast time, and begin accelerating.

You’re unsure of the principle behind it, but gravity loses a lot of its oomph as you move more quickly through time.

A little more…

Just a bit… Aaaand you can move now.

You roll to the side and stand up on the ceiling, running at your accelerated speed towards The Tyrant.

According to Kyla, if you can remove the Cane’s tip from the ground the effect will be lost. Then… well, then you find out if anyone here is actually a friend…

You speed time further as you approach The Tyrant, so you can jump up to the floor. You leap, and exit fast-time as you come to them, clotheslining them with your running start.

The gravity in the Arena returns to normal, but now you have another problem. The Tyrant seems to be the leader of their crew, and their crew looks none too happy that you just attacked them…

The Berserker punches you. It’s not thrown. He knows what he’s doing.

Unfortunately for him, so do you. You sweep his fist aside and close in for a knee to the gut. He catches your knee and pushes you back.

You enter fast time and close right back in, getting your damn knee in his gut whether he likes it or not.

Before you can follow up, something catches your eye. A glimmer of something… You dodge. Just in time for a spear to enter the space where your head was a moment ago.

You turn to see The Traveller winding up another thrust. With The Berserker down for at least a moment, you turn your attention there.

You take one step, and then another, but your third does something unexpected… You begin to float…

You turn your head to see that The Tyrant has recovered, and gotten their Cane back on the ground.

And The Berserker is back up…

Oh dear.

The Berserker leaps in your direction. Unhindered by gravity, he slams his fist into your stomach as you struggle to turn.

You fly up into the ceiling, smacking your back off of it painfully.

The Berserker flies towards you again, ready to strike.

And then a big, stone fist gets driven straight into his face.

“Oh me, oh my” Stonehand says. “I don’t recall ever saying you could go after MY prey, dear Tyrant”
“I don’t recall ever needing your permission, dear Creator” The Tyrant says.

Stonehand’s mask smiles. “Then maybe I should teach you some manners” She says. “As well as what happens when you mess with things that don’t belong to you”

Stonehand makes a beeline for The Tyrant, forcing them back, and making them disconnect their cane with the ground.

Back under normal gravity, you land on your feet and observe your surroundings.

With their boss under attack, Pointy-end and Madbro have diverted their attention to Stonehand.

“I don’t recall being anyone’s prey” You say.

The chain from last night is wrapped around your arm, so you unravel it and snare one of Madbro’s legs.

You give it a tug, and he falls over. Then you jump on him. He rolls over and guards himself, but the advantage is obviously yours.

Pointyend looks between Madbro and The Tyrant, conflicted as to which one they should help. But The Butcher solves that problem for them, joining the fray and coming within inches of taking off one of Pointyend’s limbs.

A part of you is curious as to what The other three are doing, but Madbro isn't an opponent that leaves many openings to look around.

He finds his feet and shakes the chain off his leg, taking up his stance. He knows that he can’t make it to The Tyrant with you here.

Well come at me. It’s an even fight now. No more gravity shit. No more spears out of fucking nowhere.

You set yourself and prepare for Madbro’s assault.

He comes at you (like the bro that he is) with a sideways snapping kick aimed at your face. You block with your forearm, and counter with a straight punch.

He deflects your punch and counters with one of his own.

The two of you go back and forth, neither one gaining or losing ground. But he is getting frustrated.

Which, as it turns out, is a bad thing.

His strikes brim with red energy, and hit a lot harder than they used to. You quickly find yourself on the back foot, frantically blocking and dodging just to make sure none of those touch somewhere important.

He pushes you further from the fray, and just when it looks like he’s got you…

“Forgetting someone?” One of the other champions asks.
“Wha-“ He begins, before his body is engulfed in a pillar of flame.

The fire dies down after a moment, and Madbro is relatively unharmed. You turn to see The Traitor, in their pink magical girl getup, and The Smith.

“Not enough?” The Traitor says.

The oil below the floor stirs and shoots upward. Madbro manages to dodge it, but he quickly finds himself on the defensive as geysers of oil erupt from the floor everywhere he steps.

