You are Sol Prementus, a being of godlike power. Long ago you distinguished yourself from the mortals you rule over through both action and word. You have united the six remaining great hive cities, set up a new and efficient government, and made the ruthless individualistic culture of Kilionos from one of ruin and savagery to one of progress and unity. This much is clear to anyone now, with 10 million of your world’s greatest men and women onboard the spitting image of human ingenuity and supremacy. This warfleet is mighty indeed, but it is only a small sign of what is to come. As you sit upon your technological throne, you feel the surges of this great vessel’s vast heart, and with it your own unrelenting heart beats with trepidation. Ground contact is to be made very shortly, and the galaxy will let itself decide whether you are worth your mettle. You will not be the one to break, however. You will have your enemies broken beneath the heel of your armies, their hides skinned, their refuges and respites cast into flames. For over ten years you have waited for this day. It almost feels like a dream, the way the warpjump feels. The psychic ambiance a bit different from home in a way you can’t put your finger on. A bit more… soft, maybe? You can’t describe it just yet. Perhaps if you meditated upon it more, you could discover why. But surely your army needs more solid direction.
>Meditate on the warp, and why it feels different. It feel different from home, but why? You need to discover the answer.
>Meditate on your soldiers, and how to lead them through the upcoming storm. They need you, now more than ever before.

A high roll does not necessarily mean a good thing in this case. As it is... well. It could have been worse, I suppose. I was hoping we could save this planet for the second or third time around, when you have a fleet built up. Oh well.

You spend the few weeks you have left preparing. You devise thousands of plans and discuss hundreds of possible scenarios for what course you should take if and when “We stir up some alien shitkickers”, as your General-Major likes to put it. The most likely threat you could find is orks, but the galaxy is a big place. Something else could prove to be even fiercer than the orks, and that’s what you both fear and plan for. There’s nothing concrete for what may be out there until you’re in the solar system. You make sure the soldiers are ready to man every gun on the ship and know the layout of each ship by heart before the week is through. You remind the mortar teams the proper way to calculate for distance, gravity, and wind speed. You remind the siege engineers the faults in the new ground is different than the faults in their ground. And you remind the infantry what it means to overcome fear. The contrast between the celebration and the no-nonsense combat drilling of the ship is stark, and you can spot the difference between the veterans and the merely skilled recruits by smell alone. Some of the fresher faces are brave, and some are terrified and have been labelled as unfit for duty and sent to lower-stress jobs, such as latrine cleaners, maids, waterboys, and maintenance-men for the soldiers’ guns. The number of breakdowns is very few, but you’re partially dissatisfied that there were any at all. They were supposed to be the best of the best, but apparently some recruitment centers pulled sticks for who went onboard their world’s future. You make a note to reprimand those camps when you get back, and maybe eject a few from position.

Two weeks pass.

Everyone is buzzing through their halls with vigor, some eager to get off the ship, some nervous, and almost all of them piss-drunk. It’s the night before the warp jump ends, and then you’ll be all alone with the enemy. This is the day almost everyone has prepared for on Kilionos for a decade, and these brave men are about to live that day. You take this day to memorize each and every face and name, you walk into chattering bars which quickly become either completely silent or ear-shattering loud. To be feared or respected, what is best indeed. You know these men would lay down your lives for you, and you would do the same. And only 24 hours from now, this loyalty will be tested for what is not the first time you have asked, but what is the hardest time you have asked. You have asked some for their hearts. You have asked some for their hearts. You asked some for their royalty and wealth. You have asked some for their sons, some for their daughters, some for their mothers and fathers. And you have asked all for their lives. The weight of ten million souls keeps you trapped on your throne in the ship bridge, even though you know it is more than that. You rest in something not quite sleep, but not quite awake. You rest in limbo. It is your will that these brave men and women, these strong protectors, will not fall. You know some will die. But you will not let them die for nothing. Their children will sing songs of battles they have fought, their family will live and pray to the stars for their sacrifice, and every time a young boy or girl looks at the sky, they will know their papa was once there.

You feel a symbol, XI, burning brightly in your soul.

You open the intercom and announce the ending of the warp jump. All goes quiet, and only the sounds of the engine are heard. The bridge commanders are checking and double-checking their pic-screens for anything that might’ve gone wrong.
“Sir! We’re getting a multiple radio signals. Seemingly human in origin. Should we open the comms system? There’s a possibility there could be malicious tech-writ inside of it.”
You are halfway across the solar system from your destination. There could be many things transmitting that signal, it would take longer to locate the origin than it would to fly to the planet.

Pick however many you want to.

On the bright side, if none of the rolls went above 40, you guys would've lost a good part of your fleet. And your soldiers.

It looks like a civilian broadcast. Hardly a call for alarm. You give a look at the supposed “Data-tasker” and he has the decency to look a bit embarrassed at his mistake, at least. You’re enjoying the part when the short man knocks both of the men’s heads together when the content of the signal changes. A vertical rainbow of different grays and whites and many numbers and bars of varying lengths comes up. The noise of a low drone comes from the screen. After three minutes it stops, and resumes playing like nothing ever happened.

And then the feed stops entirely.

You hear a feminine voice, obviously cogitized, coming from the speakers. “This is the Sinic Military speaking. State your business or you will be shot. You have 5 minutes to reply.”

Your response? This shouldn’t have taken as long as it did, but a QM needs to eat too.

I am the autarch of the Kilionosian navy, Sol Prementus, and request to speak with your commanding officer. We are here as diplomats and one sovereign world to another, not as conquerors. Do you find this agreeable?”

The response takes a while, deliberately most likely, to make it harder to pinpoint their location.
“This deal is acceptable, but if you wander past the rotation arc of the big tan planet before then, you will be shot. Understood?”

You understood. You wait for about a day and a half, and they men look happy that they might not have to fight a war, but also a bit anxious that if they do it’ll be men, not xenos, that they fight.

Finally, the commander of their navy, or perhaps their world leader, or perhaps even an ordinary diplomat, sends an official invitation for diplomacy. Over the radio, on the radio.
“Welcome to our humble little slice of the galaxy, Mr. Prementus. Your arrival has been causing a real ruckus down here since you showed up, I’ve not had a lick of sleep for two days, and I’m up to my neck in paperwork about now. For what do I owe the pleasure?”
“I am the autarch of the Kilionosian navy, and unifier of Kilionos. I come in peace, and my purpose here is to scourge the aliens from humanity’s rightful clay. The works of the xenos such as orks are horrid and we come to liberate humanity from their presence. We seek to unite humanity so that we may bring forth prosperity and enlightenment in all of our souls. Humans are the rightful rulers of the heavens we see, and we want to uplift Man so he may rule his earth with muse in his arms. These are our goals, and our ideals.”

“That’s uh… real nice of you to say, but most people here don’t really like outsiders. It’s nothing personal, there’s just been nasty experiences with them in the past. We’d prefer it if we could determine our own way of doing things. Perhaps you’d like to make a treaty or a trade agreement? I don’t know how much either of us would have to offer, but like you, I’m open to the idea of peace, even if we’re not exactly alike. Whaddya say Mr. P? Friends? D’we got a deal?”

Your response?

>>
>>41146372
Ask him about their experiences with outsiders. We're going around killing xenos anyway, it'd be good to have an idea of what sort of shit is out there.

I lean towards accepting the trade agreement as well as asking them to tell us a bit about themselves.

We can always economically and culturally dominate them in the future.
>>
>>41146372

Ask if said issues involve xenos, and where they might be. Set up a trade agreement, as well as ask for volunteers for the military to better protect both of us. Slowly but surely we can integrate the two worlds, such as creating new factories on their planet with the personnel needed to run it, showing not all outsiders want to mess with them.

Don't mistake our quest for peace for weakness."

You know he’s hiding something. Anyone could tell that, and so could you. What worries you is what he’s hiding. It’s usually no problem at all to tell what a man’s hiding, but neither his face, voice, nor words leave room for you to tell. You have a few ideas, but it could be anything. You haven’t even seen the planet up close, but from what you could see through the ship’s many telescopes (or periscopes, they’re the same thing on spaceships) it was grey and brown, a sign of either prosperity or ruin. You’re leaning towards the latter, but it might very well be the former. You tell him you’ll happily accept his hand in peace, and agree that a treaty of commerce would be in both your interests.

“Ah! Excellent. I’m sure that our peoples will grow strong from this trade. It is pleasing to see that there is still good left in this big wide galaxy of ours. Most people out there would bomb our cities simply to take our land. I’m glad you’re not one of them.”

And while you’re at it, you ask him if it was xenos that caused war upon his home.
>>
>>41147775
“That’s a matter of national security, I couldn’t tell you that if I wanted to. It’s not under my jurisdiction. If you’re looking for xenos-infested planets, however, there’s plenty. The jungle world of Rilas-3 has a heavy ork presence, they’ve been there since our recorded history. There’s probably more ork worlds around it, too. It’s a deathtrap, but it’s only a deathtrap if you poke it. There’s Hattem, a world with beautiful cities. Or, at least, it was. We lost contact with them many years ago, and haven’t heard from them since. And there’s desert world of Ackbarel. They’re not xenos per se, just shadowy mutants who stalk the ruins of old civilisations.”

“Those are the closest, but they’re still many lightyears away. …Of course, that clearly isn’t a problem for you folks, is it? Never heard of Kilionos, but then, there’s probably plenty of worlds we haven’t heard of. Such is the vastness of space.”