The Traitor holds a ball of fire in their hand, waiting for the moment when Madbro gets wet…

You might want to avoid going near The Berserker for now…

You give The Traitor a thumbs up, and run off to where Stonehand is.

You’d think that someone with as much crushing force behind them as Stonehand would make short work of The Tyrant, but they seem to be equally matched.

That’s not to say that Stonehand isn't giving it their all, but their punches are being met by some sort of… barrier.

It’s not without effort on The Tyrant’s side, as it seems like all of their focus is being put into this barrier.

Alright, all you guys are sucking at rolls, its time for me to step back in.
>>
You enter fast time and close the gap, going in for your hit when The Tyrant’s focus is on Stonehand.

“Shit” The Tyrant says.

Yeah, shit is right. You land a punch straight to their gut, and Stonehand follows up with a backhand to their face.

The Tyrant stumbles back, and uses their Cane to steady themselves.

Suddenly, you feel very heavy. Very, VERY heavy. The ground beneath you buckles under the sudden increase in weight. You look over to Stonehand, and find her struggling under it as well.

“Well don’t the two of you make a cute couple?” The Tyrant says. “I think I’ll let you spend an eternity trapped here”

The grated floor wrenches and buckles, sending you and Stonehand back into the oil.

Not this again…

>[1/2]
>>
Can we speed ourselves up fast enough to run on water or in this case oil.
>>
As you fall, you hear several cracks. Gunshots?

It doesn’t matter now. You won’t be making it back up. And even if you do, covered in oil is not a good state to be in when one finds themselves in a room full of torches.

Stonehand swims down to you, instead of surfacing. Is she going to save you?

She grabs you around the waist with her gloved hand, and lifts your mask ever so slightly. Then she kisses you…

That’s not what you were expecting… It’s also not what you were hoping for. Less mouth to mouth, more body-to-surface.

She pulls away, and you could swear that you can see her smiling under her mask. She mouths the word ‘Sorry’, and then grabs your head with her stone hand…

No, wait. No, nononononono

-

Your view gets transferred back to the surface. Now it’s The Scholar fighting The Tyrant, using various firearms in an attempt to penetrate that barrier. The Butcher and Pointyend are still stuck in a stalemate, and Madbro is doing a pretty good job dodging the oil so far…

You don’t see Stonehand. She must still be underneath.

The problem is that without an alliance you can be outnumbered in every fight you go in. Also you don't kill them in an alliance, everyone else surrenders and one goes and makes a wish for the team.
>>
>>41039780
This guy has it.
>>
>>41039780

Yeah man, in theory is nice and all, but it's impossible to make all wishes come true (at least I'll be pissed if we are killing these people pointlesly while we could all ally and make an all encompassing wish....we should ask Kyla about it jus to be sure) and the nature of our wish dictates that nobody will have a chance to do one again, I don't think an aliance with us will be very popular
>>
>>41039849
The tyrant was talking about killing off glutton and remaking the golden age, so maybe glutton's team has a similar objective of stoping the golden age from happening as us.
>>
>>41039907

I don't know man, if that was the case Kyla would know about it. The way she talked to us made me believe that she was the only one that wanted to end the games.
Each person here propably has a wish as a motivation, a wish they are willing to kill for. So I honestly think it will be very hard to convince these people to give up on their wishes and surrender to us accepting that they will never ever have this chance again.
>>
Well, it worked on The Witch last time…

You respawn above The Tyrant, landing fist first on the top of their head. Or you intend to, but you’re stopped by that damn barrier.

“You came back?” They ask. “Of course you came back. I forgot that you’re the kind of vermin that needs to be squashed twice”
“AHEM” The scholar says.

You and The Tyrant both look at them, and see the rpg in their hand…

“God damn it” The Tyrant says.

You slow yourself right down. You have to, if you want to survive the oncoming blast.

By your viewpoint, the whole thing happens in a flash. The firing, the explosion, everything.

The Tyrant blocks most of it with their barrier, but they don’t come out unscathed. You feel a few pieces of shrapnel bounce off of you, and the slight heat from the explosion pass by without doing much damage.

You release slow time, and land on your feet…

In your apartment…

Well alright then. That’s not jarring at all.

>[1/2]

>>41039989
Scholar is the kind of character that every time we look back he has a bigger gun.

You sit down on your couch and catch your breath.

“Why would they do anything like that?” She asks. “I thought The Creator wanted you dead”
“She does” You say. “I think she wants to keep me for herself. She specifically told The Tyrant that I was ‘her prey’”
“Interesting” Kyla says. “So not an enemy, as long as other people are trying to kill you”

“So if I can avoid being alone with them, I should be fine… hopefully” You say.
“You never know” She says. “Maybe they’ll be open to an alliance if you tell them you’ll let them kill you in the end”
“That doesn’t sound like a good deal” You say. “That is actually the opposite of a good deal”

Man, Saif, 3 days and you're already pretty used to dying.
>>
>>41040545
Stonehand could not save us, so she at least killed us swifly. I liked it....aaaaand we are talking about our own death again, yeah, that`s not a healthy thing to get used to.
>>
>>41040489
No, that`s actually a great deal! We have 2 lifes after all.

“Just remember to keep your options open” She says. “Moving on, what about the scholar?”
“Couldn’t see them for most of the fighting” You say. “Not really sure where they went, but when they finally showed up they had no problem putting me in harm’s way”
“How so?” Kyla asks.

“They fired an RPG at The Tyrant, while I was pretty much right next to them” You say.
“You came out alright” She says.
“I slowed myself down” You say. “The problem is that I doubt they knew I could do that”

“Most mages have ways to get themselves out of trouble” She says. “They probably figured you had an ace up your sleeve”
“The only ace I had up my sleeve got used up when Stonehand crushed my damn head!” You say.

“Saif, calm down” Kyla says.
“That never works!” You say. “Telling someone to calm down only makes them realize that they aren’t calm!”
“Sit down” She says.

Sit? Fuck, you never even realized you’d stood up…

You sit back down.
“Is there any good news?” She asks.
You take a deep breath. “I dunno… The Traitor seems friendly enough” You say. “She… I think it’s a she… oh god, in that outfit I HOPE it’s a she… helped me out against the Berserker, her and The Smith”

“It might be worth it to talk to them alone” Kyla says.
“Maybe” You say. “But for now, I think I need to sleep”
“You’re not going to bed in that state” Kyla says. “Stay up a while. I think there’s some things we need to talk about”

“Fine” You say.
“Okay, sit down there” She says, pointing to the ground in front of the couch.
“But I’m comfy here” You say.
“You’ll be comfier there” She says. “Trust me”

You grumble and slide off the couch, sitting in front of it as Kyla instructed.

“There’s… something I haven’t told you” Kyla says.
“I’m sure there’s lots of things I don’t know” You say. “But shoot”

You feel Kyla’s hands press into your shoulders, and she begins to knead.

“Oh… okay, yeah” You say. “Let’s do that. That’s gooood”
“Isn't it?” She asks. “When I was a girl, my skills were sought after by the king himself”
“I can see wh-wait… when you were a girl?” You ask. “You mean you haven’t always been a goddess?”
“No…” She says.

“So how did it happen?” You ask.
“I was… a champion. Like you” She says. “I wished for my divinity”
“I see…” You say. “Is that… is that what you wanted to talk about?”

“No” She says. “Give me a minute… I need to think about how to say this…”

She's not our mom right?

Why did you jump to that conclusion

It is what I feared most.

I hope so, that would explain a lit, including our powers

It would.

After a few minutes of silence, Kyla speaks again.

“Gods aren’t all born that way” She says. “They’re born from combined thoughts, given form by the wellspring. They all draw the energy to keep their physical forms from the wellspring”
“But you didn’t come from there” You say.

“No I did not” She says. “I was a priestess, and betrothed to the King”
“Sounds sweet” You say.
“It was” She says. “Until this happened… The Blood Moon. My betrothed died, and I wished for my divinity to keep the Gods away from my home”
“So what does this all have to do with me?” You ask.