He’s not budging on why his planet is distrustful of outsiders, but he’s given you the locations of several xenos worlds. Worlds ripe for expansion.

>use this as a pretense to get spies down there.

As for our trade, what do you have to offer, Your clearly a man whom has what he sells to most, but a few select things normally not on the table.
>be scanning the planets radio chatter for any signals going off world.

In the meantime, i suggest we take a look at Ackbarel (despite the fact that it's obviously a trap).

When we leave having dropped our spies tell them if found to accept any bribes offered but inform us upon return (better that then have them die and not gather anything). Inform this fellow we will be back soon to talk more.

He obviously has some modern tech, otherwise he wouldn't be able to communicate with you, and has something to defend against space invasion. Or he could be lying. Of course, that's not what pals like yourselves do, is it? Best buds like us would never lie to each other, right JACKY?

Fuck, my writing is going to suck if I write like this. Nevermind, that was my last post for the night. I'll still pick it up in the morning if the thread's here, but I don't want to give you guys anything but my A-game, and I can't do when I'm focusing more on staying awake than I'm focusing on my writing.

I'm not satisfied with the short amount that I've written. I WILL do this, but in the morning. I'm done for tonight.

TBH I think what we are all going for is use establishing a trading route for minor things but whatever we do don't give him our military tech or our DaoT stuff. We could also send a number of our people down their to spy, investigate and the like (but only the ones we really can trust because this guy is not to be trusted). We need to let this guy know we are not some bumbling space pirate and are not to be fucked with, we need to start spreading the world to the worlds citizens that we have come and with us comes a better life for all (time for another rebellion).

As for us personally gather all info on Hattem from this fellow and prep to head on out, but first ask why he himself has not gone looking for or investigating a whole world gone silent, he is likely trying to get rid of us and/or wants our tech.

Meanwhile send word to Killios of the situation and keep an eye on things there in case any upstarts try something while we are out of town.

You tell him you’ll need to resupply a bit if you want to continue liberating humanity, and would very much appreciate if you let some of your ships land to resupply for food and water.

“Huh. Really? Seems like water’s something that’s always in demand, even for space-men.
Yeah, sure, we got a place that’d make do as a landing port, I’ll send you the coordinates. Try not to crash into the ocean or anything, alright? I’d hate to lose our newest partners right after we brokered our first deal.”

You’re sent a map of Sinic, albeit one he tells you is out of date. There’s not quite as much green on the planet as the map shows anymore, but you’re told the geographic information is mostly the same. He says they got a large but flat bit of terrain in a large island with some villages and military outposts nearby that have the infrastructure to dig water from the ground, and plenty of food and livestock. He says they should be able to hook you up with what you need.

>Land on the island(How many ships?)
>Land somewhere else(How many ships?)
>Refuse to land
And what will you offer in return for the food and water? He’ll probably give you it for free for this time(although you could give a gift as a token of goodwill), but you can give orders to Kilionos on what to can and can’t be traded here.

What's that, lot of people leaving at certain time?

You relay the location to all appropriate forces, and work is quickly done on calculating the quickest and safest way to land. Your transfer yourself into a cruiser’s hull, leaving your capital ship above as a way of keeping space superiority. It, along with the destroyers, are the only vessels capable of high-precision fire upon a planet. You bring your ships down to the island, maneuvering against mighty atmospheric pressures and g-forces. Mighty crafts strain against both, the weight of the world, and against the palpable heat that erupts between the friction of your ships and the very air itself. You hear the voices of radio chatter as every man gives this maneuver their undivided attention, the price of failure far too deep and disastrous to ponder. The ships would accelerate into oblivion, if but the thrusters and engines did not will it so. The men do a spectacular job, but take no time for celebration. Time spent after the landing is focused on diagnostics, reviewing data, and watching the horizon for hostiles. There is not room for comfort here, the lands could yet still be no man’s land. You take your first steps onto fresh soil, and it is a wondrous feeling to have the ground give without effort. The air has a quaint stench, not entirely pleasant, but not bad at all. You can tell your men enjoy it too, but they keep to their work regardless. True professionals. The villages appear to be made out of wood, and metal scraps clearly intended for a different purpose than what it is used for, an all too familiar sight for you. You see a single car drive towards your makeshift camps from one of the military bases, which seems undermanned to you for its size.

Your soldiers search the personnel for weapons, bombs, anything that could pose harm to essential figures, but find nothing out of the ordinary. The man who you communicated with earlier is escorted to your part of the camp.
“So, we finally meet in person. I’m Joshua Aetius. So nice to finally meet you in the flesh. You’re a bit taller than I expected. You’re here to talk business, right? I’m here to offer.”
And just now I fucking realize that the vote was to move on to Hattem before, and people voted on getting supplies, not exploring this more. Nobody voted on moving planetside. Fuck siht balls. Do you guys want to keep rolling with this or should I bang out a different paragraph?

Oh. Thank you for running it for my anons while I was gone. I hadn't abandoned it, circumstances were just...bad for running.

Thank you...again.

So uh...what happened during the two threads I didn't exist?
>>
>>41154370
We left Killios for the first time and JUST made conntact with a new world, we know bugger all about it, we know bugger all about anything. I'm sure IF you like we could just cont from where u left off? or you could write an intermediary thingo kinda bringing us to this kinda point using your note, that way we are back on your track and Crabby's work doe snot go to waste

Hmmm. Crabby, what would you like to do? Continue where I left off, skip ahead a bit and have this be a thing, or should I let you continue running and decide next thread? Personally I wish to let you continue running and then I'll do whatever next thread.

And we built a fleet. http://pastebin.com/UuKyRSDF
Now we're on a planet with a shady as fuck PG/navy officer/whatever he is. The new planet is a dead world whose soil is sustained by underground lakes, and I can't explain further without spoiling plans for the planet.
And uh, yeah. That's what happened.Do you know a place where we can chat privately? If you're wanting to resume where I left off you'll have to know about what I have wrote down.

Yeah, I'll finish this thread today. It's your quest, you molded the Lost Primarch Quest. I merely adopted it. If you don't want to run... I mean, I think I'm speaking what we're all thinking when I say you do it better than I, and I'd rather you didn't give it up. Yeah, you can pick up where I left off for the next thread. I'll handle your off days when you don't feel like running, if you want to make that a thing.

>>41154517

The man-Joshua- has a confident smile on his face. It’s not the smile of politician, of a man who’s trying to make friends, or of a man who who’s trying to make enemies. You’ve seen this smile before, it’s a man who believes they’re in control. It’s cocky, but he doesn’t have much reason not to be. You’re in unfamiliar territory, and he’s right at home. You don’t know what tricks he has under his sleeve, but he doesn’t know what’s under yours, either. You’re at a stalemate, and you both know it. You’ll need to choose your words cafefully, a wrong word here means you could have a costly war on your hands. Nations have been stripped bare for mere poor wording many times in the past, and you have no nation here. The glimmer in his eye tells a thousand words of his soul to your mind, and you pick and choose the best way to approach him.

And what can we offer them?

Food and livestock is out because, If I remember the surprisingly detailed discussion we had on it, it was made to provide for populations but probably doesn't taste that great. Not exactly a luxury that can be sold unless they have starving masses.

So I guess it it would be products and materials that would be offered. Vehicle engines maybe?
>>
>>41155706
Depends. Are they active in space?

If not, then we could provide them with shit tons of raw ore and rare earth metals that we mine from asteroids and shit.

Though, Kilionian consumer goods would be a good route to go if we want to subvert them culturally over time.

We’ll need to establish a port here if we wish to have some strong form of exchange going, and we can’t do that without some advanced manufacturing going on here. Do you have any of that?”

“Our mighty industry is unparalleled, of course we could build a port! It’ll take a year or so to get it up and running, but for a good cause the Sinic people will do anything. We wouldn’t want to devote such a large amount of workers for a cause like this for too long, however. If you could loan us one of those ships, we’d get it done in six months. “I’m sorry. Those are part of my fleet, and I’ll need every one of them if there as foes as numerous as you say, I’ll need every advantage I can get to press the enemies of Man into dust. The tides of war may be fickle, but they are not easily swayed. More often than not a single wrong action can turn the fate of a battle into another direction. To lend you my ship, as well as my crew, is asking too high of a price.”

Joshua looks shocked for a moment, and lets a fleeting glimpse of anger out. Too short for most normal people to notice, but plenty long for you. An understanding grimace is left in it’s place.
“Very well. We will build it alone, like we have built everything we own. You’ll have your food and drink here, and we will take your tools for this job, as we have agreed upon. Safe travels, friend. May your lucky stars see you through the night.”

After a few days, enough food and water has been acquired to account for everyone for a month. It is the first planet besides your own that you have stepped upon, and only a few short days later, you are leaving it. You had come expecting war, but found an uneasy peace, and a potential ally. You walked on soft dirt for the first time, smelled the spirit of nature, and not a single man has died under your command. You feel that the burden of ten million souls is not as heavy as it was the moment you were faced with the unknown for the first time. You have flung a light into the dark, and it reached out and touched something today. You’ve started a fire in the cold dark night. And you’ve learned something today. The only difference between day and night is what you haven’t touched yet. Someone is always seeing the light somewhere, and it’s always just a matter of time before everyone sees it.