“Remember when you asked why I couldn’t pop back into divine form and manifest clothes?” She asks.
“Yeah” You say.
“I… can’t” She says. “Without a connection to the wellspring, each Blood Moon drains me of power that I can’t get back…”
“Oh…” You say.
“To make your mask, I used everything I had left” She says. “I barely had enough to return to human form”
“So what happens if I lose?” You ask.
“I’ll never be able to keep this up” She says. “Even this body is taxing. I’ll last a year, maybe two. But that’s it”

“And without the Guardian, the Golden Age begins again” You say.
“It does” She says. “I can understand if you have other things you want to do with your wish… but you have to win”

>Any questions?
>>
>>41041541
>Nah it's cool. I don't need to wish for anything else.

Did we remember to feed her dinner?
>>
>>41041541
What are the limits of my wish? Can I makre your wish and my allies come true?
If the bloodmoon ends you will not be conected any more and will probably desapear? Is that what you want?
>>
>>41041541
I got nothing.

>>41041603
She ate leftovers.
>>
>>41041541
Doesn't change much. I never felt that you weren't as invested in this as I was, and it's not THAT big a deal to get you clothes and everything.

>>41041626
Zshe made dinner and left us leftovers

“I don’t think I need the wish for anything else” You say.
“Don’t speak so soon” She says. “Things may happen that will make you regret that”
“If things happen to make me regret that, I’ll live with it” You say. “The way it sounds, your wish is more important than mine. In the long run, at least”

“Thank you” Kyla says. It’s barely a whisper, but you still hear it.

“What about these wishes?” You ask. “What kind of limitations do they have?”

Kyla clears her throat. “No bringing back the dead” She says. “You can wish for it, but the person you wish back will simply die again”

“Why?” You ask.
“Because to bring them back, you have to deny the event that caused their death” She says. “Reality doesn’t like being altered. So they’ll come back, just to die again almost immediately”

“So how do I keep doing it?” You ask.
“It’s not like that for you” She says. “The shield resets you at the moment of your death. No event negation, just very fast healing”

“H-uh” You say. “Anything else? Like say… wishing for 2 things?”
“No” She says. “As nice as that sounds, the energy set aside for granting the wishes is finite. Your wish will take it all. Splitting it will only serve to lengthen the time between Blood Moons, not eradicate them”

>Anything further?

“So… Shizuo, huh?” You ask.
“You said you liked it” She says.
“I do” You say. “I take it you liked the show, then?”
“It was cool” She says. “Is there more?”
“A second season started airing a little while back. But it won’t be finished until the fall” You say.
“Boo” She says. “But at least you liked the outfit”

“I did” You say. “And it was more butcher-proof than my old one, even though I never really tangled with the butcher”
“Still better to be safe than sorry” She says.
“I’m always Saif” You say. Leaning your head back to look at her, you find it comes to rest in her lap.

Kyla runs a hand through your hair. “You are” She says.

Her eyes catch the light from the moon and shimmer. She smiles, giggling a little, and then a lot, until she throws herself back onto the couch in full blown laughter.

“Okay, it wasn’t that funny” You say, standing up.
“Sorry” She says, still laughing. “I just never realized that your name was safe AND Saif”

“Alright you” You say. “Off to bed. One of us has to get up tomorrow”
“I have to get up too” She says. “Otherwise who’s going to get you up?”
“I do have an alarm” You say.
“I’ve never heard it” She says.
“It’s called having a cat” You say.

“Ohhh” She says. “Right”

Kyla hops off the couch and gives you a hug. “Thank you Saif. Again” She says. “I know that I ask a lot”
“Well… your heart is in the right place” You say.
She looks up and smiles. “Goodnight” She says, releasing you and retreating to her room.

“Goodnight” You reply, grabbing a pillow and hitting the hay.

Sleep doesn’t come easily, the weight of Kyla’s confession presses your mind. But it does come eventually.

Calling it a night a little early, both because I have work in the morning and because my numbering system doesn't let me continue beyond this point.

Next thread will be during the week. I'll be switching back to OaDW soon, so I can get the alternation going.

As always I'll be sticking around for questions and suggestions

Thanks for the run Smiley.

Lovin' it, so far. Keep it up!

Also, I'm really liking Claire. I sincerely hope she doesn't have an evil old flame that she attacks us to protect; this board couldn't survive another shitstorm of that magnitude.

I like to think I've learned from that mishap.
